Tips for prospective students Definitely attend a preview visit and make sure that you join a FIG (Freshman Interest Group) if you are planning to attend.
Bang for the buck This university is one of the best educational values in the state of Texas. There are brand new dorms, and numerous on campus and off-campus apartments within walking distance.
Will enjoy being here There are over 300 student organizations - so everyone can find somewhere to become involved. It is also located in the heart of Arlington right between Fort Worth and Dallas so there is always something to do.
Will learn a lot UTA has one of the best Nursing programs in the state of Texas and the nation as well.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students 1) People who don't prefer partying. 2) Anyone who is diverse and like being around diverse people. 3) Anyone who wants to learn.
Tips for prospective students If you are thinking about coming here i would advise getting some form of transportation, preferably one that does not use gas!! but if you bring a car make sure you car pool whenever you have to go anywhere. One of the best things about this school is that is close to a city. You got the movies and a giant mall right around the corner but if you drive around all the time your pocketbook will suffer. Also if you take engineering do not, I REPEAT!!! DO NOT!!! take Dr. Seath you will regret it.
Bang for the buck I would say the school is slightly over priced for all the things they have to offer but it is college, a place where you can get away from it all, or from you parents, and let loose. If you got a lot of scholarships you'll be fine. But a guy like me, who is middle class so i can't get financial aid, and didn't get a bunch of scholarships, school here can get pricey.
Am enjoying being here There isn't a whole lot to do on campus, quite honestly. The school tries to have a good event every once in a while but fail most times. It certainly is not a party school so if you party you shouldn't come here. The real thrill comes from the MAC (google it) and dorm life.
Am learning a lot I was the type of guy who breezed through high school without a single problem. I wasn't a straight A student but i ended up with a 3.87. But after i spent one semester at UTA i realized college is different... well at least at UTA. I was snapped back to reality and once i began to focus I started to learn a lot. After only one semester I learned so much it was crazy.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students If you live in the Dallas/Fort Worth Area and you are looking for an affordable, close to home, four-year university than UTA is right for you. If you are in to division one college sports, UTA has you covered. The school is nationally known in track and field and both men's and women's basketball teams. While you work on furthering your degree, you can also work on bettering your body at UTA's fantastic workout facility. You won't need to go off campus to find a gym when you have one of the best ones within walking distance from your dorm or apartment. Then after your workout you can find a wide variety of foods at the food court and highly reviewed cafeteria.
Tips for prospective students This school is known for its Nursing and Engineering programs, but don't let that turn you away if that is not your intended major. The school as a whole is a great place to go. This school is growing by the day.
Bang for the buck A lot cheaper than those other Big Universities and close to home.
Am enjoying being here For the most part I'm enjoying being here. I don't think I'd be as comfortable anywhere else.
Am learning a lot This school makes me work so much harder than I ever did in high school, and thats a good thing. Working at this level allows me to get a feel for how hard I'm going to have to work in the real world after I graduate from here.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students -If you're living on campus -Majoring in nursing or engineering -Working in addition to going to school
Tips for prospective students Get involved! Join clubs and participate with campus events!
Bang for the buck Many job/internships opportunities and an expanding campus.
Am enjoying being here Its fun and got a good vibe on campus! Definitely can find people to have fun with or to buckle down and study with, depends on what one's looking for!
Am learning a lot This school is definitely not some blow-off school. Sure there's many events to enjoy, but when it comes to the academics, its taken seriously. Each class requires much effort, but one can actually learn and apply to real-life situations, versus just reading about it in a book in order to pass a class.

Tips for prospective students - LIVE IN A DORM: You'll save money for other things and you will come away with lifetime friendships. So what if the dorm rooms are small...your cubicle at work will be small too, but this one comes with a bed! Dorm rooms come complete with wireless internet and cable for your television. You will skip traffic woes and save gas, too. - ON FINANCIAL AID: Apply for aid early. 'Nuff said. - DON'T GET A MEAL PLAN. This is the biggest ripoff known to modern man. The hours they serve are inconvenient and the university insists that they are. For example, in the fall I took out the largest meal plan they offered. I had an 8 a.m. class two days a week, and to eat breakfast before class, I had to get up and shower at 6 or 6:30 to get there when they opened at 7, and eat fast enough to get to class on the other side of campus by 8. Then, I had another class on the other two days from 5:30-6:50 p.m. and the cafeteria closes at 7:30 - yep, on the other side of campus. In the end, none of the meals will roll over to the next semester and you don't get a refund. - BRING YOUR BIKE: (See Maverick Bike Shop above) You will use it all the time because it is difficult to find parking, parking is remote, you can use the close-in metered parking, but if you are one minute late, you can expect a $20 ticket the university will not cancel. - LOCK UP SAID BIKE with a U-lock or a thick cable that can only be cut with a torch or grinder. - CAMPUS COFFEE OPTIONS: There is more to campus than Starbucks. Two blocks from campus there is Health and Harmony Coffee House. Wayyyyyyy cheaper and better. - TEXTBOOK OPTIONS: Check out BOOKDEFY, a textbook exchange online, or call the Maverick Bike Shop for information on the campus textbook library where students can check out their textbooks. Buying textbooks are expensive, so students should check out all other options. - LOCK UP YOUR LAPTOP! A $50 laptop lock could mean the difference in your GPA, especially if your laptop gets lifted. Laptops can disappear in minutes, when unattended...so lock it up. - BE SERIOUS ABOUT STUDYING: It is too easy to lose focus in college, especially when there are so many fun options mocking you. - SCHOLARSHIPS FROM THE UNIVERSITY: In the early part of the spring semester, information about scholarships is available in the different departments. Students should ask and go by the office to pick up the forms. Then, make sure you turn them in prior to the deadlines. They can't give out money, if no one applies. - DON'T WORRY IF YOU DON'T HAVE A MAJOR: You will get through your core classes and will have a better idea of what you like and what you excel at.
Bang for the buck When I looked at tuition and living on campus, I decided to go the dorm route and to take advantage of the capped tuition, I took 15 hours for Fall and Spring 2011. I share a dorm for $272 per month, all bills paid, rather than sharing a very small apartment for more than double that, no bills paid. I can roll out of bed and be in class in five minutes. I am getting an 'Ivy-League' education for pennies...and the networking opportunities at UTA offer a pipeline to getting a job when you get out. - NOTE: Here's another gold nugget...MAVERICK BIKE SHOP is a student run bicycle shop where you can get maintenance on your bike for cheap. Nicest, best people around, offering quality bike repairs and equipment. You can even borrow a bike for free (check a bike out and return the end of the semester). - Take Winter-mester and May-mester classes. These are rolled into the other sessions for payment purposes, and with capped tuition, they are a bonus. The downside: they are credit classes held in about 12 days, fast-paced and a lot of work in a very short time. The upside: Not only are they included in the tuition, you are done in a very short time.
Am enjoying being here Many people don't know that UTA is where JPEG (camera cards) compression, HDTV, and gastro camera pills were invented; or that olympic trainers teach here; or that we have First Amendment lawyers that teach here; or that we have a studio arts program on glass work that is world-class; or all the other experts teaching at UTA. There are many gold nuggets around this campus. The Shorthorn, the student publication, is an award winning newspaper that connects students, faculty, and the university with the community. There are events, lectures or other happenings across campus all the time...you will never be bored.
Am learning a lot UTA is filled with world-class professors, many of whom are more interested in your learning the material, than in (metaphorically) hitting you over the head with their gradebook. Many of my senior-level communication classes are taught using the same theories, but not to be redundant, rather to help students see how the parts connect. If you aren't a math major and tend to not do well in the subject, you should consider taking Rachel Goodwin (very bright, extremely good in math, and a patient graduate student, loved by all).

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Architecture, Nursing, Biology And anyone who wants to have fun with lots of school planned events and traditions :)
Tips for prospective students I would highly recommend this school. And especially if you can to live on campus for your first year or semester. The dorms are always planning fun events to participate in. Get active in groups and clubs because thats how you make the most friends. STUDYYYY!!! You have to read and study, if I could do it a second time with my first semester I wouldn't have goofed off as much and studied harder, you get behind really really fast. And last but not least...use rate my professor it will save you.
Bang for the buck Absolutely!!
Did enjoy being here YES!! I loved it there. The campus is very clean and very modern. Unlike UT Austin this campus has a much more new feel to it. Not to mention the wonderful library and cafeteria. It is somewhat hard to find places to shop for groceries if you live in Arlington but once you get to know the place and meet some people who can show you around, it becomes much nicer. I would warn people about some of the neighborhoods in Arlington. Some of which are run down, which I personally wouldn't feel very comfortable strolling along at night time. And Roads suck. But the Campus ROCKS :)
Did learn a lot Yes this school has some very knowledgable professors, if you have to take General Psychology or History 1 I would highly recommend Dr.Cox and Dr.Cole both excellent professors. But there are some professors who will simply waste your time and do not know how to teach. Not to even mention in a two hundred student class room a bad teacher could mean the difference between an A or a C. So I highly advise using ratemyprofessors.com it will help you avoid some very bad professors and help you discover some very good ones. I was not aware of this website when I first applied and really wish I had known about it especially for my bio class.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Good for social people. Not are big on parties, but love to hang out and still get your work done.
Tips for prospective students Don't stress about declaring a major right away. And if you know you're going to fail a class, make sure and drop asap and take a easier class, and then take the required class at TCC.
Bang for the buck For being a University, UTA is a very good priced school. Plus they offer many scholarships.
Am enjoying being here UTA is a very good school, they always have different events going on.
Am learning a lot UTA offers these courses where you will learn different study tips. They also offer many study aides like tutoring, writing and math clinic, and many more other things.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students -Looking for tuition (in-state) less than $5k a semester -Like suburban campus areas -Wanting solid academics -Interested in Film
Tips for prospective students -Apply for FASFA early as possible! -Get advised ASAP -Take a campus tour -Tour your department -Get face time with you professors & ask questions!
Bang for the buck This is a great medium priced school. There is a tuition cap (around $4.5k per semester) so you can take upwards of 12 hours and not pay more. Also, there is 'The Maverick Promise' scholarship. This will pay tuition (after FASFA aid) if you are 25 years old and make less than $60k a year. This was very big in my decision coming here.
Will enjoy being here Nice campus and environment so far. Exited to use real film cameras and other hard to come by equipment. Campus tries to improve and promote campus life through activities/mixers/events. Great location right between Dallas & Fort Worth. The brand new MAC (Maverick Activity Center) is really great for athletics and fun.
Will learn a lot I'm a transfer. My degree will be in Film/Video/Screenwriting here at UTA. Talking with the department advisers & professors I've learned a lot already. Profs are well knowledged and have years of professional experience in the industry. I'm expecting to learn much!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students -People who love meeting new friends. -People who commutes. -People who wants to learn. -People who likes something new. -People who's not a party wild. -People who's diverse.
Tips for prospective students Here are some tips that I’d like you to take note. Commuting: If you’re driving 30 minutes or so to UTA, and your friends wants to hit the movies, which is around the corner, CARPOOL. It’s the best way to save gas and money! MAC: After class and you’re bored? Hit the MAC. There’s so many things that you can do there. You can: exercise/workout, ping pong, racquetball, basketball, dance, do some yoga, and much more! Events: There are so many events that are hosted by UTA. You should really take your time away from studying and try to attend at least two. It’ll help you release the stresses from studying or from stuff that’s been annoying you. It’s a great way to meet new people and have fun! Making New Friends: You have very little friends but want to make more friends to keep yourself comfortable when walking on campus or being on campus? Well, what are you waiting for! Join some events, organizations, etc. It will help you meet new friends and eventually, you won’t feel left out anymore. Organizations: There’s not an organization that you like or your type? Create one! There are so many organizations on campus so I doubt you need to form one, but if you do, do it!
Bang for the buck It’s not too pricey at some point. In my case, I used most of my money on food and gas. Because I’m commuting, I have to use money on gas, food, and places that my friends and I want to hang. But if you think about it, it’s worth it because it’s giving you tons of opportunity.
Am enjoying being here I really love it here although I'm commuting. After meeting some friends that lives on campus, I was able to attend so many events such as Dancing with the Mavericks and Movie Nights. Everything here is fun and you can meet so many people! There's so many events in front of the library that would make you excited and well wanting to participate. All I can say is, it's a new feeling and I love it.
Am learning a lot It's only been months that I've attended here and it's improving my academic knowledge so well. I'm a college freshman majoring in Nursing. Due to the fact that I'm a freshman and still new, I'm able to meet lots of great friends and know lots of great professors here.

Tips for prospective students Be involved! If you are an incoming freshman, join a Freshman Interest Group. They will help you develop good habits and you will make friends along the way.
Bang for the buck Scholarships and financial aid will always help, but this is one of the cheaper universities in the metroplex (one year at TCU costs the same as four years at UTA!)
Am enjoying being here The campus is beautiful, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Living on campus is definitely beneficial as well.
Am learning a lot I'm really being pushed to my full potential here; I never leave a class without having learned something new.

Bang for the buck Easily an extremely good deal for the caliber of the education you will receive there.
Will enjoy being here The staff and other students have been very nice and helpful and everyone makes an effort to make things easier for new students.
Will learn a lot Truly a diamond in the rough. This school has some of the BEST nursing, communications, business and architecture programs around but sadly a lot of it's attention is sucked up by the Austin campus.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Great for music students! The Music Department has plenty of scholarship money to give out. UTA is the top Nursing school in Texas. I am a Nursing student and would not dream of going anywhere else.
Tips for prospective students You will not enjoy UTA if you cannot adapt and make friends without having them be in every class with you. Time management is key to a college students success. All UTA teachers will tell you this and recommend getting a calendar and actually using it!
Bang for the buck UTA is one of the cheapest four year universities.
Am enjoying being here UTA has a diverse range of clubs and activities for everyone. There is so much going on it is hard to pick and choose the event that you attend. It is definitely not a party school. UTA is a big communter school, parking is a problem at 10 in the morning. Beware of days when it rains for the campus floods.
Am learning a lot Here at UTA, everyday you are learning about your intended field, curriculum that interests you since you chose that class, or cultural competence.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students One of the best nursing schools in the state of Texas. Great university for Architecture, Engineering, Liberal Arts, and Science majors
Tips for prospective students Take a tour here. I fell in love with the campus on my first visit. Make sure to apply for a FIG (Freshman Interest Group) because you meet so many people in this group that will help you in the years to follow.
Bang for the buck It is actually not to expensive compared to other schools because my tuition for this year was a little over $17,000 when at other schools I would've have been paying over $20000.
Am enjoying being here There are so many different organizations on campus that I have yet to experience a dull moment. They have many events held during the first few weeks so everyone can get together and experience the college life and meet new people. Students at UTA have free access to the gym, so that gives a way to combat the dreaded freshman fifteen. I thought it would be hard to be away from home, but in reality UTA has become another home away from home.
Am learning a lot The professors are really amazing. They help you out as long as you ask for the help. They even have study group sessions during non-class hours that are really helpful because you can grasp the concepts better. Entering freshman are given free tutoring hours if at least one tutoring session has been completed before mid September. There really is no explanation for failing.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Those paying for their own education, those who want to be around a diverse group of people, those who like to socialize and still focus on academics, and those who don't care about a football team.
Tips for prospective students Make a friend in each of your classes so that you always know what's going on. Try to avoid big gaps in your schedule between classes so that you don't get bored and tempted to skip class. Join a FIG if you want more support in your major, but know that it will require work, homework, and reading (it's an actual class).
Bang for the buck UTA's tuition is a lot cheaper than a lot of the Texas university's, but the education is competitively equal to some of the other state schools. UTA also has tons of scholarships you can get through the school for grades and for being involved.
Am enjoying being here I love being around all sorts of different people, walking around the campus and learning about myself. There are also TONS of ways to get involved on campus, whether it's greek life, clubs, organizations, volunteering or internships. Everyone is so friendly and eager to help you find your fit.
Am learning a lot Check ratemyprofessor.com before choosing your professors to make sure their teaching style will work for you.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Majoring in nursing, social work, advertising, engineering, business. Like a big major city, sports( the new ginormous cowboys stadium is three minutes away and so is the Rangers baseball), and a mixed diverse community.
Tips for prospective students BE SURE TO APPLY EARLY!!!... the financial aid grants literally run out in a couple weeks. If your accepted in early and have everything taken care of, you could get a piece of the pie!
Bang for the buck Still has the steep price of education, but you truly get so much out of it. There is always an event or seminar to attend, contests, concerts, quality education.... The school is just awesome.
Am enjoying being here Such a diverse school. You will definitely meet new people and learn so much from them. Out of state students, disabled, international, everyone seems to be unique and special in their own way.
Am learning a lot The professors here really are kind and easy to approach if there is a problem. Class sizes aren't the smallest but you still get help and attention and will definitely learn.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students UTA is great for all types of students. There are so many different degree programs that it would be hard to not find something for everyone.
Tips for prospective students The school is not that hard to get in to, but it is harder to stay in. I advise getting involved whether it's on campus or at a job. Get to know people and you'll love it as much as I do!
Bang for the buck The tuition is affordable and the classes are great. Not to mention they have one of the top 100 business schools in the nation!
Am enjoying being here All of the professors are wonderful and willing to work with you even though the classes are larger.
Am learning a lot I love going to UTA, I am learning a lot and since I am a junior, I have, most of my classes with the same people.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students - Any math or science (psych, physiology, chemistry, physics, nursing, biology, etc...) majors. **Try to get some research experience. - Also great for teachers (if a math or science research doesn't appeal to you and you'd rather teach, they have great programs too) **Please keep in mind throughout all this that I'm rather biased towards my field with my information; I don't know much of other fields.
Tips for prospective students - study - don't memorize, learn/understand what you're doing - eat, sleep and have fun (don't get too carried away with the fun though or you're not studying) - try to avoid group study (In theory it sounds good, but you end up wasting way too much time and sometimes not only do you not get better but other people confuse you) ****These apply to any college (and some high school).
Bang for the buck Actually, I'm not entirely qualified to answer that question on my own accord since I'm here on an almost full scholarship due to a national competition. However, I can say, it will cost about 20k to live on campus and be a full time student for1 year; that's basically guaranteed. However, it depends on the individual and their situation. If I didn't have this scholarship (and I may not get it next year) I still extremely highly advise this school especially if you want to go into research for some math or science. That kind of education and experience offered here is totally worth it. I constantly hear of and meet peers who say they're from UT-Austin or TAMU and they didn't have much opportunity at those schools. One girl, in particular, with whom I work is from UT-Austin and she often says she should have come straight here, she wasted about 2 years at UT-Austin paying more and then came here and got much more experience, she now works in the lab with me as an undergrad and she says it is cheaper to attend here.
Am enjoying being here I love it here. The campus is beautiful, the weather is wonderful, the people are, for the most part very nice, the teachers know what they are doing and I like my job. There is a nature park I go hiking and biking close by and there are events to socialize as well as quite places to study. As far as I'm concerned, this place is perfect for me!
Am learning a lot I both am a student here and an undergrad researcher. I started working here this past summer and I began as a transfer here this Fall. While I'm learning a ton in the classrooms, I am and have been learning even more valuable experience in my field. UTA is great for undergrad research in physics, chemistry, biology, nursing, etc.... The professors here are almost all researching and teaching but you can still reach them if you need to. The environment here is great for learning.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Those interested in nursing and engineering. The programs are some of the best in the state. Also, students that want to be teachers would do great at UTA. The university uses the UTeach program which makes it easy to become a teacher for mathematics or science while still getting to take the classes that you want in the major that you want.
Tips for prospective students 1. Apply early to get all the scholarships you can. The tuition may not be as high as it could be, but its still more money than most people have in their bank accounts. Not only does the university offer many scholarships, but they have a financial aid office with a staff that is always willing to talk to you if you need help. 2. When you go to get a meal plan, think about it a lot. You think you're going to be eating in the cafeteria a lot, but the lines are long and not everyone eats there. More often than not, you'll end up eating somewhere close to campus with a friend or two so you won't even use all the meals that are offered and they don't roll over to the next semester. If you don't use all your meals, its wasted money. 3. Don't be afraid to call the advisers, email them, call the financial aid office or the admissions office. They are there to help you and they really do. Just know what you're going to ask them before you make the call so you don't waste too much time. Also, they don't know everything so sometimes you may have to call a few people before you find the answer to the question you have.
Bang for the buck A great education that is waaaaaaay cheaper than at other universities. There is the chance that the tuition won't be raised for next year meaning that, as other colleges close by get more and more expensive, UTA will continue to be cheaper than most other universities. Also, there are so many different classes offered that you will truly hardly ever get bored. You can fix your schedule so that you have at least one interesting class a semester that still satisfies a credit that you will need. For example, I'm taking a mythology class that gives me three hours for my social cultures credits but the class is extremely interesting.
Am enjoying being here The campus is beautiful and there is always something to do. There are activity fairs all the time, different tables are set up around campus from different organizations and there are people willing to be your friend all over the place. If you're in class and you don't have any friends, just sit next to a new person and you will most likely then always have someone to talk to. It doesn't seem as if there are many true introverts on campus which is helpful.
Am learning a lot Most of my professors are wonderful and the same can be said for many of the other professors on campus. They have specific office hours and are willing to help you as long as you truly want help instead of just goofing off. If you email them, they almost always email you back within the day, especially if you're asking about getting help in one way or another.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Great for intended healthcare professionals and business majors.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you keep in touch with counselors through email, or i person, because they truly do wish for you to succeed. Make sure you fill out your FAFSA application asap as well as your housing application. Do not stress the first semester of your freshman year because you did not make the grade you intended to. You will more than make up for it your second semester. Just study hard and try and you will succeed.
Bang for the buck UTA has many artists that come through and perform at the school and this year is no different. This year we have the musical artist, Drake stopping by.
Am enjoying being here The UTA campus is a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. The student council is always finding ways to engage the students in campus activities.
Am learning a lot The classes at UTA are good and challenging. They adequately prepare you for the next course level and help aim for you to succeed. There are many tutoring opportunities to help you in case you fall behind.

