Great for these types of students

students who are afraid of huge campus. Students to want to know everyone

    Tips for prospective students

Be ready to be nurtured by the community. Because the campus is small, everyone is a family.

    Bang for the buck

If this means its worth the money then i guess it is, but I say college really should not cost this much.

    Am enjoying being here

Even though the smell of manure can sometimes be bad, you will generally get used to it. It is worth it because the mountain air is amazing.

    Am learning a lot

Not only am I learning educational material from wonderful professors but I am always learning how to live and manage my time on a small campus in the middle of nowhere.

you get the penn state education with the price of a smaller campus. there are several people here to help you learn if you ever need help.

    What to do for fun

there are several activities that are sponsored by the school and are free for students. you can also spend time in friend's rooms since you won't have to travel far to see them. if you have a car, you can always find some fun off campus.

    Food and Dining

the food is good and does have some variety but it will get old to you from eating mostly the same things over and over. however, they've recently been trying to bring more types of food.

    Dorm Life

the dorms are very close knit and it's easy to make friends. despite the fact that this is a small campus, there will always be someone to talk to and to become friends with.

    Academic Rigor

    In three sentences

this campus is small and family oriented and maintains the principles that a large penn state campus would have. be sure to stay focused, even during your first semester, and keep all of your goals in mind so you don't lose track of yourself and who you want to be.

Penn State Mont Alto is a beautiful school and i cant wait to go there. I've learned so much just going there and talking to the advisors and the financial aid Mr's. Gilland. This college has one of the most percentages of graduates and one of the least percentages of transfer and dropouts. I'm extremely happy to be accepted to this school and can't wait to start this fall.

The food is fairly good and there are different varieties in the Millstream Cafe. There are things that vary from salads, soups, sandwiches, pizza, and hot meals at dinner time. It is also a great hang-out spot for you and your friends to get some down time.

    Dorm Life

The best part about dorm life is friends. Some of the best people that you will meet in your lifetime will be there. The dorms themselves are always neat and there are Residence Assistants on call 24/7 for your convenience.

    Academic Rigor

All of the teachers are respectful and give you their full, undivided attention if you have a concern or a question. They are not only your teachers at Mont Alto, but also long time friends that you can refer back to in the future for advice. Bang for the buck

Penn State has the highest in state tuition of any state university. However you are getting the name. People always recognize Penn State for their excellent academic program.

    What to do for fun

Mont Alto IS a secluded campus. While there are malls nearby, most fun is student activities and interactions on campus. It can be somewhat laid back at times, but it's a very tight knit student community so that helps.

    Food and Dining

At Mont Alto campus, there is the main dining area (The Mill) and a coffee shop (Cafe Java). The mill has pretty decent hours and there are usually a few good options. The fresh salad bar is something I frequently take advantage of.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are ok. Nothing spectacular, but it's a place to live. I've definitely seen much worse at other colleges.

    Academic Rigor

Classes are smaller sized so professors can get to know each student individually and become aware of their capabilities. Each student is pushed to their potential and must be able to perform up to Penn State standards.

    Tips for prospective students

Mont Alto is a smaller campus and is somewhat secluded. While it is an excellent campus for being in a position in a club and taking classes, the social aspect isn't what it might be if you were to attend a different Penn State campus.

    In three sentences

Penn State Mont Alto is an excellent campus because you get the Penn State name without being completely overwhelmed. It is a small campus so the education is more one on one due to class sizes being smaller. You also get more time to interact with professors which can be beneficial to not only you academic career but your professional career as well.

    Food and Dining

The food is not all that great. Mostly fried food.

    Dorm Life

Generally dorm life goes pretty well. The freshman dorm usually has the most adjustments.

    Academic Rigor

The classes aren't too hard. The classes that are more difficult are the calculus and physics and chem classes.

    Tips for prospective students

    What to do for fun

If your looking to have fun you can always visit your friends at there dorm room. You can also start your own campus club and if enough people join it could be established as a new campus club for whomever wants to join. You can also go to the library and use the computers for fun. Also the campus holds different activities and events that you could attend and in some cases they give out prizes

    Food and Dining

There are a variety of food selections at The Mill in Month Alto. The students prepare the food and you choose exactly what you want. The dining area is big and you have the choice to eat wherever you want on campus. The food is good as well as other snacks and delicious treats to go along with your meal.

    Dorm Life

The dorms here at Mont Alto are not as spacious as dorms on other campuses but they are cozy. I advise that if you are looking to study at night to do so in the study room because the halls get a little loud from people having fun. There is also off campus housing which are pretty much the same except they have a little more room. Other than the noise the dorm life is awesome

    Academic Rigor

There is a lot of encouragement from the professors. As a young adult you will not be forced to attend your classes. If you want to do good you have to commit because no one is going to do the work for you. Be responsible for your own education and do what is best for you and have fun doing it.

    Tips for prospective students

I encourage students who are looking into this particular campus to stay focus on there work. The sources you need are all around you and if you are having trouble someone will be glad to point you in the right direction. Ask questions and don't be afraid or embarrassed to use your tutor because you are not alone. Help fellow classmates along the way if you can.

    In three sentences

Mont Alto is a small campus for those who'd rather attend a less crowded atmosphere. The students and staff are very helpful and they are also great listeners. Everything is close by and you won't have any trouble fitting in.

    Greek Life

Great for these types of students

The Mont Alto campus is great for students who enjoy being in nature, the campus is covered in trees and sits at the bottom of the mountain, it is not located in a city by any means, there are shopping and dining near by but not within 10 miles. It is a very secluded campus that is peaceful.

    Bang for the buck

I think the education at Penn State Mont Alto is very good for the price of tuition, class sizes are small, professors know their students on a personal level, and there are many options for students who need help in classes or their personal life.

    What to do for fun

There are many activities on campus students can take advantage of just for being a PSU student, the most popular things to do are join clubs, esically THON, watching sporting events, and attending planned activities such as bingo or bowling which are free to all students with a PSU ID card.

    Food and Dining

The food in the Millstream cafe' is of good quality, it sometimes lacks variability, but the food presented each day is very tasty.

    Dorm Life

I do not personally live on campus but have been in and stayed in the dorms many times, it is college, not a 5 star hotel on a vacation, they are clean and reasonable sized but nothing extravagant. Having friends on your floor in the dorms is what makes the experience better for students.

    Academic Rigor

The campus pushes students to their potential and to get the most out of their education experience.

    Tips for prospective students

Getting to know your professors is the best advice i have, with small class sizes most of your professors will know you by name, talk to them and make sure you know their office hours and where their office is located. Do not be afraid to ask them for assistance and the Academic Support Center on campus is a great resource most students on campus use.
