Categories Comments Great for these types of students This school is best for students coming from smaller towns with smaller high schools (or anyone who prefers smaller classes) because the classes are larger, but not too overwhelming compared to other schools like Texas A&M - College Station or the University of Texas. The largest class at TAMU-CC is 250 students, whereas at one of those other universities the largest classes are up to 500 or 600 people. The nursing program is very strong, so anyone interested in nursing or medicine should apply, as well as anyone who wants to try and transfer to Texas A&M - College Station.
Tips for prospective students Build a good relationship with the guidance counselors there, because they are very helpful. The general student population is very kind and helpful, so don't be intimidated by the fact that they are college students. They were once in your shoes, so most people will always be willing to be helpful. It's probably best to live on campus your first year to make sure you meet more people, and it is also a lot easier to get to class on time when you have a five minute walk compared to a ten minute drive, and the ten minutes extra trying to find a rare parking spot. Try and meet as many new people and groups to find your place, but remember at the same time that while college is an experience, you're there to receive your degree and get the best grades possible.
Bang for the buck When measuring the price of the school versus the quality of the education, this school in my opinion is one of the bargains out of any public four year colleges in Texas. To take 15 hours, which is generally what the average student takes, is about $3,000-$3,300 per semester including the price of books. The quality of education is a lot stronger then people anticipate going to a smaller commuter or feeder school, and it is definitely a bargain. The only semi-complaint would be the price of housing on campus, which is inflated about $75-$100 higher per month then the normal apartment or dorm room. Students should probably live on campus for the first year to network and meet people, and then move to off campus apartments or lease a house in the neighborhood near campus to be more affordable in the future.
Am enjoying being here Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi is a smaller community then many other universities, which can be good or bad depending on the type of person you are. I personally enjoy the larger crowds and communities and meeting as many people as possible, which you can certainly do here, just not to the extent that you would at a larger college. There are plenty of opportunities to meet new people, and chances to meet them such as luncheons and gatherings, but they always to seem to be at inconvenient times. I personally have developed a smaller group of friends, all of whom are in the same major and have the same general class schedule and curriculum as I do. As far as the school itself, the campus is one of the most beautiful in the countries hands down. There are colorful tropical flowers all over the campus, it is sunny just about every day, and from just about any class room you can look out and see water on all sides (because the school is on an island). The city itself is nice, but other then the beach, a few clubs, and Corpus Christi Hooks baseball games, there aren't many typical college restaurants or entertainment.
Am learning a lot Being a commuter school, I figured the classes would be very boring and simple. It turns out that for the most part, they were anything from that. Almost every teacher I have had has no problem slowing down during a class and making sure everyone understands the information being taught, and every teacher has designated office or tutoring hours to make sure that each student has the opportunity to learn a lot. I am a Math Major, so I am learning a lot each day in upper level classes, however even in basic core classes that every student has to take I found myself learning plenty of new information. Classes at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi are generally smaller then a lot of universities. In my major specific classes there are anywhere from ten to thirty students. My core classes have anywhere from 100-250 students, however each professor has many teacher assistants and graders, so there is always someone to contact in order to help learn material incase you are struggling.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Anyone looking into an Education degree [my major]- At TAMUCC they work to get you into the classrooms and student teaching asap. Most of the Junior and Senior Year are observing and Student teaching at the Early Childhood Development Center on campus. This is basically a lottery school that has Pre-K 3, Pre-K 4, Kinder and 1st through 6th grades. They even offer work-study jobs there [I am doing that as well and it is definitely amazing.] Nursing students- I hear we have a very good nursing program here, with the new building just about ready to open and everything. Anyone that loves the beach- the view of the bay is just beautiful. I love studying in the library and being able to look out and see the water. There is a place for just about anyone here. It is really easy to get involved and the people are really nice. I highly suggest it.
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus. Learn about the different clubs you can join. Check out the program they offer for your major. I know this is an excellent place to get an Education degree and a Nursing degree. [Our brand new nursing building is opening sometimes in 2010 I think! And we have a college of business building on the way.] But visit once, visit twice. Look around the town and get to know it. Make sure you want to be here and don't settle on just any college.
Bang for the buck College is expensive, lets face it. But at TAMUCC they help you find the right scholarships and financial aid. There are many people, from the financial aid and scholarship office to the different college's offices, that are more than ready to help you get money for school. TAMUCC is also not as expensive as some colleges. It is just about the same as most other public schools.
Am enjoying being here I absolutely love the campus. Its located on its own little island and even has a very small beach. The real beaches are also a short drive away and the weather, though sometimes random, is usually very nice. I have met so many friends and I am planning on joining a sorority next semester. The sororities and fraternities at TAMUCC are much different than other schools. We don't have special housing, but the greeks are like a family. Also, with a strict no-hazing policy, they are very safe. I have only heard good things about them. I attended the freshman camp called Aloha Days and it was pretty fun. I learned a lot about the school and met some really good friends. The campus is rather small. I can walk form one side to the other in less than 15 minutes for sure. There is also a really nice walking and biking trail around the island and plenty to do.
Am learning a lot The professors at TAMUCC really know what they are talking about. I have just completed my first semester here and the learning opportunities are everywhere. Even in the basic classes, the teachers still work hard to help you with everything you need and there are many tutoring times and places. The professors are always ready to answer questions through emails, phone calls, and office hours. I went to a smaller high school, where the teachers were all about preparing for college and trying to help and I see many similarities from high school into college. The classes can be more challenging at different points and I have had some struggles, but for the most part this college just wants to help you do the best you can and get you where you want to be. TAMUCC has a program called First-Year Learning Communities. They are an excellent place to meet people to study with and learn how to get the most out of your freshman year. I met my best friend in these classes and we have learned so much, studying together and working on projects.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This school is great for dedicated students who want a good education as well as students that want to experience the college life. There is great interaction between students and professors, which is great for those determined students, but there are also many student groups and sports teams for the student looking to have fun.
Tips for prospective students It is easy for college students to get caught up in partying which is only natural, but I would have to say to also stay focused on what you want from college and how well you would like to do. If you get to caught up in college life you might find yourself not doing as well as you anticipated.
Bang for the buck Compared to other four year universities, this college is inexpensive and easier to prepare for. Bigger universities such as A&M College Station are much more expensive and the teacher to student ratio is much larger which is also a downside. I think A&M Corpus Christi is a great bang for your buck!
Am enjoying being here I must admit this was not my first choice college, but it was the only college in which I applied that ended up having the major I chose. I do enjoy the classes and the interaction between student and professor, but Corpus does not hold much entertainment for students. There are sports, concerts, clubs, as well as malls, but no other sources that are cheaper for the struggling college students.
Am learning a lot I am a biomedical sciences major, so most of the curriculum I am taking consists of science courses. These classes are challenging and keep you working, but the education you receive is well worth the effort. The professors are kind and are willing to listen to any problems you are having as well as help you through these problems. At bigger universities it is harder to have one on one time with the professors, which could lead to struggling through the class.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This school is great for people who are laid back and love the beach! There are not a whole lot of crazy places to walk to like in Austin but there are beautiful sites to see in down town Corpus. The students here are all really nice. The campus puts on a lot of activities and there is always something going on which I absolutely love.
Tips for prospective students If you want to go to college, go here! It is such an amazing place because they are very grade focused and seriously help you in every way possible to get you the grade you need. It's also a really good idea to become involved in different clubs and organizations because it is a great way to make friends and network. Don't be afraid to talk to people in your class, it's good to know everyone in there incase you miss or something comes up. Exercise when you can, it seriously helps your mind stay focused! College is something everyone needs to experience, it's life-changing.
Bang for the buck The cost of tuition here is very reasonable. My parents are very glad I chose to come here because it was in state and they are so helpful with helping find loans and other payment options. TAMUCC is affordable for a lot of people and it is totally worth every penny! The major cost for me is living on campus. My friends are paying a lot less to live off campus which is probably the route I should have taken. The university center offers a variety of food for a pretty good price. There is a chick-fil-a and fresh made sushi and other types of food for around 4 to 5 dollars a plate depending on what you get!
Am enjoying being here I did not know what to expect coming down here and now that I am here, I don't want to leave! I absolutely love all the different things they have to offer here. Since August I have become a part of a sorority and other organizations as well and they are all so beneficial to my personal skills. I love being able to study in the library while gazing at the beach simultaneously. It is a very relaxed environment here and the people are amazing. It is not a huge campus like UT or anything, but it is big enough to where I see new faces everyday. It is nice being here on the beach! We have our own little beach for the students which is really nice in the warm weather. As for the colder days however, there is not a whole lot to do.
Am learning a lot There are so many different course options here at TAMUCC. The school is incredible and the classes are so absorbing! The teachers here are so helpful. They are very willing to help all the students pass whether it is a class of 20 students or a class of 200. Here, you can tell the teachers love what they do and actually ENJOY teaching! I have learned so much from not only the teachers but the students as well. There are always study sessions going on and everyone is willing to help you.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Anyone will enjoy this campus.
Tips for prospective students Just come prepared. It's much more different from high school but overall its pretty good school.
Bang for the buck Its a bit expensive. Go to class and you'll get your money's worth.
Am enjoying being here One of the things I love about this campus is the scenery. Palm trees are everywhere and the landscaping is nice.
Am learning a lot There are many good professors here. Core Curriculum classes are usually the ones with the most students. If you like to make friends there are plenty of opportunities

