    Campus Safety

The school is pretty safe i mean we are on the good side of atlanta with the business people and we have so many guards here its not funny not to metion the cameras EVERYWHERE .

    Greek Life

I heard key word being HEARD we had a chapter for co ed called grammy U but I never seen them meet or much on them as a group.

    Clubs and Activities

We have about 20 clubs here listed but non of them actually meet or sponsor anything so I would really say there is no clubs here.

Great for these types of students

If you like to wear whatever ,say whatever, and do whatever just because then you will love this school. This school is great for rich kids who just want to spend money and say they did something productive with there life.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Everything is pretty normal here as far as traditions go we dont really have any. The people here dress crazy and don't match as some attempt to pattern block. I feel sorry for the future fashion of america.

    Bang for the buck

NOT A GOOD DEAL> COST WAY TOO MUCH TO COME HERE! The food is high the school is pricey and everything you need in between time is going to cost too.

    What to do for fun

As far as things fun to do sponsored by the school they is non our school is the worst at coming up with events which is bad because we are an art school .

    Food and Dining

Not many choices of things to eat but what they do serve is pretty good. One cafe upstairs on the 5th floor and there is meal plans but i doubt you will need one.

    Dorm Life

Depending on what apartment you get put into the living is expensive but its pretty nice. 950 a month reguardless of where you go and the keep uping the price.

    Academic Rigor

The classes are easy a little to easy if you ask me for the amount i am paying. If you know anything about your major before coming to this school then your whole first year will be a waste of money because you wont learn anything.

    Tips for prospective students

I recommed if you want to come to this school that you do all of your research and make sure that this is the investment for you. I would also say the they win the lotto or have alot of money because this school cost a lot.

    In three sentences

I feel like AI is a great school if you are coming to work on your skills. The school is also good if you are looking to network for your future business or with another person. I think the school is WAY too pricey but the people and classes as great.

    Campus Safety

There are many security guards around and you need a badge to get on campus.

    Greek Life

    Non-existent here.

    Clubs and Activities

There are numerous clubs on campus. You are sure to find one that meets your tastes.

Great for these types of students

If you are hands on and hate spending every homework night looking at microsoft office, then this is the school for you.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Nothing out of the ordinary really.

    Bang for the buck

Its 3 years for a bachelor's but it still is a bit expensive.

    What to do for fun

There are usually events going on on campus every week. They let you know.

    Food and Dining

There is a restaurant in the school run by senior level culinary students. You can get fancy restaurant quality food at low prices.

    Dorm Life

Apartments. You share one with up to 3 people but it is still better than living in a dorm. This is the situation in the San Diego location anyway.

    Academic Rigor

I am in probably what is the most difficult field; game programming. We deal with concepts that are harder to grasp than the other fields.

    Tips for prospective students

This school is more for actually learning and practicing skills. Expect projects instead of term papers.

    In three sentences

The school is very cozy. The teachers all have real world experience. Every class is very hands on.

    What to do for fun

The student services center is always doing something interesting each week. Just check it out and see if there is something you'll want to do!

    Food and Dining

Culinary program + food = mmm. There is a mess room that the culinary students work at and sell food on a daily basis. They also have a restaurant on the second floor, which is run by students from a specific class. It's pretty good.

    Dorm Life

I have not been to the dorms.

    Academic Rigor

Personally, I don't think the classes are too hard. I love the topic matter I am studying and enjoy learning about it. Many, though, struggled with the work.

    Tips for prospective students

Do your research. Don't go there without any knowledge of what you want from them. It will make the entire admissions process so much easier if you know what you want. This included the financial aid office - be prepared. My first visit into the financial aid office felt like I was talking to a salesperson. As long as you've done your research, you will be fine.

    In three sentences

The Art Institute knows what they're doing when it comes to their facilities. I'm in the Culinary classes - I love the cooking laboratories. Unfortunately, though, it's pricey and some procedures seem outdated.

    Campus Safety

Cops are not far from the North Hollywood campus here in California. So much so you have to be careful when you walk across the street when not at an intersection if you don't want a ticket. Disturbances can happen, but they are few and far between. Security usually patrols the floors and the stairs for emergencies are accessible.

    Greek Life

There isn't one. Who needs Omega's, Alpha's, and Beta's when you need to worry about whether your color scheme is what the teacher wanted or if it compliments like you want it to.

    Clubs and Activities

A club for every purpose and reason? Unimaginable, but definitely possible and definitely available.

Great for these types of students

ART, ART, ART, and PATIENT students. Don't expect it to be easy and definitely be interested in art otherwise you are in the WRONG school.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Career Day and club activities are definitely unusual traditions. They seem more like less work and more play, but that's just how everyone comes together as a family.

    Bang for the buck

You get the bang for your buck especially when the school is nice enough to hold off tuition increases for students.

    What to do for fun

Draw in the cintiq lab, walk around and see the art, talk with peers in the lounges, read in the library, search the web on a computer, play a game, or just nap.

