Extra curricular Activities, sports events, Taffner Field house, etc...

You can take a 45 minute train ride to the city and have endless fun, but there are also things do do around Queens. There are a number of movie theatres, bars and museums close by.

Plenty of activities on campus, clubs, organizations, dorm events, parties, carnivals, activities get better as the weather progresses.

There is usually some kind of event going on, but if not there are cheap tickets available for movies, Broadway performances and other local attractions.

I like to do service. There are always opportunities to do service! You can join a club if you have nothing to do. You can also play volleyball of basketball in Taffner or play games in the lounge or the game room.

Honestly, the only things around campus that I found were fun were the drama club (They put on excellent performances), the gym, the dance and singing cabarets held frequently, going to basketball games (Go Redstorm!), joining Greek Life if you're into that sort of thing, or going to the city/other boroughs to club or just explore. This school is in New York City! Take advantage of it!

We have a D1 sports program, so the sporting events are definitely fun to attend. There are also hundreds of clubs and organizations that students can join.

There are a couple of bars in the immediate area that many students go to, St. John's is a bus and Subway ride away from Manhattan or Brooklyn so many students explore there on the weekends. The area around the campus is mostly residential, so there is not too much to do, but we always find something.

You're only twenty minutes away from the city, where you can go out and explore the city that never sleeps.

You can play intramural sports, join clubs, go to campus activities. If you don't want to stay on campus, you can go in to the city (New York City).
