Categories Comments Great for these types of students This institute is good for any student who wants to further their education education.
Tips for prospective students This institute is a great opportunity You will learn so much.It is very easy but will take all of your dedication as well.
Bang for the buck The cost for each class is very manageable. It is a major difference from a university. Apply for financial aid on a website called fasfa.gov.,by doing so you may not have to pay for anything.
Am enjoying being here It is a lot of being at the institute. It offers so many activities. The campus is quiet and peaceful as well. The school brings a secure feeling for first time students or any student for that matter.
Am learning a lot I have learned so much from this institute. The school has numerous options that helped. The first option is having the professor meets with the student to go over notes. Second is to create a study group. Third is the best option of all. The school has a Student Learning Center for each subject that is offered. There is a tutor who will meet who with the students by appointment or walk in.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This college is great for part-time students who are working as it offers a classes at night and on weekends. It is a great fit for non-traditional students who have not been in school some time because it offers them a way to start over without breaking the bank or forcing them to completely alter their lifestyle to fit their class schedule. Last but not least, it is a great option for recent high school graduates who aren't sure what they want to major in, want to stay close to home, want to join one of the limited access programs (nursing, firefighting, etc.), or simply want to save up some of their money before transferring to another institution.
Tips for prospective students While some may consider community college to be an easy alternative to a university, the expectations at this level are still higher than some students may be used to. The environment is a bit less structured in the sense that there is less busy work and more independent studying. In order to do well at this school you must be willing to put put forth the effort necessary to learn the material and you have to know when to ask for help. There are plenty of resources available to help you learn if you are only willing to look for them. Also, get involved with some of the extracurricular activities available. There are plenty of organizations, both academic and social, to help make your time there more enjoyable. It's a great way to meet people who share your interests and the academic organizations may even help to reinforce what you are learning in your courses.
Bang for the buck Even though the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship has recently reduced its tuition coverage, the majority of community college tuition and fees are still paid. For those who do not have this scholarship, community college tuition is still far less than tuition at a public university and after earning your associate's degree, the credits should transfer to other post secondary institutions, which saves you money in the long run.
Am enjoying being here While this school is a sort of stepping stone on my way to a university, and I do look forward to transferring to a post-secondary institution with a bit more prestige, I cannot help but enjoy my time here. Palm Beach Community College offers a fairly comfortable environment for everyone from recent high school graduates to non-traditional students. I have always found the faculty and staff to be friendly and helpful and the students are generally respectful of others. The campuses aren't overly crowded and if you're willing to walk a little you can usually find somewhere to park which is more than can be said for many universities.
Am learning a lot Obviously the type of learning environment created varies from professor to professor, but one can always expect small class sizes. Many of the courses considered to be high risk (those that have a greater percent of students withdrawing or failing due to rigorous coursework) have supplemental instructors (SI's) who hold study sessions outside of class and are more than willing to help. Though the courses at this college are not considered to be difficult, I have still found myself learning a great deal more than most would have expected. The upper-level math and science professors (specifically those at the Eissey campus) are brilliant. As long as you are willing to learn and put forth the required effort, you will excel.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Great for students that aren't very financially stable or are unsure about what they want to major in. Also for those who want to go right into a certain profession.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you always go to class on time and never miss a class because it sets you way behind. As long as you do all of the work and study for the exams you will do great.
Bang for the buck Absolutely worth it. You take classes at a good price and even free depending on what kind of financial aid you have.
Am enjoying being here Its a fun school with a lot of different things to do. Whether you want to grab a bite to eat or study in the newly rebuilt library there is always something to keep you busy.
Am learning a lot The professors are like no other ive ever had. They break down everything into a form that everyone can understand.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This college is a great option for students who haven't done great in high school. Many students struggle in high school and going to a 4 year college straight after high school can be a challenge. Palm Beach Community College prepares students for the transition to a 4 year college. Step by step the professors help students to understand college material and tackle difficult subjects. There is no competition between students and students are encouraged to proceed at their own pace. Palm Beach Community College isn't only a great option for the traditional student coming from high school but also for adults who have never finished their education. The college offers many night classes so adults can attend college after work. Also, the college's low fees make it affordable for people with families.
Tips for prospective students Remember to always ask questions. This might seem obvious but many people actually don't follow through here. Students are on their own and they don't feel comfortable in that environment, many are too shy to ask questions. Find out whatever it is you need to know whether it is directions to a class or what clubs are on campus. The more you ask, the more you know, making the transition to college a smoother process. Also, join clubs or other extracurricular activities. With exams, papers, due dates and grades college can get pretty stressful. Joining a club will give you an outlet by relieving stress; academics are important but so is having fun. Being part of some organization also enriches the college experience because it gives you a chance to be part of your college. One of the most important tips I could give you is to be organized. Keep a planner and write down every single thing you need to do in it; assignments, major due dates, group meetings, interviews, internship opportunities etc. Have a different folder or binder for each class and keep your papers in a neat order. When things aren't organized there's a lot more room for confusion and stress.
Bang for the buck Community College is a great choice for students who don't have too much money to spend for college! For a full time student tuition is only $1000 per semester. On top of that if you have Bright Futures or other scholarship money you pay even less. I only paid around $600 for tuition this semester! You also save money on room and board which costs around $8000. There are no additional daily expenses for students living at home. You or your parents do not have to pay for an extra toothbrush, toothpaste, toilet paper, groceries etc.
Did enjoy being here The staff and student body are so friendly. People are always willing to offer their help. During the first two weeks of every year there are former students and staff located all around the campus to help freshman and other new students with directions. Some people are even willing to walk you to your class. This attitude is found throughout the whole campus from the library to the bookstore, to the cafeteria etc. I also love the fact that the college is very diverse in its student body. There are all kinds of students here; students fresh from high school, adults finishing their education and students from a variety of ethnic backgrounds including international students. The college strongly focuses on academics but also on extracurricular life. There are a wide variety of clubs and organizations ranging from the jumpstart jump rope club to Phi Theta Kappa.
Did learn a lot The professors are extremely educated about their particular subjects. Every day I am learning more and more. They provide an encouraging learning system which motivates us as students. They're also always available if a student needs extra help enhancing our knowledge. Each professor I have has taught me so much and on top of that they have taught me how I can use their subject in the real world making it applicable to us.

