Categories Comments Great for these types of students If you're not into a huge school but you're afraid of a small school, Rowan is perfect for you. Because Rowan is a Division 3 college and has only about 10,000 students it is easy to get involved and play sports competitively or just for fun. It has a great Education Program if you are interested in that. Around campus there is also a good social life with a variety of people.
Tips for prospective students Rowan may seem like a small school, too close to home, or not located in a good area. Those are the reasons I did not visit at first. But after visiting a friend there, I immediately fell in love with the school, its welcoming atmosphere and everything about it. Don't let misconceptions or ideas hold you back from visiting Rowan. It's definitely making a lot of positive changes to expand the campus. Not everyone goes home on the weekends - a lot of people stay!
Bang for the buck Every college is expensive in this economy but Rowan's tuition is great compared to most universities. They have also reached out and offered many loan options for me.
Am enjoying being here At first I attended University of Delaware where I did not feel comfortable at all. After I came to Rowan in the Spring 2009, I immediately felt welcome and accpeted on the medium size campus. I loved my housing assignment and location of it. During my time here I am making many friends and having a lot of fun.
Am learning a lot Not only have I learned a lot academically from my teachers and peers, I have learned a lot about myself. Rowan has provided me with great teachers who enjoy teaching their class and always are there for extra help!

Categories Comments Bang for the buck The courses and professors are really worth the tuition. And some of the professors have had their fame. My professor for Journalism Principles and Practices wrote the text books and has appeared on many news television programs. Also all the professors i have taken are always willing to help each and every student.
Am enjoying being here I love being at Rowan. The campus is pretty big but there are some great buildings and services. The social life is great and weekend activities are never in short supply thanks to Rowan After Hours. The cafeteria has a great selection. The dorms are really great as well. My freshman dorm was pretty big and i made tons of friends just in my hallway.
Am learning a lot I am a Broadcast Journalism major but I have taken a few classes outside of the major for requirements and have loved them. This past semester i took Meteorology not just because I needed to fulfill a science requirement but because I am very interested in the nature and weather of our planet. I am learning so much at Rowan that will help me in the future and the real world.

Am enjoying being here the campus is great but sometimes its not so great campus security does not do their job
Am learning a lot You learn alot but alot of professors are adjuncts so most of the time they do not know the material you have to learn it on your own

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Passionate, Creative, and that want practical experience in their field.
Tips for prospective students Like any college, go the tour and ask at lest 4 students what they think about the school. At Rowan though you are welcomed to email, call and arrange a visit to meet any professor or department chair and ask them any questions you may have or your parents may have about the school.
Bang for the buck Simply the amount of individual attention you have here from professors is incredible. The University could improve some of the theatre facilities. But the price is great.
Am enjoying being here It might sound crazy, but an University with 10,000 students couldn't be more intimate than Rowan. From the friendly professors to an openminded campus of friends. Every student makes strong bonds here.
Am learning a lot I'm a double major in Theatre Arts and Fine Arts. I couldn't be happier. I have Professors that are available everyday anytime to talk about anything I need to talk about. The Professors are very passionate and talented in what they do and are more than willing to share their experiences with us. There is also a great deal of support available and opportunity, no matter what year you are in. As a Freshman I was able to design one student production already. There is not barrier for you to succeed. The philosophy of most professors in my particular area is that one can only learn by living it. Thus from the first year and beyond, students are immersed in the Main Stage Productions and learn on the job. This is great for us because it helps us discover our practical strengths and weakness as well as it shows us how to apply techniques taught in theory. I been learning a lot from my professors. Another wonderful thing is the learning that happens among peers. Because of our program size we develop close relationships with our peers. This friendly intermingling of Juniors and Seniors with Freshman and Sophomores allows for a mutual exchange of knowledge that develops strong professionals after 4 years.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Theater Arts
Tips for prospective students Contact the head of the department - they are always looking to answer questions and love helping interested students with anything they need
Bang for the buck I live out of state and I'm paying less than I would if I went to a school in the state I am from.
Am learning a lot I am a Junior Theatre Design Major at Rowan. I love it so much! I am from MA and passed up NY theater school because I feel Rowan has one of the best programs. All there teachers are currently working in and around the Philadelphia area and some even in New York City. They are always getting us professional jobs and know how to live a successful theater life. There are so many opportunities for students to work in their field of choice. You don't have to wait until your are an upperclassmen like most schools. As a freshmen I was already assisting the designer with the painting of the sets and working in the student run Lab Theatre as a designer and stage manager. Also the theater department at Rowan is a big family. Everyone knows everyone and are instant friends. When you graduate from Rowan as a Theater Major you leave well rounded and prepared to do anything in the theater world. Other theater programs do not do this for you. If you are looking for a great program Rowan has it. And if you ever want more information students are always excited to talk about the program and hand out their contact information like candy. Apply! You will not regret it.