Categories Comments Campus Safety You cannot go far without seeing a security car or officer. I feel very safe there.
Greek Life They have many sororities and fraternities to choose from! Can't wait to get into one!
Clubs and Activities Lots of good clubs to choose from!
Great for these types of students Their main thing in engineering, so if you want to be an engineer, you will be treated awesome at UTA.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I cannot wait to find out about all their crazy traditions! I think one is a mud fight!
Bang for the buck UTA is decent on pricing, but Texas Women's and UNT are cheaper.
What to do for fun UTA is right by a huge mall and Six Flags Over Texas!
Food and Dining They have EXCELLENT food!
Dorm Life I am not living in the dorms so I would not know.
Academic Rigor They have schools and colleges for each major. Most have several requirements to get into! I feel like once you have jumped through all the hoops, you are ready for classes!
Tips for prospective students They do not offer many evening classes. If you have a day job, you may have a hard time getting all the required classes in.
In three sentences UTA is one of the cheapest universities in Texas! It has a lot of awesome features, such as being close to Six Flags, and having an awesome Greek life! UTA is the true university experience!

Categories Comments Campus Safety UTA's campus has emergency towers that will dispatch to an officer if needed. There are also UTA officers that drive around, ensuring campus safety. As I was told at orientation, the most common crime at UTA is theft, and that doesn't even happen often.
What to do for fun UTA has a vast amount of student organizations. You WILL find one that suites you. There is also the Mavericks Activity Center, where you will find many workout things to keep you busy, such as swimming, tennis, volleyball, game consoles, and more. If none of those do you fancy, there's always events held by different organizations, such as concerts, bed races, ooze ball, and more.
Food and Dining THE FOOD IS AMAZING. The Connection Cafe was my favorite part of orientation. I'm not sure I will be eating there when I start going, but I can assure that the food is superb. There's a salad bar, four or five lines of different foods you can have. It was mouth-watering. There are also vending machines and a Starbucks located in their University Hall building and other buildings such as the library.
Dorm Life I don't live in a dorm, but my friends do. From what the orientation leaders have told us about dorming, UTA does a great job at matching dorm partners based off of a survey students must take when signing up for a dorm room in order to accommodate both of the roommates.
Academic Rigor I'm not completely sure what this means, but I'm guessing it's talking about how well the school ranks in education. Well, after going to orientation, I have a mindset that the College of Science will be difficult, but with studying and focus, it will be alright. The University of Texas at Arlington takes their academic life very seriously, not taking any AP scores below a 4 for credit.
In three sentences The campus of the University of Texas at Arlington is filled with culture and liveliness from student clubs to events. It has been growing, with new buildings and places added almost every year. The school is a beautiful sight to behold and I cannot wait to attend this following school year.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Don't live in Centennial Court apartments. If you take night classes, use the parking garage because walking from the parking lots and using the buses is scary. Be aware of your surroundings when going to classes.
Bang for the buck There are a lot of activities that you get to be involved in just by going here.
Did enjoy being here My living situation wasn't the greatest and I didn't feel safe. I paid way more for my Centennial Court apartment than it was worth.

Categories Comments What to do for fun At UTA there are tons of things to do for fun. For example, the MAC (maverick activity center), movies on Friday nights, hang out with friends, the bowling alley here on campus.
Food and Dining The food at UTA in my opinion is amazing. I love the cafeteria food, but just make sure to workout to stay in shape.
Dorm Life The dorm life at UTA is pretty fun, you meet lots of new people. There's no one telling you when to go to sleep or when to wake up, so that's a plus.
Academic Rigor The academic rigor here isn't to tough but expect to be challenged.
Tips for prospective students If you can room with a friend you know who is also coming to UTA, that will help you with your transition to the college life away from home. Make sure to plan your schedule and use a planner to keep you on top of assignments and upcoming tests.
In three sentences The University of Texas at Arlington is an amazing vibrant campus that will allow you to excel in college academics. Since being here i have made several friends and the people here are enormously friendly. The professors are first rate and will give you the best chance to succeed.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Great for those interested in nursing, sciences, and engineering. Also good for those who like meeting new people and are sociable.
Tips for prospective students Make good grades in school and show that you are interested in the major you are interested in.
Bang for the buck Every Friday is unlimited bowling/billiards for $1. Sports events are free with student i.d., and a great education that doesn't cost as much as other local universities.
Am enjoying being here There are always things going on at school for students to do. They have comedy series and concerts, for example. Everyone here is really friendly too.
Am learning a lot The classes I am taking provide me new study habits that help for exams. The school provides students a lot of tools to help them succeed in their classes.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students who are up for a challenge, those who strive for the best, and those looking to meet a lot of new people.
Tips for prospective students I definitely recommend taking a tour of the campus and registering for your classes as soon as you can because they fill up really fast. Get to know your professors, and do not be afraid to go to their office after lecture and just introduce yourself. This is not a party school, academics are taken very seriously.
Bang for the buck The only thing I think you don't get your moneys worth is when it comes to eating in the cafe. Depending on the meal plan you choose, I think it's a little on the expensive side. But everything else is pretty reasonable.
Am enjoying being here There are always people around and things to do. On campus, the MAC (Mavericks Activity Center a.k.a. one of the most amazing gyms ever!) is really nice. People are friendly and the campus is really nice and bigger than you might think. The University is in the middle of Arlington so there is A LOT to do off campus. (The Highlands, Parks mall, etc.)
Am learning a lot I'm not going to lie, the classes are challenging and the professors want you to challenge yourself but overall, its college. Plain and simple. Attend all lectures, labs, etc. do your reading and study study study! If you plan on majoring in Nursing, this is the place to be!

Tips for prospective students Don't be afraid to talk to your professors and don't let all the freedom get to your head e.g. browsing facebook during class everyday. Remember, you're paying for it this time.
Bang for the buck Compared to other universities within the state, UTA offers quality education for substantially lower prices.
Am enjoying being here This is definitely one of the more diverse universities. If NCAA and intramural athletics aren't your thing, there are clubs for just about any hobby. And if there isn't a club you like, you can get a group of friends together and make your own! Add the 26 greek organizations in the mix and you have even more options to choose from. There is something for everyone.
Am learning a lot The engineering program is strenuous at times but it is well worth the effort. The professors love what they do and are willing to help any student provided the student is earnest and willing to accept the work load/learn the material.

Tips for prospective students I suggest prospective students to UT Arlington to - attend orientation as soon as possible - carpool if you can parking is terrible. and join an organization.
Bang for the buck UT Arlington is one of the few schools that has a good tuition cost and has a good education at the same time. Even though, a person wants to live on campus dorms varies from prices to fit a person's budget.
Am enjoying being here i loved being in UT Arlington because the people are very nice which make coming to school enjoyable. Also, UT Arlington has a lot resources to help a student become successful in their classes. Eve,n if you do not have anything to do there is always something to do in campus usually something is going on campus or something to do for fun.
Am learning a lot I am learning different things every time i attend my classes. UT Arlington has a very good nursing program in the state. The learning pace is just for a beginning freshman, most professors even stay after class to answer any questions a student may have.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students -Engineering-UT Arlington has recently completed construction on the new Engineering Research Building. I have visited the facility as well as seen many students follow through very satisfactorily through the program. -Nursing- UT Arlington's College of Nursing has recently been endowed with a grant and recognized for alumni innovations in health care. The faculty are always seeking out interest in students and motivating with their experiences. -INTS in medical sciences -Sustainability- Not only is UT Arlington constantly evolving as a sustainable environment through waste minimization and various lecture series. UT Arlington hosts a great environmental society that works every week. For Arbor Day, over 50 trees are being planted!
Tips for prospective students Whether you are a pursuing a specific major or are undeclared at the moment, look for FIG and FYS courses. These courses have brought me invaluable information about services and resources available on campus.
Bang for the buck The scholarship situation is quite sketchy, but reasonable in comparison with many other state-based universities.
Am enjoying being here At UTA, I have found many students with similar interests and diverse backgrounds. In between classes, I can count on finding students returning from military duties and spare-time scholars. Through the student organizations and university programs, I have become connected to thoroughly participant members of society.
Am learning a lot In sum, I have become more conscious about sustainability and university transitions. This year I'm in training to become a peer academic leader, a role in which students mentor incoming freshmen and first-year students. I have attuned my learning skills uniquely to each subject area---writing, thinking critically, and absorbing information. Overall, the standard at which UTA's faculty are held at have helped me become more aware of myself as a student.

Tips for prospective students Go to class Learn how to manage your time between studying and leisure time Be active Get involved= easiest way to make friends
Bang for the buck Alot of people underestimate UTA because it is not a widely known like UT or Baylor but i think its truly one of the best especially in tuition department. Tuition rates are pretty affordable compared to other schools in the area.
Am enjoying being here I LOVE going to UTA. They are always things going on on campus like concerts or lectures. Dallas is also only half an hour away so you can go to concerts or just explore downtown. Six Flags, The Cowboys Stadium and Texas Rangers Stadium are less than 10 minutes away from the UTA campus so there is ALWAYS something to do.
Am learning a lot I am a current prenursing student at UTA and have come to find out that UTA has one of the BEST nursing schools in Texas. It is VERY competitive and hard to get in, considering they only accept 100 students per semester when about 900 apply each semester. So it's pretty tough but thats what makes it the best.

Bang for the buck The money spent here would be worth while and probably the best decision anybody could make. Even without financial aid their are many ways to find money to pay for college.
Will enjoy being here The current students there seemed to be friendly people and have a sense of diversity. I felt that I could easily make new friends there and have reasonable fun.
Will learn a lot I visited the campus and fell in love with my soon to be second home. As I walked the campus and learned more and more about the environment and the learning abilities at this school it becomes easier for me to make my final decision and I made my decision.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Get involved right away. Find any student organization and give it a try. You never know what you will get out of it and if the first one is not for you, don't worry there are hundreds more.
Bang for the buck I feel like it is getting a bit pricey because the school is expanding so much. They have built 5 HUGE new buildings in the past 4 years. They built a new gym that is amazing, 2 giant new engineering research buildings, multiple new dorms, and they are currently finishing a brand new arena. So they have to make up some of those costs but I don't think it is significantly different in pricing than any other university.
Am enjoying being here One of the great things about UTA is how diverse it is. There are hundreds of students organizations. I myself am involved in 5 organizations. You can always keep yourself busy.
Am learning a lot The professors at UTA are pretty helpful. All of the professors I have had have been more than willing to help me out when ever I needed extra help. As far as the classes go, they move at a pretty decent pace. They are not so fast that you will be lost if you miss a class or two but you definately need to study to keep up.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Keep your priorities in mind. This isn't a party campus but that doesn't mean that if you don't keep your purpose at hand you wont stray.
Bang for the buck It depends on who you are on wheter or not you feel like you are getting what you paid for. Tuition is good, housing is decent, and they offer alot of activities and lectures.
Am enjoying being here UTA gives us the perfect mix of fun. Enough so that we don't feel overwhelmed with school but not enough that we feel distracted. Final time is the best though because at the library they provide study breaks for you with food and games. They hold it in the basement so they don't disrupt the other student but its there. They have week long events that are all about culture and the works. UTA is a diverse school, that will help you learn alot about the world
Am learning a lot UTA is a great school wwith amazing professors, or atleast my professor have been great. They suplement class lectures with media to help integrate what is really happening in the world with the text book education they are providing. I have had a great experience with learning especially in the math department. (I went from failing to passing with my teachers helping me to develop study habits that would help me comprehend those formulas). The professors don't see their jobs as how ever many hours in the class room they make themselves available to help you, and the university provides amazing tutoring services.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students who are serious about keeping a high GPA, those who do not care too much about the social life on campus, and those who want to attend a great university for not that much money compared to other schools.
Tips for prospective students Get to know the professors and join as many clubs as you can!
Bang for the buck I received a very generous scholarship from this school, therefore, it is very cheap for me which is a big reason for why I will attend this school for the rest of my undergrad. Also, even without the scholarship, the in-state fees are extremely reasonable.
Am enjoying being here I really love this school in general just for the academic opportunities it has given me but the on-campus activities are very limited, therefore, it has not given me many social opportunities. But overall the students that attend have been awesome and very friendly.
Am learning a lot The professors at this university care a lot about your learning especially if you show them that you are really interested in the course. So far, my professors have been very dedicated which have led me to learn a lot.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Like an open environment, don't mind a lot of walking (although there isn't really that much), and like trees and greenery (it's beautiful there).
Tips for prospective students If you plan to live on campus, take a good look at the dorms options and their apartments. School seems really health oriented with a no smoking on campus policy and an Activity Center.
Bang for the buck The price of college, I must admit is pricey, but I will say well worth it. I expected it to be a lot more and was relieved that it wasn't as much as I thought it would be with living in the dorms and everything, but I really look forward to it.
Will enjoy being here During the schools orientation I was allowed to learn so much about the school, the environment was great and so were the people there.

Tips for prospective students Get to know someone who lives in the dorms because they tend to have more events than the regular campus. Buy your textbooks online at Amazon, or rent them from chegg.com (or some other site). If you're buying them from the bookstores, compare online prices. Sometimes, the UTA Bookstore and The College Store have similar prices, but sometimes there's huge price gaps. Apply for financial aid as early as possible. UTA offers a grant called the Maverick Promise. If your family makes less than $65k a year, you'll qualify for the program, which will pay the rest of your tuition that the Federal Pell Grant doesn't cover. You do have to qualify for the Pell Grant before you qualify for the Maverick Promise. Try living in the dorms at least one year. Stick to the Bronze meal plan, as it will give you more cash and less meals. You use meals at the Connection Cafe, but you'll get tired of eating there for every meal after a while.
Bang for the buck With changes being made, and financial aid being cut, it's becoming less affordable for financial aid students. They recently took away the printing quota, and they're still charging new students with fees to help pay off the Mavericks Activity Center (MAC).
Am enjoying being here It's a great campus, and you will make plenty of friends.
Am learning a lot You will learn, whether you want to or not. Surprisingly enough, most of the things I talk about in everyday conversation were things I learned more about from my classes.

Bang for the buck If you want a excellent nursing or architecture program, UTA is the university for you!

