Categories Comments Great for these types of students That want the small campus experience; this way you are able to get more hands on experience. It is also right for people who know they belong at Tuskegee. You should most definitely come to Tuskegee if they're known for your major. ( I DID!!!)
Tips for prospective students FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS!!!!! Remember why your here and put everything else on the back burner. Join organizations that fit who you are and those that will also make your resume look better. Talk to advisors, upper-classmen, and make friends that want the same thing out of life as you do. Stay true to yourself and the person that you are. Study; you came to college to get an education. Get it!!! The information is available for you all you have to do is get it.
Bang for the buck Tuskegee is a school like no other and that I can say proudly. We're ranked the Number 1 HBCU in Alabama. The lessons that I learn both inside and outside of the classroom are preparing me for the Real World. However I have found issues that make me question my decision on coming here. For starters the living situations are not the best, administrator's in the Bursar's office will give you a hassle, and I am envious of Auburn's Student Union and library. Many of the books in our main library are outdated and there are not enough things in our Union to hold every one's interest.
Am enjoying being here I'm from a small town so Tuskegee feels comfortable to me. However there is nothing really to do in the city of Tuskegee if you do not party. You have to travel to Auburn, Montgomery, or the other surrounding areas. Overall it's okay. During homecoming there were lots of activities to become involved in. And occasionally there are other things occurring on the campus to hold interest. I just tend to get bored often.
Am learning a lot I'm a freshman at Tuskegee and I just finished my 1st semester. As an Animal Poultry and Veterinary Science Major I have learned so much more than I expected. I was expecting to only become a Vet with my major but our APSC 100 class taught me to open my eyes to other careers in the field. The work is sometimes too much too handle but it can be done if you prioritize accordingly. Other than that you are going to learn a lot and personally my last semester was fairly easier than expected.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students gotta be organized! gotta be focused! but you gotta have fun from time to time. So if Tuskegee is right for you then send your stuff in. look forward to ball and parlaying with you! HEEEYYY TUSKEGEEEEE!!!!!!
Tips for prospective students Get your GPA up in high school. start appling now!!! keep your options open. Tuskegee isnt for everybody, its for you. Also ladies, look out for the greeks when you get here, if you lookin right they will certainly notice lol. fellas dont try to get in no relationship right away, play the field, learn. you;ll learn quickly which girls are dateable and which are off limits. by second semester things will calm down enough for you to make a good decision. lol
Bang for the buck now dont get me wrong tuskegee is a great school but theres gonna be times where you get fed up with how much you have to pay compared to the service you get. but its all part of the experience and will make you better off in the long run
Am enjoying being here I enjoy Tuskegee, but you gotta be prepared for the black college experience which is the best there is. be prepared to have a roommate, be prepared for cold showers sometimes. be prepared to wait in long lines at the cafeteria, caf its the top hbcu in alabama, and number 6 in the country. great school. if you can make it here and survive with black folks. you can make it anywhere and deal with anybody.
Am learning a lot You learn soo much at Tuskegee, im a history major here, so my schedule is pretty easy. lots of room for electives. If you are a guy then you should try and stay in young as a freshman, thats the best male freshman dorm. the other one, bethune looks like garbage. plus young has won the freshman step show 5 years a row. (Young Hall is SMooth!)

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students 1. Get off of facebook. 2. Get out of your dorm room. 3. Get involved! Stay involved! 4. Join a club/organization. 5. Meet people different from yourself. 6. Take Mr. Philips' Black Aesthetic course, 7. Take Archery 8. Take Dr. Bales for 107 9. Take any of Dr. Hannon's sociology courses. 10. Be early to the caf on Wednesday.
Bang for the buck As high as the tuition is, with scholarships and grants from the university and outside sources Tuskegee actually became my least expensive choice. It is a private school so money is a major issue but if you made good grades in high school you shouldn't let the sticker shock deter you and see how much you can get from the school before you make your final decision. There's definitely money out there.
Am enjoying being here Tuskegee is in a small little country town; there's just no getting around it. While there's some things I'd like to improve about the campus there's just no place I'd rather be. If you get out of your dorm room and off of facebook and take advantage of the different organizations on campus you're bound to find ways to keep yourself entertained and meet a diverse group of people in the process (hopefully somebody who has a car if you haven't got one lol). You'll come to find 'Skegee is like it's own little secret society (the school hazes you freshmen and sophomore year... you'll figure it out lol) and there's just something about it that'll make your heart swell up with pride after you return from a long summer. On another note, there's life in Montgomery and Auburn and while Auburn is a larger public university with more resources even the black students from Auburn come to Tuskegee to hang out when they feel homesick. I got in to both but Tuskegee chose me. :-)
Am learning a lot I'm a Junior English major and I can definitely say I have learned a lot since I've been here. I've always excelled in school and although I've managed to maintain above a 3.0 GPA my entire time here while maintaining a pretty fruitful social life, I definitely have had to put in work. I can't say any of the workloads I've been challenged with thus far have been unreasonable but time management is key. I can't stress that enough (even if you're good at a subject you still have to study or put forth effort into writing papers or what have you so you MUST make time for working/studying). Since I've been here I've taken advantage of several different programs that have given me the opportunity to go to Orlando twice for a competition as well as to spend part of my summer at Emory University in Atlanta for a fellowship (I'll be at Duke this fall for a conference and who knows where else next summer) and that's just me. This summer I have friends from all different majors all around the country and world at internships and fellowships. There's a ridiculous amount of opportunities to expand your horizons in this tiny ol' town but you've got to go and get them.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Pre-Vet, Nursing, Engineering, and Business Administration. This is a very well rounded school with students from Louisiana, California, New York, Alaska and even the West Indies. Everyone is welcome.
Tips for prospective students School is always first. Know who you are when you are coming in as to not get lost throughout your journey here. There are plenty of influences, positive and negative but always keep your eye on the prize.
Bang for the buck This institution is private so the tuition is the same for in-state and out-of-state students. In the long run once you have that cap and gown and your degree you will think everything was worth it.
Am enjoying being here Tuskegee University is what you make of it. The diversity of things to do on campus is very large and the organizations and events are endless. There will be plenty of times where you get frustrated with this school but If you manage to link up with the right people and attend the right functions your experience here will be like no other.
Am learning a lot I am a Chemical Engineering major and this subject is not one to play with. My classmates are constantly working hard day in and day out on design projects and lab work. The courses here are strenuous but in the end it is so rewarding. I will have the knowledge that matches any of the other students attending the top engineering schools in the country.

