Categories Comments Great for these types of students TCC is a great school for single parents like myself. It is easy to apply and easy to get into. This school is very flexible with there class schedule and offers a wide variety of online classes so if you don't have the time to drive to school you can still sit down and take a class or two at home. This school is also great for students who don't quite know what they want to do yet. You can take classes and figure out what you like, and then decide your major from there.
Tips for prospective students Everyone should check to make sure they are on the right path to transferring to another university, if that is what they choose to do. Make sure that all your class are transferable and are class you should actually be taking for your declared major.
Bang for the buck Tarrant County College is very cheap. This is a great school for anyone who is on a budget and also looking for a good quality education. Also I recommend this school for almost everyone because you can transfer almost all your credits to any university.
Am enjoying being here I love the atmosphere of this college all the teachers are very laid back and are there to teach the students who are willing to learn. I also really liked the fact that it is really easy to meet people there because the class are relatively small in size so it is very easy to talk and make friends with each other.
Am learning a lot Although Tarrant County College is just a community college it offers classes that have a more rigorous course load like that of one in a major university. I am glad I came to this school before transferring out to a larger university because I feel more prepared and am ready for anything.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students TCC is great for students who prefer living at home while attending college or students that have families to raise and jobs to work. TCC is another tract that students can take in finishing their degrees, TCC offers so many different class times and locations, making it easier for busy students.
Tips for prospective students Get involved on campus, though it seems difficult. Join a club or Honor Society or start your own club. Do not be ashamed for being a student at a community college, in the end you will not have near as many student loans as the other four year university grads!
Bang for the buck TCC's tuition is very affordable! They make paying tuition a breeze by offering scholarships, loans, and payment options.
Am enjoying being here I love being able to come on campus for class then leave in my own car and go wherever I wish.
Am learning a lot When I first contemplated attending Tarrant County College, I was influenced by university students' negative comments about community colleges. With that retrospect, I registered for classes last fall. To my surprise, the professors at TCC were helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. Though they had doctorate degrees, they did not treat you like an average dumb student. Although TCC is not a major university, they still have many student organizations and a few Honor Societies. Community College students do need to get involved on their campuses, it helps the major universities get to know who they are; grades are just as important too! Attending a community college is a great way to prove to a four year university that you are serious and focused on your college education. Attend every class, make good grades, and become acquainted with your professors, you will need letters of recommendation. Tarrant County College is a place where people of all ages can come together and learn, do not be persuaded by others not to attend, it is a very good step towards finishing your degree at a major university!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students just out of high school. want that freedom and assuring your parents or guardians that you can do it. this is the time to let them stay back and watch you start on this path for college life. you want to save money. need that one on one with the teacher someone your type.
Tips for prospective students you know when you are fresh from high school, just turned legal meaning 18, and you think that you can run the show by yourself, believe me you can, but you can run it better when you have those who know what the road is like help you run your show. basically, i stayed home and went to a small school, yes i had my little freedom, parents are on my case still but not as much. this is good because, with them on my case, it helped me get back on track when i slacked off and they saw progress also.
Bang for the buck alot cheaper. i didn't pay as much as i would have going to a university. And as an undergrad student, it's best if you REALLY do your best not to have debts and loans.
Am enjoying being here there's not so many distractions of having too many students. if sometimes you don;t like people to be around so you can concentrate a lot more on your work, Defiantly TCC is the place to be.
Am learning a lot if you like smaller classrooms where you and the teacher can communicate on a regular basis, then this is the school for you. it was really easy for me to get help when i needed it right away from the teacher.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students -Anybody who wants to save money on your basics -Those who just aren't ready to leave home yet -For those who don't know if traditional colleges are right for them
Tips for prospective students Don't feel bad or embarrassed that you are starting off at a community college, like I did. It really is an excellent way to see how different college is from high school and gives you a great opportunity to learn more about what you have to do to succeed in college. Go to class, read instructions carefully, and make the most of it(:
Bang for the buck You are paying way less for the same basic courses that other students are taking at 4-year universities.
Am enjoying being here I thought I wasn't going to like it, I will admit. But, I actually look forward to class everyday. It's small enough to make new friends (which is always good) but still bigger than high school so you'll probably see a new face everyday. Some of the teachers are fantastic! They will truly care about you and aren't just there getting a paycheck. It's located near a lot of different restaurants and I enjoy all the activities that TCC has to offer.
Am learning a lot I cannot believe how interested my teachers have me in their classes. I used to hate government in high school and now it's my favorite class! The learning is on a deeper level, it's not just about memorizing facts anymore. The work keeps me challenged and I know I will be prepared when I transfer to a 4 year university.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students who are fresh out of high school and want to get a feel for college before moving to a four year university. Students who don't have a lot of money but still want to get a degree Students who want to stay close to home.
Tips for prospective students Show up to class, do your homework, become familiar with your teachers, and you are bound to succeed
Bang for the buck This school is a lot cheaper then universities but it still offers a high quality education. We learn for the same books that higher priced places use without having to empty our wallets
Did enjoy being here The classes are small so the teachers are easier to reach and more available to help you one on one. The library has a lot of resources and the librarians are eager to help you in whatever they can.
Did learn a lot The teachers there love what they are doing. They challenge their students to do their best. I have gotten interested in different areas that I never thought about before because of the professors.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students It'll be heaven for students who are hard-working, friendly, respectful.
Tips for prospective students Remember to make friend, cause in college anyone can have what you don't, so be active and friendly.
Bang for the buck It is way cheaper than university, pell grant is enough for me to pay for tuition, books, and even new clothes for college.
Am enjoying being here I definitely like the physical education facilities over there, have chance to workout and enjoy the deepness of swimming pool. Most of my friends go there, so I'm really satisfied with this year.
Am learning a lot All of my classes provide me lots of supportive information. I learned how to manage time and finish project on time. It's not about who's smarter, it's about timing and follow instruction.

