    Tips for prospective students

for every one hour you are in class, study that class for tow hours

    Bang for the buck

DEFINITELY a great investment. There is a great price and I strongly recommend this college

    Am enjoying being here

There is usually something to do around here. There is rarely a dull day here, but of course, there are indeed some dull days.

    Am learning a lot

The teachers will most definitely work with you whenever you are either falling behind or simply have questions and need extra help. Along with that, there is free tutoring among most subjects.

Great for these types of students

This school is good for science and nursing majors. They give comprehensive work that will help you succeed.

    Tips for prospective students

Work hard, ask questions, get a tutor, and get your work and to work (class) on time. Make sure you don't put all your study into one bulge into three hours, but study for an hour then take a half hour break. Make sure when you read don't read it straight through, but read it meta-cognitively. And don't high-light your text books. Use a fine-point felt tip pen when doing your studying.

    Bang for the buck

    It is worth your money.

    Am enjoying being here

Even though the people, such as teachers and other students, smile alot this place really is a good place to be. And it's very easy to make friends here like my friends from the Bridge Program, Sade, Monica, Mike2, Akram, Jolie, and Shaniqua

    Am learning a lot

The teacher go the extra mile to break down the material and explain it more depth if you don't understand. They want to expand your mind on their subject at hand.

Great for these types of students

Enjoys smaller classes not huge lecture halls and likes interacting with others.

    Tips for prospective students

Just work hard and focus on your studies and you'll be fine.

    Bang for the buck

You have so many resources available to you for free! You can even text a librarian a question and they'll text back with your answer!

    Am enjoying being here

They have so many activities to do around campus! There's usually something fun to do everyday. It's nice to hang out with friends and do something free in between classes.

    Am learning a lot

Courses here are great and the professors are very helpful! They want you to pass and will help you in every way that they can.

If you are looking for: a more intimate classroom setting. - Smaller class sizes - Personal relationships with teachers Quiet surroundings Positive open minded people and a good college experience Then Stevenson University is the place for you.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure that you actually study and turn in your assignments. Every little bit of time you dedicate to your studies the better off you will be. But don't forget to make friends and have fun it'll make your time at Stevenson even better.

    Bang for the buck

The school is a great price, just have to make sure that you keep on top of your financial aid or it could be a little overwhelming.

    Am enjoying being here

The enviornment is very positive. You rarely see a negative person and there is always something to do. It does have it's moments where you get bored but that's up to the individual.

    Am learning a lot

The teachers here at SU are very straight forward and are very concerned about your grades and status in the class. If it looks like you're falling behind they take the time to ask you what can they do to help you.

Great for these types of students

If you are coming to stevenson to be a nursing major this is the best school to attend. This is their most popular major and 99% of students who graduates from stevenson university as a nursing major passes the licensing exam on the first attempt to become a registered nurse. In my opionion, that is excellent. So I encourage every student who is interested in nursing to apply to Stevenson University because they have the best nuring program that I know of.

    Tips for prospective students

My advice to the future prospective students is to study very hard and please, please, please have an organized time schedule to where you know the times of your classes, when you eat and most importantly SLEEP!! try to attend all of your classes because a missed class can really affect you in your grades and completed assignments. When you start your courses your freshmen year, start off strong, put your best effort into your studies because if you don't it is so hard to catch up later on when the end of the semester arrives. If you are staying on campus in the resident halls, your Stevenson ID card and your Residential dorm key will become your best friend because losing it will not be a fun experience. You will use these items almost everyday.

    Bang for the buck

In all honesty, this university is a little expensive but they give out numerous scholarships, and if you are in good academic standing and has accomplished good things in high school such as sports, club organizations and community service you will most likely receive a scholarship. I love how this school gives you opportunities to earn scholarships just by showing what you have accomplished in high school and what you can bring forth to the university. All the money that you have to pay to attend the school is worth it because the school provides us good courses to take each year, good meals to eat and several activities held throughout the university each week.

    Am enjoying being here

I enjoy living on campus at Stevenson University. The residential halls are amazing. Everything is clean and organized, I feel very secure at this university. We are given ID cards to receive access to meals, on campus buildings and off campus stores for discounts. Th e social environment at Stevenson University is good; everyone is so welcoming and friendly. It is very easy to make friends at Stevenson University because it is a small campus so it is easier to know everyone. The athletic sports at this university is interesting because in the year of 2011 the first football team was formed, the soccer team and lacrosse was also popular at this university. We had a great homecoming in 2011, coming into the university as a freshmen is one of the most memorable experiences I will never forget.

    Am learning a lot

The courses that I have taken currently in my first semester freshmen year have been really helpful towards my studies as a nursing major. I have taken courses such as sociology, basic statistics, English and beginning acting. I was a little reluctant about my acting class because I had never taken a course such as this. My biggest fear was standing in front of others and performing and shyness. Eventually, I developed well in this course. I started to like it. Beginning acting taught me to speak loudly and I discovered acting skills I never knew I had. I became very close to other peers in my class. Stevenson University has helped me get out of my comfort zone; I am experiencing and learning new things every day. This university pushes the students to do their very best on whatever major you are studying in. The faculty at Stevenson University is also helpful and caring to the students.

    Campus Safety

There is always a guard around and they too are friendly and helpful. I once locked my keys in my car in the pouring down rain and Campus Security got my keys out of my car and waited for me to get in before leaving.

    Greek Life

There are two sororities on campus but I don't think there are any fraternities.

    Clubs and Activities

There are Sororities, clubs for a wide range of interests such as horseback riding and graphic design and sports teams that range from lacrosse to football.

Great for these types of students

Stevenson is great for any major but especially Nursing, Business, and Art majors.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Greenspring's art gallery and theatre is great.

    Bang for the buck

Stevenson is a private University but the people are great and helpful and you get a well-rounded education.

    What to do for fun

Stevenson is located near Baltimore so there are a lot of things for students to do there such as the Science Center and the Aquarium. Artists come frequently on campus to talk about their careers and show their art. There is also school and club sponsored activities.

    Food and Dining

There are two campus's at Stevenson- one in Owing Mills and one in Greenspring. The food at Greenspring is really well done with a small cafeteria like place and a sub shop where students can buy school food. At Owings Mills there is a large eating hall at the Rockland center; the food here has an extensive selection but isn't as good as the Greenspring food.

    Dorm Life

Stevenson is in an area where students at the university can either commute to school or live on campus. First year dorms are what to be expected but sophomore and later students can apply to get small on campus 'apartments' that are extremely nice.

    Academic Rigor

Like most schools the difficultly of classes is mostly due to the teachers. There are a lot of teachers who have heavy work-loads and will make you work for the grade you get.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't be afraid to ask the staff at Stevenson; the people are friendly and will try their best to help you with your problems. Get involved in the Stevenson campus.

