Categories Comments Great for these types of students RU is great for students with a strong will to learn and are willing to sacrifice time in order to obtain the grades they deserve.
Tips for prospective students Be sure to apply for all the scholarships you can get yours hands on! Even the smallest scholarship can make a difference on that tuition bill.
Bang for the buck Depending on the program, RU's tuition, boarding, and meal plans are all student-specific and provide many options so students are able to pay for all the bills that head their way during their time at Radford. All the options are superb for students that need financial need, RU is willing to work with students in order for them to pay for their bills while in school.
Am enjoying being here I love the cozy feeling of the campus and am literally 5 minutes or less from all the buildings on campus, depending on the weather of course. All the faculty and staff are interested in making each student feel at home which is a bonus for out of state students.
Am learning a lot Professors are willing and able to help students during his or her specificed office hours. The stronger your will to learn, the more you will gain from each course.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students People who would feel overwhelmed in a large school. Those who like to work closely with their peers and professors. Liberal Arts students. Students that would appreciate the surrounding history, and beautiful mountains.
Tips for prospective students Radford University is not a difficult place to get used to. It is not large and overbearing, but it isn't so small that you will know everybody, either. Get to know all of your professors if you plan on attending this college, they will help you out tremendously. However, I can't say that this is the most diverse community that can be found on a college campus, it is certainly not inhospitable. Also, don't listen to people who say that Radford is just a party school. Of course there are parties just like any other University in Virginia, but it's nothing special in that respect.
Am enjoying being here It's a nice school, but since I don't have a car when I'm there I sometimes feel bored being in the same place.
Am learning a lot With diligent studying and hard work I have gotten a good start to my education here. The important thing is to realize that if you do work hard, you will still have time for fun and relaxation.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Make sure to finish homework THE DAY YOU RECIEVE IT if possible. It's a lot easier to finish not only because you have just gone over the material, but also because the next day you have a certain class, new material will be covered, prompting you to forget old material for the homework. Time management is also very important. Enough though your classes are very important, make sure to make some time for your friends and to relax. It will significantly help in the long run, and will help to keep yourself less stressed.
Bang for the buck The best part about Radford University has to be how friendly everyone is. Making new friends and finding people to help you in your classes is very easy. The friends you make here will last a life time. The campus is also close to a lot of food places and it's only about 10 minutes by car to Wal-Mart. You only have to walk 20 minutes to make your way down to the New River, which is really great for swimming, and for hanging out with your friends on the weekends. The dorms give you your own personal space, and give students the opportunity to meet a lot of people.
Am enjoying being here Radford has such a BEAUTIFUL campus! There are so many trees and flowers on campus that make the surrounding area seem so elegant and trendy. Even though some of the buildings are old, they look homely and welcoming. We are big on recycling and not wasting, so the campus is always kept very nice, neat, and clean. It's a big enough campus that you can avoid people when needed, but it's small enough that you can see your friends and peers everyday. It only takes about 10 minutes to walk from one side of the campus to the other, so going to class is a breeze, even if you're running a little bit late.
Am learning a lot Radford University has some of the best professors I have ever encountered who teach in very inventive and interesting ways that help with retaining information, no matter what the subject is. When difficulties in a classroom occur, the LARC has fantastic tutors that take students step-by-step with material.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Great challanging programs in the sciences, fashion, business, Sport, Excercise, and health education, psychology, and more. Basically whatever your interested in they have it and it will be a great learning experience.
Tips for prospective students If you don't want to learn anything don't come here because the staff really challanges you to actually work hard. It is mistakened for a party school but learning is the biggest priority and the professors will go out of their way to help you learn. Don't get me wrong, there are parties going on all tday everyday, but it is a great school to come to if you want a great education.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Radford University is a place for students who want to be challenged inside and outside of the classroom. For those students who want to make everlasting friendships. For those students who would love to learn in a beautiful environment. For those students looking a smaller college to broaden their horizon.
Tips for prospective students Radford University has the reputation for being a party school but that is not the case. There are parties at every university and Radford does not party any more or harder than any other school. The professors’ objective is to not only teach you enough to pass exams, but information that you will use in life. As a prospective student, I would visit the campus before making a decision because the university has more to offer you than what’s in a brochure. When coming to Radford, my advice would to get involved in the clubs and organizations on campus. By getting involved you have the opportunity to meet new people and learn more about yourself.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students If you come to Radford you'll be able to have plenty of opportunites to be involved with on-campus organizations, clubs, teams, volunteer work, parties, socializing events - especially our Highlander Festival, and job opportunites. There are plenty of outdoor activities available as well. This small town has everything a large campus can offer without the crowd.
Am enjoying being here I love being at a school where I am not just a statistic, but the professors actually know my name and make time to help me. Even though there isn't much to do in Radford, Christiansburg and Blacksburg are only 15-20 minutes down the road.
Am learning a lot Not only have I been learning in the classroom, but, surprisingly, this small town has provided me oppurtunities to learn about other cultures and diverse people.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students You need a level head to come here in my opinion. With the parties all around campus you have to be able to know the balance between fun and studying or you will be left behind in class.
Tips for prospective students Save your quarters now, laundry costs a lot.
Bang for the buck There are all sorts of clubs and activities on campus all the time. It is so much fun to be here during the year. You also really get an amazing education with the professors here.
Am enjoying being here My only complaint was not choosing my roommate freshman year and not being able to choose my suite mates the next.
Am learning a lot Professor here don't weigh you down with tons of work for the entire semester and are always there to help if you ask. Many of them are always willing to make time to help a struggling or curious student. Very few of them can be hard to handle, work load and lack of instruction wise.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students -Great for students interested in nursing, education, criminal justice, etc. Radford offers so many awesome majors. -Great for students who want a good balance between learning and having a good time. -Great for students who like the small town feel with fairly easy access to bigger cities. -Great for students who want to get connected and involved on campus.
Tips for prospective students Come visit the campus!! My recommendation would be to come more than once if you can. Come in the winter when everything is lit up for the holidays and we're all huddled into Starbucks drinking hot chocolate. Then come back in the spring when everyone is laying outside enjoying the sunshine, playing sports, etc. It's practically impossible not to fall in love with the atmosphere of RU. The school offers daily guided tours and you can come in and talk to the admissions office any time. There are tons of groups on Facebook for RU students, so try to connect with some people there that can show you around campus in a less official way than the tour guides would. Getting familiar with the school will be your biggest help in applying and being successful once you're here.
Bang for the buck I know a lot of people that came to Radford either because the price was cheaper than most other schools or because they got good scholarships. Radford is not an expensive school to begin with, and they offer a lot of help for their students. Many new students receive scholarships their first year, and beyond that everyone is eligible to apply for foundation scholarships. They also provide lots of opportunities for work on campus to help pay for things like personal expenses. Putting your money towards the education is obviously worth it, but there are so many other great aspects as well. For example, we have great dorm buildings (no hall bathrooms and AC available) and an awesome meal plan that gives you a ton of variety (Starbucks and Chik-Fil-A included!) It's totally worth the money.
