There is always something to do on weekends, between parties at the several apartment complexes that are within walking distance to campus or the bars that are relatively close-by. There is also a bus that takes students downtown to bars on Saturday nights. Other than the partying scene, I would say that clubs and sports are fun. There are also a lot of events on campus, so keep an eye out for those.

Join a club! There are so many. If that doesn't interest you, join a sports team or hang out with friends, people are always looking to hang out.

Student Government and the College Activities Board (CAB) host a plethora of events that you can attend for fun. The fraternities and sororities also host many events. There are parties to attend if that is your thing. There is a mall just down the road for all of the shopaholics. And town is about a 10-15 minute drive so there is plenty to do there. There are plenty of sporting events to attend. And the school hosts concerts and comedians throughout the year.

The thing I love most about RIT right here; there's always something to do. And there's something for everyone really. It's all about what you want to be involved in and how much time you're willing to dedicate. I started my first year in 4 different clubs including 2 martial arts, a sign language learning club, and a club for debating sports. On top of the vast number of clubs RIT provides, there are often events on campus, including the 3 big events a year. 2 of which include a popular artist coming and performing on campus, and the other is a comedian. Steve Aoki was the most recent concert here.

RIT has a lot of different activities to, if you like to be active the Gordon Field House has plenty of basketball courts, indoor pool with hot tub, whirl pool and sauna. There's also racket ball courts, the Red Barn has rock climbing, and for runners the loop around campus is a common route. Also, the College Activities Board (CAB) is always planning something, like Brick City Weekend, which is out homecoming weekend including many events with the biggest one being a hockey game in downtown Rochester. Freeze Fest is in the winter followed by Spring Fest, both give out free gear around campus just look for a nice long line.

There are lots of clubs, teams, and fraternities/sororities. Often the university or other groups will hold events such as Mud Tug or the Yule Ball. I'm never bored and often won't go home on weekends due to fear of missing out.

You should sign up for many clubs during the club fair and then only pick a couple to stick with throughout the year. Club and Intramural sports are a great way to make friends during your first semester of college. I would suggest signing up for something that you have never had the courage to try before because I did this and found something that I absolutely love to do now: play rugby! Another good thing to do when you have time is go to some of the events that RIT hosts like movie nights, or shows with hypnotists or magicians. Also, you should attend at least one of the hockey games; they are really exciting to watch and a great experience to spend with your friends.
