Tuition, Cost & Aid

Affordability and Cost

Average Net Price Average net price for full-time, first-time degree/certificate-seeking undergraduates paying the in-state or in-district tuition rate who were awarded grant or scholarship aid from federal, state or local governments, or the institution. Other sources of grant aid are excluded. Aid awarded anytime during the full aid year is included.

Average net price is generated by subtracting the average amount of federal, state or local government, or institutional grant and scholarship aid from the total cost of attendance. Total cost of attendance is the sum of published tuition and required fees (lower of in-district or in-state), books and supplies and the weighted average room and board and other expenses.

$9,015
Out-of-State Tuition Out-of-state tuition is the tuition charged by institutions to those students who do not meet the state's or institution's residency requirements. Additional Costs
Room and Board The weighted average for room and board and other expenses is generated as follows:
  • (amount for on-campus room, board and other expenses * # of students living on-campus.
  • + amount for off-campus (with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus with family
  • + amount for off-campus (not with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus not with family)
divided by the total # of students. Students whose living arrangements are unknown are excluded from the calculation. For some institutions the # of students by living arrangement will be known, but dollar amounts will not be known. In this case the # of students with no corresponding dollar amount will be excluded from the denominator.

What Students Are Saying

The teachers are helpful and the tuition is decently priced. Be aware of extra charges that you may assume to be free.
Misty from Malden, MO
SEMO has some of the best rates I saw in my college search. There are tons of scholarships offered through the university, and a lot of them are non-competitive (If you qualify for it, you get it as long as you apply in time). There are lots of opportunities to get financial aid if you need it.
Brittany from Marion, IL
Southeast Missouri State University, in my opinion, is very reasonable about pricing. Their tuition is much cheaper than many other schools in Missouri and their educational program is equal to the other schools. There are also many available majors to chose from.
Katherine from Bridgeton, MO
SEMO is big college experience for a small college price. SEMO is one of the best deals in the state. Though the tuition is relatively low the educational experience is priceless.
Evyn from Saint Louis, MO
Out of the colleges I was looking at SEMO was the cheapest but had everything I was looking for in a college. they have a lot of scholarships and hopefully I will be awarded a good financial aid package.
Erin from Moscow Mills, MO
This is a great school for a great cost.
Malcolm from St. Louis, MO
SEMO is one of the best values in Missouri and the states surrounding. The quality of the education and experience is more than worth what it costs to attend. Also, when you consider the massive amount of (often underutilized) student serives, it really is one of the best deals! Also, they have a wonderful library and book rental system.
Andrea from Blackwell, MO
Free laundry.
Free use of the bus on weekends (if you're unable to drive somewhere).
Plenty of food to eat with the amount of money you're given.
