Great for these types of students

People who don't want to walk twenty minutes for class - QU is for you. The campus is the perfect size - it'll take you 15 min to cross from one end to the other, even though it's rare to have to actually make that walk. We're a small school, 6,000 students right now, so you will consistently see people you know which is preferable for students who like knowing a lot of people. Also, our nursing program is one of the best.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you fill out your FASFA, and check out all the prospective scholarship and loan opportunities! Go into school with an open mind, and try to befriend your roommates from the start- no one wants to live with someone they do not get along with. Manage your Qcard money well in the cafe - many freshman boys ran out of money too quickly. Bring a fan or two for your room, it can get pretty hot during the summer months.

    Bang for the buck

Quinnipiac has the potential to drain your bank account. The school has a very pricey tuition, one that can daunt even the wealthiest parents. We pay almost as much as many of the private ivy league schools - and it's completely worth it!! Nearly everyone at school will agree, they'd agree to have a ton of student loan debt once they graduate then ever transfer out. It's an amazing school, one that's worth every penny.

    Am enjoying being here

Everyone will tell you how amazing college is, and I never believed the hype. You hope for it, but rarely expect anything to be just THAT good. Quinnipiac exceeded my every hope. The school's reputation is a bunch of wealthy, preppy teens running around, however you'd be surprised at how many students who attend QU are genuinely friendly, helpful, and fun people. From move-in to summer you will constantly be meeting new people who truly enhance your time at college.

    Am learning a lot

The professors at Quinnipiac University are extremely helpful. Sure, you'll find an exception to that rule, but I have found that the majority of teachers excel at aiding their students in their education, and personal growth. I dare say that in my freshman year at QU I learned more than I did through four years in high school. The classes are well directed and thorough.

Great for these types of students

This school is great for Health Science majors. Almost 30% of the students who graduate here are Health Science majors. The School of Business is also pretty good. QU has great Physical Therapy, Nursing, and Athletic Training/Sports Medicine programs.

    Tips for prospective students

Your college experience is what YOU want it to be, so get involved, do things outside of your norm, and discover the type of person you really are. I feel like Quinnipiac University can offer an unforgettable college experience.

    Bang for the buck

It is VERY expensive to go here, but in my opinion it is worth the debt because I'm having the time of my life! The only bad thing is that the food in the Cafe and the Bobcat Den is way over priced and your meal plan will go quickly, so you have to ration it and sometimes mooch off of others with more on their meal plan :P

    Am enjoying being here

Being on campus is a blast and there is so much to do. Hike Sleeping Giant, hang out in the quad, go shopping in New Haven and Hamden, and of course the clubs on Thursdays and the weekends are a lot of fun. The rec center is pretty nice and intramural sports are a great way to get involved. There are a ton of clubs and organizations to get involved with. I transferred to QU in the spring semester and i had no problem making friends and getting involved. Everyone I've encountered has been extremely nice and genuine. The people here is what really makes this school so enjoyable.

    Am learning a lot

All of my classes so far have challenged me. The professors are knowledgeable and more than willing to help you outside of class. I used to not like going to classes when i was in high school and before i transferred to QU, but now i look forward to it everyday.

Great for these types of students

Quinnipiac University is a great school for those who want to be challenged. It is great for those who want a fun, social college experience, but also for those who want the chance to take rigorous classes that will prepare them for their majors and, more importantly, for their later careers.

    Tips for prospective students

If you are considering Quinnipiac University first consider the location. It is close enough to a city, New Haven, while being located in its own scenic sect of Hamden. Consider also the professors and classes; the professors care about their students learning, and the classes are interesting enough to keep you intrigued in the class. Also, the school does offer great scholarships. Quinnipiac offers many different academic scholarships. Also Quinnipiac accepts scholarships from many outside sources making it easy for students to find money for school. My biggest tip to prospective students is to apply for scholarships because they make it much easier to pay for the school.

    Bang for the buck

Although Quinnipiac University is seen as very expensive, attending here is worth every penny! The quality of the classes at Quinnipiac and the opportunities provided by the school are worth the entirety of the tuition. The classes are rigorous enough to provide substantial education. Also the scholarship, internship, and career opportunities aided by the school are all worth the money spent for attending.

    Am enjoying being here

Quinnipiac University provides the perfect college atmosphere. From a social aspect, all the dorms are close enough together to walk to. The farthest walk from dorm to dorm at most is about 10 minutes on campus. The newer dorms at York Hill called New Village have shuttles that run to and from the main campus. Therefore every student on campus has means of easy transportation all over campus and even to the extended campus. In addition, Quinnipiac provides a great shuttle service that brings students to and from Hamden and New Haven, nearby cities. In Hamden there are many clothing stores and food markets that make it easier for students living far away from home. In new haven there are the same commodities as in Hamden however there are also more clubs and restaurants, as well as a movie theater, all for entertainment. The students have great access to entertainment and social time with their peers. From a more academic aspect the school has an incredible library that provides sufficient means for the students to study and excel in their subjects. It is quiet and peaceful with amply amounts of resources and therefore the perfect place for students to get work done.

    Am learning a lot

While at Quinnipiac University the students realize that the professors are passionate about what they are teaching. While exuding their passion of the subject they are teaching, the professors make it easier for the students to learn the material, as well as facilitate the learning process. Quinnipiac aims to help students learn subject matter, but also to aid them in their own discovery of themselves as an individual. In doing so, Quinnipiac has a structured enough curriculum to keep the students focused within their majors, but also lenient enough to allow the students to identify their own beliefs and principles.

Great for these types of students

We have some of the best health sciences in addition to fantastic communications, business, and liberal arts studies. The clinical locations in the surrounding area consistently choose QU students first over any other students. QU is perfect for students who went to a smaller high school and still want that close knit feeling with the academic opportunities and equipment that a large school would offer. Or if you came from a large school and want something smaller.

    Tips for prospective students

I recommend applying early so you can get the best financial aid award, though this goes for most any school. Make the most of the involvement fair they put on in the first week because you get to see every organization we have and are given the opportunity to get more info or sign up. Have at least some Q-cash in your account for the most part because you never know when you will need to print or do laundry or grab a snack from the vending machine. Definitely track your meal plan money because you don't want to be stuck with no money before the semester ends. (There are handy signs to help in the cafeteria!) Most of all, no matter what college you pick, make sure you go there and really picture yourself there. If you aren't just dying to call that place your home (because face it you are at college more than your old home) for the next four years, it might not be the place for you. My freshman year I only came home for 3 breaks when I had to, otherwise I never wanted to leave. Its summer right now and all I see on facebook is how everyone (including myself) wants to go back to QU!!

    Bang for the buck

Yes, Quinnipiac is on the expensive side but I think it will be one the most worthwhile expenses I will ever make. You may hear that QU is a bunch of rich, preppy students but honestly if you walk around campus you will see that there are some, yes, but a lot of the students very friendly and welcoming and give this campus a great community feel. I come from a small school in NH and we aren't the wealthiest family and yet I get the opportunity of a big school with the same close knit feeling that I had in high school.

    Am enjoying being here

I am absolutely having the time of my life here at Quinnipiac. You don't have to get involved in a million things in order to enjoy it here, but you will find that it is hard not to stay away from all of the activities that QU has to offer. From Greek life, to intramurals, choir and acapella groups, theater, student government, sports, radio/tv station, snow club, the student programming board and so many more you have to find at least one club or activity you like. Plus there is always some kind of activity of the opportunity to go into Hamden or New Haven on a shuttle if you have nothing to do. I wouldn't trade my experience here at QU for the world and I am going to hate leaving.

    Am learning a lot

Classes at Quinnipiac are unlike any I have ever seen. The professors are excited about what they teach, they are actively seeking out the newest information in their field, and they are readily available for anything you need and know you by a name and a face not a number. I have honestly learned more in my freshman year here than my four years in high school. Not only do I learn a lot in the classroom, but just the atmosphere of the students here will tell you that you can learn a lot outside the classroom as well. Students here want to know more and many push themselves to go above and beyond the call of their academic courses.

