Categories Comments Great for these types of students I recommend it for anyone looking for a higher education.
Tips for prospective students The school does have scholarships; look them up, then apply.
Bang for the buck It's a lot cheaper than a four year school, but the same quality education. It's not about where you go to school; it's about what you choose to do at the school.
Am enjoying being here Overall, I am very happy with the people I met here. Join clubs; it's a fun way to meet potentially new friends while getting involved on campus.
Am learning a lot In all my classes so far, the professors really care. If you do you're work and show that them that you are there to learn, they're are their to help you. They are strict, but very fair and reasonable. Not only will the professors help, the college has resources outside of class to get you any additional help you might need. For example, there is a math lab, writing lab, and tutoring center.

What to do for fun Everything happens around the cafeteria the Rennie Forum. Ask club officers about events coming up they always got something wipped up.

Academic Rigor The academics is managable. Most of the professors are straight forward about what they expect from you out of the class. All you need to do is study what is being coverd in class.
Tips for prospective students One of the beautiful things about the PG Community College is the people you meet coming from different walks of life. Tips for prospective students Do your best, stay on top of you're work. Ask for advice when needed, don't be afraid to ask questions because they will ready help you in the class. Believe me, I wouldn't be here just saying this just to be saying it. The questions you ask will open more doors to you and the future that a holds to you.
Bang for the buck I would highly recommend PGCC, it's very useful, for the first year of college might I add, instead of wasting loads of money somewhere you know you wouldn't succeed.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Get to know your professor in the first week, if not on the first day. It will definitely make your semester more worthwhile. Also, get involved in the community campus because there are a ton of activities and clubs out there for everyone.
Bang for the buck I know that my education isn't getting cheated because most, if not all of my professors teach at surrounding colleges with the SAME material. We just get it for a cheaper price and a one-on-one relationship.
Am enjoying being here I love that my class sizes are small, so therefore I can actually connect and get to know my professor (unlike a lot of my friends who go to universities where they are simply a number, and only talk to the teacher's assistant). The school also offers a lot of useful resources such as a tutoring center, math center, center of advanced technologies building, and a soon to be health education building.
Am learning a lot I have been attending PGCC for the past few years, and I have truly enjoyed my experience. I take regular and honors courses and sometimes (depending on the professor) the regular course are sometimes more involved.

Categories Comments Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is an annual Seniors Prom that is held on campus where literal seniors come dance, eat, and enjoy themselves. There is also a spot on campus where some student art work is displayed and it must be quiet. It has a few benches and screens that display certain surprising statistics.
Bang for the buck There is a variety of tutoring centers for students who may need extra help in classes. Because there are some teachers with accents, I would encourage prospective students to try their best to research their professors online. Some people's accents are harder to understand than others.
What to do for fun For fun, students hang out in the enormous amount of lounges located on campus, laugh, joke, participate in social events, community projects, etc. There are sports teams and a track at the Largo campus. There are also many different clubs and organizations that students are urged to join.
Food and Dining Cafeteria food at Prince George's Community College is awesome! They have a special catering service that cooks many different common foods. They serve breakfast, lunch, and sometimes dinner foods. I remember the cafeteria fixed Thanksgiving Dinner for the Thanksgiving holiday, and students were able to eat at decorated tables secluded from a particularly noisy environment as if they were on dates etc. It was very nice.
Dorm Life I have never lived in a dorm. However, I have lived with (family members/close people to me) who were taking classes or enrolled at the same college as me. One thing that I can say about the experience is that their is a great amount of support in peers and a great amount of empathy that is usually shared. Another aspect of living with/near others that around the same age group is learning to adapt to the diversity of personalities and learning of the abundance of previously unknown similarities that are very fun to discover.
Academic Rigor The focal point of Prince George's Community College is to get students to Envision Success. When you have a set goal and the goal is truly important to your heart, then you will do what it takes to achieve that goal. Your motivation should be God, yourself, and the desire to succeed in life, make a difference in the world, and help others.
Tips for prospective students Prospective students should try their best to focus on their studies and plan to sit in the front of their classes. Prospective students should research their professors online because some may find that certain professors teaching methods may cater to certain learning styles. Prospective students should try their best to maintain a high GPA because they can potentially be awarded money for doing well in school. Prospective students should strive to do all of their homework assignments and submit them on time. They should always make copies of assignments that are to be turned in as well. It is always a great idea to save emails that are sent from professors and to learn to periodically press save while typing papers.
In three sentences Prince George's Community College is a predominantly urban college and is quite diverse. Prince George's Community College is a great school for someone who is just starting college. Prince George's Community College has some extremely knowledgeable professors that know how to teach very well.

