DON'T GET YOUR TEXTBOOKS FROM THE BOOKSTORE. They're waaaay overpriced. Check to see if they're on reserve or available for checkout at the library. lib.utsa.edu. I've literally saved hundreds of dollars by checking out the books and scanning them, rather than buying them. If you absolutely need to get them, rent them from amazon, usually the cheapest. As a student, you can create an amazon prime account and the book delivers within two days. Just make sure to cancel your membership (it's only free for a certain time) before they charge you. If you need the UTSA edition, then you don't have a choice but to do bookstore. DON'T BUY YOUR BOOKS BEFORE CLASS STARTS! Professor might not need them. Make sure to ask when they hand out the syllabus. If you ask if the book is on reserve and the professor says no, still look it up! That professor may not have placed a copy, but another one teaching the same course may have! Another note, the food court DT is so much better. And if you're going to get a regular cup of coffee, don't buy Startbucks, buy from the Pod. It's cheaper!

It is like going to a normal state school, but you pay less and aren't required to live on campus your first year whether you live in San Antonio or not. (Although this might be changing as UTSA is aiming to become a Tier 1 school). What you pay is what you get, and a little more. :)