Tips for prospective students Take what you need, be prepared to take short notes; don't copy word for word, get involved as much as you can. keep tabs on important things like tuition, schoolwork, etc., don't waste time partying or with other things, find time to study whenver you can.
Bang for the buck Definetely, everything is not overpriced plus if you need help financially with tution or such, the Financial aid office is gradly here to assist you in anyway.
Am enjoying being here I very much enjoy being here because it is so diverse and full of interesting things. I especially love the crazy events they have around the holidays like BED RACES. Also, I like how everyone is so much like a family, even though the majority of us don't quite know eachother yet. But overall, it is a great college to start of with. P.S.: They have great degree programs including Nursing, it is like the biggest program up here.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students UTA is great for students that like to challenge themselves, are looking into the health care field, and are interested in being a part of such a diverse community, there are people from all over the world!
Tips for prospective students I definitely advice to get ready for the culture shock. UTA is very diverse and I think it's amazing because it is always fun to get to know other cultures. The nursing program here is very competitive but one of the best I know of so if that is a considered major for anyone keep in that in mind. My last tip is to just be open minded and enjoy everyday and to use free time wisely.
Bang for the buck When students apply on time, there are many scholarships being offered to them which greatly helps. UTA also provides decent financial aid. Housing and meals can be a bit pricey but definitely worth the experience.
Am enjoying being here There are hundreds of organizations available, one for each and every unique student that attends this school. There are many organizations that work towards informing students of the diversity here and events are always being organized with the goal of making the process of getting to know each others peers more easy. I currently live on campus, which in my opinion is a huge advantage in getting involved and meeting all types of new people. The staff that work here are amazing and caring, they actually want their students to make the best of their education at UTA.
Am learning a lot UTA has plenty of classes that require critical thinking and complex questions that further expands the knowledge of students.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students The University of Texas at Arlington is great for all types of students as it is a great value and offers many opportunities for students to shine.
Tips for prospective students I recommend that prospective students of The University of Texas at Arlington get involved in the campus by joining clubs and organizations in order to build your resume and spread some school spirit! By being involved, relationships are formed that make the college experience much more fulfilling and memorable.
Bang for the buck Compared to the tuition rates of other national four year universities, The University of Texas at Arlington is a relatively affordable university with several majors and student activities to boost your resume and come out ahead.
Am enjoying being here One of the most popular attractions, and my favorite place at The University of Texas at Arlington is the Maverick Activity Center (MAC). This state of the art facility features an gym better than many of the gyms that I've payed for in the past. What makes this gym even better is that it's FREE to all students!!
Am learning a lot Thus far the majority of my professors at The University of Texas at Arlington are very helpful and respond quickly to any inquiries that I may have. In addition, my class projects have helped me develop valuable skills such as teamwork, time management, and presentation skills.

What to do for fun There is a lot to do for fun. Go to the library to research or read. Also there is a very nice Gym, which contains anything you ask for.
Dorm Life I have never attended the dorm life. But the housings look nice and roomy.
Tips for prospective students If students live in D/FW area I recommend them not to go to other Universities, especially if the program the student needs is available here.
In three sentences The University of Texas at Arlington is amazing. I love this campus because it is very efficient for me. This University is close to my home and work. The staff and professors are very friendly here at UT at Arlington.

Categories Comments Campus Safety uta police are everywhere. there are emergency stations all around campus. you have nothing to worry about.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus bed races are races across a football field. ooz ball is volleyball in the mud. campus traditions are the best way to get involved.
What to do for fun uta offers over 300 student organizations; get involved in something that interest you. join student council or a religious group or even go greek. there are endless opportunities.
Food and Dining uta has a cafe that is an all you can eat buffet for every meal! the plaza contains 4 very popular fast food restaurants with the convenience of being on campus. having a meal plans saves time and money.
Dorm Life living on campus for at least one year is the smartest thing you could do. it helps you get involved and meet many people. dorms allow you to really transition to the college life.
Academic Rigor academics are taken seriously and should be your number one priority, as they are the universities. study, your grades won't make themselves. whatever you do don't give up; your academics are your future.
Tips for prospective students at orientation stay on campus and don't let your high school gpa get the best of you. come to college with a fresh mind set of you can be anyone you want to be. be ready to study study study.
In three sentences uta is perfect. it isn't to big or to small; it is growing and will soon be a pier 1 school. the academics are held on very high standards; 10 out of 10.

Categories Comments What to do for fun there are a variety of places on campus for you to do. i usually go bowling and workout at the m.a.c. (mavericks activity center).
Food and Dining the connections cafe is packed during 11am-1pm, especially during 12pm-1pm because there's no class scheduled during this time, but the bright side is that the foods are healthy and delicious. best bet is to go to other places around the area to eat.
Dorm Life i commute so i wouldn't know how the dorm life is.
Academic Rigor it all depends on the professors and whether or not you decide to read the textbooks.
Tips for prospective students do your homework and for the commuters, if you do not wish to have early morning classes, you can always get to school and follow other people to their car and acquire their spot. food for thought.
In three sentences the campus is lively and classes are challenging! parking is a pain most of the time and i find myself picking early morning classes just to get a decent spot. finally, the university is very diverse with people from all walks of life and employs excellent professors!

In three sentences ut arlington is awesome, plain and simple. the school is diverse, and teachers are great, and it's an atmosphere a student would desire to be in. so far, i have nothing bad to say about uta because it's been a great experience so far.

Categories Comments Campus Safety there is a police call box every 20 meters and an escort service after 7pm. also, if there are any incidents on campus they are posted in public places so everyone can be aware.
Great for these types of students whether you're a loner or a crowd kind of person this school fits anyone.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus in the university center, there is a bust of e.h. hereford who students rub with their left hands on when there's a tough test coming up. his head is very shiny.
Bang for the buck uta is pretty good about money. being in the architecture program i'm going to be needing a lot of extra materials, and they won't come cheap. however there are various options for where to get things, around here in arlington so it's never to much of a hassle. the only thing i can't decide whether it's worth it is the meal plan. even on the cheapest one, you still pay a little over $2,000 for both semesters. you do get 150 meals per semester and $350 dining dollars for semester which are redeemable at starbucks or in the plaza.
What to do for fun uta is lucky to have a body of students who always host everything. there are always, flyers and signs up about plays or comedy acts. once a semester there is even a big concert, and in the spring there is the bash. there's always food being either handed out or at a cheap price, so there's never a dull moment on campus.
Food and Dining the food is great. there's really nothing better than having pizza and cheeseburgers at your beck and call. however there are options for the vegetarians out there, as the staff will even change gloves when handling your food. if you ever tire of the food in the cafe, then there is always the plaza where you can find pizza hut, chick-fil-a, panda express, and even subway.
Dorm Life i live on campus in trinity house. the dorm is small, but really the only one where you can get a true sense of community.
Academic Rigor i'm in the school of architecture. of course it's rigorous, but it's also worth it.
Tips for prospective students apply early. talk to as many people as possible, but most of all enjoy it!
In three sentences a wonderful school, with merited professors, tons of things to do both on and off campus and an attitude that truly allows you to push your limits.

Categories Comments Campus Safety i must seriously congratulate this school on its efforts towards student safety. uta has an amazing group of police officers who really take student safety to heart. if a crime occurs on or near the campus you will very shortly have an email in your inbox describing what the situation was, where it happened, at what time, and a description of the people involved. they are constantly testing their emergency equipment and communication services. there are assistance/emergency phone towers almost anywhere you look. the school shuttle passes by every 15 minutes to take you to all areas of the campus, and after shuttle hours there are police escorts to take you anywhere you need to get to on campus. the only reason campus safety is not 5 stars is because once you're off the campus you really should be careful where you go. 5-10 miles in any direction and you can wind up in a not-so-great area.
Greek Life no personal experience on this subject. sorry.
Clubs and Activities there's plenty of activities going on and plenty of clubs to join. just do a little research and you'll find something to fit into.
Great for these types of students anyone in search of higher education. i think the only types of students it would not be suited for would be those in search of a major college experience. those students who have football games and huge campus rivalries in mind (like ut or uf) might be disillusioned. this is definitely a type of campus that induces learning, not partying.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus mud-volleyball. not sure how it works, but apparently it happens once a year and kids get really really dirty.
Bang for the buck i can't say for certain since i have not done an extended research on this topic but i would say it's pretty average and reasonable.
What to do for fun there's a bowling alley and pool hall on campus. the planetarium plays movies every few days for about $2 and then there's also the occasional free movies that are played some outdoors on the campus. there's always a basketball (or other athletic) game, a play, music recital, comedy show, a concert, a speech or some kind of activity going on around campus. the posters for these kinds of things are everywhere, you can't miss it.
Food and Dining the sushi restaurant is my favorite. there are quite a few options for dining, but they're not the healthiest and therefore do not meet my standards. other students love it though. there's a pizza hut, chick-fil-a, subway, einstein's, panda express, the meal-plan cafeteria area and also a small food market store. again, not the healthiest of options.
Dorm Life i have not experienced dorm life settings. most students i know commute to uta.
Academic Rigor i wouldn't say it's harvard, but the expectations are certainly pretty high at the university of texas arlington. come prepared to learn otherwise you might fall behind.
Tips for prospective students meet with your advisors frequently to make sure you are on track or do not have holds on your accounts. always start early, whether is shopping for books, parking, studying, or financial aid. there are thousands of students trying to get the all the same things and the early birds definitely get the worm.
In three sentences incredibly diverse campus. tons of programs and organizations to get involved in. great faculty and campus-setting that truly cares about the success of its students.

Categories Comments Campus Safety i never had a problem, but there are a lot of emails from campus safety about assaults, thefts; and the area around the campus is shady.
Greek Life there is a large greek presence on campus, but i did not participate in it.
Clubs and Activities something for everyone.
Great for these types of students people who can't or won't leave the state for one reason or another, students who didn't get into ut austin, maybe nursing students. the smart hospital is supposed to be nice.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus oozeball and bed races! check out the gym too, they have great classes.
Bang for the buck cheap as hell, and it's a degree, right? they seem to be fairly free with scholarships.
What to do for fun drink?
Food and Dining kinda freaky, but they do have a chick fil a.
Dorm Life don't really know (i lived off campus) but people don't seem to complain too much.
Academic Rigor easy breezy. it's certainly not up to the level of ut austin. study departments are balkanized pretty bad, and most students won't know what balkanized means.
Tips for prospective students don't expect a college town. don't expect teachers to be invested, most of them were recently grad or phd students, and aren't that into it. they do have a nice gym.
In three sentences not an academically rigorous school. don't go to health services if you value your life. play oozeball!

Categories Comments Campus Safety i don't see many cops around and frequently hear about people getting robbed off campus and in parking lots.
Greek Life strong. i see support for groups everywhere and they always have barbecue fundraisers.
Clubs and Activities lots of great clubs to join. there are always meeting that give free food.
Great for these types of students people who want to do more work and study more than socialize.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus oozeball. bunch of kids play a game and get covered in mud.
Bang for the buck cheapest university around.
What to do for fun go to the mall, join clubs, party.
Food and Dining lots of good places to eat in cafeteria and nearby.
Dorm Life never move into a dorm. real apartments nearby are a lot cheaper.
Academic Rigor some teachers are really full of themselves and want to make life hard for you, others are still going to graduate school and want you to do as much work as they do.
Tips for prospective students do not move into a university dorm or apartment. people you invite over could do something stupid and get you on disiplinary probation for a year.
In three sentences they have a nice campus. people are not really friendly. it's located in a convenient part of town with a lot of stores nearby.

Categories Comments What to do for fun usually the campus is dead on the weekend so most likely to have fun you need to leave the campus. the campus is located to many fun places but you have to have money, if you dont then you will most likely be staying in and doing your homework that is due in two weeks.
Food and Dining the food is edible, i am not picky unlike most of my friends. if you can not take high school cafe food then most likely you will dislike our cafe food. they have good selections about once a week, other than that its mostly the same stuff constantly.
Dorm Life depends on which dorm you live in. my dorm is very active on the weekends, everyone here is friendly and makes you laugh. it is nice to live on campus because so many events occur.
Academic Rigor all courses here have a challenge. the math department is very challenging here for reasons i do not know why yet. getting good grades take alot of time and effort, you will be studying often. i am in engineering and i study about 20-30 hours a week.
Tips for prospective students make sure you know what you want to do, here people give up to easily, that is most likely why we have a low graduation rate. if you come here then you need to be serious about your education, the atmosphere is competition most of the time.
In three sentences the college is very beautiful and they go all out when it comes to constructing new buildings here. the people here can be antisocial often and this i dislike because i am very social. when you need help i advise you email the president because some of the faculty workers could care less about you.

Tips for prospective students you should attend one of the orientation of this school to get more information before apply for this. also, the faculties staffs are friendly. so, go ahead and ask what you want to know.

Categories Comments What to do for fun meet up in the library or sleep.
Food and Dining the food here is average with couple fast food joints inside you can buy using cash or dine in dollars. i gained 20 lbs. while i attended arlington which was only a year. when i moved back home i lost all those lbs. there are a lot of variety and it's a all you can eat format so you're bound to gain weight.
Dorm Life i lived in kalpana chawla which was the newest dorm when i attended. not sure if it still is. anyways, it was also the dorm that had fig. dorm life could have been better. the hallways here dead and you'd rarely find people standing outside socializing. the only positive about living in the dorm was that i could wake up five mins. before class and still manage to get there on time. was it worth the 5000 dollar price tag? no.
Academic Rigor the academics here aren't that challenging. i barely went to class and still made as. a caution for those taking math is to take it somewhere else. the tests are made by the department with select professors on the board so no review is given other than read the book.
Tips for prospective students orientation is mandatory so make the most of it. come with an open mind because i realized that there are a lot of different kinds of people.
In three sentences an easy going school with a great nursing program. people are great but you have to make an effort to reach out. academics could be better.

Clubs and Activities activities such as most or all sports, gameing, etc.
Bang for the buck stuff to do all around for a good price.
What to do for fun i havent done much there yet since i am not yet attending, but they have swimming pools, brand new gym, basketball area, gameing room, and more of what i heard.
Food and Dining been to the buffet area 1 time, and the food is great, dining is good. etc.
Dorm Life i havent been in a dorm before.
Academic Rigor great people who want to learn and a very confrotable environment.
Tips for prospective students search for a school that offers great plans or programs over degrees you want to achieve.

Categories Comments Campus Safety uta alerts are always sending out messages, so i would say i feel pretty safe here. there are call boxes at various locations on campus as well.
Clubs and Activities there are a lot of clubs and i'm always seeing something that catches my eye.
Bang for the buck i guess it is, most my tuition is paid for scholarship so i can't complain.
What to do for fun join clubs/organizations on campus, there are a ton and they are always planning exciting events.
Food and Dining as a vegan, i have to say it's horrible. the only options i have are subway or fries from chick fil a. i would appreciate being able to have a healthy meal once in a while, but i can only find that off campus.
Dorm Life i can't say much about this because i'm a commuter.
Academic Rigor for the most part it is not too bad. 1000 and 2000 level classes are pretty easy, 1000 is especially easy. when you get to 3000 level classes, you can feel the difference, and things are not so easy anymore.
Tips for prospective students avoid getting a meal plan because the food is horrible if you're a vegetarian/vegan plan on packing your lunch they take math courses seriously, so study hard
In three sentences uta is the perfect sized campus, not too large and not too small. we are lacking in some areas such as variety of courses offered and food options, but the staff here is for the most part really great. i would uta is a fairly good school.

Categories Comments What to do for fun fun? where? when? Unless you're taking the semester off or you're insomniac there will be no time for fun.
Food and Dining Good variety but I really wish there was Mc donalds.
Dorm Life No comment.
Academic Rigor Seems okay...however some as you go higher in some classes things sseem repetitive. And some professors are so bad....they don,t even know the material they're teaching sometimes. Not mention 3 out my 4 classes were taught by graduate students who were impatient and lack understanding and seem to direct their stress towards the class.
Tips for prospective students If you're accustomed to city life and studying on your own...this is the university for you.
In three sentences My experience with this university as an international student has been very stressful. The classes are huge, professors are unhelpful and students themselves are unfriendly. And parking sucks.

Categories Comments Campus Safety We are periodically emailed and informed of any incident that we may need to be aware of.
Clubs and Activities Large amount of clubs to pick from. There are some for almost every major, clubs to stay fit, or just for fun! You can also start your own!!
Great for these types of students Any type!! I can promise you will find your group of people here, the school is highly diverse.
What to do for fun The campus has various options. I love to go rock climbing, at the MAC (Mavericks Activity Center.) they also have bowling and billiards!!
Food and Dining There are many fast food places walking distance from the campus, and the University also provides a large selection of food and places where you can also purchase food on campus
Dorm Life Is very motivational, and if you ever have issues you can always talk to a Resident Assistant about any issue, and they are more than happy to help you.
Academic Rigor It is not an easy transition, college involves complete dedication and the willingness to study, but as long as you focus and study extensively, you will do great.
Tips for prospective students As long you are willing to work hard, and seek help in any aspect that you need; success is guaranteed.
In three sentences They made my experience coming out of high school very smooth. The entire staff, from professors to the financial aid offices; everyone is willing and excited to help. Definitely a University worth coming to.

