Categories Comments Great for these types of students This school was very black and white. You either fit with one crowd or you fit with the other crowd. The students are either incredibly stuck up or they are the biggest hippies. I personally had no problem making friends just make sure these types of people don't annoy you. I mean there are also the loner type which I was for a while and there is nothing wrong with that either.
Tips for prospective students Housing was a big issue for me. Freshman are the only ones that receive dorms, that is, if you are lucky and don't live in-state. After that you have to find your own place to live and Boston isn't cheap.
Bang for the buck My parents are divorced and I only have one parent attempting to help me financially but the fact that she is unable to help with college and despite the fact I was awarded good scholarships, this school was still incredibly expensive.
Did enjoy being here I commuted two hours everyday (both ways) to get to school therefore despite the fact this was my number one choice, I'd get to school drained and wanting to go home.
Did learn a lot The professors love what they are teaching and therefore get involved in everything you do. They are always willing to help with projects and they give good feedback. The academics that are taken through Tufts are also excellent as well. The professors there are also always willing to help and seem to answer your emails within the hour every time.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students If you like to walk, or if you are not afraid of four seasons and trying new things.
Tips for prospective students If you don't like being in a busy city, this school is not for you. But Boston is a city full of colleges, and history, which makes it a perfect place for scholars.
Bang for the buck Being a first born Caucasian female coming from a stable income, I received more money from the school than I thought I would have. But overall the school is very expensive and there are only a few scholarships that can be applied for.
Am enjoying being here Yes.
Am learning a lot I just completed my first year at SMFA and I feel that I learned a lot about the art world in just two semesters. The teachers are all very knowledgeable and passionate about their subjects. I felt that all of my teachers were very helpful. There are an abundance of classes, and other students are always willing to help one another out. I felt that the review board process helped at the end of each semester to better myself and my classmates as artists. If you don't learn anything in class there are tons of artists lectures, and the city has plenty to offer.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck It is REALLY expensive - like $50,000. I think its more like $55,000 now. That's one of the reasons I left. My new school gave me a lot more money.
Did enjoy being here It was really hard for me to get the classes I wanted. I tried to get into Photo I for three semesters and gave up. Also it was almost impossible to get a studio. It's fun at the school during the day, but after 5 pm when classes end everyone goes their own way. There are very few activities going on for students. They really need to improve their student activities department. At my new school we have activities every day. Also, there are only a few dorm spaces and only dorms for freshmen. A lot of freshmen were lonely. My roommate also transferred.
Did learn a lot Some of my professors were good. That's the best thing about the place that the teachers really care about the students. The school doesn't do almost any technical training. I heard a lot of other kids say the same thing.
