Categories Comments Am learning a lot UTM is a fantastic school. The teachers are great and the students are friendly. I would suggest this school to everyone. If you are looking for a school with great academics and a huge variety of things to join you should definately try UTM! There is only one bad thing about going to UTM - having nowhere to shop but Walmart. But over all I'm really enjoying being a student here.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Honestly, UTM could be a good match for any number of students. It's good for those who would like to stay local, or those from other areas who would like an escape to a friendly, relaxing rural area. However, there is still plenty to do for the student who prefers an active life, and there are opportunities to study abroad as well.
Tips for prospective students You should definitely come to one of the preview days that UTM holds. These give you a chance to meet many of the administration and professors in your desired major (more than likely, one of these will be your advisor), tour the beautiful campus, and check out the housing opportunities first hand. Also, don't be afraid to talk to the people in admissions and financial aid more than once; it could pay off. My first semester here, I received an extra $1500 that allowed me to take summer classes as well.
Bang for the buck UT Martin is a very affordable school to attend and well worth your money. I went to high school in Kentucky, but because I was from a county that UTM has an agreement with, I still received in-state tuition. Though I did not receive any scholarships when I transferred, I have been able to use only Federal financial aid to pay for my tuition, books, etc; no need to take out outside loans, and I should come out of school with less than $30K of student loan debt. This is surprisingly low for someone who must finance all of their education with loan money; you can receive a quality education at UT Martin while paying less than you might for a new car.
Am enjoying being here I certainly enjoy attending the University of Tennessee at Martin. Speaking from the perspective of someone who did attend another college during my first semester, I feel that it is infinitely better than other similarly sized colleges in this area. All of the administration here are very polite and want to get things done right, not just quick, for their students (not the case at the other college I attended). Here, I can be close to all my family -- the farthest being a forty minute drive away -- and friends, while still retaining my privacy and independence. I chose to live off campus and commute, but if you're not into the dorm scene and don't want to commute either, there are some very nice apartments on campus in the University Village.
Am learning a lot So far, I feel that I have learned a lot in my classes at UT Martin. With the exception of one advanced math class, I have been able to excel and greatly increase my knowledge -- even in those mandatory classes that no one wants to have to take -- in all areas. All my professors were more than willing to help any struggling student before or after class, during office hours, or by appointment, and there are also labs and tutoring services freely available to those who need them. It seems that the professors here actually enjoy their jobs and try their best to give you the most beneficial learning environment possible.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students The University of Tennessee at Martin is a wonderful learning environment and a great place for an breathtaking college experience. UTM is in a small town, but there is more to do than just study and hang out with friends. UT Martin is a very good and non-violence school to attend. I recommend everyone of my friends to pick UTM.
Tips for prospective students For most of you who may want to come to UTM, I recommend that you be prepared for the freedom that may come with going out on your own. You must be prepared to go to class every time because attendance is crucial as well as making time to study; save your money at every available opportunity, having fun with friends doesn't need to be expensive
Bang for the buck The tuition at Martin is affordable. The dorms and meal plans they provide are also no expensive. For in-state residents, the Tennessee Lottery/ Hope Scholarship pay for about half of the tuition costs. It is suggested that each student invests in getting a meal plan because one truly save when it comes to money and getting a wide variety of very good food without having to go out to fast food or buying groceries.
Am enjoying being here Martin's campus gives students the opportunity to meet others from all over the world, from different backgrounds, as well as different friends from close areas. The faculty makes the learning experience bearable here. There is an extensive list of organizations, sororities and fraternities, and all kinds of campus recreational activities that students can participate in.
Am learning a lot The University has wonderful and exotic classes with professors who are knowledgeable in their particular skill. The faculty is available almost anytime of the day for additional help. The class sizes are smaller at Martin than at other. However, even though Martin is a smaller school, the education a student may receive is not nay lower than other colleges.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students The university accepts most students with proficient ACT scores. There are classes that yield to any degree of mastery and so one should be able to find their place quite easily. There are lots of opportunities for honors students, both with the Honors Program at Martin and the University Scholars program. These organizations are challenging, insightful, and absolutely a joy to be a part of. We have students from almost every country attend UT Martin. Whatever your background or academic achievement, if you work hard and are willing to try new things, Martin is the place for you.
Tips for prospective students If you are attending Martin for the first time, as the saying goes, do not judge a book by its cover. Though a small campus, Martin has so much available for any type of student. Go through all the living arrangements to try and find the best style for your needs. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask anyone on campus. The faculty and students generally have a southern hospitality quality and so they will be more than willing to help in any way possible. If you are coming in as a freshman, do not waste your time with the Freshman Initiative or University Studies class. If you have any common sense about being independent and how a university works, you will not need this class. Most of all, have fun, try everything you think sounds interesting, and get involved. There are opportunities for everyone.
Bang for the buck The tuition costs for this university are well worth the experience and education a student will receive. The cafeteria is an all-you-can-eat buffet with a wide variety of food selection, and though not momma's cooking, there is no reason for complaint concerning the quality of the food served. The housing arrangements, whether one chooses to be in the main dormitories or the on-campus apartments, are pricey for the space. However, for the assortment of living spaces, ranging from single rooms to living with seven other people, if one does not live near campus, living on-campus is a good experience.