Clubs and Activities The recreation center is amazing and I was told for $2o a month you can take unlimited yoga classes, spinning, etc.! They also have a cool bowling alley and a pool! It's like a little town they have everything.
Food and Dining They have so many places to choose from but the hours are insane.
Dorm Life I'm not living in a dorm but from what I saw they looked good.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus police regularly post warnings about criminal activity. The area around campus is not known for its safety, but I have walked in the area at night without any trouble.
Greek Life I am not familiar with fraternities or sororities, but I do know that they are willing to recruit first year students.
Clubs and Activities There are many different types of groups to join, many of which are religious. For some reason, this university is not big about civic participation, for the most part. If you are looking for a school that encourages protests, voicing opinion and dissent, etc, you will be disappointed by UTA.
Great for these types of students Commuter students, those who prefer a suburban lifestyle as opposed to an urban or countercultural one.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Bed Races and Rubbing Hereford's Head.
Bang for the buck Tuition here is around $14,000 a year. Living on campus adds to this, obviously. Be warned that this university will nickel and dime you over many different things. Metered parking, for example, is in effect on weekdays from 7 AM to 11 PM, and dorm students are charged lock out fees (for forgetting their card and/or room key), even during emergencies.
What to do for fun There really is not a lot to do besides the events that student groups put on, such as bake sales, plays, film nights, etc.
Food and Dining Very little variety. The Food Court consists of Chick-fil-A, a small scale sushi bar, a Pizza Hut Express, a Subway and a Panda Express. There's also an Einstein Brothers' location in the Fine Arts building. However, all of them are more expensive than their off campus counterparts. For example, the on-campus Chick-fil-A wants $3.09 for a chicken sandwich, whereas the other Arlington locations want $2.85 and $2.89. This may not sound like a lot, but it is when you are a) trying to spend as little as possible and/or b) stuck on campus, and it quickly adds up. There is also a Café, but it is overpriced unless you have a meal plan, which you must buy if you live in certain dorms. (More on that later.) The quality of the food is better than standard high school fare, but it is not gourmand, either. The largest variety of options comes during lunch and dinner, with limited service for most of the afternoon, and is mostly limited to burgers and pizza. As for meal plans, certain students are required to buy a meal plan. (How this is legal, I am not sure.) All of them cost more than $1,000 and are composed of Dining Dollars (used at the Food Court) and meals at the Café. Due to the expense of the Food Court, you can run out of Dollars quickly. For example, I have less than $75 left out of my original $350, and it is not even the start of April yet. Another problem with the food service is that the University does not do a good job of managing crowds during lunch hour, so virtually everyone gets lunch around noon. This, in turn, creates huge crowds at both the Food Court and the Café. If possible, eat before 12 PM or at 1 PM or after to avoid the crowds. There is no service after 10:30 PM, Monday-Thursday and after 7 PM on Friday, which limits dining choices for on campus students. There is limited Café service on weekends.
Dorm Life Very, very little to do, especially on weekends. There are arbitrary rules that can impact your lifestyle, such as only being able to have so large of a refrigerator, which means you can only store so much food for when the Food Court and Café are closed. There is a bus that will take you around campus and to the Parks Mall on Saturdays, otherwise, there is no other public transport available. There is also a short-term car rental service, but its costs can quickly add up. This is why I strongly recommend having predictable transportation options before you move to live on campus here. The dorms only put on limited events on a periodic basis. Around UTA itself, there is very little to do or see, and a good portion of the city's shopping is around Cowboys Stadium, which can be an expensive place to shop and dine. All of the real cultural activities are in Dallas, Fort Worth, or Denton, and going to those cities can take a lot of time and money to just get there. On the good side, however, the dorms are very cost-effective, as they include free utilities, including Wifi internet, and free laundry. The newer halls offer both shared rooms and suites with individual bedrooms, but these cost much more than a shared room.
Academic Rigor The education here is good, and there are plenty of resources to help you out if you are struggling, especially for first year students. I have yet to deal with a stereotypically boring professor here, as all the ones I have encountered are enthusiastic, relaxed, and honestly know what they are doing, with the exception of one math lab aid. Read the assigned materials, and when you pick a class to take, please make sure that you will be genuinely interested in it, or you will not be nearly as motivated to do well in it compared to someone who does like the material.
Tips for prospective students *Find a student group that matches your interests, or create one if there isn't one. *Show your professors that you are committed to the classes you are taking. *Have a reliable method of transportation to get to things off campus. *Get ready to be exposed to different cultures in ways that you may not be used to.
In three sentences The education here is of a very high quality, and the professors are very professional in their work. However, I would NOT recommend living on campus here unless you already have a car, as this place does not have a lot to do during the weekend and there is no bus system in Arlington.

Categories Comments Campus Safety They have placed all over campus tall police call stations, and police are always driving around campus. Also, if something happens they notify students by calling their phones, an e-mail, &/or text message, & announcement over some of the speakers.
What to do for fun They're are so many school events constantly happening every week. Just make plans to go to one with a friend(s) and you'll be sure to have fun!
Food and Dining So many choices of food and at good prices too!
Dorm Life I don't live in a dorm, but from what I hear from my friends that do, they enjoy it. Though, it can be a little pricey.
Academic Rigor If you stay dedicated, work hard, & keep to your studies it's pretty easy. They focus on helping you strive and offer free tutor sessions and other groups or gatherings to help with academics.
Tips for prospective students Plan to work hard but to also have fun and get involved. So many opportunities offered in your specific choice of major, and all the staff and students are super nice!
In three sentences In my second semester and I love the school. It's really easy to get involved and join in with others (who are very nice) on school spirit. Also, they offer many programs to join, and to help improve your academic studies.

Food and Dining They need more food to choose from and they also need to make it more affordable for college students.

Academic Rigor Has a variety of majors to choose from, but most popular is nursing.
Tips for prospective students If you are looking for a nursing program to apply to beware of UTA. Their program is competitive.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Dorm and police escorts if you are out and about in the evening. Give warnings and alerts to students through e-mail or phone about criminal acts around campus.
Greek Life They don't seem violent or to cause much disturbance since they are not on the front page of newspapers. Take pride in the Greek traditions. No hazing!
Great for these types of students Athletes International Students Greek life (hopefuls) Dancers All that want a good education
Bang for the buck They try to stretch every dollar. The only down side is that we pay for printing. On the upside we did not get a tuition increase for the coming year due to the diligence of the university president and student leadership.
What to do for fun On campus there seems to be plenty of social club events, theatre performances, concerts held on campus, basketball games, intramural sports and frisbee golf with friends.
Food and Dining Has a campus store for snacks. Chick-fil-A, Subway, and Sushi are available too.
Dorm Life Newly built and some newly renovated. Nice way to meet and make new friends.
Academic Rigor Most professors are upstanding individuals that make you earn your grade in their class. Come out feeling more knowledgeable.
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus first. When going to get advising make sure you have questions before hand to get answered. Go to different social gatherings on campus to see what clubs or organizations you would like to be involved in.
In three sentences This school has a diverse student population. Involved in the community around the campus. Also supports their student athletes.

Categories Comments Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Oozeball - mud volleyball...it's so much fun to see people fall in the mud while attempting to play volleyball. College Garden - it's so peaceful and beautiful there...plus it's behind a dormitory so not that many people know it exists
Bang for the buck It is a really cool place to be. At first, I didn't like it here, but now I love it.
What to do for fun Go to the malls, go visit the different cities around like Dallas and Fort Worth, go to the movie theatre, go clubbing, go drinking, and meet people from all over the world.
Food and Dining The food is pretty good. There is a cafe that serves food ranging from simple pizza to gourmet. There is also a plaza with Subway, Panda Express, Chick-fil-a, Pizza Hut, Sushi stand, Noodle Hut, and snacks. We also have two markets, Starbucks, and a Bagel place.
Dorm Life It is a lot of fun because most of the people on your floor are just as new to dorm life as you are. They all want to make friends.
Academic Rigor The classes increase or decrease in academic rigor according to your major. So if you're a science major then your courses are more time-consuming than a business major's or an art major's. But all courses challenge your mind so don't expect a roller coaster ride.
Tips for prospective students Stay in the dorms; it is a lot easier to make friends that way.
In three sentences It is a culturally diverse university. It is very safe and there are few to no crimes around the Arlington area. It is not too big and not too small.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Safety is really good at UTA officers do their best to help out students. UTA police even provide a shuttle service late at night for students needing to get around safely.
Clubs and Activities There are tons of clubs such as spirit clubs, dance teams, just so many to choose from. Over 300 organizations there's just about room for anyone!
Great for these types of students Science and Engineering students do really well here. Students looking for a really good education should definitely check it out.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Oozeball is the annual event hosted by UTA which is a mud volleyball tournament. Also the bed races are an awesome tradition where teams get together and race beds on the school football field.
Bang for the buck Out of all the sister schools in the UT system I think UTA is the best for your buck. They try really hard to keep costs down and if anything does go up, its never by much.
What to do for fun Cowboys stadium is always a big attraction as well at the Rangers ballpark, Sixflags, and Hurricane Harbor, Cowboys dance hall. and The Parks at Arlington offers the best shopping around.
Food and Dining There is Panda, Chick-fil-a, Subway, Sushi chic, and pizza hut as well as two fully operating starbucks on campus that are always busy and making fresh food.
Dorm Life There are so many dorms and university apartments to choose from. The school has really gone out of its way to accommodate students. If dorm life isn't for you there are tons of apartments in the surrounding area.
Academic Rigor UTA lives up to its growing reputation. It's great to be a part of all the research going around. It is really nice to be so close to a state of the art research facility right down the street.
Tips for prospective students Start studying in the library way before finals come around. First year is always the toughest.
In three sentences This is a top notch school! The school is always growing and there is so much to do! The faculty and staff are always very helpful and eager to assist students.

Categories Comments Campus Safety They may be good at enforcing the smoke ban but the campus police suck at actual police work. Cars are broken into daily and night-time muggings are commonplace. If you're having a late night at the library, bring a friend or a gun.
Greek Life I wouldn't know.
Clubs and Activities They are a ridiculous amount of itramural teams. The university owns several sporting venues and fields, so there's always some kind of competition being held.
Great for these types of students Do you want to continue your education while staying close to DFW? This is the place for you, then.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Everybody goes to see the Texas Rangers play and then discusses the outcome of their games during class. Also, Bed Races and mud wars.
Bang for the buck You get access to quite a bit for what you pay. UTA is a standard university in that regard.
What to do for fun Join the Russian culture society! The cultural society wars are rigorous and we need more soldiers! In all seriousness though, join one of the cultural societies. There are plenty to choose from and every event put together is memorable. Also, if you want to kill time between classes, you can bowl at the UC foronly $5 an hour! That's shoe rental and everything!
Food and Dining The University Center has a variety of meal options. I prefer the prepackaged sushi, myself.
Dorm Life I have never- nor will I ever- live on a dorm. They are, by definition, crummy.
Academic Rigor This college is no more difficult than any other. Pay attention during lecture and study your course materials, and you'll not feel too taxed.
Tips for prospective students Either quit smoking before you enrolled here or brush up on your ninja skills. The entirety of the campus is nonsmoking and they enforce it without hesitation. Also, I recommend getting a skateboard/longboard to cut down travel times between classes. The campus is very spread out.
In three sentences UTA features a wide, open campus complete with cigarette Nazis, nighttime muggings, and some rather insane club members. The professors are competent, the class selection is flexible, and the price is less than you'd expect. All in all, its an average Texas University with close proximity to the major city.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Great!
Greek Life IT's very involved and they always have activities.
Clubs and Activities There's pretty much one for any type of person and they're small or little they're still very involved around campus and the DFW metroplex area.
Great for these types of students Studious, but also fun-loving!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Rubbing E.H. Hereford's head in the UC before an exam is good luck. Bed Races! Oozeball (Volleyball in the mud) for a cause!
Bang for the buck It is definitely worth what we are paying for. Tuition is on a flat rate basis and it's not super expensive since we don't have a massive football team to pay for.
What to do for fun There's always great opportunities for free outings, and there are always discounts for students for a Texas Rangers game or a local concert for free at the Levitt Pavilion. There's always free movies that are on a big screen, which is perfect for a picnic!
Food and Dining The cafeteria we have is amazing! It's a buffet and it has a whole bunch of different choices, even vegetarian.
Dorm Life It's mostly commuter students, but the staff at the halls usually has a lot of cool activities for students.
Academic Rigor Your major requires a lot of core classes and it's hard to keep up with your GPA and satisfying the school requirements, but it's essential so it's a lot better than most universities.
Tips for prospective students Register early for classes so you get what you want at the times you want, and always wait to buy your books because most professors don't always use them-any of them. Also, get involved or else you'll get bored with just school.
In three sentences It's a small campus, so the student population is almost like a family; everyone you see if usually a familiar face. I'm in the school of architecture, so It's very hard for me to find time to participate in the activities; nonetheless, UTA always has great activities so whenever I have free time I make sure to attend our great events. The advisement isn't as great, but it's always best to seek advisement.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There is a lot to do on campus for fun. Every year, there is an ooze-ball competition, which is great fun. There are a lot of student groups, sororities, or fraternities to join, which help students interact.
Food and Dining There is a great variety of places to eat on campus such as subway, panda express, Einstein bagels, and more!
Dorm Life It is really easy to make friends at UTA and dorm life is a great way to do it.
Academic Rigor As a nursing major, there is a lot of competition. It takes a lot of work to stay ahead and ensure your spot in the nursing school. It's definitely not easy.
Tips for prospective students The University of Texas at Arlington is a tough and competitive school! It takes a lot of hard work and rigorous studying in order to stay ahead of the competition, but there are also many other fun things to do on campus. There are many student groups to join and everyone is very friendly. Also, every year, there is an ooze-ball competition, which is awesome! UTA provides great opportunities and is a school that you'll be glad to be a part of.
In three sentences The University of Texas at Arlington is a school that provides a variety of majors for students to explore their interests and discover their profession. Class sizes vary from 20 to 300 students and there are multiple times available for each course, allowing flexibility. The environment is perfect for concentrating on studying, whether its in one of the libraries or in a study room.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus takes safety issues very seriously, meaning that they have a great safety system. You will find emergency call stations all over campus and can call at any time for a ride if you feel you are not comfortable walking alone.
What to do for fun There are always things to do on campus, whether it be movie screenings or block parties, one will never be bored.
Food and Dining If you purchase the meal plan, you can experience various different types of food in the cafeteria. Besides that, there is a food court that has a number of fast food choices to choose from open at convenient hours.
Dorm Life I live in an apartment, so it may be different than the actual dorm life. However, UTA offers many options for living arrangements as well as fun activities on campus.
Academic Rigor There is a lot more work than we are used to high school, but by no means does it mean it is impossible or even highly difficult; it simply takes some extra time and effort.
Tips for prospective students Prospective students, I advise that you all both get used to and take full advantage of the diversity as it offers many advantages. Also, don't trust the campus book store, they will rip you off. It may be better to purchase books online.
In three sentences The University of Texas at Arlington is a school for everyone, having an array of different classes supporting almost any major. The cultural as well as other diversity at the university is enormous, and also important because it makes for a more well-rounded student population and acts as a catalyst to our development and education. Another thing that UTA encompasses, and that is often overlooked, is the small class sizes, making it an ideal place to obtain a quality education.

Greek Life present
Clubs and Activities 300+
Great for these types of students Nursing, engineering, architecture, and glass blowing
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Brazos House
Bang for the buck *The Rangers ballpark and Cowboys stadium are located nearby. *Also, UTA is great at bringing big name artists for their yearly concerts. 2009=maroon 5, 2010= B.O.B, 2011=Drake. The Drake tickets were the most expensive at $65/ person for floor seats.
What to do for fun The school is located in the middle of the DFW area, so there are a lot of things to do. Go dancing, to the movies, etc..but in order to get around you need a car because arlington does not have public transportation
Food and Dining Not the best food. Don't buy the platinum meal plan
Dorm Life The residence halls are not state of the art, but the people are really cool. I made a lot of friends and there have been a lot of good times. Unfortunately, a lot of students leave campus for the weekend.
Academic Rigor * I am a nursing student and the main courses are pretty tough.
Tips for prospective students *use ratemyprofessor.com when picking your teachers. *Get a copy of any official documents you turn in or payments that you make. *bring rainboots!
In three sentences tuition is low and you receive a good education. The only thing is that the school is more interested in becoming a tier 1 school than helping its students.

Categories Comments Greek Life The Greeks are well known on campus. We recently crossed over the Iota Fraternity. Most of the Greeks are very into community service as well as academic excellence because there is a standard that must be kept in order to stay in.
Clubs and Activities There are several clubs and activities that anyone can join.
What to do for fun There are intermural sports, Greek events, movie nights, concerts, the list is endless. There's always something fun going on at UTA.
Food and Dining The food is well cooked and always has you wanting more. Also they have a marketplace as well as a dining area so if you don't want fast food then you can always get the home-cooked meal from the Connection Cafe.
Dorm Life I lived on campus and it was amazing. There were always events going on in the dorms, and the people living there are very nice. The RA's (Residential Assistant) are always willing to help and do their job very well. You get to know several people in the dorms and make countless amounts of friends.
Academic Rigor Some classes can be tough but if you study and pay attention in class then there's nothing that you can't accomplish.
Tips for prospective students If you're a socially open person then this is the place for you. Its very diverse and full of new and exciting things to do and learn.
In three sentences The school is amazing, and on a scale of one to ten I'd give it an eight. The professors are well rounded and fluent in their studies, and there are resources all over campus that can help you if you don't understand something in class. Also there are many clubs and events that you can participate in.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I feel pretty safe on campus. They offer a security escort at night to drive you to your car or across campus. There has been a couple stolen cell phones and minor crimes though.
Greek Life They are pretty big on this. There are a ton of frats and sororities that don't have houses. Not really my thing, but if you're into you have plenty of options.
Clubs and Activities This is up to you, get involved and have fun! Your time at the university is limited! They have plenty of options.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus They have a bed race every year. It's really weird. There are teams and you have a bed on wheels and race.. Also during finals week they have $3 breakfast for dinner.
Bang for the buck It is one of the cheaper universities, and in some ways that is apparent. Basically you should take advantage of the things they offer, like the gym is free (well comes out of tuition) and really nice. The shuttles are also really convenient and underused.
What to do for fun There are very few university hosted fun events, but hopefully that will change with the college park center they've built. Arlington has some fun things to do but other than that Dallas and Ft Worth aren't too far.
Food and Dining They have pretty limited options, especially limited with healthy options. If you enjoy eating fast food, cafeteria food, or packaged convenience store food, than you should be fine. The little healthy options they have are incredibly over priced. I rarely eat on campus.
Dorm Life Not many people stay in the dorms, however there are plenty of close to campus apartments that are nice. I love living near campus. It makes it much easier to stay focused and involved.
Academic Rigor Like any college this depends on your major, but in general it is rigorous as college should be. I am in the engineering department since it is ABET certified, it is very rigorous.
Tips for prospective students Deadlines, deadlines, deadlines!!! Make sure you fill out the right stuff at the right time to help with financial issues and to make your college career flow smoother. I suggest living close to campus too, it really helps you feel like part of the community.
In three sentences Overall I am really enjoying my time here. It isn't that big of a school, but it is what you make of it. You have to make an effort to feel part of the UTA community though since so many people commute.

