Categories Comments Great for these types of students this school would be great for students who really want to focus on their school. the student teacher ratios are very low compared to other universities so be ready to be accommodated when you need a little extra help.
Tips for prospective students Yes its a bit pricey but its a private school so now matter where you are from you pay the same as Florida residents. the counselors are more then helpful if you have any questions i would email them they will for sure clear up any questions they can. the school also is very good about giving grants. Make sure if you think you need help with tuition you apply for the aid

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students who are determined and hard-working looking for a great education. If you like small classes and being able to work with your professors this is the college for you. The sports teams are also very good and UT offers a lot of clubs and interactive events.
Tips for prospective students Take a tour of the college and definitely attend the open house days. Talk to some of the students and professors and make sure you feel like UT is the college for you. If you're going to apply make sure you also apply for their scholarships and grants. That will help you a lot and you will probably receive at least one. If you need any help or have any questions don't be afraid to talk to a counselor or advisor. They are more than happy to help you anytime and are quick to respond.
Bang for the buck It is a very expensive school but you will get your money's worth.
Am enjoying being here The environment is great and the location is very nice. The whole campus makes you feel like you're at home.
Am learning a lot Since the class sizes are so small, the professors are able to focus more on the individual students and therefore make sure that you do learn and pass the class.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students University of Tampa is especially great for students who want the feel of a large university within a much smaller environment. We have so much here on campus all withing walking distance, you don't have to ride a bike to get from building to building. It's also a great school if you live in Florida as I do, you can live on campus and have the independence, but still not be that far away in case you need something from home. Another plus, no expenses to travel home during breaks.
Tips for prospective students Apply here early. Tour the campus, get the full picture. You will love what you see.
Bang for the buck I believe I am getting the best education possible. University of Tampa is a private school with a lot of class.
Am enjoying being here I enjoy being here in the heart of Tampa Bay. Close to movie theaters, museums, sports arenas, and much more. The campus is beautiful, and the dorms are spacious.
Am learning a lot The University of Tampa is a great learning environment. The small class sizes and a no teaching assistants policy, help in getting the most out of every class. It is easier to learn when you aren't one out of a class of 400, and when only professors with PhD's are actually doing the teaching.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Definitely a great Business school. The business programs are amazing and you learn so much. Also look into the study abroad programs!
Tips for prospective students Don't ever wait until the last minute with anything. If something needs to get done, like financial aid or a hold on your account. Just get it done as soon as you can. If not, you'll be stuck waiting in line for hours with the other students who procrastinated.
Bang for the buck The University of Tampa is one of the most expensive schools I applied for. I could have gone to a much cheaper school. But with everything I'm learning and how much I enjoy college, I'd say it's worth it. The only problem is trying to get all the financial aid I can get.
Am enjoying being here The campus has an old-world feel that's very unique to downtown Tampa. The minarets are beautiful and walking anywhere on campus doesn't take long at all. And the other students are very friendly and helpful.
Am learning a lot I'm actually a transfer student. So I've experienced an out of state college before. I'm now living at home and decided to give UT a chance. The class sizes vary but are usually very small so the teachers know you by name. They are very flexible with office hours and trying to find you help. They aren't here to make sure you get an A, they're there to make sure you understand all of the concepts. I'd rather get a B and understand the material than get an A and understand nothing.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Social butterflies adapt incredibly well. If you're a wallflower that wants a large group of friends, you're better off going to USF or UCF.
Tips for prospective students Spend most of your time when you can by the river and the library. Avoid the cafeteria from 2-4 pm. Be ready to find a nice quiet spot to concentrate on work away from the main buildings- people stare and get frustrated with you if you stay in one spot for over an hour. Bring extra nasal decongestants. Most of the classrooms in Plant Hall (the main building) reek of mold and always carry a jacket. Always check Rate My Professor before signing up for classes.
Bang for the buck I feel like I've wasted a lot of scholarships on a school that lies about staff to student ratios. Most of the professors can't bother to learn your name and half of the classrooms could use some serious work as does the food service.
Am enjoying being here Unless you're a social butterfly, it's hard to adapt to Tampa. The students aren't all that friendly and quite a few professors don't talk to the freshmen. The campus is pretty stunning, but looks aren't everything.
Am learning a lot There are plenty of interesting classes, but some of them just repeat the same information as the lower core classes. The professors have some interesting side facts and tangents that do make learning a little better.

