Great for these types of students

PHCC is great for Florida residents, local high school students, and people on a budget looking to further their careers.

    Tips for prospective students

The biggest tip I could give is to take at least one English Composition course before attempting classes that comply with the Gordon Writing Rule. Many of the classes require MLA documentation and that is best taught in English Composition I.

    Bang for the buck

PHCC definitely beats going to a university for the first two years of college. compared to a university, PHCC is by far cheaper. If you are a resident, i highly recommend taking advantage of dual enrollment to save even more money.

    Will enjoy being here

Their 4 campuses are beautiful and well equipped, with a great atmosphere for both learning and fun.

Great for these types of students

If you are pursuing a career that has a limited access program, such as LPN or RN, I would suggest living in the same county as the college. I had a 4.0 GPA and lived close to the county line of Pasco County, but lived in Hillsborough County and did not get into their program, only because I did not live in their county. I am currently pursuing other colleges because of this issue. I only wish that the college would have stressed this issue to me earlier. Other than that, this is a good college.

    Tips for prospective students

This is a good college. Colleagues are friendly and supportive. Most teachers are passionate about teaching their classes. Staff is very helpful. The classes are easy to find.

PHCC has small classes, flexible hours, and nice teachers. It is a beautiful campus. There is more than one PHCC to choose from and there are lots of clubs and sports to join.

    Tips for prospective students

Always check with advisors to be sure that classes are available. The Financial Aid Office is available by phone or walk-in appointment and they are very helpful in getting your finances in order.

There are security guards that patrol the campus to make sure nothing is happening to make students feel threatened.

    Greek Life

There are honor societies based on your major, which will help you to transfer and earn scholarships.

    Clubs and Activities

I am an ambassador and president of the Circle K International club and I would highly recommend that students find a club they enjoy or start a new one. The events on campus are always a blast and are a must for fun seeking students.

Great for these types of students

Great for students wanting a great education without overpaying for their AA or AS. PHCC is also better for students who prefer a small campus.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Any smoker looking for a quiet smoking gazebo on the Spring Hill campus should go downstairs to the secluded, peaceful gazebo and anyone looking for a clean restroom should use the upstairs bathrooms or the bathrooms in the TLC.

    Bang for the buck

You will receive the best education for a lower tuition rate.

    What to do for fun

Yoga is available to all students, there is a club to fit any interest a student may have, and there are weekly events with free food and prizes.

    Food and Dining

PHCC's West Campus has an amazing cafe and all of the other campuses always have something going on with free food.

    Dorm Life

Since PHCC is a community college, there are no dorms available.

    Academic Rigor

The teachers will challenge your mind to make sure that you leave with all of the knowledge that you need to succeed.

    Tips for prospective students

Be sure to utilize every available resource such as the Teacher Learning Center, where tutors are always available for free, never be afraid to speak to a teacher or your advisor, and always participate in on campus events, which are free because of your tuition.

    In three sentences

The staff and professors are extremely welcoming and always willing to help. The Spring Hill campus is a tight knit family who participates in all activities. I would definitely recommend this college to everyone.

It is great for people who want to find a school closer to home. People who prefer a college with a smaller student population. People who want to save a little money while going to college. Or a student that wants to get a Associate of Arts to transfer to another school.

    Tips for prospective students

Always look at the college campus to find out the layout of the school. Make at least one friend in each of your classes.

    Bang for the buck

    Greek Life

    none

    Clubs and Activities

I haven't joined any, but they are very active in our community and school.

Great for these types of students

This campus is great for any kind of student trying to start out and doesn't know what direction they want to go yet.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Every Thursday is a party in the quad!

    Bang for the buck

Out of the 3 colleges I have attended, PHCC is the best price for tuition, because they are a community college.

    What to do for fun

PHCC always has activities for keeping you healthy and in shape, yoga, kick boxing and zumba. They also plan activities outside of campus, this month they went Kayaking! Visit student activities anytime to find something fun going on.

    Food and Dining

The Quista Cafe is delicious and always has new specials everyday, very affordable.

    Dorm Life

    Unfortunately there is none.