Food and Dining Great cafe love it!
Dorm Life No dorms sorry!
Tips for prospective students Before going off to a big time university to spend big bucks go to tcc and save your money. The classes are very cheap cheap and did I say cheap. They have most if not all the classes u need to take for you to graduate! You can always transfer your credits on a associates of arts degree plan and go !to your school of choice! but always double check and make sure if that school will take all of your credits to be on the safe side
In three sentences I love this school, it has the most greatest professors on earth. Their resource rooms like the library, the math and science labs are very convenient and helpful. This school is the best and I don't have any regrets what so ever!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Very safe, campus police are always on the patrol and lookout for anything; 4 starts for the occasionally mishap.
Greek Life Phi Theta Kappa invited me to join and I will happily join them; I don't know of any other Greek organizations there.
Clubs and Activities I'm not officially apart of any Clubs other than CREW (campus crusade for Christ) and Anime Club; other than that I think the groups are great.
Great for these types of students First time college students, college graduates and parents.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus May Fest and International Food Day are my two favorite days of the year; one is where different corporations and promotions come together outside and give free handouts and hold competitions. International Food Day hosts foods from all over the world and cultures to display and appreciate diversity.
Bang for the buck Compare it to your large university and see how much you save as for me I have saved thousands going here; however it does add up.
What to do for fun The game room has pool, ping pong and darts; the library has two computer labs, the art building has a lovely gallery as well as the visual communications having a professional gallery for events. On certain days the theater preforms.
Food and Dining ECI was the former catering service, I made really good friends with the staff and they were always friendly, medium amount of choices but good food nonetheless. This year I hear that Subway is moving in and I don't know how that will be but I'll remain hopeful.
Dorm Life No dorms, since this is a community college and about now in my life I am searching for a place to move out to.
Academic Rigor I love to go here to see my friends and contemplate what I will learn next.
Tips for prospective students The TV lounge and the bottom of the library are two great places to study.
In three sentences Environment friendly, fun, easy to navigate and relaxing. Good classes, cheap prices and plenty of resources to use. Finally, online support, helpful staff, dedicated employees and a handy transfer center.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Great for people who are starting out their college career or exploring in what major they should pursue.
Tips for prospective students One tip is to stay focused in your goals at the school. Remember that just because it is a community college, it should not be looked down upon. Many people in their life came to a community college. You should not be ashamed. Besides, many university students come to this school to take classes and even enjoy them.
Bang for the buck You will save so much money. Also, you can just rent textbooks for ever more savings. You get more out of the class than what actually you pay.
Am enjoying being here I enjoy being here because you have the chance to grow and meet different people from other cultures. You will easily be accepted with people.
Am learning a lot You would think that because it is a community college you would not learn anything but that is wrong. The staff if willing to help the students and some of college professors who taught at universities enjoy teaching in this school.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Everyone. It's a great starter school.
Tips for prospective students No matter what college you attend, use rate my professor.com to get the best professor for you. If you don't understand what is going on visit the counselors. They are really helpful and they are there for you!! At first I didn't want to attend TCC because it was a community college but once I started going I realized that it is actually a respectable school.
Bang for the buck It's a community college so of course the tuition is less expensive yet you are still learning the exact same thing as you would at a University.
Am enjoying being here The campus is really laid back. Its comfortable and it's not intimidating like a University would be.
Am learning a lot Even though TCC is just a community college the classes are still really great. The credits can transfer to many school so you know that they must count for something.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students People who can handle difficult administration, need to knock out their basics, need to take some time to figure out what they want in life, or need to go back to school (30's +).
Tips for prospective students Take your basics and get out.
Bang for the buck I'm giving five stars on this because I paid $300-600 each semester I went and that is exactly the quality of service/education I have received.
Am enjoying being here No. While the professors are at least approachable, the administration in the registrar, financial aid, counseling, and business services are not. They need a lesson in customer service. I work in retail and if I ever spoke to a customer the way some of these ladies have spoken to me and to others I would be out of a job. Also, every time I leave the counselors office, I feel more confused than when I went in. Not to mention that they tried to tell me that my classes at TCU weren't the same as taking the class at TCC. (No, It's better.)
Am learning a lot The only reason I feel like I'm learning a lot, is because my anatomy teacher is the best there ever was. He is the only professor I've had that (I believe) loves what he is doing. Everyone else is just there to spit out information that may or may not be useful. (That's for you to decide.)

Categories Comments Bang for the buck Tarrant County College (TCC) is very well balanced for any if not all students; the costs for classes are low, the teachers are knowledgeable, and there are a variety of people to meet and activities to take part in. I thought about attending a 4-year college at first, but the amount of money I saved from attending TCC has proved more fruitful than if I had attended a 4-year school from the start. I have already accumulated about 40 credits and recommend TCC to any and all students looking to save money but still earn a degree.

Bang for the buck A lot cheaper than any University, this is a great option for getting started.
Am enjoying being here I love the South Campus and how diverse it is and how the layout resembles more of a college than a High School.
Am learning a lot This community college is a great transition from High School to a University, the classes are not on the same level as a University but I am still learning a lot.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Those unsure of direction for the future, looking to get general courses out of the way before transferring to a 4 year university.
Tips for prospective students Use resources given to you.
Bang for the buck The professors are extremely knowledgeable. I wish someone would have recommended a community college for me before getting deep in debt with students loans through private universities.
Am enjoying being here Not my favorite place to be, but for a community college they try to get the students involved through various activities.
Am learning a lot The professors are quite challenging and won't let students glide through. They expect a lot and desire to see you succeed. Most of the professors are willing to work with the students, but you have to be willing to work hard.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students TCC is great for any student, particularly those who are just now starting college or returning after a long hiatus. Any student on a budget (that makes almost all of us) will appreciate the low prices , quality classes, and all the free resources.
Tips for prospective students Pay attention to the registration dates and peruse the classes before the registration date arrives. Classes fill up VERY quickly, especially the ones at the most opportune time slots. The 8 AM classes and the 9 PM classes are usually last to fill, but I don't recommend aiming for those unless you're an early bird or a night owl.
Bang for the buck At $50 an hour (most classes being 3 or 4 hours long), you get more than you pay for. Free tutoring, passionate teachers, and more resources than you can possibly use!
Did enjoy being here The campuses are nice; Northwest is definitely the most aesthetically pleasing. The staff and the majority of the students are helpful and friendly. The library has tons of resources and are always willing to help you find what you need and introduce you to the resources available, which makes taking a full courseload easier.
Did learn a lot Everyone says that junior colleges are great for getting your basics out of the way. I attended TCC NW campus and knocked out all of my basics, as well as some other really phenomenal courses. The teachers enjoy what they do and are eager to help you understand the material.

Bang for the buck Definitely an affordable school. I came from UTA, so it's nice to go from paying over $1,000 per class to paying about $150 per class.
Am enjoying being here The Northwest campus is very beautiful and easy to get around, but the parking restrictions are ridiculous. Classes are easy to find though, which is what matters most.
Am learning a lot The professors I've had so far have been, for the most part, willing to help and work with you in order to earn the grade you want.

Tips for prospective students plan accordingly; registration and such, lines can get long if you don't. not obligated to buy books at the bookstore so don't. get your moneys worth and attend class.
In three sentences affordable, parking it free! class sizes are small compared to a university, more one on one help. teachers that care.

Tips for prospective students its cheaper than a university and if you plan on transferring you can get many classes done there. the professors are amazing and there is a campus near you.
In three sentences tarrant county college was a very good experience for me. i still live at home so it would have been hard for me to go to a big university right out of high school. the college has many great professors that are amazing at what they do.

Categories Comments Campus Safety very safe. police patrol campus all the time.
Greek Life no greek life unles you have a cumulative gpa of 3.25
Clubs and Activities plenty of activities at convenient times.
Great for these types of students great for students needing to raise gpa, get experience and students needing associates.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus nothing unusual fairly normal campus.
Bang for the buck cheap courses that are worth taking.
What to do for fun join clubs and organizations. they have great options. they also have a rec room.
Food and Dining great food! many choices from a vegan wrap to fried chicken tenders.
Dorm Life no dorms but easy to get to from home.
Academic Rigor not too hard but they definitely prepare you for transferring to a university.
Tips for prospective students talk to your academic advisor once accepted to make a schedule. also i highly recommend visiting helping centers and labs when having trouble.