Great for these types of students

Anyone really! If you're looking for a smaller school but not too small this is it! If you're looking to be challenged, you will be! It's a beautiful campus, there is a night club life, there are many activities to get involved with on campus, it's division 1 for any sports players, and the school is really expanding so there is more diversity!

    Tips for prospective students

If you are planning on coming here that is great! You will know when you visit if this school is for you! It is a smaller school which is good for shyer people because you will feel more comfortable seeing more familiar faces while walking down dorm road. Just be yourself and try and get to know everyone in the hallway of your dorm the first week because after a week or more it's going to seem even more awkward to introduce yourself.

    Bang for the buck

It's pretty pricey here but for the most part it really is worth it. Somethings could be enhanced such as the options for food but that shouldn't make up your mind about a school anyways. I really love it here, I feel so at home. I have made so many close friends and I learn so much everyday! You will really have a great experience here and the price will be worth it when you graduate with a great degree from a highly accredited school such as this one.

    Am enjoying being here

I love QU! At first it's really difficult to adjust and find where you fit in but if you get involved with events and groups on campus you will meet so many people and feel very welcome after sometime. After talking to some freshman this year (my sophomore year) I find that they feel just like I did when I first came- scared and as though they didn't belong. But it really does change, I've found my place here and yes it took some searching but it's going to be that way at any school and now I feel at home!

    Am learning a lot

Honestly you really do learn so much here! The education QU provides is really excellent. I am a Health Science major and I can really say that I know so much more than I did before coming here. The teachers go into greater depth with details than teachers in high school do (and I went to a really good high school).

Great for these types of students

Students that want the small school feel but with a lot to do.There are just over 5,000 undergrad students so you get familiar with most people, but I feel like I meet new people every day. I love that I can walk my campus in about15 minutes but yet there are always new faces as well as the familiar ones.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't get deterred by the fact that it seems to be mostly uppermiddle class, white, suburbia girls. Not everyone is like that. Some girls can be, but the majority are amazing people.

    Bang for the buck

On the expensive side, over $45,000 for the year. It puts a dent in most people's bank accounts but I believe it is worth every penny.

    Am enjoying being here

The opportunities are numerous.Every weekends there are events on campus for students that feel like laying low and doing things on campus. Getting a group of friends together we usually go to the events, such as movie nights, late night breakfasts or 90s throwback nights.

    Am learning a lot

All the professors I have encountered are determined to help students. They make office hours known and if you need help outside of those hours, most are understanding if you email or talk to them. Health science majors are a lot of work, but it is worth it. I learned more first semester than I ever imagined I could.

Great for these types of students

Prospective students looking for a smaller-sized school to give a more personal learning experience. The student population is relatively homogeneous, upper-middle class students from the tri-state area. Faculty, staff, and students are very friendly and do welcome diversity.

    Tips for prospective students

College is expensive, no matter where you go, so take advantage of any and all scholarship options the school and other organizations have to offer. There are great opportunities at Quinnipiac, socially and academically, for students looking to get a lot out of their college career.

    Bang for the buck

Tuition is fairly expensive, but there are great benefits for students because of it. Quinnipiac offers a free shuttle service running from all campus locations into New Haven, a city close by with a great night life, and into the towns of Hamden and North Haven for all your shopping and dining needs. The school also puts on weekly programming events, most of which are free. This includes events with comedians, movies, food, and novelties. There is also housing available from freshman year to senior year, which is rare at many other schools. We have a state-of-the-art athletic facility, and all ice-hockey and basketball games are free to students.

    Am enjoying being here

There is no denying the campus is beautiful, which is a great benefit when you wake up early and look out your window to a view of Sleeping Giant, the mountain located across from campus. If you take advantage of all the activities, organizations, and what the surrounding area of New England has to offer, you can't help but not love it here.

    Am learning a lot

Class sizes are relatively small, which creates a great environment to develop relationships with professors. They get to know students personally, and will do the best they can to help you succeed. Professors also bring experience and knowledge from their fields into the classroom, which makes for a great learning environment.

    Campus Safety

Very good. Actually too good. Campus over steps there authority a lot. Its a private campus so they can do what they want.

    Greek Life

Greek life is building quite fast at Quinnipiac. There are like 5 fraternities and 7 sororities (good for the guys). But there is a new one like every year.

    Clubs and Activities

There a lot of organizations on campus to find your niche to fit in and have a good time.

Great for these types of students

White kids with a lot of money lol. There's a lack of a minority here, which is good though if you are one, like me, cause then you get a lot more for financial aide. A lot of guidos though.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

May weekend, two weekends before finals everyone likes to party hard for a final time. The school actually use to sponsor it. Now the school does everything in their power to prevent it though, but they can't do much against off campus housing.

    Bang for the buck

Quinnipiac is a very good school that offers a good education. However, the school is extremely overpriced at like over 50,000. Luckily for me I have a scholarship and receive financial aide, but it really still is not enough.

    What to do for fun

Everybody likes to go to the clubs in New Haven, one in particular called Toads. Not for me to be honest. Once you're 21 there a lot of bars in town such as Aunchies as well. But for underclassmen you can get away with partying on campus a little.

    Food and Dining

Pretty bad to be honest. You have to manage a budget that is designed to not last the semester because of the price Chartwells sells the food. Its really a scam unfortunately.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is pretty decent up to sophomore year. By Junior year they move you to another campus called York Hill and almost no classes take place there so you'll have to commute to Mount Carmel. The rooms themselves are a good size, but QU security is pretty rough sometimes.

    Academic Rigor

That always, regardless of the school, depends on the major that you are deciding to pursue. If I had to say though, from a Health Science perspective, the curriculum can be quite challenging at times. The difficulty of the class itself always is framed around the professor.

    Tips for prospective students

Through all the smug of the class of students that think they are better than everyone, a social life does exist. It can be found in different organizations such as Greek life. This school will also give you a good education.

    In three sentences

Quinnipiac is a pretty good school that offers a good education and also has good resources to be used to help you get a job. However, from a social life perspective, it is not diverse (majority white) and a lot of the students tend to come from money and think they are better than everyone.

Great for these types of students

The school has a great health science program that is constantly growing. Communications, business, and liberal arts programs are also on their way up. The school is for anyone the wants a small, well-rounded school. The university has pretty much everything you need right on campus, but if you need to get something off campus, the school has a shuttle system to take you downtown. The campus is small and there are only about 5,000- 6,000 undergrad students so it makes for a small tight knit community where you get to know a lot of people because you see them more often then you might at a bigger school. Quinnipiac University is for anyone that wants to get the most out of their college experience.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't judge a school before you even check it out. I did that and almost didn't even bother checking out Quinnipiac, but at the last second I changed my mind and haven't regretted it since. I knew from the minute I stepped on the campus that this is where I was meant to be and could see myself for the next 4 years. So when I comes down to it, give ever college a chances because you have nothing to lose by just checking it out, and who knows, the school might just surprise you.

    Bang for the buck

Though it is quite expensive, the people you meet, the education you get, and the things you learn with all make up for it. The price is nothing compared to the experiences you will have there.

    Am enjoying being here

The University has a variety of opportunity to get involved with the school and meet new people. From a variety of D-1 varsity sports to rec leagues and clubs, you can always find something you are interested in. The Sleeping Giant is located right next to the school so occasional hiking trips are always a blast!

    Am learning a lot

The teachers are fantastic and love to teach. They push you to be the best that you can and to make sure that you are prepared for the real world and life after college. The teachers are very helpful and are willing to meet outside of class time to help you go over material and study for upcoming tests or quizzes.

    Tips for prospective students

Stay positive, be hard working, and as much as you feel like you want to give up, dont! It's not a lie when people say that hard work pays off!