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Overall, TAMUCC is great for everyone. If you love interaction with all types of new people, a well trained staff, low tuition rates, and more, then this university is for you.
Tips for prospective students There are several things I would recommend to a new student or someone who is planning on attending TAMUCC. 1. Always accept your awards through your S.A.I.L account. It may appear as though you've been awarded your tuition, but make sure that you hit the accept button or the awards will disappear after two weeks, and it is very hard to get them back. (If you were under the Islander Guarantee, you will probably have to take out loans at this point.) Just make sure you accept your awards! 2. I would recommend buying your textbooks from an online source. Do some research and figure out where you will get them at the cheapest price. The campus book store is wonderful for souveniers/ college gear, but the price of the textbooks will not be very discounted. I would recommend getting USED textbooks because they are always cheaper. 3. Live on campus for your freshman year, or while you are adjusting to the college life or even just the campus. The rent is a little high, but you get free internet, phone, cable TV, and all other bills are paid. Living off campus can become more expensive if you have to pay bills! The Camden Miramar housing is wonderful and a very short distance from your classes.
Bang for the buck As previously mentioned, the professors are wonderful, and at the rate you will pay for tuition, you are definitely getting a high quality education at a low cost. If you are unsure about financial aid, have no worries, the Student Services Center/Financial Aid Office will help you in finding the best way for paying for your tuition.
Am enjoying being here Texas A&M Corpus Christi is a wonderful college. The campus is beautiful! I absolutely fell in love with the campus when I first visited. The university is full of loads of fun activities. Another wonderful thing is the cultural diversity. There are many different people from different cultures and walks of life. You can learn alot simply by interacting with other students.
Am learning a lot The campus is relatively small. There are only 10,000 students! The student to teacher ratio is very low, so you are able to lots of one-on-one time with the professors. Don't let freshman year discourage you, the classes are just a little larger that year than others due to a high volume of freshman taking basic courses! The professors are highly prestigious, meaning that they know the subjects they are teaching very well, and can basically answer any questions you have.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Really good for students that like to relax and have a good time while still being getting a good education.
Tips for prospective students Check out your professors online before you pick them. Living on campus is a really good way to meet people and it's very continent but it is really expensive so if money is problem for you, I suggest looking for apartments around the area. And on that note, know that Islander village is a big party area so be careful if that's not what you are interested in. If you get the chance, go the the freshman camp that they have. You meet a lot of new people and have lots of fun! You get close to the counselors and they are other student's at the school so you might even have a class with them.
Bang for the buck This is one of the cheapest schools that I looked into. On campus housing is pretty expensive though. Tuition includes includes a lot including sporting events and a really nice and new gym.
Am enjoying being here It's amazing living by the beach, even if your not always going. Just the view of it can be very relaxing. The school has lots of really beautiful places to hang out like the gazebos on the running track around the bay also a good place to study. The people are really chill and relaxed. The city has a lot of fun things to do, anything from art museums to dancing clubs. The school doesn't have to much school spirit which is one thing that I would like more of. Eventually we will be getting a football team which I think will help the spirit problem greatly!
Am learning a lot The school has a lot of really good professors along with some that are just okay, but that is the same for every other school. All of the professors have office hours that you can talk to them and many have Student Instructors that are always more than ready to help you out and give you tips. Most of these SI leaders have sessions that they give where the students say what they need help on and they will go it and give you tips for upcoming exams. There are plenty of places to go to get help like tutoring, writing essays, and anything else you can think of. The school is very good at getting you help if you need the help!

Categories Comments Campus Safety there are officers on duty 24hrs a day so there is always someone there to help if needed.
Clubs and Activities there are many clubs and activities to get involved in there is always some type of event going on around campus.
Great for these types of students texas a&m corpus christi is a great place for every type of student. expecialy the fun and out going students. students who are serious about their studies, and students who like a close comunity atmosphere.
Bang for the buck The price of tuition is resonable. There are a lot of experinces you get at TAMUCC that you can not get any where else. The only thing that I do not agree with is th eon campus housing they are way over priced and there arnt very many other options.
What to do for fun there is always the beach, bowling and there are a few dance halls. there are also so historic sites to visit and the aquarium is always fun. We are also getting a Schlitterban.
Food and Dining they do not have a cafeteria they just have food vendors and the prices are really high, that's one of the only down side to the campus. There are not many food choices and its almost all fast food and pricey.
Dorm Life dorm life is a good experience it's very covenant and it is pretty quite. the facilities are really nice and the RA's are very helpful. the only down side is that Camden's prices are a little high and they are sometimes hard to reach.
Academic Rigor Acadimics are very important here at Texas A&M Corpus Christ. Its very competive and gradeas are taken sirioiusly.
Tips for prospective students Come to TAMUCC with an open mind and be ready to get involved for the ultimate college experience. dont let the beach distract you, focus on school first then play latter. Dont be afraid to talk to your professor they are more than willing to help you, just take the initiative and go talk to them.
In three sentences texas a&m university corpus christi is a great campus. the senery is beautiful, campus life is always busy you will never find yourself bored, and there are so may oppertunities for growth as a student. the profesors are really good at being there for their students and there are plenty of resorces if any help is needed in a corse.

Categories Comments Campus Safety tamucc has great security. i feel safe walking around campus a night because i always see a police car driving by. there is also a gate that closes after 11pm so you need your student id to get in the campus. and since we are located on an island, our neighbor is water so you never see random people walking by who aren't students.
What to do for fun corpus christi is a pretty calm city, not very active. sometimes i go to clubs around here or to the movies. but i usually go to the beach and just chill with friends.
Food and Dining the food on campus is mostly fast food and it's good but it can get pricey. but if you live in the apartments you have your own kitchen so you can make you're own food and if you live in a dorm there is a community kitchen in every floor. so it's up to you if you want to cook or pay for fast food.
Dorm Life let's face it, no dorm life is perfect. here at tamucc you can choose to either stay in a dorm or an apartment. the price is a little expensive but there are other options. there are many other apartments close to campus who have better deals but i like living on campus because i can get up a few minutes before class and just walk to class instead of driving and looking for a parking space.
Academic Rigor so far i have had amazing professors. they each have their own style of teaching but they're all great. sometimes you will have professors who are hard but there are many tutoring sessions that help you.
Tips for prospective students if you are looking for a party school than tamucc is not for you. this university and the city is very calm so if you are used to activity then this school is not for you. but if you want a school where you can easily concentrate on your studies than tamucc is a perfect choice.
In three sentences tamucc is a good university for people who are looking for a small school. the location is beautiful and the city is very small and relaxing. there are many resources such as tutoring centers to help you with classes and the professors are great.

