Every year, as a part of New Student Orientation, the entire campus competes in a massive, house-verse-house, scavenger hunt that stretches across the entire city. We call it The Great Race. This is an amazing bonding time for you and your fellow house-mates and an event you'll always remember!

    Bang for the buck

As a student at The King's College you will receive a well rounded education. Not only does King's challenge you academically but also as a young professional. King's has an extraordinary Career Development office. You will find that the entire King's Community is well-connected. This means amazing internships, killer jobs, great learning opportunities, volunteer possibilities, and plenty of networking opportunities.

    What to do for fun

Metropolitan Museum of Art MoMA Go to the Park (Washington Square, Central, Madison Square, Tompkins) Go see a show Food--there are tons of amazing restaurants in NYC! Frisbee or Baseball Hangout with Friends Get Ice Cream/Sweets Watch a Movie Walk around and explore the city

    Food and Dining

King's doesn't have any official dining hall or cafeteria. There are a number of snack vendors and small cafe's nearby. This allows each student to grocery shop within their budget and their own liking. I've found that you end up saving money this way rather than having a meal plan. Plus you can eat what you want.

    Dorm Life

King's is arranged in the House System similar to Oxford. Rather than living on a dorm hall, you are placed in a fraternity of sorts. In addition, King's doesn't house students in dorms. The King's College sublets several different apartments in various parts of NYC.

    Tips for prospective students

Incoming or Prospective Students: - Be prepared to say no. There are many great clubs and organizations you can join, but you have to know how to say no or you'll be overcommitted. - Don't assume anything. College is the time to learn and gain valuable experience. Don't assume you already know something. - Time management is essential to success. - Don't overpack. Bring only the things that you absolutely need, then have your family mail things to you if you realize you need it or have room for it. - Studying is important. Good grades don't come easy. It takes studying and working hard in and out of class. - Community: be sure to invest in your House at King's. These relationships are going to last long after you graduate. - Enjoy college! School is sometimes difficult and a drag, but don't forget to enjoy being at college!

    Greek Life

King's has a House System, sort of like the Ivy League Hall system. Each student is placed into a House upon coming to King's. There are boy's houses and girl's houses, no co-ed ones. There is a House Competition that lasts all year and has lots of different components to compete in. Houses arrange activities with other Houses as well.

    Clubs and Activities

The King's Debate Society was started by students four years ago, and is now one of the top-ranked British Parliamentary style debate teams in the country. Mock Trial was started by students last year, and was invited to the National's this year. Students start the clubs and teams at King's, if you want something, get some students together and start it.

Great for these types of students

Interested in Politics, Philosophy, & Economics, Media, Culture, & the Arts, Business, Theology, and Great Books.

    What to do for fun

It's New York City, there's never a shortage of things to do. The MOMA is free on Friday afternoons, the MET is pay what you want, and has free student events every semester or so, student rush tickets get you into top plays for $20 or so, and there are tons of other free/cheap concerts, events, plays, and whatever else you can think of.

    Food and Dining

Currently, there is no meal plan or dining hall. Instead, students take advantage of all the restaurants and grocery stores in New York City. The apartments are equipped with full kitchens, so students can make their own meals.

    Dorm Life

Currently, housing is in four different locations throughout the city: two apartment buildings in Midtown, one in Brooklyn, and a building on the Lower East Side.

    Academic Rigor

If I could give 4 1/2 stars, I would. The school does fantastic with most classes that relate to the core curriculum of the three majors, but when they try to get into math and science, the class quality drops a bit. I transferred from a highly intensive math and science program, so I have not had to take the classes personally, but I did tutor students in those classes, and the teaching style was not geared for students who don't have a natural bent towards math and science.

    Tips for prospective students

Definitely visit the school if you're really interested, and make sure you talk to other students, not just the admissions staff.

    In three sentences

Not for everyone. Only three majors, Politics, Philosophy, & Economics, Business Management, and Media, Culture, and the Arts. Great school for those who like to think, like to write, and like to be challenged.
