Great for these types of students

Business majors, culinary majors, and hospitality majors. Students who want a smaller campus with smaller class sizes.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure to build up your resume. SNHU gives out merit scholarships based on grades and extracurricular activities. When on a tour, don't just look at the brand new, nice looking buildings put up along the main road. Walk around the campus and take a look at the older buildings. Look into the quality of your program.

    Bang for the buck

As a private school, SNHU is more expensive than its public counterparts. Some professors are extremely knowledgeable, while others read the from the text book as if they never taught the course before. The dining hall is on the expensive side for the quality of the food and service provided.

    Am enjoying being here

The school can be enjoyable if you get involved in clubs or a sports team. The campus is small, but there's plenty to do in the surrounding Manchester/Hookset area.

    Am learning a lot

The staff is mostly knowledgeable and small class sizes allow students to get to know their professors. Southern New Hampshire University isn't the most challenging school, but students can end a semester knowing they gained some knowledge.

Great for these types of students

Online (that's all I know about!)

    Am enjoying being here

I am an online student at SNHU and I really do enjoy it. I do not know if it offers anything unique because it is all based on the Blackboard online platform. The instructors are from all over. I will continue online at SNHU until I finish my Associates of Science in Marketing. The admissions and advising faculty members are great!

Great for these types of students

I am a commuter so SNHU is great for that! I get 2,000 dollars to commute and I am still in all of the activities on and off of campus! SNHU is also great if you live on campus, everything ia really close and the dorms are very clean and the staff is great to work with!

    Tips for prospective students

Visit campus so that you can get a feel for the dorms, they are all so different! Also check with your high school guidance counselor to see if there are any special programs your high school is doing with SNHU.

    Bang for the buck

Even though tuition was raised a little this year, i still feel as if it is my best opportunity, and i really am getting what i pay for!

    Am enjoying being here

I love being at SNHU, the environment is great! The clubs on campus really put on alot of activities and chances to meet other students, and on campus generally everyone is really nice!

    Am learning a lot

I would definately say I am learning alot! The pofessors at SNHU really get to know you in class so if you have a question, or miss understand something they are very easy to reach, and they know who you are! At the begining of each semester you are provided with your professors email address and phone number as well as office hours so you can reach them with in minutes! I am a Sophomore at SNHU and i would say i have already learned more than i feel i did in High School, the courses they set out for students to take are really very important and you feel like your being educated when your in class!

Great for these types of students

Busy adults who actually want to learn and want a degree that means something to employers.

    Bang for the buck

I've been to 3 online schools and this is by far the most professional, helpful, and least expensive.

    Food and Dining

I get to eat even when I'm doing assignments for class - it's all online.

    Academic Rigor

The courses are difficult but you'll learn a lot.

    In three sentences

The online classes are by no means easy. There are many weekly assignments in each class, but it is manageable if you budget your time. Overall, it is a great school - I've learned a lot there.

    Tips for prospective students

Even though I mentioned lowering my tuition from $38,000 to $10,000, it doesn't come that easily. If you work hard in high school and make your application and transcript look excellent, that is how you'll obtain a large amount in scholarships. So, work hard in high school and take challenging classes so that you catch the attention of the admissions staff!

    Bang for the buck

With SNHU being a private college, you would expect it to be more expensive than it actually is. SNHU's tuition for boarding students is about $38,000 a year, whereas most private colleges range from $40,000-$60,000 a year for boarding students. Although SNHU's tuition is $38,000, they provide a large sum of financial aid and scholarship money. In the end, my tuition for the year ended up being about $10,000! For a private university, you'll get a lot for your money here.

    Will enjoy being here

When I did my overnight for lacrosse, my host showed me what it would be like to live on the SNHU campus this coming fall. In the 24 hours I was there for, I did numerous different things and was never bored. There's a huge mall nearby with every store and restaurant you could think of, plenty of things to do on campus, and, of course, several parties. The location is also great. It is close to many big cities (45 minutes from Boston), several beaches, and the mountains (for the skiers and snowboarders out there). You'll also have access to public transportation so that you can access all of the above places. Trust me, you will never be bored!

    Will learn a lot

I have sat in on classes at Southern New Hampshire University and have learned information that I had not known prior to sitting in on the classes. With that being said, I have talked to the head of the math department at SNHU and he said I will have to repeat math classes to earn my math credits since I have already taken all college level math classes that are offered at SNHU during my high school career. I am disappointed that they do not have higher level math classes but know I will still learn a lot in other subjects.