Did enjoy being here The campus was amazing. The food court had many options and there were restaurants nearby. The only problem was the comstruction but that will be done soon.
Did learn a lot With the large lecture halls it was difficult to ask questions. English class was like a review of high school.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck The tuition and fees aren't bad at all. The real cost comes in your housing bill. Housing on campus isn't cheap at all but hoping it will be worth it when saving on gas just walking to class.
Will enjoy being here Lovely environment with the water surrounding all sides, even being the bays. Doesn't feel over crowded at all you could almost forget that your surrounded by a big city. Plus everyone is so friendly on campus very easy to meet new people.
Will learn a lot I have heard a lot of really great things about all the teachers and all the great student programs around campus to help when needed.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students I love the art studios here and most teachers keep them clean and comfortable since they are small we get more chances to talk to eachother and get fast help when needed. Most other majors I talk to aloso enjoy their buildings and professors. They have a great n funny staff and they care about you so if you are looking for people who care it would be here.
Tips for prospective students If you have dreams then you can accomplish them anywhere and it doesn't matter what school you go to just as long as you take up any opportunities that you can and achieve your dreams. The fact that this school isn't huge means more teacher time and its a tighter community for all and it makes it less scary. just remember not to do something or go somewhere just because everyone else is; follow your instinct.
Bang for the buck This is a university so it is pricey but it is not as bad as some other schools. Printing went down to .10 cents a sheet and they are doing a new thing with $5 worth of free printing so I can't complain. It really is a good deal to come here and enjoy the scenery by the bay not many schools are on their own little island so it is worth the costs especially for the education and exciting events.
Am enjoying being here I enjoy the comfort atmosphere of my hometown and the campus is beautiful and a good size for the number of students we have. I travel to other campuses but I still do not want to change universities because its so homelike here and there are people who genuinely care about your education; teachers may even ask you to not text during their class because its rude and it really is rude to interrupt like that so I'm glad for that and it helps to focus without others distracting you from the class.
Am learning a lot I would definitely not be where I am now without the help from these professors. Being an art student, there were so many techniques that i have learned from just one year of being here. I was born here and never wanted to leave but most of my friends went off to other states but I believe you can get a Harvard education ANYWHERE!!! All it takes is dedication.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Great for all types of students. There's literally something here for everyone! Only on a Smaller Campus.
Tips for prospective students Develop good study habits before coming into college will make life a whole lot easier, but if you don't have good study skills, then the people as the CASA will help you learn new skills. Also, don't forget to have fun! there are plenty of things to be involved in around campus!
Bang for the buck Like I mentioned earlier, TAMU-CC has one of the highest retention rates. They don't want to see you fail, and as such, offer a wide variety of tutoring and counseling services to help you do better. If I was going to a bigger campus or university I'm willing to bet my very little money that it wouldn't be anything like what we have here. Next semester I'm registerred to take 18 credit hours, and all of my tuition and fees only cost about the $3200 range, when on any bigger campus it would be twice that fo sure. Not only is it cheaper, it's also better because each professor really wants to see you succeed and do your best.
Am enjoying being here The campus is rich with lush tropical foliage imported from all over the world. And being right on the beach is one of the most relaxing things I've ever known with all the stresses of school. The people are nice, the students are diverse, and there's always an opportunity to do something fun!
Am learning a lot I have never had so many opportunities to learn so much! The Professors are very open to discussion during office hours, and more than willing to help you if you need it, in almost every class there is also a supplemental instructor that holds smaller discussion classes to help clear up any problems, and there is a whole building dedicated to tutoring (The CASA, Center for Academic Student Achievement). If you don't feel you're learning it quite right, there's always somebody to help you. You don't even have to ask.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students one of the most important tips a prospective student should know is having a great resume for any university or job you apply to. the more resume's you have by others, the more your image will positively impact you.
Bang for the buck In comparison to the other universities i have researched, i had come to a conclusion that i would recieve many benefits for a low price at tamucc (after applying to as many scholarships as i can), it is worth attending the university of corpus christi especially because the major i am planning on pursuing is a specialty the university offers. The appartment complexes for this university is amazing with such a low price a month that comes with basic needs such as a tv, washer, drier, and stove. The student life seems amazing, because the corridors is co- ed, which means you would make many male and female friends instead of just one gender in living on campus
Will enjoy being here after visiting the campus of tamucc, not only the view of the bay is beautiful, but the buildings and recreational center is amazing. Their clubs, majors, and student/ teacher ratios caught my eye. this campus had proved to me that i will enjoy attending my four years of college there like no other university i have visited in texas and the state of louisiana. it is not too far from, which is a plus for me. Corpus is the perfect fit for me
Will learn a lot i am a very attentive person when it comes to academics. without education, there is no success in the life you will live as an adult. I'm not only an over achiever in my academic history, i am also very commited to the sports i play in such as basketball, softball, soccer, and track, community service, and other extracurricular activities.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students All types of students will fit well into this university. There is not one group who dominates as the university is just like America, a true melting pot ; A lot of variety.
Tips for prospective students When applying: *Have a GPA of 2.75+ *Do okay on your SAT/ ACT When in the university: *Try to maintain a 3.0 *Participate in student organizations *Volunteer to help others *After exams, don't hesitate to go out and relax a bit.
Bang for the buck The price is not that bad of a factor but what you need to know is that this university provides an average education but priced real well. Parking permits within this university range from $60-80 for an entire year, and you are able to purchase a parking permit for individual semesters. The university is gradually increasing tuition because of the budget cuts that are occurring in education throughout the state of Texas.
Am enjoying being here If you find some student organizations that you like, join them, and your university experience is greatly enhanced. The environment is good and you can always find something to do whether on campus or in the city of Corpus Christi.
Am learning a lot Most of the professors are very knowledgeable in what they teach while others are somewhat new to the teaching scene. You will receive an average education that is well priced.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students There Is A Great Nursing Program Here One Of The Best. Also Anything Dealing With Marine Sciences. I Am Currently A Political Science Major & The This Program Isn't That Bad, All Of The Teachers In The College of Liberal Arts Are Passionate About Teaching What They Do.
Tips for prospective students Not Much Going On Here Just Volleyball & Basketball (Though There Is Golf, Softball, Baseball, But NO Football) In Classes Just Follow The Syllabus Each Teacher Gives You, It Will Surely Come In Handy! Make Sure To Check It Ahead Of Time For Future Assignments & Deadlines. Most Classes Have Online Assignments So Have A Computer If Not You Can Do It In The Library Or Various Computer Labs Around Campus. When It Comes To Books RENT Them! I Would Say Take A Triad Even Though You May Not Want To The Seminar Classes Are Only 1 Credit Hour But Come In Handy Helping Out With Your Classes Connected To It & Making Friends.
Bang for the buck It Could Be Better, But I Would Have To Say This School Is Cheap Compared To Most Universities & The Education You Get Will Surely Be The Same (If Not Better) As Other Universities Too.
Am enjoying being here I Love It Here! Campus Is Beautiful And There Are 30+ Cats All Around Campus, People Are Nothing But Nice And Helpful Here.
Am learning a lot Learning A Ton! Just Read Read Read!!! Classes Don't Get Too Big And There Are Plenty Of Helpful Resources Here To Help You Out If You're Struggling.

Food and Dining I work at the dining services its awsome because you get free meals and the bosses always allow flexiabilty with student schudules.Theres a subway, starbucks,a deli, a burrito place and the commons market.
Dorm Life Its convient but overly expensive would rather live off campus but even if you don't have a car the bus system here is awsome.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus has security and is very safe!
What to do for fun Corpus Christi has two main malls and several movie theaters you can go to for fun. Also, on campus, there's a gym where you can also go to not only work out but enjoy yourself.
Food and Dining The food is pretty good (although a little expensive in my opinion). They've made sure to provide all sorts of types of food for all tastes - from oriental, to Chick Fil A, to pizza, to sushi, etc.
Dorm Life Living in dorms helps you meet people and make friends.
Academic Rigor Depending on what your major is and what classes you take, the classes are not that bad. Most professors are willing to help you outside of class so if you need help, don't hesitate to shoot them an e-mail or ask for help!
Tips for prospective students If you're unsure about anything, be sure to talk to your advisor. And don't be worried if you're unsure about what major to go into; once you start taking the core curriculum classes, you'll get an idea of where your interests lie and you can work from there. Also, if like me you have two interests and can't pick between the two, you can always major in both or major in one and minor in the other. Good luck!
In three sentences The campus is a beautiful place to walk around in. The classes are not too difficult and the staff is helpful. Overall, it's a great place to go to school to further your education.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is filled with many students, security personnel, and many emergency phones. However the campus can be a bit intimidating when nighttime comes around.
Clubs and Activities Clubs and activities range from fencing, theater, and sports to art associations and cultural gatherings.
Great for these types of students Good for medical students, however if you are an art major there are only so many art classes to take.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The campus art department is always hosting some sort of interesting event. A most recent event would be the Oso Bay Parade in which a giant viking ship was carried to the beach and burned in a magnificent ceremony.
Bang for the buck It is disappointing that the quality of some of the teachers is rather low. Parking is also a very disappointing and infuriating element considering the limited space on the island. Some students with cars could take up to half an hour simply looking for parking.
What to do for fun The campus is located on an island on it's own with a small beach, but the city also has many other beaches to have fun at. The college constantly has events going on and there are many different clubs, athletic teams, and associations to join.
Food and Dining There are multiple places to eat on campus from subway to the small food stands dotting the campus. You can either walk to the university center for good food or buy something small to snack on between classes at the food stands in the various buildings.
Dorm Life I did not participate in dorm life and cannot therefore rate the dorms.
Academic Rigor So far classes are not too rigorous. Some classes may be difficult but for the most part freshman year focuses on your introduction to college life.
Tips for prospective students Freshman year will be rather frustrating as many of the instructors are student teachers, but there is also freshman seminar to help you find people with your tastes and interests who can help you study as the year goes on.
In three sentences A great school for those interested in a medical profession. A good school for those interested in marine biology. A very relaxing atmosphere with plenty of places to get work done.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus safety is defiantly a great thing. you constantly see campus police on there bikes making sure that no harm comes to students, professors, visitors, and campus workers.
Greek Life Participate in greek life if it interests you, i know of a lot of sorties and fraternities that are great ways of learning leadership skills and making life long friendships.
Clubs and Activities There are a lot of fun activities and week long celebrations that are taking place at this university.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus On campus there is a trail that goes around it with canopies and sitting areas. taking a nice run on the trail or watching the sunset with friends.
What to do for fun The beach is near by and free to use. Spending the day with friends enjoying the beauties of corpus christi.
Food and Dining You learn to cook for yourself in college.
Dorm Life I prefer to live off campus.
Academic Rigor The campus proves free tutoring for its students in every subject.
Tips for prospective students Studying with friends or classmates os extremely important, take advantage of the studying opportunities it provides for you.