Categories Comments Campus Safety i've seen a few security guards around, but they mostly just tell you to not skate around or loiter. i've heard of many things being stolen and when i've lost something, they were very bad at returning it to me.
Greek Life nonexistent.
Clubs and Activities i barely heard of any and if i did, i wasn't interested.
Great for these types of students students straight out of high school or returning to college. also great for students that don't know what they want to do and/or don't have a lot of money.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus it's not a big campus. there isn't much there.
Bang for the buck you can finish your aa very quickly and with the right grants and scholarships, cheaply as well.
What to do for fun campus isn't big and you're not allowed to skate there. i didn't hang out on campus much and when i did, i just sat on a bench outside with my friends.
Food and Dining there's one restaurant and a little cafe area. it's nice to hang out in, but there aren't a lot of options.
Dorm Life nonexistent.
Academic Rigor the classes were very easy. similar to my high school moved over a mile.
Tips for prospective students don't skip class at all. some professors take attendance, but the others you just need to be there for.
In three sentences pbsc was easy, but fun. i finished my aa easily. similar to high school.

Maybe your family is very close and you are not ready to leave them, there is no need to put your education on hold, you can continue on campus or online! Palm Beach State is great for all types of students, and you can always find a class to fit into your busy schedule.

It may make your learning a bit more enjoyable!
Bang for the buck For the amount you learn from the teachers here at Palm Beach State, you really get your monies worth
Am enjoying being here As much as I learn here at Palm Beach State, I do not find an abundance of school pride. The campus is beautiful, and the teachers are excellent, but I feel as if the student body of the college need to hold more pride towards the school they are attending.
Am learning a lot Here at Palm Beach State, the teachers are remarkable! Everyone is more than pleased to help you in any way they can. Teachers answer any question you have to the absolute fullest, and they are always available as a resource.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Everyone who wants to farther their education can go there. Even if you don't have a great scores in other test like ACT and SAT. you get many chance to take the CPT which would determine what kind of classes you should take.
Tips for prospective students My tips is to know exactly what you want to learn so you don't let behind. If you undecided you can always start with the basics first., then visit the career center they will help you figure out what to do.

