Am learning a lot
The learning experience is amazing. The professors know what they are teaching and enjoy teaching it. Some of them are born and raised in Alaska so they can help you out. The other students are a big help as well.
Am enjoying being here
Attending UAA is so much fun. There is such a diverse community here. UAA has many activities to be involved in as well as bringing in entertainment for the students.
Bang for the buck
Attending the University of Alaska- Anchorage is a great way to save money. If you are a resident of Alaska the tuition is really affordable. You can spend the same amount of money on one year of college out of Alaska as you would spend on all four years going to UAA. There are many different activities to participate in also that do not cost anything for students. Going to UAA is a great way to save money on a great experience and education.
Tips for prospective students
Be social, this will help when you need help finding a class or when you need help on homework, and especially with your roommates. Have fun, but not to much. Focus on your classes but make sure you have time for yourself also.

UAA is a great University with a diverse group of many different kind such; Asians/Pacific Islander, Natives, Hispanic, African-American, and Caucasian. With so many different kinds of talents and learning style, students are able to learn many things not only about cultural, but a great built up in students communication skills, creative thinking, critical thinking, etc.
Am enjoying being here
I as a current enroll student, really love it here at UAA. I meet many new people, meet many new challenges, and being a resident in Alaska lowers the tuition fees.
Bang for the buck
The books are somewhat expensive, but I'm sure everywhere around the 48 states books are same priced as up here in Alaska or lowered 5 - 10 dollars. And as stated the cost of tuition fees would be lowered being a resident. Also being a student at UAA you would be able to use the gym, swimming pool, shutter, and other great places around the campus for free, well not for free because all of the equipments and activities are already included in the tuition fees. And making a wolf card is free with a 10 dollar already included in the wolf card for printing.

As with anything, you can get out of college what you choose to. Most professors are enthusiastic about their class material, and really help you get excited as well. I have found that the majority of professors are eager to help, in any way they can. The teachers, counselors, and faculty are excellent at helping students be directed to learning and being successful college students. Three ways to make sure you end up with good professors is to talk to an advisor, talk to peers, or ratemyprofessor.com. If you take the time to find good classes, and then participate in the classes, you can learn a lot.

UAA has so many opportunities to get involved on campus, and have a fun time. Student Activities brings up several comedians, magicians, musicians, even hypnotists. A lot of these artists have been on big name TV shows, such as MTV, My Name is Earl, or Comedy Central. There are many sports events, with great attendance. If you get yourself involved, UAA can be a blast.
Bang for the buck
UAA has always been really inexpensive, compared to other universities. Even though the price is being raised, it is still a great price, and very affordable. UAA is also great at helping students find scholarships to help make the costs even more practical.
Tips for prospective students
1. Involve yourself. When you get involved, you feel more comfortable with your campus, and are more willing to ask questions, get assistance, and realize all of the many ways that UAA can help you.
2. Talk to your advisor. Your advisor can help not only with your current problems, but can also prevent future ones.
Great for these types of students
This college is excellent for any student who wants to be successful and get involved. The entire campus is very focused on student success, student engagement, and student enjoyment.

There are a number of great and outstanding Professors at UAA. You will come across some you do not like and some you love. It all depends on how you take it. However, you will certainly learn a lot from them.
Am enjoying being here
UAA is an amazing University. For incoming Freshmen, you do not need to worry. The school is so diverse and full of culture. You will fit in and find a great group of friends instantly. There are always activities going on, so you will never be bored on weekends. Campus Kick Off is a great way to learn about the clubs and organizations on campus. It is definitely worth the money if you attend.
Bang for the buck
Tuition is certainly much lower at UAA than at other universities across the U.S. You will certainly get your moneys worth here at UAA!
Tips for prospective students
Come to UAA and enjoy our amazing summers and fun winters. We are a great campus full of diversity and amazing Professors.
Great for these types of students
Live on campus and be a part of our Residential Community! We have dorms and apartments and if you need a job, apply to be a Resident Advisor or Peer Mentor!

Am learning a lot
The professors at UAA, like any school, are a mixed bag. There are some professors that are absolutely amazing, whose motivation and passion for their subject will motivate you to go above and beyond. And there are, of course, professors who lack this quality. However, if you put in a little work (using ratemyprofessors.com or talking to other students who have been around longer) you can get an incredible and in depth education at UAA.
Am enjoying being here
I absolutely love being at UAA. It can be overwhelming at first, because there are so many students; it can be hard to know where to go to find that sense of community because it is a commuter campus. You can find it though by pursuing things that interest you; by joining clubs and getting to know others in my degree program, I've found a wonderful sense of community, almost a second family at UAA.
Bang for the buck
Tuition is going up at UAA, which is pretty sad. However, compared to many other schools, it is incredibly affordable, especially if you are an Alaska resident. The cost of going to a school in another state for one semester could have paid for at least two semesters at UAA. And in addition, you get printing in the library and some fantastic classes. (Although paying for parking can be painful).
Tips for prospective students
I would recommend that prospective students speak to someone from the department of the degree that they are thinking of pursuing. Although the advisers at the general college can be helpful, professors from the departments can give you a better idea of what to expect in the degree you are looking at.
When you start at UAA, start looking at all your options; study abroad (which can be affordable with scholarships), job opportunities, clubs, student government, etc. It's amazing what all is available.
Great for these types of students
UAA is great for anyone who is a self directed learner. You can kind of tailor your college experience to your own preferences and the way you want your degree to be. If you like to be more independent, there is a good amount of wiggle room at UAA as you do your degree.

Will learn a lot
I hope to learn a lot from UAA. I think it will be tons of fun to be in college and to see how different it is from high school.
Will enjoy being here
I love Anchorage, Alaska and UAA. UAA has been my number one college since I moved up there.
Bang for the buck
UAA is not very expensive at all. What I could pay to go to a school in the continental United States is only like 1/4 of the instate tuition cost.

In three sentences
I would rate the University of Alaska Anchorage overall as a 7 out of 10. The campus provides a friendly environment where everybody is supportive of their fellow students. Certain programs are better than others but no matter what program you are in, you will find helpful resources wherever you turn.
Tips for prospective students
I would suggest getting involved in whatever ways you can. There are a lot of campus jobs offered to students who are looking to work their way through college. There are also various clubs and sports teams for students to join. UAA is a community that allows you to do what you love alongside students who love the same things.
Academic Rigor
Like any college, if you want to succeed you will have to work hard to do so.
Dorm Life
The dorms are different from other colleges but still provide you with a feeling of community amongst your fellow dorm mates.
Food and Dining
The food is surprisingly delicious!
What to do for fun
There are so many trails around campus! If you are a runner, biker, skier, etc. you will love this campus. Also, there are various clubs to join that always have different activities going on.
Bang for the buck
UAA's tuition is very reasonably priced! Not only are you getting a college education but you also get to experience the Alaskan lifestyle and get to see the beauty of this great state right out your window.
Great for these types of students
Great for students who appreciate the beauty of nature and Alaska. This campus is also great for students who love the outdoors.
Clubs and Activities
There is a seemingly endless list of clubs to join and activities to partake in!
Campus Safety
This is a very safe campus. I have never felt unsafe here.

Their books and supplies are expensive but their tuition is cheap if you're a resident in AK.