    Bang for the buck

While Quinnipiac is a beautiful school with an amazing academic program, it does have the potential to make even the most wealthy of them all broke. But in the end it is completely worth every penny, nickel, and dime, and when you get that awesome career that Quinnipiac has led you to.

    Am enjoying being here

It's a LOVELY campus, very peaceful, and overall beautiful! The environment is great, safe, and tons of fun. You hope for the best and that's what you get at Quinnipiac.

    Am learning a lot

The saying, you get just as much out of it as you put in is very true when it comes to college. It's a lot harder than high school for most, but the education here is excellent and VERY rewarding. If you're willing to put in the long hours and the hard work, college, especially Quinnipiac is the place for you. It is completely worth the time and effort.

Great for these types of students

There are a lot of stereotypes for Quinnipiac students, among them the partiers, the preppy ones, and the rich and snobby kids. While you do run across such students on campus, there is an incredible amount of diversity on campus. Students from all walks of life can come to Quinnipiac and find a circle of friends with similar interests. Quinnipiac is renowned for its Health Science programs, so anyone looking to pursue a career in the medical field should definitely take a closer look. A medical school is in the works as well, so the opportunities are expanding. Also, within the next few years there will be a school of Engineering added to QU’s already extensive repertoire of majors and programs.

    Tips for prospective students

You hear a lot about what you should and should not do in college, but one piece of advice definitely worth any prospective student's attention is to get involved on campus. You're not going to meet new people or have a good time if you sit in your dorm room 24/7. There are so many ways to get involved, especially at Quinnipiac. Take the time to read the fliers posted in the halls, and don't just delete the weekly event updates that are emailed to you. Get involved. You'll meet new people, cultivate existing interests, and maybe even discover new ones. Also, and I can't stress this enough, take advantage of all the opportunities provided you by your professors. Go to office hours. Don't hesitate to email any questions you might have. If he or she offers review sessions, make an effort to attend. It is a great help if you are struggling with the material, and even if you are not struggling it makes your face known to the professor. He or she will take note of the effort you are putting in, and that will become extremely handy when you need faculty recommendations. Finally, just as a side note, make sure rain boots, a rain coat, and/or an umbrella are on your list of things to bring to college. Leave any stigma that came along with wearing rain boots during bad weather in high school. Trust me on this, unless of course you like arriving to class soaking wet and stepping in puddles in your own shoes.

    Bang for the buck

The one drawback to Quinnipiac is that it is quite pricy. However, there is a lot offered here that isn’t at other universities. For example, there are daily shuttles that run into Hamden and New Haven, providing easy access to shopping and entertainment. This is especially convenient for the freshmen and any other student who does not have a car on campus. Chartwell’s, a catering service, provides all food on campus, so it is better quality than the traditional fast food or grab-and-go items that can be found in other school cafeterias. Many surrounding businesses and restaurants provide discounts to Quinnipiac students if you show your Q-card (the school ID, meal plan, room key, etc.). Not only that, but also the quality of education that is provided at Quinnipiac is astounding. The professors are extremely knowledgeable, and you leave the classroom having learned something. You get what you pay for, and you definitely get a lot with Quinnipiac.

    Am enjoying being here

There are so many events that are held on campus and so many ways in which to get involved at Quinnipiac. Some of my best friends have been made right on campus. The size is absolutely perfect as well: large enough to always stumble across an unfamiliar face in the caf, but small enough so it isn’t difficult to spot your lab partner or last year’s roommate while walking on campus. The grounds are absolutely breathtaking, especially in the fall, and there is an overwhelming sense of community. Class sizes rarely exceed 35 students (with obvious exceptions, of course), and your professors take the time to get to know you. It is not uncommon to run into a professor in the caf and have a conversation with him or her while in line to pay for your food. Quinnipiac is truly a home away from home, and I didn’t get that feeling when visiting other universities. The fact that the main campus is not extremely large also makes it quite nice to walk to class, especially in the cold. If, by chance, you are displeased with something on campus or you want a change made, Student Government goes above and beyond the call of duty to make the student body happy, and the administration is very accommodating.

    Am learning a lot

I’m sure that anybody who has been through more than a few years of school has at one point said or thought, “I am never going to use this information in the real world.” I am guilty of that myself. However, I have been pleasantly surprised with my Quinnipiac education. Even though I have been given material for which I see no practical use, I can honestly say that I have taken something away from every single class I’ve taken, even those that have not directly applied to my major. As with any institution there are some less-than-perfect professors, but the majority is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the material they teach. You, as the student, take priority. They professors are there to offer extra help in office hours, they are very receptive to feedback and will modify the way they teach based upon how the class responds, and they make the classroom a fun as well as learning environment. The learning extends beyond the confines of the classroom as well. There are a variety of speakers and events held on campus that foster discussion and thinking outside the box. Even at home, I have been able to apply to my experiences elements of my QU education.

    Campus Safety

The campus is surrounded by security guards. They really care about the students safety needs and wants.

    Greek Life

It is on campus but not a big deal if you are not in Greek Life.

    Clubs and Activities

They have every club you could imagine and if for some reason they don't then if you get enough people who want to be in the same club as you then you can be the founder of your own club.

Great for these types of students

Great for any type of student.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There is Sleeping Giant State Park right across the street from campus and everyone loves to go hiking up on the mountain. The mountain and it's story have a good amount to do with QU.

    Bang for the buck

The tuition is very high. I mean I am getting a top notch education at QU but it is very hard for my parents to send me there especially with all their bills and also having to provide for my younger sister. I am consistently online looking for scholarships, loans, and grants.

    What to do for fun

I hang out with my roommates about 24/7 at school; we do everything together. We like to hang around campus, go out to the clubs, and sometimes we go to the movie theatre. Also we go to the book store, shopping, and get ice cream.

    Food and Dining

The food is good at QU but after a while it gets boring and old because it is always the same thing.

    Dorm Life

I love the dorm life at QU. My freshmen year was amazing living in the dorm. My roommates are my best friends and my hall mates are still all my close friends. I had an amazing RA who would do anything for us girls.

    Academic Rigor

The classes are challenging but if you study hard for each class you will do great. Also attendance is very important try not to skip any class because you always miss a lot of information/notes. The professors are great though and will not let you fail; you have to try and fail at QU.

    Tips for prospective students

Quinnipiac is truly a great school; it offers so many different choices for majors and minors. It has amazing study abroad programs and if they don't have one you are interested in they make it happen for you. Everyone at QU wants you to succeed to your absolute fullest and will give you as much help as you need to achieve any goal(s) you have.

    In three sentences

Quinnipiac has a beautiful campus right across from Sleeping Giant state park; no matter what season it is the campus is stunning. The class sizes are nice and small so it is easier to learn in the classroom. The professors are amazing and try to help you in any way possible.

Great for these types of students

Quinnipiac is great for people who like to have everything easily in there reach. The campus is set up so that everything is just right, and close enough. It's medium size so its not too small but not overwhelmingly huge either.

    Tips for prospective students

When looking at the annual tuition fees for going to a private school like Quinnipiac people usually get discouraged from applying. FAFSA (federal student aid) is helps a lot when applying to any school because its aids in paying tuition, and Quinnipiac is really good at granting aid to each student, considering the price tag of attending.

    Bang for the buck

Quinnipiac is quite expensive but I feel like it is worth the money. They have a lot of great academic programs, various study abroad opportunites, different organizations that students can join, and overall its a great school! I know I have no regrets.

    Am enjoying being here

I transferred to Quinnipiac from a big school that had various campuses scattered over neighboring towns. I didn't like the big school atmosphere and Quinnipiac was just the right change. There is plenty to do at QU, there are local stores, restaurants, and bars and if you want to go out a more busy atmosphere the school has shuttles that go out of town to New Haven where there are clubs, museums, and plenty of more activities to do. I also love that there are so many organizations that students can get involved in, and there is always something to do each day so you can never get bored!

