Tuition, Cost & Aid

Affordability and Cost

Average Net Price Average net price for full-time, first-time degree/certificate-seeking undergraduates paying the in-state or in-district tuition rate who were awarded grant or scholarship aid from federal, state or local governments, or the institution. Other sources of grant aid are excluded. Aid awarded anytime during the full aid year is included.

Average net price is generated by subtracting the average amount of federal, state or local government, or institutional grant and scholarship aid from the total cost of attendance. Total cost of attendance is the sum of published tuition and required fees (lower of in-district or in-state), books and supplies and the weighted average room and board and other expenses.

Additional Costs
Room and Board The weighted average for room and board and other expenses is generated as follows:
  • (amount for on-campus room, board and other expenses * # of students living on-campus.
  • + amount for off-campus (with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus with family
  • + amount for off-campus (not with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus not with family)
divided by the total # of students. Students whose living arrangements are unknown are excluded from the calculation. For some institutions the # of students by living arrangement will be known, but dollar amounts will not be known. In this case the # of students with no corresponding dollar amount will be excluded from the denominator.

What Students Are Saying

Surprisingly enough, I always felt like Plattsburgh State was severely underrated. There are too many exceptional professors at PSU that don't get enough recognition for their dedication to their career. Not only that, but for what you pay, you get an optimal education in a fairly well-maintained environment.
Adrian from Saranac, NY
It can be expensive. If you can afford it, come!
Sara from Lancaster, NY
besides campus life, the town offers a lot of fun ways to enjoy the weekend. students can go hiking, snowboarding, go downtown to hang out with friends. the location of the college also allows students to travel to montreal and vermont and learn about the culture and important values of the people.
Jenny from Brooklyn, NY
SUNY Plattsburgh is a state school so tuition is lower than a private school but the education I'm getting is at the same level if not higher than a private school! Room and board is more expensive then tuition is.
Kelsey from New Paltz, NY
You get great teachers and great facilities for your tuition dollars here. The school is constantly growing and expanding, renovating buildings for newer technologies and research as well as the wide variety of student groups and clubs.