    In three sentences

Stevenson is a up-and-coming University with a wide range of programs and degrees. It is filled with wonderful and helpful people that can get you on the academic career you want. There a lot of activities for students to participate in such as clubs, art showings, and workshops.

The money is very expensive but I can truly say that it's worth every penny.

    Am enjoying being here

There is always something to do here. There are always many activities and events to be a part of...there is barely a dry day here.

    Am learning a lot

The teachers are always willing to work with you one on one. The classes are small which is an advantage as the teacher is able to pay more attention to each of the student's needs. There is also free tutoring and Supplemental Instructors available for specific classes.

    Bang for the buck

Stevenson University is one of the most affordable independent universities in the country. If you go online to Stevenson University Tuituion & Fees they offer a complete page of estimated tuition and fees including housing and meal plans.

    Will enjoy being here

Resident life at SU strives to create a residential community that goes beyond the traditional dormitory setting. The staff works not only to ensure that University housing is safe, clean, and well-maintained, but also help students become active members of the Stevenson community.

    Will learn a lot

The Nursing program is phenomenal with a 98% passing rate. Important features of this option are the strong theoretical and clinical experiences.

    Campus Safety

Most buildings are secured with card key access.

    Greek Life

    Several sororities, but no fraternities.

    Clubs and Activities

So many, its hard to decide.

Great for these types of students

They have something for everyone; great for all types.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

SU recently purchased land near campus to expand. Its rumored to be haunted.

    Bang for the buck

According to my parents, no a la cart expenses. Tuition covers may of the extra costs such as laundry, copying, even the occasional trip to SubWay.

    What to do for fun

There are so many activities; some planned and some last minute.

    Food and Dining

There are several cafes on campus and the food is ok. But there are many restaurants near campus, and with my SU ID cards meals are subtracted directly from my SU account.

    Dorm Life

    Co-ed...enough said!

    Academic Rigor

The courses are what you would expect at the college level. SU offers both student and professional tutoring for anyone who may need it.

    Tips for prospective students

Take your time to look at all SU has to offer and visit often (they even offer an overnight visit).

    In three sentences

We visited several schools, but decided on SU because of its overall atmosphere. Its moderately sized with 2 campuses (1 urban/1 rural), there's plenty to do (on and off campus), and they have the newest technologies throughout the campus.

Great for these types of students

Students who: like small class sizes, want a small and friendly environment, want to live in a busier area but also have the choice of classes at the other quiet campus, who like to be involved with the college and go to many events on campus

    Tips for prospective students

Like some other people said, it is easy to get help so just ask if you need it. The teachers I've had won't hold your hand, but they are willing to help if you ask questions or go to them during office hours. There are also tutors, and some classes have SI sessions that can help you if you are confused on anything. There are a lot of ways to get help so take advantage of it.

    Bang for the buck

It might be expensive to someone who isn't involved in activities. There are tons of free campus events and opportunities which makes it worth the price.

    Am enjoying being here

I'm a commuter and have had almost all of my classes at the Greenspring campus since it's closer to my house. I really like the calm and nice environment, but still being close to the other campus in a busier area. Everyone seems nice and helpful.

    Am learning a lot

Most professors understand the material and are able to answer your questions and provide help.

Great for these types of students

Dedicated students, people who enjoy learning, people who know how to ask for help, people who can prioritize but also balance school with their social life.

    Tips for prospective students

Definitely not a party school, the social scene here is very different than at some of the bigger colleges. But if you're a dedicated student and/or athlete or performer, this can be a great opportunity. Definitely make friends with your teachers and take advantage of the tons of FREE and great services the school offers. Services like the Academic link, tutors, Smarthinking, etc. If you really apply yourself and take advantage of all you can you will be fine.

    Bang for the buck

I have a scholarship (which Stevenson gives out many scholarships) so the amount of money I have to pay is not at all bad. But it's a great school, with good equipment and a wholesome, clean, and great environment, so it's worth it. Without the financial aid, it would feel a little too expensive though.

    Am enjoying being here

I'm a commuter, so it's a little bit harder having a social life here. But for the most part, it's a nice school with very nice people from all sorts of backgrounds. Now if you're looking for a party school, that's a different story...

    Am learning a lot

The classes are a great size and the teachers are very knowledgable in their areas of expertise.

Great for these types of students

Students who like: ~ smaller classes ~participate in sports, and not always sit on the bench ~have fun in a urban and rural settings ~who want to be remembered by name and not a number

    Tips for prospective students

If you like smaller classes, but still want that full on college experience, Stevenson is the place for you. Stevenson is a place where you can feel at home, and you can still have fun with friends and family. Family is welcomed on campus, and not just on Family Weekends. Families come and support our sporting events, and even when we have special events at school.

    Bang for the buck

Stevenson is a very affordable university. The only thing is, you need to make sure that you check your account regularly because there can be mistakes on your bill, that may hinder you from signing up for class for the next semester.

    Am enjoying being here

This fall marked the first time Stevenson University has had a football team, but that doesn't make a difference. Win or lose, the Stevenson student body are out there cheering for each other. We are a close knit family at Stevenson because within a few weeks, you know more people than you could ever imagine. This is because there are so many activities on campus like Patio Jams, sports, clubs, etc.

    Am learning a lot

Stevenson University is a place that encourages the students to work one on one with advisers and teachers. They believe that each and everyone of us have full potential. The professors want each of us to succeed, and they will help you no matter what time of day it is. Some classes are hard, but with the help of the Academic Link and professor's office hours; you can succeed at any subject.

    Clubs and Activities

at stevenson there s a club for everybody. there's a q group which supports the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community. the step-team promotes the african tradition of stepping and making beats with the body. the black student union provides a variety of options from modeling to singing for students of all races. as one can see, stevenson has a wide variety of clubs and activities.

    Food and Dining

stevenson has a wide variety of food choices to choose from. there are many restaurants on campus such as five guys, baskin robbins, outback, bonefish grill, new york pizza, and nino taco. most of these places accept flex dollars which is the money the school gives you. the places where you can use your meal lan are rockland and pandini's. the food at rockland is either a hit or miss. you're experience depends on what the menu is for that night. pandini's is pretty good however.

    Dorm Life

dorm life at stevenson is absolutely amazing. here you have suites where you share a bathroom with three other people instead of sharing it with the whole floor. each suite has two bedrooms one bathroom and a common area. the dorms are already equipped with refrigerators an microwaves. stevenson gives you a roommate questionnaire and they do a great job of matching people up according to their responses.

    Academic Rigor

stevenson has very high academic standards. if you obtain a scholarship, you must maintain a 2.5 gpa to maintain it. different majors have required gpa's as well. if you're grades are low in specific classes the academic services office will contact you and help to get everything back on track.