Am enjoying being here I can't imagine finding a school that I love more than RU. I feel like I'm not only a student at school, but part of a community. There are so many ways for a student to get involved on campus and make connections. The SGA is really active and they hold all kinds of fun events like ice cream socials, movie nights, build a bear days, etc. We have so many clubs and organizations on campus it would be almost impossible to not be interested in at least one of them. Some examples include environmental club, RU Outdoors, clubs for almost any major offered, Greek life, CRU, and GSA, just to name a few. Radford also offers a game room, bowling alley, and a movie theatre for students, and there's always something going on around campus. The community in and around Radford is phenomenal and there's always something to do.
Am learning a lot Radford has such a great learning atmosphere. The professors here are always willing to work with students inside and outside of class to make sure that you're confident about the material you're learning. The school also provides a Learning Assistance Resource Center for students to get free tutoring from other students, as well as great studying facilities. I strongly believe that Radford does a wonderful job facilitating learning in every way possible.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students 1. Don't try to memorize school work. Learn it, read it. 2.Friends, parties, and socializing is not your top priority 3.Be a smart spender.
Bang for the buck There are so many perks to this school. With the flex meal plan all of the dining areas are half off. I usually get an entire meal from Wendy's for about $1.50! With all the activities going on on campus, there is always something to do. There are learning centers and tutors available around the clock to help with school work. Everything you need is right there waiting for you.
Am enjoying being here Radford has an amazing campus. It is fairly small, but big enough to get to know plenty of people. The whole campus is a walkable distance, about 10 minutes from one side to the other. There is always something to do, whether it is a Basketball game at the Dedmon Center, or a Bash at the Bonnie. You'll never be bored.
Am learning a lot I am currently a freshman and a business managements major here and most of the core requirements are pretty easy. Core, the English part of the curriculum is a great class. It doesn't have a lot of students, so professor-student time is intimate. The hardest courses so far I would have to say are Math and Economics. If you are not good in either, it is good to get a tutor and actually read your books. You definitely cannot just memorize what you go over in these classes.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Don't toss it out because it is known as a party school. There is much more to RU than that.
Bang for the buck There is plenty of aid available, especially for in-state students. I am not having to pay a dime!
Am enjoying being here It is a nice town in a good area. The campus is clean and very environmentally concerned. It is a great size for the college experience.
Am learning a lot Don't be fooled by this school's reputation. If you want to be challenged and learn, there is many many ways to do it.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Radford has blue station emergency lights set up throughout campus for students. It allows student to contact Radford's Police Department when they do not feel safe and they will come to their location in a very quickly matter. I believe this is a very awesome idea, because it give students a source to use if they are not comfortable with using their cell phone to call for help/
Greek Life Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Delta Sigma Theta Sigma Kappa Sigma Sigma Sigma
Clubs and Activities Resident Hall Association LEAD Scholar The national society of leadership and success Student Government Association
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The bonnie is the main student hang out, where most of the events on campus happen. Students are constantly in and out of the bonnie, so you are always bound to see someone you know.
Bang for the buck Radford creates a warm environment where students can come and feel comfortable. Students are able to meet that group of friends who share the same interest as them, but do not necessarily have the same background. It opens up many doors of opportunities for students with the interacting and small class room settings. Professors are able to learn their students names, so the class could seem more intimate.
What to do for fun Radford offers many activities for students to participate in year long. Students are able to take a part of the bowling and movie areas that are free to students for little to no charge.
Food and Dining The food here at Radford is awesome. You are given a variety of choices to choose from on a daily basis, so there is no getting sick of the same thing. You are able to expand your horizon from seafood salad to philly cheese steaks.
Dorm Life Dorm is a very different environment that shapes your personality for the better. You are able to see how others live, culturally and socially. It helps you learn more about yourself as a person by living and sharing a space with a stranger. Once you are able to adjust to the living environment, then dorm life transforms into your real life. At first, it may seem very rocky but Radford offers many clubs ad organizations that will help you get involved in your own dorm, such as Resident Hall Association. (RHA)
Academic Rigor The
Tips for prospective students I encourage prospective students to get to know their professors and take advantage of all the clubs and organizations the school has to offer.
In three sentences I enjoy the education environment here at Radford University, because I am able to connect with my professors on a personal level outside of the class room. I find it beneficial that my professors have high experience in the subjects they teach. For example, all of my criminal justice professors have experienced a career in either police work, law enforcement, paralegal, law, lawyer and more.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students People who don't want to be just a face in the lecture. People who like the idea of a self-contained campus. People who are interested in getting involved on campus.
Tips for prospective students Do not let Radford's previous reputation fool you. Radford is the complete college experience, and it is what you make it. It's small, self-contained, and provides students with a look at the real world in a somewhat controlled situation. I have had the best overall experience I think I could possibly have at Radford, and I couldn't imagine going anywhere else. I love that the professors know you by name, and I love that there are so many different activities and clubs for students to get involved in. My biggest tip: Make sure to sit in the front of your lectures. It's a big class, and you don't want to just be another face in the crowd.
Am enjoying being here I really love Radford. It is a beautiful area and I have met some really great people.
Am learning a lot I am constantly learning things at Radford. It is the complete college experience.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students radford is good for people who want to do good academically, because it’s not a party school like some people think it is. however, it is also fine socially, it’s easy to meet and make new friends in and out of your major, whether you join different clubs, a sorority, or just meet friends in your dorm.
Tips for prospective students if you are a prospective student, i recommend that you contact your roommate as soon as you receive their information, so you each know what the other is bringing. that way you won’t bring two of something that you aren’t allowed to have, like a microwave. you should also save money up or give your parents a warning that payments for the fall semester, actually start in june.
Bang for the buck radford is a really good school for the money, it allows you to live on campus, get food discounts, and get a great education. by being a medium sized campus, you can get to know your professors on a personal level, and if you get involved with research, then the school will actually pay for your plane tickets, food, and etc.
Am enjoying being here Being at Radford has given me the ability to be more social by joining different clubs. Radford offers both academic clubs and social clubs. If you are the type of person who wants to join a sorority or fraternity, then those are also available. I am the treasurer and secretary of Radford’s Premed Club, which allows the members to tour different Medical schools and be able to have workshops so that students can do better on the MCATs. Radford also has an Honors Society that I am a member of, which holds picnics and allows you to register early for classes. Another club is the Club for College of Science and Technology (CSAT); this club goes on trips such as Washington D.C. to visit the Smithsonian, the National Observatory in West Virginia, and picnics at the local park. The chemistry club is not only for chemistry majors, but for anyone who has an interest in chemistry. The chemistry club holds chemistry shows for the local elementary school as well as shows for the university, they also hold picnics with the CSAT Club.