Bang for the buck I plan to commute and that hacks off$10000 off the tuition right there!
Will enjoy being here My boyfriend goes to Rowan and he loves it! I visited there and he took me on a tour and i fell in love with the campus and all it has to offer!
Will learn a lot I'm excited to see what Rowan's classes have to offer within my major of education. My boyfriend loves his classes and professors. He says they are really approachable! He is a GIS major.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Glassboro, NJ does not have a good reputation if you did not know, although it is so safe with many programs. We have our own police force which are known as Robo Cops, Rowan Help Hotline, Glassboro Police who protect the borders of Rowan from the nearby Glassboro High school directly across 322 and many assistance boxes located every 100 feet in case of an emergency!
Greek Life We have Greek life at Rowan. Many fraternities include: Pi Kappa Alpha, Phi Kappa Psi, Alpha Chi Rho, Alpha Phi Omega, Sigma Pi, FIJI, TKE and DKE who are off-campus. The sororities are: Alpha Epsilon Phi, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Delta Phi Epsilon and Theta Phi Alpha. They were letters and hold many campus-wide events.
Clubs and Activities I cannot even begin to explain clubs at Rowan. There are probably about 500 clubs here that are on campus and commute to many different places. Anyone can even start their own club with 4 people or bring a new sorority or fraternity on campus with an easy application!
Great for these types of students Rowan University is great for people that embrace diversity. You learn os much from other people here at Rowan and it is necessary to find out who you truly are. Although if you consider yourself a typeof person, Rowan appeals to cultural-based people, religious people, partiers, non-drinkers, athletes and basically anyone who has a passion for something, music, singing etc.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a beautiful bridge located near the new engineer building great for if you need a get away.
Bang for the buck This school has so much to offer we are constantly adding new programs, the advisers have so many connections and overall the campus is just something you learn to love.
What to do for fun Join a club, make a band, go out on the weekend and be safe, make friends. There is a college shopping center off of Delsea Dr. and Main St. (2 streets you'll know well) and Landmark is a great loacl bar and grill directly across from the campus that is very popular and a Wawa on the corner, if you're an east coaster this is essential.
Food and Dining Food is amazing at Rowan. There are many places within academic halls to eat, a food court on the bottom level of the student center. There is an amazing coffee place in the pit called Jazzman that accepts meal plans (unlimited coffee is amazing). There are four places on the first level to eat: Profs, which is deli and grill sandwiches,
Dorm Life Dorm life can be rough at times but you need to get along with the roommate you have a small space with a desk, closet, dresser and a bed frame (that is really high unless you get a guy to adjust it)
Academic Rigor Rowan, for me, the classes are not super hard because I put my all into each class. You may have a hard time as a bio or engineer though many professors do not speak English very well.
Tips for prospective students Students should get involved on Campus. There are many programs that are student run here at Rowan including SUP, Student University Programmers, and RAH, Rowan After Hours. They are for all students and appeal mainly to those that do not go out on the weekend and party. Many people are friendly and are easy to approach so do not be afraid to ask for help when you need it!
In three sentences Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey is a diverse college that is full of opportunities for students that desire a better education. It offers over 200 programs for different majors and connections that will last a lifetime. Student Life appeals to anyone and everyone that has a passion for something and no one is left out.

Tips for prospective students Just go to the campus and check it out talk to the students walking around. Just engage in the activities on campus you will not want to leave.
Bang for the buck Yes absolutely! The gym is amazing and gigantic, the food is delicious tons to choose from, and the resources given are all there to make your life on campus so much easier.
Will enjoy being here I can't wait to try everything at the Rowan, the clubs and all the activities funded by my peers at Rowan.
Will learn a lot I am looking forward to the experience at the university so far the teachers and students have helped me so much transferring.

Categories Comments Campus Safety we have blue lights all over campus and you can see at least 2 from every one you are next to. if you are in trouble you can press the button on a blue light and you will be helped quickly
Clubs and Activities there are so many clubs and activities and if you can not find any clubs you like, you can create a new club.
Great for these types of students all types of students.
Bang for the buck the school is pretty cheap compared to other schools and has a lot to offer.
What to do for fun rah and sup events can be very fun. on saturdays you can go into philly for free or you can hang around glassboro. there is also a mall about 20 minutes away if you know anyone with a car, and there is a mini strip-mall about a 10 minute walk away where you can get your nails done, go tanning, get food, etc.
Food and Dining there is all different types of food which taste like jersey food. there are 4 main places to get food and each offers different types of food such as wraps, sandwiches, pasta, pizza, salad, tacos, pancakes, bagels, cheese-steaks and more.
Dorm Life the rooms are not the largest but the communities in the halls are great.
Academic Rigor some classes can be hard and others are easy. it all depends on the teachers and classes you take.
Tips for prospective students look up teachers before you add classes to make sure the teachers you get are ones you will like. it is also a good idea to get most books from amazon, half, and current students.
In three sentences the school is great. everyone wants to help you with all different types of academic work. also, there is something for everyone.

Categories Comments Food and Dining it's centrally located in the student center which makes it easy to find. could use some improvement in variety.
Dorm Life dorms are so great. in comparison to a lot of universities, especially large ones, our dorming facilities are really top notch.
Academic Rigor do your work, and you'll do well.
Tips for prospective students definitely look into your major and make sure it's right for you. there are many resources through the school and the website that will help you determine this. get familiar with campus and with on campus services that you can use to your advantage.
In three sentences great public university with many opportunities and great location near philadelphia. small, but wonderful campus that is easy to navigate. helpful faculty at your disposal to use to your advantage.

