Being in a rural area really challenges one's creativity when it comes to entertainment. Sioux Falls is about an hour away, with a few decent music venues, a shopping center, and museums. There is a state park near Bruce, a few miles north of campus with a gorgeous lake and swimming area. If you don't have a car, options are dramatically limited. In town, there are great restaurants, a few bars, a movie theater, and a disc golfing course. Aside from that, drinking to excess is a very popular (although not advisable) choice.

There are lots of clubs and organizations through the school, there are sports to join, dances happen every couple of weeks at the school, and lots of other things.

A couple of activities I am involved in at South Dakota State University is being involved with bible studies and also worship services. However, it is imperative that individuals know that South Dakota State University is not a private college. Secondly, students encourage others to practice what one believes of any kind. Students at SDSU are very open and willing to accept others. Another activity I am involved in is Art Club. I enjoy being apart of Art Club because although I am a Pre-Nursing student, it is important for students to connect with students of all majors. I am proud to say that I am the Vice President of Art Club, and I feel that SDSU has clubs and activities that are meant for everyone.

On warmer days, it's nice to just walk around Brookings or play frisbee in a park with friends or whatever. In the winter... well, there is a movie theater and there is a club downtown for those who can drink (plus a few underage nights), but in general the only thing to do that isn't happening on campus is going out to eat. The school, clubs, and dorms generally have stuff going on during the weekends though, you just have to look for when tickets will be available.

SDSU has many things to do for fun, as the town is built around the college, so many things on campus and around town can be fun to do!

Right now, I spend time with some friends and go to the wellness center for fun. I would like to get involved in theater or our homecoming committee. I just always seem to hear about it too late.

There are many things to do for fun, but one thing I suggest students do is to join a club. There are many clubs of all sorts for anyone wanting to meet people with the same interests. For instance I am in a horse club and anything horse related that you can think of we get to do. Each club has various activities that they do and enjoy. Other things that are fun on campus are Friday night flicks where there is a movie being played in one of the biggest classrooms on campus and its free. Other activities go on throughout each week such as: Ice skating, contests in the union lobby, bowling, and many more things that students can participate in and have fun too.

We went to Cubby's, a sports bar and grill, and we also attended a lot of sporting events to support our teams.
