Take advantage of the groups associated with your major as well as interests. Spend more time there than you might want at first. Study at the library, take advantage of the learning resource center and get to know the student service center.

Just relax, and try to be courteous and open-minded to everyone because despite all outward appearances, everyone has a story and everyone is on some level broken. Study hard, for you are hear to learn- not just socialize. Also, try not to text in class- if it is important, take it outside or risk getting thrown out of class and counted as absent.

If you want to have fun, make sure you join a club or something. If I had not joined the Theatre Department, Saddleback would not have been an amazing experience for me. Most of the people in your classes will not talk to you, so if you do not want to be bored the whole semester, make sure you start talking to your peers.

Apply for financial aid early and follow up frequently.

Remember that you are not in High school anymore, don't act like it.