Categories Comments Campus Safety one of the best public safety departments in the country. we have nationally accredited police, active and vigilant security officers, and a 24/7 coverage, student run emergency medical service boasting two bls ambulances and nj state licensed emts to staff them.
Greek Life has been in decline due to increased police patrol and crackdowns on parties.
Clubs and Activities there are a lot of clubs on campus and easy ways to get started with new ones.
Great for these types of students suburban-minded easily entertained academically inclined
Bang for the buck considering the advanced technology and equipment on campus, i could not get a better deal at any other institution than rowan offers.
What to do for fun glassboro is pretty dull (until you turn 21 and can go to landmark), but the student university programmers have a shuttle bus into philadelphia every friday night, and there are other off-campus trips, things to do on-campus, and certainly lots of clubs to get involved with.
Food and Dining the food leaves plenty to be desired, but it is tolerable and can be supplemented by one of the many restaurants in the area.
Dorm Life i for one have found dorm life to be very exciting and one of the best parts of rowan life. while it can get a little loud on weekends, i wouldn't trade the friendships formed in the dorms for anything.
Academic Rigor in the engineering program for sure and in other majors too there is certainly no shortage of work. while some majors may not have the strictest requirements, students in those departments can definitely make the curriculum as challenging as they like by choosing electives over and above what is the bare minimum.
Tips for prospective students be sure to get your applications in on time and be sure submit sat and act scores. there are set guidelines for academic scholarships that you might just fit into without knowing it.
In three sentences rowan is a great school for all types: both those with a firm idea about what they want and those looking for something to become passionate about. there is definitely plenty to look forward to for anyone who chooses to attend. i wouldn't transfer out for anything.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Aside from a few incidents in Rowan's history, the Rowan Police patrol regularly and there are many emergency buttons around campus to get you into contact with public safety should anything come up.
Clubs and Activities Clubs are very active in recruiting and making their causes known around campus. I'm a part of an environmentally based club that and there are clubs for young republicans (and democrats of course) as well as for political science, sociology, science fiction, and everything in between.
Great for these types of students Rowan is great for laid back or eccentric students who want to work and be able to have fun each week to unwind after a week of classes.
What to do for fun there are plenty of parties going on each week, and plenty of places around like movie theaters and bowling alley's. There are also plenty of activities hosted by Rowan such as trips to to New York or Philadelphia on the weekends as well as interesting activities such as casino night hosted by Rowan as well.
Food and Dining The atmosphere in the dining areas is very laid back and the food is decent but not the greatest.
Dorm Life Friends are easy to come by and the majority of students seem very helpful. I'm not big on parties but they can be found around campus as can study groups when it comes to finals week. Students generally respect each other follow the quiet hour rules come nightfall or finals week.
Academic Rigor It all depends on your major, music and engineering majors seem to be busy around the clock but psychology majors seem to have it relatively easy. The courses for me seem to be fairly rigorous.
Tips for prospective students A good tip would be to keep your head straight and not let parties take over what you do each week, attending college is for the degree not the parties that happen each week.
In three sentences Rowan is a great place with an active nightlife and professors who care. The campus is a good size, not too big and not too small, and is surrounded by many different kinds of stores in the Glassboro area.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is extremely safe. There is constant student patrol, Rowan Security and Rowan Police as well Glassboro Police. On campus you are always able to see a blue light which has a button able to be pushed in case of an emergency. Most buildings require your ID card or a key in order to get in as well.
Greek Life There is a strong Greek Life. Not everyone is involved but for people who want to be involved there are numerous Sororities and Fraternities to choose from. They do a good amount of community service but also know how to have fun.
Clubs and Activities There are hundreds of clubs on campus. There is literally something for everyone. Clubs range from musical theatre to video games to sports teams as well as honors and academic clubs.
Great for these types of students Rowan is great for students who prefer to know their professors and teachers. The class sizes are similar to high school class sizes. The campus is not very large but there are extreme opportunities for fun and adventure. Students are mainly from the east coast but there is a lot of diversity as well. Rowan is great for people who are excited about their future and want to take the right steps in obtaining their goals.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus One hidden location on campus is a lake behind the new engineering building. It is in the middle of the woods as well but it is a beautiful location that not a lot of people know about. There are also so many places to run and play outside.
Bang for the buck A lot is provided for you with your tuition. There are numerous opportunities to have fun, meet people, learn a lot and have an amazing college experience. However, most of that falls of the individual. You have to be willing to work and willing to have fun!
What to do for fun There are many on-campus and off-campus events and locations for fun. Rowan After Hours is a program that is held every Thursday, Friday and Saturday that has free activities, giveaways and food. There are constant shows and entertainment venues. There is also plenty of opportunity for organized sports and games. Off-Campus there are close by bowling allies, malls and for when age appropriate restaurants, bars and clubs. Constant trips and adventures are available as well a free or very cheap for students of the university.
Food and Dining The food is pretty good! There are many options to choose from ranging from a grill, to a salad bar, a sandwich station and a cereal bar. Your meal plan also gives money for selected off campus locations such as salad works, subway, mcdonalds, dounkin doughnuts and many more!
Dorm Life The dorms are very livable and they get better as you get older. You may have an awesome roommate you may have one that you don't get along with. However, you will find friends that make your experience great. Freshmen dorms are a bit small but there are many different kinds of rooms and styles of living. I promise it will be a great experience and one you will learn from as well.
Academic Rigor The classes vary in difficulty. When you are finally able to, take classes that you will be interested in. It really is a privilege to be able to take classes that cater to your interests so take advantage of them. Use the library and study time when needed but also just pay attention and participate in call. That is the best way to understand the material and do well when it comes to essays, projects, and exams.