    Tips for prospective students

i would recommend that all students apply for this school before march. this school does offer scholarships but it takes about two weeks for your application is processed. applying earlier gives you time to ensure that the school can process all financial aid.

    In three sentences

stevenson provides a positive learning environment. the professors are always willing to give extra help. the academic services office ensures the success of the students.

    What to do for fun

I find that it's not what you do but who you do it with so having a great group of friends will make any activity seem fun. I personally enjoy outdoor activities. For those who don't own a car, the school offers a shuttle that runs every hour to the metro, you can easily head downtown for a night of fun.

    Food and Dining

Food on the Greenspring campus is better than the Owings Mills campus. It gets redundant at times. Not the greatest food but they do have some specials offered throughout the semester (last year they had a Seafood and Steak Night compliment with household music).

    Dorm Life

The apartments/dorms are great as opposed to those at larger universities. If you're in the apartments (requires junior or senior status) then you're provided a kitchen and you're not required to be on a meal plan(this means less money). Only downfall is that if you are someone looking for a party atmosphere, Stevenson may not suit you. There is not much offered on campus on weekends so many students leave for home.

    Academic Rigor

I can only speak for the biology track at Stevenson, which is very challenging as I believe it is everywhere. You must maintain a %73 average in order to stay in the program. It is essential that you do well in your chemistry courses as a biology major as they are prerequisites for many Biology courses. Being diligent and on top of assignments is essential.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure to take advantage of the free tutoring, SI sessions (if offered) or the professors at Stevenson if you encounter any problems in your classes. Be proactive about yor future. Take advantage of the services that the Career center offers.

    In three sentences

Stevenson University is very personable. There are many fine professors who exceed what is required to help you succeed. The only downfall with this institution is that it is very expensive and students have to commute via shuttles to get to either campus.

    Campus Safety

Stevenson is a very safe place. They have emergency poles where you can call for help all over the parking lots and Stevenson vans drive around the campus 24/7. We also have to swipe to get in past 8 o'clock and if someone tries to get in who's not from they school, they will not be allowed to enter.

    Greek Life

There are two sororities that work hard. However, I don't think Stevenson focus' on it much. Most colleges have many sororities and fraternities.

Great for these types of students

-Shy -Studious -Non athletes -Go getters

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

We have a mustang statue in the gym (which is our mascot) and students rub it for good luck.

    Bang for the buck

Stevenson does cost around $40,000 to attend a year, but it's worth it. The relationships you make since the school is small will last a life time. Also, you get one on one time with your professor instead of fighting for their attention. The professors do a great job at teaching their subjects and making it understandable for us.

    What to do for fun

Stevenson has a group called MAPS that plans fun events. They've done many events. They plan movies on and off the campus. For example, they played Monsters Inc University, Fast 6, and Superman on a big screen on the quad and held midnight premieres to go see Thor and Catching Fire. I love movies so these were perfect for me. They've also held dances, a halloween haunted house, game nights, a fire show, patio jams and much more. They do a great job at keeping students busy with fun.

    Food and Dining

The food at Stevenson is only okay. I wish there were more options, but there's a buffet place and a pizza place on the main campus. Yes, there are others on the Greenspring campus, but I hardly go there.

    Dorm Life

Stevenson University has the best dorms in Maryland (in my opinion). You get to share with three other people (four including yourself) in two separate rooms. Their is a shower, bathroom, and sink area. That means to public showers! The room size is great too. You aren't cramped into a small area. As for events, our dorm halls have events all the time ranging from halloween parties to game nights and more. The RA's help too.

    Academic Rigor

It seems to be easier than high school. It may be because students get to focus on their interests and they're good at them or the professors are great at doing their jobs and making it easier for the students.

    Tips for prospective students

The idea of college may be overwhelming at first, but once you come to Stevenson all of that changes. You get to focus on what you want to do. Have fun, but focus on school at the same time. Time management is crucial too. Being able to balance your free time and school will help.

    In three sentences

Stevenson University is a great college to attend because the size is small, students make new friends, and the quality of education is fantastic. Yes there may be other colleges that have these too, however, Stevenson takes pride in what they do. All the professors work hard to teach us what we need to know and at the same time the students build up relationships through the fun events they hold all the time in the dorms and outside of the dorms.

They have a talent show every year which is so much fun to watch. I was in it my freshman year.

Great for these types of students

Those who want to focus and not get distracted too easily.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

They have some amazing bagel cafe's nearby that I love going to get breakfast at. There is NYP down the hill. It is a pizza place, run by Chinese people, that turns into a club at night....if that isn't unusual I don't know what is! We are also right near an abandoned mental hospital that is rumored to be haunted!

    Bang for the buck

    Stevenson is extremely expensive.

    What to do for fun

Honestly, I have no idea. There really isn't much and everyone goes home on the weekends.

    Food and Dining

The food on Greenspring is amazing. Rockland and Pandinis tend to upset my stomach. I have heard many other students experience the same.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are amazing of course. They are brand new and really give you a lot of space. However, there isn't a lot of activities on campus.

    Academic Rigor

The classes aren't too challenging. I was kind of disappointed with some of the teachers I got. Some didn't really teach and graded absurdly like taking 10 points off for a missing word. Many of the classes I had to take were like repeats of my high school classes and considering I took all AP and honors classes in high school and passed, was kind of aggravating.

    Tips for prospective students

The campus is small, so get involved in clubs. The days and weekends will get kind of dull and repetitive at times.

    In three sentences

Stevenson is growing. Stevenson is new. Stevenson has an amazing career placement program.

    What to do for fun

The city of Baltimore is only a few minutes away from the campus, inner harbor isn't that far away and Washington DC is about 30-45 minutes away.

    Food and Dining

They served lobster tail for dinner once! Doesn't get much better than that.

    Dorm Life

Dorms are great however I chose to live in an off campus apartment just for personal preference.

    Academic Rigor

Stevenson University makes you think critically and solve problems or look at things in ways you wouldnt normally do.

    Tips for prospective students

Great academic school, great campus, friendly people, just make the most of the opportunity of college no matter where you decide to go.

    In three sentences

Stevenson is a great school where I feel like I can grow as a student, athlete, and as a person. The school has an excellent reputation for academics as well as athletics. Another reason why I chose this school is because of the opportunity it possesses for life after school, being in the Baltimore area as well as being close to Washington DC.

    Food and Dining

The food seems to be the best on days when there are prospective students. I imagine it is the same quality as every other school.

    Dorm Life

    Campus Safety

The campus at Stevenson is a smoke free campus. Bullying of any sort, and underage drinking are not tolerated at Stevenson. The campus is also gated, and those gates close after 10 p.m. again to protect the students and staff.