    Campus Safety

When I lost my keys, Public Safety was here for me. They can walk you home if is late at night and you are afraid. There are also emergency phones and buttons in a few common places on campus in case of emergencies.

    Clubs and Activities

If you like sports, there is clubs for that. If you want to meet people in your major, there are clubs for a lot of majors. If have a passion to help others and volunteer, there is a place for you too; you know it is good when you can start your own club to pursue an interest or goal you have.

Great for these types of students

SNHU is great for go-getters-people who have goals and want help achieving them. It is great for students who like small, close knit communities and for those who like to feel important and known on a more individual level.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

It is a little unusual that we have an art gallery on campus but it is really cool! We had a ceremony as incoming freshmen which involved bagpipes, but it was interesting.

    Bang for the buck

SNHU is worth the cost. I highly value my education here.

    What to do for fun

Personally I play bingo, attend campus events, do community service work, go to free movies, spend time with a few clubs, play soccer just for fun, hang out at the pub (fooseball, pool, a piano, and free food!), watch sports games, and do zumba!

    Food and Dining

The food here is amazing and there is a great variety! There is options for everyone, even if you have allergies, like a gluten-free allergy. The food is fresh and hot as it is made as you order it.

    Dorm Life

The cleanliness is outstanding. The Wellness housing has been a blessing by bringing me a safe, drug and alcohol free, and quiet living space where I feel comfortable.

    Academic Rigor

Academics are so important here that there is walk-in hours for tutoring, library reference help, and free one-on-one tutoring if you need it. The honors program is great for students who like a challenge!

    Tips for prospective students

One of my tips is to visit your professors during their office hours and to utilize all facilities and resources once you are a college student. It is important to apply for scholarships ahead of time too. Another thing to look into is if you have work study on your award letter and to apply for positions early online.

    In three sentences

I give Southern New Hampshire University an excellent rating, five stars out of five stars. I feel at home here and have little financial, academic, or social worries. Southern New Hampshire University does an outstanding job at building communities and guiding go-getters to achieve their goals.

    Campus Safety

I feel very safe on campus during the day and night. The campus is very well lit at night.

    Clubs and Activities

I am in American Sign Language Club, I have enjoyed it very much.

    Bang for the buck

Expensive college, but give a good amount of financial aid. Amount of financial aid only reason I could go to this school.

    What to do for fun

Hang out with friends, go to soccer game, racketball, movies, etc.

    Food and Dining

Better than I thought, good amount of choices, always has some sort of burgers, pasta, and pizza out along with multiple different choices.

    Dorm Life

I live in New Castle, known as the party dorm. I am not a partier or drinker but have to pay damage fees on things that drunks or irresponciable students break. The room is very nice and bigger than other dorms. The majority of the people on my floor are very nice, but very loud espicially after quiet hours. The RA does not inforce quiet hours. I plan to switch to Wellness Housing next year. I have many friends in Wellness Housing, they like the dorm very much and when I have visited it is much quietier and quiet hours are inforced.

    Academic Rigor

Feel like I am getting a good education.

    Tips for prospective students

Stay on track, keep up the work, it is easy to fall behind for some classes.

    In three sentences

I have enjoyed my time here. I love the friends I have made here and liked all my professors.

    Campus Safety

I can say online classes are pretty safe!! I would hope that campus safety includes the protection of all students to best of officers abilities. With the recent circumstances involving school shootings and campus safety, I'm sure Southern NewHampshire University takes the safety of it's campus residences seriously, whether it be students or faculty. Safety is number one. Without that, nothing else would be possible.

    Greek Life

Wow!! Another experience I cannot speak on. I can say if I could go back in time and given the chance, I would join a fraternity. I know people who have built lifelong friendships from their Greek families. They have also helped their professional careers by building social networks and circles.

    Clubs and Activities

Clubs and activities are an integral part of college life as it shows that you a part of something. It also helps to create school unity. As an online student, I would encourage students, campus and online, to get involved.

Great for these types of students

I think the crucial thing for online students is to get involved. Just because you don't live on campus doesn't mean you're not a part of something special. I entered an online survey for the school and won a $100.00 gift card from amazon!! I also recently submitted a survey about my major.(Creative Writing)

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

???Sorry. No online traditions that I know of!!