Categories Comments Campus Safety the campus is pretty safe. i never minded to linger on campus after hours. even though the surrounding neighborhood isn't too pleasing, there is security on campus and the people are here mostly hear to learn. like i said, i never had a problem walking around nor with my car.
Greek Life there is no greek life.
Clubs and Activities i never really was involved. there isn't too much too offer though. though they do offer a community service organization and a sorority club.
Great for these types of students great for part-time students, those who plan to transfer for their junior year, don't mind being around wanna-be-thugs, and like the urban setting.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus there really isn't much activity on campus. most student come for the classes and go to work afterwards. the campus isn't large and there's about 10-25 students in a class, on average.
Bang for the buck i took classes here as a dual enrolled student, so i didn't need to pay for my courses.
What to do for fun beach (5 minute drive from the college), bowling (15 minute drive to don carters), mall (boynton beach mall, about 25 minute drive), and local clubs (like rumbas 30 minute drive) if that sort of thing is what you like.
Food and Dining nothing but fast food restaurants all around, but wendy's is walking distance from the college. i prefer to eat healthy food, so that's why the rating is so low!
Dorm Life no dorms here, but there are nearby apartments to rent. wouldn't really recommend it though since the cheap or low cost apartment are on the east side of the highway and this is an are that isn't too safe...it's basically the hood or 'ghetto of greenacres.
Academic Rigor it all depends on the professor!
Tips for prospective students make sure to check out ratemyprofessor website and register for classes early! the classes that good professor teach get filled up before the semester starts! and one more thing, avoid going east of the i-95...unless you want to up your chances of getting mugged :)
In three sentences plenty of friendly people attend this college and the professors are a hit or miss. the local area has a wendy's located across the street, la granja restaurant on lake worth, and more fast-food places going north on congress ave. overall it's not a bad school. great start if you plan on transferring to a university later on.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus itself is very safe, with reminders of what can happen to unattended items flashed all around the school on TVs. I myself can admit to losing or forgetting books or a lunchbag around the school, but they are never touched or moved. I once left a lunchbox outside for an entire class length, and no one touched it or moved anything inside.
Clubs and Activities See above for what to do for fun. The clubs are really the only enrichment you can get outside of paying for classes.
Bang for the buck The college is cheap, but it has everything you really need for a college experience.
What to do for fun There are several clubs around Palm Beach State, such as the QED, the Rotaract Club, SGA, the Salsa Club, and others.
Food and Dining The food given in the cafeteria is passable. The one in Boca Raton has vending machines, the usual cafeteria branded foods, as well as college-made dishes. Some are not as good as others, and the ones under the heat lamp are bland, but filling.
Dorm Life There's no place to really dorm at PBS, or at least the branch I go to; it's a state college, after all, not a university like FAU. However, the areas are convenient enough for me to go to, and some have good synergy with neighboring colleges.
Academic Rigor For Florida standards, the teachers at Palm Beach State are, for the most part, experts in their subjects. They are professors, even adjunct professors, dedicated to giving you what you need. I can't rate them perfectly, unfortunately, due to the fact that there are some teachers I myself did not prefer.
Tips for prospective students If you want to go to college in the South Florida area, mostly around Boca Raton and Lake Worth, this is the best place to go; cherish it every chance you get. Don't waste time here; they go to good lengths to entice you into studying in their special buildings. I've gone there several times, and I've gotten better grades by talking to people and getting tutored by the specialists there.
In three sentences Palm Beach State College is a great start for me. So far, I have been able to do so much in class; most of it is hard work, but if it gets me ahead in life at a minimal cost, I gladly accept it. I seriously can't think of a better place for a South Florida high school graduate to go than Palm Beach State College