    Greek Life

There is also something for everyone at Stevenson, as far as joining a sorority, a fraternity is coming soon. One of the oldest sororities is the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Tau Theta Chapter; founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. in 1908. It is the oldest Greek-lettered organization established by African-American college-educated women. Stevenson University's undergraduate chapter of AKA, Tau Theta, was chartered on April 3, 2011. Its members are distinguished young women who boast excellent academic records, proven leadership skills, and are involved in the community through service.

    Clubs and Activities

At Stevenson there are several clubs and activities such as sororities, the Accounting Association, Active Minds, American Chemistry, Society, Association of International Graphic Artists, Best Buddies, Black Student Union, Campus Crusade for Christ, Catholic Campus Ministry, Class Councils, College Republicans, Cool Kids Club, Environmental Club, etc. The Best Buddies Club deals with helping others with disabilities, and the Cool Kids Club deals with helping families with kids who have cancer. There are also several sports like football, basketball, track and field, hockey, dance etc. There is something for everyone at Stevenson.

Great for these types of students

Stevenson is great for students who work well in smaller environments, and want a quality education, that goes beyond the classroom. Internships, and studying abroad are also options at Stevenson.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There is an annual movie night around halloween. The campus is split between Owings Mills and Greenspring however by the fall of 2013, every building/class will be moved to one campus making the transportation from class to class easy and convenient.

    Bang for the buck

Stevenson is expensive, once you add up the tuition, room and board, and meal plan. But overall, it's worth the price. Stevenson is a great community, and the campus is also gated, for the student's and staff's protection. The people at Stevenson greet you with a smile, and it is obvious that they want you to go to their school. Where as some other institutions can make you feel like a number rather than a student, due to the sheer size of their campuses. The quality of education also is greater, because of the one on one time, and personal relationships gained between students and teachers.

    What to do for fun

At Stevenson there are several things to do for fun, there's a game room, where people can play video games, rent movies, watch television, or play pool. Stevenson also has many school events, like crab fests, the carnival, trips to New York, White Water Rafting etc.

    Food and Dining

The food is great at Stevenson University. Their is a wide variety of food, at Stevenson from stir fry, pizza, sandwiches, etc. There are also several other restaurants around the campus; Chick-fil-a, Dunkin' Donuts, subway, etc. On the Stevenson campus, there is also a school grocery store.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are a decent size they are not huge, but they are not small either. The dorm rooms are shared by two people, the bathroom is split, shared between two rooms, or four people. There are dressers to put clothes in, and one stand that you can put a television or something on. There are no toaster ovens or anything like that, a just a microwave as far as cooking.

    Academic Rigor

Studying is key, depending on the major more or less studying is required. For example a science major has maybe six science classes per week. For every one hour of a class you would want to dedicate three or four hours of study time on material for the week. Therefore you would want to dedicate 18 to 24 hours per week for the material. College is not easy, but if enough work, and effort is applied then you should be fine. The average student to teacher ratio is 17:1. Therefore, there is more one on one time for students to learn more effectively, and more time for the teachers and students to get to know each other.

    Tips for prospective students

Always do research on the University you are thinking about or planning to attend. A college visit also makes all the difference in the world. Visiting a campus shows what campus life is like first hand. Five out of five, the staff and students currently attending Stevenson University, let you know what you're getting yourself into, and they ask that each student challenges themselves everyday to learn something new, and gain life lessons from each experience, being active within Stevenson will give you the best experience. Always finding balance between work and play will be the key to success at any institution. The campus visit also lets you experience what type of vibe you will most likely feel, if you decide to go to Stevenson University. Apply for as many scholarships as possible, the less money you have to pay back the better.

    In three sentences

Stevenson University deserves four out of fives stars, it has a beautiful campus, the food is great and dorms are a decent size. Stevenson has everything I was looking for in an University; it is close to home, small, career-oriented, and the focus on each student's growth as a person, morally, socially, and mentally. However, the cost for tuition, room and board, and a meal plan, altogether seem to be expensive, but financial aid helps alot.

    Bang for the buck

39,000+ is a bit much, especially for such a small school. But they have great campus, huge dorms, good conveniences for students, and are currently still building.

Not much to do unless you go off campus. There are plenty of groups on campus with activities planned. But if your more of a party goer, not really for you.

    Food and Dining

Dining at every school isn't the best, especially if we are comparing it to your mom's home cooking. There is a buffet style dinner and a pizzeria style dinner on the main campus. with two other small dinning areas. On the second campus, food is better and more options. It gets boring after a while, i don't hate it yet.

    Dorm Life

The new dorms are huge and the older dorms are still a great size compared to other schools. You have your own bathroom, refrigerator, and microwave. Don't worry about fans or heaters, you can control your own AC/Heater unit. Dorms are Co-Ed. I would recommend living on campus.

Security is always around and you have to show your card at night every time you enter your residence hall. You also need your card at night to open the gates to get into the campus. There are blue emergency lights everywhere and security gets where they're needed in a few seconds when called. They will also pick you up from the MTA as well as stores.

    Clubs and Activities

We have a lot of clubs in this school for just about anyone. There's the Q Group which supports GTBLIA and makes it known, there's the Anime Club, the SGA, the MAP, the Black Student Union which also has the Allure Models, the PAWS club which supports animals and goes on zoo trips and whatnot, the Equestrian Club, the Paintball Club, and lots more.

    Bang for the buck

We get large dorm rooms with a lot of accommodations that most college dorms don't have. We have a great variety of places to go in terms of eating and we have a lot of fun events. We also get free ice cream and snow cones just about every day when it's warm outside just by flashing our ID cards. The academics here are amazing and well worth the cost.

    What to do for fun

The MAP (Mustang Activities and Programming) Committee offers a lot of fun programs. There's been four movie nights, a carnival, two dances, a mystery dinner, three plays, a shopping trip, a magician, a bonfire, a talent show, a costume party, and a few trips in the few months that I've attended this school. There's always something fun to do.

    Food and Dining

There's always something new to eat in Rockland---the cafeteria on the Owings Mills campus. There's also another cafeteria on the Greenspring campus which serves good food. If you don't feel like eating at the cafeteria, there's a Subway, Five Guys, Dunkin' Doughnuts, NY Pizza, and Edo Mae Sushi on campus that you can choose from. There's also Jazmin's Cafe which is great for a quick snack.

    Dorm Life

The dorm room is very large and comes with a foyer, micro-fridge, as well as a separated shower and toilet. There's also a thermostat so you can always change the temperature in the room to stay comfortable.

    Academic Rigor

The teachers really seem to know what they're doing and they give great lectures and notes. I've never had a problem in any of my classes because my teachers always gave me solid explanations.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't be afraid to attend all of the events offered by the school. They're a lot of fun and they are also the best way to make new friends.