Categories Comments Campus Safety every resident hall is very secure as you need a spartan id card activated for that specific residence hall to gain access. in addition, at night there are security guards posted at the entry desk in residence halls. security officers are constantly patrolling campus. laser team is also available to drive students across campus in the evenings. this is particularly valuable resource if you are studying late in the library or were hanging out in a friends dorm. it is a free and safe way to get across campus!
Clubs and Activities sports clubs, debate team, extreme elite, quidditch, scuba club, greek life, student productions, free exercise courses are the gym... if you can name it ut probably has a club for it!
Great for these types of students students who enjoy smaller class sizes because of the increased potential for academic success. students who enjoy being involved in volunteer work and clubs. students who are very social and wish to meet students from all over the world.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus the university of tampa has two annual volunteer events, that students may participate in. in to the streets in the fall, and the martin luther king day of service in the spring. both are a lot of fun, let you meet new students, and let you explore and help the local community.
Bang for the buck the university of tampa provides a lot of activities, counseling resources, a great clinic, good food, and wonderful residence halls. the professors are all highly professional and trained, and are willing to talk to students outside of class. the small class sizes really make the cost of ut worth it because you are able to discuss issues with your professors and you are more than just a face in the crowd to them. nearly two years after taking an honors english course, my professor still waves to me if we cross on campus, and asks how i am doing.
What to do for fun student production is constantly having free movie nights, exam jams (massive parties in vaughn during exam week), and other events. the peace organization is a great resource to get involved and volunteer in the community. the residence life association has different events going on in the evening and on many weekends. the pool is a common hangout spot -- even in the winter! there are also club teams for people who like to do sports, in addition to tons of other clubs!
Food and Dining the university offers a wide variety of dining plans which are very flexible based on your needs. in addition, the cafeteria has some pretty great food in a wide variety of areas (salad bar, a grill, international section, sandwiches, vegetarian, and classics to name a few). spartan club also offers la havana (which has delicious cuban food), a chick-fil-a, fresh creations (a really great salad and wrap place which makes it the way you want it!), an einstein's bagels, and a grill. the other food court is located in stadium center which has a green grocery with a sushi bar, a pandini's, panache (which serves classy lunches!), a barbecue joint, a dairy queen/orange julius, a coffee shop, and a really great burrito place. the university of tampa offers such a wide variety of options, it is really easy to find something that will satisfy any cravings. plus, meal plans come with spartan dollars, which are flexible dollars which can be used to purchase ice cream, and other foods!
Dorm Life i personally love the dorms here. the dormitories on campus are very nice, there is a cleaning staff that cleans the bathrooms, and dorms are centrally located on campus.the ras (resident advisers) are usually very friendly, and they throw many fun events throughout each semester. games, music, free food and freebies -- what is there not to like?
Academic Rigor the university of tampa offers a wide variety of honors courses for students who would like a more academically challenging environment. courses do typically require study time, and a lot of effort, but with the academic aid programs ut has to offer, no student should be struggling to much!
Tips for prospective students 1)don't be afraid to check out the many clubs ut has to offer. there is an organization fair held at the beginning of each semester which allows you to talk to members firsthand. 2)take advantage of the saunder's writing center, or other academic aid programs. they are all free to use, and are easy to set up appointments with! 3)student productions, team chaos, the residence association, and other groups are constantly throwing fun events. take advantage of them. they are free, fun and a great way to meet new people.
In three sentences the university of tampa has a small but beautiful and convenient campus located in the heart of tampa. the small class sizes and wide variety of activities and clubs available to students make it very easy to get to know other students. in addition to great academic programs, ut also creates wonderful events for students to relax and enjoy everything the university has to offer.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students I think the University of Tampa is great for anybody! The classes are small, so make sure you are willing to be known by your professors. This school is made to fit more than one type of student; I think anyone who is a hard worker is a perfect fit for UT.
Tips for prospective students Get involved as much as possible! Every extra connection you have makes a difference while you are at UT!
Bang for the buck The university is quite a pretty penny, but worth every cent of it! I wouldn't wish to spend my money any other way. The residence halls to the classrooms, the tuition money is spent well!
Am enjoying being here I have enjoyed every moment of being at the University of Tampa. There are over 150 clubs you can join to stay active on campus, something for everyone!
Am learning a lot I'm sure you have heard this before, but this University only hires professors that truly care about the student's progress. Because of this, I have learned more than I ever have. Every professor takes the time to get to know each individual student (due to the small class sizes!) which encourages active engagement in the classroom.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This school is great for students who both love a social and academic life. Not the greatest school for people who love athletics.
Tips for prospective students Always make sure to have a couple of hundred dollars in your bank account for whatever the school might demand of you out of the blue. Take your studies well and do not go partying every Thursday.
Bang for the buck University of Tampa is a private school, so thus more expensive. I believe the school is over expensive and the students do get placed into hard situations because the school demands students to pay on very little notice.
Am enjoying being here The school has a great atmosphere that I love. Most of the people are very relaxed people. The school work and the money problems and deadlines do stress students out to an extreme.
Am learning a lot It depends on the teacher, but almost all of my teachers are very adequate at teaching the materials that I need to learn in the class. They also do not believe in just using a textbook, but actually make their classes do interactive assignments where students must go out in the campus or out into the city.