Categories Comments Greek Life Greek life is small but growing on campus! I'm a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. Greek life is a great way to make friends and connections when you get older.
Great for these types of students Just like at any other school, grades will not be handed to you so determined and willing students will do great at this university.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus At the Library Mall there is always some sort of booth set up. These range from selling donuts and hot chocolate to huge protest-like things.
What to do for fun There's plenty of local things to do around UTA. As you get older the bar/night life is very fun and a great way to meet people who are similar to you in multiple ways.
Food and Dining I don't eat on campus.
Dorm Life I don't live in a dorm or on campus.
Academic Rigor Don't ever overload yourself with more classes than you can handle. Doing well in college is very rewarding. Be sure to stay busy and ontop of things though, you never want to have wasted time.
Tips for prospective students Get to know your professors, especially in your smaller classes. Do not ever procrasinate. Also, be sure to study and don't be afraid of all-nighters; they become your best friend.
In three sentences I love attending UTA because of all the different options they give you for class times, professors, etc. The advisors are all extremely nice and helpful no matter what your major may be. Making friends isn't too hard either because there is a very diverse student body that attends there.

Great for these types of students Non-traditional students, working students and commuters.

Bang for the buck Best nursing program in terms of cost in Texas!
What to do for fun There's so much to do in DFW. I couldn't begin to describe all the fun things to do. But Six Flags and a nice mall are all nearby.
Food and Dining I've actually never set foot on campus. I've done everything online!
Dorm Life I've actually never set foot on campus. I've done everything online!
Academic Rigor Top notch. I have degrees from two other major Texas universities and this school is absolutely an equal in terms of academic rigor.
Tips for prospective students Check out the online programs. You don't have to drive to Arlington for many of the degrees

Categories Comments Campus Safety UTA has a very active police force, and with well-lit walkways, there never seems to be that much worry of danger.
Great for these types of students commuter, math/science oriented, students looking for a cheaper uni equivalent
Bang for the buck I'm very impressed with where UTA's going, with renovations and increasingly legitimate academia. The best part of UTA is that it is what you make of it. If you're looking for a home away from home, you found it. And if you're just looking for a commuter school for credits, UTA meets those needs as well.
What to do for fun Arlington is right in between Fort Worth and Dallas, so if you're willing to drive, you can find about any scene/event you could hope for. But as far as on-campus activities, you'll find mostly the stereotypical college fare. Movie nights and frat fights if you're into that, intramural sports if you're not.
Food and Dining UTA is being helped out greatly by an expanding dining scene in downtown Arlington, because there are not many options on campus. The University Center has separate eating areas for food plan members and the rest of us, and while there is a small diversity of options, many would appreciate a wider culinary range.
Dorm Life On-campus living at UTA is in the process of upgrading, but still has a long way to go. Many of the older dorms are cramped and gaunt. There are new on-campus apartments being developed that have much promise, however.
Academic Rigor UTA is trying to establish itself as a premier public university in Texas, and as such, has increasingly difficult programs. While this rigor might be discouraging at first, it's advantageous to belong to a department with higher standards.
Tips for prospective students This is still largely a commuter school, so you may have to be proactive in finding friends/study buddies. And the campus is huge, so ask people where the best places to park are, and where to avoid.
In three sentences I would call UTA a work-in-progress. The facilities have improved within the few years I've been attending, and the quality of staff seems to be on the incline. Also, if you want the traditional college experience, you can find it here.

Food and Dining I hear the food is good. Never been to the campus.
Dorm Life They say the dorms are good. I do all my studies online though.
Academic Rigor It's intense but you get what you pay for.

On campus there's a plethora of events, clubs, and organizations to get involved in.
Food and Dining With the wide selection of food on campus, makes it nearly impossible for students to get tired of college food, and what's even better, it's very affordable.
Dorm Life The dorms look great! Everything seems clean and well placed, making it easy to get from your dorm to class.
Academic Rigor From what everyone says the academics are tough, and from how my adviser describes it, it's no walk in the park.
Tips for prospective students Always make sure you have your stuff together because, one deadlines sneak up on you, and time will run short on you if you wait too late.

Tips for prospective students Get started early. Make sure to learn as much as you can and apply for everything well before the deadlines.
In three sentences The University of Texas at Arlington has a beautiful campus in an ideal location. The scholastic and recreation facilities on campus are amazing, with many ways to stay in shape, mentally and physically. There is always something going on at UTA, and always something to look forward to.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The have on-side campus police for safety which offers rides throughout the campus after dark as well as many other forms of assistance. They also have emergency kiosks throughout the campus for quick assistance.
Greek Life There are quite a few fraternities and sororities to select from. The University has recently undergone a complete renovation and remodel, so everything is fresh and clean.
Clubs and Activities They have clubs and student organizations of all kinds. We were told that if there is something you are interested in that does not already have a club, they will help you create one.
Great for these types of students If you are interested in engineering or nursing specifically, they offer a top notch and highly competitive program at a very affordable price. Of course, they have a great number of other degrees to choose from and attract students from around the world as well as a large number of military veterans.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus They have bed races and Oozie Ball, which is a mud volleyball game. They look like fun!
Bang for the buck They have maintained their tuition pricing, while most colleges have undergone a tuition increase in the past five years.
What to do for fun There are a vast number of activities and student organizations to get involved in. Truly there is something for everyone!
Food and Dining They have a lot to choose from, both in the cafe as well as stand alone restaurants. So far, everything I have tried has been yummy!
Dorm Life Vandergriff Hall will be opening for the Fall Term. I am thrilled to be part of the first round of students living there!
Academic Rigor Everyone I have spoken with, from students to professors, has really emphasized how difficult and time consuming the engineering program will be throughout all four years.
Tips for prospective students Attend orientation as early as possible to ensure you are able to get the classes you want and a schedule you can live with.
In three sentences The campus is wonderful and the students I have met are very down to earth. They have done a terrific job of preparing me for what to expect and the realities that I will be faced with through orientation and student leaders. I am really looking forward to attending this fall.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I'm slightly paranoid, and in my book you can NEVER be to safe. (:
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The students have a habit of rubbing this statues head for good-luck I am not sure if it works but I do know its done quite often.
Bang for the buck The school Is relatively inexpensive, but I would still suggest applying for all the scholarships you can get because who does not want free money? Ha ha, and your a college student your going to want to buy stuff, just remember to be frugal and you will be alright.
What to do for fun Like I said before Rangers stadium, Cowboys stadium, Six-Flags over Texas, and Hurricane Harbor are relatively close. However the school host concerts with those such as Drake and Rhianna. They also have $2 movies and so forth so there is always something to do.
Food and Dining The food is decent, I mean especially for those who have to live in a dorm and must get a meal plan. But I would rather not eat it everyday, however I would not mind if i had to, If that makes any sense. However upstairs they do have chick-fil-a and so that is an automatic 10 in my book. (:
Dorm Life I can't really comment on this because I'm living in an on campus apartment, but i have stayed in them and they seem pretty nice. I just don't like the fact that you have to have a meal plan if staying in them and I don't like sharing so i wouldn't want to share with a random ha ha.
Academic Rigor The University is big on academic rigor and how can they help their students succeed. Although the classes might seem hard ESPECIALLY if you are going into either the field of engineering or business, you just have to take it one step at a time and if you are still in high school I really recommend taking dual credit or summer classes.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to work hard in what ever field you go into especially coming from high school and not just transferring from another university. Also if you are moving onto an on campus apartment communicate with the housing office! I cannot stress that enough. And if your looking for an apartment the Heights on Pecan are NEW as of 2012 and quite affordable.
In three sentences Being that the school is located near six flags over Texas, Hurricane Harbor, Rangers Stadium, and the new cowboys stadium there is always something to do, just in case you would like to get out. The campus is nice and there are many different cultures surrounding you so it is an all around nice place to begin your studies.

Categories Comments Greek Life I love being Greek! You become involved in campus life and meet lots of people this way. Great if you are not from the Dallas/ Fort Worth area.
Dorm Life Lots of activities, but some RAs are very strict
Academic Rigor Challenging, but doable
Tips for prospective students Enroll in an early orientation date so that you can get into the classes you want.
In three sentences There are activities and clubs for everyone of all types. The only this I do not like is the amount of commuters, so the campus is mostly quiet at night. Overall it is a great college.

Food and Dining The UC building has Subway, Panda express, pizza hut, sushi etc
Dorm Life I lived on campus apartments called Arbor Oaks. these apartments are huge but unfurnished
Academic Rigor Good Academics
Tips for prospective students As long as you go to class and spend atleast 3 hours studying for one class you will do good. Try to have all the fun in your freshman year because it gets harder as you become a junior and then a senior.
In three sentences Its a really cool campus. Love Arlington city. The professors and other students there are nice people. They offer one of the best Nursing programs in the nation. I am proud to be a Maverick.

Categories Comments Campus Safety While there are a few reported crimes, the UTA campus police will do whatever it takes to keep you safe, even if that means you getting a personal escort to your car if you do not feel comfortable walking there alone.
Greek Life UTA offers many sororities and fraternities, where there are dry houses, (meaning no alcohol), and all of the fraternities and sororities are constantly having weekly events on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Clubs and Activities There are clubs and activities for every kind of student, no matter what your interests are.
Great for these types of students Every kind of student will find something to do on campus. There are clubs, churches, groups for the LGBT community, or atheists, christians, and everyone else!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus UTA has a tradition of the annual bed races, where students push a bed down a football field and race, and it is super fun to do or to watch!
Bang for the buck UTA is an excellent school, and they have food, fun, games, very educational classes, and more.
What to do for fun UTA is constantly offering activities for students. They have a bowling alley on campus and each game is only two dollars, they offer movie nights, and activities such as bed races, ooze ball, and other fun things.
Food and Dining On campus, there is a cafeteria, Chick-Fil-A, Subway, Panda Express, Pizza Hut, two sushi places, and a convenience store, so the options are very broad.
Dorm Life I live in an off campus apartment, but I have many friends who love living in the dorms.
Tips for prospective students Apply early, and make sure you do good on your THEA and SAT!
In three sentences Very clean, efficient, great staff and learning opportunities for students. Whether you are undecided or have chosen a major, UTA has classes that fit your needs. The tuition is affordable, and everything you need is right on campus.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Never walk alone in daytime/night.
Greek Life No idea.
Clubs and Activities Not much :( I like Asian Student Association and am in other nursing organizations but they're all poorly planned and boring. Most ethnic associations are clique-y.
Great for these types of students Shut-ins, nursing students (upper level, not undergrad), simple-minded people, quiet people, studious collegiates.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We have concerts held throughout the year and Drake came once.
Bang for the buck UTA is so cheap. I don't purchase the meal plan b/c it is a waste of money and you can never finish the meals, and I live in an apt but I pay oly $8-9k for tuition total a year.
What to do for fun Nothing. Only thing to do is go to the Arlington Parks mall, Bethany's (best bubble tea cafe with great food!) and go clubbing.
Food and Dining You'll get tired of the food.
Dorm Life I lived in Lipscomb, which as the average dorm. Other dorms I hear are nicer than most UT school dorms like KC hall or Arlington hall.
Academic Rigor All the fine arts and history/gov classes are easy. Nursing science courses are not very good w/only 1 professor available for anatomy and one for nursing microbiology :/
Tips for prospective students Be sure to carry a weapon on you at all times. Never walk alone in the daytime or at night. Never be afraid or embarrassed to call MavRide, a free police-student ride that's opened M-Th 7pm to 1am. It's not opened Sat or Friday/Sunday I believe, which are the days students would ride the most.
In three sentences I believe UTA is a baby university for your freshman year. The campus is not that bad, but safety is a huge concern among students here. The campus activities here are very poorly planned, but it's possible to settle here.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I've never had a problem but the local area surrounding the campus is seedy and this past semester dozens of girls were harassed by a butt slapper who would slap a girls butt then run away laughing.
Greek Life Not apart of it but seems on par and involved such as other colleges.
Clubs and Activities Lots of available clubs, intramurals, and other gatherings available. Ive always had a great time.
Great for these types of students Great for all kinds of students from all age groups and all backgrounds.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The UTA bed races and Oozeball are unique and fun traditions involving racing beds down a football field and playing volleyball in a big muddy pit respectively. Fun times.
Bang for the buck Although everything such as housing is very nice, it does seem a bit expensive. I wish it was cheaper, especially 2 BR apartments.
What to do for fun There are lots of student available activities. One of my favorite during the summer is the movie nights they put up on the projector in a big grassy field that everyone comes out to see. The recreational center is also very nice.
Food and Dining On campus food seems to be pretty good. There are several dining choices. Chick fil a on campus is a great idea.
Dorm Life I lived in the apartments. They are laid back and safe. Never had any problems except getting tickets for parking in the wrong area without a pass.
Academic Rigor Nursing is hard and stressful, but well worth it in the end. Not impossible to hold a fulltime job while in school. I worked nights at a hospital while going to school by day.
Tips for prospective students Apply early and ahead of the deadline. Living near campus is a great and economic choice. Take a tour and get to know all the wonderful things about UTA.
In three sentences The nursing program at UTA is superb. The professors and staff are excellent and knowledgeable. The campus has an on-site SMART Hospital for teaching students in a safe and controlled environment that can't be gained from reading a book.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Parts of campus appear well-lit but I've received many emails about incidents of crime on campus.
Greek Life No idea.
Clubs and Activities Many clubs and activities, though I'm not involved in any.
Great for these types of students Students who are willing/able to do a bit of self-teaching and who are persistent enough to continue asking questions until they genuinely understand the material.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Unknown.
Bang for the buck The experience gained is worth the cost of tuition. There are many resources available to students both academic and otherwise and many professors make themselves available beyond the classroom.
What to do for fun UTA Planetarium on campus, membership to fitness center is included and a variety of classes are available, near Arlington Parks Mall, various movie theaters and activity centers (Putt Putt, Alley Cats Bowling, etc.) Dallas Cowboys Stadium, Texas Rangers Stadium, a short drive from Dallas and Fort Worth.
Tips for prospective students Take advantage of resources available like tutoring/study centers. Ask questions and don't give up until you genuinely understand.
In three sentences The University of Texas at Arlington has many wonderful professors who genuinely want their students to succeed, however, there are also a handful of professors who seem to be unwilling to actually teach, instead referring students to textbooks or relying heavily on student aids. Parking is a huge problem in that there is not nearly enough to accommodate enrollment. Overall the school is a good value for the cost of tuition.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students who have a family who want to finish a degree.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Oooze ball! Goes down every year, people get muddy and dirty on purpose... the freshman seem to LOVE it.
What to do for fun I am a senior, so my time is spent doing my internship. My fun is usually spent off campus! Good luck!
Tips for prospective students Make sure you have a parking sticker, those $20 tickets add up, and after 3 tickets... you can find your car at the pound! Stock up on scantrons, almost all teachers sum up your knowledge based on that score!
In three sentences I would give it a 3 out of 5. It is a commuter school, and most classes fit in my schedule. Take classes at night, better parking ;)

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are occasional things that happen just off campus, but nothing too serious on campus. People will steal your bike if you don't lock it up.
Greek Life There are many fraternities and sororities that are always welcoming new members each year. The greek houses are well taken care of compared to other campuses I've visited.
Clubs and Activities There's always something going on somewhere on campus. There are many clubs that anyone can join.
Great for these types of students Those who like to get involved. There are always events going on where you can go and meet new people or just have some fun with people who already know.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Bed Races. Every fall a tournament is held where groups get together and race beds with wheels on them. Halfway through the races there is a giant pillow fight where everyone in the stadium participates. Every year there is a concert where they get a celeb artist to come and perform. So far I've seen Rihana, Maroon 5, B.O.B, and Drake all for a low student price of $25.
Bang for the buck Cheaper than larger universities but you get the same education.
What to do for fun Tons of campus activities. There's a gym with rock climbing, pools, indoor and outdoor courts, ping pong, video game rental, and so much more. Bowling and billiards located right next to where you can get your food.
Food and Dining Certain dorms don't require a meal plan. Go for those. The food isn't all that great and the hours are terrible. Running a little late for dinner? They've already closed and you are left hungry.
Dorm Life I met some of my best friends while living in the dorms. You cant beat the location of living on campus plus they are cheap. Each dorm has a rec. room, kitchen, study lounges, and public tvs in community areas.
Academic Rigor Studying is definitely needed, but with the many libraries across campus and quiet places to study, making good grades is definitely possible.
Tips for prospective students Live on campus! You meet so many great people by living in the dorms.
In three sentences A great school! I'm so glad that I chose to attend UTA. Its a smaller school which is perfect for someone like me who comes from a small town. Great campus, clean and safe.

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities I think UTA has an incredible variety when it comes to clubs. Not to mention, they usually have free food!
Bang for the buck Very affordable with some great scholarships available. If you work hard, you can avoid student loans easily here!
What to do for fun A little bit of everything! Sports, join a club (we have all sorts! Philosophy, any language, chess clubs), rush for a fraternity or sorority. There are tons of concerts and holiday events on campus. Around Christmas you can sponsor an angel for an Angel Tree, for Halloween UTA hosts a casino night with mock cocktails, they host free talks from interesting people such as Bill Nye and Ben and Jerry. There is never a shortage of great activities.
Food and Dining The cafeteria is great and so are the options at the various snack shops around campus. I love Einstein's Bagels and the sushi available. However, there are very few healthy vegetarian options, which can be a challenge to overcome on campus.
Dorm Life Having never lived in a dorm myself, I must judge from seeing my friends live in dorms--I was jealous!
Academic Rigor It depends on how hard you make it for yourself. As long as you go to class, study and choose a major you're interested, you'll be fine, but to excel, it takes a lot of hard work and hours both in and outside of class.
Tips for prospective students Get involved--UTA has everything from Renaissance clubs to ultimate frisbee to a vegan society. You'll fit in somewhere, easily. Actually attend class, because attendance grades are the easiest, most important aspect of lower level class work and you will regret it if you get a bad grade because you were too lazy to show up.
In three sentences UTA is fun while still providing good academics, both in terms of classes and teachers. The workload can be heavy but it only makes the students feel more accomplished after completing it. A great place for those who wish to learn more about themselves and their interests.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I think that the police alerts that are sent to our emails and cell phones are a very good way to warn the students that attend UTA. It's very important to keep us informed for our safety!
Greek Life There are an abundance of sororities and fraternities available for students, one can definitely find their fit.
Great for these types of students This school is great for any type of student, it doesn't have one focus.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Oozeball is quite an unusual tradition, really messy but really fun!
What to do for fun There are a lot of things that UTA has to offer, I can go to the MAC if I feel like working out. There are intramural sports you can become a part of on your free time. You can participate in events that student clubs have. You can even go bowling and play pool on campus for really cheap!
Tips for prospective students I would advise them to lay low their first year in college only because it is completely different from high school. There is so much going on you have to learn to prioritize. It is so easy to get carried away with student life your first year, but school comes first so always keep that in mind!
In three sentences This school far exceeded my expectations. The campus is beautiful the professors and classes are great. Student life is blossoming more and more each year, I have really enjoyed being a student at this school.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I take classes online.
Greek Life I take classes online.
Clubs and Activities For online students, you can meet up on Facebook.
Great for these types of students Great for working students!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I take my classes online, but my class meets on facebook and in the discussion board.
Bang for the buck It is economical, but all colleges are pretty expensive these days.
What to do for fun There is no time for fun, just studying!
Food and Dining I live at home.
Dorm Life I live at home.
Academic Rigor I rate the academic rigor with three stars!!
Tips for prospective students I recommend the online classes. Think of your classes like a job and make the time. Don't try to double up unless you are willing to double your study time.
In three sentences UT has a great BSN curriculum. The classes are online for the working nurse! The work load is challenging, but not impossible.