    Bang for the buck

I would say it's worth the buck. As a student, you are investing in your future. I would say that your future is worth everything, so you should put everything into it.

    What to do for fun

    Study, study, study!!

    Food and Dining

Once again, I cannot speak about the food and dining as I am an online student.

    Dorm Life

I wish I could speak on dorm life but unfortunately, I can't as I am an online student.

    Academic Rigor

The academic rigor of online classes can be tough if you fall behind but if you log in when you're supposed to and keep up with assignments, you should have no problem. Instructors have to adhere to University guidelines so as an online student it's your responsibility to log in during the week.

    Tips for prospective students

I am an online student and I love it. The main thing I would suggest for prospective students is to get started right away. Online classes move quickly and it's easy to fall behind. Don't hesitate to log in within the first few days of class or even before the start as classes are sometimes available to view before the start date. Log on and check out the syllabus to see what's expected of you in the class.

    In three sentences

Very intense and well worth it. You know you have earned your grade. The school makes you feel a sense of accomplishment.

    Food and Dining

    Again online student.

    Dorm Life

I am an online student so I don't know how dorm life is.

    Tips for prospective students

Get to know your advisors, they help a lot when something goes wrong. Don't be afraid to ask questions? If you don't ask the question it goes unanswered. Last but not least, help others when you can. It's good experience and it might answer some of the unasked questions.

    In three sentences

Southern New Hampshire University is a very student orientated school. The advisors there really listen to what the students not just want but need. This helps the student to figure out what will best fit their schedule and abilities.

Great for these types of students

If you like small classes and a fairly small campus, this is the school for you! This school is also known for it's business program - so that's it's strength. They are beginning to add in a lot of art programs, but in my opinion (I'm a graphic design major) it's not up to par quite yet.

    Tips for prospective students

Do well in high school, and you'll get a nice scholarship!

    Bang for the buck

SNHU is a private school, so the tuition cost is a little up there. I got almost half of my tuition in a merit scholarship, which made it actually affordable! They're really good with aide and scholarships, but they over charge for all of their food. I'm often killing time in between classes, and I don't always bring food with me everyday. It costs about $10 a meal, and that's a lot when you eat there all the time, especially when you're paying out of pocket and not on a meal plan.

    Am enjoying being here

SNHU is a very nice school. It has a fairly small campus, which is great because you can walk anywhere in 5 minutes (to and from academic buildings; I'm a commuter so I'm not sure exactly how far everything is from all the residence halls). They have a very nice dining hall, and the newest academic center has new mac labs that are awesome. There's plenty of spots to hang out, for us commuters in between classes.

    Am learning a lot

Professors here are great! They really know what they're teaching. I've found that almost all of my professors genuinely enjoy their jobs. They care about your education, and will do their best to make you learn lots!

    Food and Dining

Catered by Sodexo, the food is pretty good for college. There are 5-6 stations that stay the same each night, but with plenty of options to mix it up and one station that has a special each weekday night. The only downside is that you pay for each item you eat, so if you buy a chicken sandwich with fries, you will pay for the chicken sandwich and the fries. Students do not get a certain amount of meals per week they can use; students have are given a specific amount of money that dwindles as the students buy food.

    Campus Safety

It not safe campus when a news broad cast a student is missing then later on reported murder. I saw on bulletin board online Google you will find a student discover missing and her allegations by parent to find the killer or resolution. It's still a mystery today about two yrs.ago.

    Clubs and Activities

I'm sure activities are excited for new student.

Great for these types of students

You will learn if put a lot of effort and read your material and turn in on time.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

I found it rare when I called for information the phone is hung up in my face. I think it very unprofessional to be rude just to avoid answers. I try to resolved a matter instead I'm going to hang up the phone now. I suppose a pattern of mistreated student even COCE and the Dean it was very weird. Maybe, I'm the first to speak poorly in thus matter and have gone unrestrained or reported.

    Bang for the buck

Southern NewHampshire should learn to respect their students complaints. The Instructor 's should provide a more positive response instead of Negatively critism. And be concerning toward student ideas and feeling optistimystic toward Instructor. Also should beable transfer a Student to another online classroom by a click of a buttoned. Often time being force in a situation can lead to a diseasily conflict of interest.

    What to do for fun

    Online student no recommendation.

    Food and Dining

I was online student not sure about food in cyberspace.

    Dorm Life

I was a online student so I wouldnt know much about it.