Clubs and Activities There are plenty of them and you can find one that will suit you. Plus they look good on the resume!
Great for these types of students For every type. I am a single mother trying to get it together. Im 30. I've seen in the last graduation a 80 yr old getting his associates. Teens too. I mean everyone!
Bang for the buck Knowing how much it cost for my sister to go to school I feel like I'm getting a higher education for free. Plus with the grants and scholarships, you may never have to pay for anything.
What to do for fun There are clubs and organizations for every aspect of life at our school. There is rooms that you can even let loose and play on the 360 or Wii or PS3. We have sports teams and some are very good too. Soccer and Basketball teams are popular and those guys are good.
Food and Dining Cafeteria is kinda high but the breakfast is delicious
Dorm Life We don't have dorms
Academic Rigor I find that the path to nursing is tough but when you get close to being successful it can be challenging. Do not ever hesitate to ask for help. The resources the college provides is amazing and very very helpful.
Tips for prospective students Speak with the Dean and Chairperson of the department in which degree you seek. It will help tremendously and its good to know these people because they can help mentor you to success. They want to and will be your advocates.
In three sentences I like the colleges variety in programs available and the acceptability of universities accepting the credits accrued here. There are a lot of scholarship opportunities for any kind of student. I really have enjoyed my college career towards nursing degree.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck the education is worth the tuitoin. For a full time student. if you going to be taking 12 credit coures, its about 1600. I rather pay $1600 than pay over $20,000 for a course.
Food and Dining Food is not bad except a bit pricey. They have a cafeteria and a cafe on campus that way you can get a bite to eat between class changes.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Police are throughout the campus for safety. Additionally, a texting service known as Owl-Alert alerts students about on campus safety, about emergencies and about school closings.
Clubs and Activities Prince Georges Community College offers a wide variety of clubs and activities. From basketball, to soccer, to swimming and fitness clubs, anyone with an interest in extracurricular activities will find others with whom to share their interest.
Great for these types of students This school is great for students who are serious about achieving their dreams and getting a higher education. It is great for foreigners as well as for Americans. It is a great place for the rich as well as the less fortunate. If you seek diversity, affordability, mental stimulus, and a solid educational background, do not miss your chance to attend!
Bang for the buck This school is a wonderful place for anyone who is serious about getting a higher education and pursuing their dreams while not having a fortune to spend on tuition. Do not hesitate to enroll and attend this institution. Any student will realize that this school surpasses all expectations!
What to do for fun Walking to the mall, skateboarding on campus, joining the drama department, spending time in the high-tech building.
Food and Dining While the school's cafeteria offers a variety of affordable delicacies, there is a shopping mall within a ten minute walking distance. Therefore, students who prefer to dine at restaurants such as Pizza Hut, Chinese Restaurants and Subway, have these and other selective restaurants available to them.
Dorm Life There is no dorm.
Academic Rigor Unlike some may think, Prince George's Community College offers outstanding and rigorous coursework which prepares students for a transfer to a higher facility. The professors are outstanding individuals who thoroughly believe that all people are entitled to a sound education if they desire it. One of the best things about this community college is that all of the classes are taught by professionally trained educators instead of being taught by students.
Tips for prospective students Apply for scholarships early! Prince George's Community College offers a myriad of school based scholarships and grants. Take advantage of the affordable tuition, small class sizes, high-tech facilities, and one on one time with professors! While community colleges might not be appealing to some because of the lack of an on-campus dorm, they offer fantastic educational possibilities and guarantee a seamless transfer to a four-year university.
In three sentences Prince George's Community College is WONDERFUL; it offers its students an affordable tuition, small class sizes, free tutoring and printing services, online classes as well as on campus classes, and is overall an exceptional school. The school has 3 campuses located throughout Maryland and has become technologically advanced and architecturally eye-catching. Diversity is seen throughout the school's population so that no one is singled out.

Categories Comments Food and Dining The food is tolerable, but it is not healthy. It is better than secondary school food and lower grade levels, but don't be dependent on it. Prefer to play it safe and pack a healthy lunch or go somewhere healthy to eat if you catch a break.
Dorm Life This is a commuter school, so there are no dorms. Community colleges like PG typically are commuter schools anyway.
Academic Rigor The academics are good. PG contains many hands-on, dedicated teachers, and difficult courses. Most of these courses can transfer to another college/university, check with an advisor or teacher to make extra sure.
Tips for prospective students Prospective students should be prepared for the varied waiting hours in the advising office, they should also ask their teachers and staff questions to be alert and to be in tune with the school. Also know several activities going on around the college so that you can get extra assistance with topics such as transferring, colleges and such.