Categories Comments What to do for fun your in the middle of downtown tampa! there is plenty to do! there are also many activities to do on campus.
Food and Dining they have several different food options including chickfila!
Academic Rigor it seems to have a very rigorous business and nursing programs. as well as great programs in art and entertainment.
Tips for prospective students scholarships, scholarships, and what? yes, scholarships! apply early and thoroughly.
In three sentences ut is a diverse school, but yet it is easy to fit in with your fellow classmates. it provides basically any academic program you would ever wish to major in. the college is set in beautiful downtown tampa.

Bang for the buck It is pretty expensive, but remember--it is a private school. There are a lot of financial aid opportunities including scholarships and grants.
Am enjoying being here Love it! There is always a lot to do on and around campus. The campus is gorgeous, and the beach is just a short 30 minute drive away.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students UT is great for people who are willing to put in the work necessary with such a small student-teacher ratio. The medium-sized campus is perfect for those who want to be able to walk to every class.
Tips for prospective students It is very easy to find your niche at UT. There are plenty of ways to make friends such as clubs, sports, and events.
Bang for the buck UT is expensive as it's a private school, but there is financial aid available.
Am enjoying being here I love living in Tampa. Downtown is within walking distance, and Bayshore is a great place for a walk or bike ride. I quickly made friends and memories I won't soon forget.
Am learning a lot The professors are very knowledgeable, and many have actual experience in their fields.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Great for students who want to focus on academics. College is not all about partying and freedom :)
Tips for prospective students Campus visits are a must. Attending the open house will give you that extra satisfaction about a specific topic.
Bang for the buck Yes, its expensive but the education is well worth it. They provide you a scholarship based on SAT ACT scores and there are plenty of scholarship opportunities to grasp.
Will enjoy being here Downtown Tampa is one great environment. Nightlife with plenty entertainment is at its height. Also the campus itself is fun and everything is basically centrally located.
Will learn a lot The small environment will allow for you to mesh into your classes and really get the learning feel . Student teacher ratios are very good and the one on one study time is good too.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This university is great for kids who like a more one on one learning experience and like to get to know a variety of different people from a variety of different places, we have over 1000 international students! If you don't wanna take a twenty minute walk to your classes, get to know a lot of people, and have your teacher know who you are The University of Tampa is right for you!
Tips for prospective students Be prepared classes here aren't easy but you'll actually learn A LOT! Make sure you are working really hard in high school too because being a private college not many kids get in. Get good grades and be involved.
Bang for the buck Yes it is pricey but the school offers more grants and scholarships than any other school I applied to. When it came down to it I ended up paying about the same price for a better more personal education on a smaller campus.
Am enjoying being here I have a great time on campus. I live in one of the smallest dorms, it only has two floors and maybe 100 people, so i know everyone on my floor. We constantly go out and hangout together. It's never a dull moment. The school also has tons of programs and clubs to get involved in. We even have a club that shows movies almost every Friday!
Am learning a lot It's a private school so I don't have a single class with more than 30 people in it and all my teachers actually know my name. It makes learning so much easier because when you need help you professor is there and knows you instead of seeing you as just another nameless faceless student. There is also so many classes to take so you can pretty much learn anything you want and they'll probably offer a tutor for it too.

Categories Comments What to do for fun since i am at one of the hotels that the university has rented out i am grateful to be in downtown tampa. i love just walking out of the lobby into the bustle of the tampa life. i really enjoy walking down the streets and seeing where it leads me.
Food and Dining there are three places on campus that the university of tampa offers for its students. at times it can get old and boring, but that is why there is the cafeteria where options constantly change.
Dorm Life due to the overflow of students i have had the luxury of spending my time here at the university of tampa in hotels. although the shuttle schedule can be annoying to go through i believe it is worth it for the queen sized beds.
Academic Rigor the university of tampa makes sure that students builds their knowledge for the future. some of the course load can be very overwhelming, but the staff is there to make sure that you get through it.
Tips for prospective students students should get involved in as much as they can from the beginning. this helps build their resume and make them marketable for when they start searching for a career. starting now helps build references and future employers.
In three sentences the university of tampa is a great liberal arts school, with professors that will help you find your path. it offers great resources for its students in all aspects of study. ut is constantly growing and you get to meet people from all over the world, which helps students network with people from different places.