Categories Comments Campus Safety there are city police on campus at all times. they are a service for the students as well. they will provide battery charges and gas. they can walk you to your car. they patrol the halls and just maintain order on campus in a subtle way.
Greek Life there are clubs that seem that they would be a fraternity or a sorority but they are actually honor societies. no greek row here.
Clubs and Activities i didn't know of many.
Great for these types of students quiet: people go to class and leave. few want to sit and make friends. they want to get in and out and be done. free: if you like to do what you want when you want this is great for you. attendance isn't required many students just go to class to take the test.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus there is a life size chess board. its pretty cool during the nice sunny days there are always people out there playing.
Bang for the buck the classes are $50 a credit hour making a 3 hour course $150. books will cost more that tuition but as i mentioned before not all the professors require the latest edition or require one at all.
What to do for fun there isn't much to do for fun.
Food and Dining the cafe in the school is actually really good. they have breakfast and lunch. they are open as long as the school is open. the cost of food is equivalent to what you would pay at any mainstream fast food restaurant. i encourage you to try it out. there is a quite a bit of places to eat off campus nearby but thats only if your schedule allows for it.
Dorm Life there is no on campus housing, but there are a ton of apartments nearby and the prices aren't too bad.
Academic Rigor some classes are harder than others. some teachers will treat their class as if it is a majors class and others will understand that attendance in their class is a stepping stone to fulfilling a requirement for a specific degree.
Tips for prospective students sign up for classes as soon as they are available to you. don't buy textbooks until you have already been to class. a lot of the times professors will allow an older edition and others don't require the book, and some don't teach out of the book and success in the class relies strictly on class lecture. the urge to skip class will always be there but its in your best interest to be there because if you miss a day you miss so much material that will put you behind real quick.
In three sentences on a scale of one to five i would say tarrant county college is a four. the campuses are equipped with a qualified teaching staff, resources necessary to succeed and an extensive selection of class options. it is difficult to make it into the classes you want or need as you make your way through a degree program because of the availability of seats per class, and only specific classes are offered at certain campuses.

Food and Dining there is a cafe
Dorm Life there isn't a dorm life, you live at home or in an apartment
Academic Rigor good academics t

Categories Comments What to do for fun well going to the library and reading is always fun. the gym is also a great place to meet new people and friends.
Food and Dining the food could use a little upgrading considering i attend the oldest campus of them all.
Dorm Life there are tcc campuses located all over the metroplex dorms are not needed.
Academic Rigor great teachers, hours are transferable almost to any university.
Tips for prospective students well as with any school go to class and do your work, trust me it may be a drag but it all pays off at the end.
In three sentences tcc is a great place to start off, especially if you have no idea what you want to do yet. its affordable, the teachers are great and its close to home. i would greatly recommend students to give it a try especially if they are not sure on there major.

Categories Comments Campus Safety safety only gets four stars because after 5pm, security patrols slow to almost a complete stop, the campus isn't entirely well lit, and not very well monitored. though the security officers are very nice and will walk you to your vehicle if they call, speed dial they're number! also, the campus has emergency beacons placed throughout the buildings and parking lots.
Greek Life tcc has no sororities or fraternities, so if you're looking for greek life, you should be studying a medical field or be a real smarty pants for an academic organization.
Clubs and Activities as a member of a few on-campus clubs, i can say that they're a great environment for students who want to meet other people with similar interests. college isn't just for getting to a degree, you should take time to meet people and be a little sociable.
Great for these types of students in my time at tcc, i've run into every type of student imaginable: busy mom, fresh out of high school, dad looking for a promotion, grandma looking to come out of retirement, veterans in need of an education, the list goes on! tcc caters to a number of different individuals and works with them on an individual basis when needed.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus one of the strangest things i've seen yet is the life size chess board outside the student center. there is even a small group of students who play harry potter's wizard chess on the board!
Bang for the buck a four year university will cost you upwards of $15,000 to $20,000! however, you can get the same education by living in the comfort of your own home for roughly $50 per credit hour. i don't know about you, but that's a pretty sweet deal to me.
What to do for fun there isn't much on-campus for fun, but there are numerous sites and attractions in the metroplex that you should be sure to visit outside of class.
Food and Dining the is an on-campus cafe where they prepare the food fresh. it's also fairly healthy and delicious. the chefs behind the cuisine are culinary students at the college, so you won't often be disappointed, or at all, when you're looking for a between class snack or meal.
Dorm Life tcc has no dorms as there are campuses located throughout the metroplex. however, living wi your parents or on your own is always an experience worth having, especially if the cost is $0.
Academic Rigor the is no loss of quality by going to a community college. the only thing you're losing is dollar signs off your tuition! my workload is directly proportionate to my courseload and is completely manageable, even with two part-time jobs and a social life. (i am a full-time student!)
Tips for prospective students just like every other college, tcc has deadlines. keep up with them or you could lose out on going to school or your financial aid. never fear, tcc is on your side and has posted a complete list of deadlines and important dates on their website just for you!
In three sentences don't let anyone fool you, tcc is just as good as a four year university, if not better! perfect for any new-to-college or transfer student. more bang for your buck so to speak.

Categories Comments What to do for fun there are many clubs to choose from.
Food and Dining the cafeteria is not bad, they have a wide selection of snacks in the bookstore as well.
Dorm Life there are no dorms, but there are many apartments next door to the campus.
Academic Rigor for me, it is between three stars and four. as most colleges, it depends on the teachers one gets. most of teachers at tcc are okay, but some are wonderful.
Tips for prospective students make sure you talk to an academic advisor before signing up for classes. one might think they can take a class, but they actually must take a different required one instead.
In three sentences tcc offers low prices for a good education.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are campus police everywhere.
Bang for the buck It's very affordable. I didn't even have to apply for student loans!
What to do for fun It's in the Fort Worth area. There is Six Flags, Hurricane Harbor, a few malls, the stockyards, many restaurants, and a great nightlife scene.
Food and Dining Their food is pretty decent and decently priced.
Dorm Life There are no dorms.
Academic Rigor While it is a community college and can be easier than your typical university, they do have some pretty rough courses.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you go to your classes, they are tough on their attendance policy. Also, if you are doing 8 week courses, they can get pretty rough so make sure you can handle it.
In three sentences Great teachers who are very helpful in what they do. A great place to go to help get core classes out of the way at a very affordable rate. The option of either online course or 8 week courses is amazing- plenty of time for work.