In three sentences Prince George's Community College is a good school. Most new college students start here other than Montgomery. The low tuition cost and academic classes are worth it.

Bang for the buck I definitely saved a lot of money within a course of 2 years... Definitely!..
What to do for fun Well this year, they have added way more clubs so you can join those in your spare time. If not you can play a sport like basketball, soccer, track cross country and more.
Food and Dining Well there are two places you can grub and that would be the Cyber Cafe and the regular Cafeteria. The food is great. If you are really into cold cold lunches or really just can't make it on time to your class, but you are really hungry and this is the closest building to you, the Cyber Cafe is where it is at!
Dorm Life There really isn't any dorm life because it is a Community College.
Academic Rigor Academic counselors really want you to succeed but you have to show that you are trying. They will provide you with information for resources and tools to do well in your classes. It is not hard to want to do good here if you really pay attention to what you came to achieve.
Tips for prospective students If you are thinking of coming here because you are not ready to go to a University or you just want to start out small, Prince George's Community College is your best bet. Categories Comments What to do for fun The main campus and the extension centers are both very close to nearby malls and shopping centers. It's a big city and there's always something to do. The main campus in Largo throws events quite often.
Food and Dining I don't eat on campus because I go to an extension center, but I'm sure its pretty good.
Dorm Life This community college doesn't have dorms.
Tips for prospective students My tips for prospective students would be to always to class early. When you arrive early, you're on time, when you arrive on time, your late. Another tip would be to stay on top of all of your work and try to do everything ahead of time. Your syllabus should be your best friend, it'll be a lot less stressful in the long run.
In three sentences I absolutely love college. PGCC is a great start for anyone who wishes to continue their education. It's a lot different than I expected, but I enjoy it nevertheless.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus police is seen all over campus even through the end of the evening classes. They answer the campus police phone very quickly. They respond quickly to emergencies and are also seen heavily paroling the parking lot.
Greek Life Greek Life is non existent at Prince George's Community College.
Clubs and Activities Emails will be sent to your student email account weekly about on campus events. Some events are better than others, but most of them are fun, organized events! If you don't like any of the clubs, start one! The process is not hard and they encourage you to do so!
Great for these types of students Students who may not be able to afford schooling at a 4-year institution just yet. If you are from the PG County area or have attended PG public schools, majority of the students who you will see are from similar situations. Students are very diverse coming from all over the world. If you are interested in meeting new people or learning about other cultures, the International Center is the place to be.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus On the third floor CAT building, there is a Cyber Cafe where students can access the high speed WiFi and be in a relaxed environment if the cafeteria gets too packed. In the Math Learning Center, if you are cool with the Coordinator (help him tutor sometimes when it's busy), there are private rooms in the back for you to study with a group of your classmates. There are nice computers in Chesapeake Hall, but you would have to ask faculty to open up the computer lab for you.
Bang for the buck Classes are reasonably priced compared to other 4-year institutions where most credits transfer to seamlessly.
What to do for fun Get involved with campus organizations. There is a club for almost every type of student. There is also a track and natatorium for anyone who wants to do physical activity. By the track there is a soccer/football field, baseball diamonds, as well as outdoor racketball and tennis courts. Inside the natatorium, you can find a pool, gym, and a few racketball courts.
Food and Dining The cafeteria is a good place to go if you want to have something warm to eat in a hurry. The food is overpriced though. They offer nice home made style dishes. If you have a car, there are other restaurants to go to close by: McDonalds, Taco Bell, Cluck-U-Chicken, Subway, Starbucks, chinese restaurants. Vending machines can be found all over campus and are stocked every day.
Dorm Life There is no dorm life at PGCC. By attending this school, you will have to commute. The Largo and UTC campuses are easily accessible by metro. If you want to get a good parking spot, come to campus no later than 07:50am if you have an 8am class. If you are looking for a place to study, the CAT building and library are good places. During midterms or finals, you may have a hard time finding a spot. WiFi is available all over campus, however, it works best in those two places.
Academic Rigor Academic rigor depends on your major and teacher and semester. Summer/Winter sessions are typically easier than Fall/Spring ones. Some teachers are more better at teaching than others, but overall, mostly all teachers are qualified in the course they're teaching. Nursing majors are rarely ever seen on campus because they're always in class or studying.
Tips for prospective students Speak to advisors (academic, financial aid) way before the start of the semester to avoid long waits and stressed out advisors. Have an idea of what you plan to major in, however, if you don't know during the start of the semester, sticking to the General Education curriculum they have will benefit you until you do decide.