Tips for prospective students Network and study and HAVE FUN! Tuskegee is in the middle of nowhere so there are plenty of times that you will be bored but you just have to make the most of it and have fun. Meet new people and dont sit your dorm all day.
Bang for the buck Its expensive and the money is not being shown. But they did renovate two buildings and built a brand new student union.
Am enjoying being here I love the enthusiam and spirit that Tuskegee has. I have seen no other school get excited for the little things and I love that!

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Come with an open mind and be ready to take in all that Tuskegee has to offer. Never go anywhere alone (especially off campus). Always remember why you are here and do not get too caught up in partying.
Bang for the buck For the price that you pay to be here I would definitely say that the education is completely worth it if you actually take advantage of it. On the downside, some of the dorms arent the greatest an you will always be stuck in the paper chase of the administration. And there is hardly any city life around for miles and miles.
Am enjoying being here I was hesitant about coming here and I think that is is the best decision that I have ever made. Coming from a major city I thought that the transition to the country lifestyle would be a hard one, but it was the smoothest change ever. The people are nice and the surroundings are beautiful. I have found the most amazing group of friends ever and I dont think that I would feel as at home if I would have attended any other college.
Am learning a lot Many people don't give HBCU's the credit that they deserve. I have learned so much both in the classroom and out. The student body is very divers and the curriculum is challenging (depending on the amount of credit hours you take).

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This school is great for any and every student. Tuskegee will accept who ever walks on their campus with open arms. The students, faculty, and staff will ensure that they help you in any way that they can to get you ready for not just the business world, but also the real world.
Tips for prospective students When you come here be ready to be challenged both mentally and physically. There will be times where you just want to quit and go home but remember this is going to help you in the long run. Everything that goes on here will toughen you up and get you ready for the real world and business world. This is a great school filled with many different people who are smart and ready to help if necessary.
Bang for the buck The tuition may seem high, but for everything that you are offered and given it is well worth every dollar. From the resources open to each student, the gyms, the cafe, tutoring all of these resources make it well worth the money.
Am enjoying being here Everyday on this campus is a day for meeting new people and finding fun and productive things to do. There are many clubs, organizations, community service events and other ways to make out of class time enjoyable. Every few days there might be a different event going on to keep everyone having a good time.
Am learning a lot Here at Tuskegee there are many different ways of keeping a student motivated and moving forward to gaining nothing but A's out of all of his/her classes. Within each of the different colleges on the campus are the various tools each student needs to keep building themselves up. Tools such as; computer labs, study rooms, and professors that are willing to stay later than their usual office hours to help. On top of that there are tutoring sessions throughout the day with more than one person tutoring so if there is something they do not know then the next person will.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Those that like smaller classes with more interaction with the teacher.
Tips for prospective students FOCUS! Do not be one of those first-year students that has to get a wake-up call their first semester and play catch-up the second. If you don't have a car, it helps to find friends that do because TU can get boring.
Bang for the buck I don't see where the money is going for TU to cost as much as it does. Administration also screws up financial aid sometimes and gives you the run-around.
Am enjoying being here There are a lot of activities to be involved in on campus. On the downside, there is nothing to do in the city of Tuskegee unless you party. Other than that, you have to go to Auburn or Montgomery. It's even worse if you don't have a car.
Am learning a lot I am learning a lot from the classes that go with my major (computer science and math). On the other hand, a lot of the other recommended first-year classes are repeats of what was done in high school. It's not bad, just redundant but I don't feel like I'm missing out on a learning experience.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Academically involved Social extroverts Students that take pride in their University Students looking to impact the world as a whole Students looking to succeed
Tips for prospective students - GO TO CLASS - Get to know your professors - Study!!!!! - Make sure you are financially clear prior to the start of the year. - Apply for scholarships - If you are able to experience Tuskegee share it with others. - Be open minded - Take time to learn some of the history of Tuskegee - Have fun in your spare time! - Be ready to meet a variety of people - Remember you are working toward building a professional person
Bang for the buck Tuition at Tuskegee is very expensive because it is a private institution. Alumni, Investors, as well as the University's newly appointed President are all working in collaboration to assure students that Tuskegee Univerisity continues to grow (new buidings, new programs, better technology).
Am enjoying being here There is no atmostphere like TUSKEGEE!!!! The Tuskegee experience is a vast compilation of academic excellence and social superiority. Younger students are allowed the time time and environment to find themselves under the close watch and guidance of older more knowledgable students.
Am learning a lot Tuskegee University provides one of the most diverse learning environments of any institution I have seen. The opportunity to learn something new, both inside and outside of the classroom is always present.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students who like to meet new people, students who want to learn more about their black history, and anyone who is interested in earning a degree from a prestigious university like Tuskegee.
Tips for prospective students Bring a car, stay on top of administration, and stay focused with your studies (it is very easy to fall behind)
Bang for the buck It is worth it but you have to make sure you stay on time of administration. Sometimes they have trouble keeping important documents that hold you back from being financially cleared. But for the quality education we are receiving it is worth it.
Am enjoying being here Tuskegee is a community of loving people but since it is in a rural area it may be hard to get places without a car.
Am learning a lot The courses that every student must take are challenging but well worth it. Tuskegee is known for the quality education that students are given.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Everyone
Tips for prospective students STUDY and FOCUS!!! Those are the two most important things to do here and there's not a lot out here so it shouldn't be that hard. If you have any problems with any subject DO NOT be afraid to ask for help because people will help you understand and pass the course and you won't have to repeat it. So stay smart and focused but also have fun.
Bang for the buck Tuskegee University is a bit pricey because it is a private school. I know for sure for certain majors you get your moneys worth.
Am enjoying being here I come from a small area outside of Atlanta but have been used to the city life. When I came to Tuskegee, there was a big change from city to country but with the right attitude and group of friends you'll have a great time. I'm an Architect major and because people in my major are always around each other in classes we bound very closely and quick.
Am learning a lot This school is a very historic school to attend. While you spend your time here in your studies, you also learn a lot about the history of the campus as well because ever since it was founded, there has been many events that make the city and campus historical.