Academic Rigor the professors are very helpful and are always there if you need them to reinforce something that you can’t remember. there is also the learning assistance and resource center that offers free tutoring by your peers, if you don't understand the material, or the professors intimidate you. all professors have office hours so they can help you and they are also available by e-mail to answer any questions that you may have.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Anyone interested in liberal arts, nursing, psychology, and education especially. But any student looking for a big school with a small feeling, great organizations to get involved in, and just an overall cozy atmosphere.
Tips for prospective students Get involved upon starting school your first semester! It definitely makes making friends a whole lot easier! Also, don't let the party school reputation turn you away. Yes, just like any college or university, there are parties over the weekends and some during the week, but it IS a dry campus, so the partying takes place outside of school. Also, if you don't want to get involved in the partying, you might not even notice that it has a party school reputation. Keep in mind that Radford University is a school that focuses on it's students and academics - NOT it's football team!
Bang for the buck You most definitely get your money's worth while attending Radford University. There are numerous housing options on campus, including dorms with and without air conditioning (living without air conditioning isn't as bad as you would think!). The professors are great and it's obvious as to which ones really DO enjoy teaching and challenging students. The resources on campus are fantastic, like a library that's open until midnight (and all night during finals!) as well as a building that's open all but a few hours one day during the week for those all night study sessions, or just a quiet place to read a text book. The dining options are also nice too, and it's definitely easy to mix things up a bit.
Am enjoying being here The overall atmosphere at Radford University is absolutely fantastic, and one of the big aspects that drew me to the university initially. It's a growing school with a small school feeling, and the students are really friendly and want you to get involved in their organizations. It's really nice attending a school where you're more than just a number or statistic, and your professors, college advisor, and even vice provost of admissions knows you by name.
Am learning a lot I am most definitely learning a lot here at Radford University. The professors really do stress coming to them during their office hours if you need help, or just want to talk about the subject matter of the class, or being gone over during a certain class period.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students who like the outdoors and enjoy being on a smaller campus and interacting with their class will absolutely love it here.
Tips for prospective students The best way to get into Radford is to make decent grades and really be passionate in the essay questions.
Bang for the buck The dorms are a good size compared to other colleges, the food is good, the classes are well-taught and there are free services offered such as aerobic classes, counseling and bowling.
Am enjoying being here Radford is a great place to live. The campus is gorgeous and people are always hanging out on the quads. The students are really nice and friendly. There's a lot of events going on and always something to go to. There's even yummy places to eat.
Am learning a lot The teachers are interested in their classes and interested in hearing from the students. That makes me a better student and the fact that all my teachers are available for meetings makes learning easier.

Tips for prospective students .Study hard .Get textbooks in advance .Meet with your professors often! .Get involved
Bang for the buck Radford University offers one of the most reasonable tuition rates in the state! A private college 45 minutes away costs way MORE than what I pay here and they have way LESS things at their school.
Am enjoying being here Radford(the city) is a small town with not much built up here. BUT the school offers so much to do on campus. I can not count on my hands how many times I done something FREE, gotten something FREE, or eaten something FREE! The concerts and activities make it so much fun during study breaks.
Am learning a lot Radford has many different courses to learn new information in. My classes and professors challenge me to work harder and in different ways then I did in high school.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Someone who doesn't want a huge school, or a microscopic one. Someone who needs to be able to spend one-on-one time with their professors.
Bang for the buck Colleges everywhere are increasing their tuition. Radford offers a great college experience at a cost that is still relatively affordable if you put for the effort and get scholarships and grants.
Will enjoy being here There are so many clubs, organizations, and things to do around the campus year-round. Also, you're about 20 minutes away from the mall and movies and all. If you say there's nothing to do here, then you obviously have been in your dorm all year!
Will learn a lot I know that I will be able to learn a variety of subjects by going to Radford. I can't wait to start taking all of my classes!

Categories Comments Greek Life Greek life at Radford is fantastic. All of the fraternities and sororities are amazing and they do a great job connecting with both the greek community, the campus, and the local community.
Tips for prospective students Live in a dorm freshman year. I know you think it isn't cool but it's the best way to meet other freshmen.
In three sentences It's a great school where the classes are small so students get a lot of one on one time with the professors. The campus is the perfect size and the students are great.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck If you live off campus the tuition is very reasonable, especially if you're a state resident.
What to do for fun There are a lot of activities to do and to choose from depending on what you like. Some examples are Zumba fitness class, rock climbing, a bowling alley, pool tables, movie nights, camping and hiking trips, music concerts, watching the games (softball, baseball, soccer, basketball, etc.) I'm sure there is something for everyone.
Food and Dining I really can't complain about the food. It is pretty decent. There are a lot of choices to choose from. They have Chick-Fil A, Papa John's, Austin's Grill (hamburger place), Au Bon Pain, Pink Berry (frozen yogurt), Wendy's and the main cafeteria, Dalton Place.
Dorm Life I am a commuter student, so I can't really say much about dorm life. My friends seem to like it. But again everybody is different so there will always be some that will not like it. That is reality.
Academic Rigor Academic rigor is a lot but it is not unbearable. Every class is different you it is doable. I thing I highly recommend is not to procrastinate. The homework is not busy work it is actually work that will really help you learn about your career.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you go to your teachers if you need help. They are all willing to help you out. Get yourself out there and join clubs and make friends. It's the people not the place that makes your experience worth while.
In three sentences Radford Uninversity is a whole new experience for me. It has opened up a whole new world. Students and teachers are really nice and I feel right at home there.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Radford is great for students that want an education. Radford is for all students, whether they are looking to be a teacher or a business owner. Radford is a great University for people that like a smaller, more interactive campus. Radford prides itself in helping its students and so if you are a student that needs help Radford is for you!!!
Tips for prospective students my tips for students is to work hard and to always strive to be the best you can in your major. Interact on campus and leave your mark. This means don't just stay in your dorm the whole time. Go out into downtown Radford or get involved in a club on campus. There is never a dull moment on campus and so be ready to have you socks knocked off by Radford.
Bang for the buck At Radford you get the most experience ( academically and socially) for the price. The university has movies every week, delicious food, a game room, a Olympic size pool, athletic arenas and much more. There is always something going on on campus, whether it be a celebrity performer or a field day out in one of the quads. Everyone can find something to do in the 200 + clubs that are on campus. There is everything from Greek life to honors societies. In my 2 years I have gotten more out of Radford then I initially thought I would but I have loved being at Radford. I think that I get the most out of Radford because of how interactive it is.
Am enjoying being here Radford is one of the most interactive campus's I have seen. There are over 200 clubs and organization on campus to choose from and I never feel pressured to do things. Radford is extremely safe, in the 2 years I have been at Radford I have not had an incident on campus. I have met people at Radford that are now like family to me and the classes were interactive enough that I could get one on one time with my professors. Radford is a smaller campus and everything is on the main loop which makes going to classes easy.