Tips for prospective students Be open and willing to try new things and meet new people! There is so much more to college than partying. Meeting people is extremely rewarding and there are so many chances to meet people who will be helpful to you in your future. Love what you are doing because if you don't in the end it won't be worth it.
In three sentences A school of diverse people, majors and professors. A school with vast opportunities to get involved in interesting clubs and clubs that help make differences on campus and in the community. A safe environment to meet amazing people with the prospects of becoming someone great.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck I pay around 10K a year as a commuting student. For the amount I get enough bang for my buck. Advising is very helpful and almost always solves my problems. Other places I want to try out like the gym and fields. I used to pay 60K at Drexel, so coming from there this is a great deal.
What to do for fun Personally, I am a brother of AXP, so my social life is great with those guys. If you don't want to go Greek, then there are a few clubs and sports to try out.
Food and Dining I went to the dining hall twice and didn't really have a problem with it. I just would rather bring my own food.
Dorm Life I am a commuter so I don't live there, but I checked out one of the dorms and I can't help but to think: prison cells.
Academic Rigor Higher level courses are very difficult, but you won't really see the rigor until your junior year. Everything else is cake unless you really don't go to class and/or slack.
Tips for prospective students If you don't procrastinate (which I did up until this year), then the year will be smooth and you will finish without pressure. Join a club, sport, or go Greek to make the social quota everyone wants. Believe me, there's a group for everyone there. GET OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE! Every time I have, I meet great people and have a good time.
In three sentences Rowan has a great science program for the price of in-state schooling. There's a great balance between social and academic atmospheres so after partying on the weekends you are ready to get working with professors that will take extra time to fulfill the students' needs. After completing my first time as a transfer student, Rowan was a great experience for what I put into it.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Safest place in town!
Bang for the buck College is college. You pay for what you get. Tuition costs are rising all the time, but Rowan still manages to make it count. If you notice a rise in tuition, you'll likely also notice improvements and additions on campus.
What to do for fun At Rowan, we know how to work and play. On the weekends, the students like to get down and party. However, if partying isn't for you, We have great activities on campus such as Rowan After Hours. On the weekends, Rowan After Hours often brings in celebrity guests such as Craig Robinson and All-American Rejects for entertainment and takes evening trips to nearby Philadelphia.
Food and Dining Dining at Rowan isn't all that great, but it gets the job done. There aren't many places to eat on campus, but with the addition of Rowan Boulevard, more restaurants are soon to come!
Dorm Life Dorm life at Rowan is great, and it's getting even better with the addition of Rowan Boulevard. The new community houses the Whitney Center and Rowan Boulevard Apartments, which both support deluxe upperclassmen housing.
Academic Rigor We have great programs to offer like our engineering program, which is one of the best in the country. With the exceptional status of our programs, quality is expected.
Tips for prospective students If you're someone who is fun and energetic, then come to Rowan, even just for a visit. If you're serious about academic, but like having fun, then Rowan is the place for you.
In three sentences Rowan is in my opinion is one of the best undergraduate schools in New Jersey. We have great academic programs like our top tiered engineering program, and we have a great array of campus life and opportunity. Life at Rowan makes it easy to work hard and play hard.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Safety is a concern on any college campus, and at Rowan, it's no different. There have been a few incidents where the campus PD has investigated, and yet Rowan is a safe and quiet school. Again, best and safest dorms are the newer dorms at Rowan Boulevard. If you can get housing there, you're in the safest dorms in which you can live.
Clubs and Activities Check out all the clubs on campus on the website! http://www.rowan.edu
Great for these types of students Rowan's great for students who are looking to find themselves and what they want from their future. The relatively small campus and student body gives the school a really close-knit community feel, where people do for one another.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a HUGE family visit weekend shortly after settling in where Rowan faculty invites student's parents and siblings. Football and soccer games, along with cook-outs, picnic, demonstrations of all sorts was really impressive to my parents.
Bang for the buck Being a state school, in-state tuition is reasonable and you definitely get as good, if not better, education for the money than bigger named schools. Exceptional room and board, and small school feel leaves the student feeling she matters and the school cares.
What to do for fun Student activities are the best! There are activities planned by faculty and the student body to encourage persons to stay on campus and safe! Rowan also sponsors several guest speakers and events, along with local entertainment in terms of theaters, Atlantic City and the Jersey Shore!
Food and Dining One's never far from getting a meal! Food court style meals cover almost any cuisine you might crave. And if you want a quick bite, there are several cafes and shops for subs and salads. Boro Bucks (the equivalent of cash to use in the community) are accepted nearly everywhere in the immediate area, so one can eat at a local pizza or burger joint.
Dorm Life If you can afford it, housing on Rowan Boulevard is best. The immediate area is well lit and patrolled by campus police. Dorms are newer as well, and each individual dorm is electronic lock secure, meaning you have to swipe to get in; no card, no entry,
Academic Rigor Classes and professors challenge students to do their very best. Professors and TAs are approachable and help if you simply ask! Tutoring available for those who need as well.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to walk! No freshman car permission, so be prepared to travel by foot (or shuttle) to and from class. No problem, though; campus is relatively small and accessible. Be aware of your surroundings to be safe, but campus is very safe and patrolled regularly.
In three sentences Transferred to Rowan from Kean, and glad I did! Campus is beautiful and professors are top-notch! Couldn't be happier with my move to Rowan!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Great for anyone who wants a genuine college experience without being too far from home.
Tips for prospective students Scholarships are a must. Apply early and apply often. If you have questions about loans or grants, talk to the financial aid office. They are very helpful.
Bang for the buck You learn a lot for the money you are paying for tuition, and depending on what dorm you decide to live in, the housing is valuable as well.
Am enjoying being here Rowan has a friendly atmosphere, and there are literally dozens of activities going on around campus to help you meet new people with similar interests,
Am learning a lot I transferred to Rowan from a small community college, and the difference in classes is astounding. I have been enrolled for a little over a month and I've learned so much already.

