Categories Comments Great for these types of students that wants to feel like home and want to learn more by getting help.
Tips for prospective students join in as many activities as you can, without exceeding yourself, and I mean that you have time to do your homework and enjoy yourself, and not just wanting time to do your homework, but to hang around.
Bang for the buck if it's about the financial need I think it was a lot help because I come from a poor family and don't have the money so I can get and education.
Am enjoying being here because I feel safe, I get a lot of help in everything I have a question, I love the way I feel being in this university.
Am learning a lot because what I don't get I joined program called TRIO and it's for tutoring and it helps me a lot at least the first days; we were kind of skimming, but i learned .

Categories Comments Campus Safety The one thing this university has is safety. Campus police is top of every rule. Keep an eye out for them they can be your best friend or foe.
Greek Life Don't think this like the movies, the university is new to the Greek life so it is in its growing stage but they do have a lot of thing for its members.
Clubs and Activities There are a few clubs for students they are a lot of fun some hold concerts while others have midnight paintball, scavenger hunts and other activities for its members.
Great for these types of students Great for students who want to a great education at a low price. A laid back student who doesn't mind having some fun from time to time.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus You will have to learn about from experience.

The university also has concerts, shows, and fitness classes thought the year.
Food and Dining On campus dinning is just what you'd expect from any university, not many choices but if a quick meal is what you need you'll find it on campus. Around town there are plenty of amazing local restaurants that are open late and delicious all within 3 miles from the university.
Dorm Life Don't expect things to get to crazy, the dorm life on campus is more casual and laid-back. Things can get out of hand but campus police always finds a way to take charge of the situation.
Academic Rigor It can be difficult yet the university supplies support and the professors don't mind lending a hand when things get tough.
Tips for prospective students Apply for any activity possible. Stay informed on policies and deadlines, late fees will sneak up.

Categories Comments Campus Safety tamiu is an extremely safe and homy environment. with campus police always on duty, college life for all the students is one of harmonious security.
Bang for the buck tamiu is a definite bang for your buck! tuition is very affordable, along with financial aid and numerous scholarship opportunities offered. the financial help here in tamiu is so good that many of the student's refund money is up to $2,000! not to mention the education, the experience and the friends you make are amazing and all wrapped in one great learning institution.
What to do for fun there are many great activities that occur throughout the week on campus such as plays, recitals, concerts, basketball games, soccer games and school spirit events. tamiu is located in the great city of laredo. just like the university, laredo is growing rapidly with movie theaters, great restaurants, parks and for you ladies, a great shopping mall that includes texas's biggest forever 21 store!
Food and Dining the food in tamiu is amazing! dusty's dinner is the best! so many great choices of delicious food to choose from. the best part is that there are certain days throughout the semester when you can get a free meal at the diner for participating in fun events! food and fun for free?? what more can a college student ask for??
Dorm Life compared to some big and popular campuses, tamiu's dorms provide the perfect privacy and living accommodations. you share a bathroom with your roommate while each of you have your own separate bedroom with a spacious bed, desk, drawer and sliding door closet! i know i can speak for many people when i say that we would all prefer to share a bathroom and shower with one single person than with the entire floor.
Academic Rigor the classes at texas a&m international university are all challenging but achievable. there is always someone to study with or a tutor who can help you strengthen the coursework you did not understand.
Tips for prospective students future college freshman, the first and biggest piece of advice i can give is to ask questions! don't be scared to ask questions because if there is anything confusing you did not understand, whether it'd be college admission deadlines, or scholarships, asking your counselor or even a college representative is always the way to go. secondly, keep a journal or a planner nearby where you can jot down important deadlines, stay on top of things and get all tasks done so you won't miss out on those great scholarships and financial opportunities. my final piece of advice is to have an open mind. many of us have a set list of universities we want to attend to but each college has something great and unique about them. visit their campuses, talk to the students, explore outside of that list because there is a great college out there for each and everyone of us.
In three sentences texas a&m international university is a small but rapidly growing university filled with accomplished professors, always helpful staff and friendly students. one of the best things about a small university is all the help you receive both financially and academically through many scholarships and student tutors who are eager to help you with some of those difficult courses you have trouble with. tamiu offers many opportunities, insightful courses and a successful college education.

Academic Rigor Classes are challenging but if you have a major you like you will do fine. Complete lower level classes first to prepare you for upper level classes and be prepared to do some homework!