    In three sentences

The class sizes are relatively small which allows a lot of one-on-one with the teachers. The school is also small so it feels as though I live in a small, close-knit community. Everyone here is very friendly and it's always easy to find help when I need it.

    Dorm Life

I really loved dorm life. Meeting new people really expanded my horizons. The broad range of ethnicity was awesome. My first year roommate was from Belize

    Tips for prospective students

When you pack for the semester, take half of what you think you need, I swear I sent back boxes and boxes of stuff.

    In three sentences

I love Stevenson because they are focused on not only learning but putting that to use in the job market. The campus is close to shops and restaurants. The newness of the campus was a draw for me also.

    What to do for fun

Well there's actually a lot to do for fun, there is a beach volleyball court and basketball court. There's always people out in the quad doing something. Your RA's have floor events or building events. There are campus activities like the homecoming dance to indoor ice skating. There is a broad range on things you can do.

    Food and Dining

It might seem great but it can be bad on certain days. But this is just like every other college or university it'll always have bad food.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life actually isn't as bad as what people expect well at least not here. Unlike most colleges each dorm has there own bathroom, only downside is you have to clean it. But other than that its pretty roomy. You have 2 rooms for people to live in and a small common room when you first walk in which basically for us was our pantry, we had all of our snacks and food in there with the microwave and fridge that's provided. Also if there was ever a problem with people in your dorm its easy to fix either by a room meeting or if its at the point where you cant take it then they can find you a different room.

    Academic Rigor

Well me as a nursing major when choosing my college I wanted a school well known for their academics. This being the school of the sciences they're well known for those courses in which your engaged and you have experience to jump right into a job, Now don't get me wrong you'll definitely get your academic challenges but it'll be worth it when you get your diploma.

    Tips for prospective students

My first semester just passed and the biggest tip I can give is do all of your work and go to all of your classes. It will be hard but its more challenging to keep your GPA up when they don't let you hand in anything late or if your absent without excuse you will not be able to make it up. I had the hardest time getting up for early classes and if i slept through them that was my fault, yet i couldn't do anything about it.

    In three sentences

I feel that Stevenson University is a well diverse school, great teacher to class ratios, and small enough where you feel at home. I know that with a big school you feel overwhelmed but with a smaller one its easier meeting people along with not feeling awkward. Also some students are scared to do bad which is why the ratio of teachers to class is the best, you feel that one on one aspect of high school in college

The security here is great. Everyone is encouraged to save the number in their cell phone, and their office is easy to find in the community center. After 8pm, anyone entering campus has to scan their student ID, so outsiders really can't get in.

Great for these types of students

Stevenson is great for anyone, but the science programs are particularly strong. I'm a nursing major, and I can already see why the nursing program is so highly esteemed. I feel like I'm getting such a good education.

    Bang for the buck

Stevenson is totally worth the cost. The education is phenomenal and I couldn't ask for more helpful professors.

    What to do for fun

Honestly, you have to make your own fun around here. One thing I don't like is that there isn't all that much to do. Make a few friends, though, and you'll have a blast doing almost anything.

    Food and Dining

The food isn't the best I've ever had, but it isn't the worst, either. Some dishes are better than others. There's room for improvement, but it is good enough to live off of.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are very nice and modern. It is very spacious compared to most dorms, and the bathroom is a very nice size. The closet is a good size, and there's plenty of drawers for my stuff.

    Academic Rigor

I haven't been challenged academically much yet, but I'm sure that it gets tougher as the years go on. I took Advanced Placement courses in high school, so I think taking those really helped me to excel this year.

    Tips for prospective students

My biggest tip would be to look at the money last. Come visit Stevenson, and if you have that gut feeling that you belong here (I did!), then come! The education truly pays for itself.

    In three sentences

Stevenson University provides a wonderful education. Yes, it is a bit expensive, but it is totally worth the loan I had to take out. I can't imagine more caring and helpful professors.

Great for these types of students

Students who don't want to sit in a stadium sized classroom.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Pet the stang in the caves for good luck!

    Bang for the buck

Stevenson is expensive but classroom sizes and education are worth it.

    What to do for fun

We're 20 minutes away from Baltimore! Go to clubs, concerts, events, etc. Not much to do on campus, especially in winter, but I like the quiet life.

    Food and Dining

Food is good. A lot of options. Beware freshman 15, seriously.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is chill. There's a security guard from 8 pm to 4 am but he/she doesn't bother you. You can basically do whatever you want as long as you're not screaming/ burning the place down.

    Academic Rigor

Stevenson intro classes are fairly easy and most teachers don't aim to make 101 classes impossible. However teachers aim to make higher level classes more challenging. As a freshman in a 300 level class it's definitely challenging.

    Tips for prospective students

Bring a lot of warm clothes and rain boots. Also don't be afraid to ask for help. There are tons of people who are just waiting to help.

    In three sentences

Stevenson is small and private. It has small classroom sizes which I thoroughly enjoy and teachers are normally very helpful. There is no reason why someone cannot succeed here.

    Bang for the buck

Getting a scholarship for Stevenson is pretty easy, which is good because it's expensive.

    What to do for fun

There are events almost every week on campus, but there isn't really anything to do within walking distance. If you have a car there's plenty of hiking trails, nature centers, places to shop; and the campus provides a shuttle to shopping and baltimore/DC on the weekends.

    Food and Dining

Much better than the food at other colleges I checked out, but still not home cooking ;)

    Dorm Life

The dorms are really nice, there's no communal shower; but if you hate bunkbeds as much as I do, hope you get the A type room (there are two room types for freshmen dorms and type B has bunkbeds).

    Academic Rigor

I haven't had any trouble in my freshmen classes, they're mostly introductory courses.

    Tips for prospective students

Have a really good idea of your major Be ready for a few evening classes, sometimes you'll have to take them Be careful what you eat- freshman fifteen is not a myth!

    In three sentences

Stevenson is a realy good college if you already know what you want to do with your career. The University is very focused on preparing you for a job, so if you come in your first year undecided, it will be tougher to graduate in four years. There are some fun things to do on the two campuses, and the housing is way better than the other coleges I looked at.

    Clubs and Activities

There are so many different clubs to get involved with from Mustang Activities and Programming to English Club to International Student Association. We also have a few sororities, and they are trying to start a fraternity.

Great for these types of students

Definitely a great school for those focused on their education. It is definitely not a big party school.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

We have a mediation center on the Greenspring campus that boasts a meditation wheel. Also on the Greenspring campus, there are four or five mustang statues with differing artistic designs to celebrate different features of Stevenson University.

    Bang for the buck

Stevenson is a pretty expensive school, but they have a lot of amenities. Also, if you are interested in Nursing in particular, they provide the latest and greatest technology for you to use to learn.