Categories Comments Campus Safety the campus is safe and if there are any problems, incidents can be reported to the campus police.
Greek Life there are the traditional african-american fraternities and sororities on campus.
Clubs and Activities there are many clubs that are affiliated with different fields of study at the university. there are non-academic clubs and organizations that focus on political and civil rights issues. the naacp, the marching pipers band, and concert choir are some to name a few.
Great for these types of students tuskegee is ideal for students who do not mind being in a rural area and are very much interested in the sciences.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus tuskegee university has a rich history that began with booker t. washington the first president of the university. booker t. washington was an author, an educator and a political leader. george washington carver a renowned scientist, inventor and professor at tuskegee revolutionized the world of agriculture. the first squadron of african-american pilots to fight in ww ii trained at tuskegee and became known as the red tails or the tuskegee airmen.
Bang for the buck considering the cost of the school, the location, and the hands on experiences, i feel the university provides its students with a stimulating and worthwhile learning experience.
What to do for fun if you want to have fun on campus there are seasonal sports to attend such as football and basketball games. in addition, different organizations host various events on campus. there are talent and fashion shows as well. if you want to have fun off campus auburn and montgomery are nearby towns not too far from tuskegee. there are also a host of parties students can attend on and off campus.
Food and Dining presently the original dining hall is undergoing renovations. in the interim, another facility is used to accommodate students. this dining area can be overcrowded at times and servings and choices are limited. however, there are two other eateries on campus if you don't like cafeteria-style food. off campus and in the city of tuskegee there are five fast food restaurants (quiznos, mcdonald's kfc, etc.) and at least three other local eateries. from what i understand, the renovations for the original cafeteria will be completed in the near future.
Dorm Life dormitory life is interesting. sometimes there are activities that take place which bring about camaraderie within the dormitory such as the dorm step show competition. there are also other events that take place on the different floors in the dormitory. one downside to living in the dormitory is the microwave policy.
Academic Rigor some of the courses are moderately fair while others are intense. there are support systems in place if you need help. it is important to meet with your advisers and instructors who can assist you. i have taken some advanced courses, as an incoming freshman, that have been very difficult and even stressful at times. however, most of my instructors have supported my efforts and will make themselves or other support staff available to assist a student in need.
Tips for prospective students for prospective students you need to be prepared to do things for yourself, yet be willing to ask questions when you need assistance. the upperclassmen are helpful and most of the staff is supportive. there is a tutoring center and there are organizations that you can get involved in once you get situated with college life.
In three sentences tuskegee university is a great school. coming from an ethnically diverse high school, i feel this university is rich in history and culture. the academic curriculum for students interested in the sciences is phenomenal because these programs offer hands on experiences.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Their seem to be a lot of campus activities going on. They also have tennis courts, pools, and etc..
Food and Dining I have not yet experienced the food and dining.
Dorm Life I toured White Hall and I liked the set up of the suite style dorm.
Academic Rigor I have heard from students and staff that they are very strict about academics. I will definitely enjoy being apart of that.
Tips for prospective students I am a prospective student so I can not give many tips, but stay focus.
In three sentences I rate Tuskegee as being a prestigious HBCU. There campus is beautiful, and there staff and students are friendly. I would recommend Tuskegee to any student who is looking for the right college.

Greek Life Greek life is great!
Clubs and Activities There are beyond enough clubs and activities to join, and find one that suits your own personality.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Our campus is very historical.
What to do for fun There's plenty of things to do, not so much in the city but Auburn is 15 minutes away. I believe people make the outsome of any situation so fun is everywhere I go.
Food and Dining There is variety.
Dorm Life Dorms are getting better each year. You get to meet a lot of new people, I'm glad to have lived in a dorm.
Tips for prospective students Do not procrastinate and get involved
In three sentences Tuskegee University is the best school choice I could have made. Yes the school has to grow on you but it has great academic programs and majors. I recommend this school to anyone willing to put in the work.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Great for the types of students that are used to being in a small town, and have no problems with being easily distracted from work.
Tips for prospective students Be wary of all the events going on. Some of them have a tendency to be one week away from midterms or finals, so please don't let yourself be too distracted by the festivities. Enjoy yourselves, but not so much that you don't go to class, or worse, do badly on exams.
Bang for the buck Though going to Tuskegee University costs alot, especially if you don't have financial aid, I definitely think it's worth it, because of my major. Tuskegee is said to have one of the best Nursing programs in Alabama, so I just grin and bear it, so to speak.
Am enjoying being here I like the fact that there is always something going on on campus, but if you're not into clubbing, it can get pretty boring. As a person from Tuskegee, I know first-hand that there is absolutely nothing to do, such as going to the mall, movies, etc, unless you are willing to travel at least 30 minutes to get there. And if you don't have a car? Oh well....the dorms can be kind of shifty, though I am hoping the one I'm placed in this year will be better. Girls: beware of Adams Hall! White Hall is one of the best on campus.
Am learning a lot I am an upcoming sophomore with a Nursing major, which is said to be one of the hardest majors at Tuskegee University. While I am hoping for that not to be completely true, I have personally gone through the set Nursing students' schedule, and it is grueling, despite the fact that I was only a freshman. I've learned to be patient with myself, and know that I came here for an education, and no matter how hard it may seem, the end results will be well worth it. I've also learned from other students mistakes to avoid partying too close to midterms or any other exams. I'ts not worth a night of partying to get an F on an exam-it may not seem like it, but it definitely affercts your GPA in the long run.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students All types, really.
Tips for prospective students Don't get caught up in the college life. A better way to say it: have a social life and have fun, but not too much fun. Remember your academics is why you're at Tuskegee to begin with.
Bang for the buck Tuskegee isn't cheap, I will not sugar coat it or anything. But for all you learn and your experience as a college student, it's well worth it. At times you may disagree, but believe me, it's worth every penny.
Am enjoying being here Everyone is so friendly! It's not hard to make friends at all, and there is a lot of school spirit, I learned that day 1. The campus is quite nice to look at, as well as historical. The atmosphere is welcoming.
Am learning a lot They say there is nothing like the Tuskegee Experience, and truer words have never been spoken. You will definitely learn a lot in and out the classroom, and about everything from yourself to the opposite sex to life in general.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus is safe as it can be. Just make sure you lock your car door and room door at all times.
Greek Life To become a Greek here is hard to do, but can be done if you have the time and patient for everything they will ask you to do and pay.
Clubs and Activities They have many clubs and activities on campus, you just have to visit the student union often to find out what's going on.
Great for these types of students If you like peace and quite this is a great place to be.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Any new building being built on campus must use bricks from the old building it's replacing. This is a tradition here at Tuskegee.
Bang for the buck The campus is beautiful and the people here are so nice. A lot of the neighborhood people hang out on campus which is OK sometimes, but not all the time. If you are a person who can be on their own and away from their family for a length of time, then you could really have a great experience here at Tuskegee University.
What to do for fun There's nothing to do outside of the school. The community surrounding the school is not great, you have to go to Auburn, Montgomery or Atlanta to have some fun. If you don't have a car Oh Well :(
Food and Dining Food is not so great! It's a meal if you are hungry!
Dorm Life Dorm life is great as a freshman, but you can get distracted easily with all the school activities.
Academic Rigor Depending on the subject it can be difficult.
Tips for prospective students If you are from a big city be ready for a big cultural shock!
In three sentences Great Experience

