Part of being a Software Engineering major means spending a year with Computer Science students learning the basics of computer programming. When I first came to RIT, I knew nothing about writing code but the classes challenged and taught me well and now I feel that I am fully prepared to begin my major. RIT does a good job of preparing you for the classes that matter. You'll be able to get your math, liberal arts and sciences out of the way early so that you can get to the good stuff and excel in your major!

RIT is a very prestigious institute with a lot to offer. The most well-known majors on campus are engineering and computer-related majors, but other programs are growing. School spirit could be higher, but a lot of people are fans of the Division 1 hockey team.

Great campus with lots of events and clubs. The people are not very social. The professors know a lot just not extremely good at getting the material to the students

RIT is a fantastic School! We are a co-op school so our job placement is around 90% for all majors! I highly recommend it.

An amazing school with amazing programs for all types of people. The school is geared toward practicality and making sure you have the skills that you need to succeed. It has a great reputation for academics but unless you're really into hockey or lacrosse the sports programs here are not top notch teams so this is not the school for you if you are looking for a sports oriented school.

I love RIT in the beginning and ending weeks of the year because it's a great enviroment, in terms of people and things to do, and the campus can be really beautiful. Other time of year however, like once the sun dissapears for a couple months, things aren't as exciting. But if you can manage to stay out of the cold you'll have a good time in and out of class.

While the courses are challenging, the professors are there for their students every step of the way. The most valuable part of RIT is the necessary co-op education before graduation. Because I had to have real world experience before graduation I now feel way more confident for applying for jobs after graduation.

Fantastic school with tons of opportunities to try new things: for example I'm learning sign language and how to ballroom dance. It's a big school with all the big school benefits, yet feels small due to strong community. Weather sucks, it is usually cold and wet.

I am a mechanical engineer at Rochester Institute of Technology, and the professors for my major are incredibly clear and helpful both inside and outside of class. The classes I took my first semester where not at all overwhelming, and the workload was do-able. If you are ever confused about enrolling for classes, or future housing options, or anything at all, visit your major's office and ask for help because they can solve any problems you encounter.