Categories Comments Food and Dining I've heard many different things when it comes to the topic on dining. I was told this school does not have a meal plan and I was also told it does. I'm unsure about this so don't take what I say here as a definitive fact.
Academic Rigor I don't have a basis for this rating because I'm not in attendance for this university, but based on what I've heard from others it seems to be a rather decent place to learn.
In three sentences Although I haven't made my way to visit the campus I already like what I see. Based on the conversations I've had with the faculty on the phone the people seem really helpful and are always willing to give assistance. I'm pretty much on my own when it comes to college but the admission process was extremely easy and any difficulties were solved with a quick phone call. I recommend this college to anyone wanting to meet good people.

Categories Comments What to do for fun The first thing that is obvious are the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico. There some of the nicest and most vacant beaches in Corpus, which means that they are clean and very peaceful. On campus, there are many clubs and sororities/fraternities you can join to be involved everything from an Anime club to Sigma Gamma Gamma. There are trips and mission trips that happen almost every week and lot's of people to meet and greet. Now, if you are of age, there are many clubs (gay and bi friendly), bars, and thrift stores that hold local band shows and festivals. In downtown there are also Art walks that the city holds where the stores and shops sale art and local vendors sale their merchandise. There is also the Aquarium and Science Museum and so many other historical buildings. There is always something to do
Food and Dining The food and dining at our school is ok. We do have a variety and healthy foods. Although I do wish they had more to offer sometimes.
Dorm Life The dorms are in the Island and the school is not that big, so walking distance is absolutely awesome! You left something behind in the dorm? No worries, the dorms are in walking distance from anywhere in the school. The school keeps adding buildings and new things to itself, but all of their facilities are very nice and clean, ALWAYS. The dorms are newly built and so are the parking lots. Everyone plus guests are guaranteed a spot at all times of the day or night. The dorms are suites where you only share a restroom and all bills are paid, the dorms also include a fridge and a microwave. The dorms are simply neat.
Academic Rigor All classes that I have taken and my peers have taken are worth attending. The professors are very helpful and understanding for your first year and afterwards!!! The harder classes have equally as interesting and helpful professor leading the class, they try their absolute hardest to teach and make their students learn in a productive way.
Tips for prospective students Apply as fast as you can, send all required documents as fast you can, and do not be timid to ask for help. I say this with extreme certainty because I was lucky enough to land a job in our Admissions and Records office and I learned how long the process is for a student to get admitted and how there isn't enough students asking for free help and guidance.
In three sentences Loving and Chill! Corpus Christi is a very slow paced place. The people are extremely nice and the professors are very supportive, the tutoring and extra help is very noted. The scenery is very nice(especially because the school is on an Island, Ward Island) and the beaches are crispy clean and safe.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Go to the beach. Not much of a night life. You're pretty close to rural Texas so it's the perfect place to learn to fish and hunt.
Food and Dining Dining on campus is pretty limited to a fast food type menu similar to what you would find in a food court. Expect to go off campus to look for food as this will be cheaper and slightly more nutritious or learn to cook. There is no meal plan.
Dorm Life Dorms are not the greatest for the price. Expect rent to go up every year. Look into off campus housing.
Academic Rigor As with any school, how rigorous a class is varies from professor to professor. Try to find people who have taken the course previously before attempting any course you are unfamiliar with to get a general feel for it. Start study groups early.
Tips for prospective students Despite being close to the beach, this is not a part school. Don't slack off on the studying. Be prepared.
In three sentences TAMUCC has an attractive campus. It's science courses can be pretty rigorous. Faculty, staff, and students tend to be nice and helpful.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is really big on safety, if something happens they send you an email telling you about the incident and what to watch out for and why to be careful and how to stay safe.
Greek Life There are many different houses to choose from and if you're like me you look at the movies and see the Greek Life System where they are just fully of stuck up preppy people that are just kind of there, and that's how you think they really are in really life colleges. But here, they are really easy to get into, and everyone is so friendly. Also every house does something different, some do charity work for cancer and others for diabetes, they serve a real purpose.
Clubs and Activities There are so many, anything from Debate to Scuba Diving.
Great for these types of students Outdoors, surfers, athletic, small town, nature feeling students. And also skaters, over half the campus goes around on either rollerblades, bikes, or longboards/skateboards.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Cats! This campus believes that we should take care of and be friendly to the wildlife, so basically all the time you will see cats and one very friendly squirrel that isn't afraid to come up to you(and take food out of your hand).
Bang for the buck On-The-Go lunches, very reasonable prices!
What to do for fun There is a Starbucks, Subway, Barnes and Noble, and Gym, with are all fun places to hang-out at in between classes. But outside of school, basketball games are the place to be!
Tips for prospective students Keep up with your work and study. It depends on your teacher of course how hard the courses are but just work at it and have fun and it will be a great experience. Also go to the gym there, it's really great and i think you will really like it. And participate in extracurricular activities, there is always something going on, like basketball for example, it's all year from august to march, it's like other schools football team, lots get involved in that!
In three sentences It has a lot of things to do on the campus, such as the Starbucks, Barnes and Noble, and gym. The campus has a great view of the ocean and the campus itself look like an island, so it's very beautiful, it looks very tropical. And the teachers are great and are very helpful when it comes to needing the extra help, they care about the students, and are very ok with one on one learning.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus has many Police officers that patrol the area twenty-four-seven. Poles with blue lights are also located around the school that can be seen eye distant one to another. They are for emergencys and to make the on campus Police aware of situations that may need further assistance from others. They also help light the campus and if you are ever up working late in the library you can have a officer escort you to your apartment for safety! In addition to all that, your on a island and no one comes onto the island without a student ID or permission.
Great for these types of students Texas A&M in Corpus Christi is great for students who need extra help outside of classes, learn better in smaller groups, and need hands-on learning. The college has many programs on the campus that are hands-on. They have their own navy and marine biology programs that work and are based on the island and its waters.
What to do for fun Take advantage of that beach as your backyard! There is so much that can be done in the water and in the sand. I plan to learn a new sport and attempt surfing. Your activities on the beach can range from volley ball to bonfires, and surfing to fishing. Fun in the Sun, sand, and water!
Food and Dining From what I noticed on my tour the good seems like they have a okay food variety. Being it isn't a huge campus you don't need as many food stops as you would. Aside from that they have the basics that all teenagers go to and love!
Dorm Life When I toured I found out there is not actual dorms. They are apartments because you don't share a bathroom with every one on your floor. The apartments are very spacious and there is privacy. The walking distance to the college is remarkably close! Not only is the college close but the beach is close too! The views from the apartment are nothing but beach. Being a city girl, it's nice to get a view of a blue ocean and smell the sea breeze from your windows.
In three sentences Not only is the college on the beach, but the campus is a good size to get to know your fellow students and professors. The campus has to be two thumbs up for me. Not only do they offer many different learning tools and programs, but there are many clubs and organizations to get into and network with new people.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck Its one of the cheapest universities in the state of Texas, and it doesn't matter where you go for your first two years your gonna learn the same thing. Although this college has an exceptional marine bio. program that will interesting for any student furthering there future in marine bio
What to do for fun There aren't to may distractions around the university but there are always something going on whether it be the clubs or a school rally. Its nice though to be in a very warming environment when wanting to study everyone knows how to have fun but when it comes for business...its business.
Food and Dining If you get on a meal plan you will die on the weekends. Just buy food at your local H-E-B or wal-mart...invest in a mini fridge
Tips for prospective students Study, study, study.....don't waste your time
In three sentences Well constructed in aiding the needs of the students to ensure that its just not weeding out, its students. The university is small enough to get the one on one with professor but also big enough to challenge yourself with the other students. A recommended college for first taking your adventure into college life.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Again, the campus is small and everyone is generally friendly. Really there isn't anything to worry about on-campus as there are campus security who definitely keep order and keep an eye out for things.
Greek Life I do not plan to be a part of the Greek Life, but my brother is part of Kappa Sigma, and he says that it's great. He was able to find something that suit him.
Clubs and Activities At orientation, we went to the gym and there were many presentations on different clubs. The different options were overwhelming and every presenter did a good job on convincing people to join their clubs.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus My brother, who will now be a sophomore, told me of the Humans vs. Zombies game that is for the entire university and is a week-long event. It is something I find unique and exciting.
Bang for the buck Texas A&M Corpus Christi is definitely an affordable school, and for the quality of education is definitely worth it and reasonable. Not to mention the many financial aid opportunities offered by the school and offered by many people around the web.
What to do for fun The most amazing thing about the campus is the school spirit and unity of the school There are so many activities and things to do with the school as well as off campus. There are a lot of shopping centers and fine restaurants around, not to mention the beach!
Food and Dining As Texas A&M Corpus Christi isn't an extremely large campus, there isn't much selection. The cafeteria food is good, and they recently added a Subway in the middle of campus which is convenient for us who will have to pick up a bite to eat from class to class.
Dorm Life I am not able to review the dorm life, as I have not seen the dorms, nor will I be living in the dorms.
Academic Rigor All of the professors are ready to challenge all of us and are definitely going to be treating us as adults. I've already been receiving emails from my new professors, providing to me the syllabus and required reading materials for next year.
Tips for prospective students If you're a student looking to enter the college of nursing at Texas A&M Corpus Christi, this school is definitely the one for you because one thing this campus can confidently say is that they have a 100% passing rate for all nursing students. There is a lot of help available on campus, but you have to be willing to seek it out. If you feel like you're about to start slipping in your grades, there's the C.A.S.A. in the student center.
In three sentences I absolutely love the campus and the atmosphere because everything is so relaxing and friendly. All of the staff are 100% dedicated to pushing their students to graduate at the appropriate year and there are so many opportunities to keep grades up and seek help if necessary. I feel absolutely confident that this school will push me to do my best.