Academic Rigor Depending on your intended major this can vary. I am in nursing and the sciences are competitive and very rigorous.
Tips for prospective students Definitely a great option and affordable to get your basics out of the way.
In three sentences Cost effective, close to home and flexible class times are helpful for those working or with a family. Advisors are not very accurate when wanting to transfer to University. I recommend contacting the university directly I have had great luck with this and was even told TCC had some info incorrect.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus that I am on is patrolled heavily by guards. It also has a contingent of police officers. Escorts to your car are very common at TCCD.
Great for these types of students The school has a very strong foreign group of students. TCCD is committed to the African American population. It also is good for those who wish to go into nursing.
Bang for the buck The school is inexpensive. At $52.00 a semester hour, it cannot be beat. The books are very cheap as well.
What to do for fun There are many clubs at TCCD. There is also a good gym. There is also students of every age to have fun with.
Food and Dining The cafeteria is good. They have a very good selection of items. The people who run it are very friendly.
Dorm Life There are no dormitories. This is a community college. It focuses on core classes, nursing,etc..
Academic Rigor Some professors are more extensive with the material than others. However, they all seem to have a good grasp of the subject. The core classes are taught very well.
Tips for prospective students Distance learning is a good way to go as it can give you a class or two to work at your own schedule. My professors are knowledgeable. They also take the time to explain the information in detail.
In three sentences A very good school. The teachers are very good at explaining that material. The service staff answers any and all questions thoroughly.

Dorm Life Theres no dorms at tcc.
Academic Rigor Professors are very willing to help you out.
Tips for prospective students If you get financial aid don't drop too many classes because it's going to get canceled.
In three sentences I rate tcc a five. It's the only college I've attended but I've learned a lot here. I like how theres llots of classes to choose from, 5 different campuses to choose from and affordable classes and financial aid is a big plus.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Most of the officers you see there are campus police. Yes they can arrest you if you are doing something against the law. I never saw a broken into car when going there over the years. The men and women of the Tarrant County Police Force are great at their jobs. They even had me think about joining them for a while.
Greek Life I am not sure about this at all. I was never apart of this but I know that there some Greek Life stuff going on. I saw the flyers all the time.
Clubs and Activities When I was there the first time I was in the Northwest Theatrical Society. We did things as a group all the time. I noticed other groups and clubs going around doing their things as well. It is a great place to start off at.
Great for these types of students Just out of high school, returning and older students.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is 5 campuses to choose from. I have been to all of them just walking around. Northwest has the lake to eat lunch at. Northeast has some great trees to study under when between classes. South has the great clock tower that does the Westminster Chimes. Southeast is a new building that is all together (from what I have seen) and you don't have to go outside if you don't want to. The Trinity River campus is the newest building that was converted from the Radioshack offices.
Bang for the buck Don't be afraid to speak up in class here. The classes are smaller and you can ask questions if you don't understand what is being talked about.
What to do for fun There is the student center if you have a long time between classes. Each campus has a gym that any student can use even if you are not in an athletic class. From what I can tell all campuses also have pool to swim in. The library is a great place to get away from it all as well.
Food and Dining Each campus has a caffe that you can get food at. It is a little overpriced but they have to make money doing that too.
Dorm Life Well this is a community college so there is not dorms here. You are at home with your family or staying in your own apartment.
Academic Rigor The instructors will help you along the way but keep in mind that they have three to five classes a day to teach so they will not hold your hand. It is a great starting place for those not sure they want to go further in their education.
Tips for prospective students Be ready for it to be just like high school. The instructors are a little more hands off from my school but they still want to see you succeed in what ever you want to do.
In three sentences Tarrant County College is a great place to get started on the way to the rest of your live. It is affordable and is close to where everyone lives with the three campuses. The classes are small enough for the instructors to know and remember you from class to class.

Bang for the buck Great teachers and classes for cheap.
What to do for fun There are plenty of clubs and organizations here.
Food and Dining When I first started it was good. Now, it's only half decent.
Dorm Life There is no dorm life.

Greek Life Has some greek life going on.
Clubs and Activities Always interesting and on-going.
Great for these types of students If you are into school activities they are primarily held around the Student Center building.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The student center is the main area to get to know it has mostly everything.

Food and Dining Sometimes the cafe runs out of food, but they serve a variety of stuff.

Bang for the buck Definitely!!!
What to do for fun They have so many activites planned at the different campus just pick one and join in.
Food and Dining They offer breakfast and lunch in the cafeteria for all the students.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There has never been an incident when I feel that my safety is compromised in any parts of the building or surrounding areas.
Clubs and Activities There are lots of different clubs to join. Some are even bizarre. My favorite is PTK.
Great for these types of students Great for high school students who are transitioning into college/university life. The classes are smaller, and the professors are still there to take you through rough rides. Other schools..you're on your own at this point. Professors are only there to teach, how you make it is completely up to you. Not here. You still get a lot of coaching. It's also good for matured students. There are many courses offered throughout school year with wide range of hours and flexibility. If you are struggling financially or with time, this is the school for you. With extremely cheap education, and lots of different courses offered throughout the year, it's your pick to fit it in your schedule.
Bang for the buck The BEST part...the cheapest in tuition I've ever find!!! It's crazy.
What to do for fun There are a lot of different activities, musical and clubs you can join depending on your areas of interests. There are so many...
Food and Dining They can use a wider selection of food. Hear that Subway's coming...that will be great!
Dorm Life I live off campus so don't know how dorm life is.
Academic Rigor All the courses and instructors are very reasonable. They are not too hard, not too easy. If you show effort, they will go above and beyond to help their students.
Tips for prospective students Do your job and focus on studying. Prioritize your work, life, and school and you can really have it all.

Bang for the buck Get more credit hours for the money here. $52 a credit hour
What to do for fun NRH 2o, that's all I saw.
Food and Dining NE campus lacked good fast food around campus.
Dorm Life There is no dorm here.
Academic Rigor This is my sixth semester and my challenges have been many, mostly keeping the outside world outside. I'm still looking for a good mentor, and counselor. Most have helped in everything possible, but there is something missing. Probably because most my classes have been online, due to my disabilities. I'm planning on doing more classes at the college in the fall and spring semesters.
Tips for prospective students Get to know your counselors, find one you like, check them all out. Read all your syllabus' for each class. Have everything ready for classes..ie...books. Find a buddy, that can help you, vice versa.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are always plenty of cops around, especially on the campuses with the Police Academies. However, there are some notices about motorcycles that were stolen or fancy cars that were broken into, but usually its pretty safe.
Great for these types of students There are a lot of older students, people who wanted to get a degree for cheap and plenty who just are not ready to leave home yet. But its a great place for anybody, really.
Bang for the buck Quality classes, almost all of them transfer in Texas. The tuition is even more worth it if you use all the services they provide, like the career center and the library(use the databases, watch the movies, ask the librarians for help on anything).
What to do for fun Its a rare day that a campus has no events going on, and some of them are really fun.
Food and Dining Breakfast is really good, everything else is overpriced.
Dorm Life No dorms, but there are so many campuses that there is bound to be one close to home.
Academic Rigor Like many schools, it depends more on the teachers than the school. Some professors make you work for the A, while some basically hand them out.
Tips for prospective students Apply early, the good teachers and classes fill up really quickly.