Am learning a lot Going to Radford University was the best choice I could have made. The classes are small usually between 20-90 people and the teachers always are willing to help. If you need help the professors understand and want you to come to them. I have learned how to interact with people and I am still learning more each day. Radford is an amazing place and it has brought me out of my shell and helped me to learn how to make friends. At Radford you learn not only on the academic level but also on the social and the professional working level.

Bang for the buck They really help you out when you need it. The school provides excellent financial aid and also announces when they are having scholarships that you can apply for online. Very helpful when it comes to money.
Am enjoying being here I enjoy Radford greatly! There are some really great people and professors. Everyone is generally nice and welcoming and very helpful. Although there is not too much to do there is always stuff to find. The New River is great to tube on and just relax with friends. There is Christiansburg 15 minutes away for shopping. Everyone seems like family around.
Am learning a lot Radford has some very great programs. All the professors are kind and helpful if you need extra help from them. They also enjoy when you just talk to them. I have not had any professors that I didn't like and they all seem pretty relaxed. I have learned a lot from my classes that I have taken and the professors make sure that your understanding of the subject is the same as theirs.

Bang for the buck I love how with flex meal plan you have an unlimited amount of swipes throughout the semester and there are so many awesome food choices on campus. I am deffinately learning a lot of interesting stuff already that have to do with my major.
Am enjoying being here I was the student that said I would never go to a school like Radford, but as soon as I stepped foot on campus I knew it was the place I really wanted to call home for the next four years.
Am learning a lot So far, I feel like college classes are actually easier than most of my high school classes. I love how the classes sizes are also small compared to other Universities.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Radford University is great for the outgoing student. The student who is focused on learning, but also likes to have fun.
Tips for prospective students The tips I would give for prospective students is to look past the country atmosphere where the city of the college takes place in. It is a wonderful school, and you're no doubt to have a lot of fun and really enjoy yourself here.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I feel completely safe moving on campus. I feel safe when out shopping too. No worries.
Clubs and Activities As an underclassman I am president of a campus club. That's a great opportunity for me. People still seem to be a bit apathetic toward campus clubs. I'd like to change that. We are working to make ourselves more visible on campus.
Great for these types of students I came from an urban high school. Radford is a great 'other way of life' experience for me. I like that the school also maintains diversity even though the setting is pretty rural.
What to do for fun The gym is great in your spare time. I also enjoy running and hiking. Radford runs a bus to town to get what you need for daily life. There are no huge distractions around the campus. That's how it should be!
Food and Dining I love the flex plan for meals. I can eat almost anywhere I want with my card. Quite often I ate my meals after the cafeterias were closed. You'll never go hungry! Remember to keep track of the amount you have left on your card, though.
Dorm Life Even the older dorms are nice. I'm impressed with how clean they are at move in time. It can be tough to share a bathroom-but it's all good!
Academic Rigor Radford gives a good 'solid' education. You won't find fluff classes here. Some instructors are foreign, and hard to understand; but your whole class is there to help each other. Get together and figure it out! Don't work in a vacuum.
Tips for prospective students Get all you can in High School. When you finally get to Radford, always go to class, apply yourself in class, and study after class. Invest in a Winter coat and boots, because it does snow. If you have to walk to class, at least you'll be warm!
In three sentences Radford is a great University. Courses are demanding and instructors are fair. The rural mountain setting is peaceful and safe.

Greek Life there are a bundle of different frats and sororites.
Clubs and Activities there are clubs for everything here, and if there isn't one for you, you can make one and get it approved.
Great for these types of students all types of students.
What to do for fun there is a bunch to do for fun when you are a college student, be creative. theres bisset park just around the corner and the river. radford also has a samll game area with pool tables, ping-pong, and a bowling alley. theres also screamers where you can see live bands and sharkeys to watch the games.
Food and Dining flex plan is the best plan hands down, if you have money left over at the end of the semster you can use it to buy huge bulk cases of soda or other drinks. dalton dining hall is the best for a lot of food really cheap, there is also pizza hut, wild greens, starbucks, wendy's, salsaritas, chick-fi-le, and ben & jerry's if you dont like dalton.
Dorm Life dorm life is fun and a good way to meet people your first year, but it's cheaper to live off campus and better than a meal plan your future years.
Academic Rigor it really depends on the class, but the important thing is to show up even if you dont do anything in class, just be there. most classes grade on attendace and tests. homework is only handed out in certain classes like core.
Tips for prospective students if you like fraternaties and sororites go to light side if not go to dark side. there is more police activity and it is more expensive to live on light side. muse is fun for the first year, but moffet is the more chill dorm.
In three sentences radford has the best size campus, its not too big and not too much either. it also recently got a new transportation system so it's easier to get around if you don't have a car. radford is so much fun and has something for everybody.

Categories Comments Campus Safety all around campus there are stations with little blue lights. if you are ever in a dangerous situation all you have to do is press the button on the side of the pole and the police will head your way. also when your car is here, you have to park far away and can be very unsafe walking back at night. so the police department has offered to escort you back if you ever feel unsafe walking alone.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus radford every year before spring finals has a thing called quadfest. this is a time for everyone to just let loose and have a huge block party. all of campus gets involved.
What to do for fun radford has just about anything to do for fun, and if you bring your car first year christiansburg isn't that far away to go to the mall or something.
Food and Dining food and dining depending on your plan can be good or bad. we have 2 dining halls and all of the food is so good. also in the basement of muse there is a restaurant that serves a 3 course meal. this serves steak and chicken and a lot of other things.
Dorm Life if you are an incoming freshman i would suggest living in muse. this is the largest dorm and is mostly designated for freshmen. i currently live here and have met so many people living here than i think i would if i had lived somewhere else.
Academic Rigor i have noticed at radford many of the classes for freshmen are very similar to high school. however, depending on your major classes are more difficult than others. as a pt major i have a very large workload and a very vigorous class schedule
Tips for prospective students if you are planning on going to radford, i would suggest going to quest and taking tours before hand. if you end up going here get involved with as many clubs and organizations as possible while keeping your grades high.
In three sentences i am currently attending radford as a freshman and have noticed that there is a lot of different activities to do. there is always something to do even if you aren't a party goer. i love radford university

Academic Rigor Academic rigor at Radford is becoming more and more demanding.
Tips for prospective students Set yourself challenging, but realistic goals that you want to achieve during the semester. Do not study the night before; start studying a week in advance up until the test.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Dispersed throughout the University and surrounding areas, are security and emergency assistance kiosks. Radford University goes to great lengths to ensure a safe and happy educational environment for all its students. The local police are devoted to student safety and the University also has its own campus police force tasked with ensuring students can receive their education un-accosted and unharmed. Radford University is a very safe place to earn your education.
Greek Life Radford University features both academic and social fraternities and sororities for anyone interested in becoming a part of something greater than themselves. Many of them take part in charitable activities such as blood drives, food drives, and lots of other forms of community service and volunteerism. The local Greek organizations provide a great service to the community.
Clubs and Activities Radford University features a litany of clubs, organizations, and interest groups from accounting (business fraternities) to xylophones ( music majors and clubs). If you have an interest, there is a group that feels the same way about your favorite topics, activities, and subjects.
