Great for these types of students

People who love the mountains and enjoy a small school environment will love it here!

    Tips for prospective students

Check out the campus, it's gorgeous! I am not a student there so I don't really have much more than that.

    Bang for the buck

It is a private school and it can be pricey but there are a lot of institutional scholarships available. Also surprisingly a lot of little extras are free like parking, paper for printing, passes to the nearby fitness center and as I mentioned earlier, the outdoor adventure trips. It may not seem like a lot but those things can add up quickly at other colleges, especially if you get parking tickets and before you know it you could paying private school prices for public school.

    Will enjoy being here

They have a lot of outdoor adventure programs that are free or cost very little including shopping trips to San Francisco, Snowboarding/Skiing, and summer activities like rafting and fishing trips. I also found that a lot of students call their teachers by their first name.

    Will learn a lot

This school is very small and therefore very hands on. They give you a well rounded education in business, entrepreneurship, and some arts and sciences, even though your major may not necessarily involve those subjects. They like to give a very broad education so that you can leave college able to succeed in either getting a job in your field or creating one.

    Campus Safety

Extremely safe town. Campus has security at night.

    Greek Life

    None.

    Clubs and Activities

We are not sort on activities at all, as I have mentioned. We do also offer a variety of clubs and it isn't hard to get one going!

Great for these types of students

SNC is great for students who want a small school setting with small classes. It is also the perfect school for outdoors people or people big into skiing!

    Bang for the buck

The school is pricey but almost all school trips are at little to no cost the the students above tuition! Trips like... Six Flags, White Water Rafting, and two formal dances a year!

    What to do for fun

There is so much to do at SNC! Between the school trips, location near San Francisco, Reno, and Sacramento, and the Lake Tahoe Basin you will never be short on things to do!

    Food and Dining

The food gets old by the end of the year but as far as dinning hall food goes its better than most. There is also always a vegetarian option!

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is great! The housing staff works hard to make the dorms feel like a home! Each room has its own bathroom and they are quite large!

    Academic Rigor

The professors challenge you to be active in your own education. They ask you to be involved and engaged in classes. However, the homework load in to too much. You will still have time for skiing, boarding, and any other outdoor activities!

    Tips for prospective students

Communicate with your admissions counselor! They are friendly, helpful, and most have graduated from SNC. Also, should you choose to attend, get involved! The campus is small and SNC is a very tight community so it is easy to get to know everyone very quickly!

    In three sentences

SNC Is a truly unique four year private liberal arts college! With solid professors experienced in their fields, you can't beat the education. With the schools location being in Lake Tahoe you can also enjoy the best recreation of the Sierras!

    Dorm Life

Nice dorms. all equipped with room furniture, Internet, heated floors. i hear its a typical door set up.

    Academic Rigor

Its an unfolding process of progression. The semester builds upon its self really well. you have to work though there is no doubt about it.

    Tips for prospective students

Be prepared for snow. If you like to snowboard or ski, beaches in the summer, this is the spot. The resources in the community are limited, that makes finding work a bit tough.

    In three sentences

SNC is a great Liberal Arts College. It deliveres the true essance of learning, and out of the box thinking. The school is a small, mellow environment, set up in the mountains which is perfect for some and not for others. It is a small college town amoungst retieries. The Teachers are stellar though! They are always there to talk to, due to the small school population. The food is not that good, but the ski mountains make it all worth while;)

    Ski bums

    What to do for fun

Incline VIllage is a really small town. Friends are really important here because there are few places to go unless you go further into Nevada or Cali.

    Food and Dining

The food is pretty average and there are very few options for those of us who are conscious about vegetarianism, veganism, and localvore styles of food.

    Academic Rigor

This school is not very challenging but it is really what you make of it. There are all kinds of opportunities because many students dont take advantage of them.

    Tips for prospective students

If you want to major in ski business, go for it. If not, think really hard about coming here esp for those of you interested in the humanities. Great art program however.

    In three sentences

Sierra Nevada College is located in an AMAZING location. Great skiing, beaching, hiking, backpacking, camping, bars, festivals etc but is a very tiny college. Everyone tends to know everyone but there is a privileged attitude permeating campus. Lots of students transfer out and graduates tend to work for the school as teachers or staff members.