Categories Comments Campus Safety I'd say that the security is pretty good. There are always security guards patrolling the parking lots for any wrong-doing.
Clubs and Activities There's almost always something going on.
Great for these types of students Like I said earlier, this school is great for students who want to use this school as a stepping stone to a university and, eventually, bigger and better things.
Bang for the buck Basically, what you put in to this school is what you will get out of it. If you really have a goal in mind and dream big, you'll do great.
What to do for fun There's almost always some sort of event going on. You'll never get bored.
Food and Dining The food isn't great, but it isn't terrible either. If you don't want to risk your enjoyment with the school's food, you could always purchase your food either from the Dunkin Donuts in the cafeteria or the Wendy's across the street.
Dorm Life There are no dorms at this school.
Academic Rigor The classes can be a challenge, but there are not overwhelming. You can do it.
Tips for prospective students Take in things one day at a time, and don't stress out too much with things that might pop up. Remember, this school is just a stepping stone to bigger and better things.
In three sentences Palm Beach State College has it's goods and bads, but don't let that deter you from attending this school. Many of the teachers here are very cool and helpful, and you will never feel like you're not good enough to be whatever it is you want to be. This is a great starter school, and will help you be better prepared for when you are ready to move on to a university.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students PBCC is great for students who are not financially stable at this point in their lives. This institute offers great scholarships and grants through financial aid, which allows that student to save up as much money as they can.
Tips for prospective students Prospective students who plan to attend PBCC should know that just because it is a community college doesnt mean it is going to be a piece of cake. The professors here do challenge you and they wont coddle you. They expect you to act as adults, because now you are one.
Bang for the buck You most definitely get your money's worth at PBCC. Considering how expensive state universities are, PBCC enables you to learn the same material for a considerably cheaper amount. The first 2 years of college are getting the core classes under your belt anyways, so going to PBCC allowed me to save up for when I plan to transfer.
Am enjoying being here I'm very grateful to have gone to PBCC my first 2 years out of high school. I've accomplished the required core classes while saving a lot of money and learning in a not too small environment, but it is definitely a more personal setting in the classroom.
Am learning a lot I have learned a great deal at this Institute. Most of the professors here are devoted to teaching you in the best way possible. They want you to grasp the concept of whatever subject your are studying and are passionate about teaching.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Undecided students that have not yet decided which major to follow. It is also great for people that do not want to go to a bigger univeristy, either because of cost or distance.
Tips for prospective students If you decide to come to the school, and are planning to transfer, make sure you use your time wisely. Time goes very fast and you can easily lose track of it, and not realize you need to get many things ready before your graduation, especially if you are undecided about your major.
Bang for the buck The school is very affordable. There are tons of possibilities to get aid from scholarship and grants to loans, not only outside the institution but within.
Am enjoying being here As far as as the environment, the school is not stressful. I'd definitely look forward to have the actual college experience at a bigger university when I transfer.
Am learning a lot If you're looking for challenge, you need to make sure you choose the right teachers not everyone here can have the same look at academics as you. I've definitely found a couple of great teacher from which I've learned more than I thought I would have.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Everyone!
Tips for prospective students Even though it is community college, take it seriously. Join the Honors College or Phi Theta Kappa; do things that are going to set you apart and help you to learn and grow! Keep a high GPA and you will get into any 4 year university! Also, if you plan to transfer do not wait until your last semester to start doing research on where you want to go...do that ASAP!
Bang for the buck Apply for the Foundation Scholarships they have and that should really help the cost.
Did enjoy being here There are times you love it and times you don't, but if you join clubs and make friends you are going to have a great time and never want to leave!
Did learn a lot Community college is a great time to learn about yourself and what you like to do. I did that here at PBCC, if you like a professor or certain course work, take another class in that field and see if you don't fall in love...I did!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This school is great for all students who are ready to continue their education.
Tips for prospective students Definitely check with people you know who have taken classes that you are getting ready to take to see how they felt about the professor they took the class with.
Bang for the buck This was one of the biggest decision making factors for me because I got to find out exactly the major I wanted to pursue and it did not cost my a lot to complete my AA degree.
Am enjoying being here I feel that as a sophmore in college this was really the best place for me to be for the first two years it allowed me to get used to the work required for college and how independent you have to be for sucess in college. I do think that this is the best place for people who are not 100% sure of what the want to major in because they can get some of the required AA degree credits completed.
Am learning a lot I am learning exactly what I need to learn from the classes I am taking. In all my classes the material is explained before the work is assigned so I am not just teaching myself but working while the professors are assisting me. I do have to say though that some classes/professors are more independent learning than others. The amount of work required from each class is dependent on the professor, I have found that I work better with different professors than other students so while many people say that ratemyprofessor tells you everything you need to know about a professor you do have to really consider how you will work with the professor based on the post from other students.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students I would advise every student to experience community colleges because its less expensive and it also help to save for the big universities, and etc.
Am enjoying being here I wish Palm Beach State was more of a university feeling.
Am learning a lot I just transferred from Florida Atlantic University completing my prerequisites. I was accepted into Palm Beach State College Nursing Program. I have attended Palm Beach State during the summer sessions and I love the one on one as compared to a university, the students are just their ID. The teachers never get to see what type of affect their education and surrounding have on one's life.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students PBSC is great for students who don't want to live on campus and great for students who want to work.
Tips for prospective students Look into what you want to do in your life, I mean if you want to be a doctor yes you need to strive fir Yale or hazard, but if you wanna be a police man or a fire fighter, even a teacher PBSC is the place to go.
Bang for the buck Like any college, classes are expensive but it is cheaper then a major university. Attending a state colleges the way to go to get your AA because it is cheaper then getting it at a major university, and it's the same degree.
Am enjoying being here The students and professors at PBSC are all very friendly, there is always something going on in the court yard and the SGA throws tons of bashes with free food just to bring a whole bunch of the students together.
Am learning a lot A majority of the professors at PBSC are so helpful. They adapt teaching methods so that they fit a majority of the students and if that's not enough they offer tutoring,or review sessions.I have not found one professor yet who wouldn't spend a little extra time with me to explain further what I was confused about.

Tips for prospective students Stay on top of things at all times. Its every man for themselves, you cant depend on your teachers or friends anymore. Have good time management and have fun learning. You are only in college for so long.
Bang for the buck This school will definitely help you save money while you still get the same kind of education you will get in other state universities and colleges. Its always best to get your AA degree here annd then go to a college/university with your program. Better yet, PBSC might have your program.
Am enjoying being here I enjoy the fact that every week something is going on in the courtyards. Whether its a band play or they are giving away free food and having perfomances. There is alot to be apart of. The only part missing is the on campus dorms and the fraternities. Those are the only aspects missing from the full college experience.
Am learning a lot You learn quite a bit from your professors. Just make sure you find the right ones.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Nursing and Police students are widely known around the college. Those are simply two of the better graduating classes known at Palm Beach State College.
Tips for prospective students Keep a good head on your shoulders, learn to stay focused and work hard. Just because its a smaller state college doesn't mean that you don't have to do as much work. Don't be fooled, but always work hard.
Bang for the buck For such a smaller educational establishment, they offer a great opportunity for higher learning. The pricing for their classes are really reasonable especially since what you learn is no different from being at any other university or college. If you can't afford anything flashy, i'd definitely recommend Palm Beach State College.
Am enjoying being here It's quite the relaxing environment. From time to time they have live bands playing and small events going on. Social environment worth enjoying.
Am learning a lot The value of education is just like any other college or university. They teach and as long as you pay attention and learn to focus attentively, you'll learn. I feel as though within the last two years that I've been there I've learned quite a lot.