    Academic Rigor

I think academic Ad visor's are sort of kind just for a pay check. You may find a handful of concern Instructors who will help you become creative. But beware of their criticism they suppose think it come with territory. You will learn something before leaving even intensity which a can be ok. I rating 1 star for the criticisim that I doubt is awarding it should be a boarded line.

    Tips for prospective students

If you have a conflict about Instructor offered lower grade just because they can. Especial when you know you are good stand up for your rights. If they ignored your complaints simply contact a legal counselor or attorney's, in which I had to do to request a refund. No way I was accepting a F in Human Sexuality a easy course because of Instructor opinion for grammar. When in-fact I used a word process format and errors checker. You can forget the Dean and COCE will be on-board for the Instructors not you. SNHU is just out for the money not theirs students.

    In three sentences

My suggestion afterward experience at this particular University. I wouldn't recommended any student to SNHU, they are cruel when it comes to Instructor inapproachable response. They make student feeling horrible in grammar errors or punctually. The worst University I have ever attended hybrid online. If you've been out a longer time and warming up forget it like a conspiracy's.

Greek Life is not a huge thing on campus although there are sororities and fraternities. It is very different and the people who are in them are not your stereotypical type of people.

    Clubs and Activities

There are a lot of clubs on campus and if they do not have a club that suits your interests, you can easily start your own club!

    Campus Safety

As a private university we have public safety and only have cops on campus if they are called. They are much more patient that cops in my opinion and one receives many citations before enforcement is involved.

    Greek Life

We have 3 sororities and 3 fraternities on campus. Each is extremely involved and growing every semester. Greek life is viewed in a positive manner.

    Clubs and Activities

At the start of ever semester, a club day is hosted where every club holds a table. This encourages every student on campus to get involved in some activity and find friends with the same interests.

Any students in an unusual program or needs help in an area

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

We have different suites available for different programs such as 3year programs and the honors programs around campus. Also every night the learning center is open for any student in any major that needs help.

    Bang for the buck

Even though many people view $40,000 a year as expensive, the 3year programs offered save a tremendous amount in tuition. Also the money spent is reflected in learning, buildings, and the best teachers available.

    What to do for fun

I joined a sorority on campus in my freshman year. The girls are all very close so I tend to spend a lot of time with them either going out in town or hanging inside for a movie night. There's always something to do both on campus and off.

    Food and Dining

There are so many options that even the pickiest eaters find many meals to enjoy. From gluten free sections to meals spacifically made for vegitarians, the options are endless. The food is all made in front of the student so everything can be customized to the students liking. Lines are kept short thanks to an experienced staff.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are large, clean, and kept very nice-looking. The school spares no expense into keeping the common rooms perfect with nice couches and large flat screens. With all of the amenities as well it promotes a great place for students to study and get to know one another to form lifelong friendships.

    Academic Rigor

In an honors program the workload can be rough, but the teachers are available to the students as much as they need it - most are even willing to come to campus to hold office hours on the weekends if students need the help.

    Campus Safety

Campus Safety is spectacular! We have had almost no incidents since SNHU has been open! There is tons of parking and SNHU is adding more each year, they drive around the parkinglots and have security cameras to ensure the safety of your car and you while you are on campus. Call boxes are placed throughout the campus and Campus Security is available 24/7 no matter what your problem is. Also Hooksett and Manchester police can arrive within 10minutes if needed.

    Greek Life

There are 3 or 4 different Greek sororities and 3 or 4 different fraternities. Every group is unique and welcoming. Although there is RUSH and Greek Week there are no frat or sorority houses. Hazing is taken very seriously and every Greek house prides it self on GPA, community service and what they do for SNHU.

There are new clubs and activities popping up every year. It is very easy to start a club on campus if you cant find one for your interest. Everyone is extremely involved here and often takes place in a few clubs as well as sports. SNHU has campus activities for students going on often as well as offers us discounted tickets to local sports games, water and thrill parks and movie theaters.

Even though SNHU is not on the water and does not have a beach on campus (although we do have a pool) it has become a tradition to have SNHU Beach where everyone brings their radios, towels and wears their bathing suits. We play volleyball and have cookouts on the main soccer field in the center of campus and this becomes SNHU Beach! Also, we have a Late Night Breakfast every semester before finals to enjoy one last night of fun before studying for finals.

