Do not immediately rule Saint Mary's out based on the all-girls community. I have heard from many people that they never intended on attending Saint Mary's, but now that they do, they couldn't be happier. The University of Notre Dame and Holy Cross College are very close by and the three schools make up a close, intertwined community.

Tips I would give prospective students to any college is when you visit the campus make sure to asks a ton of questions and get to see as much of campus as you can. Also if your able to, see if you can sit in on a class. It is a great way to see if you are comfortable academic wise.

If you're coming from a big city, then you might be in for a shock. There are not many off-campus activities available. Notre Dame and Holy Cross are the 2 colleges that are also in the area. You can take a 10-15min walk over to Notre Dame or wait for the school provided bus to get there, which goes around every 30 mins. Notre Dame has a few different fast food restaurants and a bigger convenient store selection.

Bring a winter coat, an open mind, and a love for yourself as an independent woman before you dare approach those Notre Dame boys (or girls!) across the street. No matter what college you go to, love yourself for who you are above all things.