    Food and Dining

We have places to buy around and vending machines, but sometimes you just want some healthy snacks.

    Dorm Life

It's expensive! Not surprising, but rooming with up to four people in an apartment sometimes just isn't worth the trouble, especially during finals.

    Academic Rigor

Some classes are almost too easy while others can be struggling to make deadlines. However, when you push yourself for that A, make your money count, and remember your goal you find the work pays off. It helps when teachers are willing to work with you.

    Tips for prospective students

Have all the information you may need and when you tour the school talk to the students to get an idea of how classes and the school works. Every degree and program are different, but some opinions go across the board. By talking to some of the students you'll get a better idea of the environment than through just a tour.

    In three sentences

This school has its problems depending your state, but it offers good classes with teachers willing to work with students. Classes that challenge and push your creativity further than before. With an environment totally dedicated to the artist in us all.

    Campus Safety

The security guards are super nice.... Not very effective as security guards, but nice people.

    Greek Life

There are no fraternities associated with this school, thank god.

    Clubs and Activities

There isn't much along the lines of extra curricular activities on this campus.

Great for these types of students

Anyone with a need for a creative outlet, looking for a good real life experience.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There isn't anything unusual at this campus except some of the students.

    Bang for the buck

You definitely get the degree and the training to get you into your desired field. I don't however, think that the college experience here is worth the money.

    What to do for fun

Pittsburgh is a very interesting city. Lots to do in walking distance, and transit is reasonable.

    Food and Dining

There is no meal plan at this campus.

    Dorm Life

I would not recommend living on campus to anyone.

    Academic Rigor

Faculty is extremely supportive and encouraging.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't hold yourself back just because you think someone else is better. Don't move into the dorms.

    In three sentences

Instructors are on task and helpful, for the most part. Students are comfortable and can be themselves. Creativity is encouraged and supported by most faculty and peers.

    Campus Safety

It's a pretty small campus, all in one building. It's pretty secure and parking is not far away. I feel pretty safe when I'm there and haven't heard of any incidents, either.

    Greek Life

    None that I know of.

    Clubs and Activities

If there are any clubs then I haven't really heard of them yet.

Great for these types of students

Hard-working adults who are focused on learning and achieving their goals. Not a party school.

    Bang for the buck

So far, I feel that I'm getting my moneys' worth. The only thing I would criticize are the kits that they give you. They include the price of the kit in with tuition and if you can opt out of it then I would suggest that you do and just buy your own art supplies for school.

    What to do for fun

The school is in Tampa, a great city to be in full of life and diversity. It's a fun place to be.

    Food and Dining

There are a lot of restaurants all around Tampa. Lots of hispanic kinds of food, too.

    Dorm Life

I'm not in the dorms, but I have heard from classmates that they have fun and that it's a really nice place to stay.

    Academic Rigor

Like I said, it's hard work. Don't expect to take it easy, the instructors expect a lot out of you but they are reasonable. Don't expect to skip classes, either, attendance is VERY important.

    Tips for prospective students

Be prepared to work hard. It isn't easy, but it's worth it.

    In three sentences

The Art Institute of Tampa is focused on preparing their students to be respected professionals in their field. The faculty are very friendly and very helpful and make you feel welcomed and unafraid to ask for guidance or assistance. The instructors are strict, but fair and fun.

    Campus Safety

It's a pretty small campus and it's not in the bad part of town. It's actually near some really nice business offices and a park. There's a golf course nearby too. Campus is beautiful! Right on a pond. There's really no areas for lurkers and I have never seen any fights, drama, or any incidents involving violence, drugs, alcohol, etc. There's also always a security guard at the main entrance to the school checking IDs. Side entrances require the ID to be scanned in order to get into the school.

    Greek Life

    There are no sororities/fraternities.

    Clubs and Activities

So many clubs, omg. I really had a hard time narrowing it down to three.

Great for these types of students

The students here are very diverse. We're all of the artistic variety but we express ourselves very differently.

    Bang for the buck

It really is expensive but I feel like I'm getting what I paid for (a fast pace thorough education)

    What to do for fun

There are a TON of clubs you can join and the groups are always doing some project or other.

    Food and Dining

I love the creative palette cafe! The food is always awesome.

    Dorm Life

I can't speak for dorm life because I live by myself in an apartment uptown. From what I've heard, it's convenient but not necessarily fun.

    Academic Rigor

Very fast paced. You've gotta keep up or else you will quickly fall behind. I feel as if my teachers are teaching me everything they know. There are a select few who seem like they have no idea what they're doing but I've experienced that at every college I've attended.

    Tips for prospective students

It's expensive. Do not go here if you can't afford it otherwise you'll bee paying in student loan debt later. Don't waste your own time either by flip flopping through programs. You NEED to know what program you want to pursue with your artistic abilities otherwise you're just wasting your money.