    What to do for fun

There are a lot of events happening on campus. I personally work for Student Activities and we provide, in conjunction with other clubs and organizations, lots of fun things to do on the weekend and during the week. For example, we recently had a glow party and we are hosted a comedy show in February featuring Seth Myers from Saturday Night Live! This semester we are also holding a Staycation Weekend over Labor Day weekend with a whole bunch of water related events and giveaways.

    Food and Dining

The food is pretty good. They are trying to change up their menu. The school also provides you $75 on your SUone card (student ID) to use at participating restaurants near the campus, which is a plus. There are also many options around the school that you can go to and shell out money to obtain food.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are pretty nice. However, if you do happen to be assigned a B room, they are really small, especially for two people to share. There are quiet hours in place, so don't be afraid to knock on a door and tell them to hush up. Also, the RA's (resident assistants) are extremely nice and supportive, so don't be wary of talking to them.

    Academic Rigor

The teachers here do not play around. If you don't put forth your best effort, they are not afraid to give you a bad grade. They push you really hard to succeed in their class and in general.

    Tips for prospective students

Prospective students should be aware that you will need to work really hard on your studies to be able to succeed in almost all their courses. You should also get involved on campus. It's an excellent way to meet new people and build up your resume!

    In three sentences

Stevenson University is a fun, friendly environment. Stevenson is very focused on helping you to find a job after you graduate. Also, a very goal oriented university.

there is barely any greek life on campus, beside a few cademic greek lilf organizations.

    What to do for fun

The university does not have many engaging activites for students, which is way students tend to drive to other universities to have fun. Unfortunately, Stevenson does not accessible transportation to other neighboring universities.

    Food and Dining

The food and dining at Stevenson University is poor. The food contains a lot of laxitives and there isnt much variety. Additionally, there is only two dining places on campus, besides two small cafes. Most freshmen eat off campus, while upperclassmen have the opportunity to cook in their dorm rooms.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are fairly new, with tons of space and amenities. Stevenson University has the best dorms I've seen while searching for colleges. The residential assistants are always available and resolve issues to the best of their ability. Each dorm has its own theme, which allows students to have friendly competitions.

    Academic Rigor

The academic classes are small which allow students to receive the one-on-one attention with faculty, but the classes do not seem very challenging.

    Tips for prospective students

I would advise an prospective student to attend an overnight stay through the university, in order to truly get the feel of the campus. As well as, I would attend open houses mutliple times and ask current students questions that concern them.

    In three sentences

Stevenson University is a school best for students who hope to have a small academic environment. As well, Stevenson is more of a communter school, where most students return home on the weekend. But, the university does have great academic support faculty and programs.

Our campus is big on safety and there have been little to no incidents on campus that I have heard of.

    Greek Life

As of now we have no Greek Life, but we are supposed to begin some in the coming school year.

Great for these types of students

Students willing to learn and improve will receive the most here.

    Bang for the buck

This is a private school so it is expensive, but is probably the most least expensive of any private school I have seen. The quality I think is worth the price.

    What to do for fun

Like I said before if you are not involved on campus there is not much to do on campus. We do live in a very populated area so driving and finding something to do is not hard but a car is needed for that.

    Food and Dining

The food is decent; probably just as good as any other school. The food on the Greenspring Campus is better than the Owings Mills Campus.

    Dorm Life

The dorms themselves are very nice. I have even had friends visit who told me it looked like I live in a hotel. There are activities in some of the dorms sometimes and you are always welcome to participate.

    Academic Rigor

Stevenson as I said before pushes you. Classes having to do with my major are difficult, but because I enjoy the area of law and the professors are so willing to help through it all it makes the experience a lot more pleasant.

    Tips for prospective students

I would say for anyone planning to come to Stevenson to get involved in as much as you can because if you are not you will get bored and it might get you in trouble. Also do your work and go to class, it is very easy to fall behind.

    In three sentences

When it comes to academics, Stevenson pushes people to go beyond what they are use to. It is a small campus, but that provides better relationships with our professors. So far my experience education wise has been good and makes me feel like I will be well prepared for my career after college.

    Campus Safety

There is security roaming around in vans and hallways making sure everyone is safe.

    Clubs and Activities

It is a growing school so it seems as if there are more and more clubs each year.

Great for these types of students

It is great for students that are more interested in a career than partying in college.

    What to do for fun

I am a football player here at Stevenson so most of the time if im not in class, im either in the gym or at practice. The school also comes up with many events that students may attend and socialize with other students.

    Food and Dining

The dining here isn't the best because eventually you will get tired of seeing the same food over and over again. they do switch things up from time to time but it seems more of a cycle. I do wish they had a wider variety

    Dorm Life

The dorms at Stevenson are really nice! these are dorms that won't easily be found on other college campuses. They are really big and provide you with plenty of room to feel at home and comfortable. One feels really safe in their rooms because at night there is always a security in the lobby making sure only students or guests of students get in.

    Academic Rigor

As a business Major so far I have taken many management classes as well as a few marketing classes. Thanks to the professors school is not real tough although there are days that you feel like you just cant do the work because of the difficulty.

    Tips for prospective students

My tip is to make sure that you complete your fafsa early so that you do not have to go through the trouble of not being able to get awarded financial aid.

    In three sentences

Stevenson University is very expensive because it is a private school. The atmosphere here is great because the people are very friendly. People have a great time living on campus because they get to attend many school events and socialize.

    What to do for fun

Nothing, go off campus, or make good friends. It's dead boring.

    Food and Dining

Average, nice, but limited. Not the healthiest options, but they do well enough to accommodate all the students. They're flexible with suggestions though so if you have a favorite you'll likely get it.

    Dorm Life

Best dorms I've seen, so clean, they provide a lot for the students and give them a lot of space. But there's not much campus activity or anything exciting to do really.

    Academic Rigor

It depends, most classes are fairly easy, not challenging enough, like second high school. Some courses are more challenging but that would involve upper level learning mostly.

    Tips for prospective students

If you want a clear cut degree in four years with clean campus living then you'd like it here. If you want variety, depth, and diversity, a truly multi-cultural and interconnected environment, it's not the place for you.

    In three sentences

It is a safe and easy environment. The academics are average and limited. There is both opportunity and lack of it at this school in different ways.

    What to do for fun

There is not much to do for fun. There is a community center that has pool and ping pong and also plasma screen tv's to hook up an xbox but other than that nothing. Stevenson is doing a great job with having more activities for the students these past few years though.

    Food and Dining

I love their food here, but others don't. Just like any food if you eat the same thing over and over it will get nasty but change it up and you will be fine. Great variety of food each day.

    Dorm Life

Dorm sizes are very big. Air conditioning in every room, large closets. This is one of the best schools I have seen with dorm rooms.