Am enjoying being here The cultural diversity of Martin's campus grants students the opportunity to meet others from all across the world, from different socio-economic backgrounds, as well as local students from the surrounding areas. The friendly faculty make the learning experience entirely tolerable; here, you are not a number. There is an expansive lists of organizations, sororities and fraternities, community service venues, and on-campus activities to seek membership or attend. Though Martin is out in the middle of nowhere, there is always something going on.
Am learning a lot The University is saturated in wonderful and exotic classes with professors who are well-versed in their particular expertise. More often than not, the faculty are available almost 24/7 for additional help. The class sizes are comparably smaller at Martin than at other universities which allows students a much broader opportunity for exposure to curriculum and one-on-one learning scenarios. However, even though Martin is a smaller school, the education a student receives is not diminished, rather the collegiate experience is enlightened by the academic environment.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students The University of Tennesee at Martin is a wonderful learning environment and an optimal place for an awesome college experience! UTM is in a small town, but there is more to do than watch the grass grow. From student life, to residential life, and to academic life, the opportunities are endless! Now that it's summer, I really cannot wait to get back to good ol' UT Martin!

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students If you are not a student who enjoys a party, don't consider this school. Martin is a very small town with only a small movie theatre and a couple of restaurants. Most students attend frat parties on the weekend. Also, if you live more than three hours away and expect to commute once or twice a month, consider the extra costs. There's the gas to get two and from there, the money to get home and back, and also the time spent driving. I live six hours away from Martin so I only went home once a month. It also cost me about $40 just to go home and see my family. It was hard to find the time to go and I sometimes skipped class on Friday just to go home. However, if you're not thinking about going home while you're at school, then don't worry about it. I really enjoyed UT Martin, but the commute was just too much for me to handle.
Bang for the buck Having the TN HOPE Scholarship really helped with the cost, but even without the scholarship it is very affordable.
Did enjoy being here I loved UT Martin, but being so far away from home made me transfer schools. It wasn't because I didn't like the school, but because my family was so far away from me. I left after only one semester.
Did learn a lot The professors at UT Martin are very knowledgeable. They enjoy what they're teaching and want you to enjoy it too.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students UTM offers so much with organizations, social backgrounds, ethnicity, and opportunities that any one who attends school here is bound to find his or her place to fit in.
Tips for prospective students The best thing to do is go to SOAR when it is offered during the spring and summer. When you are there, pay attention. I know that these sessions can be boring, but they are so informative. And, it is also exciting seeing all the new faces that you will be living near. While at SOAR, do not be afraid to ask questions. If you ask, there is someone else there who has the same question but is scared to ask. Also, I suggest talking to the admissions counselors and financial aid office. You never know where some hidden money might appear to help you pay for school. The SOAR staff is also helpful, and they are students, too. So, they tend to be easier to relate to.
Am enjoying being here Though Martin is a small town, there is hardly ever a dull moment. The Greek like on campus has been the best experience of my life, and I encourage every one to go through recruitment during their first semester. There are also over a hundred other organizations on campus, so if Greek life is not for you, try something else. There are opportunities to volunteer and become involved in many different ways. I have found some of my best friends in Martin.
Am learning a lot With the small class sizes, it is very easy to create a relationship with our professors. I have been able to talk to all of my professors and found that it is best to visit them in office hours. This will show them that you are interested in the class and care about our education. It will also help them get to know you.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students The University of Tennessee at Martin is great for any type of student looking for a great education. Students are able to choose from a variety of majors; however, it's primarily an agricultural school focusing on Agriculture, Animal Sciences, and Wildlife Sciences. Students who are more focused on Communications and Business find that this school has an excellent program as well. Other than that, Martin, Tennessee is a quaint, little town far away from the extravagance of city life and resides in the country. It is the perfect setting for those students who also want a small classroom to teacher ratio.
Tips for prospective students For most of you who may want to come to UTM, I recommend that you be prepared for the freedom that may come with going out on your own. You must be prepared to go to class every time because attendance is crucial as well as making time to study; save your money at every available opportunity, having fun with friends doesn't need to be expensive, (the school has plenty of fun activities and clubs that are inexpensive and fun minus the expenses of a night out on the town); Get involved! Staying in your room all day and not going out and meeting people can turn the college experience into something that is just downright boring and uneventful; and my last piece of advice for prospective students is to have fun but be smart. You will be tempted to do a lot of things, but remember that your main priority is academics (school) and not being on the social scene all the time. Its good to maintain a balance between the two, but remember to be smart about it.
Bang for the buck Even though UT Martin is an excellent school in both academics and activities, tuition is also incredibly affordable as well as room and board (Meal Plans highly reccomended). Tuition here is incredibly affordable and ideal for students who are on a very low budget or want to get away from the distractions of a larger city. For in-state residents, the Tennessee Lottery/ Hope Scholarship pays for roughly half of the tuition costs. It is recommend that each student invests in getting a meal plan because you truly save when it comes to money and getting a wide variety of very good food without having to go out to fast food or buying grocieries.