Categories Comments Campus Safety This campus has very watchful and secured officers they even offer a class for self defense.
Greek Life They offer a wide variety of sororities.
Clubs and Activities There are many club activities you name it we got it.
Great for these types of students It's great for any student.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There's really nothing unsual on campus.
What to do for fun There's a lot of things to do for fun such as: bowling, playing pool swimming, the recreation center, attend organization meetings...etc
Food and Dining They also offer a wide variety of places and ways to eat as well as the places to stay in. Your meal plan comes with your way of living
Dorm Life UTA gives you a wide variety of ways and places to live there's no way anyone should be left out.
Academic Rigor Academically this school has everything you need.
Tips for prospective students The main tip I would want students or incoming students to take is always be prepared before you do anything.
In three sentences UT Arlington thinks about things that can benifit you outside of school as well as inside of school. They're very generous and thoughtful. This school would never want to lead you in the wrong direction.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Late at night gets a bit sketchy since we are in the middle of a city.
Greek Life Currently not in one.
Clubs and Activities I am in VSA, club here are very diverse and fun, you just have to learn to speak.
Great for these types of students Academically rigor students or students who enjoy studying.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Not many accept the architecture buildings design and garden.
Bang for the buck Learning is everywhere doesn't mater where you learn it. In reality you are just paying for the degree, learning programing at UTA is the same as MIT you learn the same languages same structures. Your only difference is the paper.
What to do for fun There isn't much fun time for engineer students, accept maybe sitting around joking during study sessions or breaks.
Food and Dining A little crowded during lunch time.
Academic Rigor Math, Science, Nursing, and Engineering every class after freshman year will feel like a weed out class with the work load.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to study, don't get in over your head in classes. Don't be stranger in classes make friends
In three sentences Not as easy as some may believe it to be. Even though its a state school the education level is very high. Although the strictness with competing against IVY league school is harsh some times.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Exercise.
Food and Dining Great dinning facility and all you can eat.
Dorm Life I don't live in the dorms, yet friends that are in the dorms seem to really enjoy them. They are really nice, well at least the newer ones are really nice.
Tips for prospective students Plan ahead, complete enrollment extra early, and ask a lot of questions from different people other than the workers. The students will have more accurate info that some of the staff half of the time.
In three sentences I actually like the school, yet I have had a lot of problems with enrollment. I was admitted late, have had issues with the advising department, and late enrollment in my classes due to these mix ups and inaccurate info provided from admission and my adviser. I have never had this many issues with a school before, and it has caused me to become extremely behind in most of my classes; this has caused so much stress for me that it's hard to focus on my classes and grades.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Seems pretty safe. I haven't had any problems, nor have any of my friends.
Greek Life Greek Life is everywhere. I cannot go into a classroom without seeing someone with Greek alphabet on their shirt/backpack/pants. It's not overwhelming by any means, but a nice mixture.
Clubs and Activities Tons of clubs. During the first week of classes they hold a mini-convention outside of the University Hall for students to check them all out.
Great for these types of students Great for all students. There are older students, younger, all races, all abilities, and all kinds of students that attend. I do not think it is possible for someone to go there and not meet someone else with like attributes.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Ooze Ball. That's all I'm going to say.
Bang for the buck Even though it is very crowded and the dorms are small, the professors really make it worth the money. It seems that every professor goes out of their way to help the students to succeed.
What to do for fun UT-Arlington has a TON of clubs if you want to join. If not, there are pool-halls, sports (huge MAC center has lots to offer), and of course you're right down the street from the Cowboy's and Ranger's stadiums, Six Flags, and Hurricane Harbor.
Food and Dining UT-Arlington has a ton of different food options. They even have 3 Starbucks on campus! Pecan St. is under construction at the moment, but it looks like three more restaurants are being built!
Dorm Life Dorms are all around the school, making it easy to get where you need to go. However, they are small and there are a lot of students at UT-Arlington.
Academic Rigor The classes are tough, but designed with the student in mind. Professors teach very well. They also work with you if something pops up, or if you are going out of town. The classes are large, mine average about 60-70 students per class. The professors still make it a point to make you feel important though.
Tips for prospective students Purchase a digital voice recorder and take it to every class. I am a junior and would not have made it this far without it! Come early to classes, because parking fills up FAST!
In three sentences Very populated school: expect to wait in long lines at the bookstore, cafeteria, and even the library. Great professors who specialize in their fields. I am truly impressed, and understand why everyone tries to attend UT-Arlington.

Categories Comments Food and Dining I will say that the college is in a great location and the selections are vast.
Dorm Life I'm an online student. Cannot comment.
Academic Rigor The course work is definitely difficult, but can be done. I would appreciate the understanding from the professors that choosing online college was done because I'm unable to get to the campus freely and to have on-campus finals and tests definitely makes one second-guess the choice of being an online student.
Tips for prospective students This is definitely a school for young students who want to experience a large campus and live the college experience. As an online student, it's a bit complicated detailing the experience, but there is definitely a disconnect with the instructors because you are an online student. The teachers for online schooling need to be more interactive because we are students too.
In three sentences Influential if you are an on-campus student or an on-line student studying nursing. It's difficult to get direct assistance and understanding as a new student needing direction with their on-line programs. Has an exceptional on-line nursing degree program.

Categories Comments What to do for fun When you talk about Arlington it is all about location, location, location. The school is somewhat hidden from the outside world but just a few miles away are all sorts of attractions. Six Flags, major league baseball, Cowboys stadium, and did I mention the night life in downtown Dallas.
Food and Dining There is a nice cafeteria on campus with a buffet that is to die for! If you get bored there are plenty of restaurants just a few blocks away.
Dorm Life On my visit the tour guide directed us to the new dorms that were being built. I walked in and was given a room layout and I must say that these are some of the nicest dorms I have seen in the seven schools that I visited this summer.
Academic Rigor I have heard the stories from students and alumni that have attended and what is a common misconception is that the university is a party school. Most say that this is not the case. On the other hand, students and alumni alike say that they have learned loads more here in such a short period of time.
Tips for prospective students Check out their free tuition promises. They offer the Maverick Promise which gives almost free tuition to any student whose family makes less than 65,000 a year. Try to schedule a campus visit. You won't regret it.
In three sentences This university is one of the jewels of Texas. It is located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and is absolutely astounding;the atmosphere is what made my visit there a treat. I have looked into this great school and plan on attending this Fall.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus police are always around and there are emergency stations located around campus for extra security.
Great for these types of students Its great for students that want to be involved but just as great for students that have busy lives off campus.
Bang for the buck Definitely a great place to enjoy yourself while not spending all your money.
What to do for fun I prefer to go to one dollar movie night but they have bowling and billiards too.
Food and Dining The connection cafe is my favorite place to eat on campus. It is buffet and fair priced. The food is great and they have all the extras you might need. There is plenty of other fast food options and different orginizations cook out for fundraising all the time.
Dorm Life I never choose to live in the dorms so I am uneducated on this topic.
Academic Rigor The academic rigor is different depending on what field of study the student in involved in. I, as an english major, have little homework and my grades are mostly essays and midterm tests so the difficulty level is lower than that of sciences or engineering. However, the teachers want their students to learn so its nearly impossible not to.
Tips for prospective students Whether you want to be really involved in campus activities or you care nothing about them, UTA is a great place for learning and getting to know fellow intellectuals.
In three sentences The University of Texas at Arlington is a clean, unfriendly campus that has lots of fun activities going on around campus. The buildings are all different and interesting and all the staff I have had the pleasure of meeting are friendly and helpful. For the most part they have small classroom sizes so its easy to get time with your teacher.

Greek Life Huge and worth it!
Clubs and Activities Greek Life is huge; Volunteers and Leadership programs are stellar. Student Congress is a great way to be important on campus.
Great for these types of students Students who mostly want to keep to themselves.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Bed Races are every fall and are what they sound like -- teams racing each other on beds. Each semester a high-scale concert (Maroon 5, Drake) is held at the new and pristine College Park Center.
What to do for fun Arlington is home to a great mall, the Texas Rangers Ballpark, and many unique dining venues. Take advantage of the locale and explore DFW. Get involved on campus and meet new people and keep yourself busy.
Tips for prospective students Criteria for some automatic, merit-based scholarships are easy to achieve. Get involved on campus because it will make you seem much more connected to the school!
In three sentences UT Arlington is dedicated to providing for its students what other affordable, commuter-based schools cannot. Staff is willing to work with you and course offerings are diverse and satisfactory. Lots of campus opportunities such as concerts, volunteering, and events.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I always feel safe on campus.
Clubs and Activities Activities take a lot of time out of your schedule. Many clubs want several hours out of your week.
Great for these types of students Outgoing
Food and Dining The cafeteria is good, but there is not much besides that. The restaurants on campus are always extremely crowded.
Dorm Life The dorms are nice, and there is a lot to do if you are an outgoing person. If you are introverted, people will give you your space.
Academic Rigor The engineering department is fairly tough.
Tips for prospective students Use the tutoring services available. Don't be afraid to ask for help. If possible, talk to upperclassmen in your major for advice.
In three sentences This college has a lot of great resources available for students. Most the teachers are very helpful. The campus is very safe.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is campus assistance place everywhere around campus. The school provides self defense classes, and have personal escorts for students who feel threatened or uncomfortbale about walking alone at night.
Clubs and Activities There is literally a club/organization for EVERYONE! Varies from sports, ethnicity, culture, studies, opinions etc.
Great for these types of students For students who are scared anad have a lot of questions coming into college, UTA is known for their great resources. For incoming freshman they have an opportun ity in joining a program called FIG. Where students are place with other students who share the same major into the same classes. This gives you a chance to form more efficient study groups and allow incoming freshman to become more comfortable on campus. It also helps teach freshmen about time management and also how to relieve stress; while learning about all the full benefits the school has to offer.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The one tradition that I find unusual at the school is that fact that they hold a year bed race. Where students form into teams and literally race on a bed. It sounds kinda of silly but looks really fun.
Bang for the buck The only way you can really get a Bang for the Buck is if you are working or have parents who can financially support you.
What to do for fun UTA has alot of different entertainment areas, for instance there is a Bowling and Pool table center where most people go and hang out. Also the planetarium always have shows playing inside there, and somethings on weekends they play movies for the students. Of course different clubs and organizations throw different events and activities for the students to enjoy. All on campus.
Food and Dining The food is amazing! They are restaurants and areas where they sell food placed all around campus! It just the fact that it all cost money, since the tuition is so high it is hard for some students to reap the full benefits of it.
Dorm Life I decided to live off campus, but I have friends who live in dorms and they absolutely LOVE it. Especially since the school has build a new dorm area that has its own shopping center and restaurants near by!
Academic Rigor UTA has alot of tutoring sessions and also opportunities for students to further their research in whatever field they are trying to pursue.
Tips for prospective students Prospective students should be aware of all the scholarships that are out there to help. I wasn't aware and I missed out on A LOT of free money; don't be afraid to ask questions and become familiar with the faculty at your school!
In three sentences I rate University of Texas Arlington a 7. They have a lot of helpful resources, but its TOO expensive. It makes it almost impossible to be able to fund yourself here, especially if your parents make little to no income.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We have bed races! A team ,group of students, pushes one team member inside of a crib-like-bed to the finish line.
What to do for fun There are many events on campus to enjoy from; earlier this year we had Drake in concert and this fall we will have Flo Rida.
Food and Dining For the people that do have the luxury of the meal plan on campus, it is awesome! The dining area is created for college students, cozy with televisions. Many lines to choose from, and the best brownies!
Dorm Life I do not live in a dorm, sorry.
Academic Rigor In a larger size class, chatter can be distracting. Also, finding a seat in the front of class is sometimes challenging. Almost all tests fall around the same week.
Tips for prospective students I recommend to take advantage of as many UTA resources as possible; they are free! Also, apply for scholarships early. I believe joining an organization will make you enjoy UTA more.
In three sentences The University of Texas at Arlington is supportive, diverse, and has spirit! Food and Dining The food is at a reasonable price and there are plenty options for all types. There are sections for vegetarians and vegans, and sections for meat lovers, and UTA provides a variety.
Dorm Life I don't live on campus but I have friends who tell me about their dorm life. They've given me no complaints and compliment the cleanliness. If I had enough money, I would for sure get a dorm at UTA.
Academic Rigor UTA takes their academics seriously. I'm in a History class on top of my music education courses and I feel that I'm learning just as much in History as I am in music. Teachers are very friendly but serious about their work.
Tips for prospective students Always be on top of your A game. Don't slack off and do your homework. Work now and play later.

Clubs and Activities Soccer Club is the best. Checkk out number 5! (You guessed it, that's me)
Great for these types of students Who like to mingle and party but also keep a low profile. More serious students than party animals here at UTA.
Bang for the buck Campus is big, but not ridiculously big. I love the library because it has levels of quietness, group studying, and rooms for groups to meet and be alone.
What to do for fun The Mac is fun for sports like SOccer, Basketball, Raquetball, there is a pool in tennis courts, and basically an array of recreations. Not to mention Drake perfromed at Uta last year and only cost students $30!

Categories Comments Campus Safety The University has an active guard on duty at all hours of the day. There is also an escort service for all students available immediately upon request. Provisions are taken at all times by the University to keep campus violence at a minimum.
Clubs and Activities The University is home to a huge variety of students who all express themselves in different ways. Nevertheless, every student can find a place where they belong among others. The clubs and activities of the University are as diverse as the students themselves.
Bang for the buck Tuition is fair at the University and well worth the education received in exchange. Students of all economic class can attend the University. There are many sources of aid and scholarships available for students to keep their focus on their studies and not on paying tuition.
Food and Dining The University offers a wide variety of dining options from its food court, caf©, and on-campus market to the local restaurants surrounding it. There are also new eateries located near the dormitories under construction as I write this review. Itâs clear that dining is a big priority at the university.
Dorm Life There is always an entertaining activity or educational support source available at the students need. A student resident has a large amount of academic and personal support at their disposal from advisors, tutors, and other peers who make the campus feel like a home away from home.
Academic Rigor The University instructors are engaging and encouraging, effectively grasping a student's attention and imagination throughout the lecture. The Curriculum provokes students to explore the themes of the coursework to become active and educated members of their community with a knowledge of the real world.
In three sentences The University of Texas at Arlington is very well structured, but very much overlooked. Students in the Dallas area have many choices for continuing their education and UT Arlington is definitely a choice to consider. The University integrates the natural beauty of Arlington with the action of the surrounding area like the proximity of the Dallas Cowboys Stadium and the Texas Rangers Ballpark.

Categories Comments What to do for fun UTA hold events almost every single day, so running out of options of what to do is almost impossible. Talking about running, there is an amazing gym! You can go rock climbing, play ping pong, or take Zumba!
Food and Dining The food is just...oh my gosh! There's an all you can eat, but it's a bit expensive. We are college students paying for school already. Don't waste your money on the all you can eat because they have Chick-Fil-A, Panda Express, and Subway, which are not that expensive.
Dorm Life I actually commute, but I hear people talk about living in the dorms. So far, I have not heard a single bad remark about the dorms!
Academic Rigor I've seen people struggle, and I've seen people pass like life's a breeze. School just depends on the person and sometimes the effort put into your work. Some pull all-nighters and fail the tests, and some don't even study and pass. I wouldn't say the classes at UTA is hard, but that is just me. I rarely study, but I make somewhat good grades!
Tips for prospective students You want to choose a school where you can be yourself (cliche! I know) and experience new yet amazing things with your friends. UTA has a nice , warm friendly environment and if you really put yourself out there, the school is yours! :)

UTA is a place that will make you feel welcome, yet each an every student contribute something different and special to this school.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus was not as bad as I expected. There are escort services and help buttons located all over campus, and most students who do know you keep to themselves. Wandering around late at night alone is probably not the best idea, but that goes without saying.
Greek Life There are all kinds of fraternities and sororities for all walks of life, from the nerds and the geeks to the athletes and the diplomatic.
Clubs and Activities There are large support groups for engineers, including ASCE, ACM, IEEE, and many more. Clubs also exist to have fun, such as a game development club, and improvisation troupe, religious groups and so much more.
Great for these types of students Great for outgoing students and those who wish to learn, as well as the quiet and reserved student. It is also great for commuters, with plenty of parking and support for them due to the fact that 90% of students commute.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There are all manner of odd traditions and competitions, from oozeball and bed races to the traditional homecoming.
Bang for the buck Very affordable for such a good education. The school has been expanding and improving its programs and the classes are rigorous and informational without being too hard.
What to do for fun There is plenty to do if you look in the right place. In the Maverick Activity Center you can play basketball, workout, run, play soccer, tennis, racquetball, or even use the wifi to play computer or rent out a wii. UTA also hosts many free musics events, festivals, plays, and all manner of things to participate in and enjoy.
Food and Dining Food is a little expensive in the connection cafe, but if you have a meal plan it doesn't matter. The Chic-Fil-A, Panda Express, and other fast food chains are good, although I was unhappy to find out that Panda Express is only open for 3 hours every day.
Dorm Life Older dorms are cheap but live able, and newer dorms are more costly, but nice. Dorms hold activities for those who are interested in socializing and getting active.
Academic Rigor Difficult, but rewarding. Trying without being impossible. I am pleased with my education so far and the university has done a good job to make me excited about moving further into my career field.
Tips for prospective students If you are looking for an affordable school that offers impressive education, this is the school. When in classes your first semester, be very careful to get help when you need it, professors have office hours and tutors are cheap for this reason.
In three sentences This school is very good for science and engineering majors. However, the professors are knowledgeable and if you ask for help, you can get it. Planning and enrolling in your classes as early as possible can really help if you believe that specific professors could help you.