Tips for prospective students Check out the campus before you classes start so you don't feel lost. Find out what kind of tutoring you can get including the hours they are open, and make sure you find places on campus to make copies at or print stuff out.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I've been attending TCC for two years, and i have never had a problem in the classrooms, hallways or parking lot. There are many campus police throughout the campus.
Great for these types of students Its is great for students of low income, you can start in TCC get your basics out of the way, than transfer to a 4 year university. They have small classes, so if you like to interact with other students and the instructor, this is the perfect school.
Bang for the buck TCC is extremely affordable, even without financial help, you can attend the school with no problem. They have plenty of local scholarships, and they also help you find jobs.
What to do for fun They have free workshops, they ones I've attended are the love workshops. You learn about friendships, love relationships and love towards yourself. There are theater performances as well, I have never attended any yet, but I am planning to.
Food and Dining Truthfully I have never ate at the cafeteria, but my friends have and they haven't complained about the food or service. The cafeteria is always clean, and there is usually a large number of student eating and doing homework.
Dorm Life They don't have dorms since its a community college.
Academic Rigor The classes at TCC are challenging, but not impossible to complete. A lot of the work is done in class. but some classes do require out of class project, but nothing you can't handle.
Tips for prospective students Apply early for financial aid, and for classes. Online classes fill up quick, and so do morning classes; also try to get to school at least 15 minutes early, since the closest parking spaces fill up fast.
In three sentences TCC has small classes, so you get to interact with the instructor easily, and you can get one on one help too, which is great. They also have free tutoring, and you can print for free at the library!! The Northwest campus is beautiful, is right next to the lake; during the summer I study outside facing the lake, the view is beautiful and inpiring.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The health care campus is brand new (Fall 2011). It is a BEAUTIFUL state of the art campus with the best skills lab in the state!
Bang for the buck You will receive a quality education for a reasonable cost.
Food and Dining There are 2 campuses in downtown Fort Worth. There are a variety of options within walking distance. There is a cafe and a coffee in the main building. On the healthcare campus (3 blocks away) there is a coffee shop and vending machines.
Dorm Life Not provided
Academic Rigor The nursing program is intense but it will prepare you to pass the NCLEX-RN.

Categories Comments Greek Life Non-existent.
Clubs and Activities A great, involved student government on campus.
Great for these types of students Those students trying to save money while working towards a four year degree. Attending community college and then transferring is one of the best decisions I have made so far.
Bang for the buck Since I'm intending on transferring, I feel this is a great option for me financially. I payed next to nothing for my dual credit classes, and now as a full time college student I am still paying very little for my classes this coming year, yet still getting a good education.
What to do for fun They co-ordinate events with all the Tarrant county college schools in the district, hosting things like end of finals parties and poetry slams.
Food and Dining There is a student union building with a cafeteria, though the food is sub-par. Similar to public high school food.
Dorm Life There is no dorm life at Tarrant County College. No student housing options, every student just commutes to class.
Academic Rigor I took regular college classes there as a dual credit student during my last year of high school. Despite being only 16, I never had any difficulty in my classes. However, I also never felt very academically challenged in the courses I took.
Tips for prospective students Don't dismay at attending a community college, sometimes it's the best thing for you. If you transfer to a nicer four year school later, it's not like it's going to say transfer student on your degree.
In three sentences A reasonable choice for students intending on pursuing just a two year degree or for those who intend on transferring to a four year school. It is reasonably affordable, boasts good teachers in many varying subjects. The close knit feel of the college community at this school has been great so far.

Bang for the buck Affordable tutition and many different class types and forms of instruction.
What to do for fun Student organizations and campus events are the place to be for fun.
Food and Dining The food is great, but they are not open late at night for like snack bars and things. Food price is reasonable.
Dorm Life There are no dorms
Academic Rigor The classes are as tough as you make them. If you study and stay on top of your assignments you should be able to make an A or B based on your actual grades. The teachers are also very understanding and willing to work with you.
Tips for prospective students Meet with an academic advisor before attempting to register for classes. They will sit down with you and work out your financial aid and degree plan so that you will start and stay on the right track. Become involved in student organizations because that will ease your transition into college and and make it more enjoyable. Budget your financial aid in case other fees or obligations come up during the semester. If there are opportunities to volunteer or become a student worker participate because those are good ways to build your resume and skills.
In three sentences The best community college I could ask for. Affordable tuition, tutoring available, home atmosphere, tons of student life activities and much more I can't fit in three sentences. Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety is great! The campus isn't that big and there are always multiple campus police officers on duty.
Greek Life There is no Greek life.
Clubs and Activities There are a ton of clubs to join and most campuses host some type of event at least once a month. There are less clubs than you would find at other schools but that is expected at a community college.
Great for these types of students Great for students who struggled in high school, cant afford a larger university yet, and those who simply want to stay closer to home for a while.
Bang for the buck You learn a great deal for really cheap. I am an out of county student and it costs the same to attend here as it did to attend the community college in my county. So if you are an in-county student it should cost you less than me!
What to do for fun There are a ton of clubs to join and they have a gym. The campuses are all located near cities, so there is a ton of stuff to do off campus.
Food and Dining There is not a ton of choices but the food is great! They are putting in subway's at different campuses this year.
Dorm Life There is no on campus living.
Academic Rigor Most of the classes at Tarrant County College aren't that hard academically, but this is because they are undergraduate classes. For those classes that you may struggle with though, you can go to the learning lab and get tons of help.
Tips for prospective students Make sure Tarrant County College is where you want to go to school, community college isn't for everyone. It is a great school for those students who didn't have the grades to get into Universities or those who could simply not afford it.
In three sentences Tarrant County College, or TCC, is a great school for the student who still lives at home, or is working. The professors go out of their way to help you pass and seem to genuinely care about each student. TCC is a great place to learn and not get into debt up to your ears!

Greek Life This is a community college if that says anything.
Clubs and Activities The clubs vary, but there are some really good and active clubs if you look in the right places.
Great for these types of students Every type of student is welcome. There are no discrimination among age, race, nor religion.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus It's your general standard community college. There aren't many unusual things about it that I know of.
Bang for the buck The college is currently 52 dollars per credit hour. That's 624 dollars for full time! The classes transfer too, but make sure you talk to an advisor first.
What to do for fun There are many clubs, opportunities for sports, free workout areas for students, nice libraries at each campus, various events (including music performances, plays, and festivals/celebrations), and you will meet new people.
Food and Dining A bit pricey, but the food is good and easily accessible.
Dorm Life There are no dorms, but there are apartments around.
Academic Rigor There are some really good and dedicated professors here.
Tips for prospective students Use ratemyprofessor.com, study in classes that you need to and form study groups, and plan out your schedules for semesters carefully!