Dorm Life I live off campus, and so could not give a great idea on that.

Clubs and Activities TAMU-CC has over 100 activities and clubs for students to get involved in something so being bored shouldn't be a problem.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I was showed our campus dance for games and stuff and it was a little awkward but it was really fun because I wasn't the only one.
What to do for fun There are many different activities offered by tamucc that i was told and showed so its just a matter of putting yourself out there and finding what you want to do.
Food and Dining TAMU-CC has many restaurants around the school and they also have meal plans so either way you go the food is awesome. I think the only issue that the students would have is seats for lunch.
Academic Rigor I talked to many professors and feel pretty confident that i will succeed with the teaching skills.
Tips for prospective students I haven't started there yet but my advice is to go to both days of orientation. And if your a junior in high school to start signing up and doing scholarships because the is a lot that you can receive if you start early.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is very open and beautiful. There are campus police always roaming around. The biggest safety concern I have is student drivers.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I haven't been here long, but there are campus cats around every corner. They are friendly and mind their own business. An organization was created to spay and neuter all of the cats (there used to be a lot more than there are now).
What to do for fun There is always a lot of things happening on campus, but there are many things to do off campus too. TAMU-CC has their own beach, and the public beach is about ten minutes away from the school. The mall, movies, and many other restaurants are also within ten minutes of TAMU-CC.
Food and Dining Anything is better compared to the high school cafeteria! There are a few restaurant chains on campus, including Subway, Chick-fil-a, and Starbucks. The other food served in the commons (including sushi) is also very good and reasonably priced.
Dorm Life I am not living on campus. Cappex said the rating was required, so I put one star because I can't give any input about this topic.
Academic Rigor It really depends what classes you take, and what you are good at. However, all of the teachers are willing to help you understand the material as long as you ask for help.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you get a campus tour! It really helps get an idea of how big/small the campus is, and helps you know where everything is located.

Greek Life I went greek and absolutely love it. I honestly was thinking of not doing it, but they are very involved not only on campus, but in the community as well. Many of the Greek organizations do put a huge priority on grades so to me that was a huge plus. They do help other greek organizations as well and get more involved on campus.
Clubs and Activities There are TONS of clubs on campus to get involved. Also, most of the clubs and organizations work together on things.
Great for these types of students This campus is very diverse which personally I love. You get to know tons of new people and views on life.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I haven't been here for long so I haven't got to experience many of the traditions, like the lighting of the I, which I have heard is really neat to watch.
What to do for fun There are tons of stuff to do for fun! The campus overlooks the beach; That should explain everything! Also, there are tons of museums around town and the USSR ship that you can take tours on. The mall is extremely close to campus and that is every girls dream!
Food and Dining Food on campus is delicious!! Even off campus there is plenty of things to go eat and are all really close! The only down part to on campus eating is the healthier the food the more expensive it is.
Dorm Life Dorms and apartments do come in handy at times. You can walk everywhere and no need to waste money on gas. The only thing I can say that sucks about it is that they maintenance people are really slow to fix problems. Also there is a slight bug problem, but I haven't had any major issues.
Academic Rigor They really do stress the importance of academics here, but in a good way. Professors are always there to help. Also, things like CASA are an extreme help when you just can't understand a subject.
Tips for prospective students Study!! Make sure you stay on top of what is going on in each class and when things are due. Also, get involved. It actually helps with your studies and you will always have a study buddy!
In three sentences I absolutely love this campus. It is very small and the professors really do want to help you succeed. I love how small and personable the classes are for the most part.

Categories Comments Campus Safety If you live on campus, you'll have to do a lot of street-crossing. The kids try to show off and look cool by going well over 20 mph (the speed limit), so have fun crossing those streets. They don't take too kindly to you if you try to walk in front of them while they're doing their thing. Occasionally, campus police officers will pull kids over, though. Those are rare occasions, but they are fantastic moments.
Greek Life Well, there's tons of Greek Life, that's for certain. Not too sure if they really understand the meaning of sororities/fraternities here, though. It sure is different than the sororities/fraternities I'm familiar with back in my hometown of Austin.
Great for these types of students Students who love to party, are from small towns, can't get into Texas A&M University, and are not willing to commit to attempting to get a good education.
What to do for fun You can go to the beach. That's about it.
Food and Dining Good but irrationally pricey, inconveniently located around campus and far away from the on-campus housing, and do not stay open late. Closed on weekends.
Dorm Life Boring.
Academic Rigor Comparable to that which I had received at Austin Community College.
Tips for prospective students Really think about why you want to go here. If you're from a big city full of diversity, really think about it! Do you just want to go here because you slacked off in high school and know most colleges won't accept you? Stay there and go to community college, then transfer to a bigger university elsewhere once you get that GPA up. If you value your education over partying, it will be well worth it. A&M Corpus is not for everyone. It certainly isn't for me.
In three sentences There is barely any diversity here. Most students are from the area or surrounding small towns. The education is comparable to a community college education at the undergraduate level.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus police is always around, making sure you are safe. Well lit at night.
Clubs and Activities Many clubs to participate in, and many opportunities to meet people.
What to do for fun Some things to do for fun would be to walk to the beach and swim or a great place to study.
Food and Dining Food on campus is nice. There are many known restaurants on campus. They are conveniently located, although the prices are marked up some.
Dorm Life Dorms on campus are convenient and up to date. You feel really connected with everyone on campus, because there are many opportunities and activities to participate in at the dorms to meet new people.
Academic Rigor The academic rigor is not hard at all. Easy to complete assignments and tasks. Just pay attention and follow along with the professors, and complete each assignment given.
Tips for prospective students Some tips for prospective students would be to, attend each class, and take etiquette notes. If you have any kind of questions or misunderstandings talk to the professors or teachers assistants, don't be afraid to ask, they are their to help you.
In three sentences Texas A&M University Corpus Christi is a beautiful campus, filled with friendly people. Many of the professors here are very helpful and help you succeed in furthering your education.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The police are always patrolling. It's a really safe place to be.
Greek Life There's several fraternities and sororities on campus that all get along and are very welcoming.
Clubs and Activities Over 100 organizations on campus. Stuff for everyone - Student Government Association, Sea Turtle Club, Harry Potter Club and LOADS more :)
Great for these types of students People who love to relax and have fun! The school is great for academics who want to succeed and it's fantastic for those who never thought they could ever do well - the school stimulates them to do their best.
Bang for the buck A little pricey, but the courses are well worth it.
What to do for fun On campus, not a lot. There's events every week and stuff, but that's about it. Corpus offers a lot though! Beaches, movies, clubs, parks, boats, the waterpark, concerts and sports games are all really common and popular.
Food and Dining There's a lot of options, but they ALL get tiring after a while. There's a lot of grease and fatty foods and very high prices.
Dorm Life The dorms are very nice, but they're also expensive. The spacious ones are more worth the money than the small dorms, but off campus housing is still a better bet. But there is the convenience factor because the campus is so small. And there is always events happening with Camden for the residents. The maintenance people are very friendly too, and willing to do what they can to help.
Academic Rigor The professors can be harsh but they work you for a reason. They do what they can to help you succeed - they want the best for all of us. The core courses can be intense and depending on your major, those classes could be even more intense. But it makes it all the more worthwhile.
Tips for prospective students Know where the best beaches are and know what you love to do most. Don't be afraid to choose something that others may not like - this is YOUR education and YOU deserve to be happy and to pay money for what YOU love to do.
In three sentences It's a great school that is full of opportunity, however the professors can sometimes be less than desirable. Even so, the programs here are amazing and very worth the money and time spent towards a degree.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Our campus police are extremely fast, but if you get in trouble on campus in the open public, you can't always rely on the people on campus to call the police.
Greek Life Our Greek life is very small. We only have 5 sororities I believe.
Great for these types of students If you love the beach this is the place to be.
What to do for fun Go to the Surf Club Executive and try their amazing nachos down Ocean Drive. The live music is great and you can sit down and talk to anyone there. Oh! And on the first Friday of the month there is an art walk.
Food and Dining You absolutely need to try the chick-fil-a on campus! It rocks and is always really fast if your in a rush to class.
Dorm Life Don't live at Camden. The staff isn't friendly and every thing you can think of that could go wrong while living on campus happens here. You have bugs, rodents, pipes hardly ever work, the power is always off and the internet is hardly ever on.
Academic Rigor It's definitely a different college experience.
Tips for prospective students This is a really great place to get your basics done at.
In three sentences Really relaxing, nice people and a great atmosphere to study at by the beach. The teachers are all really easy to work with, but the students are very social.