    Academic Rigor

Great for these types of students

PHCC is awesome for kid who don't quite know what they want to do for a career and are looking for a basic AA or AS degree, or for the student who do know and would like a degree in nursing, business, police, EMT. They all go to PHCC. PHCC is actually really big on the nursing program. Or if you want to transfer to a university. They also have affiliate universities. Overall PHCC is just a AWESOME school! (:

    Tips for prospective students

Apply early and pick classes, with a new campus opening up in Spring Hill there will be a lot of new students coming in. If you apply late you might not get a good pick of the classes you want.

    Bang for the buck

Its very reasonable to attend college here if you don't have a scholarship or financial aid. PHCC does offer scholarships though and financial aid is available. The staff at PHCC want you there just as bad as you want to be there and seem to bend over backwards to make it happen. Classes are affordable which seems to lighten the load on everyone's shoulders.

    Am enjoying being here

The campuses are not huge so you wont get lost your first day. The staff is really friendly and there are SO MANY activities to get involved in. There luau's, and drum circles, and a lot of fun things to attend. There are also many events that include children for those students with kids or even students with younger siblings.

    Am learning a lot

PHCC is a awsome learning enviornment, your not in those huge auditorium classes and the its an easy transition from high school to college with the class sizes offered at PHCC. Also it lets you connect with your instructors and get better one on one learning. You'll never be ignored (:

    Bang for the buck

Tuition includes fees for programs that you may or may not be in. Activity fees, tech programs, ect. This really bothers me because I go to East campus and we have NO activities here. Maybe SGA, but other than that everything is in New Port Richey; an hour away and close to US 19. The most dangerous road in America. This is the biggest downfall for PHCC east campus. The books here are also too expensive. But then again, you can rent books from various other sites. I went to campusbookrentals.com because chegg was twice as expensive.

    Am enjoying being here

I like how all my teachers except two or three have had Ph. D's and lots of them also teach at USF. They'll tell us students good things about both schools like classes that are exactly the same either way (because they teach it and are both accredited by the same thing). Only difference is PHCC is cheaper.

    Am learning a lot

Right now I'm giving their distance learning program a shot. The online classes aren't very hard. When I'm at the school, I like it because I always go to The Learning Center in the Media Center and do my homework in there.

Great for these types of students

Students wanting an overall general education.

    Tips for prospective students

I just started attending this school this year (January). So far, the two teachers I have taken a class with have been very nice and helpful. I met with an adviser once who was quite nice as well, but not real knowledgeable about the field of study I wish to enter (marine biology). Truthfully for the money, it is a pretty good college so far. I plan to pick back up with classes in January.

    Am learning a lot

Since I am 39 years old, this is my first time back in college in a while. I am learning a lot and cannot wait to continue with my education.

    Did enjoy being here

All campuses are very beautifully landscaped, making them a very relaxing place to just sit and study on the grassy areas surrounding.

    Campus Safety

i haven't heard of any campus incidents, and the staff takes every precaution in the students safety when it comes to possible danger.

    Clubs and Activities

i don't know of any particular clubs, so i can't give much of a rating.

Great for these types of students

for students who love music, there is a small music store right by the school. if you continue to take the road to the enterance, and take a right, you'll soon come across the store. it's small, but very nice, and full of instruments.

    Bang for the buck

i would say cracker barrel is the best bang for your buck. if you're really hungry, you can easily fill up on lots of good food, for only a few dollars.

    Food and Dining

the restaurants around the spring hill campus are nice. some of the restaurantsa are panara bread, cracker barrel, duke's, and burger king, but there are many more.

    Dorm Life

there are no dorms; therefore, no dorm life.

    Academic Rigor

i find the professors easy to understand, and passionate about what they are teaching. they take time out of their day to help with something you don't understand, rather then telling you to go to the teaching-learning center.

    In three sentences

i go to the spring hill campus, and i must say it is beautiful, and well kept. the professors are kind, and always willing to help in anyway that they can. for any who wish to go to phcc, i would recommend the spring hill campus.

first thing that comes to my mind when i think of unusual traditions is peace week. peace week is a week where you get the opportunity to hear interesting speakers(such as holocaust survivors), participate in drum circles, make fun crafts, eat delicious foods, etc. all activities try to promote the idea of humans living in peace with one another.

    Bang for the buck

wow, phcc offers the best bang for the buck! not only is it very affordable, but there are also so many financial aid opportunities offered through the school. i am graduating this semester and don't owe a penny to anybody. whereas, if i had gone straight to a university, i'd most likely already have debt in the form of student loans.