Tips for prospective students Take classes that interest you and take time to study from them. Depending on how you like to study, make a study group or use note cards for self quizzing. Also, doing homework is a must; What is normally on the homework is on a test.
Bang for the buck Palm Beach State College gives me the opprotunity to further my education without major stress over how I will afford it.
Am enjoying being here I have the privileged of being accompanied by fellow classmates and new friends which make for a better experience. I enjoy the easy accessibility the campus has to offer.
Am learning a lot I am furthering my knowledge and that gives me great joy. I am able to go to a learning center if I have any questions what so ever about any subject. I feel that my questions matter, no matter how small.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are security offices everywhere. Very safe.
Great for these types of students The dedicated student will make the most out of this school.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus When you start it is mandatory for a tour. Not very many students really need this but its interesting to learn about the school.
Bang for the buck Rent your textbooks, or try to sell them back within the first week classes are over. If your going to take classes with a friend try alternating semesters so you can share the books. I love the small class sizes.
What to do for fun In general there are a lot of clubs to enjoy, just find the one the best suites you.
Food and Dining I enjoy the starbucks.
Dorm Life I haven't lived in dorms.
Academic Rigor Some online professors don't have structure but overall they are good.

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities Many Clubs and activities are on campus!
Great for these types of students Students who are looking to stay close to home are perfect for PBSC. Additionally, it is perfect for students who are looking to get a feel of College life.
Food and Dining There are cafeterias on campus with affordable food. Healthy choices are also available . . . !
Dorm Life There are no dorms at Palm Beach State College at present.
Academic Rigor During the first semester, I would strongly advise taking a student life course. Academia is manageable, as long as the student studies. Without pre-knowledge, a student risks failing courses. In general however, courses are manageable, as long as the student stays focus.
Tips for prospective students Prospective students should expect to gain a college mindset, doing away with their previous high school perspective[s]. It is imperative, that students, upon entering college, be prepared to work for all their grades. professors are nothing like High School teachers - you are responsible for your education, or the lack thereof.
In three sentences Palm Beach State College is an affordable and well accredited institution. It lends its students the opportunity to better themselves through varied clubs and societies. It is a great way to begin the College experience and out of a 10, I give it a 9.99. =)

Categories Comments Campus Safety security patrols the campus constantly, and they are really nice people too.
Clubs and Activities there's over a dozen clubs at pbsc and several activities that take place. concerts, movies, sports, you name it. there's a gym, and a student center where you can hang out with you friends to pass time.
Great for these types of students those short on time, or with unusual, unpredictable schedules. take online classes if you want flexibility, or take a class that meets only once a week if you're up to it and if you're the independent type when it comes to learning.
What to do for fun check out the student center, play some games with some friends. join up with the sports, and join one of the various clubs.
Food and Dining vending machines with a variety of goodies. fancy a soda, water, or need a boost with an energy drink? feeling for some candy or chips? get some coffee at dunkin' donuts with breakfast or lunch. or just pass through the cafe line for some fresh food, or snacks.
Dorm Life no dorms, so therefore, no dorm life. ;)
Academic Rigor you have a choice between taking the easy classes, or the challenging ones. do a bit of research before you pick your classes. opt for the honors if you want a bit of challenge.
Tips for prospective students do not wait till the last minute to go to orientation and pick classes. only a good idea if you want a hard class with a teacher that... won't be up to your standards, per say... do your research, look through the syllabus' of prospective professors, and find their rating. the good classes tend to fill up quickly,
In three sentences palm beach state college is a really good, nice college in my opinion. it's a really friendly place, as the faculty are so kind, personal, and happy to help. the campus itself is pretty, relaxing, and fun.

Categories Comments Campus Safety i would say i feel safe overall on campus. i haven't had any times where i was worried abut my safety. i have morning classes so that is a little different than being on campus at night however.
Clubs and Activities various clubs to choose from. this is a great way to become familiar with your fellow peers as well as the school staff. it's even a great way to be more involved and take ownership of your campus.
Great for these types of students -great for students who are looking to stay close to home (west palm beach.) -good for students who are unable to receive financial aid or those who are paying for the classes out of pocket. -good for students who did not do so well in high school and need a chance to redeem themselves. -great for those students who need one-on-one tie with their professors.
Bang for the buck let's be honest, the prices beat most. in my opinion, the books are very expensive but other than that, you do get the bang for your buck.
What to do for fun there are many clubs you can be a part of that host various events to do on campus and outside of campus.
Food and Dining one of my least favorite aspects of the school. the only good food is dunkin donuts. this even gets old after eating it for a while. no variety at all and the setting of the cafe where you buy the food reminds me of my elementary school days, it's just awful.
Dorm Life commuter college
Academic Rigor some classes are more challenging than others but the perk of going to a state college rather than a university is that you have a much smaller class. this allows you to have one-on-one time with your professor when needed.
Tips for prospective students be wise about which professors you choose. make sure to take some time and do your research by going on ratemyprofessor.com. this will make a big difference in your experience as a college student. in addition to choosing the right professor, you need to plan your schedule accordingly. plan out a schedule that will be best for you, not your friends! be wise, you're in college now!
In three sentences the professors i have had so far ave been great, i would recommend them to any student. as far as the parking situation and the cleanliness of the school, i think this needs to be improved. overall, it is a very good school and i am proud to be a panther!