Categories Comments Campus Safety campus safety are police officers from the city's precinct posted on campus 24/7.
Greek Life we have the divine nine as well as various service fraternities and sororities.
Clubs and Activities there are many clubs and activities each are fun and provide great opportunities for the future.
Great for these types of students the school is great for any type of student!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus every incoming student has to attend the summer orientation and learn the chants we sing during games and gatherings. also certain days out of the week everyone gathers on the yard to listen to music and participate in various activities based on who's hosting that day.
Bang for the buck the tuskegee experience is definitely worth the money. i would not change it for anything. i have met so many professors friends and other students who have made an impact on my life. academic wise i believe i am prepared to face anything out in the real world.
What to do for fun for fun there are student activities provided in the student union such as pool or ping pong. the school provides intramurals for certain sports and we also have university day on the school yard. the football and basketball games are always exciting. you can join sport teams or just come out to support.
Food and Dining there are various types of food in the cafeteria ranging form cold sandwiches to pizza, stir fry, macaroni and cheese, chicken, burgers and fish. they also provide a salad bar and a place where you can get cookies.
Dorm Life dorm life gives the typical college experience. you experience rooming with different personalities and meet people from various places. there are many dorm activities, the most exciting being the dorm step show. each dorm competes against each other for a chance to perform during homecoming.
Academic Rigor many of the colleges on tuskegee's campus possess professors that present a rigorous course load, however it is also manageable. although the work is hard and demanding and the professor may be strict, there is no reason any student should fail. there are so many study sessions and most professors provide one on one tutoring during office hours.
Tips for prospective students study hard and become involved. there are a lot of professors and tutors willing to help. many students form study groups which is always good because you can study with friends and classmates of the same major. join organizations that relate to your future careers and or majors, it helps your resume and allows you to network.
In three sentences tuskegee university is a great historical and traditional school. while maintaining its tradition the school also balances it with modern activities that excite students today. it also has a great academic environment in which both the teachers and students work together as one to achieve success.

Categories Comments Campus Safety campus security takes their job very seriously and protecting the students is a number 1 priority. if a female is walking after hours it is campus security's job to escort her to their room to make sure they are safe. also to enter into campus you must have an identification card that is also something else that campus security is responsible for.
Greek Life greek life is very open at tuskegee. we have the divine 9 organizations and we have a few service organizations on campus. any organization that you are a part of, you will be very proud of it at tuskegee university
Clubs and Activities there are clubs for everybody at tuskegee. there is the international club for diverse students, engineering club for engineering students there is even a club for students that drive bmws. you will fit in anywhere there are activities for everyone.
Great for these types of students if you are the studying book worm type then the library would be great for you. if you love to party then going off campus is your best bet for fun. any type of studentyou are tuskegee has what you are looking for.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus the ave is a place you must go once on campus. the biggest events happen here like probates and block parties if you are not on the ave you are missing out on a lot of funny.
Bang for the buck tuskegee is a very expensive institution and the things that tuskegee has to offer you can get at any school at a cheaper price but you will never get an experience like the tuskegee experience.
What to do for fun there are many events happening everyday from speed dating to just relaxing on the yard and having a picnic. as long as you are open minded to trying new things then you should have plenty of fun.
Food and Dining the southern cooking and hospitality that is given in the cafeteria is some of the best food ever. the employees are very nice and approachable also. we have a fast food restaurant on campus and a cafe that will make your monday mornings feel like friday afternoons
Dorm Life the university sitings on campus are very historic and these certain buildings would include the dorms on campus grounds. the dorms may have a bit of wear and tear but that is because they have been made in later years and that is to be expected. the good thing about this is that the architecture that was used made the rooms really big and they really accommodate students these days
Academic Rigor tuskegee is a very prestigious institution and takes its academic studies very seriously. the universities curriculum is based on your specific major and they also focus on your specific needs into helping you graduate college on time.
Tips for prospective students as a prospective student you will want to be open-minded and very patient with the universities quota. you will also want to stay focused in college although it is alright to have fun you must always put your education first because that's why you are there in the first place.
In three sentences tuskegee university is a profound institution and has created some of the greatest inventors and engineers of this time. tuskegee university is very historic and it is a perfect place for students who like small community based schools but still want to have fun with friends. this university has allotted me with many opportunities that i am looking forward to exploring someday.

Categories Comments Campus Safety We have a iron gate surrounding the campus with 24hr security. Also we have a police station on campus as well as security escorts.
Greek Life We have the divine nine or panhelic Greek council on campus, along with honor Greek societies for certain majors.
Great for these types of students We have all types of students here, and honestly EVERYONE fits in. This is the Irish school I have been to where students are not judged or ostracized based on their likes, views, or dislikes.
Food and Dining Different food is served on different days, but we have many choices both delicious and nutritious. My favorite is fired chicken Wednesdays where they serve tradition southern style meals.
Dorm Life It depends on what dorm you stay in. Honors and upperclassmen dorms are better. It's almost like seniority. But there are apartments available and Co-Ed living.
Academic Rigor Depending on your major courses will be more rigorous than others (ex. Aerospace engineering, biology, nursing, psychology, architecture, finance, accounting, mechanical engineering, chemistry, agricultural sciences, and animal science are just to name a few.
Tips for prospective students Maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 or higher. Participate in organizations in high school to grow and develop teamwork skills. ACT score of 18+