    Am learning a lot

One GREAT thing about Quinnipiac is that there is a sense of community because its not a overly huge campus. Classes usually consist of 20-40 people and its great because it allows students to get more attention from professors and form better relationships

Great for these types of students

Outgoing and Involved. Desire to be challenged.

    Tips for prospective students

Really consider the amount of money you will be spending. Unless a large or reasonable part of your tuition and fees is being covered by grants or scholarships consider other schools. Even to students who think they know what they want to major in, I would consider going to a state school for a year to take prerequisites. Rent an apartment on or close to campus to get the college experience and do really well academically. If you still have your heart set on this school, GO FOR IT. It truly is a gorgeous campus with great people and excellent professors.

    Bang for the buck

This is a very pricey school. I chose to go here while accepting less scholarship/grant financial aid than I was offered at other private Universities and Colleges. The loans became burdensome along with the other unavoidable and often unpredictable costs one incurs going to college. I feel that a comparable education is possible without the high price tag.

    Did enjoy being here

While this University did not end up being an appropriate fit for me personally, I did meet a lot of great people. A large part of the student body participated in University sanctioned events such as Hall Wars and other programming that can be overlooked by the general population at a larger school.

    Did learn a lot

The class sizes were small even as a freshman and I really connected with my professors. Office hours were always available and a professor would always be willing to join a group study session to make sure we were on the right track or to go over any information we were not clear about.

Great for these types of students

Communications, Business, and Health Science students will really like it here. Students who love to go out and have fun will also love it here.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply early. I qualified for the school, but because I applied late, I was wait listed, so apply early so you may get accepted on time. Also, don't be taken in by the appearance of the school. The school is great and has a good reputation, but don't choose it based on the appearance. I recommend that all students who are looking at Quinnipiac to definitely factor the price in, but definitely know that it can be worth it.

    Bang for the buck

The price is quite expensive and a lot of unexpected fees come up, but it is worth it if you are a business, communications, or health sciences major.

    Am enjoying being here

I love it here. I really enjoy the social aspect of Quinnipiac. I encourage all students to get involved in on campus activities.

    Am learning a lot

I feel like I am learning a lot here, but not necessarily in my intended major of communications just yet. I enjoy the small class size and the personal attention from teachers.

    Campus Safety

Campus security does a great job of keeping us safe. I always feel safe on campus.

    Greek Life

Lots of fraternities and sororities; no greek housing.

    Clubs and Activities

Many ways to get involved. Involvement fair at the beginning of the year is a great way to see what's available. Easy for freshmen to become active on campus.

Great for these types of students

Many Physical Therapy or Physician's Assistant majors, great program. Great business school as well. 5 year bachelors/masters program for teaching, which is highly successful.

    Bang for the buck

Expensive private school, but great programs and on the rise (which will make your degree more valuable).

    What to do for fun

Lots of programs every weekend and during the week. Night life in New Haven is popular. Toads is a famous club that is commonly frequented by Quinnipiac students.

    Food and Dining

The food is average. 2 dining facilities on campus.

    Dorm Life

Residence halls are pretty nice. Resident Assistants here are generally very good.

    Academic Rigor

Depends on your program and intended degree. Teachers are very good, and give one on one attention to help you succeed. They are more than willing to meet with students outside of class for extra help. The learning center is also a commonly utilized resource for extra help or tutoring.

    In three sentences

Love it here; beautiful school, small classes with professors who really care. Lots of ways to get involved on campus.

    Greek Life

IT IS HUGE HERE but there are no multicultural frats or sorority.

    Clubs and Activities

There is alot of things here to join but only several actual get acknowledge by the student body.

Great for these types of students

    Party ,Guidos, Well-off suburban kids

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

May Weekend- the last weekend in April all the students get drunk starting in the morning Friday till Sunday night.

    Bang for the buck

You definitely get what you pay for with housing, all the dorms are new and in great condition.

    What to do for fun

PARTY (bar hopping and going into New Haven) and go to all the free events.

    Food and Dining

The food is okay. There are GOOD and BAD days.

    Dorm Life

The campus dorm options are plenty and comfortable. The worst thing that can happen to you is that you get stuck in a quad your freshmen year or stuck in a triple your sophomore year.

    Academic Rigor

The professors here are real life professionals in the field that they are teaching. They challenge you and prepare you for what is to come in your major when you graduate.

    Tips for prospective students

It is not a very diverse campus and don't fall into peer pressure!

    In three sentences

In terms of networking, this school is great place to meet professionals and future professionals and build a great contact list before graduating. The best school is the School of Communications and I think that the worst majors to take on at Quinnipiac are Drama and Interactive Digital Design. The campus is beautiful and by far one of the best and prettiest campus on at least the North East.

    What to do for fun

There are many events on campus, however there are also great things off campus close by as well. The shuttle service works out really well for most.

    Food and Dining

At first you may be unsure of what type of food you would like but their is quite the variety and you will be sure to find something good!

    Dorm Life

The dorm life is one of the best parts, most people find their best friends in the dorm they first live in. Most rooms are spacious and comfortable for your adjustment.

    Academic Rigor

Depends on your major, but many students find themselves in the library quite frequently.

    Tips for prospective students

Be prepared for the college life, living away from home and everything however be open to new possibilities as well.

    In three sentences

Quinnipiac is a great school to attend with a beautiful campus and many smiling faces. The size is perfect for most and many students find themselves quite happy here. Like going to any other college, it is a change but Quinnipiac tries to make it the best one for you.

    Campus Safety

Campus safety is very uptight. They take their job very seriously. They just got new mountain bikes that they hope will deter students from running away from them and will create a more personal relationship between students and security.

    Greek Life

Greek Life is very different at QU than most other colleges. There aren't any Frat or Sorority houses. They have parties sometimes, but they are usually exclusive and just at the house of one of the upper class members.

    Clubs and Activities

There are so many clubs on campus but there aren't that many people involved in them. I think the school could do a better job at getting students involved. And there are always activities going on during the weekend to discourage students from drinking.

Great for these types of students

Business majors, and health and science majors. I'm a film major and often find myself disappointed in the lack of equipment and new technology there.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Right across the street from QU is the Sleeping Giant, a national state park and mountain you can hike. The first weekend in May, which marks the two week celebrations before finals and the end of school, is May Weekend, the biggest party weekend at QU.

    Bang for the buck

It's a very expensive school and it's always asking for more money. Sometimes I wonder where my money is going.

    What to do for fun

Clubbing-that's about it. Everyone goes to Toad's every weekend. Other than that, you're stuck in your dorm or searching for parties.

    Food and Dining

Could be better. There aren't many options and the people who work there are rude. The prices are rather high, too.

    Dorm Life

Exciting. There's always something going on in the dorms, whether it be parties or activities planned by the RAs. Although the dorms are small, there is enough room for your stuff and to have your own space.

    Academic Rigor

A lot of reading and writing, the subject material isn't difficult though.

    Tips for prospective students

Be prepared to depend on the shuttle service your first year since you can't bring a car. Don't forget to bring lots of food and cooking utensils because you'll get sick of the cafeteria food.

    In three sentences

Quinnipiac's campus is beautiful. The students are rich and stuck up. It's very easy to get bored there if you're not 21.

    Campus Safety

Campus safety is amazing. There was never a time where I felt like I was in danger, even when I was spending the night at the library and had to walk back to my dorm at 3 in the morning.

    Clubs and Activities

There are a lot of clubs and activities for all majors and interests. They're a great way to meet new people, make new friends, and everyone is very nice and helpful. I would definitely recommend joining at least one or two clubs.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Whenever the weather gets warmer, the quad is the number one place to relax and have fun. People lay on the grass and bring a book or their laptop to get some work done or a frisbee and some friends to have a fun game.

    What to do for fun

There is so much to do for fun. We have shuttles that take you into Hamden and New Haven so you can watch movies, go shopping, or catch the train from the New Haven train station. If you want to have a night out, shuttles do drop you off near the popular clubs. If you want to spend the day/night on campus, you can always lay out on the quad with a few friends, have a bbq/picnic on the benches, or have a relaxing afternoon near the pond.

