    It is a public state institution. The tuition could be much higher if it was private. There are definitly advantages to a public university. The low tuition definitly helps as well as scholarship opportunities, and on campus jobs.

    Southern is a less expensive school compared to other universities even within the Connecticut region, and that is fortunate for many prospective and enrolled students. The quality of the university is worth the fair prices.
