Categories Comments Great for these types of students -Those seeking a small college. -Those who want easy access to Downtown Rochester.
Bang for the buck Activities wise: I'm not sure how many more clubs are needed. However, if you feel like nothing catches your attention, you could always petition to start a new club.
Am enjoying being here Fisher is a close-knitted community. There is both good and bad which can be associated with this. The good is that everyone knows everyone so helpful people are just about everywhere. There are also lots of great activities which you can get immersed in. The bad is that it's hard to see new faces after a while.
Am learning a lot As an upcoming senior, I've realized just how much I've learned in the past few years. Knowledge goes beyond the classroom though and I was able to attend Macquarie University in Australia during my junior year. All my financial aid transferred which made the affordability of studying abroad easier. The C/J professors have extensive knowledge in their field and the classes are a lot more entertaining and practical once you move past the theory portions.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Outgoing students, education or biology/chemistry majors. People who aren't afraid of having too many student loans.
Tips for prospective students Don't be too nervous when you first start. It's really not as bad as you think. I was terrified and there was no reason to be. The peer adviser you get for the first semester and orientation team is really nice, don't be afraid to ask them questions. Don't worry about making a fool of yourself during orientation (especially not Playfair!). Everyone is nervous and if one person can start to make jokes, everyone will be more comfortable.
Bang for the buck The meal plan is extremely expensive but the food is amazing. A sandwich station, grill, pizza & pasta bar, stir fry, salad bar, bagel/toast station, deserts, cereal, and 5 places where they have specials of the day... it's well worth the price. There's also cafes around campus that take meal swipes and a late night cafe. The bookstore is more expensive than it should be so try to get your books somewhere else. It's a little pricey, but there are merit scholarships as well as an Honors program and Science Scholars that will give you money if you apply and get in.
Am enjoying being here There are a lot of sponsored activities...movie nights, comedians, henna tattoos, caricatures, trips, Sunday night football. A huge number of clubs that you can join. Living in a small dorm room with 2 other people and sharing a bathroom with 5 people can be a little hard, but it isn't as bad as I thought it would be.
Am learning a lot Some of the classes aren't too hard or very interesting, but Fisher has an outstanding science program for nursing or heathcare majors as well as a great education program. I'm currently undeclared and have been taking a wide array of classes. The anthropology classes are unique and made me start to seriously consider majoring in anthropology. The English classes are very interesting too. As a freshman, you're required to take a joint English and content class. Together they teach you how to transform what you learn into a good writing piece.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Weekly emails are sent out to inform students of happenings on-campus and in the area. The security staff patrols the campus at all times and definitely ensures the safety of all students and faculty.
Greek Life There is no on campus Greek Life.
Clubs and Activities Clubs on campus are available for every major that really embodies the education in the class room and ties in real life experiences. These hands on clubs will look great on a resume, as well as create a well rounded individual upon graduating college.
Great for these types of students Athletes, Outgoing individuals, small school lovers
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Fish Bowl is a late night restaurant in which students meet up after homework or before bed to relax, eat food, and clear their minds of a long day. The Teddi Dance for love is a 24 hour dance-a-thon which raises money for childhood cancer in accordance with Camp Good Days and Special Times. Thousands of participants and dollars are raised each year by members of the community and the school as well. Each fall, Fisher participates in a charity football game with a local college at a neutral site to raise money for Camp Good Days, and incorporates many children who have, or are currently battling life threatening diseases.
Bang for the buck A bit on the expensive side, Fisher is a private institution that has quality instruction and an extensive network of working class professionals around the world.
What to do for fun Located just minutes from downtown Rochester, professional sports are available year round to any sport lover. Eastview Mall is minutes from the college, with accessible shuttles available on weekends. Pittsford Plaza is home to the original Wegman's grocery store, as well as a Barnes and Noble, several high end restaurants, and other shopping options.
Food and Dining Our campus dining services are one of the best in the area. Whether you are in the mood for stir-fry, create-your-own pasta dishes, or fresh off the grill burgers, you will never grow tired of the food on campus.
Dorm Life Many freshman are placed into co-ed dorms however students are able to decide if they would like to be in all female or single dorm rooms. Dorms are within 5 minutes (sometimes shorter) of the heart of campus, and are very clean and secure for all students.
Academic Rigor Regardless of the intended program of study, Fisher will guarantee each student gains a quality education while attending the college. Professors truly care for the advancement of their students and push them for their best work at all times. Many quality internships are also available within the Rochester area.
Tips for prospective students Make sure a small sized campus is truly where you want to be. Meet as many people as you can and always open your mind to new opportunities. Stay on top of your studies, work hard, and above all; have fun!
In three sentences St John Fisher College incorporates a close knit community feel with an outstanding education by professors who truly care about their students. Categories Comments Campus Safety Fisher is an extremely safe campus. The campus is small and the staff does a good job keeping it safe. The campus is also located in a really nice part of East Rochester.
Greek Life No greek life.
Great for these types of students Athletes, people looking to get involved in clubs.
What to do for fun On campus there are usually a lot of things that go on, such as bingo, or comedians, and concerts. Many of these activities give you a chance to win things. Sporting events are also good to go to. Off campus there are fun bars downtown and different sport houses that usually have parties on the weekends.
Food and Dining The main dining hall is pretty good compared to other colleges. They do offer a good variety and they do change the main courses everyday. There are also a few other places to eat on campus, but not many. I am not to fond of the meal plan system at Fisher which allows you to swipe only at certain times of the day.
Dorm Life Personally, I've had a good dorm life experience due to the people that I have roomed with and that I live by. On the down side Fisher's dorms are pretty small and do not get much bigger unless you live in Founders, which is usually only available to Seniors. On the plus side Fisher is a wet campus, as long as everyone else in your dorm is 21.
Academic Rigor Some classes are much more challenging depending on the professors, and also on what your major is. However, Fisher offers a wide variety of opportunities to get help. Freshman year when I had a hard time transitioning I met with some tutors which helped me a lot.
Tips for prospective students Fisher has a lot of opportunities to get involved, so I suggest taking part in something if you are not in a sport. Additionally Fisher is not a huge party school, but there is still things to do on the weekends. If you are looking for a big party school with frats and sororities then this school is not for you.
In three sentences If you are looking for a college that is on the small side but not too small, St. John Fisher College is the perfect place. The class sizes give you a chance to get to know your professors and build relationships with them. The campus is extremely safe, and is in a great location.