    Academic Rigor

For nursing majors or any science majors this school gives you a wake up call. Strict rules for science majors but the outcome will be very good. It all depends on how much you put to your studies and how determined you are. That is really all it comes down to.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure to tour the school so you know this is what you want. The school is a bit expensive so be aware of the price. Overall, they have potential and I like it.

    In three sentences

At Stevenson University there are not that many students that attend here. There is about a 3 to 1 girl to guy ratio. Class rooms are similar to high school size, about 20 students max in a classroom.

    What to do for fun

There is not much fun, but you can get a lot of nap time so its a win-lose situation. Join clubs or create your own and make friends within your major if you commute. The Baltimore harbor is also fairly close.

    Food and Dining

Not that good. The coffee has made me sick. When you upgrade to the apartments you can make your own food so that is a plus. Campus food is better on the Greenspring campus.

    Dorm Life

Boring, boring, I do not live on campus myself and I have been told to stay away because its not worth it. There is not much to do on campus if you are not that into clubs or sports. Stevenson has been increasing events so as long as you try to get involved in activities chances are you can find something to do...

    Academic Rigor

The 100-200 level courses are fairly easy as long as you keep up with course work. 300-400 level require more from you and professors watch to make sure that you are giving your all. Although it will greatly depend on your major, coursework is fairly easy.

    Tips for prospective students

Professors at Stevenson will usually deduct professionalism points for tardiness, so its beneficial to always come to class. Make sure you buddy up with at least one student in each class so that if you ever have to miss one you can copy notes. Always use rate my professor to find the best professors each semester.

    In three sentences

    Campus Safety

There is someone at the security desk 24/7. Stevenson encourages students to keep the phone number for security in their contacts for questions or emergencies. If something has been reported that requires police, ambulance or fire department, they are called immediately. All dorm buildings require key card access and students can only access the building they reside in with their card. The gate to get on campus requires resident student key cards to access and non-residents must have security write them a parking pass in order to get on during late hours. Aside from the apartments, during late hours there are security officers that check IDs for everyone entering dorms and the library. Stevenson communicates effectively and swiftly with students via texting and emailing if something occurs on campus. Signing up for Opt-In allows students to be notified of school delays, road closures, possible dangers, etc. Security attends almost every event on campus, especially large events and those that may have outside guests. Stevenson is a safe university.

    Greek Life

Greek life here is relatively small, because it is such a small school, however there are a couple of sororities around. The two sororities on campus are Alpha Kappa Alpha and the Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority. They will host recruiting events for students interested in joining and they are a good way to meet fellow students. Alpha Kappa Alpha have a probate that family and students can attend during the semester, which is interesting. Unfortunately there are no fraternities at Stevenson. If you are looking for frat houses and step shows, you will not really find that here. Most students that want to be a part of Greek life join chapters at other neighboring colleges.

    Clubs and Activities

There are over 50 student organizations and clubs, and that is not even including sports! So there is no excuse not to be involved. There are organizations catered to specific majors and that have inductions and there are also majors that highlight student interests. If you are interested in bible study, videogames, forensic science or photography, they have a club for that. Don't see a club you want to join? Students can always get together and develop a club or organization with the help of Stevenson faculty. A lot of the clubs and organizations host events around campus that are open to all students. Popular events are the themed dances/parties and tie-dye shirts, hands down. More often than not there is an event in the quad on either campus, so make sure to get out of your room if you don't want to miss out. My favorite event was a wet n' wild theme with a huge water slide, water guns, music and prizes, it was a blast for all students!

Great for these types of students

Students that are looking for a school that focuses on career architecture and want to get hands on and in field experience while taking courses. Students that are not worried about partying, but want to excel in higher education. Those that like to be involved with their fellow students and community, this is the place for you. If you want to feel accepted and meet people like yourself, Stevenson is like one big family, so you'll never feel alone or left out.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

This may not be much of a tradition, but students definitely expect the ice cream and snowball trucks to pop up on campus when it gets warm out. Who doesn't love free ice cream! Keep your eyes out for that. Stevenson also has an obsession with tie dying, so you'll find that around a lot. There is a meditation center on the Greenspring campus that tends to be forgotten about, but I hear students sneak over to take a quick nap.

    Bang for the buck

Even though it is an expensive school, pluses are: Upscale dorms. The campuses are beautiful and well taken care of. Various clubs, organizations and sports to get involved in. Stevenson has three gyms for students. There is a library on both campuses; the library on Owings Mills is open 24 hours during the week. Career services strives to get students internships and job opportunities and helps with interviewing skills and resume critiquing. Most incoming students receive academic scholarships. Small class sizes allow for better interactions with professors and they can understand what learning methods work best for students. Professors actually remember you here, even better for trying to obtain letters of recommendation!

    What to do for fun

One: get out of your room! I love going to sporting events, the atmosphere and energy is amazing. Any time I could make it to a football or basketball game I was there. Students can get free tickets to sporting events as well, so there is no excuse not go. Stevenson also has a really phenomenal lacrosse team and there is tailgating before games. There is always something going on. Sometimes they have movie nights out in the quad, karaoke, speed dating, magicians, etc. They even had a huge glow in the dark bingo night for students. The best part about going to events is the free t-shirts and they have all sorts of good prizes like iPads or gift cards. Sometimes students just like to chill out in the community center were there is a ping pong and pool table, piano and TVs. You will catch students throwing Frisbees in the quad or having snowball fights depending on the weather as well. There is also a volleyball sand pit and basketball court outside. For those that like the nightlife, there are college night events downtown for students at local colleges.

    Food and Dining

Food is another major part of college students have to adjust to. Currently most of the dining options are located on the Owings Mills and Greenspring campuses. On Owings Mills students can go to Pandinis for a pizza and salad, Jazzman's for coffees and smoothies and Rockland for an all you can eat cafeteria. Rockland is the main cafeteria that has breakfast, lunch and dinner hours and there are different food stations within the cafeteria, so students aren't stuck with one option. Recently, Rockland started a program that allows students to take a to-go container of food back to their room. On the Greenspring campus the Mustang Corral is the main cafeteria that also serves breakfast, lunch and dinner options. So if you want a nice, hot breakfast sandwich, definitely head there. SubConnection is also on Greenspring if you simply want a sandwich. However, there currently isn't a 24 hour dining hall. Now every student here will tell you they love Flex Dollars, which can be used at designated restaurants off campus. Students have the option of being on various meal plans or not on one at all if students want to cook.

