Categories Comments What to do for fun there are many clubs and groups at sic. there is a club for basically every interest and major, and it is super easy to start a club yourself.
Tips for prospective students apply for scholarships. one of the advantages of attending a small school is that there is a limited amount of competition for school-wide scholarships.
In three sentences sic is small, but not in a bad way. you get plenty of one-on-one time with teachers, it is easy to get to know everyone, and for most students, it is close to home. southeastern illinois college is the smart and affordable choice for college students.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I find the campus very safe. I have never felt like I was in danger at SIC. I mean since the town the college is in is small, I think that helps and the crime rate isn't big either.
Clubs and Activities At Southeastern Illinois College they have a lot of clubs to choose from. I'm only in two, but I love the two I'm in. I'm currently in Theta Sigma Phi, which is a theater group. I'm also in TRiO-Student Support Services, which helps you with basically anything you need. They let you print things off, give you Internet access, have mentors and tutors, and so many other things.
Great for these types of students I think that people who would love this campus are people who want to come to a smaller school. Everything about the school is tiny, except for the personalities of the students.
Food and Dining SIC has several options to choose from and since they aren't very far from the city you can go out to Sonic, Kentucky's Fried Chicken, etc.
Dorm Life I don't live in the dorms, I carpool with my friend. I can't really help you in this department.
Academic Rigor Most of the teachers on campus go by the handbook, but there some teachers that don't even care if you come to class. They don't punish you because it's not their fault you weren't in class. For the most part if you tell a teacher ahead of time that you're not going to be there, they will be understanding about it.
In three sentences I love Southeastern Illinois College because it has different clubs and groups that anyone can join, and sometimes they go on some fun end of the year trips. They also have some incredible teachers that are so passionate about teaching that it makes learning fun. Also if you prefer a smaller campus then SIC is for you!

Categories Comments Campus Safety SIC is located, literally, in the middle of cornfields in the picturesque Southern Illinois, so you don't have any city bums to worry about. I haven't had ANY trouble with any students or teachers at SIC, and I have been so happy with all of the people I have come into contact with.
Clubs and Activities Phi Theta Kappa is an excellent way to show your academic success. There are so many different student clubs as well, like B.A.S.I.C., the Christian club on campus, and Theta Sigma Phi, the theater club. All of these will give experience on real life situations, especially if elected into Student Government.
Food and Dining The two closest towns nearby are Harrisburg and Eldorado. Restaurants would include McDonalds, Subway, Peking Palace, KFC, Taco Bell, Wok 'n' Roll, Dairy Queen, Tequilas...etc. Not a whole lot of fancy dining, but there are definitely delicious options!
Dorm Life I live at home, but I have heard that the dorms are a lot of fun.
In three sentences Southeastern Illinois College has been the perfect place for me to launch my education! It is close to home, has lots of scholarship and student work opportunities (making it affordable), and wonderful faculty who really care about student success. SIC is a great place to get a feel for what you want to major in, because you can experience aspects of all the different departments.

What to do for fun Fellowship, quiet time, walking, and taking ride to St. Louis for sight seeing. Not much to do nothing close around but the school.
Tips for prospective students If you like small groups this is the school for you. If you like quite and isolation this if for you.

Categories Comments Campus Safety SIC is a very small, but appealing campus. Safety is not an issue. We have campus patrol that is on duty whenever classes are in session. Because of the size of this campus, most students know each other and look out for each other.
Greek Life Phi Beta Lambda and Phi Theta Kappa are also part of the student life at SIC.
Clubs and Activities SIC has many clubs and activities. I have been on the Forensics team both years at SIC and I love it. We have basketball, baseball and softball teams, as well as math, science and student government clubs. Some other interesting clubs include archery and shotgun. Music, art and theater clubs play a big role in other activities provided by SIC.
Great for these types of students SIC has many associate degree programs. They can prepare a student that plans to transfer to a 4 year college. The counselors will help students on a very personal basis and guide them in what classes to take that will transfer to their next destination. SIC makes learning possible on a part time or full time basis. SIC also has an on campus child center. This is a great advantage to students or staff that need daycare facilities.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus At SIC, we are taught by our professors and can meet with them personally. I have friends that attend larger universities and can only meet with a teacher's aide. SIC also provides free tutors. This can be a huge savings for students. There are many scholarships available at SIC and many student campus jobs. I love my campus job!
Bang for the buck SIC has one of the lowest tuition rates in the United States. My parents researched college cost and found SIC to be more than reasonable. This worked especially good for me, because we live withing 20 miles and I can still live at home and save cost by doing so.
What to do for fun I am on the Forensics team at SIC. I do spend a lot of time preparing for this. We have a great time as we travel to other cities and states competing. SIC also has many other academic teams, theatrical teams and sporting events.
Food and Dining Our dining hall has tasty foods at a low price. This is a nice benefit for students.
Dorm Life I do not live in the dorms, so I am not qualified to comment.
Academic Rigor Academically, SIC has prepared me for all I need to continue my degree at a 4 year university. My professors take the time to not only teach, but also to help students understand the subject matter. THey know me by name and care about my success. They are approachable, which is one thing that I love about SIC.
Tips for prospective students Do your best in high school and look to your future goals. If your looking for a small college atmosphere with staff that will encourage you, look no further than SIC. This is a great place to earn an associates degree or the perfect first stepping stone before you attend a University.
In three sentences Southeastern is a great school with many opportunities. I have loved being a student, working on campus and being part of the SIC Speech Team. The professors and staff at SIC really care about the students and have been so helpful in helping me fulfill by career goals.
