Campus police do rounds around the campus all the time.

    Greek Life

Not on this campus. University Park has them all.

    Clubs and Activities

PSUHazy has many great clubs and activities. Join them!

Great for these types of students

    All types.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

When someone says We Are..., you must shout back Penn State. That goes for all Penn State Campuses.

    Bang for the buck

Not as expensive as University Park.

    What to do for fun

Join clubs, and go on the day trips.

    Food and Dining

Depends. The cafe has its good days.

    Dorm Life

Amazing! Live on campus. You won't regret it.

    Academic Rigor

All you have to do is set time aside to study.

    Tips for prospective students

Have fun. College is about work and fun.

    In three sentences

In three sentences? Hmmm...This campus has many opportunities. It has a small class size to teacher ratio. The parties are fun. In all, PSU Hazy is a great place.

Great for these types of students

This school is great for those who like one-on-one help with teachers and those who like small, quiet settings.

    Tips for prospective students

If you want to come here, make sure you don't change yourself for anyone. Don't party too much and stay focused on your schoolwork. It isn't that hard, but you can lose yourself really quickly if you are easily influenced.

    Bang for the buck

We pay a little less than the students at University Park, but I honestly don't think that it's worth all that money if we compare the things that University Park students receive and Hazleton students receive. They get a lot more than us and I don't think it's fair.

    Am enjoying being here

The statement college is what you make it is completely true. Hazleton is a small campus so it's hard to find things to do. There aren't as many parties in downtown Hazleton nor on campus, but there are other many activities on campus daily!

    Am learning a lot

The school is small so there is always one-on-one time with your professor. The teachers explain their lessons well and they aren't too harsh with their grading policies. If ever you need help, the tutors are in abundance. Just ask for help!

Great for these types of students

Great for students who enjoy close one on one learning environments and a teacher who knows your name. Also great for students who plan to go to the main campus, this is a cheap way to get your Gen Eds. completed, before paying the cost of tuition at the main campus.

    Tips for prospective students

Make your school work your first and second priorities! Before you do extracurricular activities make sure you have completed your work for the day. Always stay on top of your classes' work deadlines; consider placing sticky notes or notes in your phone that are easily accessible. Set up your email so that you can check it at least twice a day because professors send emails often regarding class work or class cancellations. When you need help with classes, do not be afraid to ask your teachers for their office hours, or their contact information to discuss what you do not understand and make sure to participate.

    Bang for the buck

Penn State Hazleton is not the least expensive school to attend, especially when you live on campus for your freshman and sophomore years. If it were the main campus, it would be more of a bang for your buck, but the fact that you can pay less to learn your Gen Eds. before you transfer to a larger campus is a big plus.

    Am enjoying being here

Although Penn State Hazleton is small in comparison to the main campus, or the bigger campuses it, does have its benefits. Being that it is a smaller campus, you can easily get exceptional one on one attention in classes and with administration on the campus. Faculty and staff here are very helpful and make themselves openly available to students because they understand hardships students face when they do not understand something or cannot complete a task as quickly as others can. There is an abundance of students and activities on and off campus and luckily Penn State Hazleton offers special free events throughout each semester. Overall, I enjoy this campus and its environment and am excited to transfer to Penn State's main campus in 2012.

    Am learning a lot

Penn State Hazleton offers an abundance of classes to take, but it is mainly for Gen Eds., first year and second year students. They aim to prepare you for a move to a bigger campus. Still in all, with the Gen Eds. offered, you are able to learn and explore majors and interests until you make a move to a larger campus.

    Bang for the buck

Attending PSU Hazleton is not exactly bang for your buck. It is cheaper than attending main campus. There are cheaper options than Hazleton, but the experience you gain from attending this campus make it worthwhile. Also, Hazleton is fairly close to main campus and New York. So if ever you have time and a ride your not to far from fun.

    Did enjoy being here

PSU Hazleton allowed me the privilege of being far from home. However, Hazleton, PA is not really a college town so your options of finding things to do for entertainment are limited unless you have car. On the bright side because it's a smaller campus, you really to get to know your professors on a closer level. The small campus really creates a family feel you get to know everybody on campus, shy or not.