    Food and Dining

There is a wide variety of food. However, if you're a vegetarian like me, there isn't a lot of options to choose from. The food is not the healthiest, but there are certain days where sushi is served, fresh-made pizza everyday, a Chinese restaurant. (I also heard that the crispy chicken is absolutely delicious.)

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is great! You're sure to find at least one friend that you can depend on. The students are all very nice, but beware because there is a large girl population so there may be some drama you'll get sucked into. But regardless of that, like I said, you'll have that one person that you can turn to.

    Academic Rigor

How easy your classes are depends on which professors you choose, so make sure you choose the best professor! However, even if you get stuck with a terrible professor, as long as you do all the work and put in the effort to learn what you need, you will get the grades you want and deserve. Also, make sure to go to your professor's office hours if you feel like you don't understand something because that shows that you're putting the effort to do well.

    Tips for prospective students

My most important tip for prospective students is not to fall behind on work. Start off the year by spending at least one to two hours on homework or reading the textbook, especially if you are a science major. Set up a schedule where you get all of your work done while having enough time to hang out with your friends. Time management is my biggest tip- every minute is precious!

    In three sentences

Quinnipiac University is very welcoming and warm. Students are very nice and professors truly care about how well you perform in class. This university has a wonderful network of people on both a social level and a professional level.

    Food and Dining

The food at Quinnipiac is very good with a large variety.

    Dorm Life

The dorm life is a lifetime experience and all of the dorms are brand new.

    Academic Rigor

The academic rigor is not exactly easy and it is challenging. Studying must be done to succeed.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure the high school grades are the best you can do. Also, try to take AP classes and college credit classes so you can get ahead in college.

    What to do for fun

Many clubs and bars around the campus in New Haven. Also, many activities to do on campus that do not need alcoholic drinks to be fun. Sports events are big, especially hockey games. If you feel like there is nothing to do here, then you are wrong. No matter what, a student can find something fun to do on every weekend.

    Food and Dining

A little expensive, but I lucked out in receiving a full meal plan, plus a kitchen in my dorm. The food at the Caf and the Rat are good, especially for not being home-made.

    Dorm Life

All the dorms on the Mount Carmel campus are for Freshman, Sophomores, Transfer Students, and International students. There are many different types of dorms such as: Doubles, Triples, Quads, and Suites. The dorms on the York Hill campus are for Juniors and Seniors. There are always events that are held for each Hall.

    Academic Rigor

All classes are rigorous, but depending on your major some classes may be tougher than others.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply early and do not procrastinate on work. If you find time to complete all your assignments, then there should be no reason a student should fail.

    What to do for fun

The QU campus has a lot to do, from on campus activities, to night life in Hamden. There are things like bingo nights, fairs, auctions, and many more.

    Food and Dining

Food is better than typical college food. Haven't gotten tired of it in my three years here so far. Beautiful dining facilities, that are always clean and being updated.

    Dorm Life

The dorms on campus are breath-taking. Compared to any other dorm I have ever seen, QU has the best. From the size of the rooms, to the kitchens and rugged floors in some buildings, the dorms have it all.

    Academic Rigor

The academic life at Quinnipiac can get intense, but that is what college is all about. Working hard to achieve your goals! Quinnipiac sets its students up for the real world.

    Tips for prospective students

You will not regret applying to this school! People tell me it is the most beautiful campus they have ever encountered. It is well kept, clean, and most of all, a great place to live.

Quinnipiac is a beautiful school that has everything a University should offer. Campus Safety

Minimal and does not seem to have much of a presence, other than at the gates, on campus

    Clubs and Activities

Minimal clubs but plenty of sports to spectate.

Great for these types of students

    Brainiacs!

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

I did not participate in any of these

    Bang for the buck

Quinnipiac is an expensive school but they have a great endowment. As far as I am concerned this is one of the finest regional New England schools around and puts the University of New Haven to shame (a local rival university). It is right down the road from Yale and in comparison to their tuition, Quinnipiac is cheap but fair warning the cost of living on campus verse commuting is absolutely killer. Plus the school had a lot of housing space issues when I attended but that seems to be solved now with the new dorms they built. I think for the money you get a great education but I would spend the extra time looking around at other institutions before committing to Quinnipiac simply because I think there is better selection of schools that have more choices in undergraduate degrees than Quinnipiac. One of the down sides to this school is that its on-line program is limited to a few graduate schools so if you are like me and left school before you graduated, you have no recourse for completing the degree programs unless you physically attend the university. Dont forget that life does get in the way and sometimes you have to leave school so dont cut yourself short without any options to be able to finish your degree.

    What to do for fun

Campus life has evolved since I attended the university. Round Top which sits atop a hill across the street from the main campus is the newest addition to the university. It has five new dorm buildings, student life center and a fabulous basketball and ice hockey arena. Additionally, there are tons of clubs to partake in. Mine was the College Republicans which was in its infancy while I attended.

    Food and Dining

Absolutely fantastic. The dining hall was being completely renovated after I attended the university and it is even better than when I was enrolled at the school. The food is way more tastier than what you would expect to find in a cafeteria setting, like Luby's. Everything is fresh and very well done! Use your Q-Card to keep track of your meals too.

    Dorm Life

I was a commuter student and did not live on campus however at that time, housing on campus was extremely limited. they have since built new dorms but I am unaware if this has solved the housing issue.

    Academic Rigor

Classes were challenging enough but not so bad that you dont have time for other activities. I found that the majority of your English classes will require a paper. A lot of my other courses were not paper intensive, instead relying on testing.

    Tips for prospective students

Be prepared to participate in your classes! Class sizes are small and the professors will demand your participation. This is a fairly laid back campus but it was lacking in parking when I attended. Make good use of the Bernhard Library and dont hesitate to fall back on your professors for help. All of them will find the time to assist you in whatever you need.

    In three sentences

The most beautiful and enchanting campus I have ever seen. Class size is small and the instructors are exceptionally personable. A very technologically advanced institution with a wonderful library - did I mention that class instruction is beyond the pail?

    Bang for the buck

It's a bit expensive, but I think attending Quinnipiac is more than worth it.

    What to do for fun

The events Quinnipiac holds for its students are amazing. Between debates and performers, one day you might wake up to go to a concert, then a hockey game, then a discussion on micro-loans. The events this school holds are extremely diverse and there is always fun stuff to do on the weekend, such as travel to New Haven on the free shuttles, or stay on campus and play Bingo for huge prizes. There's always something going on, so you will never be bored!

    Food and Dining

Each of the three campuses have their own cafeterias. Each has a pretty good selection of food. Whether you're a vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or a carnivore, there's generally always something yummy for you to eat.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are quite nice. Sometimes it can be loud, but there are quiet hours during the week so people can study. There are also study lounges throughout the different dorms, so it's really helpful.

    Academic Rigor

Depending on your major, some classes can extremely difficult, while others can be easy. Most, however, are pretty difficult. Regardless of how difficult a class at Quinnipiac is, you will learn A LOT, as the teachers will challenge and push you to your fullest potential.

    Tips for prospective students

Be sure to visit the campus on a tour day, and if you can, apply to shadow a current student for a day or two. You will learn so much about the campus, its culture, the teachers, and yourself. Carefully watch how the people interact with one another and you will be sold!

I always see the Public Safety people around and I haven't felt unsafe on campus at all.

Great for these types of students

QU is great for all types of students!

    What to do for fun

There is always something going on around campus that is fun to do. The clubs and organizations are always holding events and they are fun to go to and you can meet new friends here as well. You can also take the shuttle to Hamden or New Haven.

    Food and Dining

The food is decent and actually has a pretty good selection. They have places that have differing options throughout the week and there is also The Bobcat Den, which everyone calls the Rat, which has some different selections and is right in the middle of the residence halls.

