    Campus Safety

The campus is small and each building is connected, providing secure and easy access to different classes. In addition, emergency phones are available in several areas of the campus.

    Clubs and Activities

Many student associations are available for each degree program.

Great for these types of students

    Any and all.

    Bang for the buck

SWTC is affordable in comparison to many other private or public colleges. Although a 2 year college, it provides the same level of academic challenge as many 4 year colleges. In addition, many courses are available online and credits from previously attended colleges can be easily transferred.

    What to do for fun

SWTC offers many fun activities throughout the year, including fun runs, obstacle courses, and talent shows in addition to many other activities.

    Food and Dining

I do not eat the meal services provided, but have heard they are good.

    Dorm Life

Dorms aren't available, but student housing in the form of homey apartments are available.

    Academic Rigor

If I could, I would add five more stars! The nursing program is definitely demanding, but so worthwhile. In order to pass each nursing class, students must achieve an 80% or better. An A requires a 92%, which is no small feat considering the content and amount of homework and knowledge required. Rest assured that if you complete your nursing degree, you will be as prepared as possible for the nursing world.

    Tips for prospective students

If you decide to attend SWTC for nursing, prepare to WORK. As a full-time student, studying takes up a majority of my day. However, studying alone isn't enough to be successful in this program. You have to WANT it. You can't simply want to be a nurse for the job security or pay alone; you have to have a genuine desire to help others when they're at their worst.

    In three sentences

SWTC is an excellent, affordable option for individuals from all walks of life. Specifically, the nursing program, while difficult, offers students with the knowledge and skills necessary to being an aware, responsible, and conscientious nurse. The instructors are amazing, demonstrating genuine compassion for students and encouraging and supporting students to succeed.

    Campus Safety

I feel Southwest Tech is a safe place to be.

    Clubs and Activities

There is Student Ambassador. They give tours around campus. Student Senate have activities that students can join in if they want. Almost all of the programs have their own clubs that the students can join.

    What to do for fun

Student Senate comes up with a lot of different activities we can do. We had an obstacle course in the fall. We have an all school picnic at the beginning of the year. Our Student Rec Room is currently being remodeled so it will be bigger and have more things for students to do in it.

    Food and Dining

We all have different schedules for lunch so it is kind of hard to have lunch with your friends some days. My program likes to bring their lunch to the library area or to our classroom and eat there.

    Academic Rigor

The instructors want to see you do your best. They will help you with anything. They will help get you in the right direction if you need more resources. They are really nice and easy to get along with. I have not ran into one yet that was there to not help you.

    Tips for prospective students

It is a friendly environment. Southwest Tech is a smaller school which allows you to interact with more of the students even if they are not in the same program as you. Most of the majors have pretty easy schedules for time wise. You can go to any instructor and ask for help. The instructors are a lot of fun and like to make their classes fun as well.

    In three sentences

Southwest Tech has great instructor's that are always wanting to see their students succeed. Southwest Tech also has a great support system. You can walk up to any of the instructors and they are always willing to help you out.

Great for these types of students

Any. Especially students who don't like large crowds or large classroom sizes, and great for non traditional students/returning adult.

    Bang for the buck

I am really considering this school for the friendly knowledgeable staff and support that seems to be offered.

    Food and Dining

I have only ate there once. I had a grilled chicken sandwich which was good.

    Academic Rigor

They have a lot of classes/programs to offer in a very nice small college.

    Tips for prospective students

Be ready to experience a very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Come prepared with your questions and they will have the answer. If they don't have the answer, they will try and find out while you are there.

    In three sentences

Very friendly staff. In the financial aid office, the person I spoke with was very helpful, and helped me in more ways than I expected. Advisor was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable.

    Greek Life

    None.

Great for these types of students

If you are tough and don't cry when teachers are yelling at you and degrading you, this is for you!

    What to do for fun

Search online for other nursing schools.

    Academic Rigor

You will get very little out of classes. The classes are just to weed students out. You can learn if you study on your own.

    Tips for prospective students

Check out NICC! A bit more expensive but you get what you pay for!

    In three sentences

The nursing program is horrible. Run away before you get too invested to go somewhere else! The classes have the highest fail rates I have ever seen and the teachers lack empathy and compassion. Actual pass rates of classes I have been in: 37% and 20%. They don't tell you that when you apply...