Categories Comments Campus Safety ut is really tight on security and making sure that students are safe. they send us e-mails about things that have happened, just so that we can be aware of what's going on.
Greek Life we do have a greek life. the only draw back is that since we are a small campus the students in a greek life do not stay in the same building. we don't have a specific place for the greek's to have their own dorm.
Clubs and Activities we are not lacking in clubs and activites at all. just go to ut.edu and just see all that we offer
Great for these types of students all types of students. ut offers alot of scholarships for the students also.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus gasparilla!!!!!!!!
Bang for the buck downtown!!! and ybor city!!!!!
What to do for fun 2 words: downtown tampa. there really is not a limit on what you can do for fun. there is the nightlife scene, which is really popular with some of the students. since i'm not really a party and drink kind of gal, i'm not the one that can tell you all the hot spots on that. i know that close by are beaches, ybor city, international mall. fun things that i've done was bike or walk around the city. there's a shooting range nearby. canoeing, kayaking, and fishing are some of the things you can do on the river. there's just so much, i'd take you all 4 years to do it all!
Food and Dining in all honesty, after a couple of months you will get sick of the food. so make sure that you get a food plan that does not tie you to the school. since it is downtown tampa you will always find somewhere different to eat. so make sure you have some extra money on the side so that when you get sick of campus food you can eat elsewhere.
Dorm Life the university of tampa has a great dorm life. that is how you get to know other people on campus. most students leave their doors open so that they can get to know their neighbors and it works out pretty well. now be aware that because it is a college there is still drinking going on in some dorms. just stay aware of it, because if your dorm advisers sees that happening and you are underage, they call security and that's when fines and arrests happen.
Academic Rigor the academics is what they focus on, so it is rigorous! the trick is to always stay ahead. before your classes start get the books and review. as the classes continue make sure to always stay ahead. in that way you'll get an a or b in the classes, but still have a social life.
Tips for prospective students if you are interested in the campus, i would advise you to visit the school in the spring. also visit the professors that coincide with your major, so that you can an idea of who you would see for the next 4 years. also explore the surrounding area, so that you would see what it is like off-campus.
In three sentences a private college that focuses on the students. they are not sports centered, but have a lacrosse team. historical buildings decorate the school.

Greek Life Greek Life seems like a lot of fun here, tons of spirit for every frat & sorority.
Clubs and Activities Greek life is huge and each student every week gets a global email with lists of upcoming events with all the information you need to know.
Great for these types of students People who have lots of energy, definitely an up beat school.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Plant Hall is pretty cool-an old hotel that is supposedly haunted.
Bang for the buck It's a little pricey, but I'd say if you can afford it, definitely come here. Always something to do.
What to do for fun It's Tampa! There's Ybor city, Hyde Park, Clearwater, Davis Island, and plenty more to do.
Food and Dining Food's good, lots of different places to choose from.
Dorm Life Dorms are great, you can always switch around if you don't like it.
Academic Rigor Teachers are great, push you to work hard and help you in tons of ways.
Tips for prospective students For good housing, make sure to get your housing deposit in as soon as possible!

Categories Comments Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Plant park (Party in the park which is the spring concert), Dance Happening, Relay for Life, Orientation trip to Busch Gardens
Bang for the buck The school is a little expensive, and the school claims they are poor. Sometimes the money is spent on stupid stuff that is unneeded, but I believe what I am getting out of te school is well worth it!
What to do for fun There's lots for night life, also there is Busch Gardens, Lowry Park Zoo, and the aquarium. Beaches are about 30 minutes away and Orlando is a little over and hour away. There is also two malls close by!
Food and Dining The caf has its good and bad days, I am sometimes surprised how good the food can be. There is also stadium were you can do meal eexchanges for many great choices; burritos, pasta, sushi, et.
Dorm Life The dorms are pretty good except really for Mckay. But, the school keeps accepting way more students than they have room for so some students are put in a hotel off campus but there is a shuttle to get to and from campus. A new dorm is underway and should be up in 2013.
Academic Rigor So far I have been challenged in a good way in all my classes, and all my professors have been helpful!
Tips for prospective students It is a bit of a party school but it is also a good school that is working hard on getting itself back on top!
In three sentences I LOVE this school, professor's are helpful, there's lots to do, beautiful campus, and the school can connect you to many different professions for all!

Dorm life will help you get to know many people though, I have lived on another campus before. UT has many dormitories available and many students like you and I that can meet one another and even help each other along the way.
Academic Rigor I have yet to attend college but, i have reviewed what i need to complete for my major and minor and i believe it will be fun, challenging and helpful to my future. UT also has many internship opportunities, study abroad and other activities t help move you forward.
Tips for prospective students I would greatly recommend a visit to campus, contacting your designated counselor and looking for a sport, club sport, club or activity of interest to you to help you get to know people on campus. I would also recommend exploring options in your major and minor for careers, always make an attempt to get to know the counselors, advisors and administrators at your school.
In three sentences I have been to the campus a handful of time for a visit, it is a beautiful campus with much to offer students. There are many athletics, activities and clubs as well as a fantastic surrounding area for off campus activities. Food and Dining UT has appx .15 restaurants on campus (including the cafeteria) to cater to everyone's needs.
Dorm Life The dorm experience is awesome. Our dorms are very clean and there is plenty of living space. Residence Life tries their absolute best to place freshman in rooms with people who are compatable.
Academic Rigor We are not as aggressive as a college like Harvard or Spelman, but All students must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
Tips for prospective students If planning to attend UT, be prepared to be an aggressive student. Do not be afraid to voice your opinion and get comfortable with your professors.
In three sentences UT is a very small but family oriented school. Due to our small population, classes are much more intimate and our school has the perfect learning environment. We are located in the downtown Tampa are, which is rather convenient for our students.