    Dorm Life

The freshman dorm rooms are a good size and they pretty nice, except for the fact that there is no air conditioning, but everyone brings a fan and it's not that bad. From my experience, everyone really gets to know each other on your floor and in your entire residence hall and you become like a little family community.

    Academic Rigor

The classes are difficult, but once you get the hang of it, it's not that bad but it still challenges you without being overwhelming.

    Tips for prospective students

Come visit! You will feel the sense of community and get to see the beauty of the campus and you will love it.

    In three sentences

Quinnipiac University is a very inclusive and diverse school. Everyone is nice and welcoming and never exclude anyone for any reason. It is also really really pretty and the buildings are very modern.

    Campus Safety

Public safety is everywhere! As long as you are being responsible and safe, nothing is going to happen to you on campus.

    Greek Life

Greek life is a huge thing here. We have so many different sororities and fraternities already and new ones keep coming every year.

    Clubs and Activities

There are so many; I swear I learn about a new one every week (and I'm a Junior)!

Great for these types of students

    All types.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

We call the Bobcat Den, The Rat because it used to be a bar on campus. There are a huge amount of students who also ride the bobcat. We have a couple different bobcat statues around campus and it is tradition that before you leave you climb on top of a statue and sit on it as if you were riding it (like a horse).

    Bang for the buck

The school is very pricey, but you will get a good job with Quinnipiac on your resume.

    What to do for fun

There is always something going on! We have so many great clubs and organizations and they are always planning events to attend (or you could join one and help plan the events). We are also really close to New Haven and only about an hour and a half away from NYC!

    Food and Dining

The food here is pretty basic to what you would expect for college dining. There are many options but some are much better than others. There is a main cafeteria and the Bobcat Den (or as non-freshmen call it, The Rat) on main campus. The Rat is basically a mini-cafeteria set up with a sports bar feel. The upperclassmen's campus also has a dining hall, as does North Haven campus (for upperclassmen health science classes).

    Dorm Life

The dorms here are pretty great (except for Troupe). Many have kitchens right inside your suite or at least a kitchen in your dorm. The rooms are a decent size; while some are smaller than others. Suites are your best option because you will have more privacy and room. A suite will give you a common room (which acts as a living room and a kitchen [not all suites have kitchens]). Also, do not be intimidated if you end up in a triple: triples in New Village are huge! Just because you will be living in the same direct room with two other people does not mean you will not have your own space. You have to realize that you will all have different schedules and will not see each other all the time.

    Academic Rigor

Classes are easy anywhere you go if you commit to studying and attending class. While some classes will have more work than others, it does not make the class any more difficult. You have to study, do your work, and attend class just like any other college student, in order to succeed. The University also requires that you miss no more than two classes with an unexcused absence. If you do have more than two unexcused absences, you automatically fail the class.

    Tips for prospective students

Know the type of people you want to be friends with and stick with that. It is easy to fall into the party crowd therefore lowering your academics. You go to college to learn, prepare for the world, and make friends; the friends you make should not negatively impact your grades and capabilities. Have fun, but know why you are here: to earn your way into your dream job. Also, do not expect your roommate to be your automatic, new, best friend. Freshman year you do not have the option of choosing your roommate, so do not expect a perfect match. Just look forward and know that you will make friends and these are the people that you can choose to live with later. If you and your roommate do get along, that's great too!

    In three sentences

Quinnipiac is a small school where you will find a variety of different people. The professors and programs are great! You will learn so much while you are here!

    Campus Safety

Definitely the safest campus I know. Never have felt unsafe even walking back from the library at 4am by myself.

    Greek Life

Only like 30% of our student body is in greek life. It's not one of those schools where you NEED to be in a sorority or fraternity to fit in. I'm in Pi Beta Phi, and I only hang out with my sisters every once in a while. It's more of the fact that you are a part of something then anything else. There's also no frat or sorority houses.

    Clubs and Activities

We have a clubs for almost anything you can imagine. If we don't have what you're looking for, it's fairly easy to start one yourself. We do need a lot of help with our arts programs. Anything involving the arts kind of sucks here.

    Bang for the buck

Ehhhhhhh it's a VERY expensive school. .....VERY expensive. And if you're going to have to take out a lot of loans to come here, I wouldn't. It's not worth the future debt.

    What to do for fun

We have soooooo many clubs and a bunch of fraternities and sororities. It's all about finding your niche. Once you do that, you'll be able to find things to do on the weekends that fit your persona. Between New Haven, North Haven, and Hamden we have theaters, shopping, and restaurants. We have two great organizations that put on events every friday and saturday night (and sometimes during the week). We have a big concert every semester. You can always find a party either on or off campus but they'll probably be shut down pretty soon. Other then that, almost everyone goes to Toad's on saturday.

    Food and Dining

Ehhhh Chartwells isn't the best food place but they are open to suggestions and they do listen to the student body if you email them with an issue. I've heard of colleges having worse food so at least it's edible! You'll get used to it.

    Dorm Life

Honestly, our dorms are AMAZING. Whether you're in the oldest building on campus or on the new York Hill campus, each building has a different experience and they are all beautiful. If you have a hall bathroom, it is cleaned everyday. If you are in a suite with your own bathroom, it is cleaned once a week.

    Academic Rigor

I'm a business major and the work is definately manageable. You will have all-nighters, group projects, presentations, and tests but it isn't too overwhelming. We have a free on campus tutoring which is really nice. So if you're really struggling with something you can go there. Our professors also have required office hours where you are welcome to go in and get help on something. There are some professors that stink (like everywhere) and some that will completely change your view on things. In the past I've had professors that wrote the business textbook, have travelled the world with their own business, and one that was VP of trade for Golman Sachs on Wall Street for 30 years.

    Tips for prospective students

RELAX!! No matter where you end up, college is what you make it. You will enjoy yourself as long as you let it happen. If you really don't like it then you can always transfer, it's not a big deal! Workload is manageable, and it's a big Health Science school. Expect a big club school where pretty much everybody goes to a teen club in new haven EVERY SATURDAY. Also expect a lot of freshman support from RAs, public safety, your personal mentors (we call them orientation leaders), professors, and the student body!

    In three sentences

Simply a land of opportunity. Small enough so that you can achieve great things but big enough so that you don't feel like you are in high school. It's a place that is always growing and in 10 years from now, diplomas from QU will be equivalent to diplomas from Fordham University.

    Campus Safety

Public safety officers are always around campus. I feel that the school is safe to walk around no matter what hour of the day. If you do for some reason ever feel unsafe you can just call public safety to escort you anywhere on campus. The surrounding area of the school is fair. But all there really is to know is typical common sense, like in any city.

    Greek Life

Greek life is unlike what you tend to think of greek life. There are no assigned greek housing. The head of campus greek life is actively looking over the different chapters on campus. There are very prominent anti-hazing programs and I have not met one person in greek life that was hazed in any way, shape or form. There are a growing number of chapters on campus for both men and women. All of them hold special events on campus in order to raise money for their national philanthropies. Many of our greek chapters have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars.

    Clubs and Activities

The school has over 100 different clubs and organizations. They hold many events such as concerts, dinners, carnivals, etc. Despite what many people think about typical school run events, they are actually a lot of fun to go to. Sporting events are also very popular to students. Basketball and Ice Hockey are the most popular sports since there is no football team. The Men's Ice Hockey team was ranked #1 in 2013 and went all the way to the Frozen Four. The biggest game of the year is the Quinnipiac-Yale game.

Great for these types of students

The majority of the students who attend are usually from either New Jersey, Long Island, Massachusetts or Connecticut. There is a growing population of international students and students from other states though. The student body is 60 girls to 40 boys. The common stereotype of students here are Caucasian, upper middle class and very into sports. But many of the students here are very compassionate and down to earth.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

We are located across the street from sleeping giant state park. Many of our students can walk across the street to get into the park. It contains trails that lead to waterfalls, a castle site and a view of the entire campus.