    Tips for prospective students

get involved on campus! there are plenty of clubs and activities offered at phcc. what a wonderful opportunity to make friends with people through a common interest and/or objective. stay focused and dedicated to your academic work. also, stay on top of your textbook reading for classes. not only will the lectures/teaching reinforce what you've read, but you'll also be able to contribute to class discussions.

    In three sentences

phcc is an excellent college! the professors come from various careers, backgrounds, and teaching positions, so students receive a quality education just as they would receive at a university. also, the price paid for this education is extremely affordable!

    Bang for the buck

the price is unbeatable for the education and atomsphere.

    What to do for fun

each campus has a variety of clubs and organizations. the only problem is that the times and days are limited so your classes or jobs may get in the way.

    Food and Dining

there aren't any actual dining halls but there are vending machines with a wide selection and the campuses are around many dining establishments.

    Academic Rigor

the classes and material are just as difficult as any university classes are.

    Tips for prospective students

be sure to register as early as you can and it's better to get the information you need a semester or month before your semester begins. that will allow you to have better chances of all questions and concerns you have to be answered.

    In three sentences

great price for a great quality of learning. the classes are a perfect size and the campus is not over whelming. the only issue i have is that the school needs to communicate with it students better as far as scheduling and registration is concerned.

the college is fairly safe and offers some safety features. they have a system called phcc quista alerts that e-mail or send text messages to students about any safety/emergency threats on campus. there are also security guards that survery the campus and parking lots on a regular basis. overall, i feel pretty safe when on campus.

Great for these types of students

students who want to take prerequisite courses at a smaller college for a cheaper cost in the hopes of transferring to another college to earn a degree should really look into enrolling at pasco-hernando community college.

    Bang for the buck

the cost of tuition and fees are amazing for students who have limited financial aid or scholarships. the low cost of attendance was actually the factor that drove me to enroll here. the school does not offer as much activities as larger colleges, but at the cost the resources available are still excellent.

    What to do for fun

the campus offers a couple of fun student activities. there are a good number of clubs, including the student government, and these clubs sometimes host their own events. there is a sports type of activity club and if you are ever bored students can head over to the student center. in the student center friends can watch t.v., play billiards, and ping pong.

    Food and Dining

there is only one food vendor/dining establishment on the campus. the food gets pretty good reviews and the menu includes salad, chicken wrap, and chicken strip combo. the prices are reasonable but the only inconvenience is that you can only pay with cash.

    Dorm Life

my campus does not have on campus dormitories so i am a commuter.

    Academic Rigor

in high school, i was used to a very rigorous course load that always kept me busy with writing research papers and outlining notes. i have to say that all of my classes are straight forward and not as much of a challenge compared to some of my high school courses.

    Tips for prospective students

whenever there are events being held on campus that give away food or any other type of freebie or activity, go early because they run out of supplies/food very quickly! i've found most students to be very friendly and it is super easy to form study groups for classes!

It isn't very rigorous. The core classes are similar to the ones you take in high school. If you are looking for more rigor, they offer honors classes.

Also, try to take classes with your friends, provided they won't distract you too much.

The campus feels beyond safe! The faculty members and students are all so hardworking and friendly. Pasco-Hernando (Spring Hill) has a campus that is only about 4 years old so its extrelemly clean and organized. I haven't recognized any hazardous behavior/building condition.

    Clubs and Activities

People who are striving different degrees ranging from psychology or nursing, there are always different clubs that involve the academics the school provides in the classroom, or aspects that take place off campus. There are so many options that make great time passers and ways to make friends.

Great for these types of students

Someone who is very calm, wants a distraction-free environment and enjoys a small populated facility.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Every school in the states is different from one another, so it will always seem unusual to someone who has never experienced it before. Nothing I can really pick off the brain right now.

    Bang for the buck

If you're a Florida resident, be thankful! Our tuition starts at $2,500 and goes up from there. Anyone who studies at our school who resides elsewhere, will find their tuition and other school/personal charges starting at $10,000 and higher. This is a Community College however, so any expense here would seem more realistic than a university for those who find themselves on a strict budget to avoid debt. You can't put a price on education, after all, it is the only thing you have that will last forever & NO ONE can take that away from you!