Greek Life Not everybody is involved in greek life, it doesn't over-rule the campus which I love.
Bang for the buck Very expensive, but great quality.
What to do for fun City is right across the river, beaches near by, plenty of things to do.
Food and Dining Always a lot of options to choose from and good quality food.
Dorm Life Great dorms. Love the suite styled bathrooms. Great quality.
Academic Rigor It depends on your intended major. Science majors, and business majors are definitely academically challenging.
Tips for prospective students If you don't live in Florida, make sure you are really ready to be far away from home.

Categories Comments Campus Safety We are safe. That being said, UT security has an air of entitlement to it that is undeserved. Incidents of happened, of course, but I'm not scared to walk from my dorm to a gas station for snacks.
Greek Life The parties are fun. The people can be hit or miss.
Clubs and Activities UT specific clubs are pretty fun. I've been involved in a couple but choose not to now only because I don't get as much out of it as I've grown and learned more over the years.
Great for these types of students To be blunt, this place is especially great for people who love Fraternity's or Sorority's. In the school's defense, though, I do not partake in Greek life and I have befriended genuine and talented people who do.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Gasparilla. Every year in January the city of Tampa shuts down its main roads for what is essentially a pirate-themed Mardi Gras. The residence assistants will cook breakfast for each student in their hall and the students start drinking as early as 7am. Then we walk around the city watching the parade and seeing thousands of people. Best time of my life.
Bang for the buck This school is a ton of money. That said I don't think I could've gone any place else in the country in terms of the skills and life lessons I've learned.
What to do for fun The night life in Tampa is one of the best in the country. On any given night there is a place to go. On Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays I've had the most fun. The weekend starts on Thursday here at UT. New spots are constantly being promoted to the school.
Food and Dining The cafeteria is not the place to go. Most of the time a meal will sound good but not taste good. The other places on campus however; Salsa Rico (Mexican) or Pandinis (Italian) serve quality food that only gets boring because I eat it almost every day.
Dorm Life I don't usually go to residence hall activities or meetings but the dorm life itself is quite good. My room is just big enough to be comfortable and the apartment style suite is great for having friends over and relaxing.
Academic Rigor It's pretty easy to spot the students that don't care about their grades. That being said, UT is a great place to find people who also let their work speak for them and who know that a GPA doesn't necessarily make or break a person.
Tips for prospective students -Get to know your professor's on a closer level, it makes it easier to pay attention in class. -When picking courses keep in mind that while 8am classes suck, going to class when your friends are winding down and relaxing also sucks. -Don't walk to or from any of the clubs/bars. -If you smoke, don't do it in Plant Park
In three sentences The University of Tampa is a bastion of creative freedom and intellectual guidance. As a student I find myself immersed in a community more than a school and take pride in that. The city of Tampa's energy can be felt at all times of the day (and night).

Bang for the buck If your considering going to school here at Everest they have dropped their prices.
What to do for fun Things for fun, get to go to the beach
Food and Dining The areas around the school is great places, and your able to enjoy and do work.
Dorm Life I don't live on dorm.It feels more comfortable being of campus.
Academic Rigor The scores are pretty low but if you stick with it you can do it.
Tips for prospective students Consider, Everest University for your academic schooling they just don't care about you entering in their school but, because they want you to stay and afford it they have figured and came up with combining numbers of classes to lower cost.
In three sentences The University of Everest is a great college for the simply, they care about not just getting you in enrolled but, also keeping you enrolled and everyone tries to help you stay on top of your academic scoring, such as have online help 24hours, the teachers have concern and want to see you succeed so the do whatever they need to do so that you don't feel like your a failure.

Food and Dining Two words-Salsa Rico. They have the best burritos and the chips are are made right there.
Dorm Life Most of the dorms on campus are less than ten years old, which means they have plenty of room and are nice to live in.
Academic Rigor As with anything, the academics rigor depends on your degree and the professors you choose to take. It is up to you to make the most out of your time here. UT has good ROTC, nursing and business programs.
Tips for prospective students Tour the school and make sure you like the campus setting. There is no football team here, but plenty of opportunities in other sports.

Great for these types of students northerners, people who love the sun and florida
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus gasparilla is a yearly pirate fest downtown that is tons of fun but cops are strict. the rathskeller on campus has awesome sandwiches but you have to use spartan dollars instead of meals.
What to do for fun there are plenty of school clubs, frats and sororities to join. parties are common first semester but not really second. the clubs downtown are good and there are fun things to do in Tampa a lot.
Food and Dining food is good but can get repetitive in choices. always good to eat off campus every once in awhile.
Dorm Life dorms are really nice and friendly. great job is done on order to get people to know each other and become friendly. if you're in McKay the building is older and floods so be ready. if your in hojo get ready for freshman fun and housekeeping and huge beds
Academic Rigor depends on your classes. I am a science major and there is asked a lot from us. just don't overwork yourself but also buckle down.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you like a small school feel and are comfortable with people from up north. Also if from out of state make sure you will like Tampa first. Beach isn't as close as you think and school is a bit pricey but worth it.
In three sentences Very beautiful campus with a small community feel. Many northerners attend this school and there is a heavy party aspect. Placed in a great city that's not to busy or dead.