In three sentences Prince George's Community College is an excellent institution to get your general education credits from before transferring to a 4-year institution school. There are also good programs for students who are interested in vocational or trade school purposes. The student population ranges from concurrent high school students to older students who were last in school 10+ years ago.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck $100 a credit course for in county residents. Any left over money from loans you received will go on a card you can use for anything you want.
What to do for fun There aren't that many clubs but you could still join the honor society or others. Hang out with friends. The clubs host events on campus that are open to the entire student body.
Food and Dining I hate the cafeteria food, but it does have a nice selection including the grill, sandwiches, and daily special. There's a cafe in the CAT building that serves light snacks. Vending machines are everywhere. Unfortunately, the school is located far from any fast food establishments, there is a Subway and Target within 15 minutes of the campus.
Dorm Life It's a community college, so no dorms.
Academic Rigor It really all depends on how many classes you take and what those classes are. I am a full time student and I always have homework. The teachers are always there to help you.
Tips for prospective students Apply early. Ask about scholarship and grant opportunities. They have several for Maryland residents, PG county residents, and Veterans.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are numerous securities spread out in the campus. I feel safe. I actually never dread about my safety, such as someone coming to shoot a school or something out of the ordinary.
Greek Life > college Enrichment day >International day > Donating clothes, shoes to less fortunate > Encouragement for volunterring
Clubs and Activities There are several clubs such as MSA; Muslim Students Association, Soccer, Basketball, Poetry club, and other exciting events such as having President Obama come to our school and speaking about a case.
Great for these types of students The poetry Club is great for Students who love writing, literature, reading, and Art. This club is run by a previous Professor. She is well educated. While in her class, I learned a lot about Literature, authors and poets such as Voltaire, Sylvia Plath. Taking her class made me look at the way people express themselves to be more intricate rather than just words. There are ways I analyze things.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a place called Hollow Tree underneath the cafeteria. Most Artistic, odd, outcast, individuals hang out. When I say outcast, I don't mean it in a bad way, but its indifferent how college kids would still play Pokemon and skip and dance, and things of that nature. When I think of College I see people continuously studying and having educated conversation. But I've learned all people are different. We all must find where we belong. At first glance, I thought Hollow tree was unusual.
Bang for the buck I must say some Professors are really good. I had a wonderful History Professor who was knowledgeable about what she was teaching. She never used the book not once. She had a great sense of Humor and she really enhance my effort in learning about History. I also had an outstanding Literature Professor. I learned more about Voltaire. My Professor taught me to question everything and anything.
What to do for fun There are several clubs such as MSA-Muslim Students Association, Basketball and Soccer team, Plays, things of this nature. The plays are surprisingly outstanding. Basically, the campus is quite Entertaining and lively.
Food and Dining The food is quite expensive for the quality. There is not much variety. Breakfast food is horrible, but lunch is much better with a variety of pizza, chicken, french fries etc. I must say I love PGCC french fries, and seasoned potatoes, it's delicious. I also don't understand why we have to pay for cups.
Dorm Life No Campus
Academic Rigor The difficulty would be with the online Math Module. Math is my weakness, therefore I am not in favor of a math module. Although PGCC provide tutors, I'm still not enthused in strategic way the professors want the students to comprehend Math.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you take care of financial aid before the semester starts. Most Students tend to wait last minute to process their FAFSA, and have problems such as lost application. Most time you would need a down payment or set up a college plan If your FAFSA isn't processed yet. Sometimes you cannot provide a down payment so this means you've missed the deadline, and cannot attend for the semester, nor register for late classes. Also, know who you hang out with, there are a few distractions such as foolish activities, and people. Study what you love and passionate about, then you would do well. do not let an advisor help you with your major, you will change it more than five times, there is nothing wrong with being interested in multiple things, but it's better to choose for yourself.
In three sentences I like PGCC because the professors, and standard has proved itself. When I was in High School I heard awful things about the College, by experience I think it's a good college to start with If you go there for the right reasons. There are numerous ways to get help when need such as the writing and tutoring section, and also tutors being present in some class when need. PGCC help you find what you love doing rather than starting a University with all the rigor expectations.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I do not feel safe their at all. Especially at night. I avoid going there at night, and I do not attend any night classes, due to the fact that I am afraid that I will be robbed, or attacked. A bad neighborhood to be in at dark.
Clubs and Activities They all keep to themselves, and are not too keen on taking in outsiders.
Great for these types of students Hispanic. African-American.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I will not, since I do not attend to any of their, already, odd groups that they have there. I simply, go to class and leave as soon as I can, not staying there any longer than I have to.
Bang for the buck I should say not, I can barely afford the classes and books, on my OWN DIME.
What to do for fun Absolutely, nothing.
Food and Dining Extremely overpriced, and outdated/expired. Not a place that one should expect some hospitality.