    Did learn a lot

I learned a lot pertaining to my future major here. The professors take the time to make sure you get the material, and tutoring is easily and readily available.

the waterfall is great for any student that needs to relax and escape from papers, homework, tests, or crazy professors. the campus itself is great for any student.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

a unusual location on campus is the waterfall. not many college campuses can say they have a waterfall in it. it's not big but its still nice to look at and relaxing.

    Bang for the buck

the education is excellent. you are getting a penn state education at a cheaper price. it is still the same material as main campus in state college pa and just as hard.

    What to do for fun

for fun i usually go to the movies with friends or hang out in the mall. i also cheer and is a member of thon. i also like hanging out in the student lounge with my friends.

    Food and Dining

the food on campus isn't that bad. there are also many restaurants around campus within walking distance that take lion cash (money on your id) or has the paws program which gives you student discount on food.

    Dorm Life

i don't dorm but i have stayed over at my friends dorm a few times and they are nice. north hall is the best dorms because they are the newest. the ra's in all the dorms are nice.

    Academic Rigor

courses are challenging but not impossible. most of the classes are interesting. if you are having trouble with a subject there is a lot of help you can get on campus.

    Tips for prospective students

    Campus Safety

Police patrol and drive around campus constantly. There are boxes all around campus if you ever need help to call the police.

    Greek Life

No greek life on Hazleton campus.

    Clubs and Activities

SGA, Lion Ambassadors, Cheer leading, Allies, Chorus, Film Club, Comedy Club, Blue and White Society, Outdoor Club, Chorus, THON, and many more clubs pertaining to majors like psychology, engineering etc. YOU CAN ALWAYS START A CLUB TO IF YOU FEEL THERE ISN'T ONE FOR YOU

    What to do for fun

College is what YOU make of it. But some things in the area is movie theater, bowling, outlets (45 mins away), mall. You mostly need a car to go most places.

    Food and Dining

Meal plans are set up in six levels, one being the lowest and six being the highest. which ever meal plan you choose to have its a certain dollar amount to budget per semester. For example the lowest meal plan you get about $500 to budget per semester. You can swipe as many times as you want but once that $500 is gone thats it At that point you would have to go online and add more money. You can add money anytime through the semester or raise or lower you meal plan level. Choose your meal plan level based on how much YOU eat. A suggestion would be to start lower to get a feel of how much exactly you eat and then reason out how much more you should raise your meal plan (ex. meal plan 1 to 3). Keep in mind cafe food is also 65% off any food they make and 10% package food.

    Dorm Life

As a incoming first year student, definitely live at south residence halls because it allows you to meet the people in your class. Majority of this bunch you are going to be spending time with so mines well get acquainted earlier in the year then when its too late. South residence halls are set up in doubles and you share a bathroom with the floor. West residence halls are like townhouses, where there are 6-8 in a house. North Residence halls are suites where there could be 4-6 people to a suite. No dorms on campus have kitchens/stoves etc. but all rooms come with a fridge and microwave.

    Academic Rigor

Its like any education system you faced in your life time. There are challenging courses and courses you will find easy. Professors do have your best interest at heart, so if you do find yourself struggling seek help immediately. Don't be afraid to challenge yourself with some courses because if you aim for a whole bunch of easy courses you will become bored with your schedule or even worst fall behind.

    Tips for prospective students

Come into college open-minded, focused, and ready to make the best of the years. Branch out, participate in clubs, attend campus activities because it not only adds to experience it allows you to network. Its good to come in with a friend(s) but don't try to just stick ONLY to those friends. Remember college is what YOU make of it.

    In three sentences

Penn State offers a perfect away experience for students to gain that independence and responsibility that comes with college. The pride of the school motivates you and the environment of the classrooms isn't as overwhelming. Hazleton is one of the most diverse campuses which I think helps students to branch out

A lot of the buildings on campus weren't built for the school and go back along time. They remained on the property and are used for offices and classrooms.

    Bang for the buck

This school is pretty cheap in my eyes and what you pay for you get. Not that you will be getting less for the price, but everyone you pay or will be a benefit to you. There is a bus that goes through campus and off campus, a library where you have printing privileges through your payment and many other things.

For fun there are many activities including exercising, walking in the woods by campus, taking part in bingo, and fundraisers. Yoga and Insanity takes place every week if not more, which will keep anyone busy.
