    Campus Safety

To enter the building you need a badge or you need to go through security to get a visitors pass.

Great for these types of students

Great for students that are not wanting the typical college experience. Most students go to class and then live lives outside of college.

    Bang for the buck

Lancaster General College is not overly expensive, but just like any college it is not cheap. You do get an excellent education though, so it is well worth it. Plus, the financial aid office will work with you.

    What to do for fun

The school has some random pizza parties or cookouts or giveaways for students.

    Food and Dining

The school does not have a large cafeteria. There are some vending machines, refrigerators and microwaves. However, if you want an actual meal, most students walk to the hospital which is about two blocks away and eats at their cafeteria or one of their restaurants.

    Dorm Life

There are nearby apartments that you can rent, but there are not any dorms. Most students live in Lancaster County and seem to commute.

    Academic Rigor

Nursing school is not easy, but it is well worth it. You have to out alot of work into it, but what you get out is much better.

    Tips for prospective students

Always try your hardest because you will only get out of it what you put in. Read materials before class, come prepared, and study hard; this is not high school, you have to work hard to get your degree. Don't be afraid to ask questions, the staff there are really nice and always willing to help you.

    In three sentences

Lancaster General College has everything that I want to get out of college. The teachers are great at working with you and keeping topics interesting to your future. My schedule is flexible and it is not too hard to complete.

    Campus Safety

I feel the campus is safe as they have security on site whenever there are people in the building as well as certain hours where the doors are locked to the public and can only be accessed through a badge. They make you sign in if you have no badge so they know who is in the building.

    Greek Life

I am not aware of any sororities or fraternities offered through the college.

    Clubs and Activities

I am not aware of clubs or activities through the college.

Great for these types of students

Independent and serious students are more likely to succeed in this environment. People looking for the college experience would not like it here as there is not a campus life to be had.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

    None that I know of.

    Bang for the buck

First and second semesters are a wealth of information and experience. Third and fourth semesters are harder as instructors become less informative and more aggressive in their expectations. It is imperative to be able to teach yourself need to know information and not expect instructors to hand feed you information. Overall, I believe the college tuition is more than the college gives.

    What to do for fun

This is primarily an academic based school so there is not a huge emphasis placed on fun extracurricular activities. Lancaster city provides numerous opportunities for fun as it is rich in culture and diversity .

    Food and Dining

You can eat at the Lancaster General Hospital cafeteria with a 20% discount off of your purchase. There are vending machines in the college for snacks and drinks.

    Dorm Life

I commute from York to Lancaster. I believe there are apartments available to new students, in Lancaster, not attached to the school.

    Academic Rigor

Pennsylvania College of health sciences provides an environment where I am academically challenge however they also provide an opportunity for me to succeed. Personally, I feel that I have been pushed to my limits but I have not felt abandoned in my pursuit of knowledge. There are proverbial potholes as it pertains to the academic advising. You need to know how and when to contact your advisor and sometimes be at able to change her schedule as their schedule permits.

    Tips for prospective students

This college employees some of the best and hardest teachers I have encountered thus far in my educational career. The program is robust and will leave you prepared for your intended career path in nursing. If you are interested in attending make sure that you are financially sound and have the money or funding secured prior to attending. What ever this institution offers educationally for your advancement in this career field it is similarly lacking in financial prowess and financial aid assistance.

    In three sentences

I applied and attended this institution because of their reputation. The college has a very good educational program. If you are not financially independent; however, do not think that you can attend without any amount of struggle as it pertains to financial aid.