    In three sentences

I really enjoy this school. While expensive, I feel as if the education is thorough and the teachers are great. You will have to work hard in order to keep up with the fast paced classes.

    Food and Dining

The Art Institute has food prepared for students in the deli from the culinary students. There is also a small restaurant that is ran by the culinary students as part of their curriculum that stays open for a couple of hours a day. The food is great and accommodating for students on the go.

    Dorm Life

The Art Institute does not have an on-campus dormitory. The dorms are about 15 minutes away from the school. By car, foot, are bus-route, students get to school from the dorms. They have on-site laundry facilities, a small convenient store, and lots of social event places such a movie theatre and recreational outdoor spaces.

    Academic Rigor

The school is great about making sure you completely understand youe studies. Since it is a career based school, the instructors are there to help you as much as possible with a student/teacher ratio of appx. 18/1.

    Tips for prospective students

Speak with an advisor to help you get into the school. They will help you step by step financially, academically, and with give you options handling those aspects. Also talk to other students that already attend the school.

    In three sentences

Overall, the school is great. You really learn more about your major and the instructors are really hands-on. Before you leave, you'll know exactly what type of career path to take.

Great for these types of students

The online division at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh is perfect for the student who wants to make their own schedule. If you have a family or a full time job and need to be in class on your own time, the online program is perfect! It takes a lot of discipline and self control, the perfect environment for self starters.

    What to do for fun

I am attending the online division, I do not live on or around campus. Therefore, I am not aware of what to do for fun in the area or on campus.

    Food and Dining

I am attending the online division, I have no need for the food and dining program

    Dorm Life

    I live off campus

    Academic Rigor

The Art Institute of Pittsburgh's Onine Divison class schedule is a bit different than that of a traditional university. Each class session is 5.5 weeks long as opposed to the usual 12 week semester. This translates into each course load seeming magnified by 150%! There is a lot of ground covered in those 5.5 weeks and one must really keep up if they want to have a chance to succeed in the course. This being said, because it is an online forum there are not usually the traditional test methods set in place. Instead of the usual cramming for mid-terms and worrying about pop quizes there would be the occational open book, timed test to make sure the material is being absorbed. The work is not easy and at times can be very challenging.

    Tips for prospective students

I will be enrolling in the online division of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Being self motivated is the most important piece of advise I can give to any new students. Your success depends on you. You must learn how to manage your time efficiently to complete your course work. Because each class is only 5.5 weeks long, it is imperative to stay on top of the course load. You must work on your written communication skills to participate in the class discussions. These discussions are my favorite part about the online forum. Through talking with your classmates and commenting on the work they do you will make wonderful connections with the other students. This is important as you do not want to feel like you are going through this alone. It is important to have a support system, someone who knows what you are undertaking. The discussions will also help you to take criticisms and learn how to give them constructively. The last piece of advise I could give to a prospective student would be to make sure to understand what each and every professor expects of you and your work. What may have been okay with one professor is not necessarily okay with another. Enjoy the experience, it's a great opportunity!

    Dorm Life

Well we technically we don't have dorms down here we have apartments. They have some nice apartments for you down here and should come to love your roommates if you have the ones that are cool. I just don;t like the fact that you have to pay so much for them.

    Academic Rigor

I think academic wise they are the best fit for people that are more into their major then most people. They have classes that really test since I been here I been put to work.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure this is the school you want to be at because they are tough school to be in and plus they aren't cheap. If you come with an open mind, ready for hard work and have some good connections then the Art Institute is for you.

    In three sentences

    Bang for the buck

Overall, I think you get a lot out of the school for what you end up paying. Seems to be cheaper in the long run than other schools I was looking at going, offered a degree in what I really wanted to do, and I have learned a lot during the years.

    Food and Dining

Since I am an online student, I haven't eaten at the school. But a rating is required so I gave it a two.

    Academic Rigor

The professors expect you to work hard and pay attention.

    Tips for prospective students

You have to be self-motivated at any college, but especially when you are an online student. The teacher isn't looking at you & talking to you directly. You are responsible for logging in & remembering when assignments are due. Have fun, do your best, & you will learn a lot in your chosen field. What you put in your education is what you will get out of it in the end.

    Bang for the buck

It is very expensive to attend this school, students should make sure they are financially stable before going to such an expensive school.

    What to do for fun

The school provides activities through out the quarter, for example, at least once a year there's an Up All Night it's a big event thrown after classes are out full of activities, free food, and snacks until 4am! The school is located down the street from a big shopping area called Metrocenter, it's full of shopping areas and restaurants, it also has a Harkins Theaters. Downtown Phoenix has plenty of museums to explore and other exciting places to check out.

    Food and Dining

There are no meal plans like a university, there is access to a cafeteria with a full menu and coffee shop. There are a lot of grocery stores and restaurants near by as well.