Categories Comments Food and Dining plenty of places to get a bite to eat! mostly restaurant type setting.
Dorm Life rooms seem very small, and though i have not visited any other colleges yet this seems abnormal.
Academic Rigor plenty of academic options, honors programs, and opportunities to study abroad. i was disappointed to find that biochemistry is only offered as a concentration, though.
In three sentences this was the first college i have visited. overall, it seems like a fine school but not quite right for me. i did like the idea of internships and research with the u of r and nazareth, though.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Security is nuts there! You will always be safe.
Clubs and Activities There is so much to do if you get involved, and if its not there you can sure create it and people will join!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The football team runs the school.
Bang for the buck Don't go to the school if you don't know what you want to do, otherwise you are just wasting money on their liberal arts core credits, that you have to take!
What to do for fun Downtown Rochester is a great place and so much fun! There is always a great night life. There is everything you need surrounding the school, a mall and tons of places to eat.
Tips for prospective students Go above and beyond to get involved with the school, other wise it's just not fun.
In three sentences St. John fisher is a great place to go if you want to go to a small school were the professors like to work with you. The only bad thing is it's so small that it's kinda like high school. Don't do something you think people will never find out about, because eventually they will.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There are not that many things to do actually on the campus for fun besides go to the gym for leisure activities. Downtown there are nightclubs that are open for people 18 and up.
Food and Dining The St. john Fisher dining hall is very spacious and they have a variety of foods to choose from. However the food begins to taste the same and i don't eat in the dining hall that much anymore.
Dorm Life As you progress and obtain more credits your dorm life will become better. While none of the dorms are horrible some of them are not air-conditioned and can get very warm. The upperclassmen dorms are air-conditioned and are much more spacious such as Founder's and Keough.
Academic Rigor Not all but some of the courses can be rigorous such as the science curriculum. Other courses can be enjoyable and you will learn alot from the professors.
Tips for prospective students If you plan on coming to Fisher you should come with a strong academic background. Some of the classes can be very hard but there is support if needed.
In three sentences St. John Fisher is a great school when it comes to academics and provides great options and variety when it comes to classes. While the school is very small there are various club options to choose from and I happen to be involved in a club as well. Most people are very friendly and the dorms are maintained well.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus is a very safe place to be! There are always security cars driving around making sure nothing is happening and there are blue lights in case you are walking and there is an emergency. St. John Fisher has a very family oriented nature and people are willing to help no matter who they are. I feel very comfortable here.
What to do for fun For fun there is so much to do, since St. John Fisher is in the middle of lots of other villages and towns. We are near Rochester so there are always fun events going on there. We are in Pittsford, where there are restaurants, ice cream places, a movie theaters and much more! Market Place Mall and East View Mall are both near by and there are shuttles that take you places certain hours of the days and weekends!
Food and Dining The food at St. John Fisher is great! There are many options, such as pasta, sandwiches, pizza, or normal breakfast foods and desserts, all the time! I am usually never disappointed with my meals here on campus.
Dorm Life Living in the dorms is a nice experience. Much different from home, but there is a social community in dorms that you cannot receive while at home. You make friends and learn more about who you really are as a person.
Academic Rigor The academics are tough at first but you get used to everything. It's harder than high school but it's very do able if you choose your time wisely. Always stay for extra help if you need it and take advantage of teacher's office hours!
Tips for prospective students Make sure you do your work and attend class. As long as you attend class and don't spend too much time with the social benefits of college but also study and make sure you're getting the educational aspect in also, college will be great.
In three sentences St. John Fisher college is a nice small school where the community is very warming. Teachers help students on a personal level and extra help is not frowned upon. It's a great place to go if you enjoy a tight knit community and want a good education along with it.

Bang for the buck I feel like although tuition is high, I am learning so much and having great experiences. With my involvement, I am making connections that will help me with my career.
What to do for fun The activities clubs on campus put on several activities on campus for all students. There is usually something to do or a sporting activity to do if you have free time from studying!

Dorm Life St. John Fisher freshman dorms have two variations; two rooms connected by one bathroom or separate rooms and a community bathroom. The halls are clean and updated and the Resident Assistants are spectacular.
Academic Rigor The academics at Fisher are challenging but you can succeed if you try and ask for help. Once you succeed, you are acknowledged, it does not go unnoticed.
