    Campus Safety

There is security inside and security service that patrols the campus day and night.

    Bang for the buck

Phillips Clinical Training Offices provide a valuable link to community resources and professional activities for students. The Offices assist students during the process of acquiring their supervised clinical experience in qualified training agencies throughout Southern California and has approved approximately 200 training agencies in the Los Angeles area, San Fernando Valley, San Gabriel Valley, Ventura County, Orange County, Antelope Valley, and San Bernadino County. The faculty and school are involved in many community project that students can participate in to grow and make contact for employment upon completion of their programs.

    What to do for fun

This is Southern California, there is plenty of fun things to do, sunny beaches, amusement parks, Hollywood, Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, Los Angeles Zoo and San Diego zoos, Wild Animal Farm and host of other game places to go to. There is also the interaction with the cohorts plus the school has various activities one can get involved with.

    Food and Dining

Phillips has a few vending machines but there are plenty of fantastic restaurants and fast food places in the area with five minutes of the campus; also a mall.

    Dorm Life

Phillips has on campus classes but no housing. There are newly built apartment complexes within 5 to 15 minutes of the campus.

    Academic Rigor

B- is a repeat but a student will know in plenty of time before the semester ends if he/she is not doing well and what needs to take place to get the grade to a B or above. The basic grading system and requirements are given the first class meeting; the faculty keeps students well informed. There is no need to fail or have to repeat a class.

    Tips for prospective students

If you are ready to discover who you are , find what you have to give back, push to what seems as your limit and ready to grow, Phillips Graduate Institute is the place for you. Also, if you are ready to study, work and grow for three intense years, no break in Organizational Management and Consulting doctorate program--then Phillips is the place for you. Of course, Phillips is also known for its Marriage and Family Therapy program and counseling center.

PGI, is right next to the Northridge mall. There are lots of dinning options. The dinning area is very comfortable, equipped with refrigerator, microwave, toaster and coffee maker.

    Tips for prospective students

I know the tuition at PGI is a bit scary but if you are going to invest in something, it might as well be yourself!. Other colleges may have a lower tuition but at PGI, you are really paying for the support that they give you. Smaller school = more attention and assistance that that teachers can give you.

    In three sentences

PGI is a great school. The faculty are beyond supportive. Grad school is always intimidating but teacher do a great job of easing all your anxiety.

    Academic Rigor

Ranked 7010th among colleges and universities, student reviewers gave Phillips Graduate Institute (PGI) an overall quality rating of D- (see the link below). http://www.studentsrevie From personal experience, I could NOT recommend PGI to anyone. Recently, when the school's registrar was caught freely giving out confidential student information (a Department of Education [FERPA 20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99] Privacy Act violation), the school's executive team treated the issue with complete disregard and callous insensitivity. With an interest in resolving this issue, I personally made an appointment with the school's president only to be stood up. Unfortunately, this was not the only time that I and others have been treated with apathy and distain by the school's executive team. I found PGI's instructional staff supportive and while they always showed interest in the students they were often hamstrung by poor management, politics and/or ever-shrinking budgets and bankrupt leadership. The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) had PGI on probation for years largely because of the school's questionable financial sustainability (https://wascsenior.app.b). According to WASC's most recent report (see link above), PGI has made some progress but the institution remains in a precarious financial position. With this in mind WASC has encouraged PGI to find investment capital and PGI has been courting Sterling Partners as a possible investor. Still, this ambitious merger is far from becoming anything one might call serious, thus leaving PGI at risk of failure despite WASC's best efforts to encourage investment. Given repeated bad experiences, the administration's lethargy and their general lack of concern for their students welfare I would NEVER agree to attend PGI. The only reason I went to PGI was because they were the only institution who offered an 18 month MFT program; something they are no longer allowed to do. Pepperdine and Cal State Northridge (CSUN) both offer stronger academics, influential alumni associations and competent administrations. As an alum I remain concerned; why? First, an alumni association can be one's greatest ally upon graduation and throughout one's career, but PGI's alumni association remains anemic largely because of PGI's reputation. Second, and more significantly, PGI's future reputation will greatly influence any potential employer's perception of its graduates and it influences how potential patients might perceive their graduates, especially when compared against colleagues who graduated elsewhere. The odds remain greatly against an improved perception of PGI in the future, given said circumstances, potentially leaving PGI graduates with virtually worthless credentials.

    Tips for prospective students

    Very Bad Administration. Weak academics.

    In three sentences

I DO NOT recommend Phillips Graduate Institute.