    Bang for the buck

SNHU may seem like an average to more expensive school for tuition costs, but that is because SNHU is a private college and also gives away about a million dollars a year in academic scholarships to students at every grade level, commuters, online or on-campus students. SNHU also puts most of the money it takes for tuition back into the school. SNHU has just recently built new classroom buildings and a new cafeteria. This year and over the next few years SNHU is acquiring more land and building a new library, more parking (including a parking garage) and moregreen area for sports and recreation.

    What to do for fun

SNHU is only 5mins from downtown Manchester and downtown Hooksett. Both cities offer movie theaters, tons of food variety, the Verizon Wireless Arena has concerts every week from major bands and artists. On campus SNHU is always doing some kind of campus event every week. The late night breakfast and SNHU beach have become SNHU traditions :)

    Food and Dining

Lots of choices!! The Traditions station changes up every day for each day always giving you a great home-cook meal and the taste of home. SNHU also has a Mexican, Stir-Fry, Sandwich, Burgers/chicken, Salad, Pizza and Sushi stations!!

    Dorm Life

SNHU is constantly upgrading their old dorms or building new dorms for the growing SNHU on-campus community. Everyone loves living here and every floor and dorm becomes like a family. RA's are always friendly, supportive, helpful and become friends as well as mentors and advisors.

    Academic Rigor

Some classes you have to work extremely hard at to earn a B, other classes you can pretty easily maintain an A. It depends on the teacher and the class, but most teachers are in the middle and you definitely have to pay attention and keep up with the work or reading to maintain good grades in any class.

    Tips for prospective students

    - Talk to you adviser as soon as you have a question - Keep up you're good grades, you will be rewarded with lots of academic scholarship - Stay in contact with you're teachers, talk to them (they are people too!) They are an awesome business contacts and sources of recommendations! - Re-invent yourself on your first day; be that person you have always wanted to be. Campus in Manchester NH is great but it is Manchester NH. Maine campus is much better.

    Clubs and Activities

Have no chosen any yet but they have a long list!

Great for these types of students

All types of students. They offer different ways to attend and offer special help to those who need it. Any student could do well here with effort.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Southern New Hampshire University does have a campus I can get to and many gatherings for all students. I am very happy with the variety this school offers.

    Bang for the buck

I definitely feel I am getting my monies worth. For me the convenience of the online with an option of campus is perfect. I want to take an on-campus photography course and am looking forward to being on campus for a semester.

    What to do for fun

I love the beach in the summer and skiing in the winter. I'm in Portland Maine so I have great location for both. Once out of college with a good career I plan to enjoy them more. Fun right now is knowing I might be broke but bills are paid!

    Food and Dining

As an online student I do not go to campus often but I have had the pleasure of eating on campus.

    Dorm Life

I am an online student. Dorms in Manchester NH are available

    Academic Rigor

Online they are short terms. Keeping on top of things is a must.

    Tips for prospective students

Southern New Hampshire University will give you an advisor and you should use them. Ask the questions you need to if they don't know they will find out for you. Keep in contact with them.

    In three sentences

I am very satisfied with Southern New Hampshire University so far. I am in my second term and with harder classes I am starting to use all the helpful tools and resources that are available to me. The staff and teachers have been friendly and knowledgeable which has made adding school into my life easier.

    Campus Safety

Our school does unfortunately lack on this a lot. We have public safety for emergencies but they do not carry anything threatening (besides a club) and are not police officers. We also do not have very good campus security. The dorms can only be opened if you live there or a friend lets you in BUT all other buildings are open to the public. Luckily we live in a safe part of NH so we rarely have problems. We also host self defense classes for students who are interested. For the most part is it safe and you can call public safety ANYTIME if you feel unsafe and they will find you asap. Just be aware of your surrounding at night (like any place in general).

    Greek Life

We have 3 fraternities and 3 sororities. They do not have their own frat houses etch but they do usually try to live together. They do a lot of cool events on campus and lots of awesome community service.

    Clubs and Activities

We have a club for just about everything! I'm not kidding. Check out the list of club on the SNHU website. It's crazy!

Great for these types of students

    ALL TYPES!!!