Categories Comments What to do for fun There's not really much to do, the school could do better with entertainment on campus, but you could go off campus, there is more fun off of campus somewhere.
Food and Dining I give it a 4 out of a 10. There needs to be more variety and the schedule of the cafeteria should be challenged. Not enough time in the day to attend breakfast and/or lunch while having classes ,because the cafeteria closes way too early.
Dorm Life There are no dorms, but there are local apartments near by.
Academic Rigor Some of the classes are hard, depending on your knowledge of them prior to going to the class, some are a little easier.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I feel as if I am being watched everywhere I go on campus. At the beginning of almost every class an officer comes in and gives information for keeping us safe on campus, by giving us tips and a direct line to them. They also have police phones labeled and littered throughout the campus.
Clubs and Activities The clubs and activities seems to fall a little short to what I was expecting.
Great for these types of students Working, living at home, or to stay close to home. Great for your getting your basics done for a great price.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I do love that the library has the private study rooms.
Bang for the buck I am amazed at how inexpensive and convenient this school is. Working your way through school definitely has meaning here!
What to do for fun They have a great game room in the main building but it is under construction at the moment. In the courtyard they have a life size chess board, so cool, and comfortable seating everywhere you go with flat screen TVs nestled around campus.
Food and Dining They actually just recently put in a Subway and I went there this morning to study and eat breakfast before my test and it was lovely.
Dorm Life This school does not provide dorms.
Academic Rigor I know that some schools can be tougher, obviously, but there was not a day that I did not needed to study and keep up with my classes online. It keeps you focused.
Tips for prospective students Always, always manage your time wisely in college. Also, organization is highly important when keeping up with three, four, five or even six courses at a time. Lastly, do not be late, and do not miss class unless absolutely necessary. So much vital information is giving out at the beginning of and throughout the entire class.
In three sentences While attending TCC NE Campus I have found only one issue; the campus bookstore hours are too short. Other than this the opportunity that TCC offers is impressive. An accredited college with affordable classes and books is perfect for students getting their basic classes while still getting a solid education foundation.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students that don't have money or for students that aren't ready to make that big move to a university.
What to do for fun Absolutly nothing. There are hardly any activites at TCC and if they are nobody really intends them or they are just too low quality. Basically all you have to do is go to class and go home. Though there are clubs at TCC you can join and a game room open for a mere few hours during the day.
Food and Dining Well food is food at TCC, there is no fine dinning like pizza hut at my campus. It is more like a small cafeteria where you can order a limited choiced of food. My best offer to you is to get food from the bookstore, because it's easier to take with you and is cheaper too if your not looking for a meal but a snack.
Dorm Life Well sorry fellas there are no dorms at TCC. It is a community college and they usally expect people in the community to be attending. Which means that it is close enough to drive from your parents house (if you still live with them)
Academic Rigor There are some great teachers at TCC and some teachers know that your are taking basics. They know that if you are taking an art class it isn't necessarily your intended major but just a class that you need to take for your degree. That is why there not going to be hard on you and expect you to know everything, which is why you will find sometimes a community college to be a tad easier than a university.
Tips for prospective students Don't let the word community college turn you down. Going to a community college is actually great especially Tarrant County College. It's a very cheap alternative to going to a four year college. I mean why pay for basics such as a speech class for at least triple the cost. I would suggest though checking which classes will transfer at the beginning of your freshman year to make sure which classes will transfer for your intended major.
In three sentences I know many people look down on community colleges because many people think they are are not as respected as other four-year colleges. But I personally have a different outlook after attending one then I did before. They provide a student with a chance to get their basics out of the way for a low cost and provide the experience of college without having to leave town.

Great for these types of students Students who want to realize their dreams.

Food and Dining We have a Subway at the Northeast Campus. I don't know what the food is like at other campuses. I love having healthy choices.
Dorm Life Currently none of the TCCD campuses have dorms.
Academic Rigor I work very hard towards my degree here. They don't sugar coat it, but they help you understand the subject matter very well. I currently hold a 3.23 GPA and made the Honors list in Spring 2012.
Tips for prospective students Don't get discouraged! If you keep an eye on the end goal you will do well. You deserve it and don't ever let anyone destroy your dreams.

What to do for fun Volleyball and basketball on Tuesday nights. The volleyball coach is a great guy.
Food and Dining The cafeteria is gross. Fortunately Chickfila and Panda Express less than 10 minutes away.
Academic Rigor It depends on what professor you get of course, but generally the rigor is not as high as it would be at a four year university. The professors are generally considerate of the apathetic students.
Tips for prospective students Use ratemyprofessors.com. Do your best even though it's just a community college. Get involved. Register for the classes the afternoon registration opens, but not the morning of since the system is always slow and you rarely get through. It's a pain, but you do have to take the math accuplacer no matter what...just get it over with early on.
In three sentences The general atmosphere is depressing since there are so few students that actually care, but if you're just going for your basics you'll be all right. Just keep the mentality that it's only two years. I think the money saved from the low tuition is worth it. There are some great caring professors, you just have to find them.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is tons of lake front lawn to hang out on. Go eat lunch by the water.
Bang for the buck I'm sad that I have to leave the small town feel of these campuses to transfer to a 4 year university. Any prospective new student will enjoy the amenities. There are so many 2 year degree plans to choose from that cater to any personality.
What to do for fun All campuses offer something different. The Northwest campus is on the lake. Here they offer fun water athletics. There is also a fun rec room on campus with a pool table and even a gaming center. Many clubs are offered as well. There are bulletins around campus with cool events and clubs to get involved in,
Tips for prospective students Follow the parking rules or you WILL receive a fine and a hold on your account. Rent your textbooks. Take a tour before classes start so you are not lost the first few days.
In three sentences This school offers a wide range of associates degree plans. Campuses and classrooms are small and quaint. They are easy to navigate around and teachers are wonderful.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I love how safe I feel here, that's probably maybe my favorite thing about TCC. Campus police are stationed in the college and you see them driving around the parking lots and parked near entrances all the time. Scattered outside the buildings (and I think I've seen them inside the buildings too) are police call boxes to contact them in an emergency. One more thing is that they provide you with their number during orientation. Safety is a priority for this school.
Food and Dining Other than a Subway and some vending machines, TCC doesn't really have any food and dining. However, your student ID does make you eligible for discounts at some nearby restaurants (at least for the North East campus), so this makes up for it for me.
Dorm Life TCC does not have dorms, so it's difficult to put a rating on it!
Academic Rigor From what I've seen so far as a freshman just starting college, it seems that the classes ARE fairly rigorous. Perhaps not as hard as a regular four year college (I wouldn't know of course, having not attended such a college yet), but still enough to push you to excel. Recent changes in Texas academic laws require strict attendance, and the school is paid by how many students pass their classes, so therefore they want you to succeed without making it too easy.
In three sentences Tarrant County College is a great choice for several reasons: It is affordable, the majority of the faculty and staff really care about your education, and all the campuses I've visited have been an overall pleasant experience. A great way to get transfer credits too!

Food and Dining They have a subway it's very good.
Dorm Life No dorms

In three sentences Tarrant County College is not a bad school. Even though it is a community college you still get the same education as if you were at a 4 year university. The teachers are tough but understanding.

In three sentences Tarrant County College Is a great choice both for students with undecided majors and who are just looking to get their basics done. Clubs and Activities Over 40 clubs, you can definitely find the right one that fits you. I suggest joining Leadership Academy because it's free, and it'll help you more in the future.
Bang for the buck Compared to universities, TCC's tuition is a pretty good deal.

