Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Work hard in high school, it will pay off in the long run. It may get you the extra money for college or prepare you for the professors.
Bang for the buck Since it is a private college, it is more expensive than public or state schools. However, all the teachers are excellent and are willing to help all students.
Am enjoying being here We have activities every week. It's amazing!
Am learning a lot I am a current freshman at TWC. I feel like my academics have soared so much higher since high school. I feel everyday in class is not a waste.

Categories Comments Campus Safety it's a small campus, in a small part of the town of athens. not much goes wrong that i've seen or heard of. although, you do need to be prepared for anything just in case. of course, weapons, violence, and drugs are not allowed on campus. there is zero tolerance for it. there are about 3 security officers that walk the campus and keep an eye on things. they are always there if needed. plus, since the cafiteria is open to the public, the local police and firemen like to come and eat lunch and dinner on campus.
Greek Life there are two sorority houses and one fraternity house on campus. i'm not in either so i don't know much about them.
Clubs and Activities twc offers a wide variety of clubs. from the martial arts club to the criminal justice society. there is literally something for everyone at this college. most of the clubs are free minus the cost of t-shirts, and there are tons of free trips you get to go on in these clubs. there are many sports at twc, although football isn't one of them, we have tennis, soccer, baseball, softball, cheerleading, and many more. plus the entertainment groups like chorus, band, or theatre.
Great for these types of students this is a great place for students who want a quiet, small campus. there's alot of beauty and peacefulness to the enviroment and not alot of chaos like you would find at a bigger campus. it's a christian college and offers alot of opportunities to help the local churches, shelters, and nursing homes. so it you love community service opportunities, this is the place for you. all the classes are more hands-on. the professors really want to make sure you can work well with your peers, and they try there best to make things easy to follow and fun.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus there is a memorial on campus of an native american princess and her caucasian lover located on campus. they were supposebly buried where the statues now stand and the legend is a big tale around here. there is also alot of history in some of the buildings and supposibly a few ghost stories about them.
Bang for the buck tennessee wesleyan is a pretty expensive school but i believe it's worth every cent. it's a small campus but you have all the free tutoring, free clubs(minus t-shirt prices), free convocational, and you get a free membership to the ymca located down the road from twc as long as you are a student. and for the easily stressed students, the family counceling center a couple of blocks off campus offers 3 free sessions per semester, so if you don't feel you can talk to the professors, you can go there and get everything off your chest. twc offers alot of freebies and the price of tuition is considerably reasonable when you look at everything this college has to offer.
What to do for fun as mentioned before, the student academic center has pool tables for fun. the school host concerts, presentations, and occasional arts and crafts opportunities. these are known as convocational and atleast 5 are required every semester to graduate. plus, the campus has a lot of clubs and organizations to join. there are bake sells, homecoming, the mayfield festival, and many other events the school hosts for the fun of the students and the rest of the community.
Food and Dining tennessee wesleyan has two dining places on their campus. the cafeteria, which is open to the public, has an all you can eat food bar. the prices to get in are reasonable considering once you get in you can eat all you want. there is a special deal for commuters with financial aid, if you sign up for the lunch plan, the cafeteria staff put so much of your scholarship money on your student id card so you can just swipe it and not have to pay unless you run out. then there is the grille in the student academic center (sac). it has burgers, fries, smoothies, sodas, and many other items, like a little fast food restraunt. it has open space for studying and club meetings, and pool tables and tv's for if you just wanna relax and eat. every student gets $50 dollars on their id card to use at the grille every semester. then there is the many snack and drink machines on campus, and the snacks that are offered in the school bookstore. tennessee wesleyan will not let you go hungry.
Dorm Life i don't live on campus, but from what i've heard the dorm conditions are pretty nice. the only problems are in the girls dorm rooms there isn't good internet reception. the sorority house supposibly has very unclean bathrooms and the boys dorm room is supposibly haunted.
Academic Rigor tennessee wesleyan really care's about the students. they offer free tutoring and the professors always make time to help their students if they are struggling. they also care about the mental and emotional state of their students and will offer help and lend an ear to anyone who needs it, so you can get your stress in the open and be able to concentrate on your work. the professors are very knowledgable and are all about hands-on teaching, which makes it alot easier to learn.
Tips for prospective students look into scholarships, twc is a very expensive school. make sure if you plan to attend twc, that you will be able to be there on time and go to tutoring when needed. your gpa means everything.
In three sentences tennessee wesleyan is a great college and worth the money. the professors take time to help each individual student and they don't just treat their students like a number. they really try to get you envolved in the community to help better your service leader skills and prepare you for your future.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety has a huge presence and their number can be found on ever wall in every building. Security officers are on duty 24/7 and the Athens Police department is no more than 1/4 mile up the road.
Greek Life Greek life isn't huge but we do have 2 sororities and one fraternity. Most sports teams function as our Greek families.
Clubs and Activities From theatre to karate club we have it all. Math clubs, business, education, criminal justice, all kinds of academic clubs, sports clubs, intramural teams and mens/womens teams. There is a little something for everyone.
Great for these types of students This school is by far not a party school. There is a party on occassion but nothing too wild and crazy. Students here aren't 100% academic though. This school is dead center, students know how to let loose and be crazy while at the same time balancing a good gpa and relationship with professors. Students should want professors to take interest in them as it will inevitably happen. This is a great school for those who wish to seek a graduate degree, or for those who wish to graduate early as most graduate in 3 years with a bachelors. This is a school for students who want a college experience without the hardcore crazy peers or the dead serious peers.
Bang for the buck 90% of all students receive financial aid. At $500 per normal semester hour and $210 per summer semester hour, this school is already affordable. Most aid covers %50 or more of tuition.
What to do for fun Our student government and student activities board is simply amazing. Teacher verses student activities each week, eating contests, movie nights and so much more are just some of the on campus activities. Of course there are movie theatres, restaurants and other attractions around town, not to mention you are within driving distance to 2 water/amusement parks and a multitude of malls.
Food and Dining Fresh coffee in the library at all times, an on campus grill and juice bar and a full functioning mess hall. The cafeteria caters professionally and the food is great, breakfast is made to order fresh every day with local produce including homemade waffles ommlets and french toast. Lunches are also great with sandwiches, soups and a meat each day as well as pizza, fries, and other stations open daily, dinner is full with appitizers, entrees and dessert, best of all, these meals are completely affordable and open to the public.
Dorm Life I don't live on campus but the dorms are very nice. I've stayed in them with friends and the apartments are well kept up (Nocatula) Keith and Fowler are the Womens and Mens dorms respectively and they are simple and basic dorms. Wesley Commons are more upscale dorms and are for men and women, they are very nice and cozy.
Academic Rigor Many of the ACRs (All College Requirements) are very easy and can be used as fluff classes while taking some of the harder core classes. If you enjoy the subject you are studying you will love the classes here. Although they are difficult, the professors are so passionate it really makes learning the material easier because it is fun.
Tips for prospective students Make sure to take as many classes as you can your first year, it knocks out some really easy classes such as computers and acting both are pre-reqs and easy to handle with little-no homework. This will help when later on you only want to take 4 classes because they get harder. It keeps you on track to graduate in 3-4 years.
In three sentences This school has an amazing student/professor ratio. The small classes allow for intimate interaction and allow each class to be taught in a way that is best for the particular group. Most professors are easily accessible and are willing to help you in anyway possible, jobs, grad school or even just making it through the semester.