    Dorm Life

The dorms at the Art Institute of Phoenix are in apartment complexes, one shares a 2 bedroom apartment with 3 other people or a 1 bedroom apartment with 1 other person. It includes everything you need to live on your own even a washer and dryer! It includes access to 2 pools and a gym, plus student events every quarter. They are very pricy and remember to read the contract, some of the staff forgets to tell students about updates in housing and contracts.

    Academic Rigor

The classes related to one's major are challenging, the challenge prepares one for the real world outside of school, it's what every student needs. The classes that are just math, science, English, etc, are not as difficult since the teachers know one is not there for English, but for art.

    Tips for prospective students

It's easy to get in, but the real test is, can you stay in? Students who are unsure of what they want to do tend to drop out within the first year, so take some time to figure out what you want to do before registering to an Art Institute.

    In three sentences

Hello future college students, I'm currently a student at the Art Institute of Phoenix. This school has and excellent curriculum and teachers, it's a small for profit college, if you've got the passion and are able to afford it, go for it.

Great for these types of students

This school is for students who can pay out of their pocket cash and it wouldn't be a detriment to their finances.

    What to do for fun

    Find a better school.

    Food and Dining

They have a special culinary program for the students to enjoy. However obtaining a student food card is highly difficult and issued to certain individuals.

    Dorm Life

    There are no dorms.

    Academic Rigor

The only thing I've comprehended was the unethics of the scam of accepting students and forcing them to apply for loans where they will be forever indebted.

    Tips for prospective students

RUN AND DO NOT LOOK BACK. The teachers are wishy washy with no form of academic structure, and the application process can be a major headache.

    In three sentences

The Art Institutes are a scam. The financial aid is a loop whole. The education was too bland and I was not retrieving valuable information that would allow me to further myself academically.

    Clubs and Activities

clubs are amazing. they are fun and really get you involved in your major.

    Bang for the buck

This is the downside. its expensive. and when i say expensive i mean they screw you over and rip you off with the student supply kit charging a varied amount of 400.00 to 800.00 for a pack of supplies you could go to target or fred meyers and get the exact same equipment for around 125.00 if less than that.

    What to do for fun

Hang out with classmates. i cannot stress this enough that your college friends will be the reason why you enjoy your school. because it is the reason why i enjoy mine. if not for my friends i would not be enjoying this experience right now. but besides friends, my school is located next to the armory, a portland stage play house which i go to every once in awhile. its downtown portland there is plenty of things to do downtown.

    Food and Dining

Located in the pearl district, food is only moments away. there are so many shops and places to go for a quick snack or a dinner and lunch. The only downside is that if you dont have money then well... your out of luck.

    Tips for prospective students

Students i cannot stress this enough that everything you find at the art institute you can find elsewhere at Portland State University. if you just want your education then go through your community college to your university, im pretty sure you'll find the same classes for cheaper. but if you are looking for the experience and the great community then this school is the place for you, especially since it its located in a very good college environment.

    In three sentences

Not a bad school, but holds misleading statements as their forefront for attracting incoming freshman. for a student looking for the experience of an art school and a quick bachelor degree come here this is the place for you, but if your looking for top of the notch experience you can look elsewhere.

    Campus Safety

The apartment complex that the student housing is set in is high-end and safe, the campus is in a good part of town and there are no hazardous areas.

    Greek Life

    No sororities here, unfortunately?

    Clubs and Activities

There are a TON of clubs and activities, most of them geared towards making projects and connections with other students and making contacts for the future when they're in need of, say, an animator when they're working on a film. I'm not in any, but my roommate and friends who are in some say that they're great fun.

Great for these types of students

Social students, students who are enthusiastic about their art (of course!), nerds, geeks and usually quiet people, since the latter three groups will find themselves among friends in most situations.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Every quarter, there's a new artistic contest at the Ohio-Cincinnati AI - for the summer quarter it was rubber duckies, and the coming fall quarter will be mini pumpkins. The third floor of the AI campus is deserted and can't be accessed by elevator, so we joke that Slenderman lives there. The Student Lounge is also usually populated by people playing video games on the big screen TV there.

    What to do for fun

It honestly depends on who you are. I invite friends over to my apartment, my roommates go to clubs, we watch movies, order pizza, et cetera. Our AI is outside of Cincinnati, although Mason is a cool town with lots of restaurants and a bowling alley, movie theater and such within walking distance of the apartments. On campus, the student lounge is always a party.

    Food and Dining

There is no public eatery other than the culinary-student-run gourmet restaurant on campus. You're expected to buy food and cook for yourself, though in the long run it's easier and cheaper than buying lunch/dinner every day, and it teaches new students how to manage their own budget.

    Dorm Life

The AI that I attend buys out high end apartment complexes, and all the basic amenities of home are provided for you in your apartment. Your end of the bargain is keeping it clean. Most of the time, the guest rules, curfew rules and noise rules aren't strictly enforced unless you're really causing a ruckus. Roommate choices are made by the student housing advisers, who take your application and match it up to three others with similar requests. If you're lucky, like I was, you'll end up with three great roommates who will make college a unique and unforgettable experience outside the classroom.

