Tips for prospective students Use the resources Penn State has to offer. They are great. Most of the teachers there are very interested in helping you learn. They are not just there to teach you. So, if you have questions or are confused about something, feel free to ask. Also, if you are confused about which class to take based on the professor, check them out on ratemyprofessor.com.

Categories Comments Campus Safety We have around the clock security to prevent any issues
Clubs and Activities Penn State New Kensington has a club for everyone
Great for these types of students People who open themselves up to the experience.
Food and Dining Cafe 780 has great food and good entertainment.
Dorm Life I do not live in a dorm so I would not know.
Tips for prospective students Some tips are know what you want to do, because switching majors makes college harder. Enjoy all Penn State has to offer. Finally say the words We Are and someone will always answer Penn State
In three sentences I love Penn State New Kensington, because of the understanding professors, activities, and the small campus life style. I like the close campus, which saves on gas now. I love that it's easy to make friends and then you have someone to talk to as you go through the college experience

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities There are plenty of clubs to get involved in, from Student Government to outdoor adventures.
What to do for fun The school CAB club is always planning fun events and concerts that happen on weekends, and they have different themed weeks for the students to take part in. Not only is it fun, but its a great way to also meet new people.
Food and Dining The cafeteria has excellent food to chose from, and a healthy assortment at that.
Dorm Life Even though the apartment building only has a possible 100 kids living within them, it gives you the oppurtunity to meet and become close with those who surround you. Most of the students who live in the apartments are out of state, or even from another country. It is a great way to meet new people in a simple manner.
Academic Rigor The education we receive is top of the line. The Professors are always there to lend a helping hand when needed, and never turn there backs on us. As students we excell in many areas that others cannot, not only are we given the best education, but we have the support that we need to effectively learn the material given.
Tips for prospective students For incoming students I would suggest getting involved in as many of our clubs as you can. The campus has a lot to offer and gives you and exceptional amount of room to grow not only educationally, but also as a person. I would also suggest living in the apartment buildings that are provided, because it allows you to be even more involved with the people on campus.
In three sentences Penn State New Kensington is a smaller branch campus of Penn State University. It is basically a commuters college, with minimal living space. Even though we do not all live together, however, the school is it's own tiny flourishing community, and we are all like family.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Very good.
Clubs and Activities Am starting goalkeeper for the soccer team
Great for these types of students Students who are more serious about their studies and not partying.
Bang for the buck It's been a great experience so far. Only at the end of my first semester and am planning on staying thru the second year then transferring to another Penn State campus
What to do for fun I play soccer and just signed up for flag football.
Food and Dining Cafeteria is pretty good, and love the Ice Chai Tea.
Dorm Life I live off campus, which is one reason I started out here.
Academic Rigor The Biology program is very rigorous, but am enjoying it. Get a good study routine down and you will do ok.
Tips for prospective students Find an advisor you like and let them help you.
In three sentences I have had a great experience so far. I am a goalkeeper for their soccer team and we made it to the playoffs this year. The professors have been helpful and the classrooms are a nice size.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There are a lot of things to do in free time around campus. You can join a sports team or a club if you have a lot of time. Every Friday at 8 pm there are campus-wide games in the athletic center, and during Common Hour quite often there are bands or comedians that come in to entertain. Similarly, every year Penn State New Ken chooses a country of focus and sends interested students there on spring break. For example, this year, the country of focus was Ireland, so there are Irish-themed events throughout the year leading up to the date when students make the one week trip to Ireland.
Food and Dining There is a cafe but the food is limited and pretty expensive.
Dorm Life I commute so I can't really rate this.
Academic Rigor I'm not sure what it is like at other colleges, but none of the courses really seem that difficult here. However, the teachers are really good and help to make sure everyone understands the material.
Tips for prospective students I reccomend that students do not take multiple classes at once that require multiple essays to be written. It becomes very hard to finish 3 or 4 6-8 page essays in a week. Also college becomes much more enjoyable when you make friends early on.
In three sentences I would say that Penn State New Kensington is a good place to attend if you are unsure of what you will be majoring in. Classes are generally small, the teachers are usually well qualified and interesting, and the school has a friendly atmosphere. For me, the only drawback is that the students here aren't as intelligent as I would like.

What to do for fun Student life is awesome! We do cool stuff all the time, and it's a great way to make friends!
Food and Dining We have a cafe.
Dorm Life We have apartments, don't expect much.
Academic Rigor It has the same hard courses, it's just easier to succeed with such small classes and one on one time with the professors.
Tips for prospective students Don't be sad you're staying at home, you're saving money and you'll have a good time.
In three sentences Close nit, close to home school that is built for you to succeed. There are so many fun things to do and opportunities to have fun while you do your school work. With small class sizes, you could never fail.