Categories Comments Campus Safety The entire campus is always being monitored by police. We have a police station on campus so no one's life is ever threatened. I feel more safe on campus than I do off campus, so I'm assuming that it is a very safe and secure place to be.
Greek Life I am not apart of Greek life, but I would like to be. The school is somewhat small so everyone is acquainted with one another. When your friends pledge, it's a beautiful thing so you can only imagine if you were to also.
Clubs and Activities There is so much to do throughout your experience at Tuskegee. Joining clubs and organizations allow you to meet more people who have your similar interest. It also helps you focus more in school and stay involved with what's going on.
Great for these types of students If you are an Animal Science, Architecture, Business, Nursing, or Engineering major, then this University is perfect for you. Of course the University offers more, but these subjects are known at the college throughout the world. I am an English major and I love that I chose Tuskegee; therefore, this goes to show you that choosing something different is okay.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus During football games, everyone often arrives four hours before the game so that they can get a seat under the shed. The shed has been apart of the Tuskegee experience for years. It's only there to block the students from the sun; however, getting a seat under the shed, it's impossible.
Bang for the buck Tuskegee University is definitely costly, but I would not have chosen any other college ever. The experience you receive from attending the school is more important than what you pay out of pocket. Scholarships are offered yearly and I've heard that the final walk that you take across the stage when you graduate, is worth all the money in the world.
What to do for fun There are several things to do for fun. Joining organizations, becoming associated with your classmates through activities, and Greek life are all included. Activities are limitless on campus and you can always find something to join or somewhere to fit in.
Food and Dining The food at Tuskegee University can sometimes be delicious and other times like normal cafeteria food. All Universities have the same menu when it comes to the cafeteria; however, some days are better than others.
Dorm Life Dorm life is quite costy, but the opportunities and lessons that you acquire while staying in the dorms are priceless. You meet more people and you develop a relationship with those people as well. You also learn what it's like to live with more than just yourself.
Academic Rigor The education that you receive while you're there, it helps you find out more about your educational skills and what you may need help in. This is what college is mainly about, finding yourself and finding out what you love to do.
Tips for prospective students If you attend Tuskegee, know that the school is full of life. The professors are always willing to help a student and the campus life is never boring. You will never experience a dull moment and there are tons of people for you to meet. Also, learn the history because it created the school and has influenced several student's lives.

Categories Comments Campus Safety My family was most concerned about the campus safety. Being the first girl to go off to college safety was the biggest issue. My parents stressed that if i didn't feel safe then i should let them know. I feel very safe on campus. we have 24 hour security in and outside the dorms. The campus police are also 24 hours if every a problem were to a rise, or if you are a female and need a ride from one part of campus to your dorm and its late.
Greek Life Greek life is the best, though im not apart of it officially i love Greek week. Its gets the student body to excited to what new creative events the Greeks come up with for us to participate in. not only do the Greeks so face during Greek week but they are also involved year around in different community services projects and other activities on campus.
Clubs and Activities I am currently on the pre-alumni, SGA community service and the Illinois club. I love and enjoy each of them. Tuskegee University has a club for each state. So everyone from a certain state can come together and meet. and we have a taste of the states where each state sets up a table with different dishes known from their state. Each state club also has the privilege to come up with different ways to raise money for there club.
Food and Dining Going off to college the food was the main thing peopled talked about and it wasn't talked about in a good way. The food, surprisingly at Tuskegee University wasn't as bad as i expected. Of course everyone has their own preference when it comes to food. The salad bar i love it have every and anything you wanted to put on your salad. Another favorite of mine would be the pizza and sub sandwiches. Non of the food is horrible. as far as the facility it is big and spacious.
Dorm Life Dorm Life can be great experience if you embrace it. Each dorm have meeting to bond to update you and your peers on any matters going on. Activities to help you bond with each other are created by the dorm CAs. There are two dorm competition every year. one is the dorm step show and the other is the best dorm decorations during homecoming week. Both help you to meet new people and create new relationships.
Academic Rigor Classes are challenging. That's the great part though, they challenge you so that your learning and not just passing. nothing they give you to do is impossible to do. the professors are also there to help if you find yourself struggling.
Tips for prospective students Learn as most about the history behind the school. Remember that your teachers are there to help you and there is not one professor at this university that wont go the extra mile to help you achieve your goals. Utilize your advisor they are there to help you and make sure the career path you have chosen is something you understand and really want to do. Most important don't be timid to meet new people it will help you grow as a person.
In three sentences This school has a lot of history that most people over look. A variety of students from different states and backgrounds attend here because of the Diversity. Tuskegee University has an outstanding academic record and there programs are in the top percentage of all HBCUs.

What to do for fun There are many different activities on campus based on your preference whether it is dancing, Greek life, band, community service, choir ect. If it's not there you can always start one.
Food and Dining At the moment the quality in the food and dining department is definitely lacking. Food at times cannot be identified, is usually cold and not healthy at all. Vegetarian food is served, however whether it's healthy or not is also questionable. Cafeteria hours are limited, but there is a restaurant on campus which closes at eleven in case students are up late studying.

Dorm Life The dorm life is fairly basic. There is air-conditioning and heat in all the dorms, but the negative aspect of dorm life is the community showers. The dorms also contained mold and dust which bothered my allergies, which affected my dorm life experience.
Academic Rigor The curriculum, in my opinion, is just as challenging as any other engineering school. The professors are very knowledgeable in the material they teach. The only reason I give Tuskegee four stars is because the technology and learning material could be updated.
Tips for prospective students Even though there is always someone willing to help you at Tuskegee one still has work hard to meet whomever is helping that person half way at least. Professors are willing to work with you only if you are willing to work.
In three sentences A small school that has a family oriented environment. You are more than a number at Tuskegee and everyone is always trying to help the other succeed. With the family oriented environment and positive attitude of the faculty and students to succeed Tuskegee is a very good school to get a quality education and enjoy doing so.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Tuskegee University is in the middle of a very small town. For fun most students attend shopping areas in nearby cities such as Auburn and Montgomery. On weekends most students attend parties.
Food and Dining The food is a 6 out of 10. At times the cafeteria has decent meals and other times they don't. Our cafeteria is in a temporary building due to the reconstruction of the old cafeteria, which should be ready Fall 2012
Dorm Life Greek life is somewhat dominant. Different sororities and fraternities are always throwing different parties. When each sorority or fraternity has their own week during the academic school year it is very intersting.
Academic Rigor Stay focused in all classes. Arrive on time especially for exams and tests. Visit professors bi-weekly to be updated on all assignments and grades especially if grades are not up to par.
Tips for prospective students Come in with an open mind. Remember to go to class and complete all asignments as soon as possible. Be friendly and be ready to meet new people.
In three sentences Tuskegee University is a school well advanced in the arts. It's an honor to be the result of Booker T. Washington and George Washington Carver's legacy. I enjoy the animal science program very much and am excited for the projects to come.