Am enjoying being here Although UT Martin is not really a large grandiose school such as Vanderbilt, there is still plenty of things to do. Whether you want to become involved in the schools inner workings and activities or just want to hang out without having to spend a lot of money, there are plenty of enjoyable activities here ranging from: Fraternities and Sororities, activities put on by the Student Activities Council or the Residence Life, Student Government Assosiaton, Game Room, media center of the library, and the brand new Recreation Center. All in all UT Martin is a great place, although it may not be much for a person coming from a larger city, it is what you make of it. You will find that getting involved and meeting people make this school worth your while.
Am learning a lot The professors at UTM are highly qualified educators whose sole purpose is to ensure that information is accurately portrayed to each student in a understandable manor. For those whom struggle in certain academic areas professors post office hours which can easily fit in the average students's schedule; also, there are tutors available in the learning labs for those who need extra instruction. For the most part as long as you, the student, put in the effort and continually attend class then you will establish a excellent relationship with your professors and WILL learn a lot.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students If you like small classes, professors that are hands on with their students, small environment and you don't want to walk so far to class come to UTM! You will learn a lot and become more active in different organizations and events.
Am enjoying being here It's a small town which I am use to because I stay in a small town. You will get to know almost everyone on campus. Everybody knows everybody!
Am learning a lot The classes are small so you the professors are more hands on with students. You can concentrate better and not worry about not having much time to communicate with your professor.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck One of the good things about UT Martin is that it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to attend. The tuition, on campus housing, and meal plans are very reasonably priced. I would recommend UT Martin to anyone who wants to get a great education from a 4 year college without spending a fortune.
Am enjoying being here Because I grew up in a small town, I really like the small town feel of UT Martin. The campus offers a lot of extracurricular activities for all students to participate in. Every week there are different sporting events such as football, basketball, and baseball that you can attend. If you want to play on a sports team without being on the school varsity teams, there are also inter murals for all sports, from football to rugby, where teams made up of students play each other. UTM has an annual rodeo as well. There are fraternities and sororities who also have competitions where they do certain skits and routines which is really entertaining. You can also participate in rush week where you meet a lot of new people and have the opportunity to be in one of the sororities or fraternities. There is a recreation center on campus that has all the fitness equipment imaginable, a basketball court, yoga rooms, a track, biking rooms, pool tables and racket ball courts. There are also volley ball courts laid out in several locations around the on campus dorms and apartments. The campus is made up of different buildings that are dedicated to certain subjects. These buildings are laid out in a circle with connecting side walks in between so it is easy to navigate to whatever building your classes are in. The center of the campus circle is full of different types of trees so it is especially beautiful during the fall when all the leaves are changing colors. There is a cafeteria which requires a paid for meal plan and a food court and convenient store. The food court includes a chick-fil-a and a sandwich shop called sandella's. In the library, there is also a coffee shop called Seattle's best. There are plenty of things on campus that can interest many different types of people.
Am learning a lot UT Martin is a wonderful school that offers a wide variety of degrees and opportunities. I am in the nursing program and am getting a great education from the nursing staff. I know that when I graduate I will have a degree and knowledge base that I can be proud of. The professors at UTM really know their material and are almost always willing to do whatever it takes to help you become the best at whatever you are planning to be. The class sizes are small so you get a lot of quality one-on-one time with the professors, and they have a lot of office hours that allow you to meet with them and discuss your work.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This is great for students who like to be able to have one on one time with their teacher, who like a small town atmosphere, and who don't mind diversity.
Tips for prospective students Tour a lot of colleges! Don't just go to one that you've loved since childhood. Also don't go to one that your parents or any one else think is right for you. Make sure it is just right for you. You're the one going, not them!
Bang for the buck My money couldn't have been placed in a better college. I toured 8 other colleges and this one just felt like the right one to me!
Am enjoying being here You would think that there is nothing to do in this small town, but that's wrong! This place has over 100 student organizations and you can quickly find out that something is always going on!
Am learning a lot I have only been a student here since August but my knowledge has definitely expanded. I love my teachers challenging us to think outside of our high school boxes and think like a college student.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students social academic Musically inclined those interested in agriculture- plenty of wonderful country people here!
Tips for prospective students Go to ratemyproffessor.com before choosing any teacher. If there are more than 5 reviews on that teacher, you can most likely trust what the students say. Apply for housing early!!! Apply for as many scholarships you can find. You really have to search for them. Most aren't just handed to you, but they are not hard to find. I like using Fastweb.com.
Bang for the buck This is not an over-priced school. Compared to many other schools, the price is great!
Am enjoying being here The campus life is great. There is always plenty to do.
Am learning a lot The teachers here are really amazing and actually care about students; success. You just have to make sure and research the class before taking it.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Martin is a great school for students looking to get a great education, while not having to go into debt. It's also great for students wanting to get involved in a lot of activities.
Tips for prospective students Tour the campus! Before visiting Martin, I never would have considered going. However, after seeing Martin and experiencing it for myself, I realized there was a lot to Martin that I hadn't heard. It's a great school, and I'm very excited to attend.