Food and Dining The food is actually pretty good compared to other campus dining.
Dorm Life Pretty awesome, unless you become friends with your destructive roommate.
Academic Rigor Most professors are great and loved to teach. They want to further your education and look out for you. The class sizes are small and nice too.
Tips for prospective students If you don't get along with you roommate request for a new one. Also, don't become friends with them and go out with them.
In three sentences Attending the University of Tampa was a big change for me because I was so far from home. It's a beautiful school, and although a lot of beautiful people that attend its walls, their are many that go the extra mile in the classroom. Don't let the stereotype of going to school in Florida fool you, going here can also be a challenge academically.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is security everywhere but I wouldn't say they are great. They are there when you really really need them. Not so much for everything else.
Greek Life People say that there is not many people in Greek life, but I have had many friends who pledged in the past year. Not everyone is in a frat or sorority so you wont feel out of place if you are not in one.
Clubs and Activities There are many different types of clubs. It is very hard to find out about them besides freshman year orientation.
Great for these types of students It is great for people who are very outgoing, or are trying to get out of their shell. There are many different types of personalities at University of Tampa, so it is easy to make friends. If you don't want to make friends and are just going to go to school, it would not be entirely worth it.
Bang for the buck I would say it is worth the money if you can afford it. It is not worth the money if you only go to the school to party.
What to do for fun Most people go out on campus on the weekends. There are many bars and clubs around Tampa. There are also campus events almost every weekday. There were only a few times their was nothing I actually wanted to do.
Food and Dining The food is pretty good compared to other schools and there are many options. You can get a little tired of it by the end of each semester, but that is probably the same at any school.
Dorm Life I was put in one of the worst dorms and it was the best experience. It was still suite style (with your own bathroom shared with another room). The dorms are very nice compared to other school. It really depends on who lives in your hall when it comes to loving dorm life.
Academic Rigor As for science majors the classes can be very challenging and require a lot of studying. The professors are very good, I have only had one not so good one. The school is also very good if you are a business, economics, or any major of that sort. For other majors I would not recommend going here because the school does not put as much focus on them. Majority of people are in the Sykes College of Business or a science major.
Tips for prospective students If you go to this school, don't get distracted by the social life, that is how people get kicked out. Work hard first, then play hard. Do well on your ACT and/or SAT, the school will give good scholarships just based on this.
In three sentences For a science major, this school can be academically challenging. If you want to work hard in school and not party harder than this is a great school for you. This school is great for outgoing people.

Great for these types of students This university is good for those who really wish to be successful. If you are just going to college because it is the next step in your life, please don't take a seat away from a person who really wants to be there.
Bang for the buck It is a private university, so the cost is more. However the attention you receive from the staff is worth the money.
What to do for fun The campus activities will keep you busy, as a resident or as a commuter. But there are also so many things to do in Tampa.
Food and Dining Too many food choices and the prices are good.
Dorm Life I am a commuter but the campus is beautiful.
Academic Rigor The grading scale is high, 93 is an A. But the staff really helps you achieve your academic goals.
Tips for prospective students Small classes are the way to go, also I would not trade a private university for anything.
In three sentences I love studying at UT, the campus is beautiful. Small classes and one on one student teacher time helps with understanding difficult subjects. The staff is really understanding with a life school balance, I am an adult student who also works full time.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I always feel safe on campus. Even during the RNC, when a lot of shady individuals were lurking around near campus, I never felt like I was in any danger on campus.
Clubs and Activities Huge list of activities, especially if you're an athlete. The list is significantly smaller if you are not.
Great for these types of students People who enjoy playing volley ball shirtless until the wee hours of the night.
Bang for the buck It's inexpensive and I'm getting a good education.
What to do for fun Join a club. Unless you plan on going out all the time, find some like-minded individuals and just chill out in a place where you feel comfortable. Watching TV in a dorm, chatting in the Vaugn Center, you don't need to be going to some party to have fun.
Food and Dining Food is great. The pizza is a little bland, but otherwise I've enjoyed every meal.
Dorm Life The internet connection in every dorm is pathetic at best. While rooms are relatively spacious, the furniture seems poorly constructed, and in rooms that open up to the outside, you can't leave your door open for more than a few seconds without insects trying to rush in.
Academic Rigor Despite what may go on after class or on the weekends, during school hours these people work hard, always ready to learn.
Tips for prospective students Find clubs. Join the newspaper. If you're into going out every night, you'll be at home, but if you're more refined and want to take it easy you'll need to go far out of your way to find some friends. Keep your chin up, there are people out there. In class, be sure you stay on top of things; as with any University, the work can catch up with you fast and completely consume you if you don't keep it under control.
In three sentences A strong sense of community with an athletic mindset and a gorgeous campus, the University of Tampa is a great place for freshman to get a sense of belonging-- that is, if you're a chiseled-jaw adonis. With a penchant for partying, the students don't seem to offer much acceptance for the thick-glass-wearing, round faced, video game loving geeks. Still, people get down to business in class, and the atmosphere is rather scholarly during school hours.