Clubs and Activities Getting involved with state clubs, SGA, dance groups, modeling troupes, choir, cheerleading, and other sports are just a few of the clubs you can join or activities you can participate in. Talk to people and you can find out a lot.
Great for these types of students Vet med/animal science, engineering, and there are a couple others but those are two major ones. If you like smaller classes then you'll have that at Tuskegee. If you love excitement, TU is the way to go.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Valley is one of the places on campus where we have pep rallys and hang out with friends. It's also a great shortcut to class in some cases.
Bang for the buck Tuition for a private institution like Tuskegee is expensive so get your money ready! Tuskegee has its ups and downs, but it's worth it.
What to do for fun At Tuskegee, you make your own fun lol!
Food and Dining We're getting more eating places on and off campus but for the most part campus food is pretty good. The old cafe is being renovated but I can't wait until it comes back!
Dorm Life My dorm was pretty nice. We have some not so great ones too but you have to make the best of it.
Academic Rigor You have some hard classes and then you have your easy classes just like you would at any other college. Mother Tuskegee is not going to go easy on you but it's up to you make it through and prosper.
Tips for prospective students Always remember to stay on top of your game and to keep an open mind when things are not going the way you want. There are so many things that you will be able to do on campus with more exciting things on the way and many exciting people to meet. Stay focused and don't fall by the waist-side, reach for the sky!
In three sentences Tuskegee University is a prestigious university that is really helping me to look out for myself. The environment is the perfect place that is continuing to grow with the students while also trying to connect with the city of Tuskegee. There are tough times just like for any college student but Tuskegee Univ. is only helping to get you ready for the real world.

Categories Comments Campus Safety 24 hour security with active gate monitoring at night controlling who goes in and who goes out.
Greek Life In so many words the greek life is amazing always making a respectable presence and appearance on campus and represented by some the best individuals Tuskegee University has to offer. The are numerous greek organizations on campus. There are also Greek honor societies on campus
Clubs and Activities To name a few: Marching Band, Chorus, Student Government Association, ROTC, National Society of Black Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, Young Black Artist Movement (Y?BAM), Greek Organizations, Honor Societies, and many more...
Great for these types of students Tuskegee University is adaptable to any type of student as you're molded into the student you should be.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Yard - something to look forward to that would be best understood in person as events take place throughout the year
What to do for fun Tuskegee is located a very small rural town that might be unlike anything you're use to. What to do for fun is dominated by campus life and there is plenty of it, numerous clubs and activity's to watch or participate in including Greek life, who host a lot of activities themselves. Whenever off campus fun becomes necessary the much larger and urban city of Auburn is located only a small 12 minutes away, here you can find a mall and movie theater among plenty of other activities.
Food and Dining The university cafeteria is currently being renovated, what has been currently put in place is moderately making do serving as the campus cafeteria, the food is average. Not counting the Kellogg Hotel's very nice and upscale restaurant that's on campus, there are two other restaurants on campus which serve a pretty decent menu.
Dorm Life At Tuskegee University, juniors, seniors, or anyone with at least 60 credits can reside comfortably in apartment style housing. Freshman and sophomores are put in a gauntlet of what I'd call chance and opportunity, unfortunately many students don't fare so well in obtaining a newer renovated dorm and have to settle with the historic dormitories who haven't been renovated. The biggest issue with these bad dormitories isn't the rooms but the usage of community style restrooms for an entire floor, which unacceptable. Many place the blame on Tuskegee University's past leadership but our new president Dr. Rochon is actively renovating and building new dorm fixing many of these issues.
Academic Rigor Tuskegee University is a ranked academic institution that isn't afraid to drop any student who doesn't take their studies seriously. While some university get easier as students progress throughout their years, Tuskegee works in reverse, depending on what courses are being taken the freshman year may seem relatively easy at first but things get exponentially harder often leaving the unprepared behind in the dust.
Tips for prospective students Finding a balance between education, sleep, and a social life is crucial to surviving at Tuskegee. The average students needs all three but some will neglect one aspect over the other two. Also students tend to get more serious about their GPA as the progress throughout their years, it's crucial that students treat their freshman year as serious as any other and obtain a really good GPA to cushion any mistakes that may happen in the future.
In three sentences Headed by notable figures such as Booker T. Washington, this university is saturated among a rich history of buildings, campus life, and the pursuit of higher learning. The university has its share of problems however this doesn't detour its students from developing a strong bond with the university as they successful pursue their degrees and future endeavors. Regarding education it's safe to say only the strong will survive as degree programs gradually get harder and students get more serious progressing through their years at Tuskegee.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus security is very reliable. They offer police escorts at night or when it's raining to escort anyone to their dorms, they're very tactful, and they do what they can to keep those on campus safe from harm.
Greek Life I don't know much about the Greek life being that I haven't pledged yet. But I will say that during the month of Greek Weeks, the Greeks know how to have a good time and show what their fraternity/sorority are all about.
Clubs and Activities Honestly, there are way too many clubs on campus. Majority of the clubs are associated with the majors such as the Pre-Vet Club and MAANRS which are both associated with the Animal/Poultry Science major.
Great for these types of students Tuskegee is a great school for those students who want the out-of-state experience and who are willing to adjust to the change in location. Like I said, Tuskegee is located in a little town in Alabama. If you're a city girl like me, transitioning from Miami to Tuskegee wasn't that much of a challenge because I'm used to being in a country setting being that I was always in Georgia visiting family, so, i was willing to make the change. Tuskegee is also known for it's vet program, which ranks #1 in on the charts. If you're a high school junior/senior and you want to major in Animal/Poultry Science, Tuskegee is the school for you. Other than that, you'd have to come to Tuskegee yourself to see if it's the right school for you.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus One tradition that they have at Tuskegee is the Freshman Transition get-together, which occurs after freshman orientation week. This is when all the freshman as well as the orientation leaders come together, one last time, and enjoy each other's company before the fall semester starts. Another tradition that they usual have on campus is the Christmas in the Cafe, the 80's/90's Bash, the Dorm Step Show, and of course Homecoming.
Bang for the buck Tuskegee is ranked #1 in the HBCU chart for academics. For those willing or planning to come here for college, I assure you, you will get your money's worth. I'm proud to say that I'm a Tuskegee woman because Tuskegee is like no other College/University. Some people may complain about it because its in a small, country town. But those people need to realize how much history is bestowed from Tuskegee, how much of a positive impact Tuskegee has had on so many historical figures such as George Washington Carver. Band for the Buck? I say take the risk and come to Tuskegee. There's No Experience like the Tuskegee experience.
What to do for fun There's always something to do on campus. Whether its something on the yard or something in the student union, there is always something to do. My advise to those prospective students would to get involved in clubs and organizations, but only if you can fit them into your schedule.
Food and Dining The food at the school, in my opinion, is great; it's healthy. Although right now at the moment, the original cafe is being renovated, the cafe we were in last semester was acceptable and always kept clean.
Dorm Life Living in a dorm was a great experience. My freshman year, I had so much fun, being able to interact with the other females in the dorm and being able to build long lasting friendships with those I got an opportunity to know. Living in a dorm with a roommate is like a test: to build tolerance, patience, and cleanliness (if you're the type who gets lazy and doesn't like to clean). Another thing is, during the fall semester, they have fun activities especially during homecoming, which a big event for the entire campus.
Academic Rigor At Tuskegee, academics are EVERYTHING. It is an important rule to stay on top of your classes or else you can easily fall behind. Some of the professors are very strict about their classes and how often their students attend. Its also good to stay in contact with your professor. Don't hesitate to ask him/her questions regarding anything that was gone over in the class. Other than that, the classes are pretty easy. Just study the material and attend the class and you'll be fine.
Tips for prospective students Tips for prospective students: if you do decide to attend Tuskegee, be sure to manage your time wisely. I'm going into my 3rd year at Tuskegee so I have more than enough experience. It is fun being out on your own and being away from home, but at the end of the day, you have to remember Priorities before Parties. You're at school for an education, not to party and forget your purpose for being there.
In three sentences Tuskegee is a great school and I'm glad I chose to go here. The school is diverse and the atmosphere is so welcoming. I would recommend anyone to go here for college.