Food and Dining If you're hungry, there's a Subway.
Dorm Life There are no dorms.
Academic Rigor This depends on your classes and your skills. While math is boring for me, it can be very difficult for you. But if you ever need help, there's different lab/rooms available for you to receive any help.
Tips for prospective students -When applying for FAFSA, if you have a job, check the link to the IRS. This will make your life so much easier. -Join a club! This will look good on your resume and you get to meet more people. -Become friends with at least one of your classmates. Then, you'll enjoy college more, -Introduce yourself to the faculty. Give a smile, firm handshake, and an introduction. Then, a door of opportunities will open up for you. -Have free time? Work on campus or help out for volunteer hours. -Have trouble balancing everything? Ask for help. -Talk to an academic advisor BEFORE you pick classes. -Check out sites or ask your friends to see which professors are good.

What to do for fun There isn't much.
Food and Dining All there is is Subway, which gets old very fast.
Dorm Life No dorms.
Academic Rigor I've only been studying here for about a month, therefore I haven't had any extensive assignments. Everything has been fairly simple so far.
Tips for prospective students This campus may seem overwhelmingly big, but after a few days of classes you get a good feel for where everything is. Be prepared to not get much help from the counselors/advisers.
In three sentences My professors all seem to be credible and respectful teachers; they seem to have our best interest in mind and are very helpful. The campus hasn't provided many social activities, which was something I was looking forward to. The counseling department is very unhelpful and does not encourage lots of questions. Professors: 8/10, overall campus: 7/10, counseling: 4/10.

Great for these types of students TCC is great for any student, but especially for those worried about how they will pay for college. Its even a good start for students who are scared of starting off in a huge university.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I feel very safe at the northwest campus, and there are always security cars roaming around all the campuses so I never feel threatened.
Greek Life There isnt any greek life. But we do have Phi Theta Kappa which is an honor society for all commuinity and juior colleges based on academic merit, its a great orgaization! Offers lots of voluteer oppurtunites and access to scholarships!
Clubs and Activities each campus has a student activites room and you can find out more information about what clubs are available in that campus and which interest you. At northwest we just started our chapter of student government association! There are also many more spanish club, poetry club, student leadership stuff, be sure to check them out! Its a great way to meet people with similar interests!
Great for these types of students Students who want to save money and want to get the basics out of the way!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Trinity is by far the nicest campus, however my favorite is northwest I think the people and staff are nicer there and actually want to help you out! TCC also offers a great nursing program!!
Bang for the buck Taking your basics at a community college is a great way to save money its the exact same credit and everything as a four year college and you pay way less!
What to do for fun There are always great events happening for TCC. We have a lot of fundraisers and awareness days so they always give out free popcorn and have someone talk it depends on which campus you go to though.
Food and Dining All the campuses have subway so it gets kinds off blah sometimes except the trinity campus, they have a different caterer which provides anything from pizza, to subs, to frappacinos.
Dorm Life TCC does not offer dorms
Academic Rigor The actual coursework varies from professor to professor but if you're taking anatomy and physiology, chemistry, or any science class or upper level math class don't expect them to be any less lenient than a four year school.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared, just because its a community college doesnt mean the coursework is any less easier, don't expect just to coast by and hardly do any work. However, it is easier to learn a subject because there wont be 100 students in a class, so take adavantage of that as well as the resources that the campus offers, like math and science tutoring labs.
In three sentences TCC is definitely a cheaper alternative than a four year college or junior colleges. They have plenty of locations all over the fort worth area; their campuses are very nice. Most teachers are great here and the small teacher to student ratio is perfect for the transition into college.

Categories Comments Campus Safety TCC has numerous emergency stations around campus that calls the campus police by the press of a button. Campus police are on call 24/7 and their cars are seen often around campus with the emergency number on their squad cars. If you have an emergency and you're not near one of the emergency stations, that' s the number you call.
Greek Life There are numerous Greek organizations, one of which I'm very interested in joining is Phi Theta Kappa, an honor society which focuses on academics and community service.
Clubs and Activities There's so many clubs and activities I can't even begin to count them. There's bound to be something for any student who wants to be involved.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There's a big chess board in the middle of the courtyard that students are free to use throughout the day.
Bang for the buck I am getting a great education by qualified professors a lot cheaper than most universities. Getting my AA at TCC is cheaper than most universities, so I'm definitely getting more than my money's worth here at TCC.
What to do for fun TCC has countless clubs and organizations to choose from, so it's easy to get involved with a group of people with similar interests to hang out and have a good time.
Food and Dining The NE campus (not sure about the other campuses) has a Subway in the student union building.
Dorm Life TCC doesn't have dorms, however there are nearby apartments by the NE campus.
Academic Rigor It really depends on the teacher and how hard the student is willing to work. However, for the most part, as long as you stay on top of notes, homework, and projects, getting a good grade in the class is very possible to achieve.
Tips for prospective students Choose back-to-back classes that are in nearby buildings so you're not all over the place all day, find your classes before the first day of school, and if you have questions about anything, there are plenty of people in the student union building, or your professors who are there to help you find the information you need.
In three sentences I go to the NE campus and I really like it because it made the transition for high school to college really smooth. The campus isn't too big to the point of intimidation, but big enough to where it doesn't seem like going to 13th grade at another high school. I am receiving a quality education for very little money compared to most universities.

Dorm Life There are no dorms.
Academic Rigor As long as you take great professors, you'll do fine!

Categories Comments What to do for fun Due to Tarrant County College being a community college there aren't many different activities to do on campus besides studying in the library. There are different groups to join though for different activities.
Food and Dining Food and Dining at the campus was very convenient to me because there was a Subway in the same vicinity as the library. Although I wasn't very excited about it because I found it to be the only place to eat at on campus. Fortunately, there are many places off campus that are nearby to go eat at.
Dorm Life Due to this college being a community college there was no dorm life available.
Academic Rigor The academic rigor there like I said before was not too difficult but also not too easy, but I think that all varies with the different courses that you decide to take and Tarrant County College provides many different courses to choose from. From my own personal experience there I found it to be not too difficult. With that it is very easy to transfer.
Tips for prospective students The main tip that I would give for prospective students would be to just attend the classes and build a relationship with your professors. I feel as if one of the main reasons I did so well there was because I made it a priority to have a relationship with my teachers just so I could make it easier on myself with learning the material.
In three sentences Tarrant County College was a very positive experience for me and I strongly advise anyone that is considering this college as an option to go ahead and enroll. There, I realized several different opportunities while I was there and found the courses not too challenging but also not too easy. Overall I had a great experience at Tarrant County College and in leaving there I am very prepared to continue my future on at the University level.