Dorm Life Dorm life here is fun and everyone is accepting of everyone. Friends are easy to come by just be open towards people.
Academic Rigor The academics at the University of Texas at Arlington are challenging but passing is not impossible if a fair amount of effort is put into studying.
Tips for prospective students The university does not take kindly to slacking so always stay on top of all school work. Students that want to attend this school should know that they will only be charged for 12 credit hours a semester so it is a good idea to max out on hours. Also, professors don't bite and become a students greatest resource so don't be afraid to say hello.
In three sentences University of Texas at Arlington is an excellent school that has an amazing biochemistry program. Categories Comments What to do for fun When not studying there are many activities that are provided on campus. There is a bowling area and billiards. The Activity Center is an entire building dedicated for physical exercise such as a basketball court and weightlifting tools.
Food and Dining The bulk of UTA's food is the connection cafe, an all you can eat buffet for less than 10 dollars. There are other restaurants in the area for one's variety of food. The cafe does cook a variety of food everyday and it is always different everyday.
Dorm Life Living at centennial court has been a good experience for me. Although it is not the prettiest apartment complex, it does have adequate tools for a college student to live comfortably. It is also relatively cheap compared to other apartment complexes.
Academic Rigor The majority of the professors understandably do not hold their student's hands. The material is tough if you do not put the time into it.
Tips for prospective students Plan out your schedule ahead of time. If you do not know what to expect ask around for assistance because being unprepared will only hinder your academic career.
In three sentences For my first semester at the University of Texas at Arlington, the University has everything a student needs for their everyday life. There are also activities spread throughout campus for the most possible coverage of entertainment for students.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck UTA was the cheapest college option for me money-wise, even though quality-wise my education is exactly the same as it would be at any other college that I was considering. And since I'm planning on earning my Master's degree, UTA is a good way to get my Bachelor's and spend a minimal amount of money on my base education and then spend more on what matters (my Master's).
What to do for fun There are plenty of activities both on campus and off pretty much all the time. It's almost impossible to get bored, even as a poor college student you can find something fun to do.
Food and Dining The cafeteria seemed like a really convenient idea at first, but after a couple weeks, it got a bit old and now I eat out way too much. The food isn't bad, in fact it's usually pretty good, but it really does get old quick. VERY IMPORTANT TIP: Make sure to get the smallest meal plan (you need one if you're living in a dorm), I don't care how much you eat, but you will not run out of meals on that. And, besides, that one has the most money on it for spending on restaurants on campus (which is a much better option).
Dorm Life I got very lucky with my roommate situation as I had no idea who she was or what she was like until I met her on Move-In Day and we have ended up becoming like best friends. I am part of the Architecture Freshman Interest Group, so I live around all the other Architecture FIG students and it has been made making friends a lot easier as we all have the same classes.
Academic Rigor As an architecture major, my classes are fairly intense and time-consuming, but, on average, the rigor of the classes at UTA is totally up to you and what classes you decide to take. (Hint: Architecture, Engineering, and Pre Med are the most intense, while Business majors at UTA pretty much breeze through everything.)
Tips for prospective students Make sure to get a tour of campus before deciding to attend, so that you get the feel of the campus. Also, make sure to pay very close attention when financial aid and paying for college are brought up as topics, you want to understand all that you can so that you're not scrambling at the last second to try to pay for everything.
In three sentences I have been pleasantly surprised at attending UTA. Classes are what you make of them, there are plenty of professors to choose from, campus life is alive, there is a multitude of help you can get from the school, and campus is conveniently placed in the middle of everything in Arlington. All of this, and for a fairly reasonable cost (at least compared to other schools in the US).

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities There is literally a club for everything and for everybody. You are bound to find more than one that you will like.
Great for these types of students This university is great for everybody. Its student body and staff are very welcoming and diverse. Everybody is friendly and are willing to help you with whatever you need.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus My favorite tradition is called Oozeball. You gather a team of 6-7 people and compete in a volleyball tournament against other teams. There's a catch though...you play volleyball in the mudd! It is so much fun, and of course...DIRTY. But this is many students' favorite tradition.
What to do for fun Offering intramural sports, and many clubs and organizations, UTA has a great variety of things to do for fun. You just have to find your fit.
Food and Dining The food is awesome. In all honesty, the food here is some of the best you are going to taste around. Its great!
Tips for prospective students Do not underestimate this university. Just because many people think that UTA is not rigorous, the academic rigor that takes place here is great. Be prepared to study, and please take advantage of the many resources that are available for use such as: Supplemental Instruction Sessions, Tutoring, and Study Groups. Also, many of the professors have office hours that can become very useful whenever you have questions.
In three sentences This university provides a great environment for students to succeed in. With the very friendly and accepting student body and staff, UTA really makes you feel at home, therefore creating a comfortable environment. The numerous student organizations available here encourage the social participation required to form many future leaders,

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus Safety is average at UTA. There seems to be frequent accounts of attempted robbery and overall mischief. However UTA does have their own police department right on campus. Their collaboration and efforts with Arlington PD are improving our campus by offering escorts across campus.
Greek Life Greek Life at UTA is smaller compared to most major universities. However we are very involved on campus and our smaller student ratio allows us to connect with each other and personalize our efforts to promote higher academic standards and involvement on campus.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Every year, UTA hold a Mud Volleyball Tournament called Oozeball for current students held behind Greek Row. It is a fun and unique experience and a great place to meet student leaders and other involved students on campus!
Food and Dining UTA has a lot of options for dining on campus including great meal plan options and a Plaza of major food chains. They even serve sushi. If you don't like what is offered on campus, don't sweat! UTA is located in Downtown Arlington which means lots of great food options right outside of campus. On some days of the week student organizations sell food for their philanthropies.
Dorm Life Dorm Life is small but fun at UTA. UTA offers FIG's (Freshman Interest Groups) for new students through dorm life. This makes connecting with students in your related major a lot easier and also holds the student accountable for their academics their freshman year.
Academic Rigor Classes here are challenging, but doable. I recommend getting to know your professor for additional help with classwork. Most are helpful. UTA also offers free tutoring for all subjects.
Tips for prospective students **Don't fall behind on your classwork -It is hard to catch back up in classes if you get behind due to UTA's rigorous academics in all subjects. **Get to know your professors and classmates -This is vital in building relationships and ultimately networking if you want to excel in your related field
In three sentences UTA has a long standing tradition for academic excellence. Since one of UTA's main focuses is research, a degree in a science-related field will be highly recognized and will be worth more than, say, a school who's focus is liberal arts.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus At the University Hall they have the founder E.H Hereford's statue, people rub his head before a test for good luck. There's also oozeball in which people play mud volleyball.
Bang for the buck Love the lifestyle at UTA, there's so much to do. Also the study groups are helpful. I feel like the campus and people have helped me grow and learn a lot as a person.
What to do for fun The campus has many mixers and socials to go to, they also have a bowling and billiards where many go to.
Food and Dining The food is really good and they are opening up new restaurants where you can use your dining dollars. You would never get tired of the food they have to offer because they have many lines to pick from even a vegetarian line.
Dorm Life The new dorms are Vandergriff hall, they are very friendly and always having socials so you are able to meet new people. There are many places to studying or just hang out with your friends in the residence halls.
Academic Rigor If you're a science major, the work is very tough but with studying you can get an A. Just find out what your studying.habits are. The SI sessions are very helpful as well as free tutoring hours.
Tips for prospective students Take classes seriously and keep a planner to manage time. Also study from the first day instead of cramming at the end. I love this university, the people are so friendly, you'll feel welcomed from the first day. Also there are many scholarships available.
In three sentences University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) is a very welcoming, diversed campus with the many activities on campus such as bed races and concerts at the new college park center with many celebrities that visit. Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus safety at UTA is pretty good. Campus police is available anytime and there are escort services if you don't feel comfortable going from one place to another during the day or night. Although it's an open campus, all dorms require card entry. The library and other buildings do the same after midnight.
Clubs and Activities The student organizations at UTA are fun and it helps you meet new friends. At the beginning of my freshman year, I literally just went to class and back to my dorm because I was too shy to make friends on campus. After joining an organization, I became more active with school activities and made lots of new friends. The only thing with clubs and activities is that you must remember to stay focused on schoolwork. Don't become too involved that your priorities change. School always comes first!
Great for these types of students This campus is great for any student! Whether you're shy and reserved or ambitious and outgoing, you can easily find your place at UTA.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus UTA has a lot of unusual traditions, but the most entertaining of all would have to be the bed races and oozeball. All the students on campus gather and create teams to participate in both competitions. It sounds strange, but it's a lot of fun and everyone enjoys!
What to do for fun The Mavericks Activity Center on campus is open for any activities such as basketball, volleyball, badminton, rock climbing, dancing, working out, and so much more. There are also plenty of student organizations to join and events that take place on campus.
Food and Dining There are plenty of dining options on campus that students can choose from. All options are delicious food places, so there's no such thing as bad food. The only downsides with food and dining would have to be the availability of certain food places and the absence of healthy choices.
Dorm Life UTA dorms can be either one of two things - awesome or okay. It really depends on which dorm you choose to live in. If you choose to live in one of the newer dorms like Arlington Hall or Vandergriff, then you'll love your dorm. If you choose one of the older ones like Trinity or Lipscomb, then you'll be content with your room, but it won't be anything like the new dorm rooms.
Academic Rigor Classes are hard, but that's expected of college. As long as you attend all your classes, do any homework, and study hard for exams, you'll be fine.
Tips for prospective students This school has a lot of student organizations and events. My advice to prospective students is to stay focused and minimize as many distractions as possible.
In three sentences UTA is a great campus with great people. Buildings are easy to find and there are so many resources open to students at any time. Professors are very understanding and easy to talk to.

Categories Comments Campus Safety UTA police have set up blue lights all around campus, so that if your in any kind of danger you press the button and UTA police come to your aid. There is also a UTA escort number if you need one during the night.
Greek Life At UTA we have an active Greek Life. Although im not currently in a sorority . I know that they have wonderful leadership and volunteering opportunities for students to be apart of.
Clubs and Activities Mainly i'm involved in volunteering clubs because i find it enjoyable to help other people. With that being said there is also plenty of other clubs on campus for medical students to business students. As long you have some interest in mind, i'm sure we have a club for it!
Great for these types of students It's a good school for people who like small campuses and opportunities to get to know your professor. UTA is friendly campus full of opportunities for all kinds of students!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Nothing thats unusual... We rub the head for good luck on our tests, if that counts.
Bang for the buck UTA is a relatively inexpensive university to attend. They dont charge you for how many hours you take. If you take 12 hours or more its the same amount as paying for 12. They have places to eat nearby that are pretty cheap.
What to do for fun Volunteering! Clubs! Concerts! There's so much to do, if you look online it will show you a list of what there is to do eachday.
Food and Dining At UTA they always served fresh food, made right then and there. It's nice to see the variety they have there; pizza all the way to pork chops. Mmmmm.
Dorm Life Two words, Loved it! Everyone was so friendly and I made so many new friends. They also have many opportunities to bond with your dorm mates so if you go there's no chance that you'll feel left out.
Academic Rigor It's difficult but it prepares you to be the best in whatever field you plan to pursue. So work hard and know that you deserve to be where you are because the trip was certainly not that easy.
Tips for prospective students If I had one important tip to share with any incoming students it would be : to go to your classes. I cant stress how important this is; your grades will show a massive amount of improvement when you go to classes vs. not going to your classes. If you do choose to go to your classes you also might want to pay attention. You cant just sit there and gaze at the beautiful ceiling.
In three sentences UTA is a great school for cultivating your dreams in whatever career you plan on pursuing. The campus is full of welcoming students and faculty that make you feel at home. Overall UTA is a wonderful campus to be in!

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are always police patrolling the library and campus. All students are alerted via email when an incident happens. Also, there are many locations on campus where there is an emergency communication pole, which allows students to be escorted somewhere or for police help.
Clubs and Activities There are many clubs always selling goodies and food. They also always fun events for students to participate in. The clubs are well spirited and encourages students to join.
Great for these types of students Students who do not want to pay too much for the college experience. Students must have a car to drive around in Arlington since there is not public transportation.
Bang for the buck Tuition is average. Costs is about 4000 to 5000 a semester for classes. For what you're paying, it is an okay price for the college experience.
What to do for fun The main attraction where most UTA students go is the Maverick Activity Center. This is a well organized gym with various things to do. It includes outdoor volleyball and basketball, indoor basketball courts, indoor soccer court, outdoor tennis court, ping-pong, rock climbing, various exercise equipment, and a track. There is also a bowling a billiards hall for games.
Food and Dining The food court varies from Panda Express to Chik-fil-a to Subway. There is also a buffet for students for eight dollars. A convenient store is near the court and has drinks, snacks, and frozen foods that can be purchased.
Dorm Life People are friendly and mind their own business. Campus is lively with various activities.
Academic Rigor Classes are fair. Everything is about the time and effort put in the course. The more time the better you will do. The only courses that are more difficult are math related courses. For example, Calculus 1 and 2 are very challenging.
Tips for prospective students Students should be careful when joining a club, sport, or being a part of an activity because they will strive you away from studying. In order to do well in their classes, they must study on their own time and finish assignments.
In three sentences It is a fun, friendly, and active campus. There are many activities and different clubs to take part of. Professors are adequate in teaching, but studying is a must for a good grade.

Food and Dining Unknown- I live off campus and all my classes are online
Dorm Life Unknown- I live off campus
Academic Rigor Average. Pretty similar coursework you would find in your nearby community college.
Tips for prospective students If you plan on applying for the nursing program then you definitely need to have a G.P.A of 3.8 or higher to be accepted. There were a few people who had 4.0's from a community college that did get chosen but someone who went to UTA with a 3.6 would get in. Just be prepared and work hard to be the best candidate possible.

Tips for prospective students Ensure you have thought out what it takes to be an active member of class and to excel as a student. Be ready to give up some free time and miss a concert or night on the town. Remember 5 years from now, your employer is going to care more if you know how to balance the budget or perform a skill than how many beers you bong that one Friday night in college.
In three sentences There are many diverse opportunities to attend UTA. These varying opportunities make it able for anyone, including me, to attend school, anywhere, anytime and at your own pace. The classes while challenging, are very current and relevant to the times.

Categories Comments Campus Safety This is the best part! Arlington police are always right there to help. We are close to a fire station as well! We haven't had any huge problems, but some minor stuff. I like that we get alerts to our phones and emails about issues that have occurred.
Greek Life Greek Life here is pretty large. They do a lot of stuff, but I'm just now exploring that world. I hear a lot about it!
Clubs and Activities Choose what you really want to do and join! Volleyball, basketball, soccer, chess, Asian club, Anime club, Kendo, ethnic clubs, and so many more.
Great for these types of students Great for any and everyone. Really! We have a huge International student population. We have people from Korea, Malaysia, India, Central America, Egypt, China, Vietnam and many more places. We probably have someone from every country!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus As I said we do have the mud volleyball tournament and that is every year! We also do bed races which is just hilarious to watch!
Bang for the buck Our tuition is relatively low compared to others and they didn't raise it on us this year. About $11,000 per year which does your wallet good. I am very glad I came here and I wouldn't change anything about it!
What to do for fun Fun!? Well Excel handles that! It's an organization that puts on events. There is a $1 movie night coming up and a magic show! There are seriously so many events on this campus that I would not be able to name everything. One of the clubs I am in are going out for Karaoke. The school does The Bash which is just a big FREE party for the students. They also allow us to do a mud volleyball tournament! It's a great deal of fun!
Food and Dining Once again I give 3 stars. This is due to the lack of consistency in the food. Sometimes the food is delicious and other times it is not so great. The actual cafe connection place where the dorm students have to get their food because of the meal plan is ....not always the greatest. Now we do have Panda Express, Pizza Hut, Subway, and Chik-Fil-A in our school as well. Our school also just finished with our College Park Center which they opened a bunch of restaurants which are delicious! The school is expanding and things are improving!
Dorm Life I can not speak about dorm life from personal experience, but only through my friends. They love the dorm life minus the rules, but if you get in KC Hall or Arlington Hall you will be consider the cream of the crop. They are just the newer facilities. There was a brand new one that opened last semester called Vandergriff hall, but I have not heard too much about that location.
Academic Rigor I'm giving it half because it varies. There are some classes I have taken to where I thought I was going to have to drop my other classes just to pass, but I made it. Some classes will seem like a walk in the park, but then again it also depends on what High School you went to or the prior learning you had.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to spend a lot of time here because you won't want to go home. A lot of people spend their nights in the University Center doing their homework and studying or just hanging out with friends. It is a great place if you have always wanted to be in a club. Mostly all the clubs are open to anyone and everyone. Now I have found one that will not let me join, but it's okay since I have so many other options. If you ever need help don't be afraid to ask ANY Professor and yes I really mean that. They are very helpful!
In three sentences UTA is an extremely diverse place, with a big heart. The University has something for everyone, and if you think they don't, well they encourage you to make a club! It is a second home and I'm a commuter.