Food and Dining The food options include a variety of little shops spread out in each building and there is a range of fast food restaurants in the cafeteria with great food.
Dorm Life The dorm life is fantastic because you can simply walk to class a few minutes before it starts.
Academic Rigor All of the professors that I have had were extremely nice and very enthusiastic. They truly want to have a personal relationship with their students even if it is a class of 100 students.
Tips for prospective students Try to apply for the financial aid and scholarships early because it was difficult to receive help from the advisers here.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is a police facility right on campus and gates to enter the school. I feel very safe on campus and walk to and from the library late in the evening.
Clubs and Activities I spoke of this before but loads and loads of clubs and activities. A great gym with classes.
Great for these types of students Great for all types of students. Especially if you are majoring in the Arts, Sports and Nursing. We have one of the best Nursing programs around.
Bang for the buck Everything that TAMUCC has to offer and the tutition that I am paying I am definately getting more bang for the buck. I decided to attend here at the last minute and I have no regrets!!!!
What to do for fun There is never a shortage of activities going on at TAMUCC. From the arts, to sports to different groups. Many and many of groups I'm involved with the Harry Potter Group, sorry couldn't grow out of this one. But there are loads and loads to do and you can always just walk right to the beach. Corpus Christi stays a great temperature all year round.
Food and Dining This is easy!! There are so many choices of food and dining right here on campus I rarely order for delivery or go into town. Most importantly we have a STARBUCKS!!! 5 out of 5!!
Dorm Life I am a sophomore and I have lived on campus last year and now this year. I enjoy the convenience of just walking to my classes and interacting with other students. TAMUCC have no shortage of dorm rooms and the grounds are kept clean.
Academic Rigor My professors are tough, but fair and friendly. Homework, assignments, and tests are what I expected to be for college. Having great professors help a great deal even when they are dishing out a heavy load of work.
Tips for prospective students Always do your research on any school you apply to. Try to find an alumni of the school or a current student and ask them questions. Tour the school and do all your paperwork as soon as possible. The early bird gets it's worm should be your motto!!
In three sentences TAMUCC is a hidden treasure in Universities. We have one of the best nursing programs with state of the art equipment and we have the best professors. A campus that faces the beautiful beach of Corpus Christi who could ask for anything more!!!

Categories Comments What to do for fun There are very many things that the campus does that are usually pretty fun to go too.
Food and Dining The food is really good, and there are so many choices to what you can eat.
Dorm Life Living in the apartments is really nice, and you get the freedom of living on your own, and have the responsibility of paying for own rent. Other then that it is really nice.
Academic Rigor Academic Rigor is tough you will have a lot of homework, and essay's but when you ask for help you will most likely be given help.
Tips for prospective students Prospective students should start getting good study habits, and be prepared to have a lot of homework.
In three sentences TAMUCC is an amazing college, and i love it here. Every professor is very understanding, and helpful.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus police are always around the campus, and if you are one of those people who thinks their campus will be invade by some foreign military, don't worry, there is a naval air station literally withing throwing distance of the campus.
What to do for fun Oso Bay is located on three sides of the campus with Corpus Christi Bay on the fourth, so swimming, wind surfing, and fishing are quite popular. The Dougan Wellness Center is available for any student who wants to work out or play sports. There is a plethora of clubs on campus that can keep you entertained.
Food and Dining There isn't a formal dining hall on campus, but there is a central market area with a few restaurants in it and a Subway and Starbucks in the middle of the campus.
Dorm Life I live in the apartments on campus and they are good for the typical college student. My only complaints are the wild cats that the university keeps live behind the apartments and there are some rowdy residents that can ruin a peaceful morning watching the sun rise over the bay.
Academic Rigor Most classes are average in difficulty, but there are a few that will challenge you, especially in triads where grades can be shared between classes and a poor grade in either can drag the others' down.
Tips for prospective students Research the requirements for each major before applying to it's college. If you plan on going majoring in engineering, you need to already have calculus I before you can take physics, so be prepared.
In three sentences The campus is beautiful and has it's own beach. It is a smaller campus and it is very easy to get to your classes. The classes can be challenging, as with any college, but there are a wide variety of student resources to aid you.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck Texas A&M is perfect! It is close to home for me and my finical aide literally covers everything. Compared to other colleges it is very cheap.
What to do for fun We have a nice gym, and they have basketball courts and ping-pong tables. You can also join groups and just meet new people. Also we have alot of events on campus.
Food and Dining We got subway on campus and starbucks, thats all i need!
Dorm Life Never lived in dorms, only been to my friends dorm and they are pretty nice.
Academic Rigor Our Academic advisior's are not really involved.
Tips for prospective students Don't live in any dorms, they are too expensive! It's cheaper to find a friend and share rent at another apartment.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are police that can walk you home late at night. This is optional of course, but it is a good option if you feel nervous.
What to do for fun There are clubs to go to off campus, the beach, and the art walk once a month downtown. These are the options that i have chosen to explore for entertainment.
Food and Dining The dining options here are limited. The only fast food places on campus are Starbucks and Subway. There are also meal plans, but the food is bland. I don't have the meal plan since it is too expensive. I chose to cook my own meals in order to save money.
Dorm Life If you want to live in a cheap dorm, choose Surf and Jetty. You must apply several months early though in order to find a room.
Academic Rigor This university was easier than I expected. Half of my classes give reviews for their tests and the other classes give open book exams. This is only for this semester though and I'm considered a sophmore here.
Tips for prospective students You need to be prepared to write essays within a timed frame for classes. Also, try and create a budget for food ahead of time to save money for entertainment.
In three sentences This university has plenty of amiable students here who are willing to engage in the classes. The instructors are also willing to assist students who are struggling with the course material. The best part is the small area of the university which makes it easy to walk to classes.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students looking for a relaxed atmoshpere.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The entire campus is on its own island, so its got great scenery. It can have a problem when there are hurricanes, but the university is very proactive and it makes sure that no one ever gets stuck on the island. The road leading up the the college is dangerous with lots of traffic accidents, so please be careful traveling. Parking is a problem, leave plenty of time for finding a space.
What to do for fun Hang out, student services activities, go into town, theater
Food and Dining Most people are satisfied with the food, but personally I think they could do much better. It is also pretty expensive, though you tend to get a lot for your money.
Dorm Life I don't live in the dorm, but they are supposed to be very nice.
Academic Rigor I depends on what major or department you enter, the nursing, aquatic sciences, and business schools are great, but the other departments are about average.
Tips for prospective students Pick your degree early if you know what to do, it makes it easier. Be proactive and join some type of organization, there are many at TAMUCC. The atmosphere is relaxed so just chill and have fun.
In three sentences The business school is very good, it is also accredited which is great. The classes are challenging, but they are passable and informative. The campus is also a great place, very beautiful and well taken care of with a great view of the bay.

Categories Comments Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus None that i am aware of
Bang for the buck Its expensive, it works at around $1,000 per hour. Yes, per hour, a normal class is about 3 hours. You do the math.
What to do for fun BEACH BEACH BEACH!
Food and Dining Pretty good food all around, not many dining halls, just one major one. Really good food though.
Dorm Life Not much to choose from, only two dorms available on campus and they are normally overrun by freshman. Your best bet is too stay off campus, there are a lot of apartments that are considered off-campus but they are walking distance to the school
Academic Rigor I personally believe, there should be no school that is easier and harder, some may be more writing intensive than others, but with that said as long as you do your work and not wait until the last minute you will be fine.
Tips for prospective students If you want to graduate with an A&M label on your degree, but you don't want to move to the middle of nowhere A&M College Station, then this school is really good. Situated on the coast it is just as good as any other 4 year school.
In three sentences Texas A&M is relativly a small school. Not very much activity life on campus. The school has great teachers, great programs, and its on the beach.