    Academic Rigor

The art classes challenge you to challenge yourself and the creative limits of your mind by teaching you to work with many mediums - from pencil to ink to foamcore board - and across all dimensions of art. The general education classes aren't as challenging as classes in other colleges, but they provide you with a foundation that will help you in other classes and in your life beyond college.

    Tips for prospective students

Please know what you're going into when you start; there are people here who are living their dreams, and people who are getting a degree for the heck of it. AI is expensive, but you need to make sure it's worth it for you. Make sure to keep in contact with your teachers, and also check to see if your financial aid will cover your books.

    In three sentences

If you're wanting to go into a field that involves modern, active art - such as fashion, culinary, film or animation - the Art Institutes is definitely a high-quality college to start with. Their admissions process is straightforward and comprehensive, they arrange meetings with every new student to help with financial aid as much as possible, they provide a lot of benefits for veterans hoping to attend their school and the staff that I have met so far are all friendly and cheerful. The Art Institutes provide the tools and background that a creative mind needs in order to understand how to create more effective and striking art while competing in a highly competitive field.

Although this college is a little more expensive then other schools, the amount of work that they do to enhance your experience and simplify your life goes far beyond the cost to attend; for example, the amount of gas and time that you would need in order to find and purchase your own books is not needed here. The books are a simple download, and are available as soon as class starts.

There are not guards on every corner, which help with the laid back feel of the campus. You should keep you ID tag on you at all times or they will stop you from entering until someone confirms that you are a student or a guest with a student.

Great for these types of students

This is a great place for art students to get together and learn about all kinds of similar and different traits between each other. I made several friends within the first two weeks of my classes because my classmates are so easy and fun to talk to, even when we disagree on what we do and do not like.

    Bang for the buck

The college is expensive, but what college isn't. The reason I think you get your money's worth is that they let you design how you want, with minimal requirements on projects other than to just get it done. Teachers don't tell you specifically how a project has to look, so you can add you own crazy twists to it.

    What to do for fun

There are student lounges at the school where you can hang out with your friends and play games, get snacks, and just chat. You also have many books in the library that you can use for research or just to read. I have not seen many clubs around but there are scheduled events that students can attend almost every week.

    Food and Dining

The food from out kitchen is cooked from our own culinary students and is set up like a very nice restaurant. I have tasted the food myself and it is very delicious.

    Dorm Life

I do not actually live in the dorms, but the apartments that I have seen look nice. The only problem is that you and your roommates have to bring most of your own items from home such as cooking utensils and television set.

    Academic Rigor

The classes so far for me have been very easy, and there is a whole week between classes for me to get homework done or ask someone for help on what I don't understand.

    Tips for prospective students

You don't need to be afraid to ask either the teachers or even other students for help. They are very friendly and always are willing to help.

    Campus Safety

The Art Institute of Seattle is in the heart of Seattle and so safety around that area can be a little sketchy. With that being said, when you enter the actual campus buildings they take security very seriously. You need to have your ID badge when wandering around and you will be asked for it and ejected if you don't. They don't want other people to enter and cause any problems.

    Clubs and Activities

There are clubs for everybody; all you have to do is ask. If you can't find a club that is right for you then just make one and you'll get people to join you in a short time.

Great for these types of students

Students who are serious about wanting a job in the art field will love it here. You need to love what you go to this school for because you're going to be doing it a lot.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

I went to community college and then a four year college before this one and I have to say that the biggest thing that has caught me off guard at this school has been the lack of drive of a lot of students. It is almost a tradition where you will begin a class with roughly 25 students and end the class with 6-8. It baffles me. Other then that, the strangest things that occur usually involve the teachers. They're all fun, but they've all got their quirks.

    Bang for the buck

I'm not going to lie, this school is expensive. That being said, the amount of experience and expertise that you will get in the field of your choice will astound you. I did a large amount of research into other colleges and none of them even came close. If you can make it through to the end and speak with career advising then you will have more than a 90% chance of being hired right out of school. All the classes that were offered at other colleges for graphic design (my major) were offered at the Art Institute plus more advanced versions to keep you ahead of the others. All in all, more than worth it.

    What to do for fun

There are always options of things to do such as joining clubs, activities, and networking with the staff. The staff there are very friendly and have a significant amount of pull in their fields so making friends with them is a great step in the right direction. There are always things to do posted on the bulletin boards around campus if your bored and want some extra art projects. If you really want some extra fun then join a club with other people with a common interest. There are a lot of them and they all have a great people who want to come together and do something useful. If they don't have one you like then just make one and soon people will join.

    Food and Dining

The cafeteria has a decent selection of food but seeing as how the college is three blocks from Pike Place Market, where the food is astounding, it doesn't really matter.

    Dorm Life

I'm not actually living in the dorms, I commute from my apartment but I have talked about it with a lot of the other students there and they seem very satisfied with it.