Bang for the buck I think a Rowan University Education is definitely worth the cost!!!
Am enjoying being here I love being at Rowan during the day. I meet new people everyday and accomplish so much while I'm there.
Am learning a lot I am really astonished that I have been able to apply what I have learned in school to what I do in everyday life.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Almost every Friday night at 7 there is a bus to South Street in Philadelphia. Rowan also has Greek events. Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights Rowan holds Rowan After Hours with different games, activities and performances each night and a midnight snack bar.
Food and Dining Like most colleges, the food is not bad but it gets monotonous after a while.
Dorm Life There are many buildings specifically for Freshman. It is a generally friendly environment. If anything is wrong, your RA is willing to help you.
Academic Rigor The difficulty of classes depends on which classes you take and what professors you get. Many of the professors expect that you do your work and do not check homework. If you don't do your work it will inevitably reflect that on the test.
Tips for prospective students Don't worry about making friends too quickly. You will find the group or groups of people you fit best with eventually, even if it takes months. Also, don't feel pressured to do anything you don't want to do.
In three sentences Rowan University is a medium-sized campus with many commuters. Class sizes are usually under 30 people, keeping the students accountable and going to class. Rowan's atmosphere is that of a small college town, only 20 minutes from Philadelphia.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Rowan is so safe, there's blue lights everywhere and you can call security from your cell.
Bang for the buck Rowan is turning into an ivy league quality school, but still for the price of a state school.
What to do for fun Rowan has an after hours program, so there's things to doo on weekends. And there's always someone hanging out anywhere on campus.
Food and Dining The bright side of Rowan's bad food is that you'll lose weight because you won't ever want to eat there. :)
Dorm Life The RA's are awesome and put together programs at least once a month for their residence. It's a great way to meet new people.
Academic Rigor The classes aren't too hard, especially for non-science majors, but even as a tech major, you'll have a lot of free time.
Tips for prospective students Rowan has an extensive email notification program, you don't have to sign up for it, especially if you're not 100% sure yet.
In three sentences This is a really good school for everyone- it has a variety of different programs. The state school price really gives you a lot, especially since they're expanding all the time.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus appears to be safe, but if you put yourself in a bad situation, don't expect the school to save you.
Greek Life The frats and sororities get busted all of the time and run out of alcohol early. Many people wind up jumping from frat to frat in one night, and they pay to get in everywhere.
Clubs and Activities Rowan has great sports teams.
Great for these types of students If you like to party, get roofied, or do drugs, this is the school for you.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There's a trail called the rape trail. That should say it all.
Bang for the buck You will get an education if you're there too, but you could go elsewhere for the same education.
What to do for fun Although a lot of people are involved in varsity sports and extracurricular activities, there are also a lot of druggies and people just hanging out. The weekends are all parties.
Food and Dining The cafeteria food may taste fine, but it hurts everyones stomachs. Everyones.
Dorm Life There's mold growing in all of the older buildings and the newer buildings are super expensive, but very nice. Most of the dorms are musty and mildewy, the walls are thin, and if you're a light sleeper don't plan on falling asleep before 2am - there are parties everynight.
Academic Rigor Rowan has great academics if you get into an established program. However, the science program has too many students in it. They don't have enough class space for everyone.
Tips for prospective students Make copies of everything you give the school. Especially financial aid and admissions.
In three sentences Although Rowan is trying to become a major university that represents the state of New Jersey, the administration at the school is poor. They refuse to go paperless, refuse to do anything electronic, and they lose paperwork and take forever to do anything.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Plenty of Rowan Cops around as well as campus patrol.
Greek Life There are many fraternities and sororities on campus. They are more involved on campus than any sports team or club. They contribute to fundraising, community service and to Homecoming.
What to do for fun Greek life is always throwing parties as well as the Football, Soccer, and Baseball teams off campus. There is also a few local bars and the Rec Center has events every weekend. There are a few basketball courts, volleyball, pool and gym as well.
Food and Dining The cafeteria is great and there are many different options for food to choose from.
Dorm Life I say 3 stars because some of the buildings are old and have no air or heat but there are brand new dorms and town houses for upperclassmen that are equivalent to hotels.
Academic Rigor Classes can be hard. Biology is rough but there are always easier classes and easier teachers you can take, just use ratemyprofessor.com
Tips for prospective students Get involved on and off campus, Greek life is the biggest part of Rowan but yet they still try to smother it. Some majors have advisers that are never available so your schedule can be messed up if you do not know what you are doing. The sports teams do not have a large fan base because they are D3. The Greek life is bigger than the sporting teams.
In three sentences Rowan is a small school that is very strict off campus. Their academic difficulty depends on your major itself. The school is not very sports inclined.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are call boxes and blue safety lights everywhere. Public Safety and Rowan Police are always roaming the campus.
Great for these types of students Students who want to feel at home when they are away from home will feel comfortable here. It's suburban and there is a major for everyone.
Bang for the buck Even though the tuition is rising, Rowan is sure to make sure they are giving you everything you're giving them.
What to do for fun You can catch free shuttles to Philly almost every Friday. Thursday-Saturday nights until Midnight they have something called RAH (Rowan After Hours) and it is filled with fun activities and sometimes even famous comedians.
Food and Dining It's getting better, but there is minimal variety in food here. I'm anxious to see what they do to change it. What they do have is delicious though.
Dorm Life It's really nice, even the freshman dorms are nice. You're independent aside from a roommate or two and the rooms are the biggest I've seen. When you become an upperclassmen, there are tons more on campus options for where to live
Academic Rigor They are great about academic achievement here. They expect the best of you and help you get there if they know you aren't there yet.
Tips for prospective students Definitely make sure you ask to see all areas of the campus that may interest you. I didn't see some on my tour, and almost did not attend because of it.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Never a thing to worry about while walking the campus of Rowan. I firmly believe in the buddy program. We have our phones and there are plenty of emergency phones throughout the campus
Greek Life This year I did not participate in the fraternity. I have friends that pledged . It is not something that I am interested in.
Clubs and Activities Sports are division 3. Great teams. I did not get involved this year in any clubs. There are of course fraternity/sorority clubs.
Great for these types of students I think Rowan is a good fit for anyone.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Loved the outside activities in good weather. There was always something going one. Frisbee in the fields!