Categories Comments What to do for fun The dugan wellness center has everything a person can think of when it comes to exercising. Group fitness classes and an outdoor pool keeps me fit and entertained between classes. If I have an exam, I can slip into the library right across from the subway and cram, then grab some brain food. Basketball games are usually pack and tons of fun.
Food and Dining There is sushi. Very fresh and very tasty. The food is healthy and there is a wide variety for students to choose from. There is also a subway and a starbucks on campus if students need their $5 footlong / caffeine fix!
Dorm Life I live off campus. I have not experienced the dorms nor can I elaborate on anything I have heard as it would be a fallacy to the network of students who actually live on campus.
Academic Rigor Course work is rigorous and demanding of a lot of your free time. Be prepared to stay in on Friday and Saturday nights but know it is for a goal you will surely find that is well worth the sacrifice. Professors allow students to find their own study habits and pathways; they generally do not give a lot of direction on how much time you should spend studying for an exam. These professors are extremely tuned in to how the professional world works, in that deadlines should be met without question or reminder.
Tips for prospective students Be organized and take full advantage of any and all study groups and tutorials given in every course taken. Attend all classes as though it is your job and are being paid for each hour you are present. Perfection is not expected but rather the strive for perfection is demanded by professors here.
In three sentences Experienced and knowledgeable staff. Unique and plentiful opportunities for students to be successful in their educational endeavors. By far one of the best geographic information sciences programs in the country.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus police are almost always patrolling. Considering the school is on its own island adds to the security feature. Only two ways in and out.
Clubs and Activities There's a club for almost anything.
Great for these types of students Great for people who love the beach, and a relaxed atmosphere that's not packed with people all over. The landscaping and atmosphere on campus is also very relaxing, making it easy to always find a good quiet spot to work or study. However if you're more of a socialite, the fellow students on campus are all actually pretty friendly!
Bang for the buck Given it's a university in the A & M system, I can understand the costs associated with it, but as far as the fine arts department is concerned, the budget isn't nearly great enough. Arts take a lot of materials and equipment, which we pay for in our tuition. Sometimes we can be delayed on projects, or not even be able to start a cool one at all because the art department lacks furnishings in a particular tool, supply, or material.
What to do for fun There's always a good game going throughout the year on any given week. The campus also hosts a lot of guest speakers, fairs, concerts and plays, and not to mention, they build a beach for the campus so you can actually have some ultimate Frisbee on the sand, and if you want the real gulf of mexico, it's only 15 minutes away!!
Food and Dining Great selection, restraunts and snack stands are distributed evenly throughout campus, vending machines in every building!! The campus could use an affordable sit-down style food joint.
Dorm Life Never stayed in dorms before
Academic Rigor The teachers challenge each student individually. With the arts in particular, each student is at a different stage and advancement in their skills. Even though everyone isn't at the same point in skill, the teachers adapt and tailor assignments to not only challenge everyone individually, but nurture their own creative intuition and involvement.
Tips for prospective students If you love beach living and atmosphere, A&M CC is the right place to be. You can study almost anything here, and the teachers are dedicated to their students
In three sentences Absolutely BEAUTIFUL campus. No overwhelming class sizes, but abundant diversity. The fine arts department is in need of more teachers...

Categories Comments Bang for the buck TAMUCC is one of the lowest ranked in tuition cost out of the other Texas A&M schools. I feel as if I've gotten more than I paid for.
What to do for fun TAMUCC is situated on an island and has two beaches within walking distance. It literally takes minutes to be in the sand and such. If beaches aren't your thing though, there are live music shows and campus events that happen quite often.
Food and Dining Oh the options! There are so many restaurants like Chik-fil-a and Starbucks on campus. The prices are great and so is the variety.
Dorm Life The dorms are fun to live in. I live in a residence hall suite and I've made so many friends and have had so much fun. The only thing I would complain about is the issue of overflow, so apply for housing early!
Academic Rigor You definitely have to apply yourself to your classes, but depending upon your major the workload can vary. There are several tutoring groups here to help though and a library with the aroma of the Subway next door.
Tips for prospective students Getting around campus is fairly easy on foot. I would just say pay attention during orientation as you will be encountering the whole oh no I'm lost! problem if you don't. However if you do get lost the kids here are nice enough to point you the right way.
In three sentences This university is an awesome environment for learning and growing as a student. I really do love attending this college. The only thing I would have to say against it is that it doesn't have extensive degree plans offered.

Categories Comments What to do for fun A favorite past time for students would probably be going out and relaxing or studying at the beach. Students always have events happening at campus for people to get involved on. Work out, have a coffee or some lunch, play some intramural sports, get to know people.
Food and Dining There are various food choices to choose from so you're not limited to just a line or type of food. Whether it be comfort food or fast food, it's there and at your convenience. There are also daily deals so you can get a bang for your buck!
Dorm Life Students are always in, out and around their dorms. There's never a dull moment in the dorms and students are friendly and fun. At leas experience the dorm life once in your life!
Academic Rigor Some classes can be challenging or feel like a breeze. Professors are always willing to help and there are always people available to help you, so don't feel discouraged. Though it may seem difficult at times, it'll be worth it in the end.
Tips for prospective students There are plenty of activities always occurring on and off campus so be involved and put yourself out there! Dont be shy, make friends and form study groups. Balance out your education and social life and always prioritize.
In three sentences Being able to receive an education by the waters is something that I will never forget. It's a very relaxing atmosphere to be in and there are many beautiful sceneries to look at. The Island University gives you a different experience and if that's what you're looking for, I recommend this university to you.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Very safe
Clubs and Activities There aren't very many clubs, but the ones they have are wonderful and very active.
Bang for the buck This is a GREAT school for a cost less than what you would expect.
What to do for fun Hang out with friends, since you are so close to the beach its a great place to have fun.
Food and Dining Better than I thought it would be, love the salad bar, and the early morning waffles.
Dorm Life I do not live in a dorm, but my friends are either very happy because of the convenience, or very upset because of the prices.
Academic Rigor hard, but helpfu;
Tips for prospective students Plan on working hard, the classes can be easy if you do your work and keep up with your class work.
In three sentences I love TAMUCC!!! I am an Animal Biology, and Psychology major. Both my advisers are informative and helpful and I enjoy all of my professors. The campus is the perfect size, I can easily walk from class to class, yet I do not feel crowded.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus safety is GREAT. we have on capus police and if you need to call them from the dorms, they are there really fast. You can call for anything, even if you just don't feel safe walking home. We also have emergency police poles placed everywhere on campus, so if anything happens your are always near help. And the police respond quickly.
Clubs and Activities we have NUMEROUS clubs and activities. You would never miss a meeting or a date. The clubs are always out in the walkways or in the UC passing out flyers and trying get you to joins
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus In the winter, the school is lit up with a bunch of school colored lights. Its amazingly beautiful. Another cool thing is we have our own little beach in the front of campus, and a bay behind us... we are literally on an island.
Bang for the buck I defiantly think that the amount we pay for classes is worth it. The amount for the housing is a bit expensive, but the apartments and dorms are fine. For transportation, most people have skateboards, or you can take the bus, which is free for students with their ID.
What to do for fun For fun, the school puts on a lot of fun activities that are free for students and are just for us to have fun and get stress free. The students also put on a lot of parties, but you have to be careful about those... you need to go to class still.
Food and Dining There is a good variety in school foods. You can go to the cafeteria and eat school foods, which aren't like the foods that you would normal find. If you don't like the idea school foods, we also have a Subway, Starbucks, and a Chick-fil-et.
Dorm Life I live in an on campus apartment. The place is roomy and not to personal. My roommate and I get along great and we have no problems sharing.
Academic Rigor Most of the class are easy enough that you can maintain yourself. If you are in a learning community, a lot of the things that you do or write will be in a group which make its easier. If your are having any trouble, you can talk to the TA's for help, they are going through, or already have, exactly what you are.
Tips for prospective students The first and foremost thing would be to go to class. everything you need to know will be covered in lecture or lab. Plus some professors grade on attendance, and that's a grade to easy to miss out on.
In three sentences I give it a A. this college is defiantly student oriented. All the professors and faculty are there to help you

Categories Comments Greek Life There are quite a few selections to go Greek if you are interested in joining a fraternity or sorority. If you would like to become a part of something greater than yourself and be with people who will help you be a better person and succeed then Greek life might be for you. Going Greek is a way of having a brother or sister that will lend you a helping hand anywhere you go.
What to do for fun There are many things to do around corpus, there's the mall, aquarium, really nice beaches close by. Also we have a lot of artist come and perform. Another thing are the different events that happen on capus during the year and are all free to students.
Food and Dining There is a lot of food selection, with one main dining hall and different places around campus to grab a bite to eat. Although after a while you might get tired of eating the same foods over and over again. Luckily there is plenty of selection to go around before and if that happens.
Dorm Life Live on campus at least for your first year to get used to the transition from high school to college. After that if you are able to move off of campus then that would be recommended. Pros to living on campus are that you are only a ten minute walk away from classes and can go home whenever you want to but the downside is that you are sometimes paying more than it may seem worth.
Academic Rigor youre not in high school anymore and the professors wont be babying you anymore. Either you get your work done on time or to bad so sad. Another thing, utilize the school academic resources, they will get you a better grade then doing things on your own.
Tips for prospective students Plan ahead of time what college you want to go to and enjoy things like orientation and freshman camp. Find out if what the school has to offer and make sure that it meets the needs for where you want to go in life. On a more important note, don't wait forever to apply to the college and to fill out important information (i.e. FAFSA).
In three sentences Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi is a great little-big school. The faculty is very passionate about teaching their students and are always willing to be of assistance to their students. There are many different tutoring programs available to students for each course of study.