Greek Life We have all nine of the Panhellenic Social Organizations at Tuskegee as well as several others
Clubs and Activities Track and Field, Football (SIAC Champions for 20 plus years), assorted clubs, ROTC (AF and ARMY) and Social organizations
Great for these types of students We have students from all over the world - not just African-American. Tuskegee is great for everyone who wishes to get a 1st class, quality education.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The founder's statue of Booker T. Washington, the graves of Washington, his wives and that of George Washington Carver and the Carve Museum are located on the campus.
Bang for the buck I went to Tuskegee because it was close to home (less than 45 minutes away); because my uncle is an alum and because my Mom wanted me to get a great education in an area that would afford me the opportunity to be self-paced. I have Aspberger's Syndrome and she has carefully navigated my path since I was 6 years old. This has been the best thing that I have ever done for myself and I hope to get my master's Degree when I graduate in May of 2013.
What to do for fun Athletic Events - Track and Field, Football games, Fraternity and Sorority events are just a few of the things you will find at TU.
Food and Dining The ned Cafeteria is very nice and has several food stations.
Dorm Life The dorms for both men and women are undergoing renovation and some will be replaced in the next two years. There are special academic dorms for those who make the grades that are very nice but overall the dorm life at TU is tremendous with lots to do after class.
Academic Rigor The class load can be handled but as a student you will need to follow thru on your credits and course load. you are expected to be up on everything that you need in order to graduate.
Tips for prospective students Living on campus is the best option. The city is very small and has little recreation outside of campus. The winters in Alabama are very mild but the Spring and Summer is hot and muggy.
In three sentences Tuskegee University has a diverse campus, staff and faculty, interested in the well-being and well-fare of it's students. The new President has moved forward with upgrades to the campus facilities and some much needed repairs. The University has set itself apart as an innovator with a long history of service to the public world-wide.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Depending on the time of year, security is either really lax or overly enforced. The campus police department could use a course or two on finding and sticking to a middle ground.
Greek Life I am not a greek, so I speak from the perspective of someone in the general population. Some greek organizations distance themselves from the general population until it is time for one of their events. Other greek organizations (mainly the service organizations) are easily attainable and provide activities and entertainment on campus.
Clubs and Activities There is always something going on around campus. If you can not find a club that caters to your specific interest there is the option to start your own. With such a diverse student body, the range of activities makes hard to claim boredom.
Great for these types of students Tuskegee University is a great higher learning institution for students who appreciate smaller class sizes, historical values, and nature. The student body enforces the law of respectability and expects everyone to dress and act classy.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus No student who wished to graduate is to walk across the grave of Booker T. Washington, the founder and first president of the institute.
Bang for the buck For the high cost of tuition to attend this private institution, one would think the accommodations for the students would be better. The good news is there is a new president for the university and he is making changes. Hopefully they will prove to be in the best interest of the students in the future.
What to do for fun There is always something going on on campus. Campus organizations constantly host parties, fashion shows, talent shows, games, etc to raise interest and money. There are yoga classes, kick boxing classes, and other fitness classes held daily. Community service is another popular way to pass time for Tuskegee students. Flyers that are posted around campus are the easiest way to know what is going on. There is a student website that sometimes provide event details but it is not always reliable. Social networks are another good way to put your ear to the ground to see what is happening.
Food and Dining Currently the Tompkins dining hall is being renovated. That means bad food shipped from a kitchen at an unknown location to a building far from majority of the dorms. There is the option to eat at Wild Wings Cafe but the food is overpriced and the customer service need improvement. Students who live in dorms are not allowed to have hot plates so if you buy groceries for your room, it has to be microwaveable.
Dorm Life The university requires underclassmen to live on campus. The dorms could be and should be better for the cost of living on campus. The rooms are generally small and fill up quickly. The campus dorm rules quickly get old. There is a fine for many things including missing a dorm meeting. Along with making adult students feel like they are back in high school, a lot of the rules actually provide an inconvenience for the students. Many others are just annoying.
Academic Rigor There is no such thing as an easy course at Tuskegee University. Sometimes it can feel as if all the professors are working against you by giving you heavy loads of assignments at the same time. Since the classes are relatively small, there is always the option of having one-on-one time with a professor if there is any problem with completing the assignment. However, if you wait until the assignment is almost due, a professor is less likely to show you any sympathy and will provide little help.
Tips for prospective students Prospective students must understand that the university is located in a rural area. There are often difficulties with administration so it is easier to submit any paperwork early.
In three sentences Tuskegee University is a HBCU filled with great cultural history. The large campus is filled with beautiful landscape and original structures preserved through renovations. Small class sizes along with the emphasize of participation in campus activities provide an enriched learning experience.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I can honestly say that the campus is not really that safe, even if there is security, but it is really the students' job to be smart and to not go anywhere on campus by themselves at night and do not become involved with the locals.
Greek Life Greek life is always fun at any HBCU. They throw great parties, are also involved around the school. The probates are also fun to watch. Greek week is another great part of Greek life.
Clubs and Activities SGA is the best club to get involved in. They are involved in many things around the school like homecoming week, fashion shows, talent shows, and many more.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Traditions at Tuskegee University are always fun and exciting. Every year we have a dorm step show where each freshman dorm gets together and practice for an upcoming step show and they perform. Which ever dorm that wins gets to perform at the first step show during homecoming week. Another tradition that we have is dorm wars. The guys get together as well as the girls get together and plan how they are going to sabotage each other's dorms.
What to do for fun There is always something to do at Tuskegee University, so you can't ever get bored. They throw parties, fashion shows, Greek week, homecoming, Tuskegee week, etc,.....
Food and Dining Food and dining is also horrible, but it will eventually get better.
Dorm Life The dorm life at Tuskegee Is horrible, but it is livable.
Academic Rigor Tuskegee University has the highest HBCU (historically back college/university) graduation rate.
Tips for prospective students For prospective students who are attending, the most important thing is to stay focused because there will be plenty of distractions. Tuskegee University is a very expensive school and you cannot afford to be failing classes. Besides all that, Tuskegee University is a great experience so it is important that you become involved so that you can love your HBCU just as much as i do.
In three sentences Tuskegee University is a private Institute with dedicated students and dedicated teachers. It might not be the best campus around, but everyone knows that education is the most important thing and that is what Tuskegee University focuses on. It is also a historical landmark, and that is what makes Tuskegee University so unique.