    Dorm Life

The typical cinder block walls and concrete floors are not found at Stevenson. The floors are carpeted, painted dry walls and built in closets. Also, there are no community bathrooms, which can be a plus. There are three room layouts to choose from and each comes with at least a fridge/freezer and microwave. Suites have up to four roommates; Wooded Way has up to six roommates and the apartments have up to four roommates who each have individual rooms. Apartments tend to be open to upperclassmen and are much quieter than freshmen dorms. Living on campus is one of the best aspects of college. You may become great friends with your roommate or neighbors. Students are very welcoming in the dorms. If you need to borrow something or just want to chat; someone's door is always open. Resident assistants and directors are just as great and try hard to make dorm life fun and safe for students, there is always someone on duty. Occasionally they host building events or events in the quad for residents. You will hear about students having small gatherings in their room, but Stevenson is not a party school so be careful not to get in trouble with R.As.

    Academic Rigor

College is not for the faint of heart as most know and Stevenson provides courses that are very rigorous. This school is known for its nursing program and I have definitely heard how difficult the courses can be. Being a Biotechnology major myself, I definitely know how challenging courses can be. However, courses are passable, so don't be discouraged. At Stevenson, certain letter grades are required in order for the course to be counted as a pass and for you to earn that credit toward your degree audit. Usually students have to get a C or higher in courses required for their major and no, a C- does not count. You'll definitely learn not to procrastinate and to manage your time. Students required to take lab courses will learn how to be more independent in the lab. If you need help with academics there are always advisors, free tutors, peers and other resources to go to for help. The library is also an excellent place to go to if students need help on researching a topic or navigating databases.

    Tips for prospective students

Do your best to maintain exceptional grades in high school in order to increase your chances of getting academic scholarships. Make sure you are ready to enter college with an idea of what you want a career in or at least your main interests, so faculty can help craft a course track especially for you. If you like a more personal feel in the classroom and smaller class sizes, Stevenson is a perfect option. Know what type of living environment you would like to live in and most importantly, can afford. Living on campus is a good experience, but you may decide to commute depending on personal interests.

    In three sentences

Stevenson really embodies its values: excellence, integrity, learning and community. It is a warm, welcoming university that wants to see students succeed as well as incorporate a fun social life. Great opportunities await and relationships are built that you will never forget!

    Greek Life

Only one sorority and we have no fraternities. I think they will be adding a fraternity soon.

    Clubs and Activities

There are many clubs here at Stevenson and you can always find something that will relate to you. The activities are very common as well, you will enjoy them here.

Great for these types of students

Those who want a quality education where the professor actually takes the time to get to know you since the class sizes are usually between 10 and 25. Those who want to live in very nice and luxurious dorms, even as freshmen! Each year you get better and better living conditions.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There is MustangFest which I don't know much of yet since I am just an incoming Sophomore, but I do hear it is fun.

    Bang for the buck

In the case of most private colleges you get what you pay for, the tuition can be very steep here if you don't have scholarships. But I do believe that the education offered here can not be matched by other public universities.

    What to do for fun

Join a bunch of clubs and you'll be busy regularly. There is also the community center where there are TVs, a Pool Table, Ping Pong Table, a PIano, and a big lounging area. You can also play in the quads.

    Food and Dining

You have a variety of choices on each campus. Rockland Marketplace is a buffet style where you swipe in one time and can eat everything you want. There are two Cafes, one in the School of Business and one in the Ratcliffe Community Center. The food isn't bad either. On the Greenspring campus there are places like the Mustang Corral and Subconnection. Down the hill of the owings mills campus are a bunch of fast food chains which can be bought with Flex Dollars (SU dollars given each semester by the school) You get 75 Flex dollars per semester as a freshmen and sophomore.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are wonderful, every building on the Owings Mills campus (Which is where the students live) has been made recently and is fantastic. You will have two Resident Assistants per floor and they build a good sense of community on each floor. There are also regular events hosted. Parties can be tough since security locks down the main doors of the buildings by 8 PM and only allow students with SU cards access.

    Academic Rigor

Stevenson has a high academic standing. You will take a lot of courses, even Gen Eds which will be tough. Hopefully you will succeed if you ask for help when you need it and if you put in the effort.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you remember to bring everything you need. A printer won't be necessary because they allow 15 dollars worth of printing each semester. All in all, you will have fantastic teachers who care about their subject and who also care about helping you succeed. As long as you put in the effort, they will reciprocate.

    In three sentences

It is a wonderful university that is voted one of the up and coming universities. There are 3 campuses total, all beautiful, and a fantastic shuttle system that runs every half hour for students. The dorms are also recently built and extremely nice, even for freshmen!

    Campus Safety

Security takes their jobs very seriously and goes into red alert over anything remotely dangerous. They can be found driving around campus keeping an eye on things, and there are telephones in every parking lot so that if you feel unsafe walking back to your dorm you can call them to pick you up.

    Greek Life

There are a couple of sororities on campus but no fraternities. You have to be invited to join and I haven't been and don;t care to be, so I can't tell you much more than that.

    Clubs and Activities

There are a lot of clubs on campus that are honor societies, major specific, or interest specific. Most of the major based clubs will help you study or get along better with future professors and upperclassmen in your major. The interest specific clubs are varied and good for anything-- there's a dodgeball club, anime club, and video games club as well as equestrian club and environmental club. All of these clubs have to host four events a year, so there is normally something going on on campus.

Great for these types of students

Students who are mellow and looking to get through graduate school quickly.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There is a giant chair in the dining hall. No one knows why it's there. No one sits in it. Ever.

    Bang for the buck

Stevenson is very expensive but since it is also very easy t get a scholarship to go here it balances it out. Keeping the scholarship can become a struggle the last two years though, as the required GPA to keep it goes up each year.

    What to do for fun

Leave campus. Although there are a few activities put on by clubs and SGA some weekends, this isn't much of a party campus and you'll have to go to another nearby University to find the party.

    Food and Dining

The meal plans are so-so but I recommend taking one if you are a science major unless you want to pack lunch every day--even when you have a dorm with a kitchen, the science majors take class on a different campus than the one housing is on. The food on the Greenspring campus is better than on Owings Mills although options for what you can eat are more limited. I also annoys me that there is so much food on the menu on Greenspring that isn't on the meal plan-- if you want a salad or half of the other food on the menu you still have to pay for it, which is stupid.

    Dorm Life

The dorms here are better than most other Universities. The freshman dorms are two bedrooms shared by two people each and connect to a bathroom that the four share. Sophomore dorms have bigger bedrooms that are shared the same way, and upperclassmen dorms are apartments with full kitchens, a living room with furniture, and each person gets their own bedroom. There are two bathrooms in each apartment. The meal plans are alright, but I recommend taking one if you are a science major unless you want to pack lunch every day--even when you have a dorm with a kitchen, the science majors take class on a different campus than the one housing is on.

    Academic Rigor

There's typically that one course or two that determines who is cut out to be in their major and drops your GPA a little, but I think that's true of any college or University. Courses here aren't that tough, it's doing well enough at them to keep a scholarship that's the hard part.