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

We have great annual events like: SNHUstock = up and coming bands perform for campus along with crazy fun activities like mechanical bulls, blow up houses, cards for the troops, photo booths, wax hands, fried dough tables, tie dye tables, etc. International Gala = international students put on an AMAZING show to teach SNHU about their native cultures. They have international food for dinner and it is a formal event so its a great excuse to dress up too! Batter Battles Cupcake competition = the Cake Decorating Club hosts a competition where students from all majors compete for the best cupcake guests get food, tasting portions of all cupcakes, get to vote on the People's choice cupcake and go home with a box of cupcakes. It's a sweet night. Gay Pride Week = week long celebration with assorted fun events, guest speakers, comedians, giveaways, and more :)

    Bang for the buck

I won't lie, SNHU is expensive. We do have lots of scholarships that you can apply for once you get here every January though. The financial aid office is always willing to work with students if money becomes a problem. The money from the student fees goes to funding the clubs, sports teams, etc. So that way the students always have things to do. We are also expanding fast so we have new buildings popping up everywhere like our new library. Definitely discuss money with your guardian or if you are on your own make sure to meet with the One Stop staff to discuss your options.

    What to do for fun

LOTS of stuff to do on campus and off for fun. We have campus trips (like to six flags, the Boston aquarium, Vermont foliage, etc.) that are VERY cheap (ranging from 5 to 10 dollars a ticket). We have our annual giant spring concert where famous singers perform for campus (like kip Moore, Time Flies, and Sammy Adams) We get to vote on who comes! We have constant event hosted by the many clubs on campus. Joining one of our clubs is also a great time. We literally have a club for just about anything and you can start your own if you are passionate. Exploring Manchester is also a lot of fun. They have great events in town like the Xmas parade. We are also located close to the Mall of NH for great shopping. AND we are maybe 4 minutes from a rather large movie theater with IMAX screens!

    Food and Dining

Though some may say otherwise, I LOVE the food here. Our menu at the dining hall changes every day! We have 7 different stations in the dining hall that are constantly serving new food items. We also have a completely student run restaurant thanks to the culinary program which serves AMAZING food for a low price (you cannot use your meal plan at the restaurant though so make sure you have backup funds). There will always be something great to eat here!

    Dorm Life

We have a large variety of different types of dorms on campus. We have standard dorm rooms, pod living, apartments, and townhouses. We also have resident learning communities and a brand new dorm building that are like classy dorm rooms for singles or doubles (communal bathrooms). As a freshman try to get your housing selection in early that way you are most likely to get the room you want. If you wait you could be put in our dorms that were built in the 70's. DON'T WAIT! Living on campus has it's up and downs. We have A LOT of event on campus that are constantly taking place during the week and on the weekends. We also have a pub which sells alcohol to students of age and hosts dances every weekend. We have student plays, movie showings, food events, trips, and more. Some weekends are really packed with cool campus events and others are a little slower which give you time to do projects or socialize with people in your dorm building. Don't forget to explore Manchester too! But just as a warning we are a WET campus but most of our dorms are deemed dry dorms. If you are uncomfortable around alcohol you can apply to be on the wellness floor which is a floor in our dorm halls that is for students who wish to be completely substance free. (this will avoid those crazy drunken roommate situations)

    Academic Rigor

I'm giving this 4 stars because it all depends on the class and the professor. You could have class that is so easy that you can do it in your sleep and you could have a class that will have so much work that you will loose sleep. You may also be taking the same class as a friend and you may get barely any homework but your friend will be up to their necks in work from the same class (assume you just have different professors). Definitely talk to upper classmen and ask which professors suit your workstyle. Ask which ones you will be able to learn the most from. Our professors are all goldmines of information regardless of how difficult or easy their class is.

    Tips for prospective students

If you have a car I would suggest bringing it. Even if you are a freshman (since you have to pay a bigger fee to park on campus)! We have a lot of great local restaurants, stores, and fun destinations that are close by but they are NOT in walking distance. Having some form of transportation to use on the weekends or during the week will be very helpful. ALSO bring lots of warm clothes, we are a NH school and we tend to get some pretty cold weather. We have had a blizzard every year that I have been here. Lots of layers and snow boots! AND snow gear for your car! (ice picks, ice remover spray, etc.)

    In three sentences

We are a small campus but we are growing every year and we are known for our small class sizes that are designed for personal attention. There is always something to do on campus. We provide great support for student studies which includes our tutoring sessions and professors who are available to help you outside of class.

    Bang for the buck

the tuition is a little high, but I've seen higher. They are accredited, and had the program I wanted in an online format, so I took a chance. Couldn't be happier with what I'm paying for. The staff are kind, and always helpful, and communicate well.