    Academic Rigor

You need to stay at the top of your game because that is where the teachers expect you and you can fall behind really fast.

    Tips for prospective students

You get out of the school what you put in. If you don't put in the effort and just trying to skate by under the radar then you won't get much out of the school. The school does have a low graduation rate but that is because there are a lot of students who just go in for an easy BA and get burned out early. Show up for every class!!! Can't emphasize that enough.

    In three sentences

The school is a great place to learn how art is used in business and how you can be part of it. The college classes are easy to understand and very well thought out. I did a large amount of research before coming to Art Institute of Seattle and apart from it being expensive it was definitely the best choice by far.

Great for these types of students

This school is great for those who are creative, want to be creative and aren't exactly traditional learners. The cool part about being an online student is that you have all access to faculty, tutoring and your peers just as you would on campus.

    What to do for fun

Campus common was created for online students. It's similar to social networking sites. The campus common allows online students to interact on topics non related to school work and also join forums of interest.

    Academic Rigor

The material covered in each course encourages the students to push beyond their comfort zone to excel. As a student you have the opportunity to freely express yourself through your work and are encouraged to think critically. This is a key characteristic of the Art Institutes given the low teacher to student ratio, which allows for this unique learning opportunity.

    Tips for prospective students

Prospective students should keep in mind that The Art Institutes operate on an accelerated schedule compared to other Universities and Colleges. Studying and adhering to deadlines are a must, but all relevant and worth it in the end!

    In three sentences

The educators at the Art Institutes are well rounded and have hands on experience in the industry pertaining to the major. The work is challenging, invigorating and rewarding.

    Bang for the buck

It is a bit pricey, but especially the fact that you do not have to have your AA before transferring, you can come in with whatever credits you have under your belt and start right away. It's easy to get it, sure, but not easy to graduate. They make it tough for a reason, so that you really have the drive to learn. The students that don't want to be there get weeded out pretty quickly, so be sure that this is what you want before investing the cash.

    What to do for fun

There are always a lot of events on campus, Q&A with designers, casino nights, etc.

    Food and Dining

The on-campus restaurant is AMAZING! It is run by the culinary students and the menu changes constantly. It it something you absolutely have to check out.

    Dorm Life

    Don't live on campus.

    Academic Rigor

Each class requires a lot of time and effort. The general education classes(math, english) require a bit less as they are more typical college courses, but the classes that focus on your major require a lot of research, innovation, and mostly, your time. The more time you put into your work, the more you will get out of it.

    Tips for prospective students

Be sure to allot a significant amount of time for homework and projects. Since most of your work is project based, you have to be willing to invest the time to make the work worthwhile. It's not just a study then take a test type of school.

    In three sentences

This school is extremely informative and eye opening. While the curriculum is a tad unsteady due to extremely different teaching styles between professors, this only helps to broaden your spectrum on whatever aspect of design you choose to study. I have learned both technical and real-world information about my field of design(graphic) which I use every day.

The campus is well secured. The staff members do a great job of educating and informing students and future students of the safety precautions and actions to take in the event of a safety hazard.

    Clubs and Activities

I wasn't introduced to any clubs or school activities that are conducted outside of the class rooms. But given that the school is filled with creative mined students, I am sure that there are some fascinating and interesting student driven clubs and activities that go on within the school limits.

Great for these types of students

This school is great if you are the type of person that likes to customize things with your own thoughts and ideas rather than the normal standard that everyone else has. If you are a person who is self-driven and have a strong passion and dream that you would like to create and live. If you are the type of person who sees the world as a huge pot of opportunity and the sky is the limit as long as you have the tools or skill sets to grab it.

    Food and Dining

The dining hall and cafeteria is second to any other school I have attended. They have one of the best restaurants in town, Houston that is, whom serve nutritious, delicious first class dishes

    Dorm Life

Although this school is more of a private and small technical school, they have a dorm system set up like those of large university. It's actually a bit more of a modern economy lifestyle as students stay in an apartment complex rather than a dormitory. Students get the taste of the real world while still being monitored and supported by the school.

    Academic Rigor

The challenges that I came to conclude would only apply to students who may have some skills already and look to only take a set of particular classes. This can be challenging because the curriculum is designed to take classes in hierarchy progression and you are required to take some classes in order to another.

    Tips for prospective students

    Clubs and Activities

There is a club for every major and almost every interest. Photography Club, Animation Club, and others. There is always some event that goes on. From DanceDanceRevolution night to free massages during midterm and finals week. A lot of fun.

    Food and Dining

The school has a cafe with pretty good food and nice staff.

    Dorm Life

I stayed in the dorms for a short time and i hated it. There was a lot of immature people who didn't care and extremely rude. The RAs, residential advisers, were very nice and polite. But they found it difficult to contain the stupidity of the dorms. I found that there was too much drama. Me personally...I don't handle that bs. The school is awesome and it is surprising that they are the same people.