    Bang for the buck

If you're either a health science, business or communications student, the price of the school is definitely worth it. PT, OT, PA and nursing students are automatically accepted into the graduate programs they applied for as incoming freshmen so there is no re-applying process unless you are transferring into one. Business and communications students use state of the art equipment to prepare them for real world work. Internship opportunities and career fairs are always run on campus and many of our alumni now work for world recognized companies and networks. The campus is beautiful and everything is well kept.

    What to do for fun

There is a lot to do on campus during the day and night. Many of our students are involved in a variety of clubs and organizations. The Student Programming Board and QUAD (QU after dark) are two clubs that organize special events such as concerts, dinners, and carnivals to the school on weekend nights. They are actually a lot of fun to go to! Many of our students are also involved in greek life. Greek life is not what you expect though. There are no fraternity or sorority housing and there is a very strong anti-hazing program. All of them are very service based and hold different events in order to raise money for their philanthropies. For students who want to explore more of a social atmosphere, the QU shuttles run hourly to Hamden and New Haven to take students to restaurants, nightclubs and stores.

    Food and Dining

Food is like most college selections. Nothing tastes bad but is not the healthiest. A lot of the food is expensive. The meal plan is run as a pay-per-item system so you are never limited to a specific amount of meals per day. There is an Au bon pain chain located on campus.

    Dorm Life

You are given the option to live in a quad (4 people per room), double (2 people per room) or a suite (6-8 people per suite, double rooms connecting to a main common room). All freshmen housing is random selection. 3+1 Business students live in the doubles and honors students live in quads. All dorms are large in size and very well kept. Doubles and Quads are co-ed by floor and suites are single sexed suites.

    Academic Rigor

Depends on the field of study. Health science majors get the most work due to rigorous course work and exceeding credit hours. 3+1 Business students also have rigorous course work as well. The University Honors Program exists for students of all majors that wish to challenge themselves, but is NOT recommended for health science majors.

    Tips for prospective students

Prospective students should try to do the best they can on SAT/ACT scores because it really is important when applying to selective health science or business programs. Housing for freshmen is random selection. Quinnipiac students are also very actively involved in organizations so prospective students should think about what they want to get involved in such as greek life or student government.

    In three sentences

Quinnipiac University is the best decision I have ever made. The physical therapy program is one of the best in the country. The campus thrives from all the energy of intelligent students.

    Bang for the buck

It depends on your program. It's an expensive school so choose a program with high reward.

    What to do for fun

There are plenty of different organizations (dancing, film, theater). The student programming board works hard to give the student events. As a student you can also go clubbing off campus (the clubs are accessible).

    What to do for fun

Quinnipiac is at the foot of a mountain and state park, The Sleeping Giant. The town of Hamden surrounds the university and it is home to various shops, restaurants, and recreational venues. Students often dash over to the city of New Haven for the nightlife. New Haven is home to many of the bars, clubs, and restaurants that students frequent. The school provides a free shuttle to and from the town of Hamden and the city of New Haven which is a huge plus.

    Food and Dining

The food offered at Quinnipiac University is not the average cafeteria grub. The kitchen staff in the newly renovated cafeteria whip up new creations every day. You can expect to walk into the dining hall to find anything from sloppy Joe's to fillet Mignon. The only downside to this is that the food can sometimes be pricey, and students have to learn to budget their meal plans to last them throughout the semester.

    Dorm Life

The dorms at Quinnipiac are some of the best that I've seen. Although this is not the case with all of the dorms on campus, some dorms are older than the others, and some dorms stuff four people in a room. The rest are for the most part spacious and fairly new. The buildings are in good condition, especially the York Hill campus, which is not only state of the art, but picturesque as well.

    Academic Rigor

The academics at Quinnipiac Univesity exceeded my expectations. The classes are small and the professors are more often than not plucked right out of industry and have very applicable real world experience. The work is not easy, but when you're aiming to be a top competitor in today's job market, it shouldn't be.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure that Quinnipiac is the right school for you. If you're looking for a relatively small school with a strong academic emphasis on subjects such as business, communications, and health science this might be a good place to receive an education. Also, it is important to know whether or not the school is what you're looking for socially. Quinnipiac is not as diverse or as affordable as some of the surrounding public schools in the area, it is also not a school with a very rigorous art program.

    In three sentences

Quinnipiac is a small, yet rapidly growing university on a beautiful campus. Things like community involvement, an active lifestyle, and high academic performance are highly encouraged at the University. It's student body is made up of mostly young people from the northeast, due to this the school can get a largely homogeneous feel.

    Bang for the buck

Outstanding school that is overall worth every penny.

    What to do for fun

Shuttles are constantly running in to Hamden and also in to New Haven. Many weekends students occupy their nights with attending our #1 ranked hockey team in the nation.

    Food and Dining

Quinnipiac has much more potential to have better food, but chartwells dining is over priced and does not taste fresh.

    Dorm Life

RA's are carefully selected and really meet the needs of each person on their floor. Bathrooms are cleaned daily and the roommate selection process is almost 100% perfect on choosing who the best roommates will be.

    Academic Rigor

Challenging each student is something Quinnipiac takes pride in. They offer so many opportunities for success, including the outstanding learning center.

    Tips for prospective students

Join many clubs and organizations! You never know who might be able to connect you to your dream job.

    In three sentences

Quinnipiac University is an outstanding university for any student to attend. The beautiful campus and housing is one reason alone to attend Quinnipiac. The D1 athletics and highly ranked professors sum this university up in to one complete package.

Many students go into New Haven on the weekends. There is a lot to do in the city and there are many good places to eat.

    Food and Dining

The food and dining are good. They have a variety of meals to choose from everyday including Chinese food, a Boars Head Deli and a BYOB (build your own burger) station. It is a bit pricey but it is worth it and students are given enough money on their meal plan to afford the high prices

    Dorm Life

I loved living in the dorm. There is a diverse group of students living in every building. The dorms are so nice and the Ras are always there to help you. The buildings are safe but they are also very fun.

    Campus Safety

Quinnipiac's campus safety is hardly an issue as Public Safety officers regularly control visits. Alongside with Hamden police officers, the university ensures that all students need not worry about their safety.

    Greek Life

Quinnipiac has many different fraternities and sororities, with 3 new organizations chartering this past year, and many events exclusive for and sponsored by these participating students. There is only one multicultural organization on campus.

    Bang for the buck

As a private university, Quinnipiac is rather expensive with many students often having to take out a large amount of loans or actually transferring due to the inability to sustain the costs. I feel as if the school can and should make reasonable accommodations not only to students in need of aid but also to on campus necessities such as parking, certain housing and some classrooms.

    What to do for fun

Quinnipiac University After Dark (QUAD) and Student Programming Board (SPB) alongside many other groups have frequent programs for students looking for on campus fun. However, majority of students find themselves in the town of New Haven at the various clubs, one in particular every Saturday, as the residence halls along with the resident assistants and directors do not really allow for on campus gatherings.

    Food and Dining

The food at Quinnipiac features home cooked style options that don't often vary much. The food, usually hand made by Chartwell's employees, can either be pretty okay or very bland. The food costs are also quite expensive as our meal plan is in a debit card fashion. Students at the end of the semester often find themselves adding more money, eating off campus, or asking others to pay for them. The dining halls, however, are very well maintained and very clean.

    Dorm Life

The resident halls at Quinnipiac are among the nicest and well-kept of usual college dorms. With the exception of the transfer housing, the rooms and suites offer

    Academic Rigor

Quinnipiac offers a good range of classes for being such a small school. Dependent upon your course of study, you will have classes that vary in difficulty along with the required courses that, in my experience, fail to accomplish the desired results and end up being another 3 credit course needed to graduate.

    Tips for prospective students

Visit the school before making your decision to attend. List your must haves for a school such as academics, athletics, demographics and the surrounding area. Talk to current students, if possible, to see if anyone can relate to you and possibly how your time at the school would be.