Food and Dining Rowan has awesome food. I really never felt deprived. Great variety to choose from. In addition there is also places within walking distance to get a change.
Dorm Life Well this is a matter of opinion. I stayed in a :suite situation my freshman year. 3 rooms 6 people share one bathroom. It wasn't easy. I am looking forward to my sophomore housing!
Academic Rigor I believe that you develop your own rigor while attending college. You know where to put your rigor in and what classes you can take it off.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to work hard to achieve your goals. Rowan has a great reputation and students generally stay and finish their education here.
In three sentences I would highly recommend Rowan University. Campus has a great flow, students and staff are welcoming and friendly. Education is superb.

Food and Dining Awesome Italian food place with unlimited uses on meal plan, cafe is great, and lots of choices in the downstairs area.
Dorm Life Not bad, but off-campus housing is sometimes hard to get.
Academic Rigor Teachers actually care about how you do and try to work with you.
Tips for prospective students Greek life is small, but try to go for it since you'll meet a large amount of people through it. Unlimited meal plan is really awesome.

Greek Life Being as though Rowan university is so diverse yo9u have a choice of many organizations to choose from
Clubs and Activities Rowan offers over 150 club and if you do not fit into any you can make your own!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety is alright. The campus itself isn't bad, it's more the areas around the campus that are the problem. Lighting and security has increased since the 2007 off-campus killing of student Donnie Farrel. From what I've seen, the Rowan police are generally pretty fair. Glassboro cops love to break student's balls. Have never heard one solitary reedeming thing about them. The town of Glassboro loves to drain student's pockets as much as they can through fines. Their is also Rowan Security, who are basically rent-a-cops.
Greek Life In my opinion, Greek Life has seen a huge decrease in appeal as Rowan and Glassboro have together been cracking down hard on the night life. However, as far as frats go, their are a number of choices depending on what you're into and what clique you fit with.
Clubs and Activities Theirs something for everyone here if you're willing to get involved.
Bang for the buck So-so. Tuition is increasingly expensive for in most cases, an average education, and the school's spending is far from transparent.
Food and Dining Landmark is the local college bar. Their's ton of fast food within a 5 minute drive. Other than that, you won't find your big school bar-scene feel.
Dorm Life Dorm life, like anywhere, is what you make of it. You'll be lucky to get a good living situation with a good roomate and floormates.
Academic Rigor Just ok. I feel I could have been challenged farther other places. Then again, it's also how much effort and proactiveness you put into your education.
Tips for prospective students College is what you make of it. Wherever you go, try something new, get out of your comfort zone. You never know who you may cross paths with your first few days randomly, and end up being best friends over the next 4 years.
In three sentences Growing school, increasingly expensive, lots of majors and decent mix of people.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There was always an option for someone to walk home with me after a night class if I felt that I needed it. Every night there is a shuttle that comes through campus.
Greek Life not very interested, personally.
Clubs and Activities There is something for everyone
Bang for the buck I am putting myself through school so I am so happy to hear this. I was not very happy with the cost of on campus living. It was very over priced and the condition of things was not very good in the TRIAD complex. I have experienced professors not being very involved and I just made it a point to mention to the department that I felt as if I did not get what I paid for. They were somewhat helpful.
What to do for fun There is something for everyone. It depends on your group. It is awesome that Philadelphia is only a short drive from campus.
Food and Dining The food is cooked fresh and always delicious. The only negative would be the hours. They don't seem to be opened sometimes when you want food.
Dorm Life I was only on campus for my junior year but it was a great experience and I wish I could have been there during my freshman and sophomore years. I have heard nothing but great things!
Academic Rigor If you feel as if your professors are not challenging you enouch then take the extra initiative to learn something for yourself. This is your money and your time. Make sure that you are in school for the education, not for the degree.
Tips for prospective students It is not a large school and the local town does not have a lot to do in your free time. Get invovled in extra curriculars and be involved in your classes. School doesn't stop outside of the classroom.
In three sentences It has great professors. An involved student body. The students are friendly.

