Around Town

Northpark Mall is just ten minutes north and has almost every store your heart could desire. White Rock Lake and Katy Trail provide beautiful walking and running trails. Make sure to take advantage of Boulevarding season. Many students go to Stars hockey games.

I don't think I could adequately describe all of the activities. The campus itself is almost constantly holding events for students and the Dallas area in general is stuffed with things to do for all kinds of people.

Dallas and the surrounding areas have so much to offer. There are great restaurants, bars, and clubs downtown as well as close to campus.

There is usually some event on campus. Dignitaries and even celebritites such as Will Farrel come to speak. Also the nightlife is quite fun.

SMU is centered on Mockingbird and is surrounded by the glamorous life of Dallas! There is delicious dining, art museums, malls, and quirky unique places for all types of lifestyles.

Running club and fitness center is the most fun places to go. Again, the parties are really fun and huge too!!! (depending on who holds it) intramural sport teams are really good for sporties especially indoor soccer!!!

Free food, movies all the time. Oh yeah, parties any time!

The fraternities throw a lot of amazing parties. The sororities have really fun charity benefits. And because you're right outside of Dallas there is plenty to do.

Get a DART transit pass (only $5 for all 4 years!!). Mockingbird station is only a SMU bus drive away, which will get you ANYWHERE you want in the DFW area (even to some of the suburbs, as the Green Line railway gets you all the way to Carrollton). I've lived in Dallas all of my life and I can promise you that there is something here to do for everyone. All you have to do is google your interests and you'll find something to do (every third Friday of each month, the Nasher Sculpture Center hosts Midnight at the Nasher which is a free event from 6pm to Midnight and you listen to live music and then watch a movie!!)