Great for these types of students Radford University is the place to be for anyone interested in getting a great education as long as they're okay with having a blast while doing it.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Many businesses, including a retro theater, are situated just off campus, ripe for the picking. Simply take a stroll downtown to see all the local fare and amusements.
Bang for the buck Radford University is the second most affordable University found in Virginia. Every year, the University acquires more assets, faculty, and boasts an increasingly larger student body. The education and experiences students receive here is greatly respected by employers throughout the east coast of the United States and beyond. An investment in your education at Radford University is an investment which absolutely pays dividends and can only be expected to appreciate in value.
What to do for fun The Radford Campus is nestled right in the heart of the New River Valley, just a short walk away from the New River itself. During the Fall, Spring, and Summer, you can raft, kayak, swim, or float lazily down the banks of the second oldest river in the world. Several local parks provide sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of town life. I often find myself trekking down River-way park which links the University directly to nearby Bisset park. The local retreats offer rest and relaxation as well as the space to enjoy a game of Frisbee, volley ball, or basketball should the mood strike you. There are also lots of open spaces on campus. Students can often be seen frolicking in the quad or common areas when not in class. There is always something to do and local clubs, community organizations, and interest groups are always sponsoring outdoor activities, game nights, and karaoke at the local bars and eateries.
Food and Dining Radford University offers a variety of excellent dining choices. Whether your style is more Italian, Japanese, French, or American, RU has a plethora of fine cuisine sure to whet your appetite. After a long hard day of studying, I love to refresh my body and mind with a nice tall glass of sweetened ice tea from our Au Bon Pain terrace shop in Dalton Dining Hall. When I need more significant sustenance following a lengthy workout, I head over to Papa John's for a hearty slice of pepperoni and cheese pizza with hot wings to add a little jolt to my afternoon routine. When it comes to food, Radford University has anything a college student like myself could want- and its all just a brief stroll away from your dorm or classroom.
Dorm Life The University strives to maintain excellence in living quarters. During my first year at Radford, I lived on Campus in the Governors quad. The accommodations were wonderful. I shared a room with a close personal friend and my suite mates and I became good friends in no time. The dorms are designed to bring students closer together and they do so in a meaningful way - all while allowing the students a roomy and expansive environment in which to learn and grow as citizen-scholars.
Academic Rigor Depending upon the course of study, Radford University offers a varying degree of challenge and prestige to students in attendance. I chose to supplement my Political Science major with a concentration in Public Administration and a minor in Economics. Since I'm pursuing my Masters degree in Business Administration and Finance, I wanted to expose myself to as much upper level business mathematics and applied Calculus as I could muster. Ultimately, the rigor students are exposed to, depends upon their personal choices. If the student wants to be challenged, Radford University certainly offers many challenging and engaging courses especially in the College of Science and Technology.
Tips for prospective students 1) Maintain a strong work ethic including emphasis on academics. 2) Network, socialize, and personalize your university experiences. 3) Build upon past successes and focus on your strengths rather than your weaknesses.
In three sentences Radford University is a higher education institution of excellence. The combination of accessibility, affordability, and incredibly relevant instruction ensures students a brighter future at every turn. As I look forward to graduation next Spring, I know my successes here will be a preamble to even greater accomplishments throughout my life.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Radford has their own police department and SWAT team. They have a good alert system that text or email you when ever there is a problem.
Greek Life Greek life is pretty large on campus, they do a lot of activities and there are a lot of them to choose from.
Clubs and Activities There all kinds of clubs on campus and activities to participate in. There are a wide variety of clubs to be a part of.
Great for these types of students Its a great school for all kinds of students, but if you are a big partier it can be easy to get out of control, and you'll have to work hard to keep up.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Every year on campus at the beginning of the year is the Highlander festival which can be pretty fun, it unites the community with the campus. then in the spring is quadfest which can get a little out of control, but its a lot of fun as well.
Bang for the buck If you are an instate student, the tuition is very affordable. If you are an out of state student it can be a little expensive, but its still decently affordable.
What to do for fun There is usually something going on down by the river, which is fun, there's also the game room in the student center where there are pool tables, ping pong, and bowling.
Food and Dining There are a lot of fast food places, there are some healthy places to eat, but mostly places like Wendy's, Papa Johns, Salsaritas, Chick-fil-a, Au Bon Pain, Starbucks, and Pink Berry
Dorm Life The dorms are great, each dorm has a kind of theme to it. You can have your own microwave, refrigerator, aquatic pet, and all the rooms have its own bathroom that you share with your roommate and your suite mates. The bathroom has its own shower and toilet, and two sinks.
Academic Rigor It really depends on your major as to how difficult the academics are.

Greek Life Great! We have both social and academic fraternities and sororities. Very respectable.
Clubs and Activities Over 200 clubs and organizations! And, if you cannot find a club/organization that interests you, you can make your own with 8 of your friends. Also, RU is very helpful with club funding.
Great for these types of students All types!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Muse Hall is the tallest dorm hall and is over 90% freshman. It is a Radford tradition to live in Muse Hall your freshman year.
Bang for the buck Get taught by doctors, great food, great friends, great memories. Also, you get a challenging course load as well.
What to do for fun Floating down the river, watching soccer and our great basketball team, also there is a mall within 30 minutes of campus.
Food and Dining GREAT FOOD!!! Wendy's, Pink Berry, Sabarros, Sushi, just to name a few. Plus, BT's, 7-11, and a number of other awesome restaurants are within walking distance from campus.
Dorm Life RAs are absolutely phenomenal. They are felxible, understanding and very helpful. Most dorms are air conditioned as well.
Academic Rigor Classes are interesting, but professors will challenge you.
Tips for prospective students Attend Quest and join a Facebook group for your graduating class. Also, make sure you live on campus! It is awesome!
In three sentences Radford University is a phenomenal school! The professors actually get to know you as a person and actually teach; as opposed to being taught by a Teacher's Assistant. The campus is also extraordinarily beautiful!

Categories Comments Campus Safety The Radford Police are everywhere and always there, available and happy to help or assist. They can help you if you are walking around campus late. There are also emergency call buttons located scattered around campus, easy to use if there is an emergency.
Greek Life There are plenty of fraternities and sororities at Radford. You just have to ask around and research or wait until Greek Week, where they showcase each fraternity and sorority offered.
Clubs and Activities PLENTY of clubs and activities at Radford. I believe there are over 230 clubs offered at Radford. They are very diverse and welcoming. And if there is a club that you think should be established, it is not hard to talk to someone to get it started.
What to do for fun Radford is always having something to do. On the weekends, they show movies at the Bonnie and the movies are recent movies. Also at the Bonnie, are pool tables and a bowling alley in the back.
