The majority of students are majoring in biology or psychology, so you might feel excluded if you aren't in some kind of field of science. Most of the classes are huge, so if you prefer a more personal college experience, turn elsewhere. I would highly recommend trying to get involved in school activities (clubs, sports events, festivals) as it makes you feel like a part of the community rather than one in 25,000.

Always ask questions about things you're not sure about. If you want to graduate on time and do well at SBU, ask your professors and advisers about which classes to take and what opportunities are available for you. Go for the research opportunities and the internships because they're a fantastic learning experience.

Get involved in the clubs and make new friends so that you don't only just spend time studying, but definitely don't forget to study. There are a lot of great places to study! You will learn that managing time is one of the most important skills for life. The midterms come sooner than you think but leave room for fun!

If you transfer here I hope you become more outgoing because if you don't reach out to others you will most likely get lost around campus and making friends will be a bit more difficult unless your interests connect.

Check with advisory constantly to know what you have to do to get your degree. Always be on the look out for any events, groups, or other opportunities that may be of interest. Finally, make a plan before each semester because so much goes on that you can only keep up if you become good at organizing your schedule.