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities There is usually interesting conferences and speeches here and there such as The Love Conference where students learn about the reality of romantic relationships.
Bang for the buck This is one of the most affordable colleges in Texas with a current $52 dollar charge per credit hour for Tarrant County residents.
What to do for fun The Northwest campus has a game room and a separate room with couches and TV. There is also a gym to exercise. Most people go off-campus to have fun.
Food and Dining I attend the Northwest campus and the food is overpriced.
Dorm Life Since this is a community college there is no dorm life.
Academic Rigor Some classes can be extremely difficult while others are extremely easy.
Tips for prospective students Beware of buying from the bookstore! E-mail your professors to inquire about buying older editions of the required text and purchase these items online. Visit your professors during office hours to establish rapport and seek guidance. Lastly, keep in mind that this is a commuter school so to have a social life befriend your classmates and invite them out rather than expecting a social life to be established at school.
In three sentences Along with being one of the most affordable community colleges in the state of Texas, Tarrant County College also offers educational value for the money that is spent. Class sizes are small and professors are warm and engaging. There are six campuses around the Dallas/Fort Worth area that make the college very accessible to attend.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The waterfall on the Northwest campus is beautiful.
Bang for the buck You definitely get your money worth for the education that you receive.
What to do for fun There are various clubs that you can join, or attend one of the many plays that are performed.
Food and Dining These campuses have gotten rid of the kitchen style, and now have Subway on all campuses. The dining area where the students sit and eat at are very comfortable. They have tv's in all of the lobby's and there are quiet places sprinkle throughout for studying.
Dorm Life This campus doesn't have any dorms.
Academic Rigor The academics here are good. The teachers that I have had, knows what they are teaching and really good at breaking it down to a level where the students can understand. Most of them are very personable and approachable.
Tips for prospective students My tips for prospective students is to get all required information turned in as soon as possible. Go up to the campuses and walk around to get a feel of the campuses. Compare this school price to other schools in the area, and you will see that this is the best choice.
In three sentences I really like it here at Tarrant County, they are degree oriented, and really care about the students achieving their degree. You still get the university feel, but without the large classrooms. The staff is very knowledgeable about the subjects.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck Definitely worth going to a community college to save money in the long run.
Food and Dining I live at home, so the food is always great.
Dorm Life I live at home.
Academic Rigor The work seemed at the same level as high school, which I did not expect. Compared to my fellow classmates, they seemed to have a much more difficult time adjusting to the amount of work and studying they had to do. Certainly, in some classes the studying seemed like a lot, but the work was worth it because the teachers made me want to work hard for them.
Tips for prospective students I know that going to a community college may not have been what you had in mind, but it certainly makes the transition from high school to college easier. And in the end, saving money makes it less stressful when transferring to a four year college.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Its a pretty small school compared to a lot of other colleges out there so the smaller area with a lot of cops will generally make it pretty safe.
Clubs and Activities Right now I attend a public speaking club, and I preferably like it just because I love to speak in front of crowds and get my opinions and ideas heard.
Great for these types of students This is great for the students that are new to college (young and old) because your not overwhelmed by huge intimidating classes or the unneeded drama that occurs when you are living in a dorm.
Bang for the buck The extremely cheap prices are very appealing that make it easier on the pocket. And the cheaper cost doesn't mean that its a low rate school either.
What to do for fun On a daily basis (which I consider fun) I workout and share workout ideas with my friends, which mainly consist of gym rats just like myself.
Food and Dining The southeast campus that I attend has poor food selection but what do you expect to see when going to a community college. The only thing to eat their is subway and the taste can be burned out pretty quickly.
Academic Rigor The difficulty of the classes are not to overbearing, but it does wake you up from the high school experience to the college one.
Tips for prospective students Get your mind right and don't let any of the nay-sayers tell you different this is still a college and cannot be treated as a measly small high school. '
In three sentences It has a some what of a high school feel to it, but its great to see that there is a melting pot kind of environment. The teachers are helpful and you can actually get to know them personally instead of someone who just stands up in front of 40+ students and lectures. It has beautiful architecture at the Trinity campus and is a sight to see.

Food and Dining The cafeterias are very expensive. So if you go to the trinity river campus go down to seventh street to eat or go downtown to all the wonderful restaurants.
Dorm Life There is no dorm life.
Academic Rigor The classes are very challenging.
Tips for prospective students Just because this is a community college does not mean it is easy. The professors will challenge you. Make sure to do all your homework and study constantly. If you need help or do not get something meet up with your professor they will help you. Also make study groups with your classmates.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I got to say that I love the safety at this campus. There is always a way to get help, either from pressing a button that calls a cop/security guard, to personnel on campus to watch out for crime.
Greek Life No idea.
Clubs and Activities Plenty to pick from.
Great for these types of students Sociable! There is always a group of students talking about something. And there is a wide range of degrees you can pick from. Love that!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Sometimes there's a person walking around in the longhorn outfit.
Bang for the buck I'm not going to give 5 stars because that would mean I was going for free! But I can say that you would save money by going here instead of a University.
What to do for fun There is a whole list of club one can attend here. Pick the one that is right for you.
Food and Dining Healthy living is always on their minds. Subway is just a walk through the front doors.
Dorm Life Can't say that I know sense I live with my parents.
Academic Rigor I don't want to say this college is hard, for once someone sees that, they tell themselves they can't do it. Every teacher is different, sometimes the teacher will work with you or is just trying to get their hours. That's part of life and depends completely on the individual. But if you ever need help, there are so many places to get it. I am horrible with math. Most are. So I am always saved by the Math Lab, free and open all the time!
Tips for prospective students Apply to as many scholarships as you can! Whats the worse they can do, say no? Never know if you don't try. Study! I went into college thinking I wouldn't need to study. College is different and more fast paced. And if you're paying for your own education, save up now and whenever you can. Those text books will kick your butt.

Clubs and Activities Some clubs offer a lot of opportunity to be social and serve the community, others don't even answer emails or hold meetings. Looks good on a college application though.
Great for these types of students Great to get the basics out of the way. The teachers are passionate about what they teach.
Bang for the buck Some of the classes are worth it if you get the passionate teacher, but I had to take 2 of the same classes because they wouldn't give me the credit for the 1/2 course and the books are too expensive. Try Boundless.com for books or rent a hard copy at Chegg.com.
What to do for fun Play pool/billiards, if they're ever open, swim, if you have the time, or sit on computer social networking. Outside of school, anything else.
Food and Dining Haven't had the cafeteria food, other than donuts on club booth day, but the Subway food is good. :)
Dorm Life Off campus so no review. TCC doesn't have dorms.....
Academic Rigor Basic classes were super easy and college major classes were ok if you studied. Most teachers were there to help if you need it and if not, then they had labs where a passionate teacher would help.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I get notifications on my phone if there is an emergency or something of the like. I find it very convenient. I tend to see the campus police often as well.
Clubs and Activities Some of the clubs here simply cannot be taken seriously.
Bang for the buck You are likely at TCC for three reasons: you slacked off in high school, you did not know where to go after high school or you want to save money. The classes at TCC do well for the student's pocket, and you will feel good after taking a class in which you've built a solid foundation for upper-level courses for a 4 year university and saved money at the same time.
Food and Dining I have never ate at the cafeteria.
Dorm Life I live off-campus.
Academic Rigor The classes I've picked so far are challenging. I am doing mostly first and second year science courses. On regards to the rest such as English, history, etc--I would not consider challenging unless you get a professor who doesn't know what they're doing, can't explain concepts well and has unrealistic demands.
Tips for prospective students Once you're at TCC do not slack off. It is easier to forget you're in college and that can lead to overestimating. Work hard and transfer as soon as possible.