What to do for fun They have a lot of events and clubs!
Food and Dining Cheap food, unhealthy, the usual.
Academic Rigor It depends on the class, some are more work than others, average is three stars but math for me is 5 star rigor, as well as the history summer course was 5.
Tips for prospective students Check Rate my professor before choosing a professor, I had a great experience but my friend who can only choose classes to fit in her schedule without checking the ratings had a bad experience.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Take advantage of the free tutoring available to you and the career counseling, so that you do not waste your time in courses that are not necessary toward your degree.
In three sentences I feel that this college has greatly improved over the years, and continues to provide the tools necessary for the students to be successful in their learning experience. However, some of the professors should be re-evaluated for teaching in a college atmosphere and having language barriers, such as too strong of an accent to be clearly understood.

Dorm Life There's no dorms at this college. I leave at home and drive to school each day, it only takes 10 minutes to get there.
Academic Rigor The Academic Rigor is fair. If you do your work, you'll do fine. But if not, you'll probably fail. There's even labs like the reading and math labs if you need extra help.
Tips for prospective students Some tips are: be ready for college, relax and study before hand, and finally just have fun. Don't get to stressed out.

Academic Rigor Education is a top priority and all the staff, faculty and administration want you to succeed. The classes are quite varied, and with some effort the classes will really get you interested.

Categories Comments Campus Safety They have emails sent to everyone about theft and anything that happens in the area. You can even sign up for emergency alerts on your phone. Safety will never be an issue. Not once have i heard of anything major happening.
Clubs and Activities They have awesome clubs. For the studious, religious, and for the sports-like people.
What to do for fun There are always activities to do. Its just a matter of finding them whether religious or not there is always something.
Food and Dining The food is good compared to many schools. It depends on what you like but they have a little of everything.
Dorm Life I have heard the dorm life is pretty fair but I don't have any personal experience.
Academic Rigor The academic life is pretty tough if you don't pay attention. However you should do just fine if you study and do as your professors say.
Tips for prospective students If your serious about school and want to excel then you should consider Palm Beach State College, especially if your not sure on your major. It's better to treat it seriously than as a joke because if its just fun and games for you then your wasting your time. Palm Beach State is a good combination of both (Fun & Seriousness) but don't take it to any extreme.
In three sentences The college is great for those who are undecided about their major. The school really helps and tries their best to help you succeed and figure out what you wan to do. Categories Comments Campus Safety Not bad, relatively speaking. A car was stolen from campus a couple of weeks ago.
Great for these types of students In-state Florida residents who want to get a degree without much debt.
Bang for the buck Average. Cheap, so if you can't afford a better education, it serves its purpose.
What to do for fun Clubs and organizations. The Duncan Theater
Food and Dining stale Dunkin Donuts on campus. Bad food.
Academic Rigor Meh. Most of it is busy work. Even the tough teachers just hand you a lot of work to keep you busy. And if there is material that is actively challenging, don't expect much help from your professors. Just had a VERY bad experience with the Math Dept and I will be filing a formal complaint as soon as the semester is over (it was implied that it could effect me badly if I put in a formal complaint before my grades were in. Nice, right?)
Tips for prospective students Do not take too many accelerated courses all at once. Especially not if you're working while you're in school Online courses are great if that's something you feel you could manage.
In three sentences Cheap, with some decent courses. Having attended college before, I would not rate this school very high at all, but if you want to just do the basics and get a piece of paper this school is fine.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The Lake Worth Campus is quite safe thanks both to 24 hour patrolling security and an on-site police academy.
Clubs and Activities There are many activities and daily events are posted through email or on boards throughout the campus.
Great for these types of students It's great for students who don't have a lot of school funding or who have to complete college on their own without familial help.
Bang for the buck Palm Beach State College is very affordable, if you are within in-state residency perimeters.
What to do for fun There are many clubs and events held year round.
Food and Dining The campus provides it's own cuisine within the campus grounds; but as far as truly sustaining meals, it's a bit lacking.
Academic Rigor Academic rigor is very dependent on the classes you take. Honor and high-level classes are available to those who meet the requirements, while basic classes are also available to those just starting out.
Tips for prospective students A great tip I have for prospective students is to take tours of the campus. The college is quite large, and it's easy to miss a helpful facility.
In three sentences Palm Beach State College is a great place to start. There are many advisors that help students to move along their intended academic path. A variety of programs are available, each that can be made flexible to a work or family schedule.