    Academic Rigor

One thing you should know...either do your work to the best of your ability or flunk. All professors expect dedication and completed work. No half-ass-ing anything. Also, unless you're in the hospital or have an amazing excuse, try not to miss a class. The policy is that if you miss three class, you're done and will have to repeat the course. Many teachers will allow you to make up work, but you better make it look like you spent a good amount of time with it and not like you made it the night before.

    Tips for prospective students

If you're interested in joining the school, be prepared to work. Many of are teachers will push you to the breaking point to see if you have what it takes to face the real world. I know I've been there. My first quarter at the school, I wanted to quit and give up. Now, I'm so glad I didn't. I kept pushing for what i want. From what I have learned, some professors find it admirable if you fight for what you want, or if you go completely outside your comfort zone. Don't be afraid to speak your mind.

    In three sentences

I have been attending the Art Institute in Miami for almost two years now and I have never met so many people with a fixed idea of where they want to be later on in life. Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

All you can eat Sushi bar. Discount Theater.

    Bang for the buck

They have security officers that are at both campuses from open to close, and they also have a door person on the first floor upon entering the building.

    Greek Life

The only Greek organization is Kappa Omicron Nu, which is for students who excel in their studies and have high a GPA. Other than that, if you want to be in a traditional sorority or fraternity, you will have to contact a city chapter for that.

    Clubs and Activities

There are plenty of clubs available, some greater than others, and some more consistent with activities than others.

Great for these types of students

This school is great for students who are determined to graduate regardless of the sacrifice and the cost, meaning you will have NUMEROUS all-nighters that you will have to pull, your health will definitely be affected from the stress, and be ready to deal with the rampant unfair practices of some of the faculty at this particular school.

    Bang for the buck

I believe that for the most part I received my money's worth when it came to knowledge versus the amount of money I paid to go here. However, I would caution ANY perspective student: do NOT take your general education classes at this institution! Go to a city school after getting the course schedule for your chosen major from AI, and then pick your gen ed classes based upon that schedule to transfer to AI once you have taken all required courses somewhere else!

    Food and Dining

The culinary students often would make food available for all students for free, and it was ALWAYS quite delicious! There was no lunchroom for this school because it is not a traditional school.

    Academic Rigor

The coursework for my program was extremely challenging and difficult at times. However, sometimes undo stress was placed upon students in my major because a couple of the instructors were very unreasonable at times in regards to various issues.

    Tips for prospective students

You need to make SURE that you are ready to study for your core classes because they do not play here when it comes to the entertainment industry related majors. Also, TAKE YOUR GENERAL EDUCATION CLASSES AT A CHEAPER SCHOOL FIRST and THEN transfer them to AI!!

The campus is so locked up and safe that sometimes even students can't get in easily. Even though we share the building with some other companies, we have card scanners set up in all of the elevators and any of the doors to the stairways that could lead to the classrooms. You do not want to lose or forget your identification card.

Great for these types of students

    Bang for the buck

The Art Institutes are really pricy, but if you want a really hands-on education with fairly flexible scheduling then it's pretty good.

    Food and Dining

Most of the restaurants right around the school are actually restaurants and not really something you can just hop on over to during breaks to get food. There are a couple of places you can get little snacks besides just the vending machines in the lounges, but they can get kind of pricy.

    Dorm Life

I'm not living in the dorms currently, but I hear the apartment complex that my school is partnered with is supposed to be pretty nice. It's only a couple of streets down from the school and right around a bunch of shopping areas.

If you can go to a brick and morter school it might be best. If you are going back to school it may be a good option.

Not only does this school have a game room and a restaurant run by students. This place also has a nice fountain where you can just hang out where its nice and peaceful, there are more rooms in this school to just hang out as well.

    What to do for fun

For fun in the school, there are rooms called the student lounge where students can go and play any system they would like. Such as the Xbox or the PS3, and even the wii.

    Food and Dining

The school there has a restaurant run by a chef, and the students are the cooks. I hear that the food there is good. The price is not bad and it does not look too bad either.

    Dorm Life

By what i have heard, i hear that it is very nice to live in the dorms. There is a lot of space and the people there are quite friendly.

    Academic Rigor

This field is very hands on is fast. You have to be alert at all the things around you in the kitchen and must know the fundamentals of temperature danger zone of foods, and at what temperature they are done, and how to handle certain things.

    Tips for prospective students

I would say that if you would like to become a chef, you should be ready to be under a lot of pressure and be ready to make a lot of mistakes in your training. Be patient and always ready to learn. A chef never stops learning.

The Art Institute campus doesn't even have housing. What they claim to be housing, is a regular public apartment complex, it is non Ai owned but their are rooms that are rented for students. Note: it isn't an Ai complex, it is a regular apartment building with regular people. The housing is ridiculously expensive for what you get: you share the suite with 4 people, and share a small room with 1 other person. The suites Ai provides aren't all that great either, and the area where they are will turn a few heads.