Bang for the buck Martin offers a lot of scholarship opportunities. This college is very affordable. It's important to be able to save during college, and Martin recognizes this importance!
Will enjoy being here Martin seems to have hundreds of ways to get involved. From the recreation center to the many campus clubs, a student will never be bored!

Categories Comments Campus Safety UTM has campus police on duty 24/7. It is a very secure campus and you should have nothing to worry about. In case of an emergency, there are light poles with an emergency button that you can push. This will immediately contact the campus police and they should arrive within 5 minutes.
Greek Life I'm not Greek, but would recommend Greek life to anyone!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus You must go to at least one frat party, and don't forget the local bar, Cadillacs! Please drink responsibly!
What to do for fun UTM is known solely for their rodeo team. Each spring semester the rodeo team hosts a rodeo for students to come out and enjoy watching. I highly recommend you do that. It is a blast and is definitely an unforgettable experience. And again, play intramural sports on campus, grab a bite to eat with your best friend or roommate, etc. Just have fun, but do so as you keep your head in the books.
Food and Dining The food at UT Martin is WONDERFUL!!!! We have a Chik-fil-a, a chinese restaurant, a mexican restaurant...Anything you can think of-Martin has it! UTM also offers meal plans for those of you who, like me, hate grocery shopping!!! The service at the cafe is excellent and the prices are affordable, though I recommend limiting yourself to splurging once, maybe twice a week. Eating out everyday will eventually leave you empty-handed.
Dorm Life I moved to UTM, 2 hours away from what I called home. I decided to bring my dog with me and, as most know, universities will NOT allow pets on campus. I chose to live off campus, but anywhere in Martin is only a 10 minute drive on average. Rent and bills added up to be about the same as it would have costed me to stay in a dorm. Although I chose the non-traditional route, I highly reccomend that first-time students stay on campus due to all the daily activites. Staying in a dorm will also slowly push you out of the nest (as my mother would say) instead of throwing you and hoping you don't hit rock bottom. Many students make life-long friends with their roommates as well. That always helps to cope with the distant relationship you might develop with the people back at home.
Academic Rigor UT Martin has very intelligent professors from all over the world. They are great with answering any and all questions you may have about the material being covered. UTM has a website portal called Blackboard. This is what most professors use as their grading book, assignment folder, announcement board, etc. It is a pretty easy program to understand and will become useful when time is limited.
Tips for prospective students 1) Manage your money wisely!!!-- Although Martin only has one place to shop, Walmart, you will easlily find yourself making daily trips. If/When grocery shopping, write down every item and its price before you make it to the check out line. Never go to Walmart without a grocery list! You will come out with more than you intended. Also, go with a budget and DONT exceed it! NO MATTER WHAT! 2) Take advantage of free time, which you wont get often, and mingle across campus with other students. You can always find intramural games to join in and play. 3) When college night comes around, Wednesday night, limit the fun because that 8 a.m. chemistry class comes early! 4) Always be present in each class, unless you are contagiously sick. BE ON TIME! 5) Cell phone policies apply in most of the classes at UTM as they do in high school. Don't use them in class. You pay the instructor to teach you. Let them do their job. Respect people! That text from Billy Joe can wait until after class.
In three sentences UT Martin has great programs for anything from nursing to engineering to agriculture. The university is very diverse in race, but all are treated equal. The main problem facing universities across the world is getting students to mingle, but UTM hosts a variety of games and events in order to allow those students to meet his or her future, life-long friends.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The Campus Security Office is located in the heart of the University which helps students be safe and stay safe.
Greek Life Greek Life at UTM surpasses even bigger universities. Over half of all students go Greek, and even more just go through the experience of rush and get to meet forever friends. UTM also has Greek Week during the spring semester which entails a daily performance by all greek organizations, and it's fun for the whole family to come and see.
Clubs and Activities There are so many to choose from, and they appeal to all walks of life. There's something for everyone at UTM.
Great for these types of students Any Students. UT Martin is very diverse.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a new recreational facility that was just built on campus. It is phenomenal in comparison to most facilities at other smaller campuses. It's definitely worth checking out.
Bang for the buck My education from UT Martin has been well worth the money. I'm receiving a quality education that would cost much more elsewhere. I'm also gaining more of a hands on experience due to the smaller classes.
What to do for fun There are lots of Student Organizations to get involved in. The Greek Life at UTM is exceptional and provides students with a chance to learn leadership and philanthropy. There are also activities prepared for students by students throughout each semester.
Food and Dining The Sodexo Dining at UTM is fantastic. Students can enjoy lots of different foods at different stations that vary each day. There are also healthy alternatives to each meal.
Dorm Life Considering the age of the campus, UTM's dorm life is considerably good. In the past years, they have built new apartments on campus that come completely furnished with lots of adequate space.
Academic Rigor Academics are tough wherever you go, and at UTM the challenge awaits the students who intend to work hard. You definitely get what you pay for, and your academics reflect the work you put into it.
Tips for prospective students Get involved with Student Organizations Get to know faculty & advisors; they will help you find direction with your education. Expand your horizons by taking different courses, UTM has many interesting courses to choose from.