    What to do for fun

A lot of my friends who attend, like to promote their band around campus. Even though they do not play in the band for school, it gives everyone a chance to watch them play on the weekends and bring students together. (I made a lot of friends this way)

The cafeteria is above average. Kiss your high school lunch food goodbye. Our cafeteria has better quality and choices.

    Dorm Life

I myself, do not live on campus, only have a 5 minute commute from home. However, my friends who live on/near campus absolutely love life being part of the school. It's not the party scene you see in movies. Its very calm and worth the tuition (from what I hear and see).

    Academic Rigor

Some students fresh out of High School can be a bit unsettling, but the staff definitely keeps everything free of distractions so you have a relaxing and stress free environment to study and focus in.

    Tips for prospective students

I would suggest that hands-on or visual students (such as myself) take classes on campus rather than online classes. The staff members are wonderful and work with you at your own pace. It's definitely a great visual experience which prepares you for your career. I don't like to call it school, I love to call it career training!

On such a little campus I can always rest easy knowing that while I'm in class, there are several security guards patrolling the parking lots. They are never out of reach.

    Clubs and Activities

There are so many clubs offered at all the campuses and it seems they are always hosting activities.

Great for these types of students

If you're going to college for an education, not just to party, this is the school for you. Sensible students will also enjoy this college because of how affordable the cost compared to others.

    Bang for the buck

For half the price you pay at another university, you can take the same classes at PHCC and stay local. It's a no-brainer really.

    What to do for fun

Aside from the usual sports games, the college also hosts many events to raise awareness of specific causes and unite students. Last week they hosted Peace Week accompanied with music, food and guest speakers. Often times there are yoga classes offered among the laundry list of other activities.

    Food and Dining

Along with coffee stands and the Quista cafe, there are many snack and soda machines on campus. You'll never go hungry, that's for sure!

    Dorm Life

There are no dorms for this school.

    Academic Rigor

Just because this is a junior college, that doesn't mean its curriculum is any less rigorous. The professors challenge their students and grade just as any other college would.

    Tips for prospective students

Take the time to sit down with an advisor so that you can be assured you have your priorities straightened out. There can be many steps to the application process that seem overwhelming but the counselors are there to help.

    In three sentences

The campus has a very beautiful and welcoming environment. Class sizes are small so that students have the opportunity to connect with their instructors on a personal level. Overall I have found the college and its staff to be friendly and inviting.

At the campus there is a couple of things you can do for fun. There is the student center that offers pool table, ping pong, game consoles and a TV. There is also a gym for basketball, workout, and dodge ball.

    Food and Dining

I will give the food dining no stars. The reason for this is because, we really don't have any food campus, just vending machines. And as far as dining there is no cafeteria, just tables outside.

    Dorm Life

The east campus that I'm currently a student at doesn't have dorms.

    Academic Rigor

I wouldn't want to say that our academic rigor is perfect, but this college does have great academic status. The classes are small and you can get one on one with your teacher. You will actually feel like a student, not just another number.

    Tips for prospective students

The tips I would give for prospective students is know what you are going to college for. If you are confused there are great programs that this college offers. From getting your AA and transferring to a public university to getting a trade. Another tip is make an appt ahead of time to meet with an academic advisor because the walk in wait time is long.

The Quista Cafe is the on campus cafeteria, and has decent food for a decent price. I didn't go there regularly, but the few times I went, it was enjoyable. You can get burgers, salads, coffee, and a variety of other things. The burgers are made fresh, so you have to wait a few minutes, but it beats something sitting under a heat lamp, for sure.

    What to do for fun

I did not participate in any extra activities. There were a few clubs. I did not have time to participate. They did go abroad for Humanities but I was unable to come up with money to go.

    Food and Dining

Vending machines were what they had. Sometimes there were clubs giving out free food. Satisfied with vending choices.

    Dorm Life

This was a two year college and there was no dorm life.

    Academic Rigor

Most of the teachers were very helpful and accessible. There were some teachers who I felt were not knowledgeable on the topic being taught. If you put forth the effort to get to know the teacher, it helped with final grade.

    Tips for prospective students

Always double check that your requests through the office have been made. Check online before signing up for classes to see what others have said about a teacher you will be taking. Make sure the classes you are taking count toward your goals for your major.

