There is bowling, pool and video games at the University Center. You can attend sports events of all kinds throughout the year and you can participate in your own choice of athletic events at the state of the art T-Rec center. There are even clubs that do mountain biking, swimming and hiking in the Smokey Mountains!

Greek life, but also the school is really good about providing stuff like Vol-Night-Long and Volapalooza. And being downtown we are really close to Market Square and a whole bunch of other night life.

There are SO many things going on in Knoxville. The university does a great job of creating opportunities to wind down. Not to mention the amazingness that is market square!

There are tons of things to do for fun such as going to sporting events which is a proud tradition for UT students, especially football. Also there are recreational centers with rock climbing and so much more. There is also a ton of fun things to do in Knoxville alone such as the Rocky Mountains are not far, and we are not far from other great tourist attractions like Nashville and Atlanta.

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is only 45 minutes away (depending what area of the park you go to). Also market square downtown offers live music every night and a wide variety of restaurants and festivals in the warm months. There is also a great music scene with the Tennessee theatre, the Bijou theatre, and NV nightclub for the more underground crowd.

For fun at UT you can head to the strip on the weekends, there is always something going on! You can also throw a party, go to a party, join a fraternity or sorority (always doing something there) or you can just invite some friends over to your dorm and play video games if you're into that, watch movies, go to a sports game, they seem to be year round...needles to say, there is always something you can do! You just need to find it!

Bored on the weekend with nothing to do? No problem there is always something to do when you attend the University of Tennessee. Join a group led by the school and go hiking, stargazing, and white water rafting. If you want to grab a group of friends and go alone, no problem! Surrounding areas offer discounted rates to student groups four outdoor activities. Want to meet a celebrity? There is always a performance going on in Tennessee. Whether it's in Thompson Bowling Arena or the BIjou Theatre, there are performances that range from Country to R&B to punk rock.Want to catch a ride? Grab a few friends and head down to Sevierville and try out DollyWood Amusement Park. If you are like most college students and have empty pockets you can attend sport events which are free to students.Don't like sports make your way to Vol Night Long which is put on once a month and is a party with free food and goodies for students.Go see a movie screened for free in the University Center. At Tennessee you are limitless with what you can do for fun. Just come on down and we'll show you how the Volunteers do it.

  • Mar-26-2014 I am accepted here and planning to attend soon

1982 World Fair Park, Market Square and Krutch Park, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, West Town Mall, Holy Land Market on Sutherland Ave., McClung Museum (my favorite place on campus; I've attended free lectures for the public from really intersting people like photojournalist Chris Rainier and egyptologist Salima Ikram), the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, country stars in concert on campus, the Dogwood Arts Festival in the Spring, tailgate parties during football season, SEC games, clubbing on the Strip... Cute little towns like Downtown Dandridge are in close driving distance. Visit the TVA dams if you want to go to the lake. Go fishing. Drive to Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg if you want to do something touristy. Go to Dollywood or Ripley's Aquarium, or go skiing ir ride the sky lift or the really big ferris wheel in Pigeon Forge. And Atlanta, Nashville, and Chattanooga are all a few hours away.
