Entry Requirements

Entry requirements for those taking A levels or international equivalent:

  • A-levels: Minimum grades AAB (Chemistry at Grade A, preferably Biology and a third academic subject).
  • GCSEs: A minimum of 4 GCSE subjects or international equivalent at Grade A which must include English Language and Mathematics.
  • If English is not first language: English language IELTS 7.0 (or equivalent), in each of the testing areas (listening, reading, writing and speaking).
  • UK Clinical Aptitude Test score will be required
  • A personal statement including evidence of a minimum of 2 weeks working or volunteering in a medical or health care setting.


  • Entry requirements for those on Foundation Programmes (from a foundation programme provider who works in partnership with UCLan):

  • A minimum of 70% in four subject areas, two of which must be English Language and Chemistry
  • UK Clinical Aptitude Test score will be required
  • A personal statement including evidence of a minimum of 2 weeks working or volunteering in a medical or health care setting.


  • Entry Requirements for Graduates:

  • A degree in a science or health related subject at 2.1 or equivalent or above (a masters qualification or higher degree does not compensate for a degree below 2:1 classification).
  • A Levels: Minimum grades BCC (Chemistry at Grade B, preferably Biology and a third academic subject).
  • If English is not first language: English language IELTS 7.0 (or equivalent), in each of the testing areas (listening, reading, writing and speaking).
  • UKCAT test score will be required.
  • A personal statement including evidence of a minimum of 2 weeks working or volunteering in a medical or health care setting.


  • Supporting Information

  • All applications must be accompanied by an academic reference.
  • All applicants must provide a satisfactory enhanced DBS check or international equivalent.
  • All successful applicants will need to undergo occupational health screening (including tuberculosis, hepatitis B and C and HIV) prior to enrollment.
  • Excellence demonstrated in high school transcript, GPA minimum of 3.5 required. SATR of at least 700 in each component and Advanced Placement Tests in three group A subjects at grade 5 (to include chemistry and biology) or 3 SATIIs of minimum score 700 (including chemistry and biology). Alternatively ACT scores of a minimum of 34 in each of five components (including chemistry and biology) may be considered with the high school transcript.


  • Fees

    The standard fee for all students shall be 35,000 GBP per year (subject to an annual increase in-line with inflation). The University's standard policy in relation to Tuition Fees shall not apply. A separate tuition fee policy for this particular course is available on the website :

  • All fees will be required to be paid in full prior to your commencement of the programme
  • No early payment bursary will be available to students undertaking this course
  • Should you decide to withdraw from the course, you shall not be entitled to a refund of your tuition fees for that year.
