    Tips for prospective students

Even if you don't want to go to SCC, apply and register early.

    Bang for the buck

I wish I was out of Keokuk

    Am learning a lot

It's a great place to learn all the things I am.

Great for these types of students

What's great about SCC is that it is great for all types of students that want to excel in their major. A great stepping stone on the path of anyone's future.

Prof. Bybee's art area, is something one shouldn't miss! There is always something going on around that classroom!! There are a number of VERY talented people that can be found there including Bybee himself. Artistic exploration is granted around this class and it's a very inviting atmosphere no matter the experience one has with art.

    Bang for the buck

Definitely worth the tuition, which is somewhat lower than many colleges including other community colleges. It's small enough for that small town feel, yet large enough for a student to stay entertained and excited to attend SCC.

    What to do for fun

There are plenty of extracurricular activities to partake in no matter what a student is into. Sports, clubs, and organizations help give SCC an edge on other small community colleges.

    Food and Dining

Food is decent, better than most college menus. The cafeteria is somewhat small, but stays clean overall. A nice, somewhat quiet atmosphere for a cafeteria.

    Dorm Life

Dorms are very small but are improving by the year. Students come from all over so there is plenty of adversity here!!

    Academic Rigor

With a great understanding of individual attention and small class sizes, it would be difficult to excel at a college such as SCC.

    Tips for prospective students

Be sure you want a college that can give you the individual attention you need. Adhere to the teachings of your instructors, they actually know what they are talking about. Experiment and explore yourself through SCC's offerings and you will be rewarded!

    In three sentences

The North campus is small and inviting with many student activities available to enjoy. The teachers are excellent with an understanding for one on one education. SCC is very affordable for all types of students.

    Clubs and Activities

There were many things to do at this college, the women's basketball games drew very big crowds. However, more recently certain members of the college have started putting on plays for the student body, starring other students. These were very well done and I highly recommend checking one out.

One of the more unusual things that I have participated in when enrolled here was the colleges some-what annual Zombie Walk. This is an activity that has been held in the past where students and even members of the community are invited to dress up as zombies and walk up and down main street, just for fun and to get people involved with the college. This is organized by faculty members and is a very fun activity to be involved in.

    Food and Dining

This college had a cafeteria called the Blackhawk Diner, the food there was always good and very affordable.

    Dorm Life

I did not stay in any of the dorms that this college had to offer, I was a stay at home student when I was enrolled at this university.

    Academic Rigor

The courses at this college were very educational, but not overly challenging. I found that as long as I stayed on track and handed in everything assigned it was easy to learn what was taught.

    Tips for prospective students

If you are planning on enrolling at this college a piece of advice is to make yourself well acquainted with the staff and the professors, the more better you know everyone the easier it is to ask for help with assignments if you need it. Also be sure to utilize all of the services offered, such as the tutors and enrollment specialists. They will definitely assist you in making your college experience a pleasant and successful one.

    In three sentences

I was very pleased with this college; every professor that I had was very supportive and educational. The small class sizes offered at this college were very good for me especially when it came to my public speaking class. I believe that my time at this college will be very beneficial to my future educational and career seeking endeavours.

    Food and Dining

I think the food is ok

    Academic Rigor

You will learn and the instuctors try to make class fun.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't be nervous, take your time, do your work, if you struggle they will help you, and most of all have fun.

    Campus Safety

Nothing terrible has happened since I've been here. And I've only seen one security guard, the same one, everyday I went to school.

    Bang for the buck

It's a cheap school. Mainly for an AA or AS, and very big on the nursing major. I enjoy it lots. The teachers really understand the students, and help in the best way possible so that we do succeed.

    What to do for fun

There is always something to do here. So many activities and clubs. A lot of clubs like to hold bake sales, or even a meal. Games are always happening. This year, some girls did a Christmas Flash Mob at a Basketball game. It was recorded and put on facebook. It's pretty awesome. The art club made over 100 bowls for the homeless shelter, glazed them and everything.

    Food and Dining

The food is pretty great here. It's a small cafeteria area with booths, tables, high top tables, and couches that sit in front of a flat screen tv. The cooks are super nice and they know you, especially since it's such a small school.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are only offered to students who are participating in sports. Especially Softball, Baseball, Volleyball, and Basketball players. It kinda sucks for the rest of us.
