Around Town

Depending if you are 21 you can go to the few bars in downtown San Marcos. What a lot of people like to do is to go down to the San Marcos river to either tan and swim in Sewell Park or tube down the river on a hot day.

Floating the river when its hot with your friends is the best fun ever.

The river is a great place to go hang out, as well as playing basketball, volleyball, racquetball, or ping pong at the rec center.

Texas State is right on the river which almost everyone on campus goes to for swimming, laying out, or playing football or frisbee. Also, just off of Wonder World (about ten minutes from campus) is Purgatory Creek, good for hiking or biking and is beautiful. Not to mention San Marcos is only about 30 minutes from Austin and 45 minutes from San Antonio, and four exits away from the Outlet Mall.

You can go to the river, bowling alley, and movie theater.

50 miles away from San Antonio there are a lot of things to do.

The river is of course a must do, whether it be going to Lions Club, or tubing down. It's always a good time. There is also Tantra Coffee House, which is by far the best coffee house in town, with live music and amazing coffee it is the best place to study or to just hang out with some really cool people. The tap room in the square has the best burgers in town- I highly recommend the guacamole queso burger and fries. Also San Marcos is home to some amazing artists and there are cool shows all the time. From small home art shows to major galleries, the art here is the best.

FLOAT THE RIVER!!! Play disc golf. Head over to the Outlet Mall. Catch some sun or toss a few with Frisbee Dan at Sewell Park. Go to Frat parties during rush week. Spend all day in Half Price Books. Go to George's, the on-campus bar and game room. What's there NOT to do?
