I transferred here to Tx State because this school offered engineering and computer degrees that were not available at my other school. I have been generally happy with the teachers and courses. I am frustrated by some teachers who get too picky about details which are not as important to the subject and to my overall learning.

The academics are rigorous, the professors are great and love to engage conversation with their students. The atmosphere is amazing, everyone very friendly. San Marcos is in between two major cities and outdoor activities are vast.

Texas State is a university for students with a drive to do the best in their classes. Though not the most well known university, Texas State takes pride in the academic achievement of their students, their growing recognition as a research institution, and the many opportunities they provide in many different fields of study. All in all, if you're looking for an opportunity to be a part of one of the best institutions in Texas, Texas State is the school for you.

Former graduate student of Dr. Michelle Lane in the Nutrition Program at Texas State University. I know her from her days as a faculty member at UT. She did not make tenure there. Worked in her lab, like all other students in the lab I was also unable to repeat any experiments published . Was verbally and psychologically abused on several occasions for bringing up research inconsistencies. She threatened to fire me several times (another graduate student was fired). I Spoke to my colleagues at ICMB at UT. Confirmed my suspicions all along, that she cooks up data and was fired because of that and for blaming the chair and other faculty of the department. A friend at UT, confirmed seeing an internal memo from ORI investigating her and a letter of inquiry from NIH in his mentors office. Posts all kind of random and insulting details about students on her facebook page. She insulted a student publicly online on facebook for making an honest simple mistake. I quit working with her ASAP to save my career, considering the impending fallout from State and Federal investigation.

Texas State University has taught me more about myself than I could ever have dreamed. It has shown me the level of commitment I originally had for school and has taught me the importance of staying motivated in my academics, as well as creating a good network of supportive friends and allowing myself to ask for help when I need it. College life, though it is sometimes hard not to get caught up in the social aspect of it, has been a very healthy experience for me in allowing myself to grow as a student, friend, and daughter.

Texas State is a BEAUTIFUL campus, with lots to see and do. It offers plenty of opportunists to network and make friends, but has a faculty and staff that still pushes you to do well. It is a GREAT day to be a Bobcat!

Texas State so far has been a breeze. The application process was quick because of the helpful academic and financial aid advisors. There are so much activities and organizations always going on in campus so there is definitely a lot of life going on if this is what you are looking for.

Great university filled with easy going students and professors too. For me this school was just big enough, to meet new and interesting friends and acquaintances, and just small enough to have supportive and meaningful relationships with all of my professors. This school offers students the opportunity to challenge your academics, and also provides a student with new challenges socially and politically when taking all basic required courses.