Dorm Life I haven't been to the campus so i can not say. But what i've seen on the website makes it seem friendly and the scenery is beautiful.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Since TAMUCC is located near the ocean, many people do water activities. Many people like to kite surf, swim, and some enjoy studying while at the beach, since the ocean sounds are very relaxing.
Food and Dining The food here at TAMUCC is pretty good, they have Chick-fil A, Starbucks, subway, and other small cafe's here that are very cheap for students.
Dorm Life I don't currently live in a dorm, I live off campus in an apartment.
Academic Rigor I think the most difficult thing about college in general is learning how to be assertive and independent, because the teachers want you to be responsible and know when things are due. The classes here are challenging, however, the teachers are supportive yet stern and they want you to learn and interact in the classroom.
In three sentences TAMUCC is a great college that is growing, yet small enough where you can meet new people. This college has so many degrees that you can choose from. The teachers here at TAMUCC are excellent, they want their students to succeed and they guide their students to strive for the best.

Food and Dining They have plenty of options and having a starbucks on campus is a major plus!
Dorm Life I had none at this university
Academic Rigor The professors are not to bad, they do expect you to be as professional as you want to be in your field of choice. They encourage students to do all your work and use their time wisely.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Spend time with friends. Go to the beach. Not a whole lot.
Food and Dining Subway. Chic-fila, a few cafeteria venues, and that's about it. All other food and grocery are found off the island.
Dorm Life Not a whole lot on or around campus in terms of entertainment. The quality of the dorms varies but is generally much better the more you pay.
Academic Rigor The college maintains a fairly high standard when it comes to expectations of what you need to graduate. Depending on your major you may a really good time or a really tough time for your four years. Also to note: some of the engineering degrees aren't fully accredited yet but hopefully will in future.
Tips for prospective students Attend lectures. Study hard. Watch as you pass all your classes.
In three sentences Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi is a really great place to attend college. The campus is beautiful, the professors are dedicated, and there are plenty of resources you can use to pass all your classes. It may not be the most widely-known or prestigious college out there, but it's still an alright place to go.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus safety is very good. Sometimes having to use your sanddollar to get into campus after ten is a pain but in reality it is what is keeping us safe, so I don't mind it. I feel very safe in my apartment on campus.
Clubs and Activities The clubs and activities are very active on our campus. There is always something going on on the UC lawn or at Camden Miramar the company in charge of the apartments and dorms on campus.
Bang for the buck Probably the biggest bang for the buck that you can get one campus is the fact they have a lot of activities on campus with FREE food!
What to do for fun There is a lot to do for fun but since I am an athlete a lot of times I am either in class, studying, sleeping, or at practice so a lot of times sleeping is what is fun for me. One of the best perks about going to this university is that we are right by the beach and if you love the beach this is definitely the school for you!
Food and Dining The food and dining could use a little help but they are building a new dining hall for next year so I am sure that that will improve a lot next year. For the most part I really don't use the food and dining because I live in an apartment with a kitchen so I cook a lot of my food or buy food at the grocery store because it is a lot cheaper.
Dorm Life I live in the apartments on campus and I believe it is a great experience for a freshman to have because you will meet tons of new people and you are experiencing living on your own for the first time. They are pretty spacious and are really convenient because they are fully furnished and on campus.
Academic Rigor I believe the professors here are really good and have definitely taught me well and what I need to know. I do have to commend the English department here because they have done such a good job on getting us freshman prepared for our other classes and how to write a proper essay the way it needs to be written in college. Since in a lot of high schools we were taught completely different rules on writing that do not apply in college and in fact will you get you a bad grade on a college paper.
Tips for prospective students The biggest tip I have is take advantage of the fact that you are given like group tutors. They are extremely helpful and can be the difference of you passing a class and not passing one or getting an A and a B. Another big one is go to class. You are paying to be a student here or your parents are do not waste their money or yours by not going to class and getting a bad grade. If you go to class, pay attention, and study you will do great in your classes.
In three sentences This University is a really good one. They have a lot of people willing to help you make it through your college experience especially during your freshman year. They have great professors that are willing to help you learn the material better if you are willing to put the effort in. The sports and spirit at the school is great as well. There are so many opportunities for people to join in and get to know others. Camden Miramar also helps with giving opportunities to meet new people and have a wonderful college experience.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus is pretty safe. There are emergency phone stations set up all over campus so you can push a button or call for the university police. University police cycle and drive around campus to ensure safety.
What to do for fun The university holds many events which you can choose from. People are constantly posting fliers and chalking the sidewalks around the campus for student activities. They have a nice gym and even a pool!
Food and Dining This university has chic Fila, Subway, Starbucks, a burrito restaurant, and a student cafeteria. They also sell food and drinks in the bookstore. For a small school, they have decent selections.
Dorm Life I have never stayed in a dorm here so I do not know what it I like.
In three sentences On a scale on one to ten I would rate Texas A&M University a 9. This is because they have great staff and professors who care about your education and well being. Overall, great school with plenty of things to keep you busy.

Categories Comments Campus Safety As said being the environment here at TAMUCC is great, there is nothing to worry about it seems, you car is always in spot not for damage, especially being that the campus police department is just right the parking (front of the campus). If you were to walk to your car at late hours their are towers for assistance if/or when needed.
Clubs and Activities I wish to join the Accounting Society in the future.
Great for these types of students The College of business building is great for the business major students, the environment is very sophisticated, its not just an ordinary building that looks just like a school building.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Since I usually don't live on campus I rarely see any unusual traditions or locations on campus.
Bang for the buck Here at TAMUCC bang for my buck is great, their are tons of options including: food, space, etc. to choose from. Only making it worth being here.
What to do for fun What I like to do for fun, is get together with my family and close friends and having our weekly lunch/dinner. Like to do a lot of different art projects when I have the chance, and also going out to restaurant and the movies, is all relaxing especially when it comes to being in college.
Food and Dining The food and Dining at TAMUCC is great, either it being a deli, vending machine, or the University Center their are lots of choices to choose from. Best thing is having Starbucks and subway on campus!
Dorm Life Currently do not leave in the dorms or for that matter not even in Corpus Christi. I Commute every other day of the week from my hometown about a hour away.
Academic Rigor My Academic Rigor is far from harsh as in dealing with people, I enjoy every part of the college.
Tips for prospective students Tips for prospective students is to always true your best no matter if it gets hard, always be prepared, especially when it comes to the first day of classes.
In three sentences I would rate Texas A & M University- Corpus Christi a 9 out 10, compared to the last college I was at in my home town, it is a huge step up. The environment is warm and very inviting, especially being right by the shoreline.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Very safe and easy to navigate
Greek Life Not involved.
Clubs and Activities Several clubs for all walks of life at TAMUCC
Great for these types of students People interested in Kinesiology, Marine biology, or business majors
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We are an island, other than that, I am not sure.
Bang for the buck TAMUCC is cheaper than other in state colleges, books and supplies can get pricey, and housing seems to be a bit high for what is offered on campus
What to do for fun There are several beaches! Clubs, restaurants, and other places to hang out.
Food and Dining On campus dining is very good, Chick-Fil-A and Subway headline a nice array of dining and food choices all over.
Academic Rigor Classes are difficult, but with focus and time put into them, they are easily attainable.
Tips for prospective students Prospective students should visit the campus to see its constructive layout. Be sure to have meetings with an academic adviser to ensure you have the right classes for your major. Do not lose focus on school, parties are fun, but not the reason that you are there. GPA is everything.
In three sentences A beautiful campus on it's own island between the Corpus Christi Bay and Oso Bay in Corpus Christi, Texas. It has palm trees and walking paths setting the mood for a laid back kind of lifestyle. Staff and students are all very friendly and helpful when needing information on anything.