In three sentences UT Martin has almost everything the larger universities have to offer. The only difference is that it's smaller environment gives students the chance to truly work with their professors. UT Martin also has lots of student organizations so that everyone can get involved.

Categories Comments Campus Safety It's one of the best campuses for safety. They just put in new lighting. If you have any problems there is always someone to report to.
Greek Life Plenty of Greek Life to go around.
Clubs and Activities From Martial arts to horse back riding.
Great for these types of students Agriculture
Bang for the buck It really depends on where you spend your money. The Bookstore is really expensive, along with the cafeteria if you do not have a meal plan. The tuition is really cheap.
What to do for fun There is nothing to do in this town, except that we have a small movie theater. If you want to do something more than that then you would have to go to Jackson.
Food and Dining The prices are outrageous. If your not picky than the food is good. Sometimes it has a variety of choices, so you won't get bored on the same old thing.
Dorm Life Dorm Life isn't for everyone, but it's very lively. There are always something that the Resident Advisers are planing for the dorm students.
Tips for prospective students If you plan on coming here, please be mindful of partying. If you do not keep up your GPA they will put you on Academic Suspension.
In three sentences If someone needs help with a certain course there are places, and people that are willing to help out. For the most part, the professors are really helpful and encouraging, but sometime they will ask you to challenge yourself.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The camous is pretty safe. They have campus police patroling every now and then. You have to have a skyhawk card to get into your dorm building and then to get to your floor.
Clubs and Activities There are many clubs here, but they don't really do much because almost everyone is Greek and they have a lot to do already.
Great for these types of students Great for those who want to go Greek and who like to party. Martin is greek and party central. Parties almost every night.
Bang for the buck It's a good price here, but I would rather pay more to get more.
What to do for fun When you take a Chemistry or Biology class here you have no time for fun.
Food and Dining The food court is very nice, but the cafeteria is junky.
Dorm Life The dorms are not that nice. They are small and you can hear everything that goes on in the rooms around you.
Academic Rigor Very high. The Chemistry and Biology Department here is unpassable.
Tips for prospective students Get to know your professors very well.
In three sentences It's a very small campus, so if you are from a small town you might like it. They have a very good Agricultural Department.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Games, like volleyball and basketball, campus organizations and activities.
Food and Dining Good, better than high school food. Cheeseburgers and pizzas, pastas, and a lot of other stuff.
Dorm Life UTM makes dorm life interesting. The dorms compete in energy conservsativeness and games. There are many clubs and activities that go on, like Zombie Tag and Breakfast-For-Dinner in the basement.
Academic Rigor Good teachers and good grading policies.
Tips for prospective students Study! College is nothing like high school, but I will say it is fun when you are responsible, organized, and dedicated. UTM is for students who want to leave home, such as Memphis, but don't want to be so far away.
In three sentences UTM is great! Not a big city at all but a nice, clean, small campus with small classes. Great teachers and counselors. If you find things to get involved in, there are things to do. The Greeks are fun to watch and the dorms are better than most. The cafeteria food is good.

Categories Comments What to do for fun The recreation center is always the topic of Martin. As soon as I walked into the rec center, I fell in love. From not gaining the freshmen fifteen, the rec center is always open and filled with activities.
Food and Dining Food is always a good topic. College kids usually don't have a lot of money, especially when it comes to food. Martin provides an affordable meal plan and the places to eat around campus are affordable as well.
Dorm Life Dorm life is sweet! Period. I will be staying in University Village which is Freshmen priority. A head's up, SIGN UP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Especially if you want University Village, they tend to fill up fast. I was lucky enough to decide early that I want to attend Martin so I did housing back in November and I luckily got the place I wanted. Any of the resident halls are a good choice, however.
Academic Rigor The classes at UT Martin are small, and enjoyable. The environment is peaceful and there is lots of one-on-one time with the professor's. The really cool part is that most of them know you by a first name bases.
Tips for prospective students Before I applied, I toured Martin in the fall of 2011. I kept telling myself I would never attend college here since it was so close to home. Once I stepped foot on Martin, something just felt right. I was in love with the small, easy campus and knew right away that's where I wanted to go. People complain all of the time that it is too close to home, but it is close enough when you can come home, but you don't have to if you don't want to. Give it a try before you make a decision. Needless to say, I am so excited about this fall and meeting new people.
In three sentences The University of Tennessee at Martin is a well rounded school that is filled with people who are eager to help at any time. This small college with about 8,000 students on campus, has something going on at all times, so there is no time for boredom to set in. With The University of Tennessee at Martin being one of the safest campuses in the state of Tennessee, you can be assured that safety is not an issue here.

Greek Life All of the Divine 9 is on the campus of Martin, the only school in the state of Tennessee to have that. There are also many IFC Greeks on campus. The NPHC and the IFC have many activities on campus as well.
Clubs and Activities There are no clubs on campus, but there are clubs around the town that many people go to. There are also many activities on campus as well as in the city of Martin. There are many activities that people can volunteer in.