Categories Comments Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus In front of one of the freshman dorm buildings, Magnolia Hall, there is actually a very large gazebo. It's a great place for friends to hang out and study, and some people actually take their guitar out there and share their talents.
Bang for the buck Rowan is pretty cheap, in comparison to larger schools. Personally, it was a lot to pay for me to live on campus, and I'm currently deciding if I would like to commute next semester. Like I said, there are a lot of events on campus, most that are free (are included in tuition) so that adds a little incentive. Overall, it is not breaking the bank to go to Rowan University, and it is a great experience as well.
What to do for fun At Rowan, there are a million and one things to do on any given day. Every day in your e-mail you get the Rowan Daily Mail, which has information from club meetings to sporting event times. You can honestly find something to do every day and have fun. The problem is trying to fit it all in! And a huge plus is that many events have food, free food! Most of it is better than what you get with the meal plan, so enjoy it.
Food and Dining The food is not that great. Most of it is extremely unhealthy, and the meal plans are expensive (and mandatory if you live on campus). If you can handle cheese steaks and hamburgers every day, and pretty horrible chef meals, then go ahead and get the meal plan. If your living on campus, make the most out of your meals and try to add some variety in the buffet style marketplace!
Dorm Life The dorm life at Rowan is pretty standard. Small rooms for freshman with white walls and no air conditioning. However, don't let that get you down. It doesn't matter where or how you have to live, you will certainly meet some wonderful people at Rowan and have a great experience.
Academic Rigor The academic rigor varies from class to class. Some classes will come easy to you and then you may have classes that do not. Professors teach in very different ways and that is also a factor involved. Personally, I do not feel like any of my classes are difficult in content. There is, however, a lot that needs to be done. Many chapters need to be read, many labs to do, and many papers to write.
Tips for prospective students I would definitely research different schools with different atmospheres to make sure that this is the one that fits you best.
In three sentences Rowan University is a great school for the student that enjoys small classrooms and making personal connections with their professors. It has a close-to-home feel that makes the transition into independence significantly easier. It is a wonderful place to plant yourself for 4, 5, maybe even 6 years, whatever it takes to get that degree!

Dorm Life Everyone is really nice and you can make friends so easily here. As long as you respect others then you should be making friends with no problems
Academic Rigor Classes are small but it is like any other college that the workload is doable as long as you are focus.
Tips for prospective students Make sure that you do all the reading and do the homework. Study at least every night because you will never know when a pop quiz will show up.
In three sentences Rowan university is very peaceful town where you can do a lot here with your friends. The teachers here care about whether you do good in the class. Everyone here is very supportive and wants you to success in life.