Categories Comments Campus Safety For any school, the campus is only as safe as its denizens. Fortunately, the Tuskegee University police is always alert and on the job for any suspicious or illegal activity. If students are facing any domestic issues, they will happily be a mediator in the situation. Students are well informed about where to locate officials and how to handle situations in an appropriate manor.
Clubs and Activities Tuskegee University has a variety of clubs and activities. These clubs consist of students, faculty, and alumni. There are clubs for almost every state, honor society, Greeks, language, and clubs for certain majors. If there is not a club that suits your interest, you can create your own! Certain organizations on campus even cater to making student life as great of an experience as possible. Some activities held on campus include the BET College Tour, concerts, dances, socials, forums and so much more.
Food and Dining The food in the cafeteria is exceptional and is available to all students with a meal plan. The dining hall is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. One thing that seems to upset a lot of students is having to wait in line for food and hoping items do not run out. However, it is an all-you-can-eat buffet.
Dorm Life Dorm life at Tuskegee University can be overwhelming and misleading. Not all dorms are the same; some are a lot better than others. In most dorms on campus, there is a public bathroom on each floor which contains about twenty people. There is one kitchen for the entire building and one microwave for each floor if the residence hall makes it available to the students. There is no curfew; however, opposite sex visitors are only allowed in the designated lounge between 4:00 p.m. and 12:00 midnight. Mandatory meetings come around eight times for each semester. Students who do not attend these meetings will be fined.
Academic Rigor Tuskegee University's faculty come from all over and bring to knowledge to each student. Tuskegee University's teachers challenge the minds of the students and encourage them to think outside of the box, go beyond what is expected, and learn all they can. Five stars are given to this university because everyone (students and staff included) are available to assist and encourage students in their college journey. Tutorials, study groups, and contact information of all instructors and advisers are available to the students so that they have the tools to succeed.
Tips for prospective students For anyone hoping to attend or visit Tuskegee University, it is one of the main attractions in the city of Tuskegee. If you are self-motivated, do not mind a bit of a struggle, and want to know how to survive in the real world while working to achieve your degree, then Tuskegee is right for you.

Categories Comments Food and Dining The food and dining is okay at Tuskegee, though not the best. Tuskegee has the actual cafeteria along with another restaurant named the Austin Grill. Tuskegee is improving with the quality of food.
Dorm Life Dorm life might be different than expected and is based on which dorm you live in. Younge Hall is a good dorm but it dos have its problems at times. Sometimes it gets loud in the hall but nothing major. All dorms have good living conditions.
Academic Rigor The work is fair for the core classes. The class for your major varies by the professor and what your major is.
Tips for prospective students Come with the prepared mental attitude and be ready to work. Please do not expect this to be all fun and partying. Also meet your professors before you arrive and show he/she that you are ready to work.
In three sentences Tuskegee University is an all around great school. The curriculum and professors are great as well as the students. Tuskegee is also filled with great history which gives makes me give the school an 8 as a whole.

Food and Dining The food isn't what you would expect, but it safices.
Dorm Life Living in the dorm I'm in hasn't been all that good, but I can't complain. I have some good times there, and some times where I wish I could move into another dorm, but overall, it's been okay.

Categories Comments Campus Safety This year TUPD has gotten very strict, and sort of locked the campus down. So yes, I feel absolutely safe on campus.
Greek Life You will absolutely LOVE our Greeks! For the most part, most of them are very down to earth and just fun to be around. Being around them you will never have a bad time.
Clubs and Activities There is too many to even name. Tuskegee has almost everything you can think of, and if they don't, it's a simple process that you can go through in order to get the club or activity that you feel like we're missing.
What to do for fun Tuskegee is a very small town so there isn't much to do, however, Auburn is only 20 minutes away. So if you are bringing your car or have friends with cars, you can always go shopping or out to eat in Auburn. They have a lot of nice boutiques and dining places.
Food and Dining Well what can I say about our cafeteria... When it comes to the food in the cafe, you never know if it will be good or not. The days that you can count on the food being good, are Wednesdays (Fried Chicken Wednesdays) and Fridays (Fish Fridays). However, they are renovating our old cafe, and they say that it should be finished this fall, so the food should be a lot better.
Dorm Life The freshman female dorms are HORRIBLE. Well the rooms are not so bad, but the bathrooms are just out right nasty. We have a cleaning lady who comes and cleans and she does a great job, however, living with females is very gross and a lot of them DO NOT know how to clean up after themselves. The honor dorms, however, are very nice. James is an co-ed dorm and it is also nice. As for the boys dorms, they are ALL disgusting lol. Except for the honors dorm, Rockefeller. It is extremely nice and spacious.
Academic Rigor Depending on your major, the work will sometimes be extremely hard and if you do not have good study habits, you will find yourself behind.
Tips for prospective students Do not let the whole I'm finally free attitude cause problems for you. Meaning, yes you are finally away from home and there is no one here making you go to class so you might feel as though you can just go out and do whatever, but I am warning you it will cause nothing but trouble for you. My fall semester I went wild, went out all the time and did not study, so now this semester I was really playing catch up. Tuskegee is not called TU for no reason. My school TURNS UP, however, you just have to know how to party hard but study even harder, and if you learn how to do that, you will have the best of both worlds.
