Tuition, Cost & Aid

Affordability and Cost

Average Net Price Average net price for full-time, first-time degree/certificate-seeking undergraduates paying the in-state or in-district tuition rate who were awarded grant or scholarship aid from federal, state or local governments, or the institution. Other sources of grant aid are excluded. Aid awarded anytime during the full aid year is included.

Average net price is generated by subtracting the average amount of federal, state or local government, or institutional grant and scholarship aid from the total cost of attendance. Total cost of attendance is the sum of published tuition and required fees (lower of in-district or in-state), books and supplies and the weighted average room and board and other expenses.

In-State Tuition In-state tuition is the tuition charged by institutions to those students who meet the state's or institution's residency requirements. In-district tuition is the tuition charged by the institution to those students residing in the locality in which they attend school and may be a lower rate than in-state tuition if offered by the institution.

Out-of-State Tuition Out-of-state tuition is the tuition charged by institutions to those students who do not meet the state's or institution's residency requirements. Additional Costs
Room and Board The weighted average for room and board and other expenses is generated as follows:
  • (amount for on-campus room, board and other expenses * # of students living on-campus.
  • + amount for off-campus (with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus with family
  • + amount for off-campus (not with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus not with family)
divided by the total # of students. Students whose living arrangements are unknown are excluded from the calculation. For some institutions the # of students by living arrangement will be known, but dollar amounts will not be known. In this case the # of students with no corresponding dollar amount will be excluded from the denominator.

What Students Are Saying

Pomona College has been given the title of #1 Best Value liberal arts college for the past two years in a row. I can personally attest to this as A) the education here is top rate and B) both myself and most of the other students I have spoken to have been incredibly pleased (and surprised) by Pomona’s generous financial aid packages. Compared to many other colleges of similar caliber, Pomona offers incredible financial aid, allowing students, like me, to attend such a prestigious college.
pomona college is the cheapest among the top liberal arts colleges, and is ranked #1 college in the u.s. regarding funding for each individual student. there are retreats happening almost every weekend for different majors, mentor groups, board of trustees, etc. in amazing parts of southern california. this school has money!
Daniel from Honolulu, HI
pretty expensive but the school is usually pretty good with financial aid, in my case it was okay. worth the money but look for scholarships if you need them.
Liv from out of state
Awesome financial aid, meets 100% of demonstrated financial need with grants instead of loans.
Trix from WA
Well, I already said above what makes Pomona so amazing. To me, that is worth almost any amount of money. I am paying full price so I cannot speak for the financial aid opportunities but I believe that Pomona is very good about accomodating everyone's financial situation.

Worth every penny (except the meal plan, as a vegan). The educational environment is everything I wanted and expected it to be.
Yasmin from Bellevue, WA
Pomona has a large number of resources available to students. The large endowment of the school allows it to put a lot of money towards its students.