    In three sentences

Quinnipiac University is a small, private university in Hamden, CT. The school lacks cultural and demographic diversity. Also, the separate campuses for upper and lowerclassmen as well as some science majors cause problems for getting to classes efficiently.

    What to do for fun

One of the most fun things to do at Quinnipiac is to attend an ice hockey game at the TD Bank Sports Complex at the York Hill Campus. Also, it is quite enjoyable and relaxing to spend an hour or two relaxing on the quad when the weather warms up in the spring.

    Food and Dining

There isn't much to complain about regarding food on campus, and there are also several popular dining options off campus, such as Ray & Mike's Deli, that students can enjoy.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life at Quinnipiac could use improvement because there are more and more students vying for dorm space each year, but the dorm life is what students make out of it themselves.

    Academic Rigor

Academics at Quinnipiac are challenging yet rewarding. The professors are great because they are interested in their field and in helping students succeed.

    Greek Life

There is a lot of Greek life at Quinnipiac University, but it is unnecessary. For those involved is a great opportunity to do different things and have the option to meet many different people, but the prices are outrageous, and the requirements are unreasonable. It is unnecessary with everything going on that students can be involved in and the friendliness of the community. There is no need to spend countless hours with your Greek family and extremely high prices, also required days and meetings with which you have to purchase specific clothes or outfits. The positive is that everyone in a Greek family personally enjoys themselves, but at the same time they can get a little frustrated with all of the mandatory meetings and requirements.

    What to do for fun

There are many different things to do at QU so you are never bored. We have many clubs and organizations and intramural teams. The only thing we don't have is club sports which is extremely discouraging. Other than that there is even groups that plan school wide functions for every weekend. There is a shuttle service that runs every day to the town of Hamden and New Haven where there are shops and restaurants. There is even a movie cinema. There is always something going on at QU that everyone can be a part of.

    Food and Dining

The dining at QU is very good for school food. it is made fresh daily and there are many different options and spots to purchase food. They have different menus every day, although they do not have many different options. The food budget is absolutely terrible though. Even with all of the food QU has, they give you an insufficient budget. You are only allowed 1000$ per semester that people usually run out with by mid-semester. It is impossible to stay on budget when you are eating three meals a day. For instance, one cup size of milk is 3.50$. For a budget of about 13$ a day, these prices are insufficient. Students are always running to the grocery store to stock up on food.

    Dorm Life

The dorm life is exceptional. The dorms itself, no matter if you are in a double, quad, etc., are huge!! There is an RA on every floor that keeps order. The RA's are very personal and do their best to keep their floor at their happiest. There are common rooms where people are allowed to come together and work or just hangout. If there is a problem in a dorm, numbers are available to which you can call. They are clean and have great storage.

    Academic Rigor

As a science major, the classes are very rigorous. QU has intense science programs, but that is because they are highly educational and in-depth. The class work, although nothing like high school with someone checking how you are doing, is expected to be done. It is not checked daily, but is extremely beneficial. Professors only give work if they believe it to be helpful to the students. Don't let this fool you though! The work is extremely worth it, and the want-to-succeed and intellectual atmosphere surround the campus and its students is not only motivational but very helpful to doing your best.

    Tips for prospective students

Students looking to come here should know that it is better than they would expect! Students are friendly and always looking for more people to associate with, the community is healthy and outgoing, and there is a group and opportunities for everyone. It is an expensive school, so look into scholarship opportunities, financial aid, etc., but the quality of education is prime. A huge tip would be to take a tour of the school when classes are in session! It is a great way to see how the life at Quinnipiac works, what students do, where to go, and what everything looks like. It is a great way to get a feel for what your prospective life could be at QU!

    In three sentences

I could not ask for a school where I feel most at home. The students are so caring and full of life, the classes are challenging and educational, and the views are absolutely beautiful. I would rate Quinnipiac University as an A+.

The professors at Quinnipiac are very integrated in helping the students reach their goals. They are very helpful and have office hours that usually accommodate with most schedules. They are also understanding when it comes to homework and tests.

Get involved with as much as you can. It is very easy to meet new people if you do. Have fun, but don't overdo it and risk your college career.

    Campus Safety

Quinnipiac was named #1 for campus safety in the country and it is very true, there is never a point in time where i have felt unsafe on campus.

    Greek Life

greek life makes up 25% of our campus population, and with a zero tolerance policy for hazing it makes greek life on campus a very safe and amazing experience

    Clubs and Activities

Quinnipiac has many clubs and activities, and if you dont see what you want you can even start your own club which is a great opportunity

Great for these types of students

City and country lovers because the campus is centrally located between the beautiful hiking trails of sleeping giant state park and downtown

    Bang for the buck

Quinnipiac is definitely very pricey so it is a little nerve racking, I constantly find myself thinking about my student loans. But it is worth the education and experiences that you are being given.

    Food and Dining

Food choices are good, but there are not many different choices so you are always eating the same things

    Dorm Life

Out of all of the Universities and colleges that I visited Quinnipiac has by far the Nicest dorms for underclassman and upperclassman.

    Academic Rigor

Academics are amazing here and the teacher are more than qualified for all of the courses that are taught at the university.

    In three sentences

Quinnipiac University is an amazing college and an even better learning experience. Quinnipiac is such a diverse community and I have met some of the best people because of this.

    Campus Safety

I have never felt any fear walking around campus. There isn't much campus crime. There are 24 hour security guards on campus who work tightly with Hamden PD. If anyone feels that they're in danger, there are blue lights all around campus which students can press to have security come to that location to make sure everything is ok.

    Greek Life

Greek Life isn't the same here as it is at many other universities. There is no greek housing, and greek life doesn't dominate the school. It is a great way to make friends, but if you aren't into it, you can still fit in at the school just fine.

    Clubs and Activities

There are many clubs to join at QU! Our biggest three clubs and activities is SGA, Student Programming Board, and Residence Hall Council. There is a club for almost anything you are interested in, whether it is Anime, LGBT, Spanish Club, Democratic or Republican party clubs, etc. If there is not a club on campus you'd like to see, you can create one as long as you have a sponsor and a certain amount of people!

    Bang for the buck

As most people know, Quinnipiac is a very expensive school. They do give out good scholarships, but sometimes that is not enough. Make sure you try to apply for outside scholarships, it could definitely help!

    What to do for fun

One of the best ways to have fun on campus besides getting involved with clubs, is to go to events that clubs hold! At most events, there is free food!!! Some fun activities to go to are movie nights, bingo, game nights, etc. Don't forget about sporting events! We do happen to have one of the best hockey teams in the nation!

    Food and Dining

On campus, students have two dining options to choose from. The Caf is the main option. The Caf has 5 different lines: Burger line, Pizza (only for lunch), The Kitchen line (serves breakfast in the morning), Sandwich line, Asian line, and the Hot Sandwich line. The Rat has less variety, but is open later than the Caf (p.s.- don't call it the bobcat den, or you will be laughed at. The food isn't bad, it just gets old after a while.

    Dorm Life

For incoming freshman, you get to pick the top three dorms you want to live in and fill out a survey for roommate compatibility (You cannot choose your roommates freshman year). Freshman housing has three styles, you can live in a double (2 people), a quad (4 people), or a suite (8 people). The majority of freshman live in quads, which will be either Commons or Ledges, because they house the most students.

    Academic Rigor

For the most part, the academic rigor isn't hard. Most professor's give their students a reasonable workload. If a student is ever having trouble, a professor is usually willing to help the student, whether it be after class, sending emails, etc.

    Tips for prospective students

The biggest tip every prospective student must know is that if you want to make your college experience unforgettable: GET INVOLVED! Your college experience is what you make of it! If you stay in your room all of the time, you will not be happy. That is the number 1 reason why people transfer from Quinnipiac.

    In three sentences

Quinnipiac University isn't usually prospective's students first choice, but after being at the school for a while, student's can't imagine going anywhere else! It is hard to believe that Quinnipiac has so much to offer for a school that has less than 10,000 students. Everyone can find the niche at Quinnipiac.