Categories Comments Campus Safety As none of the college branches are particularly large, they are easily and routinely patrolled by campus security. There are very few dark or secluded coves or corners on these campuses where crime could easily flourish. The campuses are well lit and monitored with surveillance cameras as well.
Greek Life While most of the Greek organizations are active and available at PBSC, Phi Theta Kappa is the most encompassing and relevant to further upper level studies. Not only do they routinely host academic and intellectual programs and events, but they regularly organize recreational and social events off campus.
Clubs and Activities While this state college offers access to most clubs and activities that other state colleges do, as a very ethnically diverse area, there are more multicultural and ethnic oriented clubs and activities at PBSC than the average state college.
Great for these types of students It's great for all students who want a best buy in quality education. It's great for all those who crave lot's of year round sunshine. It's great for those who want guaranteed assurance of being accepted as a transfer student into one of Florida's highly rated universities for Bachelor or Master degree study.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Palm Beach Gardens campus is diagonally across the street from two major and high end shopping areas, with movie theaters, where many students find part time employment. The Boca Raton campus is immediately adjacent to, and within walking distance to Florida Atlantic University. This makes taking classes at both schools simultaneously easy, and requires no living condition changes if transferring from one to the other. Also, PBSC students at the Boca Raton campus have immediate access to the far superior FAU campus food, dining and other services.
Bang for the buck The open air and rambling layout of the campuses afford one the opportunity to catch a breath of fresh air and a bit of sunlight in between classes. Being in Southeast Florida saves one the expense of buying heavy winter clothing. While academic standards are high, the atmosphere is utterly casual and friendly. All locations are strategically positioned near the interstate, major shopping and affordable residential areas.
What to do for fun With all campuses strategically located in Southeast Florida, the social and natural activity options are state of the art for subtropical areas. There is an endless array of night life options. The water and fishing sports are immediately accessible and affordable. Shopping spans the spectrum of styles and price ranges. School offers most of the classic sport activities and there is a student lounge, recreation area and gym. There are numerous academic and public service groups, clubs, and organizations to join and participate in.
Food and Dining While food and dining is simplistic, it is wholesome and good value. There is a Dunkin Doughnuts insuring a steady supply of good coffee.
Dorm Life They do not offer on campus living.
Academic Rigor Academic rigor and strictness vary with individual professors, as it does at all colleges. However, even they're online courses are very demanding and exacting, with little forgiveness.
Tips for prospective students Their online resources are a treasure, offering many classes and exceptional library and research features.
In three sentences Palm Beach State College provides a high quality education with a high ratio of PhD professors. Their multiple locations and online study options afford great geographical convenience and ease. It also offers one of the lowest tuition of most state colleges, yet it is regionally accredited and their credits readily transfer out.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is very safe. From my experience there has been nothing that seemed odd or unsafe.
Great for these types of students It is a great school for those who don't like to go to big universities with many people. The classrooms are normal and hold up to 30 students. The environment is safe and it is the perfect place for those who are still undecided about their careers.
Bang for the buck You definetley get your moneys worth and there are is a lot of financial aid for students. Although sometimes it takes several weeks for you to get financial aid.
What to do for fun My hobbies are acting and participating in theatrical arts whenever I have the opportunity to. I like spending time with my siblings especially since I have a new baby brother. I like hanging out with my friends going to the movies and just having a nice time.
Food and Dining There is only one cafeteria on campus. There is a Dunkin Donuts that offers many discounts for the students throughout the year. There are much drink variety and the food is decent at times. They sell cooked meals and sandwiches that I honestly have never tasted but they don't look so bad.
Dorm Life There are no dorms on campus.
Academic Rigor There are some classes that are easy to pass if all the work is done but here are others that are very challenging and require a lot of time outside the classroom for studying.
Tips for prospective students I advise that you enjoy the college experience to the best of your ability. Concentrate on your grades and don't take college for granted. It is not like high school there are students here from many different ages and it is not a place to be immature. People who attend this college are serious about their education as well as the professors are serious about their jobs.
In three sentences Palm Beach State College is a small state college where many people feel at home. It is a very safe environment and is helpful for many students transition from high school to a university. It is certaintly a good place to start if one is not ready for a big University right out of high school.

Fortunately, there are also many resources for students who just dont seem to understand and need extra help.

Dorm Life Honestly, I am not sure about the dorm life here in Palm Beach State since i do not live in a dorm. I can not rate it.

