Mockingbird station is only a SMU bus drive away, which will get you ANYWHERE you want in the DFW area (even to some of the suburbs, as the Green Line railway gets you all the way to Carrollton). I've lived in Dallas all of my life and I can promise you that there is something here to do for everyone. All you have to do is google your interests and you'll find something to do (every third Friday of each month, the Nasher Sculpture Center hosts Midnight at the Nasher which is a free event from 6pm to Midnight and you listen to live music and then watch a movie!!)
