I love being away at college. I think its an extremely great experience and I don't regret my decision at all. I'm extremely glad with my decision. Saint Rose is far enough away where I feel freedom from my parents, but close enough where if I ever needed to go home I could. I admit that Albany's unpredictable weather changes is something to adapt to, but I don't mind at all. The atmosphere around Saint Rose is friendly and very community based. People are really nice and polite and always looking out for other people.

Nearly every other week there is a campus wide event put on by a different club. The Student Association has many ways for every student to be involved so we spend a good majority of our time participating in many different types of events. The faculty enjoys being involved with us so they show up at many of the events as well. Also nearly all the sporting events are free to the students so we are able to go and support our fellow classmates.

People of all backgrounds and beliefs (sexual, religious, etc.) are welcome, and there are a multitude of clubs and organziations to get involved in. Everything is a short walk or (free!) bus ride away, as the campus is really small and you can reach one end of the campus to the other in no more than 15 minutes (and then still be a short walk away from a grocery store, movie theater, etc.). The only downside is the general area. Albany is a large city, and it has its share of problems. For instance, at night it's hard to hear anything beyond drunk people milling about outside, but if you can withstand that and don't do anything stupid like go off on your own after a reasonable hour, you'll be fine. Security and the Albany Police patrol the area a lot, and at Orientation they give you their numbers so you can contact them for an escort or emergency. Saint Rose is truly the oasis people look for, and it is reflected in the beautiful landscaping and care taken by the employees.