Dorm Life Nice dorm sizes, and beautiful window sights.
Academic Rigor It's hard, only if you procrastinate. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE!
Tips for prospective students Walk around campus at night, it's a beautiful sight.
In three sentences UT's campus has the familiarity of a city for the wonderful fact that it's location is planted directly downtown. The college also has amazing teachers in which allow you to have student-teacher interaction, meaning you're not just another face in the crowd because they actually put the effort in knowing your name. Dorm Life I do not live in the dorms so I don't know!
Academic Rigor The science curriculum is difficult, but as long as you have the motivation there are resources to help you succeed.

They are the first response and will call the on campus security if the need arises, not to mention the fact that campus safety is well staffed and out on rounds ensuring the safety of the all the students.
Greek Life The Greek Life at UT is very diverse. It offers a selection of IFC, NPHC, PC and MGC councils with unique organizations. The theme of UT is Greek Unity and these organizations do well by living up to the standards set forth by UT and by socializing with other organizations. It is a great opportunity for any student to be more involved and meet other people with the same ideals.
Clubs and Activities UT has many clubs and campus events throughout the year that make it so easy to be involved! One can never go a day without seeing someone they know from an event or doing something new and interested by signing up at the Vaughn center, the social hub of UT.

The population is very diverse and offers many groups of people with which to become a part of and create lasting friendships and bonds.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The University of Tampa has its own Plant Park. A very relaxing park full of palm trees and a great view of downtown right across the Hillsborough river. Everything about UT is rather scenic and makes a great learning environment.
Bang for the buck The tuition is a bit high but it is understandable for a private university of this caliber regarding education. They have many financial aid opportunities and are willing to work with students to make sure that college is a possibility for anyone that wants to succeed.
What to do for fun The University of Tampa is conveniently located in Downtown Tampa with many places to go to during the day like the beaches 15 minutes away, downtown scenery or one can always be involved in the many campus events. The night life offers a great variety of locations that anyone can have fun at.
Food and Dining The dining services have a large selection of very diverse food for any kind of student. Their staff are friendly and the quality of the food makes having a meal plan such a great option!
Dorm Life ResLife and the UT community are actively planning events and making sure that they are engaging the needs of their residents. Choosing to live on campus is a great choice for those that like a sense of community and safety.
Academic Rigor The professors know how to teach and are actively looking for ways to challenge the young minds of all the scholars that decide to attend. This provides real world application of the skill developed in class.
Tips for prospective students Look into what interests you best and see if the University of Tampa is the best match for you. They do offer a large selection of undergraduate programs that will make sure you get the best education out there.

Categories Comments What to do for fun If you are in to partying, then their are multiple clubs in Ybor that students enjoy attending on nights out. If you are in to watching films or shopping there are three shopping malls within 20 minutes of school and many movie theaters. Busch Gardens is also in Tampa, and Orlando is only about 1 and 1/2 hours away where Disney World, Sea World, and Universal are at.
Food and Dining The food is normal cafe food. There is not many vegetarian or healthy choices, however. When it comes to healthy it's pretty much a salad or vegetables cooked till they are extremely soft. After a while the food gets kind of repetitive.
Dorm Life Dorm Life is not the best in the world if you are not into partying and drinking. The RA's hold hall activities for the rooms they are in charge of and they tend to be enjoyable, but do not last very long. The rooms are a decent size, but it just depends on where you are assigned to live.
Academic Rigor The University of Tampa has an odd grading scale compared to other universities. In short it is roughly: A AB B BC C CD F. It can change depending on your professor. Most of the class you actually have to go to class and do your work to pass. A lot of papers are assigned, so be warned you will have to try to do well.
Tips for prospective students Take a tour of the school and ask questions. Most of the students here are from up north, so it feels like a northern university with Florida's sunny weather. If you decide to attend, make sure you carry an umbrella everywhere you go because it tends to randomly rain.
In three sentences The University of Tampa's campus is extremely beautiful and the professors really know their stuff. The university's president, however, tends to care more about aesthetics than academics. Their are so many organizations one could join, so it will be hard to be bored unless you refuse to actually go to student events.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Within your first week at the University of Tampa, you will get a number to campus safety so if at any point you are on campus late at night and need a ride back to your down you can easily call campus safety and within minutes they will pick you up and take you where you need to go.
Bang for the buck The University of Tampa is an expensive school, in order to get your moneys worth I cannot stress enough the importance of getting involved in all they have to offer and take your academics seriously, there will always be time to go out into the social life, save it for the weekends.
What to do for fun There is always something being held on campus that gets the students involved. Even off campus you will find that nearby places such as Ybor city and Channelside are great places to check out for the nightlife scene.
Food and Dining There are a variety of places for students to dine on campus, from the cafeteria to coffee shops, salad bars, burgers and fries and more!
Dorm Life There are a variety of Dorm's that you are able to live in, such as a single, double or triple. Dorm rooms are standard and if you are not happy with a roommate or living situation Tampa makes it easy for you to change your housing situation.
Academic Rigor Academics at this school are not impossible, they just require your time and effort. Don't put your coursework second to your social life, you will quickly find yourself behind in classes. As long as you go to class and complete the coursework at the set time, there is no reason you can't do well. The classes are the perfect size so that you can get individual attention from teachers. They are very accessible through email and are more then willing to help you in any class. If you feel that you need additional help, the ACE center is a great way to get one on one attention for a specific class.
Tips for prospective students Three of the most important tips I can give for prospective students are as followed. First of all, as with any college its easy to get carried away with partying and going out. Think of college like a full time job and dedicate Monday through Friday to school, and only school. Leave weekends for going out. It will save you money and more importantly your GPA. Secondly, college is all about time management. As with any University, the workload can get overwhelming. Develop time management skills, don't leave your coursework for last minute, it will only stress you out. And the last, most important tip I would suggest is to get involved on campus. There are many different organizations, clubs, volunteer work and sports you can get involved with. Not only is this a great way to meet new people but it helps you get more involved in the community and looks great on your resume. Take advantage of what the University of Tampa has to offer!
In three sentences As with any college experience, what you put into it, is what you will get out of it. The University of Tampa offers a wide variety of opportunities for their students. It's easy to find your niche here, whether you want to join a sports team, sorority, fraternity, volunteer services, the Minaret newspaper or even start your own club, the school and students make it easy and comfortable for you to do so. Within one year I was already learning more about myself then ever before, the experiences they offer should definitely be taken advantage of everyone is friendly and there to help you which makes it easy to get involved on and off of campus.