    Academic Rigor

The courses are definitely challenging. As an online student, I can definitely say that my expectations have been met. As an important note, I would like to share that their online math courses are very rigorous, and not what I expected. Taking math online is a challenge in it of itself, but SNHU executes it very well. Motivation to learn and work on your own is key.

    Tips for prospective students

Always communicate what you're expectations are to the staff - they are there to help you, and are on your side. It would be wise to keep track of your own degree program requirements and that you are registering for the right courses. This isn't difficult to do, as all this information is available in one location online - the student portal. However, the students here are adults, especially in the online format, and the staff expect put certain responsibilities on the student for reaching out when they need something. If you are ever unsure about something, email your counselor. I have never received a response later than 24 hours, and sometimes a phone call is what I'll get instead of an email reply!

    In three sentences

SNHU has a very helpful staff, challenging online courses, and a well organized online format for accessing your classes and online resources. the professors I have had are all quick to respond to questions, and my academic counselor calls me to check in on how I am doing. Communication is very important to the staff at SNHU, and they show it.

This school is in a great location! I feel that the tuition is average, after all I feel we are the best school here in New England! There is so much that SNHU has to offer: great dorms, good food, awesome faculty and staff. Plenty of fun to be had with so many activities continuous throughout the weeks and month. As far as academic help, there is a huge support staff!

    What to do for fun

Lots and lots of clubs on campus to join. Get involved with a club, even a sport. There are many places to go to also, such as ski, snowboarding, bowling and movie theatre all close by. If you want to soak up the sun, Hampton Beach is not too far away either!

    Campus Safety

While not on campus, I've not seen SNHU in the news, so that's a good thing.

    Clubs and Activities

There are online clubs, but they seem to die when traditional students go home for the summer. You do make enough friends that socializing through other avenues like FB is easy enough.

Great for these types of students

If you want a real degree, but need flexibility. This is one of the few colleges that is worthwhile for distance education. The cost is reasonable, and the classes are as real as anything on campus.

    Bang for the buck

The financial value was the reason I chose SNHU. I'm returning to school after a long hiatus and already feel that it's well worth every penny. The online classes that I take are stimulating with real quality, not like for-profit colleges I checked out.

    What to do for fun

The campus has lots of clubs and organizations and well situated for local life. Being an online learner, however, I'm not part of it. There are some online organizations for people like me and they do provide some needed camaraderie.

    Food and Dining

I am an online learner, but my food is fabulous.

    Dorm Life

I am an online learner, so I can't speak to the dorms.

    Academic Rigor

I'm taking online courses, so they are reading heavy. My degree path is balanced between very in depth technical classes and some business management courses that are a little less research focused. My B.S. in Information Technology will not only prepare me for my specified career, but comes with a solid backbone for management roles.

    Tips for prospective students

Consider blending online learning and campus education; the online class will give you some flexibility on schedule, but the campus experience is something everyone should try. Advisors are there to advise. Don't wait until a problem is too big. Try to balance research heavy classes against another class that is less rigorous to keep from burning out.

The application process is straightforward. There are multiple avenues for engaging with the student community. The class workload is completely manageable.

If a student is looking for a great online school I recommend Southern New Hampshire University. Their website is user friendly, and their staff is always ready to assist you. They are some of the nicest professionals I have ever met and dealt with. They are very genuine.

    Bang for the buck

When I initially conducted my search for online schools, SNHU was highly ranked for having the lowest cost for tuition. What also attracted me is that they are are a non-profit institution, which was an indication that they have humanitarian approach to education vs. a capitalistic one.

    Food and Dining

The food and dining is great!

    Dorm Life

Since I attend school from home I have to say they have the best accommodations.

    Academic Rigor

I find that SNHU has a very challenging curriculum that is well paced and rewarding. They do a great job in incorporating the most current research and scientific data. And the eight week terms enable you to make rapid progress toward your academic goals.

    Tips for prospective students

If I were to give advice to new students I would say to take advantage of community college courses to keep your college debt down. I personally prefer online courses, but when I was looking for schools I had a hard time finding an Associates degree program online. This led me to sign up for online schooling and paying a little more than I had planned to with loans. Instead of getting my Associates degree and getting my core classes out the way I am now paying more for schooling because now I have to pay for these course online.

    In three sentences

I enrolled in SNHU in 2012 and I have love it from the very beginning. The staff is very warm and friendly, plus they are all knowledgeable. The professors are well versed and fair, and I am looking forward to my next course.
