    Mission Statement

Salisbury University is a premier comprehensive Maryland public university, offering excellent, affordable education in undergraduate liberal arts, sciences, pre-professional and professional programs, including education, nursing, social work, and business, and a limited number of applied graduate programs. Our highest purpose is to empower our students with the knowledge, skills, and core values that contribute to active citizenship, gainful employment, and life-long learning in a democratic society and interdependent world. Salisbury University cultivates and sustains a superior learning community where students, faculty, and staff are viewed as teachers, scholars, and learners, and where a commitment to excellence and openness to a broad array of ideas and perspectives are central to all aspects of University life. Our learning community is student-centered, where students are taught by professional educators in small classroom settings, where faculty serve as academic advisors, and where virtually every student has an opportunity to undertake research with a faculty mentor. We foster an environment where individuals make choices that lead to a more successful development of social, physical, occupational, emotional, and intellectual well being. The University recruits exceptional and diverse faculty, staff, and undergraduate and graduate students from across Maryland, the United States, and around the world, supporting all members of the University community as they work together to achieve institutional goals and vision. Believing that learning and service are vital components of civic life, Salisbury University actively contributes to the local Eastern Shore community and the educational, economic, cultural, and social needs of our State and nation.

I enjoy being at Salisbury, but overall the school is too small for me. I love being around a lot of people, therefore I rather be at a bigger school, which is why I am considering Towson University. At Salisbury, I see almost the same students who have the same major in many of my classes. It's about a 10 minute walk from the start of campus to the end of campus. Not that big at all. Although it's a small school, there's a lot to do on campus. There are many clubs to join. I joined club volleyball and softball and enjoyed it very much. They have different contests and activities between the dorm halls. The campus throws parties for the whole campus. There's a lot to do on and off campus, but if you're looking for a big school, Salisbury isn't for you. read full review

Salisbury University has been a dream come true for me. Attending SU was the best decision I have ever made. My parents had always believed I would stay in state, close to home for college due to financial reasons, but I had bigger dreams. I am paying for my education at Salisbury all alone, and am enjoying every moment spent here. I joined a sorority my second semester, and met many of my best friends throughout our experiences that semester. Everyday my parents tell me just how proud of me they are for going through with my dream, and being brave enough to take on such a huge debt alone, and begin a new life in a new state. The transition to Salisbury was hard at first, since I did not know a single person there. But through extra curricular activities, and being outgoing making friends was no problem at all. I would recommend Salisbury University to anyone who wants an amazing education, and the opportunities of a lifetime. read full review