When it comes to safety, they have security everywhere! I mean, they're are cameras in hallways that you can not see and if you steal something or vandalized the school they will find out immediately. The cameras are hidden and it doesn't disturb anyone and I haven't seen any commotion- that's how great the security is.

    Clubs and Activities

There are plenty of clubs and activity here, I unfortunately don't go due to so much work in my field, but I do hear that it's great. I do have time to see the student councils work when they make events- and it is awesome.

    Dorm Life

I do not live in a dorm, but I live close enough to where I can go to school through the DART bus and train station.

    Academic Rigor

There are many challenges in my field, but they help us overcome fear from our phobias. For me, speaking to people is hard but they had a class where it is essential to speak to one another and now I find it easy to talk to people.

    Tips for prospective students

I gave the Art Institute a four out a five because it is a very expensive to get an education. It's only expensive because of the instructors, they have more than five years of experience in the field and it's great that I'm paying for top notch education. I recommend students to be prepare, so get scholarships it will help. I don't recommend students coming to this school to procrastinate and waste these instructor's and professor's time- it's not fair to them or the student that want to learn. Overall, the faculty, and student are very kind and helpful to one another.

    In three sentences

I rate the Art Institute of Dallas a four out of five because when I decided to make this school my number one choice, I had the advisers and financial aid people to help me get through the process of being accepted and getting financial aid. The instructors have fantastic experience in teaching and in the field work, they always want you to succeed, so they push us to reach our successful goal. I've learn so much because of our instructors and professors, there is no doubt in mind that I'll ever drop out.

    Campus Safety

When I decided to move to the city dorm, another student begged me not to. The year prior one of her friends had been shot during a shooting outside of the dorm at the bus stop. It was a freak accident, but honestly not that unusual for the kind of neighborhood it's in. Another student was mugged at the dorm by a man in a motorcycle helmet. Another friend was punched in the face when she got a lighter out to help a stranger light a cigarette. They then took her portfolio and ran off with all her work. So no, safety really isn't that great here, but i'm sure things have changed at least a little. During the time I went they did start an escort service and mandatory safety class.

    Clubs and Activities

I wasn't in any clubs because there weren't any that were really established. By the time I left I feel like the student body was making more of an effort to get clubs going, so i'm sure there's something happening nowadays. You'll have to check.

Great for these types of students

Individuals who have an interest in the arts, but don't know what to do with their skills and are eager to please.

    Bang for the buck

Majority of individuals I know in various majors did not end up working for amazing companies. The job prospect here is extremely disappointing considering the tuition rate. This might also be contributed to the fact that I graduated in the middle of the recession. An internship I had been working for cut everyone's hours and pay. Other students struggled to find an internship at all. That said, compared to the other schools in the area, I felt like I was going to the worst option.

    What to do for fun

San Francisco is BOOMING with activities to do. You'd really have to be blind to not find something to do there.

    Food and Dining

They installed a mini 3rd party cafe while I attended school. Previously it was just a vending machine. The little cafe was adequate enough but really lacked for quality or variety. Fortunately the city was rich with options within a few blocks distance.

    Dorm Life

One dorm was miles and miles away in a cold sleepy town, while the other was in the middle of low income housing with a lot of unsavory types hanging around. The dorms were shared with normal apartments, so there were also non-students in the building. You'll have to luck out with what you get because from what I experienced, certain individuals got bigger apartments while others got shoebox size. It didn't seem like there was anything to it than luck. Generally, you'll probably find better deals on your own though its nice having roommates as freshman to socialize with!

    Academic Rigor

The teachers generally know what they're doing but a lot of them are inexperienced in teaching. As such, you may find great material, but not necessarily great direction. As I attended there were rules being placed where teachers were required to have a masters to teach upper division courses. This meant one of the BEST teachers we had, with years and years of industry experience, was now unable to teach any of the higher courses. Motivated students would go to her in her off hours and it was such a shame she couldn't just teach us something she was more than qualified to teach (minus a degree)! The quarter system is also something not to take lightly, especially if you plan on being a full-time student (much less a student with a job or any other kind of social life!) It really gave little time to put a lot of effort into any project because it would be due in a week or two. The real world doesn't function this way- but if you can keep up, you'll be a great project manager!

    Tips for prospective students

Do your research. Visit the school and see if you enjoy the city. This was probably one of the greatest disappointments for me. There were 2 options for school housing, one miles and MILES away in a dead town, and the other smack dab in the middle of a questionable neighborhood. The campus itself was in a very uninspiring office building where one floor had literally no windows for ventilation. You're spending most of you time in these spaces, so consider it carefully!

    In three sentences

This is for the Art Institute of California- San Francisco- the teachers were more or less great instructors, though the quarter system makes it hard to do any real work. Their focus on industry standards really leaves little room for creativity and to develop as a true artist. Come here if you want to go to a vocational school for artist, not as an artist looking to expand your horizons.