Food and Dining The food is average, but the cafeteria was just completely revamped and is delicious.
Dorm Life The dorms provided on campus are extremely nice and clean, and provide weekly bathroom cleaning services.

Tips for prospective students It is important to visit the school and see the campus before making your decision.
In three sentences The University of Tampa is a great school. It offers plenty of educational opportunities while providing a diverse campus experience. The campus has a small school community feeling to it.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Really safe. If you get too drunk somewhere on campus, from midnight till 6 in the moring campus security will pick you up.
Greek Life Amazing! It's a great way to get involved and meet new people. Slightly time consuming but hanging with your sisters and bonding is enjoyable.
Clubs and Activities There are plenty of things to do you just have to know where to look for them. small downfall, the school focuses more involvment in the fall term rather than the spring term.
Great for these types of students If your a social person UT is for you. The campus is small enough where it's eay to get to know a lot of faces. Yet, there are still a lot of faces that are unknown when you look around.
What to do for fun GO TO YBOR or the POOL. If you just want to relax have a picnic by the river in plant park. If your feeling adventurous take a walk in downtown.
Food and Dining there could be more options. catching the caf at inbetween meals sucks. the food isn't that bad and there are other places near by if you want something different.
Dorm Life if your living with friends it's pretty chill. the older dorms like mckay and smiley are gross and have a hospital like feeling to them and are very small. there are better rooms in some resident hall than others, so it's luck if you get a nice room.
Academic Rigor if you have a tough major expect a hevy work load. the library is always there so don't be afraid to use it.
Tips for prospective students Don't waste your money if you don't have it. UT is a great secong home and i'm proud to call it that. Get involved experience all things.

Great for these types of students Goal-oriented, ambitious, hard-working, determined students thrive here without getting too far sucked into the idea that it is a party school. It can be, but it is mostly on academics, in my opinion.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus safety is awesome! Not to long ago, I was in class and also passed out due to dehydration and I went to go to my dorm and get my car keys so I can drive to Tampa General Hospital. Well I couldn't walk back to my car because I was dizzy, so I called the campus security office and within less than five minutes they were here to take me to the parking garage and even offered to take me to the hospital. Since UT is also five minutes from TGH they work well with the school.
Clubs and Activities I'm not in many organizations, but when I get the chance to I help out with the P.E.A.C.E volunteer center. They help the Tampa Bay area out within the community. It's very well organized and the staff and team leaders are very friendly and helpful.

Food and Dining The food at the Cafe is not so bad, but we have other options to choose from. The Spartans club has chick-fil-a and a grill. One of the other buildings has all kinds of food choices to choose from such as, Diary Queen, pizza, hispanic food, or something from the bakery.
Dorm Life I love it here where I'm staying, which is the Mckay Hall. It's like we are a small family and the stype is like an apartment which I love. Also, behind the Mckay Hall is the hillsborough river, which is relaxing when you have to do your homework on a nice sunny day!
Academic Rigor The professors really get into what their teaching about and it makes the class a lot more fun. Also, they are willing to help you one on one if you have any questions.
Tips for prospective students The classes are challenging, but the professors love what they're doing so the classes are upbeat and exciting.