Food and Dining The food there is great. They have a main dining hall called Dalton Dining Hall. They serve the school food but it also has a Wendy's, Papa Johns and other things like that. Then the Bonnie, which is another dining hall, has a Chick-Fil-A, a PinkBerry, a Starbucks and more. They are very convenient, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Dorm Life From what I saw the dorms are a nice size and have great closet space. The drawback is that you have to share with another room of two people which makes a total of four people sharing one bathroom. That's only in select resident halls, particularly the older ones.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you have all of your paperwork and stuff together for classes. you have to stay organized and have a great sense of time management.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Growing up in Blacksburg, I know a lot about campus safety. I feel very safe at Radford. There are locked entrances to every dorm, and there are campus police everywhere. The police don't try to get students in trouble at all, and are there solely for our protection. When there is slightest bit of danger, Radford sends out calls, texts, and emails to keep us updated.
Greek Life There are a lot of different sororities and fraternities, making it easy for everyone to find their place.
Clubs and Activities There are TOO MANY to even begin to list!
Great for these types of students Radford is great for everyone who is okay with not living in a big city.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Many people are still trying to find the entrances to the underground tunnels that run all over campus.
Bang for the buck Compared to the rising prices of tuition at many other in-state universities, I definitely feel like I get a lot for how much I am paying.
What to do for fun There are so many beautiful hiking trails located in the New River Valley that make great day trips. Tubing at Bissett Park, or hanging out at the beach at Claytor Lake are also extremely fun. On campus there is bowling, pool tables, ping pong tables, and a movie theater. Plus, there are always so many activities sponsored by the university.
Food and Dining Food at the dining halls is nothing spectacular, unless you go to Muse Dinner. The options for food, other than the dining halls, is quite extensive. I never find myself getting tired of anything on campus.
Dorm Life Dorm life is GREAT! Although there are still a few older dorms, almost all have been completely renovated, leaving only one without air conditioning. Most dorms have also upgraded to washers and dryers that accept our student ID's for payment, instead of quarters.
Academic Rigor Many people think Radford is just a party school with a few decent programs, but after visiting other colleges and sitting in on their classes, Radford is every bit as challenging. The professors really encourage you to push yourself to the limit, and are there every step of the way to help you.
Tips for prospective students Although there is a lot of fun to be had at Radford, don't let it get in the way of academics. Make sure to keep a healthy balance of school and fun.
In three sentences Radford University is amazing. The staff, teachers, and students are all very friendly and nice. The teachers are extremely helpful, and the class sizes are small enough to have personal relationships with each of your professors.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Right on campus, there's a pool and a rock wall, plus two gyms and a game room. There's also a bus that goes into nearby Blacksburg and Christiansburg, not to mention the weekend movie nights.
Food and Dining Radford has excellent dining halls on campus, and more than plenty of great restaurants in the city and nearby withing a ten-minute drive.
Dorm Life Dorm life at Radford is spectacularly awesome or awful compared to any other university. The only downside is that some dorm building do not allow microwaves in the rooms, making getting food a not-so-quick affair.
Academic Rigor Radford isn't a private university, so the expectations aren't rigorously strict, but each college definitely has its expectations for all majors.
Tips for prospective students Use maps and walk around campus before the first day of classes. Get used to where you classes are and where your dorm is relative to the other buildings.
In three sentences Radford has a very beautiful and close-knit campus. The dorms and main buildings are all centrally located near each other, while the city expands out from it, while not being very hard to navigate. Everything you need is within almost walking distance.

Radford, right now, has about 9,500-10,000 students and it's growing. It's also the only college/university in Virginia with that size that includes the graduate students. It's a very comfortable campus and student body size.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Never go out by yourself. Always take someone with you because you never now what can happen. It is recommended to travel in groups to be safe.
Clubs and Activities There are so many different clubs that students can attend. I am in The Wildlife Society which is where we learn about how to protect animals and take trips like to the zoo and Claytor Lake where we rescued clams that had washed up. If you are interested in sports but just want to do it for fun, not be on a team, then there are club sports.
Bang for the buck If you don't have a job, things like ramen noodles and bottled water are popular. Books are expensive so take care of them so they can be resold if you need to.
What to do for fun If you are looking for something fun to do, the Bonnie has lots of things to do. The game room has pool tables, ping pong and a bowling alley. Usually on the weekends a fairly new movie is shown in the auditorium which is free for students. RU-Space does activities like tie dye shirts and make your own pillow. Also there are several clubs that you can participate in that do activities.
Food and Dining The campus has several different places for you to chose to eat at. The Bonnie has Starbucks, Chik Fil A, Pinkberry, Wild Greens and Austin Grill. Dalton has Wendy's, ABP(sandwich and soup place), a sushi bar, Papa John's and the Dalton dining Center. All the places serve good food.
Dorm Life It is required to live in a dorm your first year. Living in a dorm gives you a chance to branch out and meet new people. It also teaches how to live on your own. If you do not know your roommate, you get to experience living and coping with another person. Sometimes some people can be obnoxious but overall dorm life is great.
Academic Rigor Turn your work in on time. Don't wait until the night before to do papers or assignments. Procrastination can get to you but try not to let it take over.
Tips for prospective students Study all that you can. Try not to be drawn into the party scenes too often and focus on your studies. There are several places to study and some that are open 24 hours. Go to your classes. Skipping may seem like a good idea at the time but it hurts you in the long run. Don't wait to the last minute to complete work; professors are not as lenient as high school teachers were.
In three sentences Radford University has a beautiful campus. The professors are nice and very helpful. It is a great college to attend and has lots of interesting programs.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Radford University does a great job of protecting its students. They have alert systems that contact students and their families whenever something has or is happening so you will be aware of threatening situations. The dorms are automatically locked at night so you need your ID to swipe in and you cannot use your ID to enter a dorm other than the one you live in. The campus police are very friendly; I have seen them dance with students at school events. However, they take their jobs very seriously. At student orientation, the campus police introduce themselves and encourage you to utilize their services when necessary. They are dedicated to their jobs and they care about your safety more than anything so do not be afraid to call them!
Clubs and Activities Radford University gets you acquainted with activities they have to offer during the first week of school. Two days before classes started, the university had an outdoor movie night on the lawn which I thought was pretty awesome. They also have a club fair which introduces over two hundred clubs and organizations. Due to the university's surrounding environment, there are activities that you would not necessarily find in city-like areas such as kayaking, canoeing, white water rafting, mountain-biking, etc. Radford has a variety of activities available, but again you have to be willing to get out there.
Great for these types of students Radford University would be great for students who want to get away from the city life. The rural area allows a lot of exploring and beautiful sight-seeing but overall the area has a pretty slow pace unless you go to parties every night. Side-note: if you plan on getting drunk at all, do not get caught being so on campus because Radford is working hard to be a dry campus. When I first visited the school, I was told a freshman had brought beer in his dorm on move in day and before his parents could even get half way home, he was expelled. Radford is trying hard to boost their reputation so if you are coming here to party, be smart. This school is also a great place for students who are social or desire to become social because there are mass opportunities to make new friends.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Radford University has an event called Quadfest that happens every year before spring exams. It started out as a festive on-campus event, but now it is known as an off-campus, weekend long party outlet. The students took over the event after the university stopped sponsoring the event in order to build their reputation as a dry campus. Therefore, students definitely look forward to it every year because it is so chaotic and barely censored.