What to do for fun You have about a 20 minute drive to do anything fun to be honest.

In three sentences Tennessee Wesleyan is actually a wonderful college due to the apparent enthusiasm from the staff. The campus is small, quaint, and comfortable. And the food is delicious.

Categories Comments Food and Dining The food is pretty good and for a reasonable price. You can eat as much as you want as many times a day as you wish. Everything including the workers is clean and sterile. You will love the cafeteria if you have a sweet tooth. There is also salad bar for those who do not eat meat.
Dorm Life Noisy, loud, a little bit immature as those freshmen and 2nd years finally taste a bit of freedom. Anyone would get angry once or twice. One the other hand, the RAs are always helpful and understanding. They basically become friends with anyone who wants to be friends with them.
Academic Rigor Even the smartest students are challenged by the course they are taking. TWC is one of the best stepping stones for the ones who plan to go beyond the Bachelor's degree. You will find many friends and may even be brought together with some alumni that could help you in your pursuit of profession.
Tips for prospective students You can be accepted even if you do not have the highest grades in your class, or if you are considering transferring. So do not worry. You will not have any difficulties as to adjusting to living on campus either, except for the individuals who like to take their education lightly, and, on top of that have a drinking/drug problem. Such attitude is intolerable at this Institution of Higher Education and you will fail.
In three sentences You should enroll if you have the means of paying for your studies completely because the school is a wise investment. If you don't have the money, then you will consider transferring, without doubt. TWC is not very keen on giving scholarships and they are generally not significant. On the other hand, if you play sports and you're good at what you do, then you're in good hands.

What to do for fun There are plenty of on-campus activities. However, if you want to leave there are so many activities in Athens. The interstate is just a few miles away so go wher you want.

Tips for prospective students Do your paperwork early. Always go a day early and find your classes. Find common ground with the professors, they can help you.