Dorm Life The dorms are brand new and kept clean, safe, and in working order at all times. The Director of Housing is dedicated and hard working and he ensures us top notch quality in dorm life as well as organizes different events to keep residents entertained and happy.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Culture and diversity is held to a very high standard here at TAMIU. After all, it is Texas A&M INTERNATIONAL University.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus TAMIU is very well known for its wildlife. You will walk to class every day with doe, deer, hogs, roadrunners, etc. roaming amongst the student body. Not to worry, these beautiful animals have adapted to mankind and are practically harmless.
Bang for the buck After an extensive research, TAMIU is one of the most affordable University in this country. The cost of attendance here is a great trade for the level education you will receive.
What to do for fun There is a great Intramural program at TAMIU which includes roughly 32 different sports, all in which are played throughout each semester. This is a great way to have fun and meet other individuals with similar interests. If sports is not your thing, there are Zumba fitness classes offered every day free of charge to all enrolled students. All of this and much more while staying on campus and saving on gas prices.
Food and Dining This is not your average cafeteria food. There are cuisine options to explore at every end of the University including, but not limited to, Starbucks, Pizzerias, Home style, and Subway. If none of those are to your liking there are many restaurants surrounding the University within five minutes of travel.
Dorm Life Housing and Residence Life at TAMIU is excellent. All the buildings (dorms) are fairly new and you can tell. Any problems you may encounter will be fixed quickly. Housing offers many residence programs as well.
Academic Rigor It is most definitely University material teaching and learning. Professors try their best every day to ensure that their students are learning at the next level.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are few campus cops walking around and when something is turned into the lost and found, forget about getting it back. On several occasions I have heard people losing their phones to the campus cops.
Greek Life The Greek life is very limited. There are no houses and the parties you would expect are not there. Being in a Greek affiliation in this campus is just something to add to your resume.
Great for these types of students This univeristy caters to the business majors as well as the nursing students and teachers. One out of every ten people you will meet will be a communication disorders major. If you do not fit into one of those categories, stay strong to what you want to do or else the administartors will try to change your major to fit into their perfect little boxes.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Beware of the wildlife! Seriously, this campus is in the wilderness so there are deer constantly running around, no fear they will not hurt you, as well as wild boars, skunks, birds of many, and the occasional possum.
What to do for fun In Laredo there is not much to do. Most of the college students go out clubbing constantly. And if not that then the local mall or the movies. Laredo has a lake that is dirty, but very poplular still and a golf course.
Food and Dining There is the food court that consists of a burger joint, a pizza parlor and a subway. There is also another pizza parlor in another area of the campus. They all close early so don't plan late dinners.
Dorm Life I have always lived off-campus so I cannot fully give opinion on this, but everyone I know loves the dorms and always says its one big party there.
Academic Rigor This university is not very challenging, but if you are not a major that they prefer you will have a very hard time with finding classes and getting extra help.
Tips for prospective students Make sure that you find out who your advisor's (in both the mentoring center and financial aid office) and speak with them constantly so you will not be blindsided with ridiculous requirements that you have not met or be unable to register for classes due to holds.
In three sentences On a 1-10 scale I would rate this school as a 3. The overall experience is not a very pleasant one, and I say this because I have attended another university out of state and my experience there was far greater.

Dorm Life At the dorms you get to meet new people. The clubhouse and the pool is a great way to interact with others. Its your home away from home.
Academic Rigor Classes may be difficult depending on what the subject is and how hard you try. As long as you study and work hard, you will be fine. Professors can also help out, DO NOT be afraid to ask questions.
Tips for prospective students Come with a positive mindset. Tamiu is a very calm campus. Everyone is friendly.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus security is always actively traveling through the campus. Even if campus security isn't around you do have the safety poles which have a button you can press that will alert campus security to your location.
Clubs and Activities There are plenty of clubs and activities that any student can be part of with a little determination. From the Glee club to the TAMIU Band there are many options for everybody. Even if you can't find the club that is right for you, all you need is a few friends willing to be part of your organization, a few more steps after that and you will have your own club on campus.
What to do for fun From campus events like soccer and basketball games to just hanging out with your friends there is always something you can do. Spending time at Starbucks, studying in the library or just appreciating the splendor of the campus you will always find yourself somewhere.
Food and Dining When it comes to the food and dining at TAMIU you will always have options. You can either choose from the actual cafeteria where the food is made or you can choose from the restaurants there such as Subway or Comfort Foods. If you don't want to eat something exactly healthy you have options and if you want to eat healthier you do have those options as well.
Dorm Life I don't live on campus but every new student that has orientation at TAMIU has to stay on campus and the dorms are pretty good. They are not like those expected dorms where both your dorm mate and you sleep in the same room. You have your own individual room and the only accommodations that you share are the bathroom (toilet & shower).
Academic Rigor When it comes to your major you'll always find your classes interesting and pretty easy. Even if you don't find some of your classes easy the professors are very open and welcoming encouraging you to ask them questions about the class either before, during or after class.
Tips for prospective students If you ever need any help, whether it be with your class assignments or you're just having general problems, you always have somebody there whether it be the faculty, staff or the friends that you make in classes.
In three sentences The campus has a very ecstatic vibe that rubs off onto everyone. People might always seem busy, but if you need help at all anyone is practically willing to aid you in whatever you need. The campus has many helpful tools that are there when and if you ever need them so you never feel alone in whatever endeavors you're seeking to pursue.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Close to the university, there is a movie theater and some restaurants to chill out. The closest mall (the only mall) is around 15 minutes from campus.
Food and Dining To my opinion, the food is a bit pricey and not worth it. But carrying a sandwich can be a better option.
Dorm Life The activieties that the RLC provides, serves to meet new people and have fun while living the college life.
Academic Rigor Nothing comes easy, so yes there is some rigor academically. Just be aware when the classes are offered; because some are given just in fall or just in spring, every other year, or only summers.
Tips for prospective students Reading and doing assignments are key to succeed. Besides, procrastination is not a good friend to be around. Having a planner with you, can be very, very helpful.
In three sentences Texas A&M International University has a great diversity of students and gives the opportunity to meet people form other countries. This university's science professors are dedicated and care about the students' learning. The infraestructire of the university continues to grow to give students a better service.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are emergency code blue poles all over campus that connect you straight to the campus police and if the line is busy it gets redirected to the city police station. The school is too calm for anything to happen, trust me.
Greek Life I'm not involved but i heard its a lot of fun. They have barbeques and games around campus where everyone can join in (for free) and sometimes they put on a little show and dance.

Dorm Life I don't live in the dorms. I went in there for orientation and they're not too bad. But they're right on campus so that saves gas and time.
Academic Rigor Classes at TAMIU are challenging but can be easily passed with hard work.