Great for these types of students This school is great for Arabian students. There is a program just for them. You will meet a lot of Arabian students here.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The University Center is where most students hang out. It is were most of the activities happen as well. There is also an game room there.
Bang for the buck The University of Tennessee of Martin is a very small campus. You will make many friends here as well. You will also learn something before you graduate.
What to do for fun The campus has many activities, one is the campus shows and movie every Sunday. Their are also football and basketball games. Their also many step shows and other Greek activities.
Food and Dining The food on campus is very good, you have the cafe food and the food court food. The food court has Sandella's, a Chinese restaurant, and Chick- fila. The cafe has many different types of food as well.
Dorm Life The dorm life is very fun, you will meet new people as well. You will have many activities while living in the dorm. Your guaranteed to have a good time while living on the dorm.
Academic Rigor The school implement academics in many ways. They have tutoring for the students and different centers such as the writing lab. I like how the school implement the academics.
Tips for prospective students Prospective students should explore other schools instead of the University of Tennessee at Martin. By doing this you will know if this school is right for you. Many students love the campus and some do not.

Categories Comments Campus Safety They have 24/7 patrols. The college makes every effort to protect your safety, from key cards to enter dorm floors and new lighting installed this year (2012) that lights up the campus.
Great for these types of students Students looking for an active role in their classes and with professors that can become mentors. Students interested in an ROTC - don't be intimidated! The instructors are great.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Watch out for the squirrels in the quad. They're known for stepping right onto the path just as your foot is coming down.
Bang for the buck I wouldn't choose Harvard over UTM.
What to do for fun Join an intramural, fraternity, and a club related to your major. Also check out the volleyball games in Ellington-Browning circle - they're really fun!
Food and Dining Expensive. Most students spend all their Captain's Cash in Chick-Fil-A and JW's the first month. Go for the 70-block meal plan and regulate your coffees and cheese quesadillas through the semester.
Dorm Life The RAs are amazing. If you can, get into Ellington, Browning, or Cooper. They actually have communities and community events (barbecues, movies on the lawn, volleyball tournaments, more active in intramurals) than the University Phases. Expect to have a lot less friends after your first month if you live in Phase 1 or 2.
Academic Rigor For your general education classes, they are relatively easy. For your major classes, dedicate as much energy to it as you did your ACT or an essay worth 1/3 of your grade and you should do well.
Tips for prospective students I would make sure you talk with other students and ratemyprofessor.com about your professors. Also, take care in the Humanities building to use the glass elevator, not the one right by the front doors. The glass one is much faster. Also, cultivate a mentor relationship with every professor, if you can. It will come in handy for future scholarship applications when you need references and they will also come to recommend you for awards.
In three sentences UTM is a friendlier than average campus, with a pretty quad and a large fraternity presence that is surprisingly liked on-campus. There are plenty of things to do on-campus after class, from volleyball tournaments to free movies in Watkins Auditorium and ice cream sundae contests in one of the dorms. There are very few professors that make you cry into your pillow at night.

Categories Comments Campus Safety It's wonderful. Cops are constantly walking the campus. The station is walking distance from anywhere. There are also many call stations on campus if an emergence arises. We recently got a TON of bright street lamps put in so you should feel completely safe to walk at night. The dorms are equipped with card sliders so only people with access can get it. They tell you at orientation that you can call campus police for anything and they are telling the truth. Call them if you need them and they will be there.
Greek Life it's every where. If you like it do it.
Clubs and Activities anything and everything. I'm in the Japanese society club, The anime club JARS, the scifi club, and the french club.
Great for these types of students Agriculture because it is an ag. school. Art, Psychology, social work, theater, forestry, biology, nursing, and many many more. Truly though, it's a great school for anybody. I have met people from all around the world with different interests and drives. One of my best friends now is originally from China. If you like to learn and love to be with friends then check this place out.
What to do for fun There is a club for almost ANYTHING at Martin. If you are interested in it they probably have it.
Food and Dining Most of the time it is pretty good. We have the cafeteria which changes its meals everyday. We also have the food court which has Chick Fillet, some Chinese food, and a Panera Bread type place called Sandella's. There is also a small market on campus. We have a coffee shop in the library, and scattered all through campus are quick stops that sell drinks, candy, sandwich's and more!
Dorm Life Most of the dorms are pretty small, but it's more of a cozy feeling. there are two different types of dorms. There is Ellington and Browning which are Y shaped dorms. They have two beds separated by a desk and a bathroom you share with the two people next door. Then you have Cooper which is a little more apartment style with multiple bedrooms in one room and a common bathroom. We also have multiple dorm apartments. UV1 and UV2. I have not had many problems with roommates and the RAs and housing directors are always there to help.
Academic Rigor I'm an art major and i sometimes spend about 20 hours in the studio trying to get work done. It's hard but a lot of fun. Most of the classes are challenging, but fun.
Tips for prospective students Make sure to go to the campus and take a look before saying yes. It's a gorgeous college, but it is in the middle of nowhere. If you want stuff to do every weekend out in town, this may not be the place for you. Also remember to go to your professors for help. They want to help you pass, but you have to be willing to ask. The campus is small and all the people are very nice so don't be worried about finding your way to classes.