Great for these types of students Palm Beach State College is affordable and very convenient. If you reside in Florida and wish to complete an A.A., A.S., or even a Bachelor's Degree for a reasonable price this is the college you should attend. Their campuses are located in Belle Glade, Palm Beach Gardens, Lake Worth and Boca Raton. They also offer financial aid and a variety of scholarship opportunities. If you have a busy work schedule, the college also offers students the opportunity not to fall back in their learning with their online courses. Through the Blackboard, which is the online tool the college uses to teach off campus students, everyone can participate in online class discussions, as you would in a classroom.
What to do for fun There is a variety of extracurricular activities and clubs that the student can join at the college and have fun. Also, at the same time that students are having fun they get an opportunity to meet their peers and learn of opportunities for their future. Through their International Honors Society, Phi Theta Kappa, you are given the opportunity to participate in field trips and community service activities which I consider fun since they are hands on events where you collaborate in improving your community and giving your support for good causes. The college also incorporated fitness centers in the campuses which gives every student the benefit to go to a gym for free and be close to their classrooms at the same time.
Food and Dining All of Palm Beach State College's campuses have cafeterias serving quite a variety of options. The food is nothing fancy; it just ranges from chicken sandwiches to pizza. They do implement healthy eating choices such as cut fruit, yogurt, and salads. In the Lake Worth campus they offer Dunkin' Donuts for donut and coffee lovers. I personally have visited the Lake Worth and Boca Raton campus cafeteria; Lake Worth dining area does get very crowded at certain times of the day, but what is convenient I believe is that they have a small computer lab where you can also choose to sit and do your research or homework. There is plenty of space where to seat and eat comfortably. The campus cafeteria at Boca Raton is pleasant as well and what I enjoy the most is that in addition to the computer area, they also have a game room inside where you can play pool table among other games; thus, if you are stressed out about some issue you can just enter that room and play with a friend and relax.
Dorm Life No dormitories at the college.
Academic Rigor Palm Beach State College perseveres in providing its students with the right tools for achieving their academic goals. They challenge pupils with their honors courses and programs such as: the nursing, professional pilot, radiography, dental, business administration, among other programs. One of the institutions goals is implementing leadership skills in the lives of all of its students through their courses and with its honors society: Phi Theta Kappa. PBSC encourages students to build their leadership skills, and put these skills to the test in speech and leadership development class. Lastly, but most importantly are the professors; they are very knowledgeable and passionate when it comes to teaching and above all are critical thinking enthusiasts especially if you are enrolled in honors courses. It does not matter which degree you are pursuing, if an AS, AA or a Bachelor's Degree, every student gets to experience the challenge.
Tips for prospective students For all of your core courses in the college such as math, English, and literature try to attend the English and math lab; there they will help you personally by explaining to you the solution to your problem. Also, in their English lab they assist you with revising your essay projects. Their academic labs help you improve your grammar skills, researching knowledge and much more. The Student Center at the college often has workshops running for students who want to improve their writing in resume, in research papers and so on. Take advantage of all the resources and tools that PBSC provides you with and you will succeed in your classes and accomplish your academic goals.
In three sentences Palm Beach State College provides you with the adequate tools to succeed in accomplishing your goals. The college offers convenient schedules for all of the classes and benefits students that are not able to attend the campus because of work hours, with their online courses. All of PBSC campuses enable students to do great in their courses thanks to their workshops, math and English center and much more.

Great for these types of students I cannot say if this is the College for every student, so let me tell you why I feel it is good for me. Basically I'm not rich and I have to work full-time in order to take of myself and right now this College makes it possible for me to be able to pursue my dreams. It is convinent as far as location and as for the class hours, they offer so many different times which can work with my schedule.
What to do for fun The campus always hosts different events, plus there is all different kinds of sports events going on.
Food and Dining I also cannot rate this, becuase I have not had the opportunity to dine on-campus, mainly due to the fact that I take night classes and I go straight from work to class. So no real time for food until I get home.
Dorm Life I cannot rate this simply because I live at home with my parents so I am not sure what dorm life is like. If I had to guess, if it is anything like the College atmosphere it should be pretty relaxing and friendly.
Academic Rigor As far as their academics go, this College offers a wide range of classes towards many degrees. Though most of them are fairly easy, there are some that are more challenging than others. In my opinion I would not expect nothing less for those choosing a more difficult major. If you do find yourself struggling too much, the College offers free tutoring sessions to all of their students.
Tips for prospective students My advice to all future PBSC students is to make sure to do all your research as far as which classes to take towards your major. Also do not be afraid to speak to the advisors about any questions that you have, because they are there to help you. Lastly, just make sure you do not lose focus, study like you are supposed to, utilize all the tutoring centers if needed, turn all assignments in on time and you will do great!

What to do for fun The Duncan Theater on Lake Worth Campus produces beautiful cultural shows. On-campus events are not held often and word about them does not get around very well, especially if you are not involved in student affairs. However, Palm Beach County is filled with activities - especially downtown where there are a number of student-affordable shows and activities every week (some of which are free!).
Food and Dining Each Palm Beach State campus has a cafeteria with both delicious and healthful options and a Dunkin Donuts (Lake Worth campus's DD makes the best drinks, but it is not because I work there mind you). Because I have the privilege of attending the very lovely Palm Beach Gardens campus and the commodious Lake Worth campus I can assure you that there are great off-campus dining options available within five minutes of the area including Sushi bars, Starbucks, Tijuana Flats, McDonald's and Subway. If you are in the Gardens area, there is a huge mall across the street from campus that offers a great food court.

Academic Rigor Coursework may be challenging, and will require effort from the student as does any institution, but it is definitely not too much for the student to handle. Professors do keep in mind the various lives students have outside of classes, so the work load is not extreme, and free tutoring is accessible for those having a bit of trouble with courses or for those that need group study sessions before a big test. The honors college is available for students who are looking for more of a challenge.