Bang for the buck I would definitely say Radford University was worth the money I paid for it. It was all I expected to be: safe, friendly and free. There have been a few instances where the police or ambulances have had to intervene on campus, but for the most part nothing too severe has gone down. I cannot speak for everyone, but the majority of the people at Radford are friendly and open. In the beginning of my semester at Muse, a student decided to walk around scaring people by walking into their rooms (those who kept their doors open) wearing a morph suit. Instead of calling the cops and getting the crazy guy in trouble, people just shrugged it off as a joke, took pictures with him, and posted it on Facebook and everything. You are definitely your own person at Radford University and are treated as such. No one treats you like a child unless you give them a reason to. Luckily, I was pretty independent when it came to school work, but coming to Radford made me more aware of my responsibilities as an adult. Radford is convenient for students who live in-state because the university has buses that take you close to home for very good prices. Radford was certainly a great investment.
What to do for fun First off, although Radford is a small city, there is plenty to do on and off campus. Do not let anyone tell you different because there are plenty of people who complain about having nothing to do when they just do not want to get off their lazy butts and explore. The school offers and introduces plenty of clubs during the first week of school and they are pretty entertaining. Furthermore, these clubs are always hosting activities which you can discover upon looking at the events television in the student center or the flyers posted all around campus. For example, just recently the African Student Association hosted an informative event about Kwanzaa that included African dancing, choir singing and free food that was pretty amazing. In the student center there is a bowling alley, a mini movie theater that plays pretty recent movies, and pool tables. If you are a sports person there is a gym in Muse Hall along with Peters Hall which holds the basketball court or you can gather some friends and play sports on many open spaces on campus. Nonetheless, if you want to go off campus there are buses (that are free for students) that take you to the mall and movie theater in Christiansburg that is about fifteen minutes away, Walmart, the Dedmon Center where sporting events are held, etc. I have only listed a few of the many things Radford University has to offer. There is plenty out there to do for fun, you just have to get yourself involved.
Food and Dining I love the fact that there are two buffets on campus, one in Muse hall during lunch time and one in Dalton Hall that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Both buffets are amazing and they have a salad bar every day! They also have Chick-fil-A, Starbucks, Papa John's, Wild Greens and a few other choices, but if you ever get sick of them there are always off-campus options close by as well. Some of the off-campus restaurants allow you to pay for meals with your Radford Express card which is basically your university ID card that you can put money on and use like a credit card. The only place I would not recommend eating on campus is the Austin Grill which is supposed to serve Tex-Mex , but, in my opinion, it does not satisfy. Also, if you love to eat the best meal plan to take is the Flex because you get a little over 500 dollars in food dollars for the semester that you can use anywhere on campus plus vending machine money. However, if somehow you spend your money too quickly, just wait until towards the end of the semester because students with too much Flex money left over start randomly buying food for people.
Dorm Life Radford University has two types of on-campus housing: standard and traditional, standard having the more modern looking dorms. Each dorm building has study lounges students can use at any time which comes in handy when in need of quiet time. This year I am living in Muse Hall which is probably the most animated dorm on-campus because it is full of freshman but it provides a great experience. Sure there are some inconsiderate people who play their music ridiculously loud for no reason, but, from my experience, if you ask them nicely to turn it down they will do so. I recommend this dorm for freshman who would like to bond with their new classmates and make new friends. My friends and I literally walked on all thirteen floors of Muse and students greeted us in addition to letting us in their rooms to visit. It was pretty awesome! The rooms are pretty much what you make of them, if you do not decorate them, they will not look like much. There will be four students to a bathroom because Muse is a traditional building but it is not bad at all if you all communicate effectively. Also, living in Muse Hall means you will be farthest from all of your classes and the dining areas aside from the dining hall in Muse (obviously).
Academic Rigor I just finished my first semester here at Radford University and so far I have not had any classes that were too hard for me to handle. Honestly, if you take studying seriously then you will do just fine. There is no way of escaping writing papers so you should mentally prepare yourself for those. If you stink at writing papers, they have a writing center and a helpful writing website for you to utilize. Plus, you pay for them both in your tuition so you might as well use them. Radford University is also insistent on making its students great speakers so expect to have at least one oral presentation before you graduate. Keep in mind you are in college, therefore, average PowerPoint's will not get you very far and your presentation will most likely be timed and expected to be rehearsed. The professors at Radford are very dedicated to their jobs and they do what they can to help you as long as you are willing to help yourself (cliche, but very true). If you are struggling or are worried about an assignment, do not hesitate to contact your professor.
Tips for prospective students Radford University is located in a mountainous area so the weather can be chilly at times but nothing too serious. As far as the dorms go, if you want to share a bathroom with only your roommate (and have air conditioning), then request standard living. The classes at the university are small so your professors are easy to reach. Do not be afraid to ask staff members for help because they are without doubt here for you. Nevertheless, if you are not sure of something be sure to check for yourself first. Something to pick up on when coming to Radford is learning how to be a proactive adult. Be on your toes when registering for classes because it gets very competitive and you may not get the classes you need that semester otherwise. More importantly, always keep in mind your purpose in coming to college. It is all well and good to experience the college life socially, but do not abuse your new found freedom or it will backfire and you are likely to find your money (or your family's money) wasted.
In three sentences Overall, Radford University is a very friendly place and the environment is extremely home-like. The staff members are helpful and there are plenty of resources available to help with academics, social life, etc. Radford University definitely cares about its students so if you come with an ambitious mind-set, you will be successful.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Radford is great for students who want to go to a college that is not big and have 100's of people in their classes. Radford is a great sized school, there is a lot of kids but the classes are so small that you can still get to know your professors. People who need extra advice or want to get closer to your professors come to Radford, The professors here want you to come talk to them and help you.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus They have the Radford festival in the fall and this is when people from that part of the region come. They have Scottish people dressed in kilts and play bag pipes. They have a lot of food and many different things you can do. The best thing about this is that its right on campus, so you do not have to go far to enjoy it.
What to do for fun You can always go down by the river and run along the side, fish, play tennis, go to the parks. They have many things you can do there. The scenery is beautiful.
Food and Dining Radford does not have much variety to eat on campus, but there are many different places to eat off of campus. The Bonnie and the Dalton is where there is to eat. In the Dalton they have Papa Johns, Wendy's, a sushi place, Au bou bon, and a cafeteria. In the Bonnie there is Chick-fil-a, pink berry, Wild Greens, Austins Grill, and Starbucks.
Dorm Life The dorm life is wonderful. There are so many amazing people you meet. They are very friendly and love to get to know everyone. The RA's are so nice. You can talk to them about anything and if you need help they are always there to help you. They give a lot of advice so you know what your doing. Muse Hall is the big 13 floor building and living there you will meet so many different people. People are always hanging out in the front and they are always saying hello and asking how your doing.