In three sentences There classes are small. The campus is gorgeous. The teachers and professors are helpful and fun.

Categories Comments Food and Dining The cafeteria is definitely not the best place, but they are good for what you pay for. There's also a very fantastic coffee shop in the library, a 'quick stop' place in Gooch, and a food court that has flatbreads, Asian food, and a Chik-Fil-A.
Dorm Life Ellington and Browning are fantastic dorms. The RA's are nice and helpful, the rooms themselves are nice, and the kitchen on the first floor (and in the basement, but those are usually locked) is very convenient. If you're living with someone else, set boundaries fast. I did not and I had to switch roommates, and now I'm having to live alone.
Academic Rigor With the exception of Math 140 (Algebra Trig), the classes that I have had are challenging, but not so hard that you cannot pass. Math 140 is the most failed class on campus, so if you have to take it, be prepared.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared for a lot of freedom, really fast. Go to class early, and talk to your professors. They almost always love to talk to their students, and they will help in any way they can.

Greek Life UT Martin has all the IFC organizations and All of the NPHC organizations.
Clubs and Activities There are a lot of clubs and activities and if you cannot find the club for you the student activity center would love to help you start a club for you.
Great for these types of students UT Martin is great for students who are serious about their studies and hate large class sizes.
Bang for the buck UT Martin is not in the biggest city. The city of Martin is centered around the university.
What to do for fun If you do not interact with people then you will not have fun. There are a lot of social clubs to join and activities going on throughout the year the only dull moment is midterm and final exam week.
Food and Dining There is always something new in the cafeteria every Friday.
Dorm Life The dorm life is always busy between showing new movies in the theatre to have a full intramural basketball, softball, and flag football tournament.
Academic Rigor There are excellent tutoring services for every subject.

Categories Comments Campus Safety UTM is one ot the safest campus noted in the area. of course, there are always going to have a few interruptions. A student can feel very safe crossing the campus to class either day or night.
Greek Life I am currently involved with AGR''s. I find this fraternity very helpful in my becoming a responsible adult. There are many others to join both for guys and girls. Study habits are required for AGR along with staying involved in responsibility task.
Clubs and Activities Different clubs are offered on campus at no expense to students other than just joining and being involved.
Great for these types of students From Religious to Party type students, UTM has all that is offered. Discipline also comes as a consequence for not making the grade.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus AGR fraternity are still one of the few colleges involved in a rope pull UTM is now involved in going green with a product pick up at many locations in the surrounding area. Recycle items are picked up by employees of UTM
Bang for the buck College is very expensive and trying to have scholarship money to help with expenses is very important to me. I enjoy UTM and find it to be totally different education experience from High School. But due to expense, I need to apply for assistant to finance my education. UTM is great, the tuition is very expensive but a person gets what they pay for.
What to do for fun There are many clubs, fraternity, and sorority students can join to be involved and meet new friends. There are intramural games students can participate. Always wanting to meet new friends.
Food and Dining UTM has a great cafeteria allowing for good home cook meals. There are also places in the food court which will have pretty much whatever your taste buds are craving.
Dorm Life Dorm life is available at UTM, but I live at home. I am only a few miles away from UTM. I have friends in the dorms and seem to have a good experience living in that environment.
Academic Rigor If UTM doesn't have the degree you are searching then, definitely you will need to attend elsewhere. UTM strides to provide the academic program in our area of West Tennessee. Most teachers if students just ask are great to assist in helping.
Tips for prospective students Students wanting a hometown atmosphere along with quiet and safe college campus should consider UTM. There are great opportunities for involvement on campus. Students here at UTM even are friendly.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Every dorm has sports equipment that can be checked out. There are also several sports teams, and many really good quiet places to sit and read.
Food and Dining The cafeteria has several options every day, and pizza and salads are always an option. I have a few problems with the lack of spices on a few dishes, but overall the food is good. Plus, there is a food court with three different little restaurants if you don't want to eat in the cafeteria.
Dorm Life This depends more on if you get along with your roommate(s) than anything. A bad roommate may make dorm life seem bad, but a good one will make the school year a lot more fun.
Academic Rigor Some of the classes, like chemistry or certain English classes, are hard because they have to give us a lot of information in a short period of time. If you do the work, you might not make all A's but you will understand the material.
Tips for prospective students Visit the school after you get your schedule and find your classes. My biggest problem the first week of classes was finding where my classes were. Also, don't be afraid to question your professors if you don't understand something. Most of them will be happy to explain whatever you need help on, and other students will appreciate it as well because odds are that they have the same questions.
In three sentences UTM's professors are very nice and good at their jobs, at least the ones I have had are. They welcome our questions and are usually available if we need help. UTM also has a beautiful campus that is kept incredibly clean considering how many students are here, and there are many lovely outdoor places that are perfect for studying.

Categories Comments Campus Safety UT Martin is one of the safest campuses is Tennessee!
Clubs and Activities National Student Exchange Student Government Association Student Activity Council Etc.