Dorm Life Besides the fact that there is no air conditioner, the dorms are pretty nice.
Tips for prospective students My suggestion is to always get out and meet new people.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Rowan's Campus Security is comprised of fully trained State Troopers. They do an excellent job keeping campus safe and there is never any reason to be nervous around here.
Greek Life As a member of Greek Life I can tell you that it does not get a good rap prima facie, but when you delve below the surface you find an environment of close bonds and networking opportunities for the future. I am a member of Sigma Pi, but I encourage everyone to join Greek Life regardless of which fraternity or sorority.
Clubs and Activities There are clubs for every major imaginable here. They offer ways to excel in your desired field and they offer fun events to attend. Activities are usually hosted by Rowan After Hours (R.A.H.). R.A.H creates weekly events to explore social opportunities.
Bang for the buck Like mentioned earlier, Rowan is a New Jersey State school, populated by primarily New Jersey Residents. If you are a New Jersey native then Rowan gives a lot of Bang for the buck. Tuition, room and board, and supplies are all manageable. The opportunities are endless, and you can always find some way to get involved.
What to do for fun It all depends on what you think is fun. Rowan offers trips to New York City, sporting events, concerts, and more, all at unbelievably discounted prices. If you are not much of a traveler there is always Greek Life. If you are somewhere in between there are bowling alleys and movie theaters very close by.
Food and Dining The food and dining is on par with most other schools; however, Rowan is working their way to the top. In the past few months two new restaurants have opened. One is a grass-fed burger joint and the other is a tofu bonanza filled with plenty vegetarian alternatives.
Dorm Life Freshman dorms are miserable! But don't be put down: the apartments and townhouses available immediately after freshman year are well worth the wait. Junior and Senior year you have the choice of staying in the comfortable apartment complexes or moving off campus to an area that is filled with other college students.
Academic Rigor There are the intensive courses and then there are the classes that you can just skate by. It goes back to what you make of it. If it comes down to taking either an Advanced Biology class or Music Appreciation take the harder class, challenge yourself.
Tips for prospective students Rowan is mostly filled with state students. It is often referred to as the perfect size and the perfect distance away from home. It is easy to meet friends as a freshman and there are a plethora of opportunities. Find out what you like to do and commit. Things will fall in to place as you follow your heart.
In three sentences Rowan is a kick start school that makes the transition from high school to college very smooth. Rowan helps college students get in to a successful mindset. It is up to the student exactly how he/she wishes to interpret the helpful information offered.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The safety here isn't as strong as it should be. The crime rate in Glassboro is higher than most schools in this area. Public Safety does drive around 24/7, so there is some comfort in knowing that they are here.
Greek Life The Greek life organizations here and diverse and there are many multicultural organizations, as well. All the brothers and sisters carry themselves very well on campus.
Clubs and Activities The array of clubs and activities here is great. There are new clubs being petitioned every semester by the Student Government Association. No matter what your favorite hobbies or interests are, there is most likely a club or activity you can join.
Great for these types of students This school is known for it's great engineering program, so any student who is looking to major in engineering should look into Rowan. There is also a good ice hockey team here. Any male who plays ice hockey might want to look into getting a scholarship for hockey to play at Rowan.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There are some really cool locations on campus, like the fountain and forest behind the Engineering building. There's a nice little trail behind the fountain to explore, with benches and paths to follow. This is a great place to unwind, and if you look a little further, there's a geocache hidden in the forest, which is fun to find.
Bang for the buck It's difficult to get a job on campus. There aren't many opportunities around town because it's a small area, so job hunting can be very frustrating. If you are able to get a job on campus, the pay isn't anything extraordinary. It would be wise to save up your money over the summer so you have some cash to use for food and school supplies during the semester.
What to do for fun There are a lot of things to do around campus, especially at night. There are a ton of club sports, teams, other clubs, and organizations to join. E-mails are sent out everyday about the things happening around Rowan.
Food and Dining The cafeteria in the Student Center offers a lot of different options, but most of them are the same everyday. A lot of the food is also covered in oil and not very healthy. There is a nice salad bar, but that gets old quickly. The other options are downstairs in the Student Center, with a food court and Prof's Place. The food in the food court is also expensive and greasy, so it's not the best place to go if you're trying to avoid the 'freshman fifteen.' Prof's has different sandwiches and pancakes, and seems to be very popular with students.
Dorm Life Dorm life is fun if you are positive about it. Living in a dorm can be cramped unless you pack light, but you will meet a lot of different people and make friends all the time. Magnolia, Chestnut, and Willow are the best Rowan dorms to request, because the rooms are larger, and you only have one roommate. It's a great place to adjust to being away from home.
Academic Rigor Some majors are easier than others, with less written work. Depending on what you're studying, the academic rigor varies. Science or Math majors may have more classes to take than a Theatre or Dance major. No matter what, the academics to intensify as you go through the semesters. It is best to just focus, study, and pay attention in class in order to succeed.
Tips for prospective students I would recommend getting to know your roommate as soon as you are assigned one by reaching out to them on Facebook or any other social networking sites. Pick either four or five simple general education classes for your first semester, so you can adjust to college life. Also, I would pack light, as your living space will not be huge.
In three sentences Rowan University is a great school located in a quiet town. The best aspects of the school are the variety of classes, the list of many different majors, and being able to live on campus. This is a great place to go if you enjoy smaller populations of people and don't mind the rain.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Rowan after hours (RAH), parties are easy to find, bowling in Glassboro, campus is perfect for long boarding.
Food and Dining NEVER EVER EVER eat at Profs, the wing place, or the taco place. Profs = moldy sandwiches, wing place = under cooked chicken, and taco place = bones and scary veins in meat. The Caff however, and Jazzmans are wonderful, as is the Press.
Dorm Life People can get loud in the dorms (it is college after all), but I've dealt with a lot of problems with the RA's not enforcing quiet hours especially during finals and weeknights.
Academic Rigor I am an engineering major, and studies are very difficult.
Tips for prospective students Remember you are at school to learn, not to party. Set multiple alarms so you don't miss class. Get help the second you need it, don't wait.
In three sentences I love it at Rowan. The teachers are dedicated, and the students are nice. Everyone is very helpful.

Categories Comments What to do for fun The little lounges they have are awesome, they have a nice place for local music and hanging out.
Food and Dining I ate there & the food was fine. I love that there are Boro bucks that you can spend in places off campus, too!
Dorm Life It's rough for a freshman, since you cannot have AC your first year, but it's dorm life, so you can't expect that much.
Academic Rigor All of the students seemed very in tune with their classes, and ones I talked to love it there.
In three sentences My uncle works there, he got me interested. I visited, & right then & there I decided to go! I fell in love with the campus & the whole environment of the school.