    In three sentences

Overall the teaching staff is efficient and friendly. I found the office staff not efficient in supplying my future college with my transcripts. The small classes made it easy to work well within group settings.

I also really like that they offer my major so I am able to take all my classes for about a 1/4 of the price that I would be paying at a University.

    What to do for fun

    Campus Safety

Safety is everything, without it no one would ever show up. Safety is a top priority at PHCC, all campuses are well watched with campus guards rolling 24/7, if your car ever gets stuck they'll help you in any way they can. And PHCC is a very well mannered school you will not be harassed by anyone.

    Clubs and Activities

This College has plenty of clubs at least over 20 different types of them, their availability is very flexible too, so not being able to make it to one of their meetings is tough.

Great for these types of students

Students that are not sure what they want to do, Students that like small classrooms and students that want to be prepared for when they go to a University.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

I wouldn't call it unusual but during their peace week, PHCC has such amazing traditions they do with the students. Everyday of the week they would have different things dedicated on that day, this includes speeches from experienced people, free food, drinks, and beautiful music.

    Bang for the buck

PHCC offers great transferable credits to mostly any university or college. And its a great place to start off your future if other schools were just a little more expensive than you thought.

    What to do for fun

If somebody is really bored there was quite a few things you could have done. Such as go to the gym, work out, play basketball at the court, unlimited wireless use for their network, play billards, ping pong you name it.

    Food and Dining

The only campus PHCC offered really food and dining was the West campus in New Port Richey. The food was really good but a tad too expensive for a college student, don't get me wrong it was very fresh. I just wish my Dade city campus would have offered it.

    Dorm Life

Since this was a Community College, there was no dorms so its very difficult for me to give them a rating.

    Academic Rigor

The academics was amazing, small classes, very well mannered, attentive and easy as long as you put in work to actually strive.

    Tips for prospective students

Go for it! It really is true what the commercial says about it, find yourself here, until I actually took a few classes I was pretty much dead set on what I wanted to do, that's until two semester ago they opened my eyes. So this school is a great eye opener.

There are several clubs and events around campus. There is a gym one can go to and there is a student lounge with a pool table, ping pong table and plenty of tv's as well. Your free to bring cards to play and on occasion there will be video game consoles in the lounge to play with your fellow students.

    Food and Dining

Theres is no dedicated food on the campus I go to. There are four campuses, soon to be five, and the Dade city campus one does not have food establishments on campus. Make sure to either bring food to eat, or stop by the surrounding town and find a local place to eat.

    Dorm Life

There are no dorms on campus so make sure to be prepared to have a housing arrangement set-up prior to your semester starting.

    Academic Rigor

The classes I have taken have varied in difficulty but for the most part as long as you work hard, complete your assignments, participate in class then you will be able to be proficient in passing your class. The hardest classes are science group of classes including chemistry, biology, anatomy etc. It also depends on your professor as those subjects have a priority on memorization be prepared for that.

    Tips for prospective students

A good thing to do is to make sure to get your textbooks, used, rented or even buy online as with much colleges the prices are quite high. Also having fellow students numbers or email just in case you miss class or need help is also a good tool as well. Show up to class, study hard, utilize free tutoring if needed, and ask help from fellow students or the professor if you need help.

Great for both part/full-time students, new or still in high school. Those who are looking for flexibility and affordability. Also, perfect for students who aren't ready to fully commit to a university just yet.

    Bang for the buck

Honestly, PHCC is affordable, especially if you receive financial aid. I went to a university before I attended here and regret that decision. I wish I would have gone to a community college right out of high school instead because this school helps prepare you for the university life. I think this college is worth your money... the professors care, there are people on-campus that want to help you, online classes that offer flexibility, and a classes that make you feel comfortable with smaller class sizes compared to a university which sometimes has 100 students to 1 teacher.

    What to do for fun

PHCC offers many extra-curricular activities such as sports and clubs. There are many opportunities to interact with other students. Outside of school, there is a movie theater, shopping centers, arcades, and the beach!

    Academic Rigor

I took a mixture of online and on-campus classes and most were pretty challenging. Some of my professors were actually attending college themselves, so they knew what they liked/disliked of their professors and taught accordingly.