Academic Rigor If you attend every class and pay attention your grades will be very good. The homework in certain classes make you really think about the question at hand.
Tips for prospective students Just come visit the campus once and meet people, you will fall in love with this school. Go take a walk around campus and look at all the beautiful nature around you. Talk to people there, they are very welcoming.
In three sentences Radford has a nice environment around the campus like the new river. Everyone is so nice and friendly there. The campus is not to big but not to small.

Greek Life So I really dont know much about Greek Life but the thing is Greek life is not for everybody and you have to decide if its for you or not.
Clubs and Activities The clubs and activities really give you a great place to meet new people with your same interests its a great place to meet friends.
Great for these types of students If your outgoing, friendly and will do your school work you will thrive in Radford.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus So there is a belief that muse hall completes Nostradamus's predictions for the end of the world.
Bang for the buck Radford is cheaper than other four year colleges in virginia but they really do provide a quality experience and its well worth the money.
What to do for fun College is what you make of it so join a club or even start one. The more involved you are the better your college experience will be.
Food and Dining At First when you come to Radford you love the food and its amazing but soon you realize Dalton is not that great but the bonnie and the terrace shops are always good. I went to papa johns like once a day it was always so good.
Dorm Life There are dorms for every type of person if your more outgoing Muse is the place to be, however if your more laid back then main quad or honors housing should fit you perfectly.
Academic Rigor The classes are interesting and challenging sometimes you do get that one professor thats really boring but overall academically Radford is second to none.
Tips for prospective students If you want to be treated like a person in your classes and not just a number come to Radford. Also, don't take University 100 its a waste of time.
In three sentences Radford is a small campus but the people here are very welcoming. The academics are amazing and you will be challenged. There is always something going on so you will never get bored.

Categories Comments Campus Safety there have been several assaults this year and i am not sure if the police have figured out who it was.
Greek Life pretty popular, but not necessary to have a good time.
Clubs and Activities there is a very popular rugby and mens lacrosse club which provide for sporting events that radford lacks. Ru outdoors is a club that offers alot of events such as horseback riding, sky diving and hiking.
Great for these types of students outgoing, social and easy going
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Scottish festival on campus every year with a strongest man competition and a lot of food and music.
Bang for the buck I feel a little cheated sometimes because radford doesn't offer as much as bigger schools do, like football games, more interesting elective classes, and school spirit.
What to do for fun movies, river, park or camping. Christiansburg and blacksburg are not to far and they have nicer restaurants and shops.
Food and Dining Food is not good, at least in my and most of my friends opinions. Not very many healthy choices.
Dorm Life dry campus, not much to do on campus but dorms can get rowdy.
Academic Rigor Depends on major, sciences are hard, nursing is very difficult but mostly everything else is easy.
Tips for prospective students Bring a car, try to get a newer dorm, take only the classes you need to graduate.
In three sentences A medium sized school with a very diverse student body. Small town with not a lot to do other than party or play sports. A few good programs like bio, chem, nursing, design, and education.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The Radford police are great. Sometimes, people have to park in the lot, which is a bout a mile away from campus, late at night. If they get scared, they can simply call the Radford PD and they will pick you up at anytime to make sure you arrive safely. The Radford alert system is very thourough and it is almost impossible to not be notified when something goes wrong. It's safe here.
Greek Life Greek life is pretty big here, for a campus that isn't affiliated with them. You don't have to be perfect to get into a sorority or a fraternity, it's better to just be oneself and go with the flow.
Clubs and Activities It is very gay-friendly here, there's two clubs for people of any orientation, The straight-Gay alliance, and Spectrum. There's democratic clubs along with republican clubs, an outdoors clubs, and many more.
Great for these types of students Radford has some pretty good parties, it's easy to find one on a boring Saturday night. One shouldn't come here if they are inverted and not outgoing, you're basically forced to make friends because of how tight-nit the community is.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I've never seen a Hookah bar until I moved here, it's unusual but loads of fun. There's this thing, it's called Dalton dash. In one of the two food courts, dalton, there is a cafeteria. If one were to eat there, it typically tears up your stomach right after, which is where the dash comes in. You have to run to the bathroom and hope to make it in time.
Bang for the buck Radford is one of the cheapest Universities I have looked at, and is in a remotely cheap everywhere. It is definitely worth the money, about $20,000 a year including food, housing, and tuition. If there are any problems regarding financial aid, the office located in Heth will gladly help out.
What to do for fun There is a Sheesha lounge called Royal across the street from Muse, many off-campus places to eat, a bar, and the New River is fun to play in when it's warm outside. There's also Dedmon, which is surrounded by student parking, it has a huge indoor pool open to anyone.
Food and Dining There are a lot of places to eat on campus, including a cafeteria that is much like a Ryan's, Though the food is great, it is easy to get tired of the same things everyday. Austin Grill is disgusting.
Dorm Life I love living in a dorm. I live in Muse, which is a big building with thirteen floors. Every floor is like a community, it's amazing. It's extremely easy to create bonds with people that are only a few feet away. Ocassionally, the entire floor will go out to dinner with the RA.
Academic Rigor Lecture classes are typically the toughest. There are about 170 students or more in introductory classes, which doesn't make it easy on the professor to help the entire class understand the topic at hand. Core classes usually consist of about 20 students, and are very easy.
Tips for prospective students Get all of the core curriculum classes out of the way first. Concentration classes are very fun, but it's much easier to finish classes such as core and history beforehand. Don't be afraid to make friends, I haven't met a single mean person here yet, everyone loves everyone.
In three sentences Radford is a beautiful place to live. The campus is a perfect size, small enough to receive individual attention from professors, but large enough to get a great amount of exercise and make tons of friends. The professors honestly care about every student, and always have time to meet when there is a conflict.

Greek Life Greek life is a big part of Radford University.
Clubs and Activities There are a lot of clubs to choose from.
What to do for fun There are a lot of activities to do on campus, sports teams and clubs, the gyms are nice, and there is plenty of room on the quad to play around with friends.
Food and Dining The food is a negative, there aren't many options of food, especially healthy food. And the food in Dalton Hall is usually gross.
Dorm Life Living in the dorms can get a little crazy, especially on the weekends. It's pretty quiet most of the time though.
Academic Rigor The classes aren't too hard, but they definitely take study time.
Tips for prospective students It's a good school, you just have to have the correct mindset to do well. There are a lot of temptations, and you have to keep yourself in check.
In three sentences It's a nice school, the campus is really pretty. The people there are friendly, and the class sizes are really small which is nice. The only thing I don't care for at RU is the food.

Categories Comments In three sentences While it has a reputation for being a party school, it has steadily improved on its academic prowess in recent years. A small community ensures more personal interaction with professors. Great for those not looking for a large campus, but still want a prestigious degree.