What to do for fun This university is in the middle of Arlington, Texas. We have the Dallas cowboys stadium, Six Flags over Texas, Rangers Ballpark, Ripley's believe it or not and a lot of out door activities.
Food and Dining When I first arrived here the dining was limited, however the dining has improved a lot.
Dorm Life I didn't enjoy the dorms however I loved the people I met and the fellowship.
Academic Rigor Apply yourselves and you'll excel.
Tips for prospective students If I could do it over again, I would go to a community college and transfer into the university after deciding what I want to major in.
In three sentences This school is amazing. I moved from Korea to the United States and I already felt right at home. The advisers are working in your favor.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Police Officers are everywhere and always very nice and helpful.
Greek Life There are a lot of Greek organizations at school. You are going to love it!
Clubs and Activities For my college (Political Science) there is a club and for most colleges there is one. Also, for honors students there is one.
Great for these types of students For straight As' students, you will have a lot of stress because the level of preparation of the professors is way better than at any college, so they are going to require and expect the same from you.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus This is my first semester at UTA and so far, I have not heard about any unusual traditions or locations on campus.
Bang for the buck If you want to maximize the benefits that they offer to you, you need to use them all! For example, (1) before getting your schedule for class, please go and talk to the counselor for your department. Their advice will help you a lot! (2) if your class is in an auditorium with 199 other students, you should sit in the front row. Otherwise, you will not hear the professor talking, you will get distracted and most likely, will not learn anything.
What to do for fun There is a huge, new, and well equipped gym in the MAC building that will help you to take some stress out of your shoulders.
Food and Dining There is a great variety of restaurants and they all are fast and clean.
Dorm Life I do not live in campus.
Academic Rigor You have to study at least 6-8 hours per day, if you are a full time student, to be able to keep up with classes and going to class prepared. Professors only expect the best from you.
Tips for prospective students If you go to school full time and also work, then: (1) You are going to need extra time to study after class (2) You will have a lot of assignments and quizzes (3) You will need energy drinks to keep up with everything (4) If you want to get straight As, forget about sleeping more that 4 hours per day. This is a great school but also there is a lot of competition among students. Professors will expect from you nothing else but your very best.
In three sentences At first I was kind of nervous to attend to a huge and well known University such us this one but now, I feel a lot more comfortable. Everyone is so nice, the professors are well prepared when they go to class, and the school is always clean and very protected by police officers. I am very happy to assist here!!!

Categories Comments Campus Safety I feel safe at UTA, but there are emails from the campus police every so often when there is an incident, so that kind of scares me a bit sometimes. I usually am walking with someone, so that makes me feel safe. I have never had a time at UTA where i felt in danger or unsafe.
Great for these types of students Everyone has a place a UTA, may sound cliche but its true.
What to do for fun There is a bowling alley and movie showings every so often at school. The Parks Mall is a few miles down the road and there are a lot of places to eat outside of the mall as well.
Food and Dining The cafeteria has a good selection. There is a market in the University Center that also has some quick food. They also have a Panda Express, Subway, a sushi place, and a Chic-fil-a that are all close to the market.
Dorm Life I would love to be able to comment on the dorm life at UTA, but i commute from where I live with my parents.
Academic Rigor The classes here aren't blow off classes. You really need to stay on top of studying and not wait last minute to cram.
Tips for prospective students Be open to meet all kinds of people and make a lot of new friends. Get involved in clubs or organizations linked with your major, because then you will see other students there and in many of your classes
In three sentences Everyone here is really friendly and helpful. If you get lost or turned around, just ask someone passing by and they will help you. The academics at UTA are really good and rigorous.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Our UTA police are the best out there. We have police stations and calling zones placed everywhere on campus. There is never an instance where you are more than one minute from the nearest police call box. The police are very professional and helpful, and they always make everyone feel secure, even when walking students out to their car at night.
Greek Life The Greek life on campus is intimate. Everyone knows everybody. A lot of hours are committed every week to community service, and houses are always hosting some sort of activity.
Clubs and Activities There is literally a million organizations on campus. Any interest, hobby or professional club that can be made has been made. All organizations are very active and often go out to volunteer around the community.
Great for these types of students UTA is a great school for students that wish to have their college experience fulfilled in a safe environment. All of our public events are always fun, but never get out of hand. It is also very easy to maintain a balance between student and social time.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The most amazing event we have on campus is called Ooze-ball. It is an annual mud volleyball tournament. It is always a huge event and EVERYONE comes out and plays and has an amazing time. If you're not a participant, then you are one of the spectators that are raving to the music. It's basically a huge party, but the volleyball is still the main attraction.
Bang for the buck UTA is one of the more reasonably priced public colleges in Texas. What stands out for UTA is how the open campus makes everything accessible to the average student. The Mavericks Activity Center is literally the best thing that UTA offers for free. It includes a very high-end gym, indoor and outdoor basketball and volleyball courts, soccer field, ping pong, video game consoles, computer area and even a climbing wall!
What to do for fun At UTA there is always an event happening at either the Maverick Activity Center, a movie showing at the University Center or event showing at the new Maverick Stadium. We have tennis courts, a high-tech gym and bowling and billiards available as well. Campus life is never dull, especially if you join the numerous organizations on campus.
Food and Dining We have a wide selection of fast food options as well as a buffet that is open almost all day. We also have a convenience store. Also, a new business complex has opened right next to campus that is geared towards University students and everything is reasonably priced.
Dorm Life The newer dorm buildings are spectacular. They are definitely above the average expectations of dorm buildings with the cleanliness. RAs are very involved with the residents and will keep us up to date with anything happening in the dorms.
Academic Rigor If you have the right professor, the academic expectations are set very high. However, the professors will push you to learn the correct material that you need to know and are always available during office hours to help any students that seek advice.
Tips for prospective students Make sure to create your schedule based on the professor. We have many amazing professors such as Dr. Allan Saxe and Dr. Jimmy Rogers.
In three sentences The University of Texas at Arlington is severely underrated. The level of experienced professors and modern equipment that is provided for students is well above the expectations going in. The only thing stopping this school from becoming Tier 1 is it's own football team.

Greek Life Greek life is where you join a Fraternity or Sorority to become social and leaders of the campus. They do community service and represent the school well.
Clubs and Activities There are many activities you can do on campus, you just have to find your fit.
Bang for the buck UT Arlington is a very reasonable price and offers a lot of scholarships and financial aid.
What to do for fun You can do a lot for fun. There's a bowling and billiards place you can go to for real cheap. You can also go the the Mavericks Activity Center and play basketball and many other games. You can have endless amounts of fun.

Dorm Life The dorm life is really great. You don't have to worry about parking and it's easy to just wake up and go to class. You have 24/7 access to the library and can walk to the gym. You will also meet several new people which will make the college life more enjoyable.
Academic Rigor The professors and staff really care about your academic studies. They want to really prepare you for the real world. There are several options you can use to help you succeed in college. Please take advantage of it.
Tips for prospective students Students that wish to go to UT Arlington should prepare themselves for the many challenges they will face. Such as studying at least two hours a day so they will not be behind, managing their time between work and school, and developing their social skills by joining different clubs and organizations.
In three sentences The University of Texas at Arlington is a great school to attend because the environment is beautiful and there are a lot of options the school offers for tutoring. Categories Comments Campus Safety Walking around late, we have the options of calling the campus security to give us a ride to where we need to go!
Clubs and Activities The Baptist Student Ministry is an awesome place to meet and hang out with friends, also to meet new ones! There are so many clubs on campus that I just can't keep up!!!
Great for these types of students Everyone that comes here can make the university their home, no matter who you are and where you come from!
Bang for the buck Tuition is so worth it being at UTA! Living on campus is pricy but it's all worth it for sure!
What to do for fun We have $1 movies on Friday nights on campus. There are awesome on campus events also! Like the Bash, it's like a big dance party in college park. If you have a car six flags, movie theaters, and a mall are near also.
Food and Dining Having food prepared for you is always awesome! There are good options and some not so good options as in many other cafeterias.
Dorm Life This is how you make those life time friends! Living on campus in the dorms is great especially for your freshman year if you won't know many people entering in. Nice options for living.
Academic Rigor It's pretty sweet! There are awesome tutoring opportunities if classes get hard. Ask for help from your adviser and they will be there for great advice!
Tips for prospective students Come! Make UTA your home and you will love it!
In three sentences The university is an awesome well diverse place. It's pretty hard not to make friends, and to get connected well. It's growing and I love it!!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Anytime after dark you need a ride to your car, dorm, or other building, you simply dial a number and ask for an escort. A golf cart will quickly come to you and take you anywhere you want to go. FOR FREE. There are Arlington Police officers everywhere and emergency poles that are directly connected to the police station at every corner. I almost feel more safe on campus than I do in my own home!
Greek Life We have a lovely Greek Row with colonial style houses. Everyone I know in Greek life loves it and has numerous faithful friends out of it. The Greek life here is very participating in philosophy, which is rare to find anywhere else.
Clubs and Activities If you have a hobby or interest, there is a club for you. If perhaps there is not a club, it is very easy to find friends and start your own. My favorite clubs are the ones for your major because when you go to apply for jobs the organization will set you apart from any other applicants.
Great for these types of students The UT at Arlington student has to be dedicated and ambitious. There is not much room for error here. The resources available for you are so endless that there is also no reason for you not to do well. The teachers have office hours, there are free tutors in almost every class, etc. All you have to do is put a first foot forward and you will excel.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus UTA has a culture on its own. The Annual Bed Races is a large attraction every year. There are races with beds on wheels moving by people pushing. Its fun and entertaining all at the same time. Also, all the buildings have secret study places nobody ever goes. One building even has a open area on the roof to study!
Bang for the buck UTA is very affordable and you do not have to go far from campus to get anything you want. There is not a lot of driving to be done for a full life in Arlington. The school is rising in research and the teachers are all awesome. There is free extra tutoring as well as paid by the hour. The resources to do well are endless.
What to do for fun There are TONS of things to do on and off campus. The off campus activities are obvious- Six Flags, Hurricane Harbor, Cowboys Stadium, and the Rangers Stadium. There are always free night for UTA students at Rangers Stadium. On campus activities include free food everywhere you go at lunch time. All the organizations want your support and they know exactly what to do with college students- free food.
Food and Dining We have everything you could possible want to eat conveniently located on campus. The food offered includes sushi, Chik-fil-A, Pizza Hut, and Subway. The cafeteria is all you can eat and the food is very good. No complaints!
Dorm Life I am biased towards my view to the dorm life, as I did not have compatible roommates. On the other hand, I know numerous people who have great roommates that have been with them for the entire time here at UTA. The dorms are nice and well kept, while random roommate assigning will be on the extremes of good or bad.
Academic Rigor I am choosing 4 stars because of the coursework I am currently studying. I am a biology major and am getting into my upper level coursework; therefore, the load is heavy and the course are tough. However, with hard work and lots of studying, you will do fine.
Tips for prospective students Look into all the scholarships available and study for the SAT/ACT. Do well in these, and you are surely ensured to a spot here at UT at Arlington. The campus is prestigious in the science fields and art as well, so if either of those interest you, work hard and you will succeed.
In three sentences This university is the place to be for anyone looking to be a part of a fast-growing school. UT at Arlington will make you feel at home, push your limits, and grow you as a better person in general. The campus life will mature you, allowing you form opinions about controversial topics in the news, while the staff is always there to help with anything you need.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I always feel safe walking on campus. Every year the student council goes for a walk after dark and determines which areas need better lighting or perhaps are too far away from a security call box.
Greek Life Greek Life at UTA is huge. Their slogan is Find your Fit, they truly emphasize finding a fraternity or sorority that fits you, your personality, and what you want out of the experience. And since we have a multicultural council in addition to traditional greek life it is possible. Almost all the leaders on campus are Greek or have ties with Greek life in one way or another.
Clubs and Activities As I said earlier there are so many clubs and activities on campus.
Great for these types of students There is definitely a strong international community and support system for international students. Also great for students looking for challenging coursework while still having time to enjoy life.
Bang for the buck I have truly enjoyed my time at UTA. I commute from home which makes money downright cheap. I feel like my professors are really preparing me for a job in my field but I am getting the entire college experience at the same time.
What to do for fun So much! Just stop by any bulletin board and you can find at least 10 things to do any given weekend. Almost every Friday night there's a free movie, and then special events like International Week are another excellent chance to meet new people. Not to mention Bowling and Billiards on campus where people often go just to hang out.
Food and Dining No one I know eats in the actual cafeteria but the food court has an ok selection, Chick-Fil-A, Subway, Panda Express etc. Also they just built many brand new restaurants in the College Park District that are very trendy. Some even have live music and other entertainment on the weekends.
Dorm Life While I never lived in the dorms, many of my friends did. As with anywhere it really just depends on what you make of it. If you go out and talk to people then you'll have a great time whereas if you stay in your room chances are not so much.
Academic Rigor Classes are challenging but not impossible. The nursing school (being one of the best in the country) is very hard to get into but their state of the art equipment and professors makes it worth it. The engineering program is also rigorous but gives you a lot of independent opportunities to make a name for yourself in academia due to the research taking place.
Tips for prospective students There are so many clubs so be sure to get involved in something! If they don't have exactly what you want then start it! It truly is the best way to make friends and feel that Maverick Pride!
In three sentences The key to the awesomeness at the University of Texas at Arlington is its balance of big school resources and research with small school attitude of caring. They make everything comfortable for commuters and residents alike and even though you're in the middle of one of the largest urban areas in the country it still feels like a small college town once you're on campus.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Some shady stuff can occur but just remember to be with a buddy at night. Just like any other campus...crazy people are everywhere even in the safest places in the country.
Greek Life good if you enjoy socializing and getting involved on campus. Also very tight knit but everyone can get involve somehow.
Clubs and Activities Too many clubs to list so pick your poison when you get here.
Great for these types of students If you enjoy being active, regularly go to the MAC to do sports, study and socialize.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus On a nice day, simply walk around the ENTIRE campus and bring work with you. You'll discover new places, good places to study and possibly new people.
Bang for the buck Good prices for the education.
What to do for fun Go out with friends, work out, get involved with either campus activities or Greek life.
Food and Dining Get a meal plan that includes more dining dollars than meal. The caf© food is sub-par 70% of the time.
Dorm Life LIVE ON CAMPUS FIRST COUPLE OF YEARS. You meet new people and are right there next to your classes.
Academic Rigor Engineering is tough and so are the other program but stick with it. If you cant get it the first time that's ok. Just get help.
Tips for prospective students Study, go to class, get plenty of sleep each night, don't cram and study whenever you can. Also, enjoy yourself by regularly going out and working out.

Categories Comments What to do for fun The gym, different organizations, school spirit. Not that hard to look around and find something fun to do.
Food and Dining The places required for the meal plan. Some things are overpriced in the Plaza food court and the Connection Caf© has a variety of options with the main entrees most always unhealthy
Dorm Life It is how you want it to be. You can choose to partake in activities or you can choose to stay in your room.
Academic Rigor Depends on the teacher. Some teachers will push you harder than others.
Tips for prospective students Stay organized, get plenty of sleep, and eat a well-balanced diet with enough water consumption. Stay rooted to your faith and don't be afraid to speak up. You can be mature and responsible and still have a great time.
In three sentences UTA has a lot of diversity and teachers teaching what they know. They value your opinion and have a lot of fun events to attend. They are a business though, and will seek all kinds of ways to get your money.

Clubs and Activities There is a club here for everyone. You can find an organization based on culture, educational interests, or a hobby.
Great for these types of students This college is great for full time and part time students. The college caters to working students as well as full time students. Both myself and my uncle feel right at home, regardless of our age difference.
Bang for the buck I am ver happy with price of my education at UT Arlington. In fact, that is one of the factors that helped me to decide which college to attend. This college has an excellent reputaion and an affordable price.
What to do for fun There are so many exciting student organizations and societies on campus. I am looking forward to joining a few myself. There are also activities and celebrations and even great seminars to attend.
Food and Dining The food on campus is healthy and delicious. I try to eat there whenever I'm on campus.
Dorm Life I will not be living in the campus dorms this semester, but I have many friends who love the campus environment. It seems to be a very safe, clean and education-focused environment.
Academic Rigor This will be my first semester of attendance, but after looking over my schedule, I feel an exciting challenge drawing near!

Categories Comments Campus Safety We get emails if there are any safety concerns and there are always police around campus so it's generally safe even though we do hear about assaults/theft every now and then.
Greek Life To be totally honest, Greek Life doesn't even seem to play a big role in the school. Everyone seems pretty neutral towards them and they do their own thing.
Clubs and Activities The school has clubs and activities to cater to most everyone's interests and new clubs can always be created so I'd say UTA has a nice selection.
Great for these types of students This school is great for students who don't really care about partying and just want to get an education for cheaper than average price.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus UTA has some pretty interesting yearly events like the bed races, it's really entertaining to watch!
Bang for the buck I'd say you get your money's worth from the school, it's nice enough and cheap.
What to do for fun Since six flags is close by, that's where I'm going to spend my summer break.
Food and Dining there are new restaurants open in the college park area and they're okay. A bit too pricey for my liking and I wish they were open later.
Dorm Life I'm staying in the new dorms, Vandergriff so it's pretty nice and we have events for our residence area to create a more tight-knit feel so I like it.
Academic Rigor The classes aren't all that challenging. However, this depends on your major so if you're in architecture, expect it to be brutal.
Tips for prospective students Since the social scene is lacking, I'd recommend joining clubs or a sorority/fraternity if you're into that kind of thing. Although the student body is fairly approachable, it isn't that easy to make friends when it's still mostly a commuter school.
In three sentences It's cheaper than other universities. It's diverse. The social scene is a little dead.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Always officers on patrol around campus, golf carts are available to escort students around campus late at night.
Greek Life Present, but not dominant in the culture of the university.
Clubs and Activities Every major has at least one group or society associated with it. Extra-curricular opportunities are available in hundreds of shapes and sizes.
Great for these types of students Students not necessarily looking for the traditional college experience. Without a football team or super extravagant Greek life, students can focus more on school rather than external influences.
Bang for the buck UTA is reasonably priced compared to other public universities, especially being in Arlington. It's not a fast-paced, live hard environment so affordability is everywhere.
What to do for fun The MAC has extensive exercise equipment, indoor/outdoor pools, volleyball courts, soccer fields, and dozens of Intramural sports available to all students.
Food and Dining There are several on-campus dining options, from snacks in the convenience market to an all you can eat buffet, dining options are affordable and usually healthy.
Dorm Life I live in an on campus apartment, neighbors are friendly and not having to commute is a great boon to my academic performance.
Academic Rigor UTA is fairly laid back. Science and engineering is more rigorous than other programs, and they require lecture attendance and laboratory performance.
Tips for prospective students Go to class, don't let yourself get behind on your work.
In three sentences The diversity at UTA allows development of a global perspective for all majors. Teachers are typically flexible with office hours and check email regularly to help with any problems. Campus advising centers are good at replying in an acceptable amount of time, appointments are easy to make and usually right to the point.