What to do for fun There is always something to do around Martin. There are several clubs and organizations that always sponsor some form of activity. There are movies shown in the University Center every Sunday. There is a movie theater right up the road. Jackson, TN and Paducah, KY are two big shopping locations within an hour and a half from Martin.
Food and Dining There are several options as far as food goes within the university. There is the caf where the dining style is all you can eat with bars including: International Food, Grill. Salad, Gluten Free Food, Pasta, Pizza, Deli, Etc.
Dorm Life There are three dorms: Browning, Ellington, and Cooper. There are also two different types of apartment-style living apartments: Phase I and Phase II. The dorms are very comfortable and are very accommodating. Both Phases are extremely nice and comfortable. It is harder for freshman to get into Phase I, but Phase II is designed specifically for freshman.
Academic Rigor The academic rigor is not too terrible. The professors and staff work with you. As long as you stay on task and stay organized, you will be fine!
Tips for prospective students Tips for attending class: 1. Do NOT show up late- Some professors will not let you into the classroom if you show up late. 2. Do NOT show up to class in pajamas- You never know who will be your future boss. 3. Cell phone use in class is starting to become prohibited. 4. Take care of yourself- Remember, you are in college. Have a little fun!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Very little crime on campus. The worst we get is deer jumping off of buildings.
Great for these types of students Agriculture, Engineering
Bang for the buck It's cheap, and that may be the only good thing about it.
What to do for fun Rodeos, Relays, and un-inspired campus events.
Food and Dining The healthiest food in town is the subway in our Wal-Mart. If you like eating fast food for every meal, this is your school.
Dorm Life I cannot comment on the dorms as I have never lived there.
Academic Rigor I have attended less than 25% of the scheduled meetings for classes I have registered for and maintain a 3.6 GPA. There is absolutely no academic challenge here.
Tips for prospective students This is the cheapest UT campus, and so it is a good value for students. I feel like the majority of the professors, however, make sure to give you exactly what you paid for. This is a school for agriculture majors, as pretty much any other student would become frustrated and transfer shortly into their attending UTM.
In three sentences This school has been a mix of delight and frustration; there are many passionate professors here, but just as many who do not care about their students. I hate that this school is located in such a rural area, it is often difficult to obtain items or services that one may easily find in a larger town. There is VERY little entertainment available for students in this area, so if you are not an avid hunter and do not enjoy being surrounded by people who are, do not attend this school.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Martin was ranked on of the top 5 Safest Universities to attend in 2012!! I never felt uncomfortable or unsafe in my four years there. And security and Campus safety is ALWAYS there and ALWAYS ready!
Greek Life I pledged Greek during my Sophomore year at Martin and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It opened up more networking experiences and opportunities in Martin and outside of Martin! If you are interested, I say go for it!
Clubs and Activities There are MANY MANY options for clubs and extra curricular activities for ALL TYPES of students. No student will feel left out at all.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Martin is located in a small home-like country town. That is the only unusual factor, for me, coming from a big city in Tennessee. But it still feels like home, and you become very comfortable with being there!
Bang for the buck Martin is a VERY reasonable school as far as tuition is concerned. They offer MANY scholarships, which are readily available for all students, traditional and non-traditional. And small book scholarships too. There are so many payment options. You would want to go here just for the Price!
What to do for fun Being that UTMartin is located in a College Town and in a rural area, there is not much to do outside of campus. But there are towns located fairly close to Martin with shopping centers, bowling alleys, and skating rinks. There are also a lot of things do to provided by UTM! They do a good job with making sure students feel at home, and keep the excitement level high throughout all your years there!
Food and Dining Martin has a cafeteria that is open at convenient timing for students. It is a buffet style dining. There is also a food court with Chik-fil-a, Sandella's Deli, Sushi and Chinese, and a food market that has all your grocery items without having to leave campus. There are also other choices off campus like McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Long John Silvers, and others.
Dorm Life UTM has regular dorm housing and apartment style housing on campus and off campus. I stayed in both a dorm and an apartment and enjoyed both experiences. I never had any roommate problems, and any housing fixtures I needed was done in a timely manner. I have no complaints, but I'm sure, with all the housing options UTM provides, a new student is sure to find the right fit!
Academic Rigor The work at UTM is challenging, but it is do-able! Prioritizing your time will make the experience here an excellent one! If you challenge yourself to do the work, and make time to sit and study and comprehend the information you're working on, you will do great! The teachers are also willing to help at any capacity and there are other resources on campus for extra help as well.
Tips for prospective students Studying is key! It is important to make time for extra curricular activities and school events, but make sure you make time for studying and scholastic efforts!
In three sentences The University of Tennessee at Martin is a Great school to attend. I attended there for 4 years pursuing my Bachelors Degree and I absolutely enjoyed my experience! I would recommend UTMartin to any student!

There are Greek Life parties open to anyone and of course, you can hang out with your friends in your room :)
Food and Dining Sodexo is a great company which offers various foods, and foods cooked everyday including: the rotating pasta and home-cooked section, and every day sandwich bar, salad bar, and grill. Food is dependent on what you select to eat that day.
Dorm Life There is a Residence Hall Association as well as several activities atleast once a week that is put on by Residence Hall
